Shaikh Sulaimaan b. Abdullaah b. Muhammad b. Abdul-Wahhaab – From the Imaams of the Da’wah – Abu Khadeejah

Fawaaid extracted by Ustaadh Abu Khadeejah (hafidhahullah)

Shaikh Sulaimaan b. Abdullaah b. Muhammad b. Abdul-Wahhaab (1233AH, rahimahullaah) was killed by the criminal representative of the Ottomans, Ibrahim Pasha the son of Muhammad Ali Pasha (leader of Egypt).

This Ibraheem Pasha came to Dir’iyyah to demolish the Salafi State. Shaikh Muhammad b. Ibraaheem Aalush-Shaikh stated in the introduction of Tayseer al-Azeez al-Hameed (p. 13) that Ibraaheem Pasha brought along with him singing women, musical instruments, alcoholic drinks. Also French Military Officers and English Naval Officers were present. Not once was the Adhaan heard from their encampment!

They brought Shaikh Sulaimaan b. Abdullaah in front of Ibraaheem Pasha in 1233H whilst they was the playing of musical instruments and singing. The Pasha’s hatred and desire to humiliate this scholar led him out to the graveyard. There he ordered the soldiers to stand surrounding the Shaikh with rifles pointed towards him.

Then the commanded to every soldier to fire one bullet each into the Shaikh’s body. The Shaikh’s body was torn to shreds. Shaikh Sulaimaan was 33 years old when they killed him. The soldiers were then commanded to gather his flesh and limbs together.

Then Ibraaheem Pasha went to the father of Shaikh Sulaimaan, to Imaam Abdullaah b. Muhammad b. Abdul-Wahhaab in order complete the hatred, envy and rancour he had in his wicked heart. He intended to humiliate Imaam Abdullaah and hurt him with news of his son’s murder: “We have killed your son.” This patient and righteous father (rahimahullaah) responded: “Even if you had not killed him, he would have died.”

(See al-Imaam al-Muhaddith Sulaimaan b. Abdullaah Aalish-Shaikh, of ash-Shimraanee, p.67-68).

1. Tayseer al-‘Azeez al-Hameed fee Sharhi Kitaab at-Tawheed.

By Shaikh Sulaimaan b. Abdullaah b. Muhammad b. Abdul-Wahhaab (d. 1233H).

He was the grandson of Shaikhul-Islaam.

This was the first explanation of Kitaabut-Tawheed. It is considered amongst the lengthier explanations, but the Shaikh still did complete the explanation. He finished at the end of the “Chapter: Concerning What Has Been Related Concerning The Deniers Of Al-Qadr.” Then he passed away (rahimahullaah) and thus seven chapters were left incomplete.

Specific characteristics of this sharh:

1. It is considered amongst the largest explanations.

2. He narrated extensively from Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibnul-Qayyim and Ibn Hajr.

3. He gave the tafseer of the Quranic Aayaat.

4. He gave concern to takhreej and sourcing the Ahaadeeth with their chains of narrations.

5. It is distinguished with numerous Prophetic Ahaadeeth and Aathaar in the Sharh – their number reaching 615 with repetition. That is significant.

Benefit:

Every Sharh that was compiled after Shaikh Sulaimaan b. Abdullaah benefitted from his explanation. Shaikh Hamad b. ‘Ateeq (d. 1301H rahimahullaah) summarised this explanation in his book entitled, “Ibtaalut-Tandeed Bikhtisaar Sharh Kitaab at-Tawheed”. This was published with checking, Daar Atlas al-Khudaraa, Riyadh, 1424H.

Other editions include the Tahqeeq and checking of Shaikh Ahmad Shakir (rahimahullaah).

A Reminder: A tremendous reward in Jannah

Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَعِنْدَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ عِينٌ

كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَكْنُونٌ

”And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved.”  [As-Saffaat: Aayaat 48-49]

And in a hadeeth reported by Abu Hurairah, the women of Jannah are described as follows: ‘’The marrow of the bones of the wives legs will be seen through the flesh out of excessive beauty.’’  [Bukhari: Number 3245]

We ask Allaah (The Most High) to grant us Tawfeeq to fear and obey Him as He should be feared and obeyed. We ask Him (The Most Merciful) to show us forgiveness, overlook our short comings and forgive us our sins, and enter us into paradise. …Aameen

The Story behind Fasting ‘Aashoorah: Musa عليه السلام and the Pharoah

What follows is a summary of the story concerning the events that occurred at the time of Musa عليه السلام; the victory Allah provided to His messenger and the destruction of the Pharoah. It is summarised from a khutba delivered by Shaikh Mohammad bin Salih al-Uthaymeen.

“In this month of Muharram was the salvation of Musa عليه السلام and his people from Pharoah and his army. Allah سبحانه و تعالى had sent him with clear evidences and proofs upon his prophethood, yet the Pharoah was arrogant and haughty and claimed, “I am your lord, most high” [An-Naazi’aat:24]. Musa عليه السلام came to him with great signs and called him to tawhid, to the tawhid of the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth yet Pharoah said in arrogance, And what is the Lord of the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?”[Ash-Shu’ara:23].

Musa عليه السلام responded, Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, if you seek to be convinced with certainty.”[Ash-Shu’ara:24]. And so Pharoah mocked and belittled this statement of Musa عليه السلام by saying to those around, “Do you not hear (what he says)?” [Ash-Shu’ara:25]. So Musa عليه السلام reminded them and admonished them further and said, Your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers!” [Ash-Shu’ara:26]. Left speechless Pharoah then replied with a false claim, a lie, “Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!” [Ash-Shu’ara:27]. He later continued to threaten Musa عليه السلام  and said, If you choose an ilah (god) other than me, I will certainly put you among the prisoners.” [Ash-Shu’ara:29]. Indicating that he had many other prisoners already to frighten Musa عليه السلام into silence.

Yet Musa عليه السلام  continued thereafter to present the clear proofs until Pharoah said to him,Have you come to drive us out of our land with your magic, O Musa (Moses)? “Then verily, we can produce magic the like thereof; so appoint a meeting between us and you, which neither we, nor you shall fail to keep, in an open wide place where both shall have a just and equal chance (and beholders could witness the competition).”[At-Taha: 57-58]

And when Pharoah came with his magicians Musa عليه السلام admonished them and said, Woe unto you! Invent not a lie against Allah, lest He should destroy you completely by a torment. And surely, he who invents a lie (against Allah) will fail miserably.”[At-Taha: 61]. Musa (Moses) said to them: “Throw what you are going to throw!” So they threw their ropes and their sticks, and said: “By the might of Fir’aun (Pharaoh), it is we who will certainly win!” Then Musa (Moses) threw his stick, and behold, it swallowed up all the falsehoods which they showed!” [Ash-Shu’ara: 43-45] And so the magicians repented and believed, And the sorcerers fell down prostrate. Saying: “We believe in the Lord of the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)” [Ash-Shu’ara: 46-47].

Pharoah continued upon his way and Allah stated, So when they angered Us, We punished them, and drowned them all. And We made them a precedent (as a lesson for those coming after them), and an example to later generations” [Az-Zukhruf: 55-56]. Then Allah commanded Musa عليه السلام, And indeed We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): “Travel by night with Ibadi (My slaves) and strike a dry path for them in the sea, fearing neither to be overtaken [by Fir’aun (Pharaoh)] nor being afraid (of drowning in the sea).”[At-Taha: 77].

So Musa عليه السلام and his people exited and Pharoah was in pursuit, until they arrived at the Red Sea, Pharoah behind them and the Sea in front of them andthe companions of Musa (Moses) said: “We are sure to be overtaken.”[Ash-Shu’ara: 61]. Musa عليه السلام replied, Nay, verily! With me is my Lord, He will guide me.”[Ash-Shu’ara: 62] That was the eemaan and certainty of Musa عليه السلام. Allah inspired Musa عليه السلام to hit the Sea with his stick and it opened into 12 pathways and so they entered and crossed with the water holding like mountains as they walked upon the dry pathways. Pharoah upon seeing that entered in chase however upon entering the mountains of water collapsed upon him, And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Fir’aun (Pharaoh) with his hosts followed them in oppression and enmity, till when drowning overtook him, he said: “I believe that La ilaha illa (Huwa): (none has the right to be worshipped but) He,” in Whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am one of the Muslims (those who submit to Allah’s Will).” So it was said to him,Now (you believe) while you refused to believe before and you were one of the Mufsidun (evil-doers, corrupts, etc.). So this day We shall deliver your (dead) body (out from the sea) that you may be a sign to those who come after you! And verily, many among mankind are heedless of Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs , revelations, etc.)” [Yunus: 90-92]

And so Allah saved Musa عليه السلامand destroyed Pharoah. It is for this reason when the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم entered Madinah and found the jews to be fasting on the 10th of Muharram he asked regarding that and they replied, “It is the day Allah saved Musa and his people from their enemy [Pharoah] and so Musa fasted this day”, so the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم replied, “I am more deserving of Musa than you” and so he fasted and commanded the people to fast.

Similarly the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم stated if he lived till the upcoming year he would fast the 9th aswell to oppose the others who were fasting only the 10th as he found them. Hence it is sunnah to fast the 9th and 10th of Muharram.

Regarding the reward of fasting the day the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم stated, “It expiates the previous year of sins” [minor sins]. This should not be confused with the day of  ‘Arafah that expiates the previous year and upcoming year.

Poem: The Righteous Husband

Poem: The Righteous Husband

He is a protector and like a lion when the need should arise,
Abusiveness and oppression is not that upon which his manhood relies.
His words are kind, gentle, and soft upon her ear,
Yet clearly spoken and loud enough for her heart to hear.
He comes home to his wife with contentment and anticipation,
Being very attentive to her needs, endowing upon her total elation.
He fears his Lord, The Most Merciful and Sublime,
By being mindful and aware of how he provides her the time,
To have peace and relaxation of her soul, her body, and her mind.
He is the friend and companion the one whom she will always admire,
Protecting not only himself but also her from the fire.
He is the one who’s hard to find all throughout the land,
The favor and blessing from her Lord, The Righteous Husband.

The Month of Al-Muharram and Fasting on the day of Ashoorah

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

O people! Fear Allaah (The Most High) and thank Him for the apparent and unapparent blessings He has bestowed upon you.  He has not ceased granting you occasions of good and virtue.  The month of hajj has elapsed and now you have reached the month of Al-Muharram, which Allaah has specially chosen.

Firstly: Muharram is amongst those months in which Allaah made fighting forbidden.  Allaah (The Most High) said:

(إِنَّ عِدَّةَ الشُّهُورِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْراً فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ)

‘’ Verily, the number of months with Allah is twelve months (in a year), so was it ordained by Allah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are Sacred.’’ [9:36]

These four months are: Dhul Qida, Dhul Hijja, the Month of Muharram and Rajab—Allaah made fighting forbidden during these months in order that those who performed the Hajj and Umrah are safe in their journey to Hajj and Umrah.  However, when Islaam came—all praise is due to Allaah—safety became widespread and the disbelievers were driven away and Jihaad in the path of Allaah (The Might and Majestic) was established whenever that was possible.

Indeed this month of Muharram has virtue; the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: ‘’The best fasting after the month of Ramadhaan is the fasting in the month of Muharram.’’  So it is desired to increase in fasting during this month.  It is the month that the companions—during Umar’s time (radiyallaahu-anhu)—chose to be the beginning of the Hijri calendar.

Virtues of the Month of Muharram

Amongst its greatest virtues is that the Day of Ashoorah is found within it.  It is a Day in which the Prophet (sallal-laahua-alayhi-wasallam) selected for the performance of fasting.  Likewise, Moosaa (alayhis-sallam) fasted on this day in order to thank Allaah for drowning pharaoh and his people.  And after the death of Moosa (alayhis-salaam), the Jews also used to fast on this day of Ashoorah.

When the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) arrived in Madeenah, he found the Jews fasting on this day of Ashoorah, so he said to them: ‘’What is this fasting of yours?’’  They said: ‘’It was the day Allaah gave victory to Moosa and his people and humiliated pharaoh and his people.  Indeed, Moosaa fasted on this Day, so we also fast. So the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: We have more right to (follow) Moosaa than you.’’

The Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) continuously fasted this day and commanded the companions to fast as well.  However, the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) want us to oppose the Jews, so he commanded us to fast a day before Ashoorah (i.e. the 9th of Muharram) before fasting on the 10th (i.e. Day of Ashoorah); and it is stated in another narration: ‘’A day after it (i.e. a day after Ashoorah); but fasting on the 9th day of Muharram before fasting the 10th of Al-Muharram (i.e. the day of Ashoorah) is more established.

So we fast on the day of Ashoorah (i.e. the 10th of Muharram) in order to follow the example of Allaah’s Prophet Moosaa (alayhis-salaam), and it was the day in which Allaah gave victory to the Muslims (of Bani Israaeel).   It is victory for the Muslims until the Day of Judgement and a blessing from Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic) for which He is thanked through the act of fasting.

Fasting on the Day of Ashoorah is a Sunnah Mu-akkadah [i.e. a practice the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) performed continuously).  Therefore, the Muslim fasts on the 9th of Muharram and the 10th of Muharram, and this is a Sunnah that has continued—all praise is due to Allaah—and fasting on this day is emphasized, whilst seeking Allaah’s reward and in order to thank Him.

The way of the Prophets and their true followers is that they thank Allaah for giving them victory through performance of acts of obedience and remembrance of Allaah.  However, they do not innovate anything in this affair because that was the way of the people of the Pre-Islamic period of ignorance.  It is not permissible for a Muslim to exceed the limits in this affair.

As for the shia, they make the Day of Ashoorah a Day of sadness, weeping and wailing—may Allaah disfigure them—because it was the day Husain (radiyallaahu-anhu) who was murdered.  Indeed calamity is not to be faced with wailing, sins and evil deeds; rather it should be faced with obedience to Allaah and hoping for Allaah’s reward.  There is no doubt that the killing of Husain (radiyallaahu-anhu) was a calamity, but Allaah commanded us to exercise patience and hope for His reward during calamities.  What is legislated on this Day of Ashoorah is that we fast and there should be no newly invented matters in the religion.

Likewise, there are those ignorant ones amongst the Sunnis who consider this Day as a day of happiness and some of them call it the New Year; so they behave generously towards their children, serving them food and bestowing gifts to one another.  Indeed, these affairs are innovations and newly invented matters in the religion, and they are not permissible.  This action of those ignorant Sunnis is the other side of falsehood compared to the actions of the shia! The shia grieve and the ignorant Sunnis display happiness.  Do they (i.e. these ignorant Sunni) show happiness for murder of Husain (radiyallaahu-anhu), because this ignorant act will be considered as a manifestation of happiness due to the murder of Husain (radiyallaahu-anhu) on this Day.   Therefore, it is obligated upon the Muslim to follow the Sunnah and abandon innovations in the religion.  Innovations in the religion are not opposed with other innovations worse than them; rather innovations are opposed by abandoning them and reviving the Sunnah. Partners in False and Excessive Speech –Yahyah Al-Haddaadi and His Deviant Friend, Mourad Al-Jazaa’iri

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

The Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said:”The over-stringent ones are destroyed.”

Imaam Nawawi (rahimahullaah) said: ”The over-stringent ones are those who look too deeply (into affairs) and are excessive- those who exceed the Hudood (prescribed legislated sharia boundaries) in their statements and actions.” [Saheeh Muslim Number:2670 and Sharh Saheeh Muslim: Vol 16. Page:180 or page:220]

There is no doubt that Yahyah Al-Hajoori and his followers are well-known for their vile attacks and false-excessive judgements against the Mashaayikh of Ahlus Sunnah.  Al-Allaamah Ubaid Bin Abdillaah Al-Jaabiri and Shaikh Abdullaah Al-Bukhaari are amongst those who received the severest, the most evil judgements and attacks from Al-Hajoori and his followers-all in the name of defending Al-Hajoori upon falsehood.

Al-Hajoori (may Allaah guide him) said about Al-Allaamah Ubaid Al-Jaabiri (may Allaah preserve him):

“By Allaah! It is feared for him (i.e. Shaikh Ubaid) heresy (zandaqa), it is feared for him that he may exit the Religion if he opposes the Religion and he remains upon this lying – it is not far fetched the statement of Allaah: “So when they turned away, Allaah turned their hearts away, and Allaah guides not the rebellious!”  Yahyah also said: “Allaah has disgraced Ubaid just as He disgraced the Shaitaan” [source: http://www.salafitalk.com/threads/472-Shaikh-Yahyah-al-Hajoori-His-Ghuloo-and-Going-Beyond-Bounds]

Likewise Yahyah Al-Hajoori Al-Haddaadi (may Allaah guide him) said about Shaikh Abdullaah Al-Bukhaari: [listen to audio here] Trans: ”May you perish O Bukhaari just as the two hands of Abu Lahab perished, and perish he!” Reader: The remaining speech in the audio is too shameless and vulgar to be transmitted and one becomes amazed that such shameless speech can be uttered by a person who attributes himself to knowledge.

However, this du’aa of Al-Hajoori is enough a calamity-wishing that a Muslim ends up like Abu Lahab.  Look at the extremism of this person! When one looks at the tafseer of this ayah and what the Ulama have mentioned about Abu lahab, he/she realizes the severity and excess thoughts and ideas in Al-Hajoori’s brain.  Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah) stated in his Tafseer of Juz Amma that [Allaah began with (mention) of Abu Lahab’s two hands: ”Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab” because they are the instruments of work and movement, giving and taking]. Likewise, we find the scholars mentioning that Allaah censured Abu Lahab with this great censure, which is ignominy for him in this life and the next–a complete loss and wretchedness, and he will achieve no success. He died a disbeliever and was not benefited by his worldly possessions.

We seek Allaah’s protection from falsehood, insanity and fanaticism. This is what the haddaadi Yahyah Al-Hajoori invokes on Shaikh Abdullaah Al-Bukhaari: ”May you perish O Bukhaari, just as the two hands of Abu Lahab perished, and perish he.”  This is how Al-Hajoori deals with the Mashaayikh of Ahlus Sunnah—a typical trait of the Haddaadiyyah.

Likewise, Mourad Al-Jazaa’iri’s behaviour is very similar to that of Al-Hajoori, so examine what he said on 23/08/2013 against those who reject Al-Hajoori’s misguidance and Guluww!!! Misguided Murad said: ”May Allaah Almighty curse the liars and expose the hypocrite double standard.’’ This madness was uttered on behalf of defending a haddaadi.

On the other hand, Mourad’s also slanders Shaikh Rabee saying that the Shaikh is blindly followed and has produced no evidence against Hajoori. Then Murad further manifested his misguidance and madness saying that Shaikh Rabee should listen to the advice of Al-Hajoori Al-Haddaadi Al-Mubtadi and that Shaikh Muhammad Bin Haadi has produced no evidence etc. Likewise, Mourad uttered other disgraceful speech against Shaikh Ubaid and Shaikh Abdullaah Al-Bukhaari.  This is what has afflicted Mourad al-Jazaa’iri–sheltering an innovator and attacking the Mashaayikh of Ahlus Sunnah.  Ustaadh Abu Khadeejah (may Allaah preserve him) reminded us recently, saying:

Ibn Battah: One of the Salaf was asked, “Who is the Sunni?” He answered: “The one who does not get angry when bid’ah (or its people) are spoken about.”  By Allaah, this is a defining and distinctive trait of the Salafis past and present. They are the most knowledgeable of the people in the arena of aqeedah and they are the sternest against the opposers (mukhaalifeen).  They are the gentlest between each other; they are the most obedient to Allaah and the most God-fearing; they hold to the Rope of Allaah, which is the Book and the Sunnah and the Jamaa’ah. They hate division and splitting and partisanship. They are like one body in their mutual love, mercy and compassion – when any part of this body is in pain, the rest of the body feels restless and feels the pain.  The Salafi upon the path of istiqaamah does not let down his ‘ulamaa when they are attacked and reviled nor the students of knowledge who call to Allaah. He doesn’t forsake the people of truth, or turn his back on them, or backbite them, or revile them. If he is not able to aid the truth, or aid the people of truth, he should at least remain quiet and not oppose them – rather he should make du’aa for them, for indeed the Salafi is upon clarity, always, till his death.  Cultivate these traits in yourself and your families. [end of quote]

So where is Mourad’s jealousy in defending the people of truth in this regard; rather he defends an excessive haddaadi innovtor, curses the opponents of this haddaadi and speaks against the Mashaayikh.  Indeed, Mourad (may Allaah guide him) is upon falsehood and evil in his affair.  It is enough that he attacks the Mashaayikh based on his fanatical love and defense of Al-Hajoori…what an evil state of affairs! Ibn Asaakir (rahimahullaah) said:

”Know O my brother! May Allaah grant us and you His pleasure and make us from those who have awe of Him and fear of Him as He should be feared. Indeed, the flesh of the scholars is poisonous and Allaah’s way of disclosing the hidden affairs of those who diminish their worth is well known. [Tabyeen Kadhib Al-Muftaree Fee Maa Nusiba Ilal-Imaam Abil hasan Al-Ash’aree: page 29]

Therefore, Mourad should take heed and repent to Allaah (The Most Merciful).  We ask Allaah to return Mourad, Hajoori and the Hajaawira to correctness or protect us from their acts of misguidance, falsehood and excesses….Aameen

Imaam Tirmidhi’s (rahimahullaah) Rulings on Ahaadeeth [Brief comment by Shaikh Muhammad Bin Haadi]

Shaikh Muhammed ibn Haadee (may Allaah preserve him) was asked whether the ruling of at-Tirmidhee when he makes a hadeeth “Saheeh” can be relied up. He answered: At-Tirmidhee’s rulings of Saheeh upon a hadeeth are stronger than his Hasan rulings. Also, he has been described as somewhat lenient. So when looking at Imaam at-Tirmidhee one should look to see who agrees with him from the well-known and bonafide scholars of hadeeth. [Source: https://twitter.com/AbuKhadeejahSP]
