In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

[1] Distancing oneself from sins…

It has been reported in Rawdatul Uqalaa and Hilya that Ibn Mas’ood (radiyallaahu-anhu said, ‘’Indeed I reckon that a man forgets knowledge he learnt due to a sin he committed…..

[2] Acting upon what you have learnt…. as Imaam Wakee (rahimahullaah) stated that they used to seek strengthened their memorization of Hadeeth by acting upon what they learnt…etc

[3] Do not memorise haphazardly and make yourself tired…. rather memorise little by little in order to progress in stages. Memorize what you are able – one ayah or two, or one line or two lines. Do not go beyond what you are not able to do because you will be afflicted with boredom, and when afflicted with boredom you will abandon it…..

[4] Repetition…. repeat what you have learnt or memorised, as Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said that repetition is the training (or preparation) in every affair….

The legs are strengthened through a lot of walking, so likewise the mind is strengthened with a lot of repetition and memorization and Allaah loves that a servant turns to Him-asking Him for aid and assistance, guidance etc

Lowering one’s gaze is a means to protecting the private parts and not restraining one gaze is a means to corrupting the private parts. Therefore, if you want to protect your private parts from lewdness, lower your gaze. If you leave your eyesight roam about freely – looking at what Allaah has made unlawful- then indeed it will lead you to lewdness.

A Righteous Deed of Ali Ibnul Husayn at Night!

Amr Bin Thaabit (rahimahullaah) said: When Ali Ibnul Husayn (rahimahullaah) passed away and was being given a bath, they (i.e. those giving him a bath) looked at a black mark that was on his back; so they said, ”What is this (black mark)?” They (i.e. some other people who were present) said, ”He used to carry a sack of flour at night to give to the poor people of Madeenah.”

He Was Not Handsome, But He Was a Noble Man Blessed With Sound Understanding!

Imaam Dhahabee (rahimahullaah) stated in the biography of Abdul Azeez Bin Yahyaa Al-Kinaanee Al-Faqee (rahimahullaah) that he had an unsightly appearance. Abee Aynaa said, ”Abdul Azeez entered upon Mamoon whilst his physical appearance was very unsightly, so Abu Ishaaq Al-Mutasim laughed”.  He (Abdul Azeez) said, ‘O leader of the believers! Why is this person laughing? Indeed Allaah did not chose Yusuf (alayhis-salaam) due to his handsomeness, rather He chose him for His religion and clarification (of the truth).’ So Mamoon laughed and was amazed by him”.

Many People Leave This Worldly Life Without Tasting The Most Tasteful Thing- By Maaliki Bin Deenaar

Maalik Ibn Deenaar (rahimahullaah) said, ”The people (i.e. some of them) exit the worldly life without tasting the most tasteful thing in it”; so they (i.e. the people) asked, ‘What is it O father of Yahya?’ He said, ”Knowledge and awareness of Allaah”.

Those Who Truly Remember Allaah

Ataa Ibn Deenaar (rahimahullaah) narrated from Saeed Bin Jubayr (rahimahullaah) who said: Indeed reverential fear is that you fear Allaah until it becomes a barrier between you and disobedience. This reverential fear is Dhikrul Allaah (Remembrance of Allaah) and obedience to Allaah. Therefore, whoever obeys Allaah is one who (truly) remembers Him, and whoever does not obey Allaah is not one who (truly) remembers Him even if he utters a lot of Tasbeeh (Glorification of Allaah) and recites the Qur’aan a lot.’’

From The Effects of Knowledge on a Person – By Haatim al-Asam

Haatim Al-Asam (rahimahullaah) said: The knowledgeable one [i.e. the one who possesses sound knowledge and it truly has an effect on him] becomes more fearful of Allaah every day because every hour brings him closer to death.

How many Rak’ats prayed before khutbah begins on the day of Jum’ah

Shaikh Muhammad Baazmool (may Allaah preserve him) says: There is no specified number of rak’ats to pray on jum’ah day (i.e. specified number of Rak’ats after one enters the masjid and before the khutbah), rather what is established is that the number of rak’ats is unrestricted due to the Hadeeth reported by Imaam Muslim (rahimahullaah) in Sahih Muslim- that whoever takes a bath on the day of jum’ah and prays what is decreed for him (i.e. before khutbah begins), keeps quiet until the khutbah finishes, and prays (i.e. with the Imaam), he will be forgiven (i.e. minor sins) from that day of jum’ah to the next Jum’ah….[Ref 1]

After Jum’ah prayer, one prays either two rak’ats [Ref2] or four Rak’ats [Ref 3]
