Malik Ibn Deenaar, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:
“Since I came to know people, neither have I rejoiced due to their praise nor hated their dispraise”. It was asked: “Why is that?” He said: “Because indeed those who give praise and those who met out dispraise are excessive”.
