Why Are Groups Labelled and Categorised?

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Groups Labelled And Categorised Based On Sound Principles In Order to Distinguish Ahlus Sunnah From Ahlul Bidah, But Neither For The Purpose of Mere Name Calling Nor Illegal Partisanship

Al-Allaamah Abdullah Al-Bukhari [may Allaah preserve him] stated: “And from which the people of knowledge have affirmed is that this religion is established on two affairs: Clarification of the truth and refuting falsehood and its people. The affirmation of this (affair) becomes manifest to the one who contemplates on the statement of Tawheed [لا إله إلا الله] with clarification and by way of explanation. The saying of the slave (i.e. the Muslim) لا إله is a refutation against falsehood and its people-those who deify others besides Allaah. And the statement إلا الله is an affirmation of truth and a clarification of it. And it (means) that Allaah alone has the right to be worshipped and He has no partner. Likewise, the statement محمد رسول الله is an affirmation of the Messengership of the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] and a refutation against the one who gives him a status above that and thus deifies him; or lowers the rank of his Prophethood and Messengership”. (1)

Categorising the people and attributing them to their creeds, religions and characteristics – with respect to (passing) judgement and (establishing) principles – is neither an innovated nor a new (aspect) of knowledge; rather it is knowledge of Jarh Wat Tadeel [the science of criticism and commendation in Islam] and it will not cease in this Ummah as long as night and day exists. Whoever seeks to extinguish the light of this discipline for sake of his Hizb [party] or out of fearing for his beloved ones – those who have been disparaged justifiably, then indeed he is a misguided person, one who misguides others etc. Categorising the people based on truth and clear-sightedness is protection for the religion ordained by Allaah. It is a forces among Allaah’s forces [i.e. in this case it is a safeguard given to this Ummah] by way of which the distortions of those who go beyond bounds, the false claims of the falsifiers and the false interpretations of the ignorant ones are repelled, (and likewise) the deviations of the innovators, the plots of the Khawaarij and all the (deviant) sects that emerge from the Ummah of As-Saadiq Al-Ameen [i.e. The Truthful and Trustworthy One (The Messenger -sallal laahu alayhi wasallam)] (2)

Those who are followed, who set up principles of bidah and call the people to their bidah and misguidance, then indeed they are marked with the bidah they innovated. (3)

The Mubtadi [innovator in religious affairs] is the cause of the splitting (in the Ummah), because splitting is connected to innovation and unity [upon the sound creed and methodology of the Salaf] is connected to the Sunnah. The obligation of refuting the Mukhaalif [the opposer of the truth] is not lifted from the scholar due to anticipation of harm, unless it is harm he is not able to bear. Then [in this case], Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear. The earth is not devoid of people of knowledge who will carry out refutation against the Mubtadi and the Mukhaalif. (4)

NB: Those who innovated and called to their innovations in this era are well known, such as Al Maribi, Muhammad Suroor, Sayyid Qutb, Hasan al-Bannah, Abdur Rahmaan Abdul Khaaliq, Mahmood al-Haddaad, Muhammad Al-Maghraawi, Ali Al-Halabi, Yahyah al-Hajooree and others. Some of the scholars, such as Al-Allaamah Rabee bin Haadi and others have refuted these figureheads of Bidah and shown clearly what they attempted to innovate in the pure Salafi Manhaj. Therefore, why do the refuted deceivers refrain from clarifying this issue?!

As for the concocted term Mad’khalis or Masdaakhilah, they were concocted by the desperate people of bidah after being refuted and their bidah exposed as clear as the mid day sun. Read here: www.themadkhalis.com

[2] Reflection On Surah Al-Jumu’ah [One Reminder Every Yawmul Jumu’ah]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allaah (The Most High) said:

هُوَ الَّذِي بَعَثَ فِي الْأُمِّيِّينَ رَسُولًا مِّنْهُمْ يَتْلُو عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتِهِ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَإِن كَانُوا مِن قَبْلُ لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ

He it is Who sent among the unlettered ones a Messenger (Muhammad) from among themselves, reciting to them His Verses, purifying them and teaching them the Book and Al-Hikmah (As-Sunnah)). And verily, they had been before in mainfest error.

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: The intent behind Al-Ummiyyeen  (Unlettered ones) are those who neither had a book [i.e. a revealed book from Allaah] nor a fragment of (remaining) divine revelation, (such as) the Arabs and other than them, who are not from the people of the Scriptures (Jews and Christians). So Allaah (The Most High) bestowed a great favour on them – greater than His favour on others- because (prior to this) they had no knowledge and good (i.e. that which would lead them to righteousness in this life and success in the afterlife) and were upon clear misguidance. They worshipped trees, idols and stones, and behaved like wild beasts -the strong amongst them devoured the weak ones. They were upon extreme ignorance in (relation to their acquaintance with the affairs of knowledge taught by the) Prophets.  Thereafter, Allaah sent a Prophet from among them – they knew his lineage, his beautiful characteristics and truthfulness. (Allaah) revealed His Book (i.e. the Qur’aan) to him [i.e. This Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam)]; [يَتْلُو عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتِهِ – reciting to them His Verses]- Meaning, Allaah’s clear verses, which necessitates (guidance to) Eemaan and Certainty. [وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ -purifying them] by commanding them with virtuous manners, explaining (such manners to them) in detail and forbidding them from evil manners. [وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ- and teaching them the Book (this Qur’an) and Al-Hikmah (The Sunnah)- Meaning, teaching them the Qur’aan and the Sunnah, which combines the (sound and upright) knowledge of earlier and later generations. So after this education and purification he (gave them), they become the most knowledgeable among the creation (i.e. among mankind and Jinn); rather they became the leaders of the people of knowledge and religion – the most perfect in their manners among the creation, and the ones with the best guidance and character. They became guided and others became guided through them, so they became the leaders of guidance and guides for the believers. So the sending of this Messenger to them is the most perfect (or excellent) favour and loftiest honour on them. [Source: Tayseer Kareem Al-Kareem Ar-Rahmaan Fee Tafseer Kalaam Al-Mannaan. Finally, explanation of the Hadith: “We were in a state of Jaahiliyyah and evil” By Al-Allaamah Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him]: https://salafidawahmanchester.com/2019/08/27/admonition-from-the-hadeeth-of-hudhaifah-people-used-to-ask-the-messenger-of-allaah-about-the-good-times-but-i-used-to-ask-him-about-bad/

“UNITY” – Why Are Some Christian Leaders Abusing This Word?!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

A person asked, “In the name of Unity, two Christian leaders agree to allow something that is prohibited in the pure teachings of all the Prophets. One of them says that he is happy that some of his brethren in faith – amongst their religious leaders – will be allowed to offer blessings to two people who seek a marriage contract that is forbidden by the Lord, but he will not get involved personally. Is this not absurd or tantamount to making a mockery of religion ‘In The Name of Unity?!”

Response: In order to understand the basis of the misguidance of the Christian Priests in relation to terms and expressions, one must refer back to a precise statement of Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allaah have mercy upon him]. He said, “It obligatory to know that the reason behind the misguidance of the Christians and their ilk – amongst those who go beyond bounds, such as those devoted in worship, the Shiites and other than them- is due to three affairs: firstly, utilizing ambiguous general terms and terms that are difficult to understand, and then turning away from terms that are clear and unambiguous. Whenever they hear a term that carries ambiguity, they cling to it and embrace it in their religion, even if it not a proof for it. As for the explicitly clear terms that are in opposition to their path, either they abstain from utilizing them or give them a false interpretation just as the people of falsehood do”. (1)

As for some of those who ascribe to Islam, Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “The one who does not know the language of the Prophet’s companions- the language they used when speaking to (one another), the (language) used by the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] when he spoke to them and the manner in which they spoke in general, he will change words from their right places. For indeed many people are nurtured upon the idioms of their people and their customary usage of words, so he finds those words in Allaah’s Speech or the speech of Messenger or that of the Prophet companions and thinks that what Allaah intends or what His Messenger (intend), or what the companions (intend) is what is intended by the people of his custom and their oral expressions, even though what Allaah and His Messenger intend is the opposite of that. This occurred from a group of people- the people of philosophical rhetoric, the people who spoke about Fiqh, the people who spoke about the Arabic language, the common people and other than them. And there are others who deliberately devise other meanings for the words of the Prophets and that of their [true] followers-meanings that are in opposition to their (true) ones. Then they spoke with those words whilst intending to aid themselves, saying: ‘’Indeed, we are in agreement with the Prophets.’’ This is found in abundance in the speech of the heretical philosophers, the Ismaa’eeliyyah (Rawaafid) and those similar to them amongst the heretical philosophers, rhetoricians and the soofees. The one who (truly) knows the Prophets and what they intend (by their speech) he will know by necessity that the (speech of those heretics) is not what is intended by the Prophets”. (2)

Finally, unity can be a praiseworthy word; however, they’ve utilised it to agree upon sin and as a weapon against those who reject this agreement, and those who enjoin good and forbid evil.

One of The Important Aims of The Students of Hadeeth

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imaam Ibnul Jawzi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said:

I saw that solely being preoccupied with studying Fiqh and listening to (transmission) of hadeeth is not enough to rectify the heart, except combined with (the authentic narrations about) softening of the hearts and looking into the biographies of the pious predecessors. As for having knowledge of Halaal and Haraam only, it does not have a great strength (specifically) in softening the heart; rather the softening of the heart is (attained) by mentioning the narrations on the subject matter and the stories of the pious predecessors. That is because they (the pious predecessors) grasped the intent behind narrating (ahaadeeth), demonstrated the tangible obligated actions by way of them, the practical encounter with their meanings and the goals behind them. And there is nothing that will make you experience this, except after cultivation and experience. Indeed, a group of the pious predecessors aspired to see that a righteous slave should look to his character and upright guidance and not (merely) the knowledge he has acquired. That is because his character and upright guidance are the fruits of his knowledge. So understand this! The student of Hadeeth and Fiqh should combine (seeking after hadeeth and fiqh) with studying the lives of the pious predecessors and the Zuhhaad, so that it can be a means to softening the heart. Indeed, books have been compiled regarding the affairs and manners of each one of those well-known outstanding men (of piety). A book has been compiled regarding the affairs of Al-Hasan Al-Basri, Sufyaan Ath-Thawri, Ibraaheem Bin Ad-ham, Bishr Al-Haafiy, Ahmad Bin Hanbal, Ma’roof and other than them amongst the scholars and the Zuhhaad. (1)

Imaam Al-Khateeb Al-Baghdaadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “It is incumbent that the seekers of Hadeeth should be the (possessors of the) most perfect (behaviour, traits, manners, etiquettes etc) amongst the people, the most humble amongst the people, the greatest in their impartiality and adherence to the religion, the least in (deviating from good conduct) and (being overcome by) angry; and that is due to constantly lending an ear to the narrations that combine the excellent manners and etiquettes of Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him], the lives of the virtuous pious predecessors, the path of the scholars of Hadeeth and the virtues of the (pious ones and scholars) who have passed away; so they adhere to the most refined and excellent (aspects of those traits, etiquettes, manners etc) and turn away from the most despised and lowly (traits, behaviour, manners, etiquettes etc)”. (2)

Don’t Call Me to Taqleed O Muqallid (Blind Follower)!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Mad’khalee [may Allah preserve him] said: It has become common nowadays to reject scholars’ statements (i.e. their sound verdicts) by using statements whose apparent meaning is sound, but those who utter them intend falsehood. “I do not blindly follow”, despite that you find him to be ignorant, lacks understanding in religious matters, and is among those who are greatly in need of Taqlid and following the scholars. There is an ignorant person who needs to make Taqlid. It is incumbent on him to make Taqlid of the scholars. The student of knowledge can determine the correctness of a particular scholar through evidence and then follow that person based on evidence. This is a step higher than Taqlid but below the level of the Mujtahid. Some individuals may claim, “I don’t follow blindly,” but in truth, he is an ordinary person, an evildoer, or a malicious person trying to discredit scholars and distance people from them through these cunning ways. Therefore, the youth should be cautious lest they into the trap of these fools – those who speak ill of the scholars in such a heedless manner.

“I do not blindly follow such and such”. We say to him “Who commands you to blindly follow if you are a student of knowledge?! However, if that scholar about whom you say, “I do not blindly follow him” has truth with him, would it be permissible to reject the truth through this illusion which you call Taqlid and intend falsehood by way of it?! I warn the youth against this despicable behaviour. It has become rife amongst the common people and prevents them from good manners, (sound adherence to) religion, and (good) character. [1]

Does Talhah Davis and Matt Drake (Musa) Know That Yasin (or Yaseen) Munye Al-Waailli Openly Praises a Haddaadi Mubtadi?!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

In the above poster is a guy called Yasin (or Yaseen) Munye Al-Waailli [may Allaah guide him] who praises Al-Hajuri Al-Haddaadi al-Mubtadi [may Allaah guide him]. Here is what he says as follows:

Imaam Al-Awzaa’ee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “O Muslims! Fear Allaah, accept the advice of the sincere advisers and the admonition of the admonishers. know that this knowledge is religion, so beware of what you do, from whom you take your religion, the one you follow and the one with whom your religion is safe, because indeed all the proponents of religious innovation are all falsifiers, liars and sinners. They are not cautious – neither do they pay attention nor do they fear, and together with that they are not to be trusted that they would not distort what you hear.

They say what they do not know with regards to what they disapprove and when proclaiming their lies; but Allaah (knows, hears and sees) what they do. Therefore, be cautious of them, trust them not, reject them and avoid them, because indeed this is what your earlier scholars did and commanded, and likewise the righteous ones who came thereafter.

Be careful of opposing Allaah and being the means to destroying the religion He has ordained – breaking its commands and prohibitions, nullifying and weaking it by respecting the innovators in religious affairs and those who initiate that which is not from the religion, because you know what has been transmitted (i.e. the prohibitions) about respecting or exalting them. And what can be greater respect and exaltation than acquiring your religion from them- following and believing them, drawing close to them and assisting them in enticing the ones they entice and woo to their views and the religion (i.e. religious innovations) they follow. This is sufficient to be regarded as associates of theirs in what they do. [Taareekh Dimashq 6/361]

Al-Allamah Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] said: It is not permissible to exalt and praise the innovators even if they have some truth with them. That is because raising and praising them will spread their bidah and place them amongst the sincere ones-those who are taken as examples amongst distinguished men of this Ummah. The Salaf warned against having trust for the innovators, (warned against) praising them and their gatherings. In this regard, Asad Ibn Musa (rahimahullaah) wrote: ”Beware of being a brother of the innovator (by association) or a companion of his, or one whom you sit with; for indeed it has been narrated that ‘Whoever sits with a person of innovation has left the protection of Allaah and is entrusted to himself’.

The innovators must be warned against and kept away from even if they have some truth with them. Indeed, the most astray are not devoid of some truth, but as long as they have with them innovation, opposition and sinful views, it is not permissible to praise and exalt them. It is impermissible to not have an objection against their innovation because this spreads bidah, belittles the Sunnah and by way of this the innovator will emerge and become a guide for the Ummah.

As for giving consideration (to the fact) that the innovation has some truth, this does not justify praising him. This is -to a far greater extent- against what is of overriding benefit and it is known in relation to a principle in the religion that averting harm takes precedence over seeking that which is of benefit. And with regards to having hatred for the innovator, the harm that is averted from the Ummah is weightier than the benefit possessed by the innovator. And had we adhered to this concept (i.e. praising the innovator because he has some truth with him), then no one would have been judged to be misguided and declared an innovator. That is because there is not an innovator except that he has some truth and adherence to the Sunnah. The innovator (may) neither be a disbeliever nor be in opposition to all the Islamic legislation; rather he is either an innovator in some or most of the affairs. However, if the innovation is particularly related to affairs of Creed and Methodology, then the affair is dangerous indeed because it will become an example (to be followed); innovation will spread and the innovators will become active in spreading their innovation.

So, this person who praises the innovators and makes their affair obscure to the people -due to some truth they (i.e. innovators) have – is one of two (people): Either he is one ignorant of the methodology of the pious predecessors and their stance against the innovators, so neither is it permissible for this ignorant one to speak nor is it permissible for the Muslims to listen to him; or he is one who has an objection to the truth because he knows the danger of innovation and the innovators, but he wishes to spread innovations. Nevertheless, this is a dangerous affair and it is not permissible to be lackadaisical with regards to innovation and its people, whatever that may be. Prohibition Against Free Mixing In Educational Establishments- The Permanent Committee of Senior Scholars

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Question: Is it forbidden for a female students to free mix with males in the schools, colleges etc

Answer: The reason behind the prohibition against free mixing between men and women is due to fear of falling into fitnah, lest it becomes a means to committing lewd acts; (a means) to violating the honour of women and corrupting the society. And indeed these affairs can become a greater reality through free mixing in education. Therefore, it (free mixing in education) is forbidden. [Fataawaa Al-Lajnah Ad-Daa’imah 12/169]

The Festival “Chaharshanbeh Suri”

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

This is a festival celebrated on the eve of the last Wednesday before the Iranian New Year, Nowruz, a so called ritual cleansing ceremony. So, people demand that the fire takes all away their yellowing (Yellow = Zard in Farsi), their ailments and problems, and replace them with redness, warmth and power. The festival has some connection with Zoroastrianism [Religion of The Fire Worshippers], but they held that jumping from the top of fire is not good. On this last Wednesday of the year, before sunset on Tuesday, people kindle fires outside their houses. Both adults and children jump from the top of the fire flames and say, “Zardi-e Man Az To, Sorkhi-e To Az man,” to give all of last year’s sadness and problems to fire in order to begin the new year with happiness and ease etc. You’ll also find other myths related to this celebration, but it is enough to know that it has some connection with the polytheism of the Zoroastrians (Fire worshippers)- a Jaahiliy festival (Pre-Islamic Festival). The Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “The most hated people to Allaah are three: a person who deviates from right conduct [i.e. an evil doer] in the Haram [sanctuaries of Makkah and Medeenah], a person who seeks that the traditions of the Pre-lslamic Period of Ignorance should remain in Islam and a person who seeks to shed somebody’s blood without any right”. [Saheeh Al-Bukhaari 6882]

Al-Allaamah Zayd Bin Haadee Al-Madkhalee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “These three deeds are from the major sins. The first major sin is Al-Ilhaad Fil Haram [i.e. deviating from right conduct in the sanctuaries of Makkah and Madeenah]. Ilhaad means to deviate from the truth (and enter into) falsehood, and supporting falsehood in order to obliterate the truth. Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] censured the Mulhideen Fil Haram [i.e. those who deviate from right conduction in the sanctuaries of Makkah and Madeenah], saying:

[وَمَن يُرِدۡ فِيهِ بِإِلۡحَادِۭ بِظُلۡمٍ۬ نُّذِقۡهُ مِنۡ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ۬ – And whoever intends evil actions therein or to do wrong (i.e. practice polytheism and leave Islamic Monotheism), We shall make him taste a painful torment]. [Surah Al-Hajj. Aayah 25]

Allaah promised them (a severe punishment) due to the mere fact they intend evil actions therein [i.e. in the sanctuaries of Makkah and Madeenah], then how about perpetrating such deed! Indeed that would be a more severe sin, a more frightening state and a more severe punishment. This is a proof regarding the virtue of the sanctuaries of the Haram- that it is a sacred land chosen by Allaah and He made it a place where virtuous acts of worship are performed, (such as) the Hajj which is one of the pillars of Islaam. Allaah gave this place virtues that cannot be enumerated, such as the increased reward attached to good deeds [performed in Makkah and Madeenah] and gave this land virtue over all other lands of the earth.

The second major sin is committed by the person who wants that the pre-Islamic traditions should remain in Islaam, as if he gives precedence to the pre-Islamic traditions – the evil customs that were followed during that period and the misguided deeds- over the Islamic practices, Eemaan, Ihsaan, their virtue and virtue of the Sunnah. He is guilty of committing a major sin, and this includes giving precedence to religious innovations over (the authentic) Sunnah that guides to the straight path.

The third major sin is to seek to shed somebody’s blood without any right – meaning: seeking to shed the blood of a Muslim without right and doing so based on oppression and animosity. Shedding the blood of a Muslim is a great crime, just as the Prophet said, “The extinction of the whole world is less significant to Allaah than killing a Muslim [i.e. unlawfully]”. And he [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] stated regarding the rights of the Ka’bah, “How great you are and how great is your sanctity! But the sanctity of a believer is greater than yours in the sight of Allaah”. It is not permissible to transgress against the Muslims and the believers – males and females- in the sanctuaries of [Makkah and Madeenah] or in other places due to the great sin and punishment which results from that. Tawaaf Around Graves, Stroking Them With One’s Hands And Seeking Blessings From Them- By Shaikh Saaleh Aala Ash-Shaikh

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Shaikh Saaleh Aala Ash-Shaikh [may Allaah preserve him] said:

Tawaaf [Circumambulation] around a grave, stroking them (with one’s hands) and seeking blessings from them are acts of shirk. Circumambulation is an act of worship and it has not been legislated in any (other place) besides the Ka’bah and likewise walking between Safaa and Marwa is (only legislated at Safaa and Marwa).

Stroking (graves), seeking blessings from them and hoping to be benefited – in this life and the next – by way of such acts is (tantamount to) deification. It is similar to what the pre-Islamic idolaters used to do with their gods. Whoever hopes (for reward, blessings etc) through (these acts of worship at the) graves, then indeed he has exalted that which Allaah has not legislated to be exalted.

The proof to show that these practices are acts of Shirk is the hadeeth of Abee Waaqid Al-Laythee [may Allaah be pleased with him] who said, ”We went out with the Messenger of Allaah [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] to the (military) campaign to Hunayn, while we were new converts from disbelief to (Islaam). The idol worshippers had a lote tree in (whose vicinity) they used to stay and hang their weapons, and it (i.e. this lote-tree) was called Dhaat Anwaat. So when we went pass a tree, we said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah! Set up a Dhaat Anwat for us just as they have a Dhaat Anwaat’. So the Messenger of Allaah [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, ‘Allaahu Akbar! This is a path that has proceeded (from the people of the past). By Allaah in whose Hand my soul is! You have stated just as the children of Israa’eel stated to Moosaa [peace be upon him], ‘O Moosaa! Make for us Ilaahan (a god) as they have aalihah (gods)’. He (Moosaa) said: ‘Verily, you are a people who know not (the Majesty and Greatness of Allah and what is obligatory upon you, i.e. to worship none but Allah Alone, the One and the Only God of all that exists)’”. [Reported by Ahmad and Tirmidhee and it is a sound hadeeth.]

Those (new Muslims) wanted to perform that act of worship in that particular place and to seek blessings; so the Messenger of Allaah [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] referred to what they sought after as worship of another deity besides Allaah. That (act they sought after) is a means to Shirk, but after the Messenger of Allaah [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] clarified the affair for them, they turned in repentance and obedience to (Allaah and His Messenger). Seeking blessings from graves, circumambulation round them and stroking them are more severe (acts of shirk and sin) than what those (new Muslims) sought after.

[1] Some Aayaat of The Qur’aan About Fear – [Prophet Ibraaheem Questioned The Disbelievers About Safety and Prophet Hud’s People Sought to Scare Him With Their False Deities]

Ibraaheem [alayhis salaam] and His People

Allaah [The Exalted] said that Prophet Ibraaheem [alayhis salaam] said to his people:

And how should I fear those whom you associate in worship with Allah (though they can neither benefit nor harm), while you fear not that you have joined in worship with Allah things for which He has not sent down to you any authority. (So) which of the two parties has more right to be in security? If you but know.” It is those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah and worship none but Him Alone) and confuse not their belief with Zulm (wrong i.e. by worshipping others besides Allah), for them (only) there is security and they are the guided. [Surah Al-An’aam. Aayaat 81-82]

Meaning: How can this be justified by way of sound intellect or to the one with sound understanding that one fears what you ascribe as partners to Allaah, even though neither can it benefit nor harm, but you do not fear that you have ascribed things as partners to Allaah for which Allaah has neither sent down any proof nor legislated it?!

The person who sets up a deity that has not created anything as a partner to Allaah, [(The Lord and owner of everything, the owner of all the means and causes of harm and benefit); rather such a deity is created, neither can it benefit nor harm itself and those who worship it, neither can it give life nor death, nor raise the dead], prostates to it, humbles himself to it and devoted to it, then this person is more worthy of fearing (evil consequences and destruction) than the one who has not ascribed another deity as a partner to Allaah, but rather he declares that Allaah is one – the only true deity, the one with absolute Lordship, the only one who possesses perfect greatness and authority, the only deity that deserves to be loved, feared and direct one’s hope to. [Ref 1]

[وَڪَيۡفَ أَخَافُ مَآ أَشۡرَڪۡتُمۡ  – Why should I fear that which you ascribe as partners to [Allaah]? – Meaning, when its state is that of inability and cannot benefit;[وَلَا تَخَافُونَ أَنَّكُمۡ أَشۡرَكۡتُم بِٱللَّهِ مَا لَمۡ يُنَزِّلۡ بِهِۦ عَلَيۡڪُمۡ سُلۡطَـٰنً۬ا‌ۚ  – whilst you do not fear ascribing partners to Allah for which He has not sent down to you any authority], meaning, you do so solely due to following desires! [فَأَىُّ ٱلۡفَرِيقَيۡنِ أَحَقُّ بِٱلۡأَمۡنِ‌ۖ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ   –  (So) which of the two parties has more right to be in security? If you but know?]

Then differentiated the two parties and stated: [ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَلَمۡ يَلۡبِسُوٓاْ إِيمَـٰنَهُم بِظُلۡمٍ أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ لَهُمُ ٱلۡأَمۡنُ وَهُم مُّهۡتَدُونَ – It is those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah and worship none but Him Alone) and confuse not their belief with Zulm (wrong i.e. by worshipping others besides Allah), for them (only) there is security and they are the guided] -Meaning, safe from fear, punishment and misery, and they will be guided to the straight path. [Ref 2]

People of Hud [alayhis salaam] Trying to Scare Him With Their Idols

Allaah [The Most High] said:

And to ‘Ad (people We sent) their brother Hud. He said, “O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other Ilah (God) but Him. Certainly, you do nothing but invent (lies)! “O my people I ask of you no reward for it (the Message). My reward is only from Him, Who created me. Will you not then understand? “And O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him, He will send you (from the sky) abundant rain, and add strength to your strength, so do not turn away as criminals”.  They said: “O Hud! No evidence have you brought us, and we shall not leave our gods for your (mere) saying! And we are not believers in you. “All that we say is that some of our gods (false deities) have seized you with evil (madness).” He said: “I call Allah to witness and bear you witness that I am free from that which you ascribe as partners in worship – with Him (Allah). So plot against me, all of you, and give me no respite. “I put my trust in Allah, my Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving (living) creature but He has grasp of its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on the Straight Path (the truth). “So if you turn away, still I have conveyed the Message with which I was sent to you. My Lord will make another people succeed you, and you will not harm Him in the least. Surely, my Lord is Guardian over all things.” And when Our Commandment came, We saved Hud and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us, and We saved them from a severe torment. Such were ‘Ad (people). They rejected the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord and disobeyed His Messengers, and followed the command of every proud obstinate (oppressor of the truth, from their leaders). And they were pursued by a curse in this world and (so they will be) on the Day of Resurrection. No doubt! Verily, ‘Ad disbelieved in their Lord. So away with ‘Ad, the people of Hud. [Surah Hud. Aayaat 50-60]

Allaah [The Exalted] said that they said to Hud [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him]: [إِن نَّقُولُ إِلَّا ٱعۡتَرَٮٰكَ بَعۡضُ ءَالِهَتِنَا بِسُوٓءٍ۬‌ – All that we say is that some of our gods (false deities) have seized you with evil (madness)]- Meaning, “Our gods have afflicted you with dementia and insanity, therefore you have started mumbling that which cannot be understood”. Glorified be Allaah Who placed a covering on the hearts of the wrongdoers! How could they consider the most truthful one amongst the people who brought the most truthful of truthful affairs to be at this level, which a sensible person would have been ashamed to narrate from them had it not been that Allaah informed us of it. This is why Hud [alayhis salaam] made it very clear to them that he was absolutely certain that neither can they nor their idols harm him, as Allaah stated that Hud [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said:

“I call Allah to witness and bear you witness that I am free from that which you ascribe as partners in worship – with Him (Allah).
