[19] Some Extraordinary Personalities of The First Three Generations

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Mad’khali, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:
When one sits with the Ulamaa, he will learn – first and foremost – manners and etiquettes. The people used to travel to Malik, may Allah have mercy upon him, from different regions of the earth, and one of those who travelled to him was Yahyah Ibn Yahyah An-Naysaburi, may Allah have mercy upon him – the great Imaam, about whom Imam Ahmad said: “I have not seen someone like him”. He read Al-Muwatta to Malik, then he remained with him. Malik noticed that and (wondered) why Yahyah was still with him! So, he patiently waited and after a long time he asked Yahyah: “Why are you (still) sitting here [i.e. seeking knowledge from me]”? He said: “To learn from your manners”.
