Mobile Phone Infatuation And Breaking The Law Whilst Driving

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Shaikh Abdur-Razzaaq Al-Badr [hafidhahullaah] said:

We are greatly in need of the Qur’aan, especially this era in which many people have become preoccupied with mobile phones. Many hearts have become infatuated with mobile phones and many eyes have been turned towards them – looking at them in a manner that has no benefit; rather it is harmful to one’s religion, manners, health and well-being. This reality [i.e. preoccupying oneself with mobile phones] grieves many of those who have great zeal for the religion – the sincere advisers – because it has become the case with many people; but on the contrary, the Qur’aan is given very little attention in their lives; rather late at night, different times of the day and most of their time is spent looking at them [i.e. mobile phones] – one gaze after the other; contemplation after another contemplation! And how many a person has been plotted against by shaytaan through these mobile phones.

The good uses of mobile phones is not in need of discussion [i.e. because its benefits are well known]; rather what needs to be addressed is the great calamity that has afflicted many people by way of them- to such an extent that being busied by the mobile phone leads some people to neglect the prayer. They hear the Adhaan – Hayyaa Alas Salaah; Hayyaa Alas Salaah; Hayyaa Alal Falaah…but carry on looking into the mobile phone until the prayer finishes. The time for an obligation ordained by Allaah [i.e. Salaah] to be fulfilled arrives, but one carries on looking into his mobile phone and does not pay attention to the prayer. If it is the case that the obligatory duties are being neglected, then more so other affairs will be neglected.

Therefore, we need to acquaint ourselves with the Qur’aan, especially because mobile phones have preoccupied many people in this era. Our lives would have been far better through attainment of piety and guidance if this preoccupation with mobile phones is substituted with  looking into the Qur’aan, contemplating and pondering upon it; however, we have exchanged that which is the best for something lower. [End of quote] [Ref 1]

Using a Phone Or a Sat Nav When Driving

Brothers and sisters, there is no doubt that our mobile phones can be of great use; but from what we have witnessed so far is that it has become a great source of distraction for some of us. Amazing indeed is the affair when you see a person sending text messages and constantly checking his WhatsApp messages whilst driving. One has to remember that we place ourselves and others in great danger when engaged in such a reckless deed. On the other hand, this is what the law says regarding such a deed: https://www.gov.uk/using-mobile-phones-when-driving-the-law

[2] Beliefs and Deeds of Those Who Scream and Wail; Slash, Whip and Hit Themselves On The Day of Aa’shooraa: [Origins of The Raafidah]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Question to Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [hafidhahullaah]: Is it correct that the first to innovate the Madhab of the Raafidah was Abdullaah Ibn Saba the Yahoodee?  Response: Yes, without a doubt. The Raafidah or the Shiites in general are of two types: The Shiites from the fire worshipers and the Shiites from the Yahood….they hide behind Islaam in order to corrupt it. The Yahood plotted through Abdullaah Ibn Sabah and the first affair he began with was to ignite fitnah against Uthmaan [radiyallaahu-anhu]. Listen to here: https://safeshare.tv/x/krhxTksllR

Some of the Main Heretics Behind the [Forbidden and Exaggerated] Allegiance to the [Family of Ali (radiyallaahu-anhu)] – By Shaikh Muqbil [rahimahullaah]

Al-Mu’ghee’rah Bin Sa’eed- What do the scholars say about this heretic?

Al-Haafidz Adh-Dhahabi [rahimahullaah] stated in ‘Al-Meezaan’ and Al-Haafidz Ibn Hajr [rahimahullaah] stated in ‘Lisaan Al-Meezaan’ (6/75): [He is] Al-Mughee’rah Bin Saeed Al-Bajalee Al Koofee- the Raafidi, the liar.

Ibn Adee [rahimahullaah] said: ‘There was none in Kufa more cursed than Al-Mughee’rah Bin Saeed due to the falsehood he narrated about Ali [radiyallaahu-anhu].  He was always telling lies about the family of the Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] and he had no chain of narration for what he narrated.’ Al A’mash [rahimahullaah] asked the heretic Al-Mugheerah Bin Saeed, ‘’Did Ali [radiyallaahu-anhu] use to give life to the dead?’’  He replied, “By the One in whose hand my soul is, had Ali wished, he could have brought Aad and Thamud back to life.’’

The End of Al-Mughee’rah the Raafidi – the Liar

AbuBakr Bin Ayyaash [rahimahullaah] said: I saw Khaalid Bin Abdillaah Al Qasree [an Umayyad governor in Iraq] when he approached Al-Mughee’rah Bin Saeed and his followers; then he [Khaalid] killed a man amongst them and said to Mughee’rah, ‘’Bring him back to life’’, because Mugheerah used to hold that he can give life to the dead.  So, Al-Mugheerah said, ‘’I swear by Allaah! I cannot give life to the dead.’’  Khaalid ordered that grass be brought to kindle a fire; then he said to Al-Mugheerah, ‘’Enter it’’, but he refused.  Then a man amongst Al-Mugheerah’s companions rushed into the [fire] and burnt completely. So khaalid said to Al-Mugheerah, ‘’Wallaahi, he is worthier of leadership than you”. Thereafter, he [khaalid] killed Al-Mugheerah and his companions.

Ishaaq Bin Muhammad An-Nakha-ee Al-Ahmar- What do the scholars and Imaams of the Sunnah say about him?

Haafidh Ad-Dha’habee [rahimahullaah] stated in ‘Al-Meezaan’ and Ibn Hajr [rahimahullaah] stated in ‘Lisaanul Meezaan’ (1/370): Ishaaq Bin Muhammad An-Nakha’ee Al-Ahmar was a liar and a deviant amongst the Ghulaat (extremists).

Al-Khateeb [rahimahullaah] said: I heard Abdul Waahid Bin Ali Al-Asadee [rahimahullaah] saying: Ishaaq bin Muhammad An-Nakha’ee was upon a filthy school of thought, and he said that Ali [radiyallaahu-anhu] is Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic].

Al-Hasan Bin Yahyaa An-Nawbakh’tee (1) [rahimahullaah] stated in his book titled ‘Ar-Radd Alal Ghulaat’ [A refutation against the extremists]: Ishaaq Bin Muhammad Al-Ahmar claimed that Ali [radiyallaahu-anhu] is Allaah [Glorified be Allaah and free is He from all imperfections] and that Ali [radiyallaahu-anhu] manifested himself in Al-Hasan, and then in Al-Husain [radiyallaahu-anhumaa]; and that Ali [radiyallaahu-anhu] was the one who sent Muhammad [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] as a Messenger.

These are some of the fairy tales [or superstitions] and lies of the Raafidah and [none] can protect you from these falsehoods except Allaah [Glorified be He and free is He from all imperfections]. Therefore, you should hold fast to the Book [of Allaah] and the [authentic] Sunnah of His Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam], and Allaah guides whomsoever He pleases to the straight path.

And do not think that these fairy tales [or superstitions] have ceased and decreased, [rather] due to these fairy tales, the Raafidah of Iran are still waiting for the emergence of Muhammad Bin Al-Hasan Al-Askari. (2)

(1) Al-Hasan Bin Yahyaa An-Nawbakh-tee (rahimahullaah) should not be confused with Hasan ibn Musa An-Nawbakhtee who was a Shia writer. (2) They claim that this Hasan Al-Askari is hiding in a tunnel waiting to emerge.  We’ll see the falsity of this claim Inshaa-Allaah.

The Saba’iyyoon hiding Themselves in Islaam

The Saba’iyyoon are the companions of Abdullaah Bin Saba, who said to Ali, “You are; you are”; meaning, “You are the deity”. Haafidh Adh-Dhahabi [rahimahullaah] said: Abdullaah bin Saba was from the extremists amongst the heretics- misguided and misguiding others.   Ibn Asaakir [rahimahullaah] said: He [Abdullaah Bin Saba] was originally from Yemen; a Yahoodi who manifested Islaam [i.e. showed that he was a Muslim], travelled around the Muslim lands to turn them away from obedience to their leaders and to bring about evil between them, and he entered into Damascus for that reason.

Abu Ya’laa [rahimahullaah] reported in his Musnad from Al-Jalaas who said, ‘’I heard Ali [radiyallaahu-anhu] saying to Abdullaah Bin Saba, ‘’Indeed, there will be thirty liars at the approach of the hour”, and you are one of them. Abdullaah bin Saba had followers and they were called the Saba’iyyoon.  They believe that Godhead is with Ali [radiyallaahu-anhu].  And indeed Ali [radiyallaahu-anhu] burnt them with fire during his Khilaafah. And do not think that the followers of Abdullaah Bin Saba have perished, [rather] there is that leader of misguidance -khumeini, who displays jealousy for Islaam, yet he destroys its pillars. And some of the ignorant ones amongst the Ikhwan al- Muslimoon were deceived by Khumeini, and they used to mention him on the pulpits; but when the Book titled: ‘Jaa’a Dawrul Majoos’ came out, they were shaken. They keep quiet and did not praise Khumeini [anymore]. Perhaps the Muslims will take a lesson from the story of Abdullaah Bin Saba and be warned against the machinations [or secret plots] and filth of the Raafidah, because their call is based on deception. Similarities Between Raafidah, Deviated Yahood and Nasaaraa

Shaikh Rabee [hafidhahullaah] stated:

1: Yahood said that leadership is not appropriate except for a man from the family of Dawood. The raafidah say that leadership is not appropriate except for a man from the children of Ali Bin Abee Taalib [radiyallaahu anhu]. 2: Yahood said that there is no jihaad until the dajjaal appears…. The raafidah say that there is no jihaad until the mehdi appears. .. 3: The yahood delay the maghrib prayer until the stars appear, likewise the raafidah delay it. 4: The yahood distort the (verses and meaning of the) torah and the raafidah distort the (verses and meanings of the) Qur’aan. 5: The Yahood hate Jibreal (alayhis salaam ) and they say: “He is our enemy amongst the Angels.” Likewise a group amongst the raafidah say that Jibreal (alayhis salaam ) made a mistake by giving the revelation to Muhammad (sallal.laahu.alayhi wasallam ); rather he was sent to Ali. 6: The yahood used to hate the sahaabah and likewise the raafidah hate the sahaabah.

Some similarities between the raafidah and the nasaaraa

1: The nasaaraa innovated many religious holydays. Likewise, the raafidah (innovated the religious holidays) for the days when Umar and uthmaan were murdered. 2: The nasaaraa make pictures of Eesaa and Maryam (alayhimas salaam) and place them in their churches. They exalt them and prostrate to them. Likewise, the raafidah make pictures of their imaams–they exalt them; rather they make sujood to them and to their graves… [An Excerpt from ‘Man Hum Irhaabiyyoon, Ahumus Safiyyoon Aw Rawaafid: pages 20 onwards. The Perils of False Representation: [An Admonition to All Manipulative Instigators Who Discretely And Secretly Betray Trust, Conceal Facts, Dupe Unsuspecting Admirers, Threaten Speakers of Truth And Hide Their Affair From Those Who Are Able to Reprimand Them]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

The Imaam [rahimahullaah] stated that one should beware of kadhib [lying], for indeed it corrupts one’s ability to illustrate information based on what it should be in reality. It corrupts one’s ability to illustrate information and his ability to teach the people. The liar portrays what is non-existent as something present and what is present as something non-existent. He portrays truth as something false and falsehood as something true; he portrays good as evil and evil as good, so this corrupts his conception and knowledge, which then becomes a punishment upon him. Then he portrays what is not true to the one deceived by him – the one who is inclined towards him- so he corrupts his conception and knowledge. The soul of the liar turns away from the existing reality -inclined towards what is non-existent and gives preference to falsehood.

And when his conception and knowledge is corrupted, which is the basis of every wilful chosen deed, his deeds become corrupt and marked by lies, so those deeds would emanate from him just as lies emanate from the tongue- he neither benefits from his tongue nor his deeds. This is why lying is the basis [or foundation] of immorality, just as the Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said, “Indeed lies lead to immorality [or wickedness] and indeed immorality [or wickedness] leads to the fire. [Bukhaari 2606/2607]

Firstly lies emerges from the heart and then on the tongue, so it corrupts it; then it transfers to the limbs and corrupts its actions, just as it corrupts the statements of the tongue. Therefore, lying prevails over his statements, deeds and state of affairs; corruption becomes deeply rooted in him and its disease leads to destruction if Allaah does not grant him cure him with the medication of truthfulness, which uproots its (i.e. lying) from its original source.

This is why the basis [or foundation] of all the deeds of the hearts is based on truthfulness; and the basis of their opposites – such as showing off, self-amazement, pride, being glad [with ungratefulness to Allaah’s Favours], conceitedness, boastfulness, insolence, weakness, laziness, cowardice,  disgrace and other than them- is lies. The origin of every righteous deed- whether carried out in private or public- is based on truthfulness. And the origin of every corrupt deed – whether carried out in private or public- is lies.

Allaah punishes the liar by preventing him from those affairs that will bring him well-being and benefit, and He rewards the truthful one by granting him the ability to attain the beneficial affairs related to the worldly life and afterlife. There is nothing similar to truthfulness with regards to the manner in which it bring about the affairs of wellbeing in this life and the next, and there is nothing similar to lying with regards to the manner in which it corrupts and harms one’s worldly affairs and the afterlife. [Allaah (The Most High) said]: [ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَكُونُوا مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ – O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds) [9:119] [هَٰذَا يَوْمُ يَنْفَعُ الصَّادِقِينَ صِدْقُهُمْ ۚ- This is a Day on which the truthful will profit from their truth. [5:119] [ فَإِذَا عَزَمَ الْأَمْرُ فَلَوْ صَدَقُوا اللَّهَ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَهُمْ – And when the matter (preparation for Jihad) is resolved on, then if they had been true to Allah, it would have been better for them. [47:21]

And those who made excuses from the Bedouins came (to you, O Prophet) asking your permission to exempt them (from the battle), and those who had lied to Allah and His Messenger sat at home (without asking the permission for it); a painful torment will seize those of them who disbelieve. [9:90]

Slave of The Deenaar And Dirham

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Narrated Abu Hurairah [radiyallaahu-anhu]: The Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said, “let the slave of the Deenaar and Dirham, and Qateefah and khameesah [i.e. money and luxurious clothes] perish, for he is pleased if these things are given to him, and if not, he is displeased”. [Bukhaari. Number 2886]

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] commented on this hadeeth as follows:

This hadeeth is about the one who only seeks after the Dunyah [worldly possessions] and does not desire the Hereafter; rather his only desire is Dunyah. He does not give concern to his religion, rather his only concern is the Dunyah; so if he is given something from the Dunyah he becomes pleased with Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] and the people; but if he is not given from it, he becomes displeased with Allaah and the people.

[تعس ]- meaning ‘destroyed’.  [التعس] means ‘destruction’ and unsuccessful. [Allaah (The Most High) said]: [وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فَتَعۡسً۬ا لَّهُمۡ – But those who disbelieve (in the Oneness of Allah), for them is destruction. (47:8)]

Why is he called a slave [of the Deenaar and dirham]? That is because he attaches his heart to it [i.e. wealth], so the worldly life becomes as if it is his lord. He attaches his heart to it and becomes enslaved by it. The poet says:

*I obeyed my desires and thus they enslaved me

*And had I indeed been satisfied [with what I have] I would have been free

Therefore, this man’s concern is [only] the Dunyah- if given from it he becomes pleased, praises and extols; but if not given, indeed he is displeased and angry, just as Allaah [Glorified be He and free is He from all Imperfections] stated about the hypocrites:

وَمِنۡہُم مَّن يَلۡمِزُكَ فِى ٱلصَّدَقَـٰتِ فَإِنۡ أُعۡطُواْ مِنۡہَا رَضُواْ وَإِن لَّمۡ يُعۡطَوۡاْ مِنۡہَآ إِذَا هُمۡ يَسۡخَطُونَ

And of them are some who accuse you (O Muhammad) in the matter of (the distribution of) the alms. If they are given part thereof, they are pleased, but if they are not given thereof, behold! They are enraged! [9:58]

Their pleasure and displeasure is attached to wealth. The one who (becomes) pleased and displeased (solely) for the sake of wealth is a hypocrite, a slave of the Deenaar and the Dirham. Allaah [The Most High] said: [ وَلَوۡ أَنَّهُمۡ رَضُواْ مَآ ءَاتَٮٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ۥ وَقَالُواْ حَسۡبُنَا ٱللَّهُ سَيُؤۡتِينَا ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦ وَرَسُولُهُ ۥۤ إِنَّآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ رَٲغِبُونَ – Would that they were contented with what Allah and His Messenger () gave them and had said: “Allah is Sufficient for us. Allah will give us of His Bounty, and (also) His Messenger (from alms, etc.). We implore Allah (to enrich us)]. [9:59]

This (hadeeth) conveys a rebuke against covetousness and that a person should not solely be pleased or displeased due to the Dunyah, rather his anger and pleasure should be for the sake of his religion and for the sake of Allaah. As for the Dunyah, if he is given something of it he takes it; but if not given anything from it, then indeed he should say: “Allaah suffices me and He will give me give from His bounty”.

When the Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] used to distribute wealth, he used to give those whose Eemaan was weak and the hypocrites – gave them more; but he did not give anything to the best of the Sahaabah; rather he entrusted them to their religion, for indeed due to their [strong] Eemaan they would not become angry if not given. As for the people of weak Eemaan, the Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] feared that they will be enraged, so he gave them and brought their hearts closer [the religion].

So this [hadeeth also conveys the affair of] piety and that it is obligated on a person not to attach his heart to the Dunyah [i.e. in the blameworthy manner mentioned in this hadeeth] – solely getting angry and pleased due to it; rather he should attach his heart to Allaah. As for the Dunyah, if he is given something lawful from it- which he did not ask for- then indeed he takes it and utilises it as a means of obedience to Allaah; but if he is not given anything, then indeed his religion suffices him and he places his trust and reliance in Allaah. This is the difference between the people of the Dunyah [i.e. those who solely strive for it at the expense of the Aakhirah] and the people of the Deen [i.e. those who seek after lawful provision in the worldly life and make the afterlife their main goal].

Salaf Fled From ahlul bidah, But You Miskeen- [Very Needy in Your Understanding, Firmness etc] – Sit With Them!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allaah [The Most High] said:

[وَلَا تَرۡكَنُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ فَتَمَسَّكُمُ ٱلنَّارُ -And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you]. [Surah Hud: Ayah 113]

The word [ظلم –wrong] in [this ayah] can [mean] disbelief; it can mean bidah and it can be [فسوق  i.e. sinful, immoral behaviour], because (ظلم) can be applicable to all [i.e. in different contexts]. Therefore, we refrain from inclining towards the evil doers, the people of bidah, the Kuffaar, the Ilmaaniyyoon and other than them. And we protect ourselves, our Aqeedah, the Eemaan and sound religion which Allaah has bestowed on us.

It is enough for us to remember that the Salaf fled from Fitan – not mixing, sitting and debating with the people of Fitan. And even amongst them, such as the likes of Ayyoub As-Sakhtiyaanee and Ibn Seereen did not listen to the speech of those [people of bidah]. And when Ibn Seereen was asked,  “Why do you not speak; why do you not listen to them?” He said, “Indeed, my heart is not in my hands! I am not in control of my heart; I fear for myself that I may be misguided”. So the likes of these Imaams feared fitna and deviation for themselves; but you the Miskeen possess that bravery to enable you to challenge ahlul bidah….!!! Many people say, “We sit with ahlul ahwaa [i.e. the people of desires] and we take [from them]; we distinguish between truth and falsehood; we take what is truth and abandon falsehood”, whilst he [i.e. the utterer of this speech] is a Miskeen who can neither distinguish between truth and falsehood nor is he in control of his heart. How many a young person has been put to trial through this satanic view and thus he [becomes] degraded, reverts back on his heels [into misguidance] and depraved, and Allaah’s Aid is sought. He falls prey in the arena of the people of fitan! Therefore, it is obligated on a student of knowledge not to [regard] himself safe from ahlul bidah, for indeed he is not more knowledgeable than Ayyoub and Ibn Seereen, nor can he reach their station [in knowledge, piety etc] and those who followed them.

Opponents Had Nothing to Offer Besides Spreading Doubt in Public But Their Evil Plots Backfired

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

[وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ ٱئۡتُونِى بِكُلِّ سَـٰحِرٍ عَلِيمٍ۬ -And Fir’aun (Pharaoh) said: “Bring to me every well-versed sorcerer]; meaning: ”Everyone who is proficient in magic; magicians who can perform different types of magic and are at different levels of proficiency in their field”.  So when the magicians arrived to defeat Moosaa and Haaroon, Allaah says that Moosaa said to them: [أَلۡقُواْ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلۡقُونَ-Cast down what you want to cast!]; Moosaa said this to them because he did not care about what they were going to do first, for he was certain that he will defeat them and nullify their falsehood (by the aid of Allaah).  So after they threw their ropes, which appeared as serpents in the eyes of the people, Allaah says that Moosaa said to them:

مَا جِئۡتُم بِهِ ٱلسِّحۡرُ‌ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَيُبۡطِلُهُ ۥۤ‌ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُصۡلِحُ عَمَلَ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ

“What you have brought is sorcery, Allah will surely make it of no effect. Verily, Allah does not set right the work of Al-Mufsidun (the evil-doers, corrupts, etc.); meaning: Indeed, you want to aid falsehood against truth and Allaah will nullify your actions.

This will also be the case with every corrupter- the one who uses tricks, devices plots and evil plans- for indeed his deeds will be of no effect. And even if he has weapons to aid him pursue his goal at a particular time period, however the end result will be nothing for him and Allaah will make the truth apparent. As for those who do righteous deeds for the sake of Allaah -deeds that are based on the beneficial ways and are based on what Allaah has commanded- then indeed Allaah will bless their deeds, make them bear righteous end results and make them remain  (as a source of good for themselves & an example for others to follow).

So when Moosaa threw his staff, it became a real serpent and swallowed all the ropes that were thrown by the magicians and made to look like serpents in the eyes of the people, and thus their magic was nullified and their falsehood obliterated.

Allaah [The Most High] says: [وَيُحِقُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡحَقَّ بِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦ وَلَوۡ ڪَرِهَ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ – And Allah will establish and make apparent the truth by His Words, however much the Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) may hate it].

After the magicians witnessed the truth, they prostrated (in repentance to Allaah); so Fir’awn threatened them – that he will crucify them, and cut their hands and legs, but they gave no concern to Fir’awn’s threats; rather they remained steadfast upon their Eemaan. As for Fir’awn and his chiefs, then not a single one of them believed, rather they persisted upon transgression, and this is why Allaah [The Most High] says:

But none believed in Musa (Moses) except the offspring of his people, because of the fear of Fir’aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, lest they should persecute them; and verily, Fir’aun (Pharaoh) was arrogant tyrant on the earth, he was indeed one of the Musrifun (polytheists, sinners and transgressors, those who give up the truth and follow the evil, and commit all kinds of great sins).

[فَمَآ ءَامَنَ لِمُوسَىٰٓ إِلَّا ذُرِّيَّةٌ۬ – But none believed in Musa (Moses) except the offspring of his people]; Meaning: The youth amongst Bani Israa’eel, who exercised patience due to the Eemaan that was firmly established in their hearts, whilst being in a state of fear because Fir’awn had complete authority and power in the land, so it is expected that he will seek to punish them, for he was an extreme transgressor.

And the wisdom -and Allaah knows best- behind the fact that only the offspring of Moosaa’s people believed in Moosaa, is because the offspring- the youth- are more likely to accept the truth and quicker to submit to it, as opposed to the old people and those similar to them – those who were brought up in a religion of disbelief, for indeed due to the corrupt creed that is established in their hearts, they are the ones most likely not to accept the truth.

The Evil End of a People Who Disbelieved And Misused The Amazing Physical Strength Bestowed Upon Them

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah [The Most High) informed us that Hud (alayhis-salaam) said to his people:

وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُمْ بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ

And when you seize you seize as tyrants.

Imaam Ibnul Jawzi (rahimahullaah) said: ‘’And when you seize you seize as tyrants’’- Meaning: When you hit with a whip, you hit like tyrants. And when you punish people, you kill.  Hud (alayhis-salaam) disapproved of that because it was done out of oppression; for had they hit with a sword or a whip based on what is right, they would not have been blamed. [Ref 1]

Imaam as-Saa’di (rahimahullaah) said: And when you seize’’ the creation (i.e. your opponents), you seize as tyrants’’ in killing, hitting and seizing wealth.  Indeed, Allaah granted them great strength and it was incumbent upon them to utilize their strength in obedience to Allaah; however they were boastful and arrogant.  And they said: ‘’Who is mightier than us in strength?’’ and they utilized their strength in disobedience to Allaah, and in futility and foolishness.  Therefore, their Prophet (Hud) forbade them from that. [Ref 2]

Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [rahimahullaah] stated about the statement of Allaah: [وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُمْ بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ – And when you seize, you seize as tyrants?]. This is a rebuke against Aad-the people of Hud [alayhis-salaam]. Allaah rebuked them and that they are oppressors who strike people without right. They oppress people by way of striking, killing and seizing wealth by force. This is a rebuke against them and a blameworthy trait of theirs. This [behaviour of theirs] is not permissible. This [i.e. this statement of Allaah] is a rebuke against Aad and a blameworthy affair for which Allaah sent a devastating barren wind against them. They used to oppress the people and transgressed against them. [Ref 3]

Words of Advice For The Smoker, Especially The One Who Smokes During Hajj and Umrah – [Admonitions By Shaikh Uthaymeen and Shaikh Abdur Razzaaq Al-Badr]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Shaikh Uthaymeen [rahimahullaah] said:

Smoking is forbidden due to the evidences found in the Qur’aan and the Sunnah, and based on sound opinion.  Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] said: [وَلا تَقْتُلُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيماً  – And do not kill yourselves (nor kill one another). Surely, Allah is Most Merciful to you] [Soorah Nisaa: Ayah: 29]

It is well-known that smoking causes harm to the body which may appear sooner or later, and this is an affair agreed upon by the doctors of today after the advancement of medicine. Smoking also disfigures the teeth, the lips etc.

Also, Allaah [the Most High] said: [وَلا تُؤْتُوا السُّفَهَاءَ أَمْوَالَكُمُ الَّتِي جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ قِيَاماً – And give not unto the foolish your property which Allah has made a means of support for you]. Therefore, Allaah clarified the wisdom behind wealth and that He made it a means of support through which the Religious and worldly benefits are established. And it is well known that spending wealth on cigarettes neither supports Religious nor worldly benefits, rather it does the opposite.

And from the evidences in the Sunnah concerning the impermissibility of smoking is that the Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] forbade the squandering of wealth, and squandering wealth is when it is spent in other than what is beneficial. It is well known that spending wealth on smoking is a spending in which there is no benefit, rather it is spending in that which is harmful.

As for sound opinion, then sound intellect necessitates that a person does not partake in that which harms him and wastes his wealth, whilst he is a believer and that he will be brought to account. Therefore, sound intellect necessitates that a person does what benefits him and leaves what harms him, and from the perfection of [one’s religion and character] is to leave that which is of no benefit.

The affairs are three: Beneficial things, Harmful things and Things in which there is neither harm nor benefit.  The first affair is sought after, the second affair is blameworthy, and regarding the third affair, a person refrains from it out of seeking perfection in his affairs, but there is no blame on him if he does it. [End of quote. Ref 1]

Question to Shaikh Abdur Razzaaq Al-Badr [hafidhahullaah]

What is your advice to the smokers?

Answer: We advise the smoker to seek after [great] benefit from this precious opportunity [i.e. Hajj] in this blessed land – this land from which the light of Eemaan started and spread to others regions of the Dunyah – by abandoning cigarettes. Many, many people abandoned smoking forever after coming to this land [i.e. for Hajj or Umrah]. Fear of Allaah, submission to Allaah and being truthful to Allaah entered the heart, so he [i.e. that pilgrim] abandoned smoking and never returned to it. There are many stories regarding this affair. A pilgrim told me that he started smoking from an early age. Once he was at Arafah with a cigarette in my hand, whilst the people -on his right and left-were supplicating, but he was smoking. So, he said to himself, ‘’Even at this present moment I am still smoking?!’’ So, he got rid of the cigarette and raised his hands [in supplication] together with the people. One of the supplications he made was that Allaah saves him from cigarettes and he did abandon smoking thereafter – forever. Therefore, the one who comes to this land should fear Allaah and utilise this opportunity to abandon smoking forever. There are a number of affairs that will also help him abandon smoking:

Firstly, every smoker should know that smoking is Haraam. Many scholars have issued verdicts to show that it is Haraam based on many evidences from the Qur’aan and the [authentic] Sunnah. [From them is the statement of Allaah]: ”And do not throw yourselves into destruction.” [Surah Al-Baqarah’ Aayah 195]. And Allaah said: ”He allows them as lawful At-Taiyibat [(i.e. all good and lawful) as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.], and prohibits them as unlawful Al-Khaba’ith (i.e. all evil and unlawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.)” [Surah Al-A’raaf. Aayah 157].  Smoking is khabeeth.

Secondly, all doctors are unanimously agreed on the fact that smoking harms a person’s health and it is one of the greatest causes of cancer.

Thirdly, smoking is a waste of wealth and a means of placing wealth in the hands of the enemies [of Islaam]. So, the cigarettes harm his health and strengthen his enemy. If the smoker was asked, “You have been smoking for forty or fifty years, what benefit have you acquired from it?!” There is not a single benefit; however the harms are great indeed. He will realise the harm on his health, wealth etc Therefore, the one afflicted with smoking should fear Allaah and utilise this opportunity [in this blessed land] to abandon smoking forever, repent to Allaah and supplicate to Allaah to help him abandon smoking. Verily! We Have Made That Which Is On Earth As An Adornment For It, In Order That We May Test Them As to Which of Them Are Best In Deeds

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah (The Most High) stated:

إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ زِينَةً لَّهَا لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا

وَإِنَّا لَجَاعِلُونَ مَا عَلَيْهَا صَعِيدًا جُرُزًا

Verily! We have made that which is on earth as an adornment for it, in order that We may test them (mankind) as to which of them are best in deeds. [i.e.those who do good deeds in the most perfect manner, that means to do them (deeds) totally for Allah’s sake and in accordance to the legal ways of the Prophet]. And verily! We shall make all that is on it (the earth) a bare dry soil (without any vegetation or trees, etc.).

Imaam Sadi (rahimahullaah) stated: Allaah (The Most High) informed (us) that He has made everything on the face of the earth- such as the delicious foods and drinks, the beautiful houses, the trees, the rivers, the vegetations, the fruits, the beautiful scenes (or beautiful things that captures the attention of the eyes), the pretty gardens, the beautiful images, gold, silver, horses, camels and other than them- as an adornment for it, a trial and test.  [لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا -that We may test them (mankind) as to which of them are best in deeds]; that is: The most sincere (i.e. sincerity in worship) and most correct (i.e. carry out deeds in accordance with the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet).

And besides this, Allaah will (finally) make all these things disappear and the earth will return to been a bare dry soil- its enjoyment will disappear and come to an end. This is the reality of this worldly life! Indeed Allaah has made this worldly life clearly visible to us and warned us not to be deceived by it. He urged us towards the home of the (afterlife) – whose enjoyment is ever lasting- out of mercy to us. However, the one who merely looks at the outward appearance of this worldly life and not its true reality is deceived by its adornment and beauty; so he goes along with it like animals do and enjoy himself like cattle that graze around freely. He neither gives concern to the rights of his Lord nor gives importance to knowing his Lord; rather his concern is only to follow his desires in every way he can and in every situation. When death arrives to the likes of these people, they are restless because of the disappearance of the enjoyment (of the worldly pleasures) and due to what they have sent forth of evil deeds.

As for the one who looks at the true reality of this worldly life and knows the true purpose behind it and from it, he utilises from it that which will aid him to fulfil the reason it was created for him (i.e. he utilises the worldly blessings in obedience to Allaah). He utilises his noble lifespan as an opportunity (to obey Allaah). He makes this worldly life a place of transition and not a place of permanent (joy); a place of travel and not a place of permanent residence. Therefore, he strives to know his lord, fulfil the commands of his Lord (and keep away from what his Lord has forbidden) and (strives to) perfect his deeds. This person has the highest station in the presence of his Lord and he is deserving- (by the kindness and mercy of his Lord) – of every good treatment, bliss, nobility and happiness (in the hereafter).

Four Obstacles In The Servant’s Path to Well-being And Safety

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said:

Disobedience is the cause of being in shaytaan’s captivity and a prisoner of lowly desires. A disobedient person is always in the captivity of his devil, the prison of his lusts and leadership of his desires. He is a captive and a shackled prisoner. There is neither a captive whose state of affairs is more evil than that of a captive whose captor is his worst enemy, nor is there a prison more restricted than the prison of desires, and shackles that are more restrictive than the shackles of lust; so how can a heart that is a captive and a shackled prisoner follow the path to Allaah and the home of the afterlife? How can he follow a single path when the heart is shackled and stricken with harm from every angle as a result of the [severity] of its shackles? The likeness of the heart is that of a bird; it distances from harm whenever it flies high and surrounded by harm whenever it lands. It is reported in a hadeeth: ‘’Shaytaan is a wolf to a human being.’’ And just as an unprotected sheep in the midst of wolves is quickly destroyed, likewise if there is no protection from Allaah for the slave, it is inevitable that his wolf will prey on him.

He is protected by Allaah through Taqwaah. Taqwaah is a shield and shelter from Allaah between the person and his wolf; just as it is a shield against punishment in this life and the afterlife. Whenever the sheep is closer to its shepherd, it is safer from the wolf and whenever it is distanced from the shepherd, it comes closer to being destroyed. So the sheep is more protected when it is closer to the shepherd, for the wolf only takes away the [sheep, cattle]  that are distanced and far away from the shepherd.

The basis of this affair is that whenever the heart is distanced from Allaah, then harm upon it is quicker, and whenever it is comes closer to Allaah, it is distanced from harm. Being distanced from Allaah is of various levels and some are more severe than others. Being distanced from [Allaah] through disobedience is greater than being distanced from [Allaah] through thoughtlessness; being distanced from [Allaah] through bidah is greater than being distanced from [Allaah] through disobedience, and being distanced from [Allaah] through hypocrisy and shirk is greater than all of that.
