Reflect!

By the night as it envelops;

And by the day as it appears in brightness;

And by Him Who created male and female;

Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes);

As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him,

And believes in Al-Husna.

We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness).

 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient.

And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote);

We will make smooth for him the path for evil

And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction).

Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance,

And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world).

Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell);

None shall enter it save the most wretched,

Who denies and turns away.

And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous – see V.2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell).

He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification,

And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return,

Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High;

He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise).

Reflection

Have they not travelled in the land, and seen what was the end of those before them, and they were superior to them in power? Allah is not such that anything in the heavens or in the earth escapes Him. Verily, He is All-Knowing, All-Omnipotent.  And if Allah were to punish men for that which they earned, He would not leave a moving (living) creature on the surface of the earth, but He gives them respite to an appointed term, and when their term comes, then verily, Allah is Ever All-Seer of His slaves. [Soorah Faatir’ Aayaat 44-45]

Reflection

And the two seas (kinds of water) are not alike, this fresh sweet, and pleasant to drink, and that saltish and bitter. And from them both you eat fresh tender meat (fish), and derive the ornaments that you wear. And you see the ships cleaving (the sea-water as they sail through it), that you may seek of His Bounty, and that you may give thanks.

He merges the night into the day (i.e. the decrease in the hours of the night are added to the hours of the day), and He merges the day into the night (i.e. the decrease in the hours of the day are added to the hours of the night). And He has subjected the sun and the moon, each runs its course for a term appointed. Such is Allah your Lord; His is the kingdom. And those, whom you invoke or call upon instead of Him, own not even a Qitmir (the thin membrane over the date-stone).

If you invoke (or call upon) them, they hear not your call, and if (in case) they were to hear, they could not grant it (your request) to you. And on the Day of Resurrection, they will disown your worshipping them. And none can inform you (O Muhammad) like Him Who is the All-Knower (of each and everything).

Reflection

And among His Signs is this, that He created you (Adam) from dust, and then [Hawwa’ (Eve) from Adam’s rib, and then his offspring from the semen, and], – behold you are human beings scattered!

And among His Signs is this, that He created for you wives from among yourselves, that you may find repose in them, and He has put between you affection and mercy. Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who reflect.

Reflection

And (remember) the Day We shall cause the mountains to pass away (like clouds of dust), and you will see the earth as a levelled plain, and we shall gather them all together so as to leave not one of them behind.

And they will be set before your Lord in (lines as) rows, (and Allah will say): “Now indeed, you have come to Us as We created you the first time. Nay, but you thought that We had appointed no meeting for you (with Us).”

And the Book (one’s Record) will be placed (in the right hand for a believer in the Oneness of Allah, and in the left hand for a disbeliever in the Oneness of Allah), and you will see the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.), fearful of that which is (recorded) therein. They will say: “Woe to us! What sort of Book is this that leaves neither a small thing nor a big thing, but has recorded it with numbers!” And they will find all that they did, placed before them, and your Lord treats no one with injustice. [18:47-49]

What Can Afflict a Believer If He [Or She] Blindly Follows Some of Those Who Were Given the Scripture?

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah [The Most High] said in Surah Aal Imraan Ayah 100:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ تُطِيعُوا فَرِيقًا مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ يَرُدُّوكُمْ بَعْدَ إِيمَانِكُمْ كَافِرِينَ

O you who believe! If you obey a group of those who were given the Scripture, they would [indeed] render you disbelievers after you have believed!

Few Reminders from the Above Aayah:

That is because of their envy and hatred towards you [believers], and their extreme eagerness to turn you away from your religion, just as He (The Most High) said:

 وَدَّ كَثِيرٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ لَوْ يَرُدُّونَكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ إِيمَانِكُمْ كُفَّارًا حَسَدًا مِنْ عِنْدِ أَنْفُسِهِمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الْحَقُّ

Many of the people of the Scripture wish that if they could turn you away as disbelievers after you have believed, out of envy from their ownselves, even, after the truth (that Muhammad Peace be upon him is Allah’s Messenger) has become manifest unto them. [2:109] [Ref 1]

Az-Zujaaj [rahimahullaah] said: If you obey and blindly follow them [they would return you to disbelief] [Ref 2]

NB: The above has nothing to do with having peace treaties with non-Muslims, fulling contracts and behaving oneself whilst living in non-Muslim countries. See articles on this links

Reminding Ourselves of an Affair Related to The Greatness of Allaah

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ۬ فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا طَـٰٓٮِٕرٍ۬ يَطِيرُ بِجَنَاحَيۡهِ إِلَّآ أُمَمٌ أَمۡثَالُكُم‌ۚ مَّا فَرَّطۡنَا فِى ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ مِن شَىۡءٍ۬‌ۚ

There is not a moving (living) creature on earth, nor a bird that flies with its two wings, but are communities like you. We have neglected nothing in the Book.[6:38]

That is all the land and air animals, such as cattle, wild animals and birds–they are all nations like yourselves. (Allaah) created them just as He created you; (Allaah) provide them with sustenance just as He provides for you. They are all under the will and power of Allaah just as you are.

[مَّا فَرَّطۡنَا فِى ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ مِن شَىۡءٍ۬‌ۚ – We have neglected nothing in the Book]. There is nothing of these things that has been missed or forgotten by Allaah in the preserved tablet; rather all things-be they small or big-are written in the preserved tablet just as they are. All the events take place just as it was written down by the pen.

This Ayah is a proof that the first Book (i.e. the Lawh Al-Mahfoodh) contains all the things that will happen (i.e. written 50,000 years before the creation) and this is one of the levels of Divine Will and Decree. The Devine Will and Decree consists of four things:

[a] Allaah’s All-Encompassing knowledge of all things; [b] The writing down of everything that will exist; [c] His all-encompassing Will and Power over everything; [d] He created all the creation, even the actions of the slaves.

One of The Reasons Why the Believers Give Precedence to The Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) Over Everyone Else Amongst Mankind and Jinn

Allaah (The Most High) said:

“النَّبِيُّ أَوْلَىٰ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ

The Prophet is more worthy of the believers than themselves. [Al-Ahzaab. Ayah:6]

Summarised benefits:

The closest thing a person possesses and the most important thing he has is him (or herself). However, the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) is more worthy of person than him (or herself). That is because the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) gave them (i.e. the creation) sincere advise, and showed them affection and compassion. There is none who shows the most mercy and compassion to the creation except that the Messenger is the greatest favour amongst the creation to the people than everyone else. That is because neither an atom’s weight of good has reached them nor an atom’s weight of evil is repelled from them, except through him (i.e. due to the message he conveyed to them from Allaah). And for this reason it is obligated on them that when the desires of their souls are in opposition to what the Messenger wants (from them), they should give precedence to what the Messenger wants (from them). They should not oppose the statement of the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) with the statement of anyone else-regardless who that person may be-and they are to sacrifice themselves, their wealth and offspring in giving precedence to loving the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wsallam) over the entire creation. They are not to say anything (i.e. in the religion) until he says so, nor do they put themselves forward before him.
