[6.1] Unveiling -For Blind Abu Makkah- Reality Behind Proclamation, “Such and Such Has Not Been Given Tawfeeq In The Pursuit of Knowledge”

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim [may Allah have mercy upon him] said:

The loftiest ambition in seeking knowledge is to acquire knowledge of the Qur’an and the Sunnah- to be granted understanding by Allah (i.e. to be granted Tawfeeq to acquire sound knowledge) and through the Sunnah of the Messenger, and to familiarise oneself with the boundaries of the revelation (i.e. not going into excess or being lax in its rulings). And the most pointless ambition of knowledge seekers is to confine their ambitions to following strange issues and what has neither occurred nor been revealed; or familiarising oneself with the variations in viewpoint and exploring the statements of the scholars, without aiming to learn which of those statements is correct. Little is there to benefit from the knowledge of these people. (1)

To begin, take great attention to Imaam Ibn Al-Qayyim’s comment regarding one of the signs of a lack of lofty ambition in the path of knowledge, which is “familiarising oneself with the variations in viewpoint and exploring the statements of the scholars, without aiming to learn which of those statements is correct. Little is there to benefit from the knowledge of these people”.

Without a doubt, Abu Makkah and his allies have shown a lack of lofty ambition in the Fitna of Dr Muhammad Bin Haadi because they have no evidence to support their defence of him, just as Dr Muhammad lacks evidence to support his false Tabdee. However, they have wilfully chosen extremism and stubbornness in this matter over sound evidence and humility, clinging to flimsy claims and desperately searching for lame excuses to persist upon error. Second, Abu Makkah should focus on one of those very matters that a seeker of knowledge must always keep in mind, rather than futilely attempting to demonstrate if Shaikh Abu Khadeejah has been given Tawfeeq in the path of knowledge. Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saalih Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: If one asks, “How can sincerity in the pursuit of knowledge be (attained)?” We say: Sincerity in seeking knowledge can be attained by making an intention for the following:

To fulfil Allah’s command because Allah [The Exalted] commanded it (i.e. to seek knowledge). Allah said: [فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنبِكَ- So know (O Muhammad) that La ilaha ill-Allah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah), and ask forgiveness for your sin. (Surah Muhammad Ayah19)] Therefore, Allah [Glorified and Exalted be He] strongly urged (a person) to acquire knowledge, because strongly encouraging something entails having love for it, being pleased with it, and commanding it.

To preserve Allah’s Shariah because preserving Allah’s Shariah can be accomplished through learning, memorisation, and writing.

To protect and defend the Shariah because without scholars, no one would have protected or defended Shariah. As a result, we see people of knowledge such as Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah and others repelling ahlul bidah and exposing the fallacy of their innovations (in religious practice). We can see that they accomplished a lot of good.

To follow Muhammad’s Shariah because you cannot follow his Shariah until you learn about it. (2)

Third, Abu Makkah and his associates must remember that even if one has a lot of knowledge, one must also be trustworthy. Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-Uthaymeen [may Allah have mercy upon him], “We add trustworthiness as an additional characteristic alongside competence since competence is a strength that must be accompanied by trustworthiness. Allah said:

Indeed, the best one you can hire is the strong and the trustworthy.

[Surah Al-Qasas. Ayah 26]

A scholar may be proficient and vast in knowledge, capable of deriving and explaining subsidiary issues from fundamental principles, as well as categorising, distinguishing, and placing various subject matters in their proper place, but he is not trustworthy and may misguide you from where you do not know. (3)

Indeed, Abu Makkah and his followers have no choice but to humble themselves and submit to the truth. However, there are dangers for those who are taken aback by their ideas or have ulterior objectives. We should all be wary of these perilous things that prevent humankind and Jinn from yielding to the truth. Imaam Ibn Al-Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy on him] gives the following reasons:

Ignorance: This reason is mostly what overwhelms the majority of people, for indeed the one who is ignorant of something will show enmity to it and its people. If in addition to this reason, (the person) hates the one who commands him to (follow) the truth, and harbours enmity and envy, then this (i.e. reason behind being prevented from accepting the truth) becomes more intense. If in addition to this, it (i.e. the truth) opposes the ones close to his heart, his customs, the one who nurtured him, the ways of his forefathers and the ones he loves and exalts, then this (i.e. the reason behind being prevented from accepting the truth) becomes even more intense. If in addition to this, he carries a wrong perception that the truth he is being called to (is an obstacle to) his status, honour, desires and goals, the (reason behind being prevented) from accepting the truth becomes very intense. If in addition to this, he fears his companions, his family and his people (i.e. due to the harm he anticipates) against himself, his wealth and his status – just as what happened to Heraclius, the king of the Christians in Shaam during the era of Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him], then the reason (behind being prevented from accepting the truth) increases even greater because indeed Heraclius knew the truth and he had the desire to accept Islam, but his people did not obey him, so he feared for himself and thus chose disbelief over Islaam after the guidance was made clear to him.

Envy: It is one of the greatest causes (behind being prevented from accepting the truth) because indeed it is an ingrained disease in the soul. The envier sees that the one he envies has been given virtue over him or has been given the likes of that which he has not been given; therefore this envy prevents him from complying with (the truth). Iblees was not prevented from prostrating to Adam [i.e. out of respect, when Allaah commanded him and the angels to do so], except out of envy, because when he saw that Aadam [peace be upon him] was given virtue and raised above him, he chose disbelief over Eemaan, even though he used to be in the company of the angels.

This disease is what prevented the Jews from believing in Eesaa the son of Maryam [peace be upon both him and his mother], even though they knew -without a doubt – that he was a Messenger of Allaah, who came with clear proofs and guidance, however, envy led them to choose disbelief over Eemaan and complied with it, even though they were a nation amongst whom were Rabbis, scholars, Zuhhaad [i.e. those who abstained from those lawful but unnecessary pleasures of the worldly life], judges, kings and rulers.

Fear of losing one’s status and prestige: Conversation between Abu Jahl and His Nephew Al-Musawwar Bin Makhzamah

Al-Musawwar Bin Makhzamah: ‘’O my uncle! Did you use to accuse Muhammad of lying before he started saying what he says now [i.e. his call to Tawheed]? Abu Jahl: “By Allaah, indeed Muhammad was a trustworthy young man amongst us and we have never experienced lying from him. Al-Musawwar Bin Makhzamah: “O my uncle! So why is it that you do not follow him?” Abu Jahl: “O son of my sister! We competed with Banu Haashim in nobility [i.e. which clan is more noble], so they used to feed [the pilgrims] and we used to feed the [pilgrims]; they used to provide water for [the pilgrims] and we used to provide water for [the pilgrims]; they used to give protection [to the destitute] and we used to give protection [to the destitute] until we were equal [i.e. in competing one another for nobility]. Then they said, “There is a Prophet from us”, so when are we going to get something similar to this!!

Conversation between Abu Jahl and Akhnas Bin Shuraiq

Akhnas Bin Shuraiq said to Abu Jahl on the day of Badr [i.e. the battle of Badr]: “O Abul Hakam! Inform me about Muhammad, as to whether he is a truthful person or a liar, for indeed there is no one here from Quraish who will hear our speech! Abu Jahl replied to Akhnas: “Woe to you! By Allaah, indeed Muhammad is a truthful person and Muhammad has never lied, but if Banu Qusay takes the leadership, the position of gatekeepers of the Kabah, providers of water for the pilgrims and Prophethood [i.e. the Prophet Muhammad is from their clan], then what will the rest of Quraish have?! (4)

Al-Allaamah Abdur Rahmaan Al-Mu’allimee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: To oppose desires – by way of action – for the sake of the truth is a manifest affair due to the obligation and difficulty it involves, and this can be viewed from different angles as follows: a person sees that by acknowledging the truth, it would necessitate that he has acknowledged that he was upon falsehood because a person is nurtured upon a religion, creed, school of thought or views, which he acquired from his nurturer and teacher, considers it to be the truth and followed it for a long time. Then when it becomes clear to him that (the religion, creed, view, or school of thought) is false, it becomes difficult for him to acknowledge, just like when his forefathers, ancestors or the one he follows are upon a (particular) way and its falsity is clarified for him because he sees that their deficiencies necessitate his own deficiencies, and an acknowledgement of their misguidance or errors necessitates his own.

It may be that clinging to falsehood gave him prestige, fame and a livelihood, so it becomes difficult for him to acknowledge that (what he is upon is) falsehood and thus all those benefits (i.e. the fame, prestige, livelihood etc) would disappear.

It may be that a person is upon ignorance or falsehood, then another person comes along and clarifies the proofs for him, so he sees that by acknowledging such proofs, it would necessitate that he is lacking (in understanding) and that it was that person who guided him. And due to this we find that it is not difficult for some of those attributed to knowledge to acknowledge their mistakes when it becomes manifest to them in their research and studies, but it becomes difficult for them if it was others who clarified such mistakes.

When another person clarifies the truth for him, he sees that acknowledging such truth would necessitate an acknowledgement of the clarifier’s virtue, knowledge and correctness due to that clarification, and thus that becomes great in the eyes of the people and many people follow him [i.e. the person who clarified the truth]. So you will find some of those attributed to knowledge being eager to prove the mistakes of other scholars even if that is done by way of falsehood due to envy and seeking to diminish their status amongst the people.

To oppose desires for the sake of the truth -in affairs of knowledge and creed- can indeed be difficult to accomplish, therefore it requires (sincere) research and contemplation. And in this regard, one needs to ask the scholars and benefit from them, adhering to the fear of Allah, and seeking the Tawfeeq of Allah and guidance. (5)

Al-Allaamah Abdur Rahmaan Bin Yahyah Al-Mu’allimee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] also stated: Ponder on the fact that truth is noble and falsehood is lowly. Ponder on the Greatness of Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic]- the fact that Allaah is the Lord of the entire universe, Allaah loves truth and hates falsehood, and that the one who follows truth is deserving of the Pleasure of the Lord of the universe. Allaah [Glorified be He] will be his protector in the worldly life and the Afterlife by choosing for him everything that is good, better, more beneficial, more perfect, more noble and loftier until Allaah removes his soul whilst being pleased with him. Then Allaah raises him, brings him close and makes him dwell in paradise with honour- in permanent bliss and eternal nobility which no imagination can fully conceive its greatness. He should ponder on the fact that the one who clings to falsehood is deserving of the displeasure, anger and punishment of the Lord of the universe, and if he receives anything of worldly bliss, then indeed that is only a means of humiliating him in order that he is increased in being distanced from Allaah so that the painful torment of the afterlife is multiplied for him, which no imagination can fully conceive its severity. He should ponder on the bliss of the worldly life [i.e. temporary] as compared to the pleasure of the Lord of the universe and the bliss in the afterlife [i.e. eternal], compare the misery of the worldly life to the displeasure of the Lord of the universe and the punishment in the afterlife [i.e. the severest punishment in this life is nowhere equal to punishment in the afterlife]. He should ponder on the statement of Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic]:

And they say: “Why is not this Qur’an sent down to some great man of the two towns (Makkah and Ta’if)?” Is it they who would portion out the Mercy of your Lord? It is We Who portion out between them their livelihood in this world, and We raised some of them above others in ranks, so that some may employ others in their work. But the Mercy (Paradise) of your Lord (O Muhammad) is better than the (wealth of this world) which they amass. And were it not that all mankind would have become of one community (all disbelievers, desiring worldly life only), We would have provided for those who disbelieve in the Most Beneficent (Allah), silver roofs for their houses, and elevators (and stair-ways, etc. of silver) whereby they ascend, and for their houses, doors (of silver), and thrones (of silver) on which they could recline, and adornments of gold. Yet all this (i.e. the roofs, doors, stairs, elevators, thrones etc. of their houses) would have been nothing but an enjoyment of this world. And the Hereafter with your Lord is only for the Muttaqun”. [Surah Az-Zuhkruf. Verses 31-35] (6)

We ask Allah:

O Allah! Rectify my religion for me, which is the safeguard of my affairs; rectify my worldly [affairs], wherein is my livelihood; and rectify my Afterlife to which is my return, and make life for me [as a means of] increase in every good and make death for me as a rest from every evil. [5] Uncovering Reality – For Blind Abu Makkah – Behind Sitting With Mashaayikh While Having Other Blameworthy Alliances!

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “A man is upon the religion of his best friend, so let one of you look at whom he befriends.” [At-Tirmidhī 2378]

Abu Makkah [may Allah guide] desperately tried to conceal the fact that Muhammad Abdur-Razzaaq [may Allah rectify his affair] sits with Mashaayikh like every other student, but his companionship in the UK is blameworthy, and no one can play hide and seek with this affair because we must all refer back to the sound principles that distinguish reality from delusion and ambiguity.

Al-Allaamah Ubaid Bin Abdillah Al-Jaabiri [may Allah have mercy upon him] said:

If a person’s affair is hidden from you, the one whose books and cassettes are well-known and whose popularity is widespread, then ask those who are well acquainted with him and his situation. Neither the Sunnah nor its adherents are hidden, and a man’s Tazkiyah is his own deeds – his Tazkiyah is his own deeds that he is an adherent to the Sunnah. It is the witness, and people refer to him with it both during his life and after his death.

There is none who hides behind the Sunnah, the people beguiled by him, gathered around him to learn, adhered to him, became dependent on him, and accepted everything he said, except that Allah will reveal his affair, uncover and expose his concealed state of affairs to specific individuals and the general public, regarding what was hidden and apparent of his deception, his mixing truth with falsehood, his plots and deceitful practices. Allah enables men of virtue, intelligence, wisdom, strength, and great natural ability–possessors of knowledge, skill, and good comprehension of the religion–through whom He reveals the affair of that trickster, dubious, and deceitful person. It is incumbent upon you to be careful of that person when his state is revealed–the one whose fame is widespread–as long as he was warned against by those of understanding and Imaan who follow the Sunnah because they will expose his affair with evidence.

Al-Allaamah Ubaid [may Allah have mercy upon him] also stated: It is not permitted for a person who is aware of a mistake and it is clear to him to blindly follow a scholar who is unaware of an affair. And, as you already know, scholars are not infallible in their Ijtihaadaat, therefore, it is not permissible to adopt them (i.e. the errors of the scholars) as a methodology.

Al-Allaamah Ubaid [may Allah have mercy upon him] also stated: “Some argue, ‘Such and such praised him–Al Albaanee, or Ibn Baaz, or Ibn Al-Uthaymeen praised this book’. However, these scholars are excused, rather, the trickster was hidden from the scholar. So, what is left? We establish the proof against this deceiver, trickster, intrigant, and plotter from his books. We establish the manifest clarifications against him from his books and say to the one who argues with us, “Take it, this is his speech.” Therefore, it is incumbent upon you to be fair and free of that passionate and fanatical attachment, as well as the desires that blind a person. (1)

Listen to Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi on this link about those who hide behind Mashaayikh and how their affair is unveiled. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWPR3Eacn4k

Therefore, we remind Abu Makkah that even though he desperately seeks to hide the reality and slanders one of our elder Salafi teachers, however, the truth must be uttered regardless of the harm received from him. Imam Muhammad Ibn Saalih Al-Uthaymeen [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “If there is a person who reviles the truth and rejoices because of his enmity against the one who acts upon the truth, then one should not be humble in the presence of this person; rather, one should humble himself to the truth and debates this man, even if he belittles or speaks against you, because the truth must be aided”. The People of Bidah On The Day of Aa’shooraa (Rawaafid, Nawaasib, and other Ignoramuses)

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Hishaam Bin Urwah [may Allah have mercy upon him] used to say, “Do not question the people about what they have innovated (in the religion) today because they have prepared answers for it; rather, question them about the Sunnah because they do not know it.” (1)

Ibn Aqeel [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “If the truthful ones were to keep silent and the falsifiers speak, then the creation would have relinquished what they have witnessed (of truth) and reject what they have not witnessed. So when the devout ones desire to revive the Sunnah, the people would reject it and think that it is bidah”. (1.1)

Shaikh Al Islam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allah have mercy upon him] was asked if there is any authentic hadeeth from the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] regarding what people do on the day of Aashooraa, such as applying kohl and Hena, shaking hands, taking a bath, preparing food such as barley and other grains, and manifesting happiness; if there are no authentic proofs, is this considered bidah or not? And do the deeds of the other group (i.e. the Raafidah Shiites) have a basis in the religion or not, such as mourning, showing grief, purposefully making oneself thirsty and scarring oneself, sobbing, reciting (poems), fainting as a result of that and slapping the face?

Response: All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the entire existence. There is no authentic hadeeth from the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] or his companions in this regard, and none of the Imams, including the four Imams (Abu Hanifah, Malik, Ahmad, and Shaafi’ee), have recommended it.  Neither the scholars who authored and collated the texts that are relied on for their authenticity nor the companions and their students reported anything authentic or weak regarding this from the Prophet, neither in the authentic books of hadith nor in the Sunan. The virtuous first three generations of Islam knew nothing about these reports; however, some of those who came after the first three virtuous generations of Islam have transmitted reports to this effect, such as “Whoever applies kohl on the day of Aashooraa will not be sore-eyed in that year.” “Whoever bathes on Aashooraa will not get sick that year.” They also transmitted reports that Adam’s repentance took place on the day of Aashooraa, the virtue of prayer on this day, and that it was the day Nuh’s ark landed on Mount Judi, the day Ya’qub was reunited with Yusuf, and the day Ibraaheem was saved from the fire, etc. They also transmitted fabricated reports and lies attributed to the Prophet saying, “Whoever gives to his family on the day of Aashooraa, Allah will give him throughout the year.” All of these reports are lies attributed to the Prophet. (2)

Then an ignorant and transgressive group arose, consisting of either disbelieving hypocrites or misguided individuals. They declared (so-called) allegiance to the Prophet’s household and observed Aashooraa as a day of mourning, misery, and wailing. They practice pre-Islamic ignorance-related deeds such as slapping the face, tearing their clothes, and calling to pre-Islamic ignorance-related slogans and disbelief. However, Allah and His Messenger instructed that when new disasters occur, (one) exercises patience, hopes for Allah’s reward, recalls one’s misdeeds, and repents, as Allah (The Most High) said:

But give glad tidings to As-Saabireen (the patient ones, etc.). Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: “Truly! To Allah, we belong and truly, to Him, we shall return.” They are those on whom are the Salaam (i.e. blessings, etc.) (i.e. who are blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are those who) receive His Mercy, and it is they who are the guided ones. [Soori Al-Baqarah: Ayaat 55-57]

And it has been reported in the Saheehayn (Bukhaari and Muslim) from the Prophet that he said, “He is not from us, he who slaps his cheeks, tears his clothes and calls to the slogans of the pre-Islamic period of ignorance” (3)

They also recite mournful poems and relate reports that are full of lies. And the truth in them merely renews their (exaggerated and mistaken way of grieving), bigoted allegiance, incitement to hatred and conflict, initiating trials between the people of Islam as a result of that, and reviling those who were first to enter Islam. Even an eloquent person cannot explain the evil of these people (i.e. the Raafidah) and their harm to the people of Islam. [Visit http://www.shia.bs/index.cfm ]

However, they (i.e. Raafidah) are opposed by another group of people who are either Nawaasib (footnote a) or ignoramuses, thus they confront corruption with corruption, lying with lies, evil with evil, and bidah with bidah. On the day of Aashooraa, they write poems conveying joy and happiness, apply kohl, dye their garments a different colour, spend extra on their families, and cook the food they do not normally cook. These people regard the day of Aashooraa as an occasion comparable to the days of celebration and happiness [i.e. the two Eids]. The Raafidah, on the other hand, observe it as a day of mourning, grief, and suffering [i.e. inflicting injuries on oneself]. In this matter, both groups are mistaken and have exited the authentic Prophetic path. Allah’s Messenger, the rightly guided Khulafaa, or any of the Muslims’ Imams, such as Maalik, Ath-Thawree, Al-Layth Bin Sa’d, Abu Haneefah, Al-Awzaa’ee, Ash-Shaafi’ee, Ahmad Bin Hanbal, and Ishaaq Bin Raahawayh, never legislated these deeds. (4)

Footnote a: Imam Muhammad Ibn Saalih Al-Uthaymeen [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: The Nawaasib are the ones who propagate hostility towards the Prophet’s family, slander and revile them, so they are the opposite of the Rawaafid (i.e. those who exaggerate the status of the Prophet’s family until they worship them). [3] Why do we need to be more cautious of the soul than an avowed enemy

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

“It is obligatory for the one who hears this from Allah to be more careful or cautious about his Nafs than an enemy who wishes to murder him, take his wealth, or violate his honour. If someone asks, “Why do you obligate this precaution on me regarding the Nafs until you put it in a circumstance more dangerous than an enemy whose enmity is unquestionably very manifest?” Then it should be said to him, “The enemy who wants to harm you, take your wealth, or violate your honour, if they succeed in doing so, Allah will forgive some of your sins and elevate you. (footnote a) However, this will not be the case with the Nafs because if the Nafs dominate you through what you desire—that which you have been forbidden—then you will face ruin in this world and the next, humiliation and terrible punishment in this world and evil in the Sight of Allah”. (footnote b)

Imam al-Aajurree [may Allah have mercy upon him] said:

I’m going to give you a similitude with context that is not hidden from you. Know that the soul is like a fine foal from a horse, and the beholder is awestruck when he looks at it because of its good appearance and beauty. People with knowledge of its affairs say, “Benefit will not be obtained from it until it is properly trained and disciplined, then it will be of benefit- good enough to gallop and be of service, and thus its rider praises the outcomes of its training and discipline. But if it is not disciplined, its nice looks and beauty will be useless, and its rider will not laud its results when they are required.”

If the owner of this foal adopts the advice of individuals with knowledge about its situation, he will know that their speech is sound and will then give it to a horse trainer to train. And the trainer of horses is not considered worthy of the title unless he is proficient in the process of training as well as being patient. If he is knowledgeable about training horses and knows the best course of action, the owner will profit from it; however, if the trainer is not knowledgeable about training horses nor how to discipline a horse, he will ruin this foal, exhaust himself, and the rider will not be pleased with the results. If he is knowledgeable about horse training and how to discipline a horse but lacks the patience to endure the hardship that comes with the training, desires comfort in the situation, and is careless regarding the right course of action required of him, he will ruin and mistreat this foal, making it unfit for service and unfit to gallop, causing its appearance to be inconsistent with its true reality.

If the foal’s owner was also its trainer, he will become regretful when regret will be useless owing to his neglect. And when a service is needed, he glances at another horse whose service is sought and received and gallops when required. Then he seeks the service of his horse and requests that it gallop, but neither receives a response nor does the horse agree to gallop. All of this is due to his negligence when training the horse and his lack of patience after admitting it. So, he began to blame himself, saying, ” “Why was I negligent and why did I fall short? Indeed, my lack of patience has brought on everything I despise”. And Allaah’s Aid is sought! Consider and comprehend this similitude, may Allah have mercy on you, in order to be successful and saved. [An Excerpt from Adabun Nufoos. Page 5. Slightly paraphrased]

Footnote a: The Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said, “Indeed, the bankrupt one of my Ummah will come on the Day of Resurrection with prayer, fasting and Zakah (in his account), but he comes along having abused this one, slandered that one, unlawfully took the wealth of this one and shed the blood of that one, and beaten that one. So this one will be given from his good deeds, and that one will be given from his good deeds. And if his good deeds finish before the judgment is made on him, some of their sins(i.e. the ones he wronged) will be taken and cast onto him, then he will be thrown into the Fire.” [Reported by Muslim. [5] Enemies of The Qur’an Seek After The Impossible Through Their Wanton Behaviour

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allah [The Exalted] said:

وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْآيَاتِ وَلِتَسْتَبِينَ سَبِيلُ الْمُجْرِمِينَ

And thus do We explain the signs (to you O Muḥammad) in detail, and so that the way of the criminals may become evident (to you)] [Surah Al-An’aam. Aayah 55] (1)

Imam Ibn Katheer [may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated regarding this Ayah: “Allah [The Exalted] stated that just as He explained what was previously explained of the arguments and evidence on the path of guidance and sound judgement, and censured argumentation and stubbornness; likewise He explains the signs (proofs, evidences, lessons), which those being addressed are in need of; [ولتستبين سبيل المجرمين – and so that the way of the criminals may become evident (to you)]. Meaning, so that the path of the criminals – those who oppose the Messengers – may become evident”. (2)

Imam At-Tabari [may Allah have mercy upon him] stated regarding the statement of Allah: [وكذلك نفصل الآيات – And thus do We explain the signs (to you O Muḥammad) in detail]- Meaning, O Muhammad! Just as We have detailed for you in this Surah – from its beginning and introduction up to this point – our proofs and evidences against the idolaters and worshippers of images, and distinguished and clarified it for you; likewise, We explain to you our signs and evidences for every truth denied by the people of falsehood, the sects and other than them, until its truth is distinguished from its falsehood, and its right is distinguished from its wrong. (3)

Allah [The Exalted] said:
وَلَا يَأۡتُونَكَ بِمَثَلٍ إِلَّا جِئۡنَـٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَأَحۡسَنَ تَفۡسِيرًا

And they bring no (argument or objection by way of a) similitude (to criticise this Qur’ān and oppose your message) except that We bring you the truth and the better explanation thereof (through a similitude that is superior to theirs, provides detail and invalidates their objection). (4)

[وَلَا يَأۡتُونَكَ بِمَثَلٍ – And they bring no (argument or objection by way of a) similitude]- Meaning, by which they (attempt) to oppose and repel the truth as well as your message; [إِلَّا جِئۡنَـٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَأَحۡسَنَ تَفۡسِيرًا – except that We bring you the truth and the better explanation thereof (through a similitude that is superior to theirs, provides detail and invalidates their objection)]- Meaning, We sent down to you the Qur’an, which has all truth in its meaning, as well as clear and flawless elucidation of its wordings, because all of its meanings are truth and credibility, not tainted by falsehood or doubt from any angle. [1] Some of Islam’s Outstanding Characteristics

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imam As-Sadi [may Allah have mercy upon him] said:

All praise be to Allah; we praise Him, seek His Help, seek His Forgiveness, and repent to Him. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of ourselves and the evils of our actions. Whoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whoever Allah allows to stray (due to a perversion in their heart), there is no guide for such a person. I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone without a partner; and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him].

To proceed: Indeed, the religion of Islam conveyed by Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] is the most complete and greatest of religions, the loftiest and most exalted. It possesses beautiful traits, perfection, righteousness, mercy, justice, and wisdom, all of which attest to Allah’s perfection, His All-Encompassing Knowledge, and Wisdom. It attests to the fact that Allah’s Prophet is a true Messenger of His, as well as a truthful and trustworthy one who does not speak out of his own desires; rather [إن هو إلا وحي يوحى – It (the Qur’an and Sunnah) is only an Inspiration that is inspired (to him)]. [Surah An-Najm. Aayah 4]

My goal with this annotation is to show – based on what I know – the basis of the virtues of this magnificent religion, even though my understanding and awareness would be severely lacking (as I endeavour to) express the majesty, beauty, and perfection that is contained in it. My remarks would be inadequate in explaining it in general, let alone in depth. However, if something is not fully understood and its aim cannot be reached or is only partially reached, a person should not discard what one knows from it due to the inability to understand what one does not know, because Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capability. Allah said: [فاتقوا الله ما استطعتم – So fear Allah as much as you can]. [Surah Al-Taghabun. Ayah 16]

Acquaintance with this knowledge (i.e. Islam’s outstanding characteristics) provides numerous benefits, including the following:

Engaging in this topic, which is the most honourable and elevated topic, is one of the most virtuous and righteous deeds. Acquaintance with it, searching for it, reflecting on it, and choosing every avenue that leads to it is the best thing that a servant of Allah can be preoccupied with, and the time spent on it is in one’s favour rather than the reverse.

One of the greatest of good deeds, which Allah and His Messenger have commanded, is to acknowledge and speak about Allah’s blessings. There is no question that the research in this matter is a recognition, a discourse, and a contemplation regarding Allah’s loftiest blessings which He has bestowed on His servants, and that is the Islamic religion, apart from which no other religion is approved by Allah. Thus, this discourse serves as means of thanking Allah for His blessings and requesting more of them.

People’s levels of faith and perfection vary greatly, therefore the faith and certainty of a servant of Allah becomes stronger the more they understand this religion, rejoice in it, revere, and adore it since it is evidence of all the fundamentals of faith and its principles.

Explaining Islam’s virtues, which are recognised by everyone of upright natural inclination and intellect, is one of the greatest invitations to the religion. If men (Footnote a) call to this religion while explaining its realities and welfare, that would be completely sufficient in attracting the people to it without much need to confront the opponents’ doubts and refutation of the religions that oppose Islam because of what they would see regarding its agreement with the welfare for both religious and worldly affairs, rectification of deeds and hearts. That is because Islam repels all doubts that contradict it, and it is truth backed by precise explanations and proofs that lead to certainty. If some of the proofs about this religion are revealed, it becomes the most compelling cause for its acceptance and will be preferred above other (paths). (Footnote b) (1)

Those Who Burn The Qur’an to Anger Believers Are Trapped By Their Own Fear!

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Those Who Burn The Qur’an to Anger Believers Are Trapped By Their Own Fear That Islam Cannot Be Stopped From Spreading

Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said:

When the polytheists denied the Qur’an and made every effort to invalidate it, along with the fact that they were challenged to present something comparable, ten chapters, or even one chapter, this demonstrated to the people of sound understanding that they were powerless to oppose it despite their arduous efforts and the powerful means they employed (to oppose it); but if they had adhered to it as opposed to resisting and trying to invalidate it, their incapacity to resist it would not have become apparent.

When the magicians opposed Musa (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Allah nullified what they presented, and it was through this that Allah manifested the truth of what Musa conveyed. This is one of the differences between the signs of the Prophets and their proofs, which are known as “True Miracles”, and that which is made to resemble them from the paranormal acts of the magicians and devilish activities. This is due to the fact that these two affairs differ in a number of ways. Allah said:

“Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person”.

And among these distinguishing signs is that which Allah has made clear in the verses that challenge the opponents and the signs given to the Prophets, which cannot be challenged by anything, much less greater than them; nor is it possible for anybody to nullify them, as opposed to the paranormal deeds of magicians and devils, because it is possible to challenge them with something similar and stronger, and it is possible to nullify them.

Similarly, when all the enemies of the Prophets among the criminals – the devils among men and Jinn, who inspire one another with embellished speech through deception – reveal their proofs to support the legitimacy of their religions, which are opposed to the religion of the Messengers; utilised deceit through the fabrication of narratives and the presentation of what is presented as fact to be believed, then through explanation, manifest evidence, and thereafter through the sword, the hand, and weaponry (see footnote a), this serves as a means for demonstrating the sound beliefs that Allah has promised to give the upper hand over all other religions.

Allah [The Exalted] said:

Indeed We have sent Our Messengers with clear proofs, and revealed with them the Scripture and the Balance (justice) that mankind may keep up justice. And We brought forth iron wherein is mighty power (in matters of war), as well as many benefits for mankind, that Allah may test who it is that will help Him (His religion), and His Messengers in the unseen. Verily, Allah is All-Strong, All-Mighty]. [Surah Al-Hadeed. Aayah 25]

As a result of what Allah establishes through clear signs and proofs, the wholesome truth is given superiority over falsehood, what is beneficial is given superiority over frivolity, guidance is given superiority over misguidance, truthfulness is given the upper hand over that which cannot be proven to be true, the path to good conduct and behaviour is given the upper hand over deviation, uprightness is given the upper hand over corruption, and accuracy is given superiority over error. This is a test for humankind in which the evil people are differentiated from the good people. Allah [The Exalted] said:

مَّا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيَذَرَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَنتُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ حَتَّىٰ يَمِيزَ ٱلۡخَبِيثَ مِنَ ٱلطَّيِّبِ

“Allah will not leave the believers in the state in which you are now, until He distinguishes the wicked from the good”. [Surah Aal Imraan. Aayah 179]

Allah [The Exalted] said:

Alif-Laam-Meem. Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: “We believe,” and will not be tested. And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allah will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars, (although Allah knows all that before putting them to test). Or do those who do evil deeds think that they can outstrip Us (i.e. escape Our Punishment)? Evil is that which they judge! ]

Fitna is a test, just as Allaah stated that Musa [peace be upon him] said:
إِنۡ هِىَ إِلَّا فِتۡنَتُكَ تُضِلُّ بِہَا مَن تَشَآءُ وَتَہۡدِى مَن تَشَآءُ

“It is only Your Trial by which You lead astray whom You will, and keep guided whom You will”.

In other words, it is your trial and test that causes those who oppose the Messengers to be misguided and those who follow them to be guided. For a human being, a trial is like exposing gold to the bellows, which separates the good parts from the impurities; similarly, truth is like pure gold, and anytime it is exposed to heat, its quality improves. Falsehood, on the other hand, is like something tainted and veiled in mist, and when investigated, its corruption manifests. So, whenever an observer observes the religion of truth (Islam), and whenever an arguer argues on its behalf, its proof manifests, assurance is enhanced, the faith of believers is increased, and its light glows in the hearts of humankind, and Jinn. As for when a person makes an argument in favour of false religion and tries to establish its crooked structure, Allah establishes those who throw the truth against the falsehood, destroying it, and it becomes obvious that the person making the argument is an idiot, a liar, lost, dim-witted, and unstable; contradictions, heresies, disbelief, misguidance, ignorance, and absurdity are manifested from such a religion, along with the fact that it makes clear to all men that adherents of false religions are the most misguided, and to the extent that corruption is manifested from such a religion of that which was unknown to the majority of men. [3] Salafi Scholars are clueless about current events that would strengthen the Ummah!

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen said:

Some people say that someone who does not grasp current affairs is not a scholar, yet they forget what the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said, “Whoever Allah wishes good for, He grants them understanding in the religion”. Then they lose sight of the reality that preoccupying oneself with current affairs distracts a person from understanding the religion and may even keep people from engaging in correct worship, which is to worship Allah alone while devoting one’s heart to Allah and reflecting on Allah’s divine revelation (i.e. the Qur’an) and His universal signs (i.e. the things He has created). In reality, preoccupying the youth with current affairs prevents them from understanding the religion Allah has ordained because the heart is a vessel that does not take another thing when it is filled with something else; thus, it is not possible to fill it with this and that. Being preoccupied with seeking understanding in the religion, fulfilling acts of worship, pure Islamic monotheism, and sincerity are the better to do for the individual than learning about current affairs and what such and such a person is about. It is possible that one receives knowledge of current affairs through flimsy and fabricated media narrations, or bases knowledge of current affairs on the analysis and speculations of a person. The one engaged in the subject of current affairs may seek to establish an analysis that is far from what the current affairs are or they look into affairs that have been concocted for them by the enemies (regarding) a specific event, but this event turns out to be something else and does not exist at all, so all those plans come to naught. Therefore, it is important that one learns what Islam expects of them- the understanding related to one’s self, rectification of the heart through sound belief and wishing good for the Muslims, and this is related to the understanding of halaal, haraam, and other affairs of a similar nature. (However), if necessary, one can acquire knowledge about current affairs; but when it comes to matters that haven’t actually happened yet, such as lies, deception, analysis, and speculation, attaching absolute emphasis to it has no foundation.

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: Allah informs us that He sent the Messengers to guide the creation (humankind and Jinn) and that He supported them with clear evidence that manifests the realities, demonstrates the truthfulness of the Messengers and the reality of what they brought. He revealed to them the Scripture, which contains guidance and mercy, as well as the Balance, which is justice, through which justice, its foundation, and subsidiary branches are known, and so that humankind may maintain justice when they act on it in their beliefs, manners, deeds, behaviour, and all their affairs. As a result, when they act on what Allah revealed in the Scripture and the Balance, all their dealings and circumstances will be founded on righteousness and steadfastness.

And Allah informs us that He sent down iron, which has great power in matters of war as well as many advantages for humanity. He stated its advantages explicitly in terms of benefits in matters of war and then generally in terms of all other matters. Allah sent down iron for these helpful, necessary matters and affairs that bring about perfection, both specifically and in general. Except for a few things, everything needs iron. Allah mentioned it in the context of the favours He has bestowed upon the servants, which makes it necessary for these favours to be extracted in every way, necessitating further the necessity of education in military expertise and war affairs, the manufacture of weapons and their accessories, maritime transport, land transportation, aircraft, and other things that aid the servants in their religious and worldly affairs.

Allah said:

And make ready against them all you can of power, including steeds of war (tanks, planes, missiles, artillery, etc.) to threaten the enemy of Allah and your enemy]. [Surah Al-Anfaal. Ayah 60]

Allah said:
Take every precaution for yourselves.

[Surah An-Nisaa. Ayah 102]

This addresses the issue of preparing for as much power as is feasible, including doing so mentally, politically, monetarily, and religiously, as well as taking all necessary precautions against the enemy. This generality includes all types of crafts—small and large—as well as innovations and fortifications for defence. As a result, this Islamic faith encourages healthy advancement and strength in all respects, in contrast to the false claims made by its foes that it is weak, careless, and worn out. (1) [End of quote]

Finally, the preparation of weapons is the task of Muslim governments, not insurgent organisations. The Khawaarij (ISIS and their ilk) have no authority; instead, they are bandits, innovators in religious affairs, and terrorists. Upright Muslims obey their rulers in good, fulfil the agreements their rulers have established between their nations and other nations, and uphold upright conduct whether in their home countries or abroad. A rebuke against those who say, “Salafi Scholars are clueless about current events that would strengthen the Ummah!”

Imam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allah have mercy upon him] said:

There are numerous reasons for weakness, lack of advancement, and being overpowered by enemies. Many factors emanate from one (main) factor, and this one reason and factor is ignorance about Allah and the religion He has ordained, the final outcomes that have gripped the majority, and thus knowledge became limited and ignorance widespread. A number of issues resulted from this ignorance, including (blameworthy) love of the worldly life and dislike of death, neglect of (obligatory) prayers, following of (evil) desires, lack of preparation for the enemy, satisfaction in obtaining needs from the enemy, and a lack of high aspiration to meet needs from their country and resources. This ignorance also caused a lack of (sound) harmony, togetherness, and cooperation, which led to division and disagreement.

This demonstrates that the greatest cause of weakness is ignorance about Allah, ignorance about the religion ordained by Allah and those realities to which one is obligated to adhere and take into account, and that is the Prophet’s [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] “If Allah wishes good for a person, He gives them understanding in religion.” This report, along with Qur’anic verses and other reports, demonstrates the filth of ignorance, its effects, and ultimate outcomes; rather, the Noble Qur’an is full of condemnation of ignorance and its people, as well as warnings against them, as Allah said:

وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَجْهَلُونَ

But most of them behave (ignorantly).

And most of them have no understanding.

As well as other Qur’anic verses that dispraise ignorance, such as being ignorant of Allah and the religion He has decreed, being ignorant of the enemy, and that which is obligated (to Muslims) to prepare in terms of vigilance, (sound) unity, and cooperation.

And from this ignorance arose splitting, (blameworthy) differing, inclination towards (evil) desires, negligence towards prayer, neglecting what Allah has obligated, lack of giving precedence to the Afterlife and not truthfully associating oneself with it; rather, the majority is concerned only with this present worldly life, just as Allah said:

كَلا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَ
وَتَذَرُونَ الْآخِرَةَ

But (you men) love the present life of this world and leave (neglect) the Hereafter. [Surah Al-Qiyaamah. Verses 21-22]

And just as Allah [The Exalted] said:
فَأَمَّا مَنْ طَغَى
وَآثَرَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا
فَإِنَّ الْجَحِيمَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَى

Then, for him who transgressed all bounds and preferred the life of this world (by following his evil desires and lusts), verily, his abode will be Hellfire. [Surah An-Naazi’aat. Verses 37-39]

As a result, the Messenger’s statement, “If Allah wishes good for a person, He gives them understanding in the religion,” demonstrates that one of the signs of goodness and happiness for the individual, the people, and the state is they seek understanding in the religion, because seeking understanding in the religion, learning, and insight into what is obligated to them – now and in the future – is one of the most obligatory duties, and in this is a sign that Allah wishes good for them. And related to this is the fulfilment of what Allah has obligated, staying away from what Allah has made unlawful, and restricting oneself within the confines of Allah’s ordainments.

And among the detrimental causes (of weakness), their outcomes, and what they necessitate is that which has transpired in terms of weakness in the face of the enemy and being delayed in everything save what Allah wills to remain; inclination towards forbidden desires, preoccupation with what hinders the path of Allah and guidance, lack of preparation for the enemy in the arena of industry, lack of sufficient weaponry that frightens the enemy- to help fight him, strive against him in Jihad, taking one’s rights from him, not preparing the bodies for jihad and not spending money in what is obligatory to prepare for the enemy, guard against his evil, defend the religion and the homeland. Except for what Allah wills, the preparation is poor or non-existent, and the goals are skewed. Thus, the path of success, the path of advancement over adversaries and the absence of weakness in front of them, the path of prosperity and success, the way to gaining high status and the lofty goals to be sought after, triumph over enemies- the path to all of this is to embrace beneficial knowledge and the sound understanding of the religion, give priority to Allah’s pleasure over His displeasure, pay close attention to what Allah has obligated, abandon what Allah has made unlawful, and repent truthfully to Allah from one’s sins and shortcomings.

Also, in Muslim countries, there should be industries, preparation, and strength that will enable every individual through every means, so that one has no need of the enemy – until the enemy knows what this Muslim has of preparation and talent, and the enemy is afraid of him, treats him fairly and fulfils his rights. The bodies must be prepared and should resist overindulging in that type of luxury that will weaken the strength and the hearts when required to battle the enemy, and so that one has the strength to execute Jihad. The state and the people should cooperate fully on what is necessary of obedience to Allah and His Messenger, refraining from what Allah [The Mighty and Majestic] have forbidden, and collaborating on what is required to make preparations, as Allah said:

وَأَعِدُّوا لَهُمْ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ

And make ready against them all you can of power.

[Surah Al-Anfaal. Verse 60]

It is necessary to physically prepare- prepare equipment (of defence and war), and other types of equipment in all aspects so that we can suffice with what Allah [Glorified be He] has given us and not be in need of what our enemies possess because fighting our enemies with what they possess is extremely difficult to obtain. If the enemy prevents you from acquiring weapons, what do you fight with in addition to a lack of awareness and knowledge?! It is necessary to prepare what is possible, and whatever is attainable is sufficient as long as Muslims intend to do without their enemy, fight their enemy, save their country, establish Allah’s command in the land, and have the intention (to receive a reward) in the Afterlife to the greatest extent possible because Allah [Glorified and Exalted be He] says: [وَأَعِدُّوا لَهُمْ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ – And make ready against them all you can of power], but Allah did not say, “And make ready against them that which is equal to their power” since that may not be achievable.

If the Muslims are sincere, join hands, prepare for their enemy with as much equipment as they can, and defend the religion ordained by Allah, then Allah [Glorified and Exalted be He] will help them and place them in front and above the enemy, rather than under the enemy. Allah- the One Who is truthful in His speech and promises – said:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ تَنْصُرُوا اللَّهَ يَنْصُرْكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَكُمْ

O you who believe! If you help (in the cause of) Allah, He will help you, and make your foothold firm.

Allah is neither unable nor in need of the people, but He puts His good servants to the test through the evil ones, so that the truthfulness of the truthful ones can be distinguished from the lies of the liars, the one who truly strives in the path of Allah can be distinguished from others, and the one desirous of safety (in this life and the next) can be distinguished. This is the reason, otherwise, Allah is able to aid His allies and destroy His adversaries without the need for Jihad, preparations, and other things, as He [Glorified be He] said:

ذَلِكَ وَلَوْ يَشَاءُ اللَّهُ لانْتَصَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَلَكِنْ لِيَبْلُوَ بَعْضَكُمْ بِبَعْضٍ –

But if it had been Allah’s Will, He Himself could certainly have punished them (without you). But (He lets you fight), in order to test you, some with others]. [Surah Muhammad. Aayah 4] (1) [End of quote]
