The Sunnah Is Upright Path In The Midst of Those Who Exaggerate And Those Who Are Negligent – [By Imaam al-Hasan Al-Basri]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Al-Hasan Al-Basri [rahimahullaah] said:

The Sunnah -by the One besides whom there is none worthy of worship except Him  (i.e. Allaah)- is between the one who exceed the limits and the one who falls short, so be patient upon it-may Allaah have mercy upon you; for indeed Ahlus Sunnah were the fewest people in the past and shall be the fewest people (from those to) come- [الّذين لم يذهبوا مع أهل الإتراف في إترافهم -those who did not go with the people of transgression and corruption in their transgression and corruption;  [ولا مع أهل البدع في بدعهم -nor with the people of Bidah in their Bidah]; rather they (exercised) patience upon the Sunnah until they met their Lord (i.e. passed away). Likewise-InShaaAllaah- you be (the same). [Source: Ighaatha Al-Lahfaan 1/70]

What Changed His Mind After Reading Kitaab At-Tawheed?!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Shaikh Abdur Razzaaq Al-Badr [hafidhahullaah] stated that there was an Indian man who used to have extreme hatred for Imaam Muhammad Ibn Abdil Wahhaab [rahimahullaah] due to the false claims of Ahlul Bidah, so he always reviled the Imaam.  However, one day, a sincere adviser wished to clarify to this person [i.e. the Indian man] that he is mistaken, so he invited him to his house and treated him kindly. He [i.e. the sincere adviser] removed the cover from Kitaab At-Tawheed and placed it where the guest [i.e. the Indian man] would be sitting because he was a scholar and loved reading books. When he [i.e. the sincere adviser] went to get some food for the guest, he [i.e. the guest] saw the book [i.e. Kitaab At-Tawheed but there was no cover on it with the name of Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Abdil Wahhaab] and started reading. He was amazed by the book because it contained nothing else but proofs [i.e. irrefutable and unambiguous proofs regarding Tawheed].

When he [i.e. the sincere adviser] returned [i.e. with the food], the guest [i.e. the Indian man] asked him who the author of the book was and he was told that Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Abdil Wahhaab [rahimahullaah] is the author; so he realised [i.e. acknowledged] that he was one of those who reviled Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Abdil Wahhaab based on false claims.

Then the Shaikh [i.e. Abdur Razzaaq Al-Badr] said, ‘’And among the most evil of these false claims is that Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Abdil Wahhaab hates and reviles Ahlul Bayt [i.e. the Prophet’s family]; but ask these people what the Kunyaa of Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Abdil Wahhaab is! His Kunya is Abu Ali; rather all the names of his children are the same as the names of Ahlul Bayt, except one of his children who is called Abdur Azeez. Therefore, is this a sign of love for Ahlul Bayt or a sign of hatred?! Would a person name his children after people he hates?! Rather, these names [i.e. Ali, Hasan, Husayn, Faatimah etc] are well known even amongst the descendants of Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Abdil Wahhaab.

Then the Shaikh [i.e. Abdur Razzaaq Al-Badr] said that once he met a man in one of the Muslim lands and mentioned the name of Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Abdil Wahhaab [rahimahullaah], so the man said, ‘’Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhaab reviles Ahlul Bayt in his books’’. He said to the man, ‘’Name a single book in which this revilement is found! If you stand in the presence of Allaah on the Day of Judgement and you are questioned about this, would you have any proof to offer?! Show me a single statement in which Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Abdil Wahhaab reviles Ahlul Bayt; rather I can bring you many of his statements in which he praised Ahlul Bayt’’. Then the Shaikh [Abdur Razzaaq Al-Badr] said, ‘’This shows that many people are affected by the false claims of Ahlul Bidah – the people of desires and misguidance, because none will show hatred towards Kitaab At-Tawheed, except a person of desires.  [Sharh Kitaab At-Tawheed. Lesson 1. By Shaikh Abdur Razaaq Al-Badr (hafidhahullaah)]

Everyone of Us Will Come to Allaah Alone On The Day of Resurrection!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allaah [The Most High] said:

إِن كُلُّ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ إِلَّا آتِي الرَّحْمَٰنِ عَبْدًا

لَّقَدْ أَحْصَاهُمْ وَعَدَّهُمْ عَدًّا

وَكُلُّهُمْ آتِيهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَرْدًا

There is none in the heavens and the earth but comes unto the Most Beneficent (Allah) as a slave. Verily, He knows each one of them, and has counted them a full counting. And everyone of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection. [19:93-95]

[وَكُلُّهُمْ آتِيهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَرْدًا – And everyone of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection]; without children, wealth and helpers – nothing with him [i.e. the person –male and female] except his (or her) deeds, so Allaah will recompense him (or her) and give him (her) a full account. And if [his or her deeds are] good, [he or she receives) good, and if [his or her deeds are] evil, [he or she receives] evil, just as Allaah (The Most High) said: [وَلَقَدْ جِئْتُمُونَا فُرَادَىٰ كَمَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ  – And truly you have come unto Us alone (without wealth, companions or anything else) as We created you the first time. [6:94] [Ref 1]

What Are Righteous Deeds

Imaam Shanqeetee [rahimahullaah) said: Indeed, the great Qur’aan has clarified that a righteous deed is that which accomplishes three affairs, and when one of them is not present its performer will not be benefitted on the day of Judgement.

The first affair: The (deed) has to be accordance with what the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi wasallam) was sent with. That is because Allaah (The Most High) stated: [ وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانتَهُوا – And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad) gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it)]. [Soorah Al-Hashar: Ayah: 7]

Allaah (The Most High) said: [مَّن يُطِعِ الرَّسُولَ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ – He who obeys the Messenger (Muhammad), has indeed obeyed Allah]. [Nisaa: Ayah: 80]

Allaah (The Most High) said: [ قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي – Say (O Muhammad to mankind): ‘If you (really) love Allah then follow me].’[Aal Imraan: Ayah: 31]

Allaah (The Most High) said: [أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَاءُ شَرَعُوا لَهُم مِّنَ الدِّينِ مَا لَمْ يَأْذَن بِهِ اللَّهُ – Or have they partners with Allah (false gods), who have instituted for them a religion which Allah has not allowed. [Soorah Ash-Shooraa: Ayah: 21]

The second affair: The (deed) is to be carried out sincerely for the sake of Allaah. That is because Allaah (The Most high) stated:  [وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ – And they were commanded not, but that they should worship Allah, and worship none but Him Alone (abstaining from ascribing partners to Him)]. [Soorah Al-Bayyinah: Ayah: 5]

Allaah (The Most High) said:

Say (O Muhammad): ‘Verily, I am commanded to worship Allah (Alone) by obeying Him and doing religious deeds sincerely for Allah’s sake only and not to show off, and not to set up rivals with Him in worship; “And I am commanded (this) in order that I may be the first of those who submit themselves to Allah (in Islam) as Muslims.” Say (O Muhammad): “Verily, if I disobey my Lord, I am afraid of the torment of a great Day.” Say (O Muhammad) “Allah Alone I worship by doing religious deeds sincerely for His sake only and not to show-off, and not to set up rivals with Him in worship.” [Soorah Az-Zumar: Ayah: 11-14]

The third affair: The (deed) has to be founded upon a sound creed.   Allaah (The Most High) said: [وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِنَ الصَّالِحَاتِ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ – And he who works deeds of righteousness, while he is a believer (in Islamic Monotheism)]. Therefore, Allaah, (tied) the (deed of the doer and the condition of its acceptance), saying:  ‘’While he (i.e. performer) is a believer’’.[Soorah Taahaa: Ayah: 112]

And (The Most High) stated regarding the deeds of those who [have no belief in Allaah and His Messenger (sallal-lal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam)]:

وَقَدِمْنَا إِلَىٰ مَا عَمِلُوا مِنْ عَمَلٍ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ هَبَاءً مَّنثُورًا

And We shall turn to whatever deeds they (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) did, and We shall make such deeds as scattered floating particles of dust.’’ [Soorah Al-Furqaan: Ayah: 23]

And Allaah (The Most High) said: [أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا النَّارُ ۖ وَحَبِطَ مَا صَنَعُوا فِيهَا وَبَاطِلٌ مَّا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ – They are those for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter but Fire; and vain are the deeds they did therein. And of no effect is that which they used to do. [Soorah HUD: Ayah: 16]. And other than it from the Aayaat (of the Qur’aan) [2]

The One Whose Knowledge And Status Leads Him to Haughtiness – [By Imaam Adh’Dhahabi]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imaam Dhahabi [rahimahullaah] said: The most evil [type] of haughtiness [i.e. the haughtiness lesser than the one that led Iblees to disbelief] is that of one who is haughty towards the people due to knowledge [he possesses] and feels exalted within himself due to virtue [he possesses]; for indeed this [type of person] is not benefited by his knowledge. Indeed, the one who seeks knowledge for the afterlife [i.e. to perform righteous deeds for the afterlife], his knowledge will prevent him [i.e. restrain him from evil, unpraiseworthy deeds etc], his heart will possess khash’ya [i.e. that fear of Allaah founded upon knowledge of the greatness of Allaah, His perfect Dominion and sovereignty], his soul will be at ease and he will be watchful over himself. [Al-Kabaa’ir page 76]

The Evil Effects of Misplaced Good Suspicion, Misplaced Evil Suspicion And Misplaced Loyalty!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Madkhalee [may Allaah preserve him and prolong his life upon righteous deeds] said: Destructive Good Suspicion is to have a good suspicion of the people of falsehood whether are they disbelievers, innovators or evil (open) sinners. And that which led the disbelievers to belie the Messengers, (harbouring) a severe disbelief in them and their message was due to their evil suspicion towards the people of truth (i.e. the Prophets and their true followers), and having a good suspicion of their forefathers and their religions of falsehood and disbelief. Ahlul Bidah such as the Rawaafid, the khawaarij, the soofiyyah, the murji’ah, the qadariyyah and the people of Tahazzub Al-Baatil [false partisanship] are destroyed by good suspicion towards their shuyookh and figureheads, and their corrupt creeds. On the other hand, they are destroyed by their evil suspicions towards the truth and its people. Abul Hasan Al-Maribee and his followers have a share of both this destructive good suspicion and destructive evil suspicion. [Majmoo 13/363-364]

Toxic False Accusers And Disbelievers In Allaah!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said about the hypocrites:

And from the characteristics of the hypocrites is that they conceal the truth; deceptive towards its people and [falsely] accuse of them of their diseases [i.e. the Munaafiqoon falsely accuse the believers of that which they are upon].

They accuse them [i.e. the believers] when they enjoin good, forbid evil and call to Allaah and His Messenger. That is because they [hypocrites] are a people of trials and tribulation, and mischief makers in the earth. Allaah has made known to His Messenger and the believers that they (hypocrites) are mischief makers in the earth.

And when the inheritors [i.e. upright scholars] of the Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] call them to the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger- especially to that which is unadulterated, they accuse them of  [committing] bidah and misguidance. When they see them being ones who abstain from the Dunyah [i.e. refraining from blameworthy pursuit of worldly things]- having a fervent desire for the hereafter and following the path of obedience to Allaah and His Messenger, they accuse them of being upon falsehood, deception and irreligious behaviour. When they see them with the truth, they mix it with falsehood and give that out to those of weak intellect- turning it into something repugnant in order to make them flee from it. And when they (hypocrites) have falsehood with them, they disguise it with the garment of truth and give it out- turning it into something that would be accepted from them. Indeed Allaah is Pure and He does Not Accept, Except That Which is Pure

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

The Messenger of Allaah [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said, “Indeed Allaah is Pure and He does not accept, except that which is pure”.

In this hadith, he [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] described Allaah [جل وعلا] that He [سبحانه] is Pure.  He [سبحانه] is Pure, meaning free from all imperfections and deficiencies.  He is Pure in His Essence, in His Names and Attributes, and in His Commandments and Prohibitions.  He [سبحانه] is Pure in every aspect and imperfection cannot reach Him; and for that reason He does not accept actions, statements and intentions except that which is pure.  He does not accept filthy statements, actions and intentions. He does not accept except the pure, as He [The Exalted] said: [إِلَيۡهِ يَصۡعَدُ ٱلۡكَلِمُ ٱلطَّيِّبُ – ‘To Him ascend (all) the goodly words][Surah Faatir Ayah:10]

He [سبحانه] does not accept, except good speech and good actions; as for filthy speech, then indeed Allaah rejects and hates it, such as lies, backbiting, tale carrying, abuse, false speech and false testimony; and all filthy statements; [such as] shirk and kufr.  All of this is filthy speech and does not ascend to Allaah, and is not accepted.

Taking Others As Intercessors Besides Allaah!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Have they taken others as intercessors besides Allah? Say: “Even if they have power over nothing whatever and have no intelligence?” Say: “To Allah belongs all intercession. His is the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, then to Him you shall be brought back.” [Soorah Zumar: Ayah:43-44]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said: Allaah informed (us) that intercession belongs to the One who owns the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, and that is Allaah (alone)…[for futher details see Ighaathatul Luhfaan 1/220-222]

And the saying of  (The Most High): And warn therewith (the Qur’an) those who fear that they will be gathered before their Lord, when there will be neither a protector nor an intercessor for them besides Him, so that they may fear Allah and keep their duty to Him (by abstaining from committing sins and by doing all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained). [Soorah Al-An’aam: Ayah:51]

Shaikh Saaleh Aala Shaikh (hafidha-hullaah) said: So when it is the case that intercession belongs to Allaah (alone), and that it not for anyone to seek intercession from other than Allaah– from one who has passed away and whose actions have ceased to exist- then it becomes established that seeking intercession and asking the dead people besides Allaah is shirk.  And the happiest people who will receive the intercession of Al-Mustapha [the Chosen One (i.e. the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam)] are the people who single out Allaah in worship and are free from all types of shirk, and they are those who are sincere to their (utterance) of the statement Laa-ilaaha-Ilal-laah (None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah). [Source: al-Mindhaar Fee Bayaani katheer Minal Akhtaa Ash-shaa-i-a by Shaikh Saaleh Aala Shaikh: page:10]

High Heels Shoes

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Question: What is the Islamic ruling on wearing high heels? Answer: The least regarding this affair is that it is kiraahah (i.e. it is disliked in relation to the Islamic rulings) and this is because; firstly there is deceit in it, as the woman appears taller than she really is. Secondly there is a danger that she may fall, and finally her health may be jeopardized as proven by the doctors. [Source: Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz (rahimahullaah). Majmoo’ Al-Fataawaa (6/397)]

How to Get Rid of Ripped Mus’haf

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Merciful.

Question: I have with me a copy of the Noble Qur’aan and its pages are ripped, so what shall I do with it? Shall I bury it?

Answer: It is permissible for you to bury it under the grounds of a Masjid of any of the Masaajid; and it is also permissible for you to burn it in imitation of what ‘Uthmaan (radiyallaahu-anahu) did.  And to Allaah belongs all success, and may peace and blessings be upon our prophet Muhammad (salla Allaahu alaihi wa sallam), his family and his companions.
