Malik Bin Deenaar, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:
When a slave (of Allah) seeks knowledge to act upon it, it humbles him. And when he seeks it for other than acting upon it, it increases him in boasting. (1)
Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:
Not everyone adorned with knowledge and wisdom is from its people; rather the people of knowledge and wisdom are those who give life to their hearts by killing (evil) desires. As for the one who kills his heart and gives life to (evil) desires, knowledge and wisdom are only on his tongue (2)
