[2] Reflections on some statements of Al-Allamah Ubaid

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

The Shaikh’s clarification in 2003 regarding Hijrah to Birmingham

The Shaikh, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

The resolution of this issue is consistent with (what is) found in the Book of our Lord and the Sunnah of our Prophet, as well as (what is stated by) the Imams of knowledge and religion, regarding migration from lands of disbelief to lands of Islam, or from one land of disbelief to another where a Muslim’s religion and honour are safeguarded. Those who sit and accompany me are aware of my stance on this matter. So, I say, and with Allah is the facilitation of success:

Firstly, this hijrah is one of Allah’s ordinances and He has not abrogated it.  He [the Prophet – peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said: ”Hijrah will not cease to continue until repentance ceases to continue, and repentance will not cease to continue until the sun rises from the west.” Therefore, it remains.

Secondly, what is apparent to me concerning Hijrah at present is of two types: Obligation  and Sunnah (i.e. a recommended Sunnah). The Obligatory Hijrah: If a person is in a kafir land, put to trial in his religion and  honour, and he is unable to fulfil what Allah has obligated to him pertaining to his religion and worship of his Lord, Hijrah is obligated to him on the basis of what has already been clarified. If he is able to make Hijrah, he migrates to a Muslim land and this is the foundation of the matter; or to a Kafir land where his religion and honour is safeguarded, as the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, commanded the Muslims to migrate to Habasha [Ethiopia] when the Quraish harmed them. He stated that there was a king (in Habasha) who oppresses no one under his protection, or as he said: ”Oppresses no one with him.”  This is what I affirm and adhere to as devotion to Allah in religion. As for the recommended Hijrah, it is the hijrah from the land of the disbelievers to the lands of Islam in order to strengthen his religion, or to gain knowledge, or to earn lawful earnings in the land of  Islam.

After this is established- and if I did say on a day about making hijrah to Birmingham unrestrictedly, this is a slip and  I seek Allah’s forgiveness from this if it was a sound transmission of the trustworthy people of Sunnah. This is the third matter.

The fourth matter: Many people in Europe and the Asian states, including India, express that they are facing trials in their religion due to certain Mubtadi’ah among the Brelviyyah – the extremist Sufis associated with Wahdatul Wujud and others. So, I say to them, “Migrate to Birmingham, where Maktabah As-Salafiyyah is located”. My response to them is not that Birmingham is a land of Hijrah unrestrictedly, as it is one of the cities of Britain, which is a Kafir Land. I encourage them to relocate to a place where they can connect with Maktabah As-Salafiyyah, participate in lessons and gatherings of knowledge where (there is present) excellent scholars, among them Ash-Shaikh Abdullah Bin Abdir Rahman Al-Ghudiyan, who was a member of the Committee of Major Scholars and the Fatwah Committee of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He imparted knowledge to them and has passed way, may Allah have mercy upon him. Such a Maktabah is indeed worthy of affiliation for those who are unable to find a refuge, particularly for those eager to acquire knowledge of the Shariah, especially in the areas of Aqeedah, Sunnah, and waging war against bidah and its proponents. This is what I mentioned and I affirm it.  And I repeat: if I did say the opposite of this, it is one of two matters, either a slip from me or a distortion of (my speech).  What is from me (i.e. mistake), I seek Allah’s forgiveness, and that which is a distortion of my speech and a forged saying on me, I ask Allah to set it aside between me and my adversaries on the Day of Judgement. Defamation of Salafiyyah and Land Theft- Rebuttal to Samuel, Salem Alketbi and Michael

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah, The Exalted, said:

They want to extinguish Allah’s Light (with which Muhammad SAW has been sent – Islamic Monotheism) with their mouths, but Allah will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the disbelievers hate (it). It is He who has sent His Messenger (Muḥammad) with guidance (which comprises beneficial knowledge) and the religion of truth (which comprises righteous action) to make it manifest it over all other religion (through the authority of proof and evidence), even though the polytheists (and every denier of pure monotheism) may dislike it. [1]

This article serves as a brief response to the viewpoints presented by Samuel J. Hyde, Salem Alketbi and Michael Freund. All three articles can be classified as opinion pieces, primarily reflecting the authors’ perspectives on particular issues. However, it is essential to recognise that many individuals who produce such writings often align themselves with ideological or demagogic stances, articulating opinions that mirror the policies or beliefs of politicians or orientalists regarding specific topics. In the case of Samuel J. Hyde and Salem Alketbi, their articles appear to intentionally misrepresent Salafiyyah, aiming to manipulate public perception. This approach not only misleads the readers but also obscures the truth with falsehoods and introduces ambiguity where clarity is needed, all to serve their own agenda. Therefore, it is essential to avoid the simplistic assumption that these individuals are merely writers sharing their opinions. In truth, many of them are ideologues, demagogues, and provocateurs who endevour to shape the narrative, structure, content, and timing of their published works. They attempt to shape our perceptions of reality, skewing our understanding and leading us to interpret information in a manner that contradicts its actual nature. This can result in a failure to recognise evidence that should prompt a reassessment of our thoughts, causing us to hold onto misconceptions. Furthermore, we may grasp concepts in a particular way while remaining oblivious to alternative interpretations that could equally represent the truth, or we might comprehend information in a manner that overlooks opposing evidence, which is less likely to be accurate.

Samuel J. Hyde and Salem Alketbi adopt an orientalist perspective, whether consciously or not, as they seek to disseminate a misleading narrative concerning Salafiyyah by introducing the notion of Salafi Jihadism. Michael Freund presents a viewpoint that resonates with a belief held by Zionists, grounded in abrogated and distorted Scriptures and historical half-truths. While it is true that the Children of Israel [2] occupied certain territories in the region at various points in history, including Palestine, they are not the original inhabitants. The land has passed through the control of different groups over time, some of whom held sway for significant periods. Yet, Zionists assert their claim to the land as if they are its rightful and eternal heirs. Thus, Freund rides on a trojan horse of distorted scriptures and historical half-truths to advocate for land theft. As we have briefly addressed these matters, we will provide links to those two clarifications—one regarding Salafiyyah and the other concerning the promised land.

Post-Assad regime, where does Syria go from here? – opinion
By SALEM ALKETBI   JANUARY 11, 2025
He stated in this article:
Notably, Julani’s ideological foundation and background in Salafi jihadism have not undergone fundamental transformation – suggesting otherwise reflects unrealistic optimism. Consequently, Arab states must avoid previous strategic miscalculations and prevent Syria from falling under alternative regional hegemony replacing Iran’s previous dominance over Syrian policy during Bashar Al-Assad’s regime.

Antisemitism since biblical times!!!

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah, The Exalted, said:

O people of the Scripture! Now has come to you Our Messenger (Muhammad) explaining to you much of that which you used to hide from the Scripture and passing over (i.e. leaving out without explaining) much. Indeed, there has come to you from Allah a light (Prophet Muhammad) and a plain Book (this Quran). Wherewith Allah guides all those who seek His Good Pleasure to ways of peace, and He brings them out of darkness by His Will unto light and guides them to a Straight Way (Islamic Monotheism). [Al-Ma’idah 15-16]

The purpose of this brief article is not to justify the oppression of any group throughout history. Rather, it serves to clarify a statement found in the Jerusalem Post concerning antisemitism, while also firmly denouncing antisemitism when it appears, without exaggeration. The statement from the Jerusalem Post is as follows:

No person with decency would dispute the fact that Antisemitism, which encompasses prejudice or hostility towards Jewish individuals, should be unequivocally condemned. [Footnote a] Similarly, those who value justice should also denounce Zionism and the violence inflicted upon Palestinians over the last 70 years. [Footnote b] It is incumbent, however, to differentiate between the times when the followers of various Prophets—Jews, Christians, and Muslims—were steadfast, and the times when they violated the commands of Allah and their Prophet. This distinction helps us understand the moral implications of their historical actions. Furthermore, regarding the rejection of the teachings of the noble Prophet Isa, peace be upon him, any Jew who denies his message has turned away from Allah, as Isa was sent to guide them, and this will be further explained shortly, InShaAllah.

Firstly, Allah informed to us in the Qur’an about the challenges faced by the Jews as a result of their disobedience, as well as the periods when they achieved victory through their perseverance and upright devotion. Allah said:

And We decreed for the Children of Israel in the Scripture, that indeed you would do mischief on the earth twice and you will become tyrants and extremely arrogant! [Al-Israa. Ayah 4]- Meaning:

We have declared, made a covenant with them and told them in their book that corruption will certainly occur from them on earth twice through committing sins, showing ingratitude to Allah for His Blessings, exalting themselves on earth and being arrogant therein; and that when one of these two (occasions) come to pass, Allah will give power to their enemies and take revenge on them, and this is an admonition and warning to them so that they may return to obedience and take heed”. [a]

So, when the promise came for the first of the two, We sent against you slaves of Ours given to terrible warfare. They entered the very innermost parts of your homes. And it was a promise (completely) fulfilled. [Al-Israa. 5] – Meaning:

The first of the two occasions during which they become corrupt; if such corruption occurred among them, We sent on you – by way of our all-encompassing divine will and decree- recompense (punishment) at the hands of those people with courage, large numbers, and armed, so, Allah gave them victory over you. They killed you, took your children away, plundered your wealth, invaded and destroyed your homes, entered the Sacred Masjid (Baytul Maqdis), and violated it. It must happen due to a reason from themselves. The Qur’an commentators differed regarding the identity of these people who were sent to overpower them, but they agreed that they were unbelievers. Either they were from the people of Iraq, the Arabian Peninsula, or elsewhere, whom Allah gave (the strength) to overpower the Children of Israel when their sins became rife, they abandoned much of their Shariah, and transgressed in the land. [b]

Then We gave you once again, a return of victory over them. And We helped you with wealth and children and made you more numerous in manpower. [Al-Israa. 6] – Meaning:

(Gave you victory) against those who overpowered you, so you expelled them from your land; increased your sustenance and number, and gave you strength over them because of your righteous deeds and submission to Allah. [c]

(And We said): ‘If you do good, you do good for your own selves, and if you do evil, then it is (to your own selves).’ Then when the later promise came to pass (We enabled your enemies) to put sorrow on your faces (by conquering and enslaving you) and to enter the Mosque (of Jerusalem), as they had entered it the first time, and to destroy everything they came upon with utter destruction. [Al-Israa. 7] [d]

“If you do good, you do good for your own selves” because the benefit will return to you, even in this world [before the hereafter] as you witnessed when he aided you against your enemies. “And if you do evil, then it is [to your ownselves]”, meaning, the harm will return upon yourselves, as Allāh showed you by empowering the enemies [against you]. [e]

“Then when the later promise came to pass”- meaning, the next time you spread corruption on earth, we make your enemies overpower you. “to put sorrow on your faces (by conquering and enslaving you)”- Meaning, given victory over you, capture you, and enter the Sacred Masjid as they entered it the first time, and what is meant by the Mosque is Baytul Maqdis. “and to destroy everything they came upon with utter destruction”- Meaning, destroy your homes, Masjids and crops. [f]

(Thereafter Allāh said): ‘Perhaps your Lord may show mercy to you (if you repent), but if you return (to your sinful ways), then We shall return (to punishment). And we have made Hell an enclosure for the disbelievers. [Al-Israa. Ayah 8] [g]

Within these verses (Al-Israa 7) (al-Israa 8) is a warning to this Ummah (of Muhammad) against committing acts of disobedience lest what afflicted the Children of Israel afflict them as well. The Sunnah (way, rule) of Allāh is one, it does not change or become altered. Whoever looks [and reflects] upon the empowerment of the disbelievers and oppressors over the Muslims will come to know that this was due to their sins, as a punishment to them. [And also to make them realise] that if they enact and establish the Book of Allāh and the Sunnah of His Messenger, He will grant them firm authority in the land and aid them against their enemies. [h] [End of quote]

Therefore, the expression “antisemitism since biblical times” lacks clarity without a historical context. This is due to the fact that the periods during which Jews, Muslims, or Christians experienced repercussions for their actions should be viewed as justified punishment from Allah. This contrasts with the times they faced true oppression for their unwavering commitment to the teachings of the Prophets, peace and blessings of Allah be upon them. But during the time when many Jews turned away from the teachings of noble Prophet Isa, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, they only can be regarded as disbelievers and transgressors against one of Allah’s greatest Prophets, whom they were instructed to follow. Shaikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

When Allah, The Exalted, sent Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,, they disbelieved in him, thus their disbelief and misguidance occurred in two ways- substitution of the religion of the first Messenger (i.e. the Messiah) and belied the second Messenger (i.e. Muhammad), just as the Jews substituted the rulings of the Torah before the Messiah was sent and then belied him. The Christians’ denial of Muhammad’s Messengership is a well-known belief of theirs to every Muslim, which is similar to the Jews’ disbelief in the Messiah. The Christians emphasise the disbelief of the Jews greater than what the Jews deserve, because the Jews claimed that the Messiah was a magician and a liar; rather they said that he is an illegitimate child, as Allah informed us about them: [وَقَوۡلِهِمۡ عَلَىٰ مَرۡيَمَ بُہۡتَـٰنًا عَظِيمً۬ا – And their speech against Maryam (Mary)- a grave false charge (that she has committed illegal sexual intercourse]. [An-Nisaa. 156]; but the Christians claimed that the Messiah is Allah, therefore the trial between them and the Jews regarding the Messiah involved a lot of contradictions, misguidance at similar levels and confrontation, and this is why both nations rebuked one another with something more than what each of them deserved, just as Allah said:

The Jews said that the Christians follow nothing; and the Christians said that the Jews follow nothing; though they both recite the Scripture. Like unto their word, said (the pagans) who know not. Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection about that wherein they have been differing. [Al-Baqarah. 113]

Muhammad Bin Abee Muhammad the protege of Zaid Bin Thabit reported from Ikrimah or Saeed Bin Jubayr, who reported from Ibn Abbaas that when the Christian delegation of Najraan came to Allaah’s Messenger, the Rabbis came and argued with them in the presence of the Messenger; so Rabee Bin Hurmilah said, “You are upon nothing” and thus he disbelieved in Isa and all the Injeel. Then a man from the people of Najran said to the Jews, “You are upon nothing”, and thus he willfully denied Musa’s, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, Prophethood and disbelieved in the Torah, thus, Allah revealed: [وَقَالَتِ ٱلۡيَهُودُ لَيۡسَتِ ٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ عَلَىٰ شَىۡءٍ۬ وَقَالَتِ ٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ لَيۡسَتِ ٱلۡيَهُودُ عَلَىٰ شَىۡءٍ۬ وَهُمۡ يَتۡلُونَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ‌ۗ -The Jews said that the Christians follow nothing; and the Christians said that the Jews follow nothing; though they both recite the Scripture. [Al-Baqarah. 113]

So each of them recited the affirmation of what they reject in their book- meaning, the Jews disbelieved in Isa whilst they had the Torah in which Allah established the evidence against them through Musa that they should believe in Isa and the Injeel, and Isa confirmed Musa’s Messengership and what he came with. So, each one disbelieved in what was in the possession of the other. [Ibn Abee Hatim. 1/339]

[وَقَالَتِ ٱلۡيَهُودُ لَيۡسَتِ ٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ عَلَىٰ شَىۡءٍ۬ – The Jews said that the Christians follow nothing]: Qatadah said regarding this verse, “Certainly, the early Christians were upon something, but they innovated and split”. [وَقَالَتِ ٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ لَيۡسَتِ ٱلۡيَهُودُ عَلَىٰ شَىۡءٍ۬ – and the Christians said that the Jews follow nothing]: Qatadah said regarding this verse: “Certainly, the early Jews were upon something, but they innovated and split”. The Jews belied the religion of the Christians and said that the Christians were upon nothing; and the Christians denied everything through which the Jews were distinguished from them, even the laws of the Torah which the Messiah did not abrogate; rather he commanded them to act upon it. As for the Jews, they denied many of things through which others were distinguished from them, until they denied the truth brought by Isa.

So, even though the Christians – due to that which they innovated of exaggeration and misguidance – went into extremes in excommunicating the Jews and showed them enmity beyond what is obligated, however there is no doubt that the Jews disbelieved when they belied the Messiah, just as Allah [The Exalted] said to the Messiah [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him]: [إِنِّى مُتَوَفِّيكَ وَرَافِعُكَ إِلَىَّ وَمُطَهِّرُكَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ڪَفَرُواْ وَجَاعِلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوكَ فَوۡقَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ – I will take you and raise you to Myself and clear you [of the forged statement that ‘Isa (Jesus) is Allah’s son] of those who disbelieve, and I will make those who follow you (Monotheists, who worship none but Allah) superior to those who disbelieve [in the Oneness of Allah, or disbelieve in some of His Messengers, e.g. Muhammad, ‘Isa (Jesus), Musa (Moses), etc., or in His Holy Books, e.g. the Tawrat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel), the Qur’an] till the Day of Resurrection. [Aal Imran. 55]

Allah, The Exalted, said:

Isa the son of Maryam said to Al-Hawariun (the disciples): “Who are my helpers (in the Cause) of Allah?” Al-Hawarieen (the disciples) said: “We are Allah’s helpers” (i.e. we will strive in His Cause!). Then a group of the Children of Israel believed and a group disbelieved. So We gave power to those who believed against their enemies, and they became the uppermost. [As-Saff. 14]

The disbelief of the Christians – due to their denial of Muhammad’s Messengership and – is greater than the disbelief of the Jews due to their denial of the Messiah’s Messengership, because indeed the Messiah only abrogated a little from the Torah and all the laws and acts of worship ordained for him could be traced back to the Torah; however the majority of the beliefs and practices of the Christians were innovated after the departure of the Messiah. That which is found in the Jews’ denial of the Messiah by opposing Allah’s Shariah is not the same as the Christians’ denial of Muhammad, who brought an independent book from Allah, because nothing in the laws of the Qur’an was ordained based on the law of another Messenger. Allah [The Exalted] said:

[أَوَلَمۡ يَكۡفِهِمۡ أَنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡڪِتَـٰبَ يُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِمۡ‌ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٲلِكَ لَرَحۡمَةً۬ وَذِڪۡرَىٰ لِقَوۡمٍ۬ يُؤۡمِنُونَ – Is it not sufficient for them that We have sent down to you the Book (the Qur’an) which is recited to them? Verily, herein is mercy and a reminder (or an admonition) for a people who believe]. [Al-Ankabut. 51]

The Qur’an is an independent book like the Torah of Musa, even though the Qur’an is greater than it. And this is why the Christian scholars made a connection between Musa and Muhammad, just as when An-Najaashee [may Allaah have mercy upon him]- the Ethiopian king of the Christians- heard the Qur’an, he said, “Indeed, this and what Musa brought came from the same source”. Also, when Waqarah bin Nawfil, may Allah have mercy upon him, – who was one of Christian Arab scholars- heard the statement of the Prophet, he said, “Indeed, the Naamoos [i.e. Jibreel] who came to you was sent to Musa. I wish that I were young till when your people expel you”. Allaah’s Messenger asked, “Will these people drive me out?” Waraqah said, “Yes, because nobody brought the like of what you have brought, but was treated with hostility. If I were to remain alive till your day (when you start calling to Islam), then I would support you strongly”. [Bukhari]

And this is why Allah mentioned the Torah and the Qur’an together in His statement:

But when the truth (i.e. Muhammad with his Message) has come to them from Us, they say: “Why is he not given the like of what was given to Musa (Moses)? Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Musa (Moses) of old? They say: “Two kinds of magic [the Tawrat (Torah) and the Qur’an] each helping the other!” And they say: “Verily! In both we are disbelievers.” Say (to them, O Muhammad): “Then bring a Book from Allah, which is a better guide than these two [the Taurat (Torah) and the Qur’an], that I may follow it, if you are truthful.” [Al-Qasas. 48-49]

Allah did not revealed books that were a better guide than the Tawraat and the Qur’an. Then Allah said:

But if they answer you not (i.e. do not believe in your doctrine of Islamic Monotheism, nor follow you), then know that they only follow their own lusts. And who is more astray than one who follows his own lusts, without guidance from Allah? Verily! Allah guides not the people who are Zalimun (wrong-doers, disobedient to Allah, and polytheists). [Al-Qasas. 50] [1]

This is the situation regarding the followers of the Scriptures. The Jews do not accept Isa and Muhammad, while the Christians reject Muhammad. In contrast, Muslims acknowledge all Prophets and Messengers and uphold the finality of Prophethood, based on the infallible divine revelation found in the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah. Muslims are instructed to exercise fairness towards both Jews and Christians in matters of contention. Allah [The Exalted] said:

فلذلك فادع واستقم كما أمرت ولا تتبع أهواءهم وقل آمنت بما أنزل الله من كتاب وأمرت لأعدل بينكم الله ربنا وربكم لنا أعمالنا ولكم أعمالكم لا حجة بيننا وبينكم الله يجمع بيننا وإليه المصير

So unto this (religion of Islam, alone and this Qur’an) then invite (people) (O Muhammad ), and Istaqim [(i.e. stand firm and straight on Islamic Monotheism by performing all that is ordained by Allah (good deeds, etc.), and by abstaining from all that is forbidden by Allah (sins and evil deeds, etc.)], as you are commanded, and follow not their desires but say: “I believe in whatsoever Allah has sent down of the Book [all the holy Books, this Qur’an and the Books of the old from the Tawrat (Torah), or the Injeel (Gospel) or the Pages of Ibrahim (Abraham)] and I am commanded to do justice among you, Allah is our Lord and your Lord. For us our deeds and for you your deeds. There is no dispute between us and you. Allah will assemble us (all), and to Him is the final return. [Ash-Shuraa. 15]

[وَأُمِرۡتُ لِأَعۡدِلَ بَيۡنَكُمُ‌ۖ – and I am commanded to do justice among you], Meaning, when passing judgement regarding that which you have differed between yourselves. Therefore, your enmity and hatred does not prevent me from judging with justice between you. And part of justice is that when judging between people who make different statements – amongst the people of the Scripture and others – one accepts what they possess of truth and reject what they possess of falsehood.

[ٱللَّهُ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكُمۡ‌ۖ لَنَآ أَعۡمَـٰلُنَا وَلَكُمۡ أَعۡمَـٰلُڪُمۡ‌ۖ لَا حُجَّةَ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمُ‌ۖ ٱللَّهُ يَجۡمَعُ بَيۡنَنَا‌ۖ وَإِلَيۡهِ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ – Allah is our Lord and your Lord. For us our deeds and for you your deeds. There is no dispute between us and you. Allah will assemble us (all), and to Him is the final return].

[لَا حُجَّةَ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمُ‌ۖ – There is no dispute between us and you] – Meaning, there is no dispute between us and you [i.e. after the realities have been manifested, and after the clear distinction between truth and falsehood, and after the clear distinction between guidance and misguidance, there is no room for debate, because the goal behind debate is to distinguish between right and wrong, so that the one to be guided is guided and the proofs established against the misguided one. [ٱللَّهُ يَجۡمَعُ بَيۡنَنَا‌ۖ وَإِلَيۡهِ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ – Allah will assemble us (all), and to Him is the final return] [2]

In Europe, there was a time when Jews encountered significant hostility from Christians. Historians have explored the reasons for this animosity extensively. While any oppression that occurred should be condemned when substantiated, it’s important to recognise that this conflict arose between two groups whose books were abrogated with the arrival of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. Additionally, the alterations and distortions of their Scriptures are clearly addressed in the final revelation—the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah. For a concise overview of the tensions between Jews and Christians in Europe, as well as the emergence of Christian Zionism, please follow the link. [Footnote c] This animosity slowly evolved into a partnership fueled by Christian Zionism, resulting in the ongoing oppression and suffering of Palestinians. [Footnote d]

The assertion made by the Jerusalem Post about “antisemitism since biblical times” reflects a broader trend where ambiguity is either inherent in the statement itself or arises from the writer’s emotional bias, which hinders a fair exploration of the subject. The author may deliberately obscure the boundary between truth and falsehood to sidestep or stifle important conversations regarding the nuanced difference between antisemitism and valid critiques of Zionism, including its leaders, ideologues, and provocateurs. Some of them often either rationalise the violence inflicted upon Palestinians or divert focus away from, or offer weak justifications for the actions of the oppressive Zionist forces in Palestine. Likewise, we unequivocally denounce any acts of violence against synagogues, Jewish communities, and educational institutions. The violent actions of Zionists in Palestine can never serve as a justification for vigilantism or vandalism against Jews elsewhere, just as the brutality of Kharijites cannot excuse violence against Muslims in non-Muslim nations. While the genocidal army of Netanyahu stands out for its brutality and heartlessness, we also condemn the actions of Hamas and other factions targeting unarmed civilians and non-combatants. Our biblical forefathers- a brief reminder to Kenneth Brander

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah, The Exalted, said:

O mankind, We have created you from a male (Ādam) and female (Eve) (making you all of equal lineage) and We made you into nations and tribes that you may know one another (and fulfil each other’s rights). Verily, the most honourable of you with Allāh is the most pious of you (and not the noblest in lineage or most affluent) (so do not be boastful and belittle others). Indeed, Allāh is all-Knowing, all-Aware. [1]

The Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: Indeed, Allah [The Most High] has removed from you the pride of the pre-Islamic period and its boasting about ancestors. One is only a pious believer or a wretched sinner. You are sons of Adam and Adam (was created from) dust. Let the people abandon boasting about their ancestors, for they are merely fuel in Jahannam; or they will become more insignificant in (the sight of) Allah than the beetle which rolls dung with its nose. [2]

The Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, “Whoever is held back by his deeds, his (nobility) of lineage will not push him forward”. Imam An-Nawawi, may Allah have mercy upon him, said, “Its meaning is that the one whose deeds are deficient and he does not catch up with the performers of (good) deeds, it is obligated to him not to crown himself with nobility of lineage and the virtues of his forefathers, whilst he is lagging behind in (performing good) deeds”. [3]

This article aims to provide the views of a researcher on the origins of the Children of Israel. As previously noted in the sacred texts of the Shariah quoted above, Allah has created humanity with diverse lineages, and no one lineage holds superiority over another, save for those who faithfully follow the teachings of Allah’s Prophets and Messengers, with Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, being the final one. Consequently, no race can assert virtue over another; rather, true virtue is found in one’s commitment to divine guidance. Our objective is not to diminish anyone based on their racial background, as such actions reflect the ignorance prevalent before the advent of Islam, whether aimed at Muslims or non-Muslims alike. We stand firmly against all forms of racism, including anti-Semitism, recognising that racism is not only a profound moral failing but also a transgression in the eyes of the Creator, who, in His infinite wisdom and justice, has created us with diversity.[Refer to Footnote a] This article is dedicated to research that illustrates how, just as Muslims encompass a variety of races while sharing a common faith, so too do Jews represent a spectrum of ethnicities. However, some among the Jewish community, by virtue of their association with Bani Israel, have made claims that may not be justified. The author of the research we will reference articulates the following:

Some propagate the idea that they are the descendants of the first Israelites who lived in Palestine, and claim that they are the inheritors of those first Israelites who were in Palestine. They strive to disseminate the claim of the purity of this race that it is not mixed with other nations- a race that has maintained, in their claim, its purity. This claim portrays them, in the eyes of Christians, as the children of Yaqub, peace be upon him, and his descendants, thus they are the ones intended for the promises found in the Old Testament to the children of Israel. So, through this, they win the sympathy, kindness, and support of many Christians, especially with knowledge of the fact that the Christians sanctify the Torah and believe that what is in it is a revelation from Allah, The Mighty and Majestic. However, the reality opposess their claim of the purity of their race, and that is because a general observation of their appearance and features shows the difference in their origins. Some of them have European features, some have Arab features, and some have African features. With this difference, it cannot be claimed that their origin is the same, as they must have mixed with other nations from whom they inherited this difference in physical characteristics.

Furthermore, the Jews mentioned in their books that many of them married foreign women and that their women folk were also taken by foreign men, to the point that they attributed this to Prophet Sulayman – peace be upon him – (i.e. that he married women outside his race). It has also been proven historically that a big nation, the people of the Khazar state, converted to Judaism in the eighth century CE. This nation had previously been pagans, a Turkic Aryan people who inhabited the Central Asian region, and their state, named after themselves as the Khazar state, was located in the region between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. It occupies the northern Azerbaijani, Armenian, and Ukrainian regions and the entire South Asian region, up to the borders of Moscow, the capital of Russia. The Caspian Sea was called the Khazar Sea. It is stated in the Jewish Encyclopedia about the Khazars as follows: “The Khazars are a people of Turkish origin, whose life and history are mixed with the beginning of the history of the Jews of Russia. The nomadic tribes of the steppes, on the other hand, forced them to consolidate the foundations of the Khazar kingdom in most parts of southern Russia before the Franks established the Russian monarchy in 855 CE. At this time (855 CE), the Khazar Kingdom was at the height of its power, engaged in constant wars, and at the end of the eighth century, the Khazar king, his nobles, and a large number of his pagan people converted to the Judaism. The Jewish population was large throughout the Khazar province during the period between the 7th and 10th centuries CE, (and) it appears that around the 9th century, all the Khazars had become Jews and that they had converted to Judaism only a short time earlier. Then this country subsequently fell into the hands of the Russians, who occupied it and completely destroyed it, and seized all of its lands. It disappeared from the map of Europe in the thirteenth century CE, and its people were dispersed among the countries of Eastern and Western Europe, and their largest existence in Eastern Europe were Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Russia”. This clearly shows that the Jews who are called Ashkenazi, who are European, have no connection to Prophet Yaqub by lineage. [4] [End of quote]

Nevertheless, it cannot be asserted that there is not a single Jewish individual in the world who is not connected to Yaqub, peace be upon him, by ancestry. If such a connection is proven by any of them, it should not be refuted.

As for the usage of the word “Israel” concerning the state, it differs from their usage of it when talking about the Sacred Land. They make it obligatory for every Jew to live in the “Chosen Land” because whoever lives in it will have their sins expiated and receive a reward. This is why they said in the Talmud, “Every Jew must live in the Land of Israel, and this obligation is above every other obligation. The Land of Israel is pure and the pious among the Children of Israel must be buried there, and if that is not possible, some of the soil from it should be placed with the shroud. He who walks four cubits on the Land of Israel will not doubt that he is one of the children of the afterlife”. It was written in some of their books, “The people residing therein will be removed from sin”.

Antisemitism in the US has risen by 900% – a brief reminder to Jonathan Greenblatt

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Abu Dharr, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: Allah, Almighty, said: “O My servants! I have forbidden injustice for Myself and I have forbidden it among you, so do not oppress one another”. [Ṣaḥiḥ Muslim 2577]

Antisemitic incidents in the US have skyrocketed up by 900% over the past decade, Jonathan Greenblatt, head of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), told Michael Starr on The Jerusalem Post Podcast. Greenblatt explained that while there was no doubt a rise in antisemitism since October 7, 2023, it had already been steadily climbing over the years. [end of quote]

Reminder to Jonathan and others: Over the past 70 years, Zionist brutality in Palestine has surged dramatically. While the increase since October 7, 2023, is undeniable, this troubling trend has been on a steady upward trajectory long before that date.

What I can tell you is that antisemitism, both measured in terms of attitudes and incidents, has surged dramatically, not just since post-10/7, but really over the last decade or so. [end of quote]

Reminder to Jonathan and others: Zionist brutality, reflected in both attitudes and incidents, has seen a significant increase, not only since the events of 10/7 but also over the last seventy years.

We started to see a spike in 2016, which had continued, relatively speaking, unabated. In 2019, we had a record high that was followed by a new record in 2021, and then a new record in 2022, and then we blew through the number in 2023, of course, after 10/7. So just in terms of incidents, we’ve literally seen a 900% increase over the past decade. [end of quote]

Reminder to Jonathan and others: Since 1948, we’ve witnessed a significant rise that has persisted without interruption. This trend has been maintained by successive Zionist administrations right up to today, culminating in a dramatic escalation in 2024, particularly following the events of October 7th. In terms of incidents, there has been an astonishing increase of brutality attributed to Zionist forces in the last seven decades.

Incidents, as defined by the ADL, include harassment, vandalism, and violence directed at Jews or Jewish institutions due to their identity. Harassment, however, is not necessarily a crime, and can constitute things such as workplace discrimination, which would be the subject of a civil suit but not criminal charges. [end of quote]

Reminder to Jonathan and others: Incidents, as characterised by numerous organisations, encompass acts such as starvation, illegal settlements, bombings, and unlawful detentions targeting Palestinians based on their identity. Their experiences extend far beyond mere harassment.

Greenblatt noted that the ADL releases annual surveys to help gauge the prevalence of antisemitism in the US. What these have shown is that antisemitism has fallen, only to rise back up again in recent years. [end of quote]

Reminder to Jonathan and others: The evidence of Zionist brutality is so clear that no surveys are necessary to assess its widespread occurrence in Palestine and the West Bank. Daily observations reveal that this brutality has remained constant and unyielding over the years.

When we first did this kind of research in the 1960s, we found that nearly 30% of the US population has elevated, or call it intense, antisemitic attitudes. [end of quote]

However, this would change.

Over the years, that number went down, down, down, down, and stayed quite low between, say, 8-12% for decades,” Greenblatt continued. “When we ran this survey in 2019, it was, I think, 11%. [end of quote]

Reminder to Jonathan and others: In our teenage years during the early 90s, we first became aware of the harsh realities of Zionist violence. It was shocking to learn that Palestinians had been enduring this oppression long before some of our elders were even born, and that the situation has only escalated over the years under the guise of retaliation and self-defense. Only Allah knows if this brutality will lessen or grow stronger. The ongoing violence and land appropriation by Zionists doesn’t require extensive analysis to see the downward trend; the core issue is that the actions of Zionism speak far louder than any rhetoric, particularly in recent times. It is very important to recognise that both antisemitism and Zionism are deeply troubling and deserve condemnation from anyone who values decency. However, the actions of Netanyahu’s Zionist forces stand out as particularly oppressive and ruthless, showing a level of brutality that is hard to overlook.

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

By Allah! The Ummah will not be removed from its problems, humiliation and the degradation they are living in except through returning to the Book of Allah, the Sunnah of the Messenger and the understanding of the pious predecessors, (when dealing) with the Khawaarij and other than them. Al-Aajuriy said: “The scholars—past and present—do not differ that the khawarij are an evil people, disobedient to Allah and His Messenger, even if they pray, fast and strive in acts of worship”.

Antisemitic crime up by 94 percent – Brief dialogue with Michael Starr at Jerusalem Post

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah, The Exalted, said:

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah; even though it be against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, be he rich or poor, Allah is a Better Protector to both (than you). So follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you may avoid justice, and if you distort your witness or refuse to give it, verily, Allah is Ever Well-Acquainted with what you do. [An-Nisaa. 135]

This brief article does not seek to undermine the existence of any race within the tapestry of humanity, nor does it advocate for the oppression of any individual. Its intention is to remind Michael Starr that true justice in discourse cannot be achieved unless we all unequivocally denounces all forms of malevolence, including the genocide being committed by the brutal Zionist forces in Gaza and the murder of unarmed civilians and non-combatants at the hands of Hamas on October 7th.

Just as anti-Semitism and its abhorrent consequences—murder, harassment, and other criminal acts—are utterly unacceptable and condemned, so too is genocide, particularly in light of the fact that the Palestinian people have faced severe oppression for over seventy years prior to the current crisis. Firstly, it is essential to clarify that we do not suggest that Michael endorses the actions of the Zionists, particularly those of Netanyahu, as we have not encountered any statements to that effect. However, it is only just that when we address the issue of anti-Semitism, which we all unequivocally denounce, we must also acknowledge the far more egregious actions perpetrated by Zionists against Palestinians over the past 70 years. Such actions warrant stronger condemnation. Furthermore, if Michael’s assertion holds true—that anti-Semitic crimes surged by 94 percent in Florida and 70 percent in Massachusetts in 2023 compared to the previous year—this alarming trend demands immediate attention, and it is imperative that those responsible are held accountable. [Footnote a]

However, the suffering endured by those targeted by anti-Semitism at present is greatly overshadowed when compared to the deep and enduring hardships faced by the Palestinian people over the last seventy years. While individuals experiencing anti-Semitic acts in places like Florida and Massachusetts would receive support and assistance from their governments upon reporting these offenses, the Palestinians face an extremely violent, brutal and callous enemy that is armed by other nations. They have witnessed the usurpation of their lands, endured atrocities for decades, and seen their women and children imprisoned. Regrettably, there remains a troubling lack of advocates willing to step in and put an end to the violence—no law enforcement to safeguard their rights or to protect them from the egregious actions of those who misleadingly identify themselves as settlers. [Footnote b] Therefore, it is imperative that when anti-Semitism is addressed and denounced—an act that certainly warrants robust condemnation—equally fervent denunciation and decisive action must be directed towards halting the genocide in Gaza. For an extended period, Zionist political backing has systematically eroded the safety, dignity, property, livelihoods, and lives of the Palestinian people. [Footnote c] Few are more deserving of censure than Netanyahu and his associates, whose rhetoric echoes with the specter of genocide, a grim reality that unfolds daily in Palestine. [Footnote d]

May Allah bestow upon the Palestinians the solace they so desperately need, alleviating the oppression and cruelty that has burdened them for more than seventy years. We ask Allah:

Our Lord! Make us not a trial for the folk who are wrongdoers. And save us by Your Mercy from the disbelieving folk.

Aameen.

Reflections from some statements of Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Mad’khali [43 of 80]

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

We do not say that there are people of Ijtihad amongst the proponents of innovation in religious matters because they are followers of (vain) desires, and Allah and His Messenger have testified to this. The misguided innovator in religious matters stirs up discord and errs, and then says to you, “This is Ijtihad”. When Hikmatiyar and the misguided parties (in Afghanistan) murdered Shaikh Jameel Ur-Rahman, they said: “This is Ijtihad”. They do not fall into an affair of misguidance or a calamity except that they say, “This is Ijtihad”. This is (tantamount) to diluting Islam, falsehood, misguidance, bidah and confounding truth with falsehood when the mistakes of the (true and qualified scholars of Ijtihad)- for which they are rewarded- are placed at the same level with innovation in religious matters about which the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, declared to be destined for the hell fire”.

Reflections from some statements of Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Mad’khali [42 of 80]

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

By Allah! The Salafi Dawah did not spread in recent times, as well as in the past, except at the hands of people who are scholars, wise and forbearing people who embody the methodology of the Messenger – peace and blessings of Allah be upon him – and strive to implement it to the best of their abilities; thus, Allah benefitted (others) through them, and the Salafi Dawah spread to various parts of the world through their manners, knowledge and wisdom. And in recent times, we observe a decline and contraction of the Salafi Dawah, which can be attributed to the loss of the wisdom exemplified by these individuals, and first and foremost (a loss) of the Messenger’s wisdom, his compassion, manners, gentleness, and (upright) leniency – peace be upon him.

Al-Hath-thu Alaa Al-Mawaddah Wal I’tilaaf Wat-Tahdheer Minal Furqati Wal Ikhtilaaf page 24

Judy asked a question

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said,

“I have been sent to perfect good character”. [1]

“Do you believe that the importance in your country of Islam complicates your ability to do something, to take a stronger stand against violence against women”. [Footnote a]

This is one of the questions posed by Aunty Judy Woodruff to a former Prime Minister of a Muslim country, bringing attention to a crucial issue. It raises the possibility that this inquiry stemmed from a journalistic duty to address misunderstandings or perhaps a genuine lack of awareness about the profound teachings of Islam that advocate for the respectful treatment of women, as highlighted in the sacred texts.

The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said, “Women are the twin halves (or counterparts of) men”. [2]

Meaning, they are twin halves of men as created beings, as if they are the other halves from men because Hawwaa, may peace be upon her, was created from Adam, peace be upon him.. [3]

Imam Muhammad Bin Salih Al-Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy upon him, said, “Women are the twin halves of men, meaning they are the other half from them because a woman is the daughter of her father and a part from him, just as the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, ‘Fatimah is from me’. The narration has another meaning – that ‘Twin halves (or counterpart) of men’ means that they are same as men in what Allah has obligated to men with regards those affairs that have not been specified for men or women. [4]

Al-Miqdam Ibn Ma’dee, may Allah be pleased with him, said: Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “Verily, Allah commands you to be good to women. Verily, Allah commands you to be good to women because they are your mothers, sisters your aunts”. [5]

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported: I invited my mother, who was a polytheist, to Islam. I invited her one day and she said to me something about Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, which I hated. I came to Allah’s Messenger weeping and said: “Allah’ Messenger, I invited my mother to Islam but she did not accept (my invitation). I invited her today but she said to me something which I did not like. (Kindly) supplicate Allah that He may set the mother of Abu Huraira right. Thereupon Allah’s Messenger said: “O Allah, set the mother of Abu Huraira on the right path”. I came out quite pleased with the supplication of Allah’s Prophet and when I came near the door it was closed from within. My mother, may Allah be pleased with her, heard the noise of my footsteps and she said: “Abu Huraira, just wait”, and I heard the noise of falling of water. She took a bath and put on the shirt and quickly covered her head with a headdress and opened the door and then said: “Abu Huraira, I bear witness to the fact that there is none worthy of worship (in truth) but Allah and Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger”. He (Abu Huraira) said: I went back to Allah’s Messenger and (this time) I was shedding the tears of joy. I said: Allah’s Messenger, be happy, for Allah has responded to your supplication and He has set on the right path the mother of Abu Huraira. He (the Prophet) praised Allah, and extolled Him and uttered good words. I said: Allah’s Messenger, supplicate to Allah so that He may instill love of mine and that of my mother too in the believing servants and let our hearts be filled with their love, whereupon Allah’s Messenger said: O Allah, let there be love of these servants of yours, i. e. Abu Huraira and his mother, in the hearts of the believing servants and let their hearts be filled with the love of the believing servants. (Abu Huraira said: This prayer) was so well granted by Allah that no believer was ever born who heard of me and who saw me but did not love me. [Sahih Muslim 2491]

Abu Umamah, may Allah be pleased with him, said: A young man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said, “O Allah’s Messenger! Allow me to commit illegal sexual intercourse”. The people turned to him to rebuke him and told him keep quiet. The Prophet moved closer to him and he sat down. The Prophet said, “Would you like that for your mother?” He said, “By Allah! No. may Allah make me your ransom”. He said, “The people do not like it for their mothers either”. Then he said, “Would you like it for your daughter?” He said, “By Allah! No. May Allah make me your ransom”. He said, “The people do not like it for their daughters either”. He said, “Would you like it for your sister?” He said, “By Allah! No. May Allah make me your ransom”. He said, “The people do not like it for their sisters either”. He said, “Would you like it for your paternal aunt?” He said, “By Allah! No. May Allah make me your ransom”. He said: “The people do not like it for their paternal aunts either”. He said, “Would you like it for your maternal aunt?” He said, “By Allah! No. May Allah make me your ransom”. He said, “The people do not like it for their maternal aunts either”. Then he placed his hand on him and said, “O Allah! Forgive his sins and cleanse his heart, and protect his chastity”. And after that the young man never thought of any such thing again. [6]

It’s important to clarify that the injustices faced by women at the hands of men are not rooted in Islam itself. Instead, they stem from cultural practices. A true Muslim should not follow any cultural traditions that contradict the teachings of Islam. A Muslim is not allowed to adhere to any cultural norms that oppose Islam. Examining the statistics on domestic violence, rape, and sexual harassment across various societies, including the USA, may reveal numerous underlying factors contributing to these issues. However, it is clear that a significant reason lies in the absence of fear of Allah and the inclination towards un-Islamic customs. It’s essential for anyone looking to make a judgement or grasp issues in a Muslim country to first understand what Islam teaches about the topic, supported by unambiguous evidence, rather than relying solely on the local customs and behaviours. Failing to make this distinction can lead to a mix-up between Islam and cultural practices. Scholars have strongly highlighted the importance of differentiating between un-Islamic cultural habits and the principles that Islam outlines for our interactions.

Imam Ash-Shatibi, may Allah have mercy upon him, stated in Al-Muwaafaqaat that customs are many different types- some are good and others are corrupt. The good customs are those that neither oppose the Shariah texts nor lead to losing an affair deem to be beneficial by the Shariah, nor lead to an affair which the Shariah deems to be corrupt. As for the corrupt customs, they are those that oppose the evidences in the Shariah or some of the principles of the Shariah, such as some of the customary dealings in usury and those deeds deemed to be evil by the Shariah which the people engage in during occasions of happiness (or rejoicing etc). [7]

Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

Hardship is only encountered by the one who abandons the Maloofaat and Awaa’id [i.e. those habitual things, deeds, practices, customs etc] for other than the sake of Allah. As for the one who abandons them truthfully and sincerely from the bottom of his heart- for the sake of Allah alone- then indeed he does not encounter any difficulty due to abandoning them except in the beginning, in order that he is tested as to whether he is truthful or untruthful in abandoning them? If he exercises a little bit of patience, its [i.e. that abandonment] will alternate into pleasure. Ibn Seereen said that he heard Shurayh swearing by Allah that “A servant does not abandon anything for the sake of Allah and finds a loss in that.” And their statement [i.e. the people of knowledge] that ‘whoever abandons something for the Sake of Allah, Allah will replace it with what is better.” This is true. This compensation is of different types and the best of that which a person is compensated with is: the desire and yearning to get close to Allah, seeking after Allah’s pleasure, love of Allah, and the heart granted-by way of it- tranquility, strength, enthusiasm, happiness and being pleased with its Lord [The Most High]. [8]

Imam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

It is obligated to every Muslim that he does not depend on custom; rather he presents it to the pure Islamic legislation (to be judged), thus, whatever the Islamic legislation affirms is permissible and whatever it does not affirm is impermissible. The customs of the people are not proof to determine the lawfulness of anything. All the customs of the people in their countries or tribes must be presented to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] for judgement, so whatever Allah and His Messenger made permissible is permissible, and whatever they forbid, then it is obligatory to abandon it even if it is the custom of the people. [9]

Imam Muhammad Bin Salih Al-Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

The customs cannot make something that is not legislated (in the divine revelation) as something legislated, because of Allah’s statement: [وَلَيۡسَ ٱلۡبِرُّ بِأَن تَأۡتُواْ ٱلۡبُيُوتَ مِن ظُهُورِهَا – It is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, etc.) that you enter the houses from the back] [Surah Al-Baqarah. Aayah 189], despite the fact that it was something they took as their custom and considered it to be an act of righteousness. Whoever takes something as a custom and believes that it is an act of righteousness, then it should be presented to Allah’s divine legislation. [10]

Imam Muhammad Bin Salih Al-Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy upon him, also said:

Extremism related to customs is stringent adherence to old customs and not diverting to what is better than them. As for if the customs are equal in benefit [i.e. the ones judged to be permissible by the divine legislation], a person remaining upon what he is upon would be better than going along with the new (or emerging) customs.
