This is why shaytan hates the love, harmony and patience between you and your wife!

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessing of Allaah be upon him, said, “There is Sadaqah (charity) to be given for every joint of the human body (as a sign of gratitude to Allah) every day the sun rises. To judge justly between two persons is regarded as Sadaqah, and to help man concerning his riding animal by helping him to ride it or by lifting his luggage on to it, is also regarded as Sadaqah, and (saying) a good word is also Sadaqah, and every step taken on one’s way to offer the compulsory congregational prayer is also Sadaqah, and to remove a harmful thing from the way is also Sadaqah”. [Al-Bukhari 2989]

In his explanation of this hadith, Al-Allamah Salih Al-Fawzan, may Allah preserve him, said:

Therefore, a person should not leave the people in dispute; rather it is incumbent upon him to be eager to bring about conciliation between disputing parties, especially relatives. As for some people-and Allah’s Protection is sought, they only bring into disputes that which will increase it. This type of person is a Shaytan. Also the one who seeks to bring about conciliation between the people should do that with justice; he should not oppress any of them or judge based on desires. [1]

Narrated Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, that Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “Iblis places his throne upon water; he then sends detachments [for creating dissension]; the nearer to him in rank are those who are most notorious in creating dissension. One of them comes and says: ‘I did such and such’. He says: ‘You have done nothing’. Then one amongst them comes and says: ‘I did not spare so and so until I sowed the seed of discord between a husband and a wife’. The Satan goes near him and says: ‘You have done well’. Al A’mash said: ‘He then embraces him'”. [Sahih Muslim. 2813]

Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: And because of the fact that this bond (between husband and wife) is one of the most beloved to Allaah and His Messenger, it is one of the most hated to the enemy of Allah [i.e. shaytaan]. Thus, he hastens to split two people who love one another for the sake of Allah. [2]

Supplication for or against the people of Bidah – Clarification of a Senior Scholar

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Supplication for or against the people of Bidah – By Al Allamah Ubaid Al-Jabiri, may Allah have mercy upon him.

Question: May Allah bless you, our Shaikh. This is the seventh question from Saudi Arabia. What is the ruling on making Du’aa for the guidance of those who call to Bidah and Fitan, including the Khawarij, concerning the misguidance they are in?

Response: Those who smake du’aa for them have Salaf (a precedent or basis) for doing so; however, the people of Bidah fall into two groups:

A group who are callers to their Bidah, having loyalty and enmity in that. They exert every effort to attack the people of the Sunnah based on lies, falsehood, and slander. Therefore, whoever makes Du’aa against them to be annihilated, eradicated, and for their efforts to be frustrated, and their plots to be repelled against them, he has a precedent. And whoever makes Du’aa for their guidance, I hold that it should be done in a restricted manner, saying: “O Allah! The one among these people who possses goodness, hasten guidance for him and bring him back to You in a beautiful manner. And for the one does not possess goodness, suffice us against him through whatever way You wish”.

The matter does not reach the level of severe reproach, such that the one who makes Du’aa for their guidance is reprimanded, as if they have committed a grave evil or spoken falsehood, contrary to the first (stance), which is to make Du’aa for them in a restricted manner, saying: O Allah! The one among them who possess goodness, hasten their guidance, and for those who do not possess goodness, suffice us with whatever You will”.

One might say, “O Allah! Show us through them the wonders of Your power in them, and make them a lesson for those who take heed.” Na’am (surely), some callers to Bidah display enmity, hatred and attack against the people of the Sunnah, especially the Khawarij among them. If I wished, I could mention their names, but they are well-known, the leaders of the revolutionary thought that began in the year 1411 are well-know. In reality, these people I make Du’aa against them that Allah destroys their plots, frustrates their efforts, show Ahlus Sunnah a lesson through them, and make them a lesson for those who reflect. However, I do not reprimand those who oppose me and make Du’aa for their guidance; I do not reprimand them, as the Prophet – peace and blessings of Allah be upon him – made Du’aa for the guidance of the unbelievers.

Reflections on some statements of Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Madkhali 86

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

O brothers! I warn you against harbouring intentions of seeking after the Dunyah, its status and authority in the affair of learning and seeking knowledge, because indeed (knowledge of the religion) is worship – amongst the best types of worship; rather the religion, acts of worship, Jihad (1) and a (successful) life cannot be established except by way of this knowledge. However, it is obligated on us to purify our intentions in this worship. “Whoever seeks knowledge by which the pleasure of Allah is sought, but he only acquires it for worldly gain, he will not smell the fragrance of Paradise”.

This is a very important point and a great affair which the students of knowledge must be notified, for indeed many of them are heedless of it. And it may be that a person seeks knowledge for the sake of worldly gain or other goals that are not beloved to Allaah -neither legislated nor permitted by Allaah, and thus they fall into destruction. This affair enters into the rebuke directed at the Yahud.

The likeness of those who were entrusted with the (obligation of the) Taurat (Torah) (i.e. to obey its commandments and to practise its legal laws), but who subsequently failed in those (obligations), is as the likeness of a donkey who carries huge burdens of books (but understands nothing from them). How bad is the example (or the likeness) of people who deny the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah. And Allah guides not the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers, etc.).

I seek the protection (of Allaah) for myself and you from these blameworthy traits – a person possesses knowledge and does not act upon it, so he is either included (amongst those mentioned in this) Aayah or some of it applies to him. May Allaah protect us and you, for indeed the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, informed us about the destination of those who perform acts of worship only to be seen, whether it is a student of knowledge, a scholar, a Mujahid or one who spends his wealth.

O my brothers! Sincerity is a great affair. It is incumbent upon a Muslim to guard it and take himself to account at every moment of his life. One of the Salaf said, “I used to hold that the hadith requires a Niyyah [i.e. sincere intention for seeking knowledge of hadith], but then I realised that every hadeeth requires a (sincere) intention”. Therefore, when you narrate or speak, do you desire praise from the people or do you desire the Face of Allah, The Blessed and Exalted? Do you desire that it is said, “He is a scholar; he is intelligent; he is a learned person of sound, precise and robust understanding” or do you desire the Face of Allaah and to fulfil the responsibility you carry (i.e. knowledge of the religion).

Ahlus Sunnah Cry Out of Sadness

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Ahlus Sunnah Cry Out of Sadness When The Upright Inheritors of The Prophets Pass Away, So, Do Not Add To Their Sadness With Bad Words

Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: Crying is different types: Crying out of mercy and compassion. Crying out of fear and awe. Crying out of love and longing. Crying out of joy and happiness. Crying out of panic due to the arrival of something painful and unbearable. Crying out of sadness.

The difference between crying out of sadness and crying out of fear: Crying out of sadness is for what has passed of a calamity or the loss of a beloved one. Crying out of fear is for what is expected in the future of that. The difference between crying out of joy and crying out of sadness: Tears of joy are cold and the heart is happy. Tears of sadness are warm and the heart is sad.

Crying out of weakness and vulnerability. Crying out of hypocrisy, when the eyes tear up but the heart is hard, so the person appears to be pious while having one of the hardest hearts.

Borrowed crying, like the crying of a professional mourner for a fee, as Umar ibn Al-Khattab said: “She sells her emotions and cries for the pain of others.”

Crying out of conformity, when a person sees others crying for something that has happened to them, so he cries with them without knowing what they are crying for, but he sees them crying and cries with them. [Zaad Al-Ma’aad (1/184, 185)]

The individual who does not experience a sense of loss following the departure of scholars, particularly after the loss of Al-Allamah Ubaid and Al-Allamah Rabee, may Allah have mercy on them and all the scholars of Ahlus Sunnah who have passed, as well as grant mercy to our parents, either does not comprehend the significance of the scholars or has not gained from their guidance. Since 1995, we have learned about numerous scholars, but Al-Allamah Rabee, may Allah have mercy on him, was specifically highlighted to us for his stance against those who conspire against the authentic Salafi methodology. May Allah bestow upon him abundant mercy and grant him a noble entrance. May Allah bless his descendants and make them righteous. Furthermore, one who does not express gratitude to people will not be grateful to Allah; thus, we extend our thanks to our elder brothers at Salafipublications, who were among the first to introduce us to the works of Al-Allamah Rabee, including elder brothers like Shaikh Abu Talhah, may Allah have mercy on him, and Shaikh Abu Iyaad, may Allah preserve him, through their numerous articles that elucidated the Manhaj during a time when Qutubiyyah, Sururiyyah, Ikhwanis, Salman, Safar, and other misguided personalities were prevalent and promoted by the Hizbiyyoon in the UK. Additionally, may Allah bless all the other teachers at Salafipublications who have also contributed and continue to contribute through their lessons and clarifications based on the works of the senior scholars. May Allah keep us steadfast upon Salafiyyah until we meet Him. Amin.

Reflections on some statements of Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Madkhali 85

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower.

The Shaikh, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

The Reality of Du’aa in the Qur’an

Allah, The Exalted, said:

هُنَالِكَ دَعَا زَكَرِيَّا رَبَّهُۥ قَالَ رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِن لَّدُنكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ ٱلدُّعَآءِ

At that time Zakariya (Zachariya) invoked his Lord, saying: “O my Lord! Grant me from You, a good offspring. You are indeed the All-Hearer of invocation.” [Sal Imran 38]

Allah, The Exalted, also said about Zakariyyah:

When he called out his Lord (Allah) a call in secret, saying: “My Lord! Indeed my bones have grown feeble, and grey hair has spread on my head, And I have never been unblest in my invocation to You, O my Lord! And Verily! I fear my relatives after me, since my wife is barren. So give me from Yourself an heir”. [Maryam 3-5]

The supplication mentioned in Aal-Imran is referred to here as a call, and the call is interpreted in Surah Maryam as a request for a child.

The reality of Du’aa in the Sunnah

Narrated Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “When one of you makes supplication, he should not say: ‘O Allah! Forgive me if you wish’, instead he should have conviction in his request and have great fervent desire (to receive what he is asking for) because there is nothing so great to Allah which He cannot grant”. (Sahih Muslim 2679)

What a servant seeks from his Lord is referred to as Du’aa (supplication), Mas’alah (request) and Raghbah (fervent desire for something), which aligns with the statements of the scholars of the Arabic language.

Narrated from him (Abu Huraira) who said that Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “The supplication of every one of you is granted as long as he does not grow impatient (or hasty)’. It was said, ‘And how does one become impatient (or hasty) O Allah’s Messenger?’ He said, ‘(When) one says, ‘I supplicated but it was not granted'”. (Sahih Ibn Majah 635)

The prophetic narrations, the writings of scholars and compilations of hadith regarding (the meaning of) supplication is something which a person cannot fully encompassed. Nevertheless, when the common people hear the term ‘Du’aa’, nothing comes to their minds except this reality: a call, a request, and seeking.

After the reality of supplication is established and understood in light of the Quran, the Sunnah, the Arabic language, and the circumstances of people, Allah, the Exalted, has commanded us to supplicate to Him and prohibited us from supplicating to others.

He, The Exalted, said:

Invoke your Lord with humility and in secret. He likes not the aggressors. And do not do mischief on the earth, after it has been set in order, and invoke Him with fear and hope; Surely, Allah’s Mercy is (ever) near unto the good-doers. (Al-A’raf 55-56)

Allah commanded us to invoke Him and has taught us the etiquette of supplication, which is hoped to lead to a response, namely: Humility, Secretly, Fear, and Hope.

One of the treasures of Paradise

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Abu Musa Al-Ash’aree, may Allah be pleased with him, said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to me, “O Abdullah Bin Qais! Shall I tell you a word which is one of the treasures of Paradise? It is

“There is neither might nor power (to alternate from one state to another nor move from one thing to another) except by Allaah’s Will” . [Al-Bukhari 6384 & Muslim 2704]

One of the treasures of paradise“. Meaning, its reward is great and that is paradise; and Paradise is the greatest thing sought after. This shows the virtue of the statement Laa “Hawla Walaa Quwwata illaa Billah”. why does it carry this reward? This is because it necessitates surrendering all of one’s affairs to Allah, manifesting one’s inability and poverty in the presence of Allah, and that indeed Allah is The One Perfect in Strength and The One Fully Able to do all things. It is a great statement, easy to utter and repeat on the tongue. [1]

Sulayman Bin Yasaar, may Allah have mercy upon him, reported that a people were on a journey, then they said before departing:

سُـبْحانَ الَّذي سَخَّـرَ لَنا هذا وَما كُنّا لَهُ مُقْـرِنين
وَإِنّا إِلى رَبِّنـا لَمُنْقَـلِبون

“Glory to Him who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts). And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return”. A man among them, who possessed a strong she-camel, said, “As for me, I shall indeed arrive at night using this sturdy she-camel.” However, the camel threw him off, resulting in a broken neck. [2]

Reminder

Allah, The Most High, said:

In order that you may mount on their backs, and then may remember the Favour of your Lord when you mount thereon, and say: “Glory to Him Who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts).  And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return!” [Az-Zukhruf. 13-14]

Mentioned are the three pillars of gratitude and they are:

To acknowledge Allah’s blessings, proclaim Allah’s blessings, praise Allah for them, submit to Allah and utilise them to carry out acts of worship for the sake of Allah (alone). This is because the intent behind the statement of Allah:

وَإِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ

“And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return” is an acknowledgement of recompense and being prepared for it.

The objective behind these favours is that they are an aid through which a person fulfils that which Allah has commanded him.

And regarding Allah’s statement:

ثُمَّ تَذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ رَبِّكُمْ إِذَا اسْتَوَيْتُمْ

“And then may remember the favour of your Lord when you mount thereon”.

This is a specific mention of the (favour) at the time in (which the person enjoys those favours) because blessings intoxicates many amongst the creation, makes them heedless, evil and ungrateful. Thus, this state in which Allah commanded (a person to remember Him for His Favours) is a remedy for this destructive ailment. When the servant of Allah recalls that he is completely surrounded by Allah’s blessings and that nothing is from himself, but rather blessings are (from Allah), -lits means are facilitated and its obtainment made easy (by Allah), he submits to Allah, humbles himself, thanks and praises Allah, and through this he is given continuous blessings. No double standards or favoritism when asking others to hold their tongue!

The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

No double standards or favoritism when asking others to hold their tongue! Everyone, no matter their religious or social status, should be addressed when needed

Allah said:

And indeed We have created man, and We know what his ownself whispers to him. And We are nearer to him than his jugular vein (by Our Knowledge). (Remember!) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being after he or she has attained the age of puberty), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions). Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it). [50:16-18]

Allah informed us that He alone created humans -males and females- and He knows all their state of affairs. He knows everything that is hidden about them and what their souls whisper to them. Allah is nearer to them than their jugular veins by His knowledge, even though the jugular vein is the closest thing to the human. Therefore, this should make the human being mindful of Allah -the One Who knows all the hidden affairs in the soul and heart of the human being in all circumstances. This should also make the human being shy in the presence of Allah so that he (she) is not seen committing what Allah has forbidden or abandoning what Allah has commanded. [An Excerpt from ‘Tafsir As-Sadi]

Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, “When the son of Adam wakes up in the morning, all the limbs humble themselves before the tongue and say, ‘Fear Allah for our sake, (for) we are with you; if you are upright, we will be upright; and if you are crooked, we will become crooked’”. [1]

Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “Whoever can guarantee (the chastity of) what is between his two jaw bones and what is between his two legs (i.e. his mouth, his tongue, and his private parts), I guarantee Paradise for him.” [2]

Al-Fudayl Ibn Iyad, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: “Neither hajj nor taking up positions during battle, nor Jihad is more difficult than restraining the tongue”. [3]

Abdullah Ibn Tawus, may Allah have mercy upon him,  said: Tawus, may Allah have mercy upon him, used to find it difficult to speak for a very long time, and he would say: “I examined my tongue and found it to be malicious”. [4]

Al-Fudayl Ibn Iyad, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: “Some of our companions used to guard their speech from one Jumu’ah to another Jumu’ah.” [5]

It was said to one of the scholars may Allah have mercy upon him,  “Indeed, you do keep quiet for a long time!” He said: “Indeed, I consider my tongue as a wild voracious animal. I fear that if I let it loose, it will hurt me.” [6]

It is said that a man argued with Al-Ahnaf Ibn Qays- may Allah have mercy upon both of them- and said: “If you say one, you will hear ten.” Al-Ahnaf replied: “But if you say ten, you will not hear one!” [7]

Ziyad Ibn Yunus, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: “By Allah, Malik, may Allah have mercy upon him, was the greatest of people in terms of honourabe behaviour, and the one who kept silent the most. When he sat down, he would not get up until he had to, and I saw him as someone who was often silent, spoke little, and guarded his tongue”. Ibn Al-Mubarak said: “Malik was the most patient in dealing with people, and he would leave what did not concern him”. [8]

Al-Hasan Bin Salih, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: “I scrutinised Al-Wara (the fear of Allah that makes one refrain from doubtful matters in order not to fall into haram) and did not find it more lacking in anything than the tongue”. [9]

Yunus Ibn Ubayd, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: “Indeed, you see a man fasting a lot, abstaining from the forbidden deeds and praying the night prayer, whilst he testifies to falsehood in the morning.”  [10]

Ibnul Mubaarak, may Allah have mercy upon him, was asked about the statement of Luqmaan, peace be upon him, to his son: ‘’If speech is from silver, then silence is from gold.” So he said: ‘’It means that if speech in obedience to Allah is from silver, then silence (to refrain from) disobedience to Allah is gold’’. Chapters from The Life of Shaikh Rabee- Excerpts From a Forthcoming Publication

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

We praise and thank Allah for guiding us to this blessed Salafi Methodology and acquainting us with its scholars in the Muslim lands and their students in the East and the West. To proceed:

When our brother Amjad Khan, may Allah preserve him, visited Kuwait before, he received permission from Shaikh Khalid, may Allah preserve him, to translate this amazing biography of Al-Allamah Rabee Ibn Hadi Al-Mad’khali – may Allah preserve him. Upon receiving this news, we informed Ustadh Abu Tasneem Mushaf Al-Banghali, may Allah preserve him, and some of our elder teachers. By the Tawfeeq of Allah, there are chapters filled with gems that have already been translated and waiting to be edited, then excerpts will be shared online while the book form is prepared. As soon as all the material is ready for formatting, it will be presented to both Shaikh Khalid and our local Mashaayikh, may Allah preserve them, to offer advice and guidance, then Salafipublications will be requested to publish it after being satisfied with it. May Allah bless all our younger teachers and Salafi brothers, especially those who have come forward to help with the editing and proofreading of the translation and preparation due to their love of cooperation upon Bir and Taqwah. This schedule publication is nearing completion, and with the help and guidance of Allah, it will be finalised within a month. We express our gratitude to Shaikh Khalid for his patience and understanding regarding our very slow progress on this valuable biography as we approach its conclusion. May Allah bless him and all our other Mashayikh in both the East and the West who enlighten us about the virtues of the senior scholars of the Ummah.

A Noteworthy Incident Involving Salih, His Father, Imam Ahmad, and Dawud Ibn Ali Al-Asbahani

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Dawud Ibn Ali al-Isfahani approached Salih Ibn Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, with whom he had a good relationship. He requested Salih to kindly seek permission for him to visit his father. Salih then went to his father- (Imam Ahmad)- and said: “A man has asked me to come to you.” He (Imam Ahmad) said: “What is his name?” He (Salih) said: “Dawud”. He said: “Where is he from?” He (Salih) said: “He is from the people of Isfahan”. He said: “Has he done anything (i.e. involved in anything wrong)?” Salih hesitated, thus Abu Abdillah (Imam Ahmad) did not cease scrutinising until he realised (who this Dawud is). Then he said: “Muhammad Ibn Yahyah An-Naysaabooree wrote to me concerning the affair of this one (i.e. Dawud) that he claims that the Quran came into existence (created), [a] so he should not come near me (i.e. should not come to me).” Salih said: “O My father! He has disclaimed and rejected this (statement or claim)”. Abu Abdillah (Imam Ahmad) said: “Muhammad Ibn Yahya is more truthful than him; do not grant him permission to approach me”. [1]

Some of the Characteristics of Ahlul Hadith – 1

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Al-Hakim, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal, may Allah have mercy upon him, excelled in interpreting this report that Ahlul Hadith ‘the adherents to the hadith in belief, acts of worship and sound methodology’ are the Ta’ifah Al-Mansurah ‘The Victorious Group’ from whom being forsaken (by Allah) is removed until the Day of Judgment. Who could be more deserving of this interpretation (being applied to them) than a people who follow the path of the righteous, adhere to the footsteps of the Salaf ‘first three generations of Pious’ predecessors, subdue Ahlul Bidah ‘the followers or proponents of innovated beliefs, acts of worship or methodologies in the religion’ and opponents of the Sunan of Allah’s  Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him and his family.
