Abu Moosaa Muhammad Ibnul Muthannaa (rahimahullaah) said:
We used to read to a blind Shaikh, so when the (innovated) speech about the Qur’aan being created occurred in Baghdad the Shaikh said: ”If the Qur’aan is not created, then may the Qur’aan be wiped off my heart (i.e. from my memory).” He (Abu Moosaa) said: When we heard this speech of his, we abandoned him and turned away from him. After some time period we met him and said to him: ”O such and such, what did the Qur’aan do?” He said: ”Nothing of it remains in my chest (i.e. in my memory).” We said: ”Not even قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ?” He said: ”Not evenقُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ except when I hear it being recited by someone else.”

باب ذكر اللفظية، ومن زعم أن هذا القرآن حكاية للقرآن الذي في اللوح المحفوظ كذبوا…/ من شرح الشريعة للآجري-رحمه الله
The imam, the exemplar, the martyr inshaa Allah, Abu Bakr Muhammad Ibn Ahmad Ibn Sahl Ar-Ramli, known as Ibn An-Nabulsi [d.363 AH]1
Ibn Al-Jawzi mentioned concerning Jawhar As-Siqilli the Fatimid general that he said to Abu Bakr An-Nabulsi: “It has reached us that you have said that if a man has ten arrows, he must shoot one arrow at the Romans, and nine at us [The Fatimid Shiites]. He [Abu Bakr] said: “I haven’t said that. Rather, I said that if he has ten arrows, he must shoot nine at you, and the tenth he must shoot at you also! For indeed you have changed the religion, killed the righteous and claimed divine light”. So he [the general] had him brought into public, then beaten and then he ordered a Jew who peeled off his skin.”
Abu Tharr Al-Hafith said: “Banu ‘Ubaid imprisoned him and they crucified him [for being] upon the Sunnah. I heard Ad-Daraqutni mention him while crying, saying: While being skinned he was reciting:
{كَانَ ذَٰلِكَ فِي الْكِتَابِ مَسْطُورًا}
{That has been written in The Book [of decrees]} – [Al-Israa:58]”
Ma’mar Ibn Ahmad said: “A trustworthy individual informed me that Abu Bakr was skinned from the crown of his head to his face. He was making remembrance of Allah and was patient until he [the skinner] reached his chest. The skinner then had pity on him and so stabbed him with a knife into his heart putting an end to his life.”
He also said: “…And when he had been skinned, recitation of The Qur’an could be heard from his body”
“Ibn As-Sa’saa’ Al-Misri related that he saw Abu Bakr Ibn An-Nabulsi in a dream after he had been crucified while he was in the best appearance. So he said: “What did Allah do with you?” He replied:
“My Lord gifted me with eternal honour ~ And He promised me imminent victory
And He brought me close and near to Him ~ And He said: Live delightfully in a life next to Me”
1 Shaikh Abdullah Al-Bukhari spoke concerning this Imam’s crucifixion in his lecture “Steadfastness upon the Sunnah” on 7th Shawwal 1436. The Shaikh and those present in the gathering cried when hearing the patience that this Imam had in remaining steadfast upon the Sunnah.

After mentioning the hadeeth of this Ummah splitting into 73 sects, Shaikh Rabee’ states concerning the saved sect:
“They are the people of truth, they are the people of Sunnah, they are the knowledgeable ones of The Book and The Sunnah, they are the enemies of innovation, misguidance, disbelief, polytheism and all forms of deviation. They love only the truth, basing their loyalty and their hatred upon it.
And you’ll find that many people [erroneously] think that animosity and hatred is only to be directed at the disbelievers! Whereas towards every person who has affiliated himself to Islaam, no hatred is to be directed at him! He deserves nothing but love! He deserves absolute allegiance even if he is from the most despicable people of innovation and the most misguided of them! Even if he has the innovation of Jahm, Bishr Al-Marisi, ‘Amr Ibn ‘Ubaid and others besides them from the Jahmiyyah, Khawaarij, Mu’tazilah, Murji’ah and people of misguidance!”

It is better that all of the supererogatory (prayers) are in the home, except for what has been legislated (to be performed) in the masjid, such as the night prayer during Ramadhan. So for example the sunnah before Dhuhr is better to be done at home, and the sunnah after Dhuhr (likewise) is better in the home. And the sunnah before Fajr is (better) done in the home, and the sunnah after Maghrib is (better) done in the home and the sunnah after Eesha is better to be done in the home.
All of the Nawaafil (supererogatory) are better (to be performed) in the home, due to the statement of the Prophet – sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam – : “The best prayer of a man is (the one performed) in his house, except the obligatory prayers”And the wisdom (behind) the naafila prayer being better in the house is: that the home does not become like a grave, i.e. He does not pray in it. And all of the prayers are a blessing.
Secondly that he makes his family accustomed with the prayer, due to this you will find the young child if he sees his father praying he goes and prays next to him, he stands with him, he bows with him, he prostrates with him and he sits with him. Even if he (the child) doesn’t say a thing, however he follows (his father in the prayer) and this is a booty, that you make your family accustomed to (performance) of the prayer.

Everything [brought about] by the will of Allah is coupled with His wisdom. That is because Allah The Mighty and Majestic doesn’t simply ordain mere decrees, but rather His decree comes from His wisdom. The proof of that is His statement The Most High:
But you cannot will, unless Allah wills. Indeed, Allah is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise. (76:30)
His statement The Most High “Indeed, Allah is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise” indicates that His wisdom is tied to knowledge and wisdom.
Among the causes that bring about increase in one’s imaan is having knowledge of Allah’s names and attributes. Whenever the slave increases in awareness of them, of their implications and effects, then imaan in His Rabb will [consequently] increase, as well as love and veneration of Him. Likewise, contemplating over the universal and legislative signs, whenever the slave observes them, pondering over their amazing power and their superb wisdom (of Allah demonstrated within them), then his imaan will without doubt increase.
Among the causes that bring about an increase in imaan is performing acts of obedience in order to draw closer to Allah The Most High. For indeed imaan then increases by it, in accordance to the excellence of the deed, it’s type and the amount performed. Hence, the better a deed is performed, the greater will be the increase of imaan.
The excellence of a deed is by the ikhlaas [sincerity] and mutaaba’ah [being in agreement with the Sunnah] that it has.
As for the type of deed performed, then indeed obligatory deeds are superior than voluntary ones. Likewise, some acts of obedience are emphasised more than others. Whenever an act of obedience is superior, the resulting increase of imaan will thus be greater.
