A Short Notification to The Who Says, ‘’Why can’t we consider people in other countries to be scholars when it is the case that….

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Some people – (especially some of those who think that a person they consider to be knowledgeable is not being given his right status) – argue that why can’t we consider people in some other countries to be scholars when it is the case that they graduated and have been teaching for over twenty years just like their classmates who are now considered to be scholars?! We say to them, ‘’The scholars are declared to be scholars by those who are qualified to give them such a title. It is not left to me (a commoner) or yourself [a commoner; (unless am unaware that you have reached the level of those who are qualified to decide who is worthy of being called a scholar or not)]; rather there are those qualified to give this verdict based on what they know about the one they regard to be from the scholars. See what Shaikh Fawzaan says about Shaikh Rabee;

After listening to the above, you (the one who utters this argument) should also know that it not enough to be declared a scholar, rather a person has to be upon a sound methodology because one is judged by the people of knowledge based on what he is upon. See what Shaikh Rabee says here

Is Speaking about Innovators Backbiting? Al Allaamah Al Uthaymeen

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Al Allaamah Ash Shaykh Al Uthaymeen was asked if speaking about the people of innovation is considered backbiting; he answered:

“Speaking about the people of innovation and those who carry unsound concepts or a methodology which is not upright, (then) this is from advice, and not backbiting.
Rather it is (an act of) sincerity to Allaah, His Book and His Messenger (by carrying out what is commanded and forbidding evil etc) and it is (act of sincerity) to the muslims (by giving them good advice).

So if we see an innovator spreading his innovation then it is obligatory that we make clear that he is an innovator so that the people are saved from his evil.

(Likewise) If we see an individual who has an ideology/concept opposing that which the Salaf were upon, then it is obligatory for us to clarify that so that people are not deceived by him.(Likewise) If we see a person who has a specific methodology (whose) outcome is evil then it is obligatory for us to clarify that so that the people are saved from his evil, and this (done) out of sincerity to Allaah, His Messenger and His Book; and it is sincerity to the rulers and their subjects (by giving good advice so that they saved from evil etc).

Regardless of whether speaking about the people of innovation is (done) amongst students (of knowledge) or in other gatherings, this is not backbiting.

And as long as we fear the spread of these innovations, or that concept or that methodology which is in opposition to the methodology of the Salaf; it is obligatory that we clarify so the people are not deceived by that.”

Shaytaan’s Way of Trapping You – Shaykh Baazmool

Shaikh Muhammad Baazmool ( may Allaah preserve him ) stated : They (i.e. the scholars) say, “Shaytaan calls the son of Adam and the first thing he calls him to is shirk; if he (i.e. the person) does not answer his (i.e. shaytaan’s) call, he calls him to bidah; if he does not answer his call, he calls him to commit major sins; if he does not answer his call, he calls him to commit minor sins; if he does not answer his call, he calls him to commit the (deeds that are not forbidden but they are) disliked; if he does not answer him, he calls him to abandon the recommended deeds; if he does not answer his call, he calls him to increase in (partaking) in the permissible (things of the worldly life).

Possessor of Evil Manners is Not a Key to Good – Ash Shaykh Abdur Razzaaq Al Badr

‘Indeed from amongst the people are those who are keys to goodness and closures to evil. And indeed from amongst the people are keys to evil and closures to goodness. So tooba for the one who Allah has made him a key to goodness and wayl to the one who Allah has made a key to evil.”(1)

Shaykh Abdur Razzaq Al Badr comments on this Hadith and extracts 8 affairs if a Muslim was serious about their actualisation he would become a Key for Good and a Closure of Evil.

Fifthly: Good Manners- to adorn yourself with good noble manners and to distance yourself from bad manners that are lowly. So the possessor of noble manners his character protects him from evil and indecency, in contrast to the possessor of an evil character, for indeed his character is evil and runs towards evil and indecency.
