Supplication for or against the people of Bidah – Clarification of a Senior Scholar

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Supplication for or against the people of Bidah – By Al Allamah Ubaid Al-Jabiri, may Allah have mercy upon him.

Question: May Allah bless you, our Shaikh. This is the seventh question from Saudi Arabia. What is the ruling on making Du’aa for the guidance of those who call to Bidah and Fitan, including the Khawarij, concerning the misguidance they are in?

Response: Those who smake du’aa for them have Salaf (a precedent or basis) for doing so; however, the people of Bidah fall into two groups:

A group who are callers to their Bidah, having loyalty and enmity in that. They exert every effort to attack the people of the Sunnah based on lies, falsehood, and slander. Therefore, whoever makes Du’aa against them to be annihilated, eradicated, and for their efforts to be frustrated, and their plots to be repelled against them, he has a precedent. And whoever makes Du’aa for their guidance, I hold that it should be done in a restricted manner, saying: “O Allah! The one among these people who possses goodness, hasten guidance for him and bring him back to You in a beautiful manner. And for the one does not possess goodness, suffice us against him through whatever way You wish”.

The matter does not reach the level of severe reproach, such that the one who makes Du’aa for their guidance is reprimanded, as if they have committed a grave evil or spoken falsehood, contrary to the first (stance), which is to make Du’aa for them in a restricted manner, saying: O Allah! The one among them who possess goodness, hasten their guidance, and for those who do not possess goodness, suffice us with whatever You will”.

One might say, “O Allah! Show us through them the wonders of Your power in them, and make them a lesson for those who take heed.” Na’am (surely), some callers to Bidah display enmity, hatred and attack against the people of the Sunnah, especially the Khawarij among them. If I wished, I could mention their names, but they are well-known, the leaders of the revolutionary thought that began in the year 1411 are well-know. In reality, these people I make Du’aa against them that Allah destroys their plots, frustrates their efforts, show Ahlus Sunnah a lesson through them, and make them a lesson for those who reflect. However, I do not reprimand those who oppose me and make Du’aa for their guidance; I do not reprimand them, as the Prophet – peace and blessings of Allah be upon him – made Du’aa for the guidance of the unbelievers.

Reflections on some statements of Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Madkhali 86

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

O brothers! I warn you against harbouring intentions of seeking after the Dunyah, its status and authority in the affair of learning and seeking knowledge, because indeed (knowledge of the religion) is worship – amongst the best types of worship; rather the religion, acts of worship, Jihad (1) and a (successful) life cannot be established except by way of this knowledge. However, it is obligated on us to purify our intentions in this worship. “Whoever seeks knowledge by which the pleasure of Allah is sought, but he only acquires it for worldly gain, he will not smell the fragrance of Paradise”.

This is a very important point and a great affair which the students of knowledge must be notified, for indeed many of them are heedless of it. And it may be that a person seeks knowledge for the sake of worldly gain or other goals that are not beloved to Allaah -neither legislated nor permitted by Allaah, and thus they fall into destruction. This affair enters into the rebuke directed at the Yahud.

The likeness of those who were entrusted with the (obligation of the) Taurat (Torah) (i.e. to obey its commandments and to practise its legal laws), but who subsequently failed in those (obligations), is as the likeness of a donkey who carries huge burdens of books (but understands nothing from them). How bad is the example (or the likeness) of people who deny the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah. And Allah guides not the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers, etc.).

I seek the protection (of Allaah) for myself and you from these blameworthy traits – a person possesses knowledge and does not act upon it, so he is either included (amongst those mentioned in this) Aayah or some of it applies to him. May Allaah protect us and you, for indeed the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, informed us about the destination of those who perform acts of worship only to be seen, whether it is a student of knowledge, a scholar, a Mujahid or one who spends his wealth.

O my brothers! Sincerity is a great affair. It is incumbent upon a Muslim to guard it and take himself to account at every moment of his life. One of the Salaf said, “I used to hold that the hadith requires a Niyyah [i.e. sincere intention for seeking knowledge of hadith], but then I realised that every hadeeth requires a (sincere) intention”. Therefore, when you narrate or speak, do you desire praise from the people or do you desire the Face of Allah, The Blessed and Exalted? Do you desire that it is said, “He is a scholar; he is intelligent; he is a learned person of sound, precise and robust understanding” or do you desire the Face of Allaah and to fulfil the responsibility you carry (i.e. knowledge of the religion).

[41] Ascent and Decline of the Ottoman Empire

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Abdul Hamid II

The Islamic University

The concept of the Islamic University did not emerge in the realm of international politics until the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid, specifically after he ascended to the Ottoman throne in 1876. Once Sultan Abdul Hamid caught his breath, he stripped those influenced by European thought of their powers and took firm control of the country and became invested in the idea of the Islamic University. In his memoirs, he spoke about the necessity of strengthening the bonds of Islamic brotherhood among all Muslims worldwide.

He discussed the relationship between the Ottoman Empire and England, which poses obstacles to Ottoman unity. He stated:

“Islam and Christianity are two distinct perspectives, and it is impossible to merge them within a single civilization.” Therefore, he believed that the English had corrupted the minds of the Egyptians, as some began to prioritise nationalism over religion. They think that it is possible to blend Egyptian civilization with European civilization, and England’s aim in promoting nationalist thought in Islamic countries is to undermine my throne. Furthermore, nationalist thought has made significant progress in Egypt. The Egyptian intellectuals have unwittingly become puppets in the hands of the English, thereby undermining the power of the Islamic state and shaking the prestige of the caliphate”. [Footnote a]

He commented on the English policy towards the caliphate:

“The English newspaper Standard stated: ‘Arabia should come under English protection, and England must control the sacred cities of the Muslims’. England is pursuing two objectives: to weaken the influence of Islam and to strengthen its own power. Therefore, the English want the Khedive in Egypt to be the caliph of the Muslims, but there is not a single sincere Muslim who would accept the Khedive as the Commander of the Faithful; for he began his studies in Geneva, completed them in Vienna, and has adopted the characteristics of the unbelievers”.

When the proposal from England emerged to declare Sharif Hussein, the Emir of Makkah, as the Caliph for Muslims, Sultan Abdul Hamid II acknowledged that he lacked the energy and strength to combat European nations. However, the major powers trembled at the might of the Caliphate, and their fear of it led them to agree on the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Empire encompassed a diverse array of ethnicities, including Turks, Arabs, Albanians, Bulgarians, Greeks, and Africans, among others. Despite this diversity, the unity of Islam binds us as one family.

Abdul Hamid II expressed his confidence in the unity of the Islamic world by stating: “We must strengthen our ties with other Muslims everywhere; we need to draw closer to one another, more and more. There is no hope for the future except through this unity. The time for it has not yet come; however, it will come. The day will arrive when all believers unite and rise together as one, and in that moment, they will break the necks of the unbelievers.” [An Excerpt from ‘Ad-Dawlah Al-Uthmaaniyyah Awaamil An-Nuhood Wa Asbaab As-Suqoot 6/461-462]

Ahlus Sunnah Cry Out of Sadness

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Ahlus Sunnah Cry Out of Sadness When The Upright Inheritors of The Prophets Pass Away, So, Do Not Add To Their Sadness With Bad Words

Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: Crying is different types: Crying out of mercy and compassion. Crying out of fear and awe. Crying out of love and longing. Crying out of joy and happiness. Crying out of panic due to the arrival of something painful and unbearable. Crying out of sadness.

The difference between crying out of sadness and crying out of fear: Crying out of sadness is for what has passed of a calamity or the loss of a beloved one. Crying out of fear is for what is expected in the future of that. The difference between crying out of joy and crying out of sadness: Tears of joy are cold and the heart is happy. Tears of sadness are warm and the heart is sad.

Crying out of weakness and vulnerability. Crying out of hypocrisy, when the eyes tear up but the heart is hard, so the person appears to be pious while having one of the hardest hearts.

Borrowed crying, like the crying of a professional mourner for a fee, as Umar ibn Al-Khattab said: “She sells her emotions and cries for the pain of others.”

Crying out of conformity, when a person sees others crying for something that has happened to them, so he cries with them without knowing what they are crying for, but he sees them crying and cries with them. [Zaad Al-Ma’aad (1/184, 185)]

The individual who does not experience a sense of loss following the departure of scholars, particularly after the loss of Al-Allamah Ubaid and Al-Allamah Rabee, may Allah have mercy on them and all the scholars of Ahlus Sunnah who have passed, as well as grant mercy to our parents, either does not comprehend the significance of the scholars or has not gained from their guidance. Since 1995, we have learned about numerous scholars, but Al-Allamah Rabee, may Allah have mercy on him, was specifically highlighted to us for his stance against those who conspire against the authentic Salafi methodology. May Allah bestow upon him abundant mercy and grant him a noble entrance. May Allah bless his descendants and make them righteous. Furthermore, one who does not express gratitude to people will not be grateful to Allah; thus, we extend our thanks to our elder brothers at Salafipublications, who were among the first to introduce us to the works of Al-Allamah Rabee, including elder brothers like Shaikh Abu Talhah, may Allah have mercy on him, and Shaikh Abu Iyaad, may Allah preserve him, through their numerous articles that elucidated the Manhaj during a time when Qutubiyyah, Sururiyyah, Ikhwanis, Salman, Safar, and other misguided personalities were prevalent and promoted by the Hizbiyyoon in the UK. Additionally, may Allah bless all the other teachers at Salafipublications who have also contributed and continue to contribute through their lessons and clarifications based on the works of the senior scholars. May Allah keep us steadfast upon Salafiyyah until we meet Him. Amin.

Reflections on some statements of Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Madkhali 85

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower.

The Shaikh, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

The Reality of Du’aa in the Qur’an

Allah, The Exalted, said:

هُنَالِكَ دَعَا زَكَرِيَّا رَبَّهُۥ قَالَ رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِن لَّدُنكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ ٱلدُّعَآءِ

At that time Zakariya (Zachariya) invoked his Lord, saying: “O my Lord! Grant me from You, a good offspring. You are indeed the All-Hearer of invocation.” [Sal Imran 38]

Allah, The Exalted, also said about Zakariyyah:

When he called out his Lord (Allah) a call in secret, saying: “My Lord! Indeed my bones have grown feeble, and grey hair has spread on my head, And I have never been unblest in my invocation to You, O my Lord! And Verily! I fear my relatives after me, since my wife is barren. So give me from Yourself an heir”. [Maryam 3-5]

The supplication mentioned in Aal-Imran is referred to here as a call, and the call is interpreted in Surah Maryam as a request for a child.

The reality of Du’aa in the Sunnah

Narrated Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “When one of you makes supplication, he should not say: ‘O Allah! Forgive me if you wish’, instead he should have conviction in his request and have great fervent desire (to receive what he is asking for) because there is nothing so great to Allah which He cannot grant”. (Sahih Muslim 2679)

What a servant seeks from his Lord is referred to as Du’aa (supplication), Mas’alah (request) and Raghbah (fervent desire for something), which aligns with the statements of the scholars of the Arabic language.

Narrated from him (Abu Huraira) who said that Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “The supplication of every one of you is granted as long as he does not grow impatient (or hasty)’. It was said, ‘And how does one become impatient (or hasty) O Allah’s Messenger?’ He said, ‘(When) one says, ‘I supplicated but it was not granted'”. (Sahih Ibn Majah 635)

The prophetic narrations, the writings of scholars and compilations of hadith regarding (the meaning of) supplication is something which a person cannot fully encompassed. Nevertheless, when the common people hear the term ‘Du’aa’, nothing comes to their minds except this reality: a call, a request, and seeking.

After the reality of supplication is established and understood in light of the Quran, the Sunnah, the Arabic language, and the circumstances of people, Allah, the Exalted, has commanded us to supplicate to Him and prohibited us from supplicating to others.

He, The Exalted, said:

Invoke your Lord with humility and in secret. He likes not the aggressors. And do not do mischief on the earth, after it has been set in order, and invoke Him with fear and hope; Surely, Allah’s Mercy is (ever) near unto the good-doers. (Al-A’raf 55-56)

Allah commanded us to invoke Him and has taught us the etiquette of supplication, which is hoped to lead to a response, namely: Humility, Secretly, Fear, and Hope.

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah; even though it be against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, be he rich or poor, Allah is a Better Protector to both (than you). So follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you may avoid justice, and if you distort your witness or refuse to give it, verily, Allah is Ever Well-Acquainted with what you do. [An-Nisaa. 135]

Allah, The Exalted, said:

وَإِذَا قُلۡتُمۡ فَٱعۡدِلُواْ وَلَوۡ ڪَانَ ذَا قُرۡبَىٰ‌ۖ

And when you testify, be just, even if (it concerns) a near relative.

When you testify by way of a statement to judge between people, differentiate between them in a discourse, and speak regarding matters and circumstances, be just in your speech, adhere to truthfulness regarding those you love and those you hate, be fair and do not conceal what needs to be made clear because it is forbidden and tantamount to injustice to divert (from justice and fairness) when speaking against the one you hate. “No kings in America!”

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

And their Prophet (Samuel) said to them, “Indeed Allah has appointed Talut (Saul) as a king over you.” They said, “How can he be a king over us when we are better fitted than him for the kingdom, and he has not been given enough wealth.” He said: “Verily, Allah has chosen him above you and has increased him abundantly in knowledge and stature. And Allah grants His Kingdom to whom He wills. And Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures’ needs, All-Knower.” [Surah Al-Baqarah 247]

Imam As-Sadi, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: He [i.e. Talut] was given deep insight and physical strength by way of which he was qualified for his position as king, because if he has deep insight and the ability to implement the right decision, he will be able to fulfil this role in the most perfect manner; but if he lacked one of the two, he would not be able to do his job properly. If he was physically strong but lacked deep insight, then a king would be unsuccessful in running the affairs of the kingdom, because his strength would not be utilised wisely. If he had deep insight but did not have the strength to implement any decisions, his insight would not benefit him because he would not be able to achieve anything. [1]

Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him and his father, said, “The Kings who ruled the eastern and western regions of the earth were two believers and two disbelievers: the two believers were Prophet Sulayman and Dhul Qarnayn, and the two disbelievers were Namrood and Bukhtanasar”. [2]

The Greatest King of all Time (Prophet Sulayman), The Ant, The Hoopoe, The Upright Scholar, The If’reet and The Intelligent Queen!

Hudhayfah reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “The Prophethood will remain amongst you for as long as Allah wills it to be. Then Allaah will raise it when He wills to raise it. Then there will be the khilaafah upon the Prophetic methodology. And it will last for as long as Allaah wills it to last. Then Allaah will raise it when He wills to raise it. Then there will be biting kingship, and it will remain for as long as Allaah wills it to remain. Then Allaah will raise it when He wills to raise it. Then there will be tyrannical (forceful) kingship and it will remain for as long as Allaah wills it to remain. Then He will raise it when He wills to raise it. Then there will be a khilaafah upon the Prophetic methodology”. Then he (the Prophet) was silent.

Affirmation through the divinely revealed text that Mu’aawiyyah was the first king in Islaam, and that from his time, hereditary kingship was the mode of rule, and that Allaah gives the rule to whomever He pleases. And that after the Prophetic khilaafah a biting type of kingship appeared, one in which Islaam was not applied completely in all areas. It was in this midst that the innovations of the Qadariyyah and the Murji’ah also appeared. Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah explains (Majmoo’ 10/354)

The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said: “The khilaafah after me is thirty years, then there will be biting kingship” and for this reason Mu’aawiyah said, “I am the first of the kings”, from the risaalah of Abi Zayd al-Qayrawaanee (1/96). What is the meaning of this hadeeth?

This hadeeth has been related by Imaam Ahmad in al-Musnad, al-Haakim in al-Mustadrak, Abu Ya’laa in al-Musnad, Ibn Hibbaan in his Saheeh and at-Tirmidhee in as-Sunan. And the meaning of the hadeeth has been explained by al-Haafidh (Ibn Hajar) in al-Fath, he said: “He meant by the khilaafah, the khilaafah of prophethood (i.e. the thirty years), and as for Mu’aawiyah and whoever came after him, then they were upon the way of the kings (i.e. kingship) even if they are named “khalifahs”. A sad reality

Set me over the storehouses of the land….

In conclusion, concerning the individual who ascribes to Islam and asserts, “No kings in America”, we are not claiming that he entirely dismisses the concept of kingship unless we encounter a statement from him that suggests such a perspective. Instead, the purpose of this article is to inform our children that kingship is not prohibited, and what should be prioritised is a stable governance rooted in the infallible justice of the Qur’an and Sunnah, as interpreted and implemented by the companions, fair treatment of all individuals and dealing with such leader according to the Sunnah of the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. Proud to follow the path of oppression laid down by forefathers

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

It used to be said: [لِكُلِّ قَوْمٍ وَارِث وَلِكُلِّ أَرْضٍ حَارِث وَلِكُلِّ ضَرٍّ هَالِك – For every people there is an inheritor, every land has a cultivator and every evil has one destroyed by it].

Indeed, it is a valid inquiry as to why certain American or Western ideologues either support the Zionist oppressors or remain silent accomplices to the genocidal maniac Netanyahu, the butcher of Gaza. Historical observations about their ancestors reveal that they valued only their own kind, viewing everyone else as inferior. The brutal Western colonialists did not use diplomatic language to disguise their cruelty; instead, they acted with impunity – abducting millions of black individuals from Africa, stripping them of their humanity, and reducing them to mere chattel, oppressed beings that could be bought and sold at will. Even after the so-called emancipation granted to these black individuals, they employed, for over a century, various forms of deceptions and tactics to further subjugate them, despite their absurd claims of being the champions of progress and civility. Therefore, it requires a significant amount of audacity for those who follow this inhumane path to question why many reasonable people view them, particularly those specific American ideologues, with contempt while they continue to support the Zionists in their slaughter of Palestinians. These individuals have not learned from the errors of their ancestors.

Nevertheless, it is important to remember the skewed religious ties that existed between the Colonialists and the ancestors of the Zionists. Please read further below.

Indeed, a sensible person does not seek to imitate the legacy of misguided forefathers and nations because that would lead to the most severe ramifications in the Hereafter. Allah, The Exalted, said:

(Allah) will say: “Enter you in the company of nations who passed away before you, of men and jinns, into the Fire.” Every time a new nation enters, it curses its sister nation (that went before), until they will be gathered all together in the Fire. The last of them will say to the first of them: “Our Lord! These misled us, so give them a double torment of the Fire.” He will say: “For each one there is double (torment), but you know not.” The first of them will say to the last of them: “You were not better than us, so taste the torment for what you used to earn.” [Al-A’raf 38-39]

[An-Nisaa. 135]

Indeed, it has suddenly turned into a grave issue when individuals make remarks against the IDF that are perceived as glorifying violence, while the genocide in Palestine continues unabated. The world, as promoted by Zionists and their allies among the ideologues, demagogues and rabble rouses, is one where justice is acknowledged only when it aligns with their interests, violence condemned only when it is directed at them, yet justice is overlooked when they are the ones who owe rights to others, and they conveniently ignore the violence inflicted by the IDF on Palestinians. Consider the statements made by these Zionist figures Netanyahu’s son, Yair Netanyahu, Eli Yishai, Bezalel Smotrich, Tally Gotliv, Ben Gvir Itamar, and Arieh King. Please read below:

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Suhail Ibn Abi Salih narrated from his father, who narrated from Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “Verily Allah loves three things for you and He hates three things for you. He loves that you worship Him alone and that you do not join anyone else in your worship of him and that you do not worship other than him; He loves that you hold tight altogether to the rope of Allah and that you do not be divided; and that you advice the one placed in charge over your affairs. And Allah hates for you Qeel Wa Qaal [i.e. he said and she said – spreading rumours]; He hates for you the wasting of wealth and He hates for you excessive questioning [i.e. questioning devoid of benefit]. [Sahih Muslim 1715]
