Abu Uthmaan An-Naysabooree (rahimahullaah) said:

Whoever commands himself with the Sunnah in speech and action will speak with wisdom. And whoever commands himself with desires in speech and action will speak with innovation. [Hilyatul Awliyaa: 10/244]
