Abu Khaythama narrated to us, (saying): Jareer related to us from Layth from Mujaahid from Ibn Abbaas, (that): ”There are two types of people with a strong desire and the strong desire of each one of them will not end—the one who has a strong desire in pursuit of knowledge, his desire will not end. And the one who has a strong desire in pursuit of the worldly (things, affairs etc.), his desire will not end.”
Abu Khaythama narrated to us, (saying): Fadl Ibn Dukayn related to us, (saying): Sufyaan informed us from yahyah Ibn Saeed who said: ‘’I heard Al-Qaasim Ibn Muhammad say: ‘’A person lives his (whole) life being ignorant is better for him than giving fataawaa without knowledge.’’ –
Abu Khaythama narrated to us, (saying): Jareer narrated to us from Al-a’mash from Mas’ood Ibn Maalik who said: ”Ali Ibnul Husain said to me, ”Are you able to make me meet with Saeed Ibn Jubayr?” I said: ”What need do you have of him?” He said: ”I want to ask him about some affairs. Indeed, the people commend us for that which we do not possess.” ——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

On the authority of Zur Bin Hubaish who said: I came to Sufyaan Bin Assaal Al-Muraadee so he said to (me): ‘’What have you come for?’’ So I said: ‘’To seek knowledge’’; so he said: ‘’Indeed the angels lower their wings for the one seeking knowledge due to being pleased with what he seeks.”

Abu khaythama (rahimahullaah) reported in Kitaabul Ilm with a chain of transmission going back to Hasan al-Basri, who said: ” When a man sits amongst the people and they consider him to be ignorant even though he is not, then this is the Muslim who possesses understanding in truth.

Al-Allaamah Ubaid Bin Abdillaah Al-Jaabiriy (may Allaah preserve him and prolong his life upon goodness) said: ”The one who knows of the mistake (of a person) and it is manifest to him, then it is not allowed for him to blindly follow a scholar to whom the affair (i.e. the mistake) is hidden……the (verdicts of the scholars based on their striving to reach the correct positions in affairs that require investigation) are not infallible, therefore it is not permissible to adopt (such verdicts) as a methodology (unrestrictedly). Reader: The above is a simple and precise eye opener that unveils the deceitful games of the Hizbiyyoon–those who hide behind the general unexplained statements of some of the upright scholars in order to divert attention from the specific knowledge based proofs established against their deviated figureheads, such as Maribi, Halabi, Maghraawi and other innovators. We seek Allaah’s protection from the deceit and evil games of the hizbiyyoon.
Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said: Bidah is associated with splitting just as the Sunnah is associated with the Jamaa-ah (i.e. the body of Muslims united upon the Qur’aan, the Sunnah and the understanding of the Sahaabah). So it is said: Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jamaa-ah (i.e. the people of Sunnah and the Jamaa-ah) just as it is said: Ahlul Furqa Wal Bidah (i.e. the people of innovation and splitting).
