Deviation from Upright Conduct and Deviation Related to Knowledge and Creed: Requires Prolonged, Constant, and Attentive Reflection

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Al-Ghay: [to deviate from upright conduct] and Ad-Dalal: [misguidance related to knowledge and creed] combine all evils

Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khali [may Allaah protect him] stated:

All Praise be to Allaah, Lord of the entire existence, and prayers and peace be upon the most honorable of the prophets and messengers, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and companions. To proceed:

Presented to all Muslims is this [الكلام الرائع – wonderful, remarkable, speech] of Shaikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy upon him, in which he spoke about the danger of Hasad (envy), and the danger of Ghay and Dalal, and that they combine all evils. Therefore, it is incumbent upon all to [مراقبة الله – i.e. to recall the fact that Allah sees us, knows everything about us at all times, knows everything in our souls etc], strive to correct our beliefs and purify our hearts from envy, arrogance, transgression and all kinds of sins, especially major sins. Here is the speech of this Imam, who, may Allah have mercy upon him, stated in his treatise (titled) at-Tawbah (repentance) pages 236-238:

Indeed, Allah commanded His believing servants to supplicate to Him in every prayer with His statement:

ٱهۡدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٲطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ
صِرَٲطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ غَيۡرِ ٱلۡمَغۡضُوبِ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ

Guide us to the straight path (of beneficial knowledge coupled with righteous action); the path of those (Prophets and their truthful, righteous followers) upon whom You have bestowed favour, not of those who earn Your anger (by not acting upon what they know) and nor of the astray (who act without knowledge). [Al-Faatihah. 6-7] [Noblequran-Shaikh Abu Iyaad]

And for this reason, Allah freed His Prophet from these two (i.e. Ghay and Dalal), saying:

وَٱلنَّجۡمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ
مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمۡ وَمَا غَوَىٰ
وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰٓ
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحۡىٌ۬ يُوحَىٰ

By the (phenomenon) of the star when it descends (and vanishes with the appearance of dawn). Your companion-(O Pagans of Quraysh)—has not erred (in the knowledge he has been given) nor has he erred (in his sincerity of purpose). Nor does he speak out of the desire (of his own soul) (and forge revelation thereby). It is nothing but revelation revealed to him (containing guidance, rectitude and piety which he follows). [Surah An-Najm. Aayaat 1-4] [NobleQuran -Shaikh Abu Iyaad]

The misguided one]:

He is the one that does not know the truth, but rather thinks that he is upon the truth while he is ignorant of it, as is the case regarding what the Christians are upon. Allaah [The Exalted] said:

وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا أَهْوَاءَ قَوْمٍ قَدْ ضَلُّوا مِنْ قَبْلُ وَأَضَلُّوا كَثِيرًا وَضَلُّوا عَنْ سَوَاءِ السَّبِيلِ

And do not follow the inclinations of a people who had gone astray before and misled many and have strayed from the soundness of the way. [Al-Ma’idah. 77]

And [الغاوي – the one who deviates from upright conduct] follows his whims and desires even though he knows that this is contrary to the truth, as is the case regarding what the Yahud are upon. Allah, The Most High, said:

I shall turn away from My Ayat (verses of the Quran) those who behave arrogantly on the earth, without a right, and (even) if they see all the Signs, they will not believe in them. And if they see the way of righteousness (monotheism, piety, and good deeds), they will not adopt it as the Way, but if they see the way of error (polytheism, crimes and evil deeds), they will adopt that way, that is because they have rejected Our Signs and were heedless (to learn a lesson) from them. [Al-A’raf. 146]

Allah, The Most High, said:

And recite (O Muhammad) to them the story of him to whom We gave Our Signs, but he threw them away, so Shaitan (Satan) followed him up, and he became of those who went astray. nd had We willed, We would surely have elevated him therewith but he clung to the earth and followed his own vain desire. So his description is the description of a dog: if you drive him away, he lolls his tongue out, or if you leave him alone, he (still) lolls his tongue out. [Al-A’raf. 175-176]

And in a hadith, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

“Indeed, what I fear most for you is the desires of the stomachs and privates parts that deviates a person from upright conduct, and the misleading trials”.

That is because indeed Ghay and Dalal combine all the evils of the children of Adam, because the human being is as Allah stated:

وَحَمَلَهَا الْإِنْسَانُ إِنَّهُ كَانَ ظَلُومًا جَهُولً

But man bore it. Verily, he was unjust (to himself) and ignorant (of its results)] [Al-Ahzab. 72]

So, through his wrongdoing, he becomes one who deviates from upright conduct, and through his ignorance, he becomes a misguided one. And often he combines both these two, this, he is misguided in one thing, and deviated from upright conduct in another thing, because he is unjust and ignorant, and each of the two sins succeed one another, as Allah said:

فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ فَزَادَهُمُ اللَّهُ مَرَضًا

In their hearts is a disease (of doubt, disbelief and hypocrisy), so Allāh increased their disease (by subjecting them to trials in which they preferred disbelief)]. [Al-Baqarah. 10] [NobleQuran-Shaikh Abu Iyaad]

And as Allah said:

فَلَمَّا زَاغُوا أَزَاغَ اللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُمْ

So when they turned away (from the Path of Allah), Allah turned their hearts away (from the Right Path)]. [As-Saff. 5]

Just as a believer is rewarded for a good deed with another good deed; if he acts according to his knowledge, Allah grants him knowledge he did not know; and if does a good deed, it invites him to another good deed. Allah, The Most High, said:

وَالَّذِينَ اهْتَدَوْا زَادَهُمْ هُدًى وَآتَاهُمْ تَقْوَاهُمْ

While as for those who accept guidance, He increases their guidance, and bestows on them their piety.[Muhammad 17]

Allah, The Most High, said:

وَيَزِيدُ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ اهْتَدَوْا هُدًى

And Allah increases in guidance those who walk aright [true believers in the Oneness of Allah who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden), and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained). [Maryam. 76]

Allah, The Most High, said:

وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا

As for those who strive hard in Us (Our Cause), We will surely guide them to Our Paths (i.e. Allah’s Religion – Islamic Monotheism). [Al-Ankabut. 69]

Allah, The Most High, said:

وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ فَعَلُوا مَا يُوعَظُونَ بِهِ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَهُمْ وَأَشَدَّ تَثْبِيتًا
وَإِذًا لَآتَيْنَاهُمْ مِنْ لَدُنَّا أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا
وَلَهَدَيْنَاهُمْ صِرَاطًا مُسْتَقِيمًا

And if We had ordered them (saying), “Kill yourselves (i.e. the innocent ones kill the guilty ones) or leave your homes,” very few of them would have done it; but if they had done what they were told, it would have been better for them, and would have strengthened their (Faith); ad indeed We should then have bestowed upon them a great reward from Ourselves. And indeed We should have guided them to a Straight Way. [An-Nisaa. 66-68]

Allah, The Most High, said:

O you who believe [in Musa (Moses) (i.e. Jews) and ‘Iesa (Jesus) (i.e. Christians)]! Fear Allah, and believe too in His Messenger (Muhammad ), He will give you a double portion of His Mercy, and He will give you a light by which you shall walk (straight), and He will forgive you. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. So that the people of the Scripture may know that they have no power whatsoever over the Grace of Allah, and that (His) Grace is (entirely) in His Hand to bestow it on whomsoever He wills. And Allah is the Owner of Great Bounty. [Al-Hadid. 28-29]

And he [i.e. the Prophet (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)] mentioned the desires of the stomachs and private parts that deviates a person from upright conduct as reported in the Sahih:

“Whoever can guarantee (the chastity of) what is between his two jaw-bones and what is between his two legs (i.e. his tongue and his private parts), I guarantee Paradise for him.” [Al-Bukhari 6474]

The common people know that this is a sin, but they commit it in pursuit of their desires. As for the misleading trials, if a servant of Allah is tempted, he will stray from the path ordained by Allah, while thinking that he is guided, as Allah stated:

وَمَنْ يَعْشُ عَنْ ذِكْرِ الرَّحْمَنِ نُقَيِّضْ لَهُ شَيْطَانًا فَهُوَ لَهُ قَرِينٌ
وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْ عَنِ السَّبِيلِ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمْ مُهْتَدُونَ

And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Qur’an and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan – devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him. And verily, they (Satans / devils) hinder them from the Path (of Allah), but they think that they are guided aright! [Az-Zukhruf. 36-37]

Allah said:

Is he, then, to whom the evil of his deeds made fair-seeming, so that he considers it as good (equal to one who is rightly guided)? Verily, Allah sends astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. [Fatir. 8]

Allah said:

Thus it was made fair-seeming, in Fir’aun’s (Pharaoh) eyes, the evil of his deeds, and he was hindered from the (Right) Path, and the plot of Fir’aun (Pharaoh) led to nothing but loss and destruction (for him). [Ghafir. 37]

Allah said:

Say (O Muhammad): “Shall We tell you the greatest losers in respect of (their) deeds? Those whose efforts have been wasted in this life while they thought that they were acquiring good by their deeds! [Al-Kahf. 103-104]

And due to this, the companions of the Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, interpreted this verse (and applied it) to those devoted in worship based on other than Allah’s Shariah with which He sent His Messenger, such as the idolaters, the people of the Scripture like the monks and the people of desires from this Ummah (of Muhammad), such as the Kharijites whom the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, commanded that they should be fought against, saying:

“One of you will belittle his prayer compared to their prayer, his fast compared to their fast, and his recitation compared with their recitation. They will recite the Qur’an but it does not go beyond their throats, they pass through Islam as an arrow goes through the game’s body. Kill them wherever you meet them (i.e. when they initiate bloodshed), for indeed in killing them there is a reward from Allaah – on the Day of Resurrection – for those who killed them”. [Footnote a]

This is because these people exited the Sunnah of Allah’s Messenger and the Jamaa’ah of Muslims to the point that those who opposed them – such as Uthmaan, Ali and the rest of the believers who ruled over them – were declared disbelievers, and they declared it lawful to kill Muslims and confiscate their wealth, as the Prophet said about them:

“They will kill the adherents to Allah and leave the idol worshippers”. [Must read about Jihad in Footnote b]

And if the desires that deviates a person from upright conduct combines with misleading trials, the affliction becomes severe and the one upon this path becomes one who earns Allah’s Anger – an astray person. This often occurs because of the love of leadership and self-exaltation in earth, as was the case of Pharaoh. Allah, The Most High. said:

إِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ عَلَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَجَعَلَ أَهْلَهَا شِيَعًا يَسْتَضْعِفُ طَائِفَةً مِنْهُمْ يُذَبِّحُ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيِي نِسَاءَهُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ

Verily, Fir’aun (Pharaoh) exalted himself in the land and made its people sects, weakening (oppressing) a group (i.e. Children of Israel) among them, killing their sons, and letting their females live. Verily, he was of the Mufsidun (i.e. those who commit great sins and crimes, oppressors, tyrants, etc.). [Al-Qasas. 4]

So, Allah described him as one who exalted himself in the earth and caused corruption. Allah stated in the end of Surah:

تِلْكَ الدَّارُ الْآخِرَةُ نَجْعَلُهَا لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُرِيدُونَ عُلُوًّا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فَسَادًا وَالْعَاقِبَةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ

That home of the Hereafter (i.e. Paradise), We shall assign to those who rebel not against the truth with pride and oppression in the land nor do mischief by committing crimes. And the good end is for the Muttaqun (pious). [Al-Qasas. 83]

This is why Allah stated about Fir’awn’s affair in particular:

وَكَذَلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِفِرْعَوْنَ سُوءُ عَمَلِهِ

Thus it was made fair-seeming, in Fir’aun’s (Pharaoh) eyes, the evil of his deeds. [Ghafir. 37]

And that is because love of the leadership is a hidden lust, as Shaddad Bin Aws, may Allah be pleased with him, said:

“O Arabs! What I fear for you the most is Riyaa and hidden lust”. It was said to Abu Dawud As-Sijistani: “What is hidden lust?” He said, “Love of the leadership”.

Your love for a thing blinds and deafens (i.e. one neither sees the truth nor listens to truth), thus, the love for that will beautify for him what he loves of self-exaltation and hatred against its opposite, until haughtiness and pride are combined in the affair, and envy, which is to harbour hatred against Allah’s blessing bestowed on His servants, especially those who oppose Him. Pride and envy are two diseases that destroyed the early and latter generations, and they are the greatest sins through which Allah was first disobeyed, because Iblees became arrogant towards Adam and envied him. Similarly, the son of Adam, who killed his brother, envied his brother, and that is why arrogance contradicts Islam just as polytheism contradict Islam, because Islam is submission to Allah alone. Whoever submits to Allah, and to others (in worship) is a polytheist, and whoever does not submit is an arrogant person, like the case of Pharaoh and the chiefs of his (kingdom). This is why Musa said:

وَأَنْ لَا تَعْلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ إِنِّي آتِيكُمْ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍ

And exalt not (yourselves) against Allah. Truly, I have come to you with a manifest authority. [Ad-Dukhan. 19]

Allah stated about Fir’awn:

وَاسْتَكْبَرَ هُوَ وَجُنُودُهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا يُرْجَعُونَ

And he and his hosts were arrogant in the land, without right, and they thought that they would never return to Us.(Surah Al-Qasas. Aayah 39)]

Allah said:

And they belied them (those Ayat) wrongfully and arrogantly, though their ownselves were convinced thereof [i.e. those (Ayat) are from Allah, and Musa (Moses) is the Messenger of Allah in truth, but they disliked to obey Musa (Moses), and hated to believe in his Message of Monotheism]. So see what was the end of the Mufsidun (disbelievers, disobedient to Allah, evil-doers, liars.). [An-Naml. 14]

And whoever submits himself to Allah as a Hanif (i.e. one who worships Allaah alone), he is a Muslim who is adhering to the religion of Abrahim, about whom Allah said to him, “Submit”, he said, “I have submitted to the Lord of the worlds”. And this Islam is the religion of the first and the last of the prophets and their followers, as Allah described – in his book – Nuh, Ibrahim, Musa, Yusuf, Sulayman and others amongst the Prophets, such as the statement of Musa to his people:

إِنْ كُنْتُمْ آمَنْتُمْ بِاللَّهِ فَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلُوا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُسْلِمِينَ

If you have believed in Allah, then put your trust in Him if you are Muslims (those who submit to Allah’s Will). [Yunus. 84]

Allah said:

Verily, We did send down the Taurat (Torah) [to Musa (Moses)], therein was guidance and light, by which the Prophets, who submitted themselves to Allah’s Will, judged the Jews. [Al-Ma’idah. 44]

Nuh said:

But if you turn away [from accepting my doctrine of Islamic Monotheism, i.e. to worship none but Allah], then no reward have I asked of you, my reward is only from Allah, and I have been commanded to be one of the Muslims (those who submit to Allah’s Will). [Yunus. 72]

Yusuf said:

Cause me to die as a Muslim (the one submitting to Your Will), and join me with the righteous. [Yusuf. 101]

Bilqees said:

And I submit (in Islam, together with Sulaiman (Solomon), to Allah, the Lord of the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). [An-Naml. 44]

And deviating from upright conduct is not limited to the desires of the stomach and the private parts only, rather it related to desires of the stomach, the private parts, the desires of leadership, pride, self-exaltation and other than that. He (i.e. the person) is following his desires, even if he does not believe that it is a desire; (but) he is not like the misguided one, because he (i.e. the misguided one) thinks that he is doing well, and that is why Iblees was the first of those who deviated from upright conduct, as Allah said:

Because You have sent me astray, surely I will sit in wait against them (human beings) on Your Straight Path. Then I will come to them from before them and behind them, from their right and from their left, and You will not find most of them as thankful ones (i.e. they will not be dutiful to You). [Al-A’raf. 16-17]

O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them. [Al-Hijr. 39-40]

Allah said:

And (remember) the Day when He will call to them, and say: “Where are My (so-called) partners whom you used to assert?” Those about whom the Word will have come true (to be punished) will say: “Our Lord! These are they whom we led astray. We led them astray, as we were astray ourselves. We declare our innocence (from them) before You. It was not us they worshipped.” [Al-Qasas. 62-63]

Allah said:

Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. [Ash-Shu’araa 94-95]

That which is in the hadith, “What I fear for this Ummah of deviation from upright conduct”, is tantamount to deviation through desires of the stomach and private parts, but as for the deviation from upright conduct that is tantamount to arrogantly turning away from truth, this is the origin of unbelief, and the person upon this path is not from this Ummah, such as Iblees, Pharaoh and others. As for deviation from upright conduct through by desires of the stomachs and the private parts, this can happen to the people of faith, then they repent, as Allah said:

وَعَصَى آدَمُ رَبَّهُ فَغَوَى
ثُمَّ اجْتَبَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيْهِ وَهَدَى

Thus did Adam disobey his Lord, so he went astray. Then his Lord chose him, and turned to him with forgiveness, and gave him guidance. [Taa Haa. 121-122]

And in the Sunan and Al-Musnad from the hadith of Laith bin Sa’d on the authority of Yazid bin Al-Haad on the authority of Amr on the authority of Abu Saeed Al-Khudri who said: I heard Allaah’s Messenger (saying):

Indeed, Iblis said to his Lord, The Mighty and Majestic, “By Your Might and Majesty, I will not cease to deceive the children of Adam as long as the souls are in them (i.e. as long as they are alive)”. His Lord, The Mighty and Sublime, said to him, “By my Might and Majesty, I will not cease to forgive them as long as they ask forgiveness from me”.

May Allah have mercy on Shaikh Al- Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, and I ask Allah that this article will benefit all Muslims, especially students of knowledge. May Allah bless and bestow peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions.

[26] Notification to Ahlul Bidah and The Mumayyi’ah: These Clarifications Are Coming Back!

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “Had dogs not been a community amongst the communities, I would have commanded that all of them be killed”. [1] [Footnote a]

Shaikh Falah Ismaa’eel, may Allah have mercy upon him, stated in reference to the Khawarij:

The noteworthy aspect of their danger is that the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, expressed his intention to slaughter them, as Aad and Thamud were slaughtered, despite them being from the Ummah and people of the Qiblah, especially when one recalls the Messenger’s statement, “Had dogs not been a community among the communities, I would have commanded that all of them be killed”. Hence, a sensible individual contemplates what the Messenger of guidance and mercy wished to do to these Khawarij- despite their dedication to acts of worship such as prayer, fasting, and recitation of the Qur’an- which stands in contrast to what he prohibited himself and others regarding dogs. This serves as a piece of significant evidence highlighting the danger posed by the persistence of such thought [i.e. the ideas of the Khawarij] and the presence of such individuals within the Ummah because they weaken the Ummah and preoccupy it. (i.e. through internal strife, insecurity etc)

The Shaikh, may Allah have mercy upon him, also said: They are the basis of the panic, undermining security in the land and every deviation from the true methodology because they abandon knowledge and the scholars out of being deceived by their outward deeds. Due to this, the first thing Abdullah Ibn Abbas discredited them with was that there was not a single companion of Allah’s messenger amongst them and they are the initial carriers of knowledge. It is neither permissible for anyone to emerge and (hold a position in) religious matters except through them nor acquire knowledge except from them because they are the most knowledgeable regarding that which Allah and His Messenger intend through the (divine) text. [2]

Imam Wahb Ibn Munabbih, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

I was acquainted with the early period of Islam. By Allah, the Khaawaarij have never had a group except that Allah caused it to split because of their evil state of affairs. Never did one of them publicize his opinion except that Allah caused his neck to be struck. Never did the Muslim Ummah unite behind a man from the Khawaarij. If Allah allowed the opinion of the Khawaarij to be accepted and established, then the earth would have been corrupted, the carriageways would have been cut off, Hajj to the sacred house of Allah would have ceased and the affair of Islam would have reverted to ignorance until the people seek shelter in the mountains as they did in the time of ignorance. If ten or twenty men among them were to rise, there would not be a man among them except that he claims the khilaafah for himself- every man among them would have ten thousand other men with him and all of them fighting each other, accusing one another of disbelief until the believer fears for himself, his religion, his life, his family, his wealth, and would not know where to travel or who to be with”. [3]

NB: There is no vigilantism, instead the Khawarij are fought behind a legitimate Muslim Ruler

Imam Al-Barbahari, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

“It is permissible to fight the Khawaarij if they attack the wealth of the Muslims, or the Muslims and their families, but if they are dispersed, then the Muslim Ruler is not to seek after them, nor are their wounded to be killed, nor is booty taken from them, nor may those taken captive be killed, nor are those who flee to be pursued”.

Al-Allamah Salih Al-Fawzan, may Allah preserve him, said:

Regarding the statement of Al-Barbahari, may Allah have mercy upon him: “It is permissible to fight the Khawaarij if they attack the wealth of the Muslims, or the Muslims and their families”: (This is) because the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, commanded that they are to be fought, and because Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, fought them when they attacked and killed Abdullah Ibn Khabbab al Arrat and ripped open the stomach of his pregnant wife.  So Amir Al-Muminin decided to fight them as they brought about a good reason to be fought against.

And regarding the saying of Imam Barbahari: “But if they are dispersed, then the Muslim leader is not to seek after them”. If they desist from fighting, the ruler is not to chase them, nor carry out a military expedition against them, as long as they do not commit acts of transgression.  And no doubt they are misguided and are to be advised in hope that they may return (repentant) and are not fought.

And regarding the saying of Imam Al-Barbahari: “Nor are their wounded to be killed”. (This is) because the evil of the injured person is curtailed.

And regarding the saying of Imam Al-Barbahari: “Nor is booty to be taken from them”, meaning: their wealth is not to be taken as war booty because it is the wealth of the Muslims.

And regarding the saying of Imam Al-Barbahari: “Nor may those taken captive be killed”. (This is) because they are Muslims, and by being injured and taken as captive their evil is curtailed.

And regarding the saying of Imam Al-Barbahari: “Nor are those who flee to be pursued”.  If they flee, the leader is to leave them alone and not go after them as their evil is curtailed. [3.1]

Footnote a: Al-Khattabi, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: The meaning of this statement is that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, hated that a community amongst the communities and a species amongst the creation would disappear until all of them cease to exist. (This is) because there is not a creature from Allah’s creatures except that there is some wisdom and welfare behind their existence. So, when this is the case regarding this matter and there is no way of killing all of them, then kill the evil ones amongst them – the black ones- and leave the others, so that you benefit from them as guard dogs. [Ma’aalim As-Sunan 4/132] [NB: This does not mean that one takes the law into his own hands to kill any animal or violate the rules in any country by killing an animal]

Dogs we can keep:

Abdullah Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him and his father, said: Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, “Whoever keeps a dog, except a dog for herding livestock or a dog that is trained for hunting, two qiraats [i.e. great reward] will be deducted from his reward each day”. [4]

Imam Muhammad Ibn Salih Al-Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy upon him, said, “Due to this, if a house is located in the middle of the city, there is no need of having a dog to guard it. Therefore, to have a dog for this reason in such circumstances is unlawful and impermissible, and it takes away one or two qiraats from a person’s reward each day. However, if the house is located in the countryside and no is present, then it is allowed to have a dog to guard the house and the people residing in it. To guard people of a household is more important than guarding livestock or crops. [5]

The Hunting Dog

Allah, The Most High, said:

They ask you [O Muhammad)] what is lawful for them [as food]. Say: “Lawful unto you are At-Tayyibat [all kind of Halal (lawful-good) foods which Allah has made lawful (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables, and fruits, etc.)]. And those beasts and birds of prey which you have trained as hounds, training and teaching them [to catch] in the manner as directed to you by Allah; so eat of what they catch for you, but pronounce the Name of Allah over it, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Swift in reckoning”. [Al-Ma’dah 4]

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

Indeed, Allah, Glorified be He, free from all imperfections, declared the prey of the untrained hound dead meat and unlawful to eat, and He declared lawful the prey of the trained hound. This is from that which shows the nobility of knowledge because Allaah did not declare lawful except the prey of the trained hound. Had it not been that knowledge and teaching have a special distinguished virtue and nobility, the trained and untrained hound would have been the same. [6]

Relocation of Some Khawarij After Their Battle Against The Prophet’s Companions

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Four thousand Khawarij were fought against by Ali, Ameerul Mumineen, may Allah be pleased with him, at Nahrawan and none of them survived except nine. Two men from them departed to Sijistan and through them appeared the Khawarij of Sijstaan; two men from them departed to Yemen and through them appeared the Ibadiyyah of Yemen; two men from them departed to Oman and through them appeared the Khawarij of Oman; two men from them departed towards other regions of the Arabian Peninsula and through them appeared the Khawarij of those regions. A man from them departed to Syria. This was one of the reasons behind their settlement in different lands. Thereafter, they became different murderous sects upon divergent creeds.

Are you a Haruree?

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Mu’aathah, may Allah have mercy upon her, asked Aa’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her:

“Why does the menstruating woman make up for the missed days of fasting but not for the missed prayers?” She said, “We used to menstruate during the lifetime of the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and we were commanded (by him) to make up for the missed days of fasting and not to make up for the missed prayers”. And in another report, Mu’aathah said that Aa’isha said to her, “Are you a Haruriyyah?”

Haruriyyah: The word Haruriyyah is the female noun of Haruree, and it is attributed to Haruraa – a town 2 miles from Kufa. The one who believed in the path of the Khawarij was referred to as Haruree because they were the first sect – amongst them – that rebelled against Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, at that town (Haruraa). The khawarij are numerous groups and one of their fundamental principles- which they agreed upon amongst themselves – is that they accepted what is stated in the Qur’an and rejected the additional text found in the Hadith. Aaisha’s disapproval against her (i.e. against Mu’aathah due to the question she asked) was either due to her (i.e. Aa’isha’s) knowledge of the fact that they (i.e. the Khawarij of Haruraa) used to obligate to the women to make up for the missed prayers after menstruation, because Ibn Abdul Barr, may Allah have mercy upon him, reported a statement about this from a group amongst the Khawarij, or due to her knowledge that their fundamental principle necessitated that. (1)

Many Amongst Ahlul Bidah – Including The Khawaarij – Went Astray Due to Their Misguided Intellects

Imam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz, may Allah have mercy upon him, was asked:

Shaikh, are the ones who depend on their intellects in understanding many of the affairs of the religion considered to be from those who are mistaken?

Response: Yes; it is obligated to him not to depend on his intellect, rather he studies the texts and relies on the divine texts from the speech of Allah and that of Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, because there is guidance in it and direction towards good. As for the intellect, it can be right or wrong. The sects that oppose Ahlus sunnah were destroyed due to their intellects. They thought that they had good intellects and that their intellects arrived at what is correct, thus they opposed the texts through their stagnant intellects which they thought were sound.

What was that which made the Jahmiyyah negate the Perfect Names and Attributes of Allah, except due to their corrupt intellects?!

What was it that led the Mutazilah to negate the attributes of Allah and declared that the sinners [i.e. those who die whilst committing the major sins that are lesser that major kufr and major shirk] will remain in the fire forever, except due to their corrupt intellects?! Likewise, is the case of their followers who utter this same speech.

What led the Khawarij to excommunicate the people due to committing sins – that the sinner is a disbeliever and that he will remain in the fire forever, except due to their corrupt intellects.

Similarly, this is the case regarding other than them amongst the proponents of Bidah. The intellects they depend upon is that which destroy them, because they think that their intellects are safe, sound, good and infallible, whereas that is not the case; rather it is not infallible – commits mistakes a lot; however they hold a good suspicion regarding their intellects and an evil suspicion regarding the texts, thus they are destroyed.

It is obligatory to have good suspicion of the texts and an evil suspicion of the intellect, and to submit the intellects to the texts. The texts are infallible if their chain of transmission are established to be authentic. As for the intellects, they are fallible. A person is susceptible to mistakes, shortcoming and desires. As for the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, what he conveyed from Allah is infallible. Similarly, the Qur’an is infallible- the speech of Allah. Therefore, it is obligatory that the Qur’an and Sunnah passes a judgement on your intellect and that you give precedence to the Qur’an and Sunnah over your intellect- over the intellect of the Shaikh, the Mashaayikh, your forefathers, ancestors and all the people. The texts are given precedence over all the intellects. (2)

Al-Allamah Salih Al-Fawzaan, may Allah preserve him, said:

“The khawaarij are of different types: amongst them are those who carry weapons; there are those who speak like the who said to the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, “Be Just”. Amongst them are those who write and amongst them is the one who believes in his heart, but he neither speaks nor does anything; however he has the belief of the khawarij in his creed. But some of them are worse than others”. (3)

Reflections on some statements of Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Mad’khali [105]

In The Name of Allāh, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Telephone Link Between Al-Allamah Rabee, may Allah have mercy upon him, and the “Strangers Brigade” dated 2nd Ramadan 1420 AH (1999)

Questioner: The brothers here have realised that there is no path to guidance and truth except by returning to the scholars — the scholars of Ahl Al-Sunnah — in this era, asking them, and adhering to their statements thereafter. Now, we present to you the most critical issue currently unfolding on the Algerian scene, which is the ongoing conflict between us and the ruling regime for the past eight years. We seek to know your opinion on this matter together with the largest platoon.

We have questions that we urgently need you to clarify the truth for us, so we hope, dear Shaikh, for a thorough and clear explanation. Please open your heart to us and perhaps Allah may guide back to the truth those who have strayed from it, and Allah’s aid is sought!

First question: What is your opinion on the ongoing conflict in Algeria? On what basis do you form your statements and stance, dear Shaikh, knowing that we adhere to the Salafi methodology, uphold the banner of Ahl As-Sunnah Wal Jama’ah, and disassociate ourselves from Jama’ah Takfir Wal-Hijrah that commit massacres and atrocities? We also disassociate ourselves from the proponents of illegal partisanship who revolve around elections and partisanship, among other things?

The Shaikh Responded: May Allah reward you with goodness. I am currently preparing to go to the prayer at Masjid Al-Haram. I want to remind you of the fatwas from scholars and Imams of the Sunnah in this era, such as Shaikh Al-Albani, Shaikh Ibn Baz, and Ibn Uthaymeen. Have you heard and read their fatwas?

Questioner: Yes, we have received them, but some doubts have prevented us from benefiting from them, and we need your answers to these, O our Shaikh.

The Shaikh: Therefore, the answers to these questions will be postponed until I return from prayer at the Masjid Al-Haram. Then, the Shaikh made another appointment for later that same day. But before the call ended, the Shaikh added: I have a quick question for you: What percentage of these individuals are Salafis?

Questioner: They are a large group, O our Shaikh, a very large group!

The Shaikh: Good, if they are Salafis, why didn’t they refer to the scholars before getting involved in this problem?

Questioner: They were actually relying on a fatwa from Shaikh Nasir Ad-Din al-Albani — I mean — an old fatwa, but it has now become clear that it wasn’t — you know — as strong and sound as they thought, and Allah knows best.

The Shaikh: Good, InShaAlllah, in any case, the investigation will continue later.

And at the appointed time, the revolutionaries contacted the Shaikh

Questioner: We would like to inform you that the ones speaking to you now are your brothers from Algeria, specifically the fighters of the “Salafi Group for Preaching and Combat”, and we are part of one of its brigades: “The Strangers Brigade” in Bouira. Of course, we’ll return after having received insights from the scholars, and we would like to present you with some questions. We had already given you the initial part this morning, and now we are providing you with the details, InShaAllah. Generally, I would like to provide you, our Shaikh, with an overview of the events that have transpired from the beginning until today; so that you have a complete picture of what has occurred, InShaAllah.

As you know, our Shaikh, the issue began with the emergence of the “Islamic Salvation Front” on the scene. The concept of partisanship and elections came into play, but then the elections were halted, leading to the events that unfolded during that time. In 1992, a group among the Takferis initiated acts of violence, while the “Islamic Salvation Front”, during that period, was only supporting the fight through media, encouraging the youth to participate. After that, it spread among the brothers that Shaikh Nasir Ad-Din al-Albani had issued a fatwa regarding this fighting, saying: “Hasten! Hasten!” There is an audio recording from that time, amidst the media circumstances and the changing conditions, I mean the youth began to join these fighters in waves.

The Shaikh: Let me hear the tape of al-Albani.

Questioner: What Shaikh?

The Shaikh: Let me hear the words of Shaikh al-Albani where he said “Hasten! Hasten”.  I say: Let me listen to the voice of Shaikh Al-Albani, whose fatwa you have relied upon.

Questioner: The tape is available, but it is based on a reality that does not correspond to the one that the Shaikh was asked about; it did not provide the correct circumstances. It was made to seem to him that there were certain provisions, and that there were 7 million and 3 million, and so forth. Thus, the Shaikh said: “Hasten! Hasten!” as if he understood the opposite of the true circunmstances, leading to the situation that occurred.

The Shaikh: I say, may Allah bless you: Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger, his family, and his companions, and those who follow his guidance. Now, I see that you distinguish between the Salafis and the Takfiris?

Questioner: Yes, indeed!

The Shaikh: From what you’ve said, I understand that you disassociate yourselves from those who declare an unrestricted takfir against the people. Does this imply that you also engage in takfir?

Questioner: Yes, indeed! Yes, indeed! We are not in that manner, but rather in a different way.

The Shaikh: What is your form of takfir?

Questioner: The group declares takfir on the ruler, which is why they have revolted against him.

The Shaikh: The ruler, the army, the ministers, and those around them?

Questioner: Yes indeed! Anyone who joins the ruler’s faction is fought alongside him!

The Shaikh: Do they fight him on the grounds that he is an unbeliever?

Questioner: No, not in the sense of a specific act of disbelief. Not every individual in the faction is considered specifically an unbeliever, O our Shaikh!

The Shaikh: Do you consider the ruler to be an unbeliever at present?

Questioner: Yes, indeed!

The Shaikh: Why do you label him as such?

Questioner: Based on the fact that he has set aside Islamic law and replaced it with man-made laws, and he has fought against Muslims, and Shaikh Nasir Ad-Din al-Albani has issued a fatwa on this matter, as I mentioned to you earlier.

The Shaikh: No! Now, what about the new fatwa from Al-Albani?

Questioner:  The new one? This is where our confusion and bewilderment lie, O our Shaikh!

The Shaikh: Al-Albani declares the rulers of Algeria to be disbelievers? Did Al-Uthaymeen or Al-Fawzan say that the rulers are disbelievers? Laa Hawla Walaa Quwwata Illaa Billaah!

Questioner: They did not say that, O our Shaikh.

The Shaikh: Good, and you believe that their disbelief is evident and that there is a proof from Allah, as if they said that Islam is not suitable, that it is backward, and that these laws are better than Islam. Did they say this?

Questioner: We have not heard this from them, O our Shaikh.

The Shaikh: Therefore, you have no clear evidence that they are unbelievers upon a clear (blatant) disbelief. This should be treated according to what has been mentioned in the hadiths that have been transmitted from Allāh’s messenger, peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him, about the Muslim’s stance towards a deviated ruler – the rulers whose good deeds you know and approve and disapprove of their evil deed, about whom he (the Prophet) was said: “They are guided by other than my guidance and follow a path other than my Sunnah”. And there are many hadiths on this matter to the extent that when the Prophet was asked: “Should we fight them?” He replied: “No, not as long as they establish prayer among you”. This means they deviate while in Islam to the very end. If they continue to pray and claim to be Muslims, they should not be fought or rebelled against. Do you understand these points?

Questioner: We listen to you, our virtuous Shaikh, and we are learning from you now.

The Shaikh: Yes, may Allah bless you, study these hadiths, study the statements of the scholars, and study the speech of Al-Albani. You must seek knowledge. Then I ask you: after eight years, what are the fruits of this fighting? What have the Muslims gained from this Jihad?

Questioner: So far, nothing, Shaikh!

The Shaikh: How many have been killed, how much wealth has been lost, how many rights have been violated, and so on?

Questioner: A lot! A lot!

The Shaikh: So many! So many! You have supported this situation, you have backed the Takferis who shed blood, and they have been emboldened by your, and you aided them. You say that you are Salafis and that you oppose their views, but they benefit from your support, and their boldness (in committing crimes) against this society increases through you, crushing them, leaving them with neither (practice of the) religion nor worldly possessions! Is Islam pleased with these qualities?!

Questioner: No, our Shaikh! We have indeed had conflict and disputes with them.

The Shaikh: What led the Algerian people, including its youth, students, and others, to embrace Salafism? Was it this current situation or the time of the revolution and turmoil?

Questioner: The current situation is not better!

The Shaikh: Good, you fought to improve the situation compared to what it was?

Questioner: Yes, indeed! Yes, indeed! It’s an evil situation, O our Shaikh, it’s an evil situation until now!

The Shaikh: Do you not find a lesson in this?! Isn’t this proof that this jihad stemmed from ignorance, and (dubious) Fatwas, we ask Allah for safety. They did not seek guidance from scholars, and instead took the wicked ones – ignorant ones- as leaders – who issue rulings without knowledge, leading themselves and others astray, and they did not stop at misguidance only, but went further to spill blood and destroy Islam. Islam has been severely and horrifically destroyed in Algeria due to the actions of these people!! Perhaps if they had not rushed and had approached knowledge with insight, the Islamic state in Algeria might have been a reality. However, due to their ignorance and ill intentions—because their motives are corrupt and they seek only power—they do not aim to elevate the word of Allāh. They desire to ascend to the pinnacle of governance, which is why they have created elections, democracy, and empty rhetoric. Their only focus is on wrestling with the rulers, and their sole concern is to reach the heights of power. After achieving that, they turn their backs on Islam, just as their counterparts have done in Sudan, Turkey, and elsewhere.

If these individuals were to gain power, they would increase fear and oppression among the people, straying further from Islam…So now… take heed from what has transpired, and roll up your sleeves to gain knowledge and guide this good nation back to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger, so that it may return to its former state before this turmoil, and then advance towards achieving the goals that Islam aspires to.

Questioner: Our Shaikh! According to your statement, it seems that one cannot declare a ruler to be a disbeliever, even if he rules by laws other than what Allah has revealed, until the scholars make such a judgment.

The Shaikh: Yes! The scholars must first see a clear act of disbelief, and then after the fatwa is issued, the question arises whether to fight or not; because Allah said:

وَأَعِدُّوا لَهُمْ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَمِن رِبَاطِ الخَيْلِ تُرْهِبُونَ بِهِ عَدُوَّ اللهِ وَعَدُوَّكُمْ

And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war by which you may terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy.  [Al-Anfal 60]

This applies if they are unbelievers (i.e. a declared war under a Muslim ruler). I had some young men come to me at the beginning of this conflict, and I asked them: Have you prepared for battle, considering they are disbelievers in your eyes? They replied: No! I said: You do not have power, while they possess aircrafts, tanks, and so much more, backed by Britain, America, and all the other nations. You have nothing at your disposal, so you haven’t prepared the necessary measures to instill fear in the enemy of Allah. Instead, you have only prepared what encourages the enemy of Allāh against you and Islam. Even if the ruler is openly a disbeliever, in Algeria or elsewhere, it is essential to refer to the scholars. They are the ones who can assess the benefits and harms, determining when fighting is justified and when it is not, and so on. It should not be left to the foolish, the ignorant, or those with ambitions for power. This is a mistake, and you have seen the consequences of this recklessness.

You must repent to Allah, the Exalted, for you may not escape accountability before Him regarding the blood that has been shed, the honour that has been violated, and the wealth that has been stolen and plundered. So turn to Allah with a sincere repentance — may Allah bless you — for you bear the responsibility before Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, because you have participated with these people. Therefore, repent to Allah with a sincere repentance for what has happened to the rights of the Muslims… the oppressed. Then roll up your sleeves, for Allah accepts repentance. And roll up your sleeves in earnest pursuit of knowledge, and call upon your brothers who remain in the mountains to repent and return to Allah. Convey to them the likes of this.

Believer’s Bahaviour Towards Muslim Rulers – [Supplicates For Them….]

A Weaponised Ambiguity of Some of The Khawārij Broken and Scattered

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah, The Most High, said:

أَفَمَن زُيِّنَ لَهُ سُوءُ عَمَلِهِ فَرَآهُ حَسَنًا ۖ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يُضِلُّ مَن يَشَاءُ وَيَهْدِي مَن يَشَاءُ ۖ فَلَا تَذْهَبْ نَفْسُكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَسَرَاتٍ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ بِمَا يَصْنَعُونَ

Is he, then, to whom the evil of his deeds made fair-seeming, so that he considers it as good? Verily, Allah sends astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. So destroy not yourself (O Muhammad) in sorrow for them. Truly, Allah is the All-Knower of what they do! [Fatir. 8]

Is he, then, to whom the evil of his deeds made fair-seeming].

Meaning, his evil and repugnant deeds have been made fair-seeming to him by shaytan and beautified in his eyes;

so that he considers it as good.

Meaning, considers his evil and repugnant deeds to be good like the one whom Allah has guided to the straight path and upright religion, but are the two the same? The first one commits evil deeds, considers truth to be falsehood and falsehood to be truth, and the second person performs good deeds, considers truth to be truth and falsehood to be falsehood. However, guidance is in the hands of Allāh.

Verily, Allah sends astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. So destroy not yourself (O Muhammad) in sorrow for them.

Meaning, the misguided ones to whom their evil deeds are made fair-seeming and shaytan hinders them from the truth. There is nothing obligated to you (O Muhammad) except to convey the message and there is nothing on you regarding their guidance, rather Allah is the one who will recompense them for their deeds. [ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ بِمَا يَصْنَعُونَ- Truly, Allah is the All-Knower of what they do]. [1]

Sa’eed Bin Jubair, may Allāh have mercy upon him, said:

“This was revealed concerning the people of Bidah and evil desires”.

Qatadah, may Allāh have mercy upon him, said:

“And from them are the kharijites who make lawful the spilling of the blood of the Muslims and confiscating their wealth. As for the Muslims who commit major sins,  they are not from them (i.e. not from those whom the evil of their deeds are made fair-seeming) because they do not declare the major sins to be lawful. The one to whom doubts are made fair-seeming and is submerged in it, and his deeds are made fair-seeming to him, thus, he considers it as good, shaytan makes it fair-seeming to him through whispers”. [ 2] [end of quotes]

Some Kharijites (terrorists) seek to use this hadith to justify their heinous knife crimes in the name of Islam, but as usual, they are terribly mistaken – may Allah guide them or protect us from their dangerous misconceptions Amin.

Context of The Hadith “With slaughter I came to you”. (a)

Abdullah Ibn Amr Ibn Aas, may Allah be pleased with him and his father] was asked about the worst thing he saw committed by the Quraysh against Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, so he said:

“I was present when their notables met together one day in al-Hijr. They spoke about Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said, ‘We have never exercised patience in anything similar to that which we are exercising patient regarding this man. He has declared us fools, reviled our forefathers, criticised our religion, split our ranks and insulted our gods. Indeed, we have exercised patience regarding him in a great matter – or they stated some statement to that effect’.

So, while they were engaged in that discussion, Allah’s Messenger appeared and kept on walking until he touched the corner (of the Kabah, where the Black Stone is); then he went past them as he performed Tawaf around the Kabah. When he went past them, they made fun of some of the statements he was uttering, and I could see from (the expression) on his face that it (offended him). He carried on and when he went past them the second time, they made fun of him in the same manner and I could see from (the expression] on his face that it (offended him).

Then he carried on and when he went past them the third time, they made fun of him in the same manner. He said, ‘O Quraish! Listen to me. By the One in Whose hand is Muhammad’s soul, I have brought slaughter to you’. The people were very shocked by his statement to the extent that there was not a man among them except that he froze, as if there was a bird on his head, and those who uttered the harshest statements to him – prior to that – began speaking to him with the best words, saying, ‘O Abu Al-Qasim! Go away, go away, because by Allah you have never been an ignorant person’. So he left them.

The next day, they gathered at al-Hijr and I was with them. They said to one another, ‘You stated how impatient you are becoming with him, what you have heard about him and what he is saying, then as soon as he said something that alarmed you, you left him alone’. While they were in that state, Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, appeared and they all rushed towards him together, surrounded him and said, ‘You are the one who said such and such’ – making reference to what has reached them regarding the criticism he directs at their gods and religion. He said, ‘Yes, I am the one who said that’. I saw a man among them grab the neck of his garment, then Abu Bakr as-Siddeeq, may Allah be pleased with him, got up to defend him and said while crying, ‘Would you kill a man just because he says, ‘My lord is Allah?’ They left him and that was the worst incident of aggression I saw from the Quraish. [3]

In another hadith reported by Imam Al-Bukhari, Urwa Bin Zubayr, may Allah have mercy upon him, said, “I asked Abdullah ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, ‘What was the worst thing the pagans did to Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him?’ He said, ‘I saw Uqbah Bin Abee Mu’ayt coming to the Prophet while he was praying and put his sheet around his neck and squeezed it hard. Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, came and pulled Uqba away from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said, ‘Do you intend to kill a man just because he says, ‘My Lord is Allah’, and he has brought forth clear signs (proofs) from your Lord?'”. [4]

So, we clearly see in the above narrations that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was greatly harmed by the Quraish notables. And regarding the statement of the Prophet, “O Quraish! Listen to me. By the One in Whose hand is Muhammad’s soul, I have brought slaughter to you”, Al-Allamah Salih Aala Ash-Shaikh, may Allah preserve him, said:

These people [i.e. Kharijites] come along uttering things and doubts that the Prophet said, ‘I have brought you slaughter’… ‘I have brought you slaughter’. They understand the word slaughter to mean the cutting off the head. This is an understanding that is very far removed from what is correct. And from the proofs that it is far removed from what is correct is that it has not been implemented (in this manner) by anyone from the Muslim Ummah – among the companions of the Prophet to whom this statement was made – up until our present time when these [khaarijites] implemented it in this manner!

The context of the Prophet’s statement “I have brought you slaughter” is that the Arabs and the disbelievers before Islam used to treat the captive or the enemy in various ways- torture, punishment, humiliation etc.. The Prophet forbade all of that, and said, “I have brought you slaughter”, meaning killing through confrontation [i.e. when war takes between combatants]. Slaughter in this context means to killing and encounter (between combatants) and it does not mean to pull out a knife as it is said or as they assume. Therefore, all that the Arabs used to do with regards to torturing the people before death, cutting off the ears, mutilating the person during war etc, Islam eradicated it, Thus, one thing remained and that is to kill (during war between combatants). If the person is not killed, he is to be honoured, safeguarded, protected and (wounds) treated. He has the well-known rulings related to the affair of a captive. This hadith has many ramifications and detail explanation [i.e. other than the false understanding derived from it by the Khaarijites]. [5] [end of quote]

Therefore, we remind those biased non-Muslims who utilise merely use the kharijites for their own agendas that after being acquainted with the correct understanding of this hadith, you must cease attributing the deeds of the Khawaarij (ISIS, Boko Haram, Al-Qaeda and their ilk) to Islam?! If you do not cease, then indeed, you have uttered a mighty slander against Allah and His Messenber. Indeed, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, informed us about the khawarij in many ahadith. He said:

“A people will come from the east who recite the Qur’aan, but it will not go beyond their throats. They will pass through the religion just as an arrow pierces its target and they will not return to it just as the arrow does not return to the bow”. [Al-Bukhaari 7123]

He said:

“During the last days [i.e. end of time], there will be young people with foolish dreams. They will say the best of statements amongst creation, but they will pass through Islam just as an arrow passes through its game. Their Eemaan will not go beyond their throats”. [Al-Bukhari 4770]

He said:

“There will be discord and division in my Ummah and a people will come with beautiful statements but evil deeds. They recite the Qur’aan, but it will not go beyond their throats. They will exit the religion just as an arrow leaves its target and they will not return until the arrows returns to its notch. They are the worst of the creation”. [Abu Dawud 4765]

He said:

“Some people from my Ummah will emerge from the east, who recite the Quran but it will not go beyond their throats. Every time a group of them appears it will be cut off. The Messenger repeated this and on the tenth time he said, “Every time a group of them emerges, it will be cut off, until Dajjaaj appears from their remnants”. [Musnad Aḥmad 27767]

Ubaydullah Ibn Abee Rafi, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

“The Khawarij came out against Ali ibn Abee Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, and said, ‘There is no judgement, except the judgement of Allah’, so Ali said them, ‘A statement of truth by way of which falsehood is intended'”. [Ṣaḥih  Muslim 1066]

Imam Wahb Ibn Munabbih, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

“I was acquainted with the early period of Islam. By Allah, the Khawarij have never had a group except that Allah caused it to split because of their evil state of affairs. Never did one of them publicize his opinion except that Allah caused his neck to be struck. Never did the Muslim Ummah unite behind a man from the Khawarij. If Allah allowed the opinion of the Khawarij to be accepted and established, then the earth would have been corrupted, the carriageways would have been cut off, Hajj to the sacred house of Allah would have ceased and the affair of Islam would have reverted to ignorance until the people seek shelter in the mountains as they did in the time of ignorance. If ten or twenty men among them were to rise, there would not be a man among them except that he claims the khilafah for himself- every man among them would have ten thousand other men with him and all of them fighting each other, accusing one another of disbelief until the believer fears for himself, his religion, his life, his family, his wealth, and would not know where to travel or who to be with”. [6]

Imam at-Tabari, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

“The Khawarij came to a village and captured a man and his daughter. She said to them, ‘O people of Islaam! Verily, my father is an old man so do not kill him, and I am only a girl. By Allaah, I have never committed immorality and I have never harmed anyone’. They brought her out to murder her whilst she kept on saying, ‘What sin have I committed; what sin have I committed?’ She fainted thereafter and they killed her with their swords”. [7] [end of quotes]

Indeed, we have all witnessed the atrocities perpetrated by the present day Khawaarij, just as the above mentioned three Imams of the Sunnah reported incidents regarding ISIS’s, Boko Haram’s, Al-Shabab’s and Al-Qaeda’s barbaric predecessors. The khawarij do not even spare one another, as Imam Wahb Ibn Munabbih stated, “If ten or twenty men among them were to rise, there would not be a man among them except that he claims the Caliphate for himself; every man among them would have ten thousand other men with him and all of them fighting each other, accusing one another of disbelief”.

Therefore, this victory mentioned in the hadith is not for the criminals of ISIS, rather the Prophet stated that whenever a group of the Khawarij emerges they will be cut off.

Finally, there is no room left to argue that because the leaders of this or that specific non-Muslim nation did such and such to this or that Muslim country during colonialism, thus, we must treat their citizens in the manner we wish; rather, the Muslim rulers during war are commanded to adhere to obedience to Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger. This is neither an apologetic stance nor blameworthy compromise, rather, it is rooted in Islamic law. We have a beautiful example regarding this matter. Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported:

“The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, sent a troop of fighters towards Najd and they brought a man from the tribe of Banu Haneefah who was called Thumamah bin Uthaal. He was then tied to one of the pillars of the Masjid. The Prophet went to him and said, “What have you got, O Thumamah?” He replied, “I have got a good thought, O Muhammad! If you should kill me, you would kill a person who has already killed somebody, and if you should set me free, you would do a favor to one who is grateful, and if you want property, then ask me whatever wealth you want.” So, he was left till the next day when again the Prophet said to him, “What have you got, O Thumamah?” He said, “What I have already told you”. The Prophet left him till the day after, and said to him again, “What have you got, O Thumamah?” He said, “I have got what I told you. So the Prophet said, “Set him free”.

Then (Thumamah) went to a garden of date palm trees near the Masjid, took a bath, entered the Masjid, and then said, “I testify that None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, and also testify that Muhammad is His Messenger! By Allah, O Muhammad! There was no face on the surface of the earth most disliked by me than yours, but now your face has become the most beloved face to me. By Allah, there was no religion most disliked by me than yours, but now it is the most beloved religion to me. By Allah, there was no town most disliked by me than your town, but now it is the most beloved town to me. Your troops arrested me (at the time) when I was intending to perform the `Umra. And now what do you think?” The Prophet gave him good tidings of good in this world and the next, and ordered him to perform the `Umra. So when he came to Makkah, someone said to him, “You have become a Sabian?” He replied, “No! By Allah, I have submitted to Islam with Muhammad, Allah’s Messenger. No, by Allah! Not a single grain of wheat will come to you from Yamamah unless the Prophet gives his permission.” [8]

The Prophet asked Thumamah, “What have you got O Thumamah?” He replied that he has good thoughts about the Prophet- Meaning, “You O Muhammad never oppress anyone, rather you are from those who pardon and do good”. So after he was set free, he entered Makkah to perform Umrah and then pronounced the Talbilya and he was the first to enter Makkah in that manner, so Quraish grabbed him and said, “You have the audacity to do this to us”, and they wanted to kill him; then a person amongst the Quraish said, “Leave him because you are in need of food from Yamaamah (i.e. from his land)”, so they released him. Then he said to them, “By Allah! Not a single grain of wheat will come to you from Yamamah unless the Prophet gives his permission.” Ibn Hisham said, “Then Thumamah returned to Yamamah and prevented the Quraish from bringing any food to Makkah, so the Quraish wrote to the Prophet saying, “Indeed, you command people to keep good the ties of kinship”, so the Prophet wrote to Thumamah to allow them to transport their food”. [9]

True Believers’ Attitude Towards Feeding Those in Need, Including Captured Combatants

Allah [The Exalted] informed us of some of the qualities of the Abrar [The pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil]: ويُطۡعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ – And they give food, in spite of their love for it]- Meaning, they are in a state in which they love wealth and food, but they give precedence to the love of Allah over the what their souls love and seek to feed the people who deserve and need it the most; [مِسۡكِينً۬ا وَيَتِيمً۬ا وَأَسِيرًا – the Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive (10)]; saying, [إِنَّمَا نُطۡعِمُكُمۡ لِوَجۡهِ ٱللَّهِ -We feed you seeking Allah’s Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you] – Meaning, to seek Allaah’s Reward. Mujaahid and Ibn Jubayr [may Allaah have mercy upon them] said, “As for these people, they did not make this statement, but Allaah knows this is what is in their hearts, so He praised them for it as an exhortation for the one who desires to do so”. [لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمۡ جَزَآءً۬ – We wish for no reward]- Meaning, by way of actions; [وَلَا شُكُورًا – nor thanks]- Meaning, by way of statement. [11]

[إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوۡمًا عَبُوسً۬ا قَمۡطَرِيرً۬ا – Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)]. [فَوَقَٮٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٲلِكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمِ وَلَقَّٮٰهُمۡ نَضۡرَةً۬ وَسُرُورً۬ا – So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy]. [Surah Al-Insan. 8-11] [End of quote]

Indeed, the path of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, stands as the only truly exemplary path to follow in all matters of life. In our time, we have seen the harsh treatment of prisoners of war by some soldiers acting under the influence of global powers in places like Iraq and Afghanistan. We have also observed the actions of groups such as Al Qaeda, Al Shabab, ISIS, Boko Haram, and some soldiers under Netanyahu’s command. In contrast, we can reflect on the compassionate way the Messenger and his companions treated Thumamah, may Allah be pleased with him. In a similar vein, while it is undeniable that some members of Netanyahu’s security forces have perpetrated a great transgressions, it remains utterly indefensible to rationalise Hamas’s assaults on non-combatants and unarmed civilians under Netanyahu’s administration. Read the article: Just Rules of Fighting in the Sharīʿah of Islām Compared to Genocidal, Ethnic-Cleansing, Tribal-Vengeance Doctrines and Excesses of Trojan-Horse Muslim Extremists: https://abuiyaad.com/a/amalekite-genocide-doctrine-gaza

Also, in our era we’ve witnessed some globalists as well as Netanyahu’s henchmen placing sanctions on their opponents, often hurting innocent civilians more than the ones they claim to be targeting. However, consider how the Prophet handled the hostile Quraysh when Thumamah said to them, “By Allah! Not a single grain of wheat will come to you from Yamamah unless the Prophet gives his permission”. They wrote to the Messenger and pleaded with him, so he allowed them to freely carry their food, even though they were his staunchest enemies who sought to starve him and Banu Hashim; rather they even attempted to murder him.

We ask Allah to grant us the ability to follow the authentic Sunnah of the Messenger because that is the only path to salvation, as Allah [The Exalted] stated: [لَقَدۡ كَانَ لَكُمۡ فِيہِمۡ أُسۡوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ۬ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرۡجُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلۡيَوۡمَ ٱلۡأَخِرَ‌ۚ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡغَنِىُّ ٱلۡحَمِيدُ – Certainly, there has been in them an excellent example for you to follow, for those who look forward to (the Meeting with) Allah (for the reward from Him) and the Last Day. And whosoever turn away, then verily, Allah is Rich (Free of all wants), Worthy of all Praise]. [Surah Al-Mumtahinah. 6]

Political Islam and Islamists: Convenient and Opportunistic Conceptual Distortions

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Political Islam and Islamists: Convenient and Opportunistic Conceptual Distortions by Ideologues, Demagogues, and Rabble-Rousers

Allah, The Most High, said:

إِنَّكُمْ لَفِى قَوْلٍ مُّخْتَلِفٍ
يُؤْفَكُ عَنْهُ مَنْ أُفِكَ
قُتِلَ ٱلْخَرَّٰصُونَ
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى غَمْرَةٍ سَاهُونَ

Indeed, you are in differing speech (regarding the Prophet and this Qurʾān). Misguided away from it (the Qurʾān) are those who have been misguided (by such speech). (So) cursed be the premeditated liars (who spread doubts and lies regarding Allāh and His signs). Who are immersed in a flood of heedlessness (and ignorance). [Adh-Dhariyat 8-11] [1]

Indeed, some ideologues, demagogues, and provocateurs, under the guise of academic research, employ various terminologies to articulate their own interpretations of the Shariah. Thus, they render judgments that aim to classify groups identifying as Muslim or to critique Islam itself, often relying on partial truths or the distortions and innovated practices of the misguided sects that affiliate with Islam. A notable example of this is the term “Political Islam,” which they often utilise when addressing the Takfiris, Sururis, and other advocates of innovated political activism. Consequently, individuals not fitting this characterisation – in their view – are assigned alternative labels, such as moderates or non-violent extremists. Perhaps the most ludicrous classification is the division of Salafiyyah into Quietists, Politicos, and Jihadists. [Footnote a]

Firstly, the term “Political Islam”, when associated with certain groups, can inadvertently suggest a superficial categorisation, rather than clarifying the distinction between advocates of innovative political activism and the established political framework of the pure Shariah. Thus, the aim here is to transmit some statements of the Salafi scholars regarding Islam and politics.

First, it is essential to recognise that in Islam, the realms of state and religion are intricately intertwined, with no separation between the two. Imam Muhammad Ibn Salih Al-Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

The intent behind ‘Separation between religion and Siyaasah’ implies that the ruler can do what he wants according to what he thinks is a means to fulfilling (responsibility) of state affairs, regardless of whether it aligns with Shariah or not; or even what he does is based on the judgement of the religion. This is because separation denotes a distinction between two entities and asigning them specific definitions. Thus, the ruler may pursue what he considers to be beneficial even if it opposes the Shariah. Undoubtedly this is a false and sinfu; statement, as religion and Siyaasah are inherently interconnected; however, what we mean by Siyaasah is the Siyaasah that is based on justice rather than oppression. The religion came to promote well being for the people in their behaviour towards their Lord and with one another. It establishes the Rights of Allah, rights for the people- parents, relatives, wives, and the Muslims at large. Even for non-Muslims, Islam has given them rights that are well known to the scholars.
It establishes the conditions for war and peace, punishments for crimes- some of which are explicitly defined in texts, while others are subject to the discretion of the ruler, as well as other matters that clearly illustrates that Islam, in its entirety, is Siyaasah. The root of the word Siyaasah is Saa’is, referring to one who oversees the welfare of animals, ensuring their well-being and protecting them from harm. This principle is evident when we reflect on the religious matters that Allah has legislated for His servants, which are essential for establishing (a fruitful, stable, orderly, and safe) life; and prohibited actions that will corrupt their circumstances- either affecting everyone or specific individuals. Thus, it can be asserted that the entirety of the religion is Siyaasah. We are certain that anyone who dissociates Siyaasah from the Religion, and implement Siyaasah based on what he sees fit and what he forbids, his Siyaasah is corrupt and will cause more harm than good. If one aspect is rectified based on his dificient opinions, it greatly corrupts from another angle. Therefore, it is incumbent that one reflects on the circumstances of those who base their Siyaasah on their desires and opinions, distancing themselves from the principles of Islam. You will find – after contemplating – that either the entirety of their Siyaasah is corrupt or most of it. If it rectifies a matter from one perspective, it corrupts from another. Consequently, the separation of between Siyaasah and religion is a sinful deed and it is obligated to the one who seeks to rectify himself and others to do so in accordance with Islam.  [2]

The Ruler and The Subjects

Allah, The Exalted, said:

Verily! Allah commands that you should render back the trusts to those, to whom they are due; and that when you judge between men, you judge with justice. Verily, how excellent is the teaching which He (Allah) gives you! Truly, Allah is Ever All-Hearer, All-Seer. O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad), and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority. (And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if you believe in Allah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination. [Surah An-Nisaa. Aayaat 58-59]

Imam Muhammad Ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

The scholars say that the first verse was revealed regarding the rulers – that it is obligated on them to render back the trusts to those whom they are due and that when they judge between the people they do so with justice. And the second verse was revealed regarding those under the ruler’s authority, the armies and other than them- that it is obligated on them to obey the rulers who establish justice in their distributions, rulings, military expeditions and other affairs, except when they command one to commit an act of disobedience to Allah, because there cannot be obedience to the creation in disobedience to Allah. And if they differ in any matter, they should return to the book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger. If the rulers do not do this, then they are only obeyed in that which is in agreement with obedience to Allah and His Messenger, their rights are fulfilled just as Allah and His Messenger commanded and they are aided in righteousness and piety, but not in sin and transgression”. [3]

Siyaasah: Siyaasah means to regulate the affairs of the citizens. It has jurisdiction over the individual’s behaviour and the society as a whole. It involves Islamic jurisprudence through which the rulers are facilitated with knowledge and understanding of the rulings related to looking after the affairs of the state, its set-ups and Shariah principles. [4]

The Discourse Surrounding The Terms Islamist, Fundamentalism etc

In the discourse surrounding the terms “Islamist” and “Islamic Fundamentalism,” some ideologues, demagogues, and provocateurs have crafted their own interpretations. They define an “Islamist” as someone who possesses a profound belief in Islam, particularly one who advocates for the influence of Islam on political frameworks, or proponents of Islamic militancy or radicalism. This characterisation, however, is a blend of both truth and falsehood. If we accept that an “Islamist,” as per these narratives, is an individual who ardently believes in Islam and seeks its integration into governance, such a conviction is indeed commendable in the Sight of Allah. Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Madkhalee, may Allah safeguard him, stated:

Whoever Allah wishes good for, He grants him understanding of the religion. When this understanding in the religion is mentioned to the people, they understand it to mean the books of Islamic jurisprudence [i.e. the books that discuss the rulings related to prayer, zakat, fasting, marriage etc]. This is a deficient understanding. Fiqh (understanding) – first and foremost – is the understanding of the (sound) creed and Tawheed (i.e. sound Islamic monotheism). This is the highest level of Fiqh because the nobility of knowledge is judged based on the nobility of its subject matter. The best and noblest subject matter is Tawheed, which teaches the people about the Attributes of their Lord and the perfection of His Attributes, about His Oneness, to worship Him (alone) and sincerely establish the religion for His Sake. Therefore, we seek understanding of Tawheed from Allaah’s Book, the (authentic) Sunnah of Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and from the understanding of our pious predecessors. We seek understanding in all areas of (Shariah) knowledge – understanding of halal and haram, acts of worship, mutual dealings, sound Islamic politics, economics and in every affair. All these affairs – and all praise and thanks be to Allah – are extensively (found) in the (message) brought by Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. When Fiqh is mentioned, its intended (meaning includes) understanding of every affair that is connected to our religious and worldly affairs, and the foremost of them is the knowledge of Tawheed [Islamic Monotheism]. There is nothing that can do without the knowledge of Tawheed. [5]

However, the crux of the issue lies in their manipulation of terminology for the sake of ideological conflicts, leading to a lack of consistency in their discourse on these issues. This inconsistency often serves their ulterior motives of deception and defamation. On the other hand,  when it aligns with their political ambitions, they label these same people they used to label Islamists as freedom fighters, a tactic observed in regions like Libya and beyond. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us to follow the Shariah definitions articulated by the Salafi Scholars, ensuring a thorough understanding rather than merely echoing the terminology employed by the ideologues who utilise them for their ideological wars.

In the second instance, when these ideologues define the term ‘Islamist’ as equivalent to militancy, radicalism, or terrorism, it is imperative to clarify that no negative connotations should be ascribed to Islam itself. Instead, such actions are predominantly linked to the khawarij and those influenced by their ideologies. It is widely acknowledged that these groups—regardless of whether they are labeled as Islamists or deemed freedom fighters by ideologues when it serves their interests in inciting rebellion against Muslim leaders—distort the teachings of Shariah to pursue their own corrupt objectives. Listen here: https://video.link/w/tr4U [Refer to Footnote b]

As for the term ‘Islamic Fundamentalism’, it often sparks considerable debate among individuals regarding its interpretation. However, it is commonly understood by those who employ it to signify a rigorous adherence to the teachings of the Qur’an and the Shari’ah (Islamic Law). Thus, if this is the connotation that the ideologues associate with ‘Fundamentalism,’ then it is indeed in alignment with the truth if free from exaggeration and negligence. Allah said:

But no, by your Lord, they can have no Faith, until they make you (O Muhammad) judge in all disputes between them, and find in themselves no resistance against your decisions, and accept (them) with full submission. [An-Nisaa. 65]

Narrated Abu Musa, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

My example, and the example of what I have been sent with is that of a man who came to some people and said, O people! I have seen the enemy’s army with my own eyes and I am a plain warner; so protect yourselves!’ Then a group of his people obeyed him and fled at night proceeding stealthily till they were safe, while another group of them disbelieved him and stayed at their places till morning when the army came upon them and killed and ruined them completely. So this is the example of that person who obeys me and follows that truth which I have brought (the Qur’an and the Sunnah), and the example of the one who disobeys me and disbelieves the Truth I have brought”. [Sahih Al-Bukhari. 7283]

Thus, should the ideologues refer to ‘Fundamentalism’ in a manner that aligns with authentic path based on the Qur’ans Sunnah as understood and implemented by the Prophet’s companions, it is indeed commendable. However, if their intention is to denote those who promote violence, then such actions are reminiscent of the kharijites—those who deviate from true teachings, akin to the terrorists and innovators represented by groups like ISIS, Al-Qa’idah, Jabhat An-Nusra, and their counterparts. The principles of sound Islamic methodology shine with the clarity of the midday sun. Those who assert adherence to this methodology, regardless of their stature, are meticulously examined by senior Salafi scholars and their distinguished students. Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Madkhali, may Allah preserve him, said:

All of you hold onto the Rope of Allah [i.e. The Qur’an and authentic Sunnah]- Allah will aid you in this and make you like the sun; return to the understanding of the righteous predecessors, and it is, as I said to you, transmitted (and established) in your presence. This is a challenge to those who oppose this. We are challenging ahlul bidah wal ahwaa [the proponents of innovation in religious affairs and followers of desires] in their creed and politics. We say, between us and you is the (path, understanding of the) pious predecessors and books (of the pious predecessors). Ahmad [i.e. Imam Ahmad] used to say to the proponents of innovation in religious affairs, “Between us and you are the funerals (i.e. whose funeral will be attended by ahlus sunnah in great numbers)”. We say (i.e. at present), “Between us and you are the books (of the pious predecessors)- the books are present!

Allah said to His Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him:

قل فَأْتُوا بِالتَّوْرَاةِ فَاتْلُوهَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

All food was lawful to the Children of Israel, except what Israel made unlawful for himself before the Taurat (Torah) was revealed. Say (O Muhammad ): “Bring here the Taurat (Torah) and recite it, if you are truthful.

So they bring the Torah and you proof them to be upon falsehood. We bring the books of the pious predecessors – the Qur’an, the Sunnah, the books of Al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawood, at-Tirmidhi, an-Nasaa’ee, and what was authored by Ahmad and others; we bring them (to prove) those who are on the path of these (pious predecessors) and those who turn away and oppose them. Just as Allaah challenged the Jews to bring the Torah, so the Torah was brought and they were exposed them, (likewise), we challenge these people to bring the books of the pious predecessors, so that the innovator in religious affairs is exposed, and to clarify who the deviants are- whether us or them? Are they able to challenge? Can they open their mouths like this? We fill our mouths with courage – challenge everyone who says that we are upon other than methodology of the pious predecessors. We, by Allaah, call to the methodology of the pious predecessors- to the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of Allaah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him. We use the book of Allah and the Sunnah as proof for our beliefs, our acts of worship, dealings with rulers and their subjects, in dealing with the groups and sects. As for the others, they are upon tricks, deception etc By Allaah, you will not find with them anything but tricks and manipulating the emotions of youth”. [6]

With this, we are not easily manipulated through the convient utilisation of any term by the media, the ideologues, demogogues and rabble-rousers.

[2] Notification to Ahlul Bidah and Mumayyi’ah: These Clarifications Are Coming Back!

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Madkhalee, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

By Allah! Islam and the Muslims are not ruined except by these categories of (people) amongst the people of bidah and misguidance- the khawarij and those similar to them, and those who are worse, such as the rawaafid. The rawaafid are worse than the khawarij, and Ikhwaan al-Muslimoon (i.e. the sect -the Muslim brotherhood in Egypt and elsewhere) ally with them and they say: “They (rawaafid) are our brothers; the differing between us and them is like the differing between (Imaam) Maalik and (Imaam) Shaafi’ee” meaning: “The differing between us (i.e. Ikhwaan Muslimoon) and them (i.e. rawaafid shiites) is based on ijtihad, and if Imaam (Maalik) and (Imaam) Shafee’ee differ in (some) affairs, they are all rewarded; and if we (ikhwaan al-muslimoon) differ with the rawaafid shiites, then us and them are rewarded”.

O deceivers! The rawaafid (shiites) revile the Sahaabah and declare them disbelievers; they revile the wives of the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him; they say that the Qur’an is distorted; they have shir’kiyyaat (beliefs and acts of major polytheism) and they deify the leaders of the Prophet’s family. So does all of this not harm them (i.e. harm their claim to Islam)? Is this not irjaa?! (i.e. O Ikhwaanis! Is this alliance of yours with the rawaafid and that the differing between you and them is like the differing between Imaams Maalik and Shaafi’ee not Ir’jaa?!) [Adh-Dhari’ah 1/162]

Al-Allamah Salih Al-Fawzaan, may Allah preserve him, stated:

The wars that take place between the Muslims and the splitting are only brought about by the people of desires, such as the Khawaarij, the Mutazilah and other than them! The people of desires are the ones who cause the fitnah—the Mutazilah, the khawaarij, the Rawaafid (Shiites) and other than them. Fitnah does not occur except from them and as a result of them. Who murdered Uthmaan (radiyallaahu-anhu)? Who murdered Ali (radiyallaahu-anahu)? Who were the ones that ignited the fitnah between the Muslims thereafter? It was no one else other than those people of desires. Who misled Al-Mamoon and those rulers who came after him to put Ahlus Sunnah to trial, until their Imaam Ahmad Bin Hanbal (rahimahullaah) was beaten and imprisoned? It was no one else other than the people of desires. Who brought about the imprisonment of Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) until he died in prison? It was no one else other than those people of desires! It is upon us to be cautious of these people because the end result of their fitnah leads to the splitting of the unity of the Muslims, rebellion against the Muslim rulers and splitting the Jamaa-ah of the Muslims, so that they become divergent groups and parties, which is the opposite of being one united Ummah. Paraphrased… listen to audio on this link: https://salafidawahmanchester.com/2016/02/reminder-ahlul-ahwaa-i-e-the-people-of-bidah-are-the-ones-who-start-the-wars/

Shaikh Shamsuddeen Al-Afghaanee, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

Ahlul Bidah are the ones who kindle trials and disorder.  They are a chaotic people and are deprived of safety and security.  They are a people of trials and disturbance as opposed to Ahlul Hadeeth Was-Sunan (i.e. those who steadfastly follow the ahaadeeth of the Prophet and his Sunnah). Have they (i.e. the people of Sunnah) committed what the people of bidah and trials have committed?! The people of bidah trespass- alongside enmity and innovation- whilst Ahlus Sunnah respond and defend (the religion).
