Is There Reward In Following Lessons Online? Sh.Zaid al-Madkhaly

The following question was posed to Shaikh Zaid al-Madkhaly رحمه الله:

Q: Do those who follow the lessons of the Salafi scholars online or via radio gain the blessing of the gathering?

A: These whom you have mentioned have many great gains:-

Firstly: They are considered students of knowledge, [i.e. in the sense that they are using their time listening to salafi lessons online, learning and benefitting] and the student of knowledge is the best of the people in degree, and the best of the people of his time if he intends the removal of ignorance from himself through seeking knowledge and to act upon his knowledge and spread it.

Secondly: The student of knowledge whether he sits in isolation alone or in a group, serenity descends upon him, and mercy envelops him, and the Angels of Allah surround him. So these individuals who follow the circles of knowledge from the Book and the Sunnah and other means of knowledge, they have a great reward and their reward does not decrease from the level of reward of those physically present in the circles with the scholars of knowledge in’sha’Allah.

[Translator’s note: This has within it a great encouragement for those who find themselves in circumstances whereby they are unable to attend Salafi lessons in-person, to listen and follow online from wherever they may be across the world.

It should be highlighted though, that this is not to be understood as a licence to purposely exclude oneself from the physical gatherings with the ability to attend, upon the excuse of being able to listen online anyway. Those who find themselves in a position to attend Salafi lessons, of students for example, in-person within their localities and/or surrounding areas, should make the effort in accordance to their ability to attend and be with their brothers and sisters. It is from the blessing of Allah lessons are now held by Salafi students in various locations across the U.K. and elsewhere, such blessings are deserving of gratitude to be demonstrated upon them. However, those who are genuinely unable to physically attend, then their is great benefit nevertheless in following online, and that is an opportunity not to be wasted.]

Ikhlaas and Not Showing off, whether a Scholar or Laymen- Shkh Muhammad b. Haadi- relayed by @ABDULILAH_UK

An important reminder, to be sincere and grounded, and not to show off regarding your actions; no matter how many people follow you or take from you in terms of da’wa.

This reminder has come to us at a crucial time in which we see many people entering into the dawah and religion of Allah. Alhamdulillah the blessings in this dawat-us salafiyyah are great. But we must always remember that anything that is achieved is by the tawfique of Allah and his mercy first. Our effort is very little in comparison to Allah’s immense favour and Mercy upon us to even allow us to be a part of it.

So we should strive as hard as we can to aid this call to Islam; working deligently in this dawah – and we ask Allah to reward us fully – all of us – and not to hold us to account for the things we fall short in.

Shaikh Fawzaan says: This categorization of (Tawheed) is not found except with the Ikhwaaniyyah

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan (may Allaah preserve him) said: ”This categorization [of Tawheed (i.e.Ar- Ruboobiyyah, Al-Uloohiyyah, Al-Asmaa Was-Sifaat and Al-Haakimiyyah) is not found except with the Ikhwaaniyyah (i.e. the deviant Muslim brotherhood sect); rather Al-Haakimiyyah enters into Tawheed al-Uloohiyyah….

What is Fusooq—Shaikh Fawzaan (may Allaah preserve him) explains…

Question:

Concerning the statement of Allaah (The Most High): [وَكَرَّهَ إِلَيْكُمُ الْكُفْرَ وَالْفُسُوقَ وَالْعِصْيَان] – ”And has made disbelief, wickedness and disobedience (to Allah and His Messenger) hateful to you.” [Al-Hujuraat. Ayah 7]   Al-Fusooq and Al-Faasiqoon have been mentioned several times in the Qur’aan and the Sunnah, so what is Fusooq and how can a Muslim be careful of becoming from a people who are Faasiqeen?

Answer:

Concerning Allaah’s (The Most High) statement:  [وَكَرَّهَ إِلَيْكُمُ الْكُفْرَ وَالْفُسُوقَ وَالْعِصْيَان]- ”And has made disbelief, wickedness and disobedience (to Allah and His Messenger) hateful to you”; He (Glorified Be He) mentioned the three types of acts of disobedience in this noble Ayah:

(A) The type of disobedience that removes a person from the fold of Islaam, such as Kufr (Akbar) and Shirk (Akbar). [Ref 1]

(B) The major type of disobedience which is lesser than Kufr (Akbar) and Shirk (Akbar) and it does not remove a person from the Religion but it decreases one’s Imaan—a manifest decrease–; such as fornication, theft, drinking alcohol and other than that of the major sins.  They are referred to as Fusooq (wicked deeds) and the person who commits them is referred to as a Faasiq (wicked sinner) because Fisq means removing oneself from obedience to Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic].

(C) Then He (The Most High) mentioned the type of disobedience that is lesser than the major sins and are not tantamount to Fisq, and they are the minor sins.

So Allaah (Glorified Be He) informed (us) that He has made all these three types of disobedience hateful to the people of Imaan and make them have a love for the various types of acts of obedience and righteous actions that draws them close to their Lord.

The Guessers—Described by Imaam Bukhaari and Imaam Nawawi

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullaah) said, ‘Chapter:  Learning about the Laws of Inheritance.  Uqbah Bin Aamir said, ”Learn (the laws of Inheritance) before those who depend on Az-Zan (guessing), namely, those who base their judgment on mere presumption.”[1]

Imaam Nawawi (rahimahullaah) stated after this statement of Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullaah): ”The meaning of this is (that) you should learn from those who possess true precision, expertise and fear of Allaah before they go away (through death) and then there appears a people who speak about knowledge in conformity with the desires of their souls and with presumptions, which have no (clear or unambiguous) proof in the Islamic legislation.
