[2] A Statement by Al-Allaamah Rabee and an Audio of Muhammad Abdur Razzaaq Provide a Reality Check for Obstinate Abu Makkah

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Hudhaifah [may Allah be pleased with him] reported that Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said, “The Fitan will be presented to the hearts of the people like a reed mat woven stick by stick, and any heart afflicted by them will have a black mark put into it, but any heart that rejects them will have a white mark put into it. Thus there will be two kinds of hearts: one is pure like a white gemstone and it will not be harmed by any tribulation as long as the heavens and earth endure, and the other is black and dusty like a worn-out vessel, neither recognizing good nor rejecting evil, but rather immersed in its desires”. [Saheeh Muslim’ Number 144]

Abu Makkah [may Allah guide him] stated: “The questioner claims that our brother Muhammad deviated after being close to Mashayikh, however, we know and can trace who Muhammad AbdurRazzaq took ilm from”. Then Abu Makkah listed the number of scholars and people of knowledge with whom Muhammad sat, including Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khali [may Allah preserve him].

Indeed, the first thing we must remind Abu Makkah [may Allah guide him] is that which Al-Allaamah Rabee [may Allah preserve him] stated about trials and tribulations, and that none can protect us from them save Allah, regardless of how many people of knowledge a person sat with or how many students he has. Al-Allaamah Rabee [may Allah preserve him] said: “Many trials have taken place, including the trial of the khawaarij, the Rawaafid, and killing. Deviation and misguidance have occurred, as have fighting and tribulations (connected) to politics, creed, methodology, and similar affairs. Many people who were going to be destroyed were destroyed, while the one whom Allah protected was saved and (enabled to) follow the true methodology. Therefore, throughout every trial, they (the scholars of Ahlus Sunnah) must openly proclaim the truth and clarify it for the people”. (1) [End of quote]

Al-Allaamah Rabee [may Allah preserve him] also said: “Yes, a man may be upon truth, and then you might not see him again except that he has become a disbeliever or a misguided innovator (in religious affairs)! This is nothing but humiliation! He used to claim that he is upon good, a possessor of knowledge, and upon truth, but then he falls into disbelief–either Kufr Akbar or Kufr Asghar. This is ignominy, and Allah’s protection is sought! How many people have been humiliated and exposed as a result of a trial?! You learn about them, and their false claims are exposed, and their reality is clarified for you“. (2) [End of quote]

وَٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ

Ponder the following statements again: Deviation and misguidance have occurred, as have fighting and tribulations (connected) to politics, creed, methodology, and similar affairs“. “How many people have been humiliated and exposed as a result of a trial?! You learn about them, and their false claims are exposed, and their reality is clarified for you“.

Abu Makkah [may Allah guide him] mentioned the people of knowledge with whom Muhammad Abdur Razzaaq [may Allah guide him] sat in order to belittle and inflate what he believes distinguishes Muhammad from Shaikh Abu Khadeejah [may Allah preserve him], even though Muhammad wilfully turned a blind eye to the detailed knowledge-based proofs produced by Al-Allaamah Rabee and his students against Dr Muhammad Bin Haadi and the Musaafiqah. Both him and Abu Makkah [may Allah guide them] were swept away during the Fitna of the Musaafiqah, which is a Fitna related to Manhaj (Methodology). Click on this link to learn more about the Musaafiqah and the role of Abu Makkah during this Fitna.

https://salafidawahmanchester.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Makkah2.pdf

In addition to this matter, here is an audio with the voice of Muhammad Abdur Razzaaq [may Allah guide him], in which he transmitted the instruction he received from Al-Allaamah Rabee to keep company with the people of Sunnah, particularly those who are well-known for being firm by Allah’s Tawfeeq. Listen to the audio player below:

So, who has departed from Al-Allaamah Rabee’s sound advice?! Shaikh Abu Khadeejah or Muhammad Abdur Razzaaq?! There is nothing personal between Muhammad and us; rather, he chose to defend deception, distanced himself from the truth in this matter (i.e. the Fitna of the Musaafiqah), and chose his fellowship.

We have one last reminder for the obstinate fame-seeker (Abu Makkah) from Imam Fudayl Ibn Iyaad [may Allah have mercy upon him] who said: “There’s none who loves leadership, except that he will envy, transgress, seek after people’s fault (i.e. falsely) and hates that anyone else is mentioned with good”. (3)

However, if Abu Makkah does not desist, we remind him that Allah said:

وَلَا تُطِعۡ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ۬ مَّهِينٍ
هَمَّازٍ۬ مَّشَّآءِۭ بِنَمِيمٍ۬
مَّنَّاعٍ۬ لِّلۡخَيۡرِ مُعۡتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ

And obey not everyone who swears much, and is considered worthless, a slanderer, going about with calumnies, a hinderer of the good, transgressor, sinful…[Al-Qalam. Ayaat 10-12]

[1] Why do we need to be more cautious of the soul than an avowed enemy

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imaam Abu Bakr Muhammad Ibn Al-Husayn Al-Aajurree [may Allah have mercy upon him] said:

All praise and thanks be to Allah by way of Whose Grace all righteous deeds are accomplished. All praise and thanks be to Allah in all circumstances and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon the Prophet Muhammad, his family, and all his companions, and we seek Allah’s Aid and Assistance. To proceed:

May Allah grant us and you all the path towards right conduct in speech and deeds, protect us from the evils of our souls and the evil consequences of our evil deeds, and truly He is All-Hearer, Ever Near (to all things by His knowledge). Know that Allah has mentioned the soul in various sections of His Book, with notification of many matters concerning it, and that all of this implies that one should be mindful of the soul. Our Generous Protector (Allah) informed us that the soul has a tendency to gravitate toward the (evil) it desires while knowing it is forbidden. Our Generous Protector made it known and taught us that whoever prohibits the soul from pursuing the (evil) it desires, the abode of such a person will be paradise. Allah stated:

But when there comes the greatest catastrophe (i.e. the Day of Recompense, etc.), the Day when man shall remember what he strove for, and Hell-fire shall be made apparent in full view for (every) one who sees, then, for him who Tagha (transgressed all bounds, in disbelief, oppression and evil deeds of disobedience to Allah). And preferred the life of this world (by following his evil desires and lusts), verily, his abode will be Hell-fire; but as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires, and lusts, then verily, Paradise will be his abode. [Surah An-Naazi’aat. Ayaat 34-41]

It is obligatory for the one who hears this from Allah to be more careful or cautious about his Nafs than an enemy who wishes to murder him, take his wealth, or violate his honour. If someone asks, “Why do you obligate this precaution on me regarding the Nafs until you put it in a circumstance more dangerous than an enemy whose enmity is unquestionably very manifest?” Then it should be said to him, “The enemy who wants to harm you, take your wealth, or violate your honour, if they succeed in doing so, Allah will forgive some of your sins and elevate you. (footnote a) However, this will not be the case with the Nafs because if the Nafs dominates you through what you desire—that which you have been forbidden—then you will face ruin in this world and the next, humiliation and terrible punishment in this world and evil in the Sight of Allah”. (footnote b)

As a result, the sensible person – may Allah have mercy on him (or her)- imposes or obligates caution on the Nafs and strives against it in a more severe manner than striving against an enemy who wants to take their wealth and life – strives against the Nafs both in times of anger and happiness. This is how our prophet disciplined us in many ahadeeth, saying: “The Mujaahid is the one who strives against his Nafs in devotion to Allah – The Mighty and Majestic”.

If one asks, “By what means should I strive against my soul until I overcome it?” It is said to them, “Strive against it until it fulfils the duties imposed by Allah and stays away from what Allaah has forbidden.” If a person says, “Describe for me the traits that the soul tends to incline towards, which are not good, so that I can be cautious of them, hate them, and strive against them if I know that there is something of these traits in my soul”. Then it is said to them, “The (evil) of the soul is deserving of being hated for the sake of Allah, and whoever hates (the evil) of his soul for the sake of Allah, it is hoped that he will be saved from being hated by Allah, just as Imaam Fudayl Ibn Iyaadh said, ‘Whoever hates (the evils) of his soul for the Sake of Allah is saved from being hated by Allah'”. (1)

Footnote a: The Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said, “Indeed, the bankrupt one of my Ummah will come on the Day of Resurrection with prayer, fasting and Zakah (in his account), but he comes along having abused this one, slandered that one, unlawfully took the wealth of this one and shed the blood of that one, and beaten that one. So this one will be given from his good deeds, and that one will be given from his good deeds. And if his good deeds finishes before the judgment is made on him, some of their sins(i.e. the ones he wronged) will be taken and cast onto him, then he will be thrown into the Fire.” [Reported by Muslim. Number: 2581]

Footnote b: Imam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: The sinners [i.e. those who die whilst committing sins lesser than shirk] are under the will of Allah- if Allah wishes, He will either punish them or forgive them straight away or He enters them into hell for some time and paradise thereafter, just as Allah said:

[إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَغۡفِرُ أَن يُشۡرَكَ بِهِۦ وَيَغۡفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٲلِكَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ‌ۚ – Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases]. [7] Ideologues hiding behind journalism – Patrick Wintour

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah [The Most High] said:
يُرِيدُونَ أَنْ يُطْفِئُوا نُورَ اللَّهِ بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ

They want to extinguish Allaah’s Light with their mouths [i.e. the Qur’an, the pure Islamic monotheism, and the guidance Allaah sent Muhammad with] but Allah will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the disbelievers hate (it). [Soorah At-Tawbah: Ayah: 32]

Imaam Ibn Katheer [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: They want to extinguish that which Allah sent His Messenger with of guidance and the religion of truth, merely by way of their arguments and fabrications, so their example in this is that of one who wants to extinguish the light of the sun or the moon by way of blowing at (them) and this (person) can never achieve this. (1)

Patrick Wintour stated about President Macron in a Monday, October 26, 2020 article:

To begin, what exactly is separatism? “It is the belief held by people of a particular race, religion, or another group within a country that they should be independent and have their own government or in some way live apart from other people”. If this is what Mr. Wintour means by separatist, then there has to be some clarity. Shaikh Abdul Waahid Abu Khadeejah [may Allah preserve him] says, “Many Islamic countries are ruled by Muslims in line with their faith and the teaching of the Qur’an and Hadeeth. They can hear the call to prayer, they are not allowed to cohabit with the opposite sex and must marry if they want to start a family, they cannot drink alcohol, gamble, and so on. So those laws help Muslims live a more Islamic life. Offenses such as rape, pedophilia, and murder carry severe punishments because they are: (a) destructive crimes, (b) go against Islamic teachings, and (c) ruin the fabric of civil society. The British government is a secular government (i.e. not based on religion). It allows practices that Muslims are not allowed to indulge in, such as drinking alcohol, eating pork, partaking in interest transactions, and having sexual relations before marriage. However, Muslims do not have to partake in practices that go against their faith. There were many practices that took place in Makkah when the Prophet (peace be upon him) lived there for the first thirteen years of his Prophethood, the worst of those being idolatry. Other oppositions to Islam also took place (such as the killing of baby girls), but he persevered patiently with the people and did not abandon calling them to worship Allah alone and to good conduct and morals. He lived amongst them and had great concern for their spiritual well-being”. (2)

The aforementioned facts alone prove that the seal of the Prophets interacted with people well and lived among them; in fact, even before he received revelation, he was given the title Al-Ameen, which means “the trustworthy one.” Additionally, Shaikh Abu Khadeejah said, “There were many practices that took place in Makkah when the Prophet [peace be upon him] lived there for the first thirteen years of his Prophethood, the worst of those being idolatry. Other oppositions to Islam also took place (such as the killing of baby girls), but he persevered patiently with the people and did not abandon calling them to worship Allah alone and to good conduct and morals. He lived amongst them and had great concern for their spiritual well-being”. [end of quote]

Therefore, this is sufficient for the militant secularists, ideologues, demagogues, and rabble-rousers to understand that a practicing Muslim – one who understands the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah in the manner in which the Companions of Muhammad understood them – will not violate the rights of other members of society. He will also work to avoid engaging in any un-Islamic practices and maintain his Muslim identity, including his beliefs, mannerisms, dress, dealings, etc. Imaam Al-Albaanee [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “One aspect of Islam’s perfection is that it established rulings and divine regulations so that Muslims might maintain their Islamic identity and not – at any time – sway towards the (unIslamic) identities of other peoples”. (3)

As a result, followers of the authentic Sunnah are free of the separatism envisioned by the Militant Secularists and the Khaarijites (terrorists), because the Militant Secularists accuse Muslims of separatism when they refuse to engage in un-Islamic deeds, and the Khaarijies (terrorists) betray their fellow non-Muslim citizens by committing terrorist acts. Read the articles in the links below to educate yourself so that you are aware of the correct perspective on this subject matter – free of the evil intentions of Militant Secularists and Khaarijites (terrorists), as well as the ambiguities of Mr. Wintour and his ilk.

Mr. Wintour should understand that extremism (Ghuluww) or moderation is not left to the whims and desires of the people; rather, the Muslim is commanded to return to the understanding of Muhammad’s companions; otherwise, a person enters extremism or extreme sinful negligence in his beliefs, acts of worship, dealings, and understanding. Regarding the mention of Wahhabism and Salafiyyah, Mr. Wintour’s abysmal misunderstanding of this topic is demonstrated by the fact that only the grave worshippers and heretical Shi’ites use the term “Wahhaabee.” Shaikh. Dr. Abu Iyaadh [may Allah preserve him] said, “Welcome to Wahhabis.com. Muhammad bin Abd al-Wahhaab – who is commonly referred to as the founder of the ‘Wahhabi sect’, is the subject of much discussion, dispute, and controversy. Sectarian and (geo-)political agendas are behind much of the controversy and misconceptions around Ibn Abd al-Wahhab and his monotheistic movement in the 18th century (CE). The controversy is fuelled in part by anti-‘Wahhabi’ propaganda which comes mostly from the Sufis (of the Ottoman era and others), the Nusayree Baatinees (of Syria), the Rafidah Shiah of Iran (and in the past the Ba’thists of Iraq), and they have invested a great deal of money and effort (including at state-levels) to push anti-‘Wahhabi’ propaganda. Further, contemporary extremist and terrorist groups are associated with Ibn Abd al-Wahhaab and the ‘Wahhabis’ because factions of them (not all of them) attempt to support and justify their activities by appealing to Ibn Abd al-Wahhaab. This website aims to present the writings of Ibn Abd al-Wahhaab and various biographical accounts to enable an accurate depiction of the history of his reform movement, his beliefs, and interactions with the leaders and common Muslims of his time”. http://www.wahhabis.com/index.cfm [End of quote]

Indeed, everybody who views this page recognises Mr. Wintour’s ignorance of this subject and that he is a blind follower who repeats Wahhaabee without understanding the truth behind them.

Regarding Mr. Wintour’s mention of Salafiyyah, the clarification provided by Shaikh, Dr. Abu Iyaadh, is sufficient. The Shaikh says: “Welcome to Salafis.com! There is much talk regarding Salafis and Salafiyyah in books, journals, the press, and various other media. The “Salafi Way” is not something new, invented, or innovated. By definition, it is the pure Islaam which the Companions of Allaah’s Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) held onto. When the sects foretold by the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) appeared, those who took knowledge from the Companions began to verbally express the obligation of holding onto the way of (السلف الصالح), “The Righteous Predecessors.” From such statements is the saying of Imaam al-Zuhree (d. 124H), “Adhere to the tracks of the Salaf, even if the people reject you. And beware of the opinions of men, even if they beautify it for you with speech.” Hence, Salafiyyah is not a later innovation. Salafis are the target of sectarian bias and bigotry for many factions, from them the Raafidah, Soofiyyah, Kharijites and Takfiris, the blind-followers of the madhaahib, Secularists, Modernists, and many others. As such there is a lot of propaganda in the field which is unfortunately entered into what is claimed to be “objective research”. To make matters more confusing is the presence of numerous orientations falsely ascribing to Salafiyyah despite their deviations from it in their foundations and methodologies. Many of the takfiris, and Khariji groups make this false ascription. This adds another layer of confusion to anyone wanting to research and understand Salafiyyah, and leads to Salafis being wrongly attributed with the iniquities of the Takfiris and Kharijites. In light of all of these realities, this website aims to provide relevant information and critical evaluation and analysis of the various views and opinions that are being scattered in books, journals, blogs, websites, audios, and videos in relation to “Salafis” and “Salafiyyah”. http://www.salafis.com/ [End of quote]

(1)

Jason Burke wrote:

Let’s start by stating that nobody has the authority to change the names and descriptions that Allah has given to the various individuals and groups among human beings and the Jinn. Al-Allaamah Saalih Al-Fawzaan [may Allah preserve him] said: Indeed, Allaah created the Jinn and humanity and endowed them with the intrinsic ability to identify Tawheed, submit to Him, and worship Him alone. However, some of them believed, while others did not.

Allah said:

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُمۡ فَمِنكُمۡ ڪَافِرٌ۬ وَمِنكُم مُّؤۡمِنٌ۬‌ۚ

He it is Who created you, then some of you are disbelievers and some of you are believers.

While Shaytaan and the proponents of evil wish them disbelief and evil, Allah wishes them Imaan and well-being. Allah [The Exalted] said:

Allaah wishes to make clear (what is lawful and what is unlawful) to you and to show you the ways of those before you, and accept your repentance, and Allaah is All-Knower, All-Wise. Allaah wishes to accept your repentance, but those who follow their lusts, wish that you (believers) should deviate tremendously away from the Right Path.

And because of this, Allah sent the Messengers, revealed the Scriptures, and established His Proofs; as a result, there are people who choose to accept the truth and embrace faith, as well as others who choose to reject the truth and embrace unbelief. Indeed, Allah has established the distinctions between believers and unbelievers in this life and the hereafter, and He forbade that the two groups be made equal. And in this life and the hereafter, Allah has outlined recompense and judgment for each of the two groups. He has given each group a distinctive name, such as Mumin for the believer, Kaafir for the disbeliever, Barrun for the upright (righteous one), Faajir for the evildoer, Mushrik for the polytheist, Muwahhid for the monotheist, Faasiq for a sinner, Munaafiq for the hypocrite, Mutee’un the obedient one and Aasee for the disobedient one. He also prohibited equating these disparate identities and attitudes. Allah said:

Or do those who earn evil deeds think that We shall hold them equal with those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds?!

Allah said:

Shall We treat those who believe (in the Oneness of Allaah Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, as Mufsidoon (those who associate partners in worship with Allah and commit crimes) on earth?! Or shall We treat the Muttaqoon (the pious ones), as the Fujjaar (criminals, disbelievers, wicked, etc)?!

That is to say, we have not made them equal since doing so would not comport with Allah’s justice.

Should we renounce the terms Kufr (disbelief), Shirk (ascribing partners to Allah), Kuffaar (unbelievers), and Mushrikeen (polytheists) found in the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and the Books of the Islamic creed? This will be against Allah and His Messenger and a violation of the Book and Sunnah. We will be associated with those who distort the Book of their Lord and the Sunnah of their Messenger if we alter the true meanings of the Shari’ah terms. What defence is then available for (such a crime)? Is it to please the unbelievers? As long as we maintain our religion, the non-believers will never be happy with us. Allah said:

وَدُّواْ لَوۡ تَكۡفُرُونَ كَمَا كَفَرُواْ فَتَكُونُونَ سَوَآءً۬‌ۖ

They wish that you reject Faith, as they have rejected (Faith), and thus that you all become equal (like one another). (2)

Regarding Jason’s claim that “Sudan will also ban the practice of takfir by which a Muslim can be declared apostate by another and so subject to a potential death sentence,” the statement definitely needs clarification and detail because while it is true that a Muslim can declare another Muslim to be apostate and subject to the prescribed punishment, the question is who among the Muslims has the authority to do so! Indeed, Ahlus Sunnah are fully aware that Takfeer can only be made by the upright scholars of the Islamic world—those who fear Allah and refrain from speaking unless they are well-informed. Islam’s Unapologetic Position On Apostasy – [Unveiling Another Path of The Criminals and Opponents of The Messengers]: https://salafidawahmanchester.com/2022/06/11/islams-unapologetic-position-on-apostasy-unveiling-another-path-of-the-criminals-and-opponents-of-the-messengers/

Regarding the quote from Jason that reads, “The Takfir of others became a threat to the security and safety of society,” it is clear that the act of false (or unjustified) Takfir against a Muslim is a dangerous matter. All Muslim rulers must take action to shut this terrible door in order to stop the contemporary Khaarijites from using Sayyid Qutb’s, Usama Bin Ladin’s, and Ayman Az-Zawahiri’s evil ideology to overthrow Muslim governments and incite violence.

Shaikh Falaah Ismaa’eel [may Allah have mercy upon him] stated: In order to comprehend their danger, it merits noting what Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] wished if he were to encounter them and what he would do to them, despite the fact that they hail from the Ummah and from the people of the Qiblah, that he would slaughter them in a manner comparable to that of Aad and Thamood; especially when one considers what Allah’s Messenger said concerning dogs, “Had dogs not been a community amongst the communities, I would have commanded that all of them be killed”. (see footnote I) Therefore, a sensible person examines and considers what the Messenger of guidance and mercy wanted to do to these Khawaarij, notwithstanding their commitment to worship, prayer, fasting, and Qur’anic recitation, in comparison to what he prevented himself and others from doing to dogs. Indeed, this is strong evidence of the peril posed by the persistence of this idea [i.e., Fasle Takfeer] and this kind of people in the Ummah [i.e., the Khawaarij], since they weaken the Ummah and keep it preoccupied with [internal issues, strife, etc.] (3)

Footnote I: “Had dogs not been a community amongst the communities, I would have commanded that all of them be killed”.

Al-Khattaabee [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “This statement means that the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] hated that a community among the communities and a species among the creation would vanish until they all ceased to exist because, in reality, none of Allah’s creatures exist without some kind of purpose or benefit guiding their existence. Since there is no way to eliminate all of them in this situation, kill the evil ones among them – the black dog – leave the others so that you might use them as guard dogs”. [An Excerpt from Ma’aalim As-Sunan 4/132] [NB: Only the authorities in the Uk are allowed to take the life of an animal and any individual who does so will be found guilty of animal cruelty]

Dogs we can keep: Abdullah Ibn Umar [may Allaah be pleased with him and his father] said, “Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, ‘Whoever keeps a dog, except a dog for herding livestock or a dog that is trained for hunting, two qiraats [i.e. great reward] will be deducted from his reward each day’”. [Bukhaari 5163 and Muslim 1574]

Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “As a result, there is no need to have a dog to guard a house if it is in the heart of a metropolis. Therefore, having a dog for this reason in such circumstances is forbidden and unlawful, and it reduces a person’s reward by one or two qiraats each day. However, it is acceptable to have a dog to protect the home and those living there if the house is in a rural area and nobody is home. It is more crucial to protect a household’s residents than its animals or agricultural produce”. [An Excerpt from Majmoo Fataawa Ibn Uthaymeen 4/246]

The Hunting Dog

Allah [The Most High] said:

They ask you [O Muhammad)] what is lawful for them [as food]. Say: “Lawful unto you are At-Tayyibat [all kind of Halal (lawful-good) foods which Allah has made lawful (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables, and fruits, etc.)]. And those beasts and birds of prey which you have trained as hounds, training and teaching them [to catch] in the manner as directed to you by Allaah; so eat of what they catch for you, but pronounce the Name of Allah over it, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Swift in reckoning”. [Surah Al-Maa’idah. Aayah 4]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: Indeed, Allah declared the prey of the untrained hound to be dead meat and forbidden to consume, whereas He declared the prey of the trained hound to be permissible. This is evidence of the nobility of knowledge as Allah did not declare any prey other than that of the trained hound to be lawful. The trained and untrained hound would have been the same if it weren’t for the fact that knowledge and teaching have a unique distinguished virtue and nobility. A Precise Affair Regarding The Statement “Prohibitions Related to Etiquettes Takes The Ruling of Karaahah”

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated in Ar-Risaalah Al-Lateefah:

“The Asl (fundamental principle or initial ruling) regarding commands in the Book (i.e. the Qur’aan) and the Sunnah is that they (necessitate) Wujoob (i.e. obligation), unless if an evidence to (show) that it is Al-Istihbaab (i.e. a recommendation) or Al-Ibaaha (i.e. a permissible). And the Asl (fundamental principle or initial ruling) regarding prohibitions is that they (necessitate) Tahreem (i.e. forbidden), unless if an evidence show that it is Al-Karaahah (i.e. disliked)”. [end of quote]

Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saalih Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] was asked: Virtuous Shaikh, he (i.e. the question) has one last question, and he says: “How do we make a judgement on the Prophet’s [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] prohibitions as to whether they are [نواهي تحريم – prohibitions that necessitates that something is forbidden] or [نواهي كراهية – prohibitions that necessitate that something is disliked]?

Answer: This is also a matter of differing among the Usooliyyeen as to whether a prohibition necessitates that something is forbidden or disliked; some of them see that it necessitates something forbidden and some of them see that it necessitates something disliked, and some of them elaborated on the affair saying that if the prohibition is related to acts of worship, then it takes the ruling of something forbidden, and if the prohibition is related to ettiquettes, then it takes the ruling of something disliked. In reality (or in fact), there is no comprehensive rule for every prohibition that is reported from the Prophet [may peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him and his family], because indeed you come across prohibitions on which the scholars pass the judgement of Karaahah (i.e. disliked) and other prohibitions on which the scholars pass the judgement of Tahreem (i.e. forbidden). So, based on this, a person examines every prohibition specifically (in and of itself) as to whether it necessitates Tahreem or Kiraahah according to the Shariah principles. (see footnote a)

In summary, the answer is that we say: the scholars – in the affair of the prohibitions- have three statements: The first statement is that a prohibition takes the ruling of Tahreem absolutely; and based on this, whoever diverts a prohibition from being other than a prohibition is asked for evidence. The second statement is that a prohibition takes the ruling of Kiraahah absolutely, and based on this, whoever directs a prohibition to the ruling of Tahreem is asked for evidence. The third statement; the detail explanation is that if the prohibition is related to etiquettes and manners, then it takes the ruling of Kiraahah; and if related to acts of worship, then it takes the ruling of Tahreem (after examined specifically based on the Shariah principles). The Life of Imaam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhaab and So called Wahhabism – [Brief response to article of a Journalist at Alarabiya News]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

The Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said:

[إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَبْعَثُ لِهَذِهِ الأُمَّةِ عَلَى رَأْسِ كُلِّ مِائَةِ سَنَةٍ مَنْ يُجَدِّدُ لَهَا دِينَهَا – Allaah will raise for this Ummah at the end of every hundred years the one who will revive its religion for it]. (1)

“Allaah will raise for this Ummah”- meaning the Ummatul Ijaabah [i.e. the Muslims]. “At the end of every hundred years”- Meaning at the end of every hundred years when there is little knowledge of the Islamic legislation and the authentic Prophetic Tradition, whilst ignorance and religious innovation is rife. “One who will revive its religion for it”- Meaning a scholar who is alive and well known. He will clarify the authentic Prophetic Tradition and distinguish it from the religious innovations. knowledge will be abundant again and its adherents will be aided, and the proponents of religious will be overcome and degraded. This reviver is non else but a scholar who has sound understanding of the religious sciences that deal with acts of worship, the underlying wisdoms of the religion and the texts that deal with beliefs of the heart. (2)

There is no doubt that Imaam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhaab [may Allaah have mercy upon him] was one of those revivers, therefore, we must make certain affairs very clear whenever someone either speaks about him or speaks about his relationship with the Saudi Kings of his era [may Allaah have mercy upon them and preserve those amongst them who are alive]. Therefore, we intend to present observations on an article – written by Abdulrahman al Rashed at Alarabiya news – titled: “Wahhabism, colonialism, and ancient Saudi Arabia”.

[a] Abdulrahman stated: “Today, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates its Founding Day. Since that day almost 300 years ago, Saudi Arabia’s long, great history has been filled with moments of prosperity but also moments of state collapse. Because I am an avid history reader, I find that our yesterdays can help us understand our today and predict our tomorrow”. [End of quote]

Response to the above quote

Firstly, regarding the term Wahhabism, visit Wahhabis.Com | History and Beliefs- By Shaikh Abu Iyaad [may Allaah preserve him]. http://www.wahhabis.com/

Secondly, celebrations in Islam are not to be innovated. Verdict of upright elder Saudi Scholars – Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz and Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saalih Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon them]: https://salafidawahmanchester.com/2021/10/23/official-holidays-and-festivals-that-are-tantamount-to-bidah-evil-or-corruption-mawlid-national-day-celebrations-israa-wal-miraaj-celebrations-chaharshanbeh-suri/

[b] Abdulrahman stated: The commemoration of Founding Day inevitably raises several debates: was the Saudi state a necessity three centuries ago? Is it true it was founded with the aim of fighting polytheism (“shirk” in Arabic)? Has it really never been colonized by major powers? How did it deal with international conflicts? In 1727, the foundations for a new state were built in the town of Diriyah in the Arab Peninsula, at the time home to dozens of microstates. There had been no central state established since the end of the Rashidun Caliphate. Then came Muhammad bin Saud, successfully eliminating the microstates in independent towns and cities and creating a new, large state. Fleeing the nearby town of Al Uyaynah, Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab sought protection with bin Saud, knowing only he could shield him from harm. Historically, Sheikh Abd-al-Wahhab played an influential role as a religious reformist and as one of Imam Muhammad bin Saud’s men. However, his biography and role were manipulated in the following eras. Najd and the Arabian Peninsula were portrayed as lands of semi-polytheists of which he was the savior. His biography was recounted with such exaggeration it came close to match the biography of the Prophet (PBUH): his call for oneness, his ostracization and migration from Al Uyaynah to Diriyah, his call for Islam, and the wars he waged in its name. The version closer to reality, though, is that the Sheikh was a scholar, and the peoples of Najd and the Peninsula were not polytheists. Abdulrahman then stated: The glorification of his story aimed not at sanctifying the Sheikh himself, but rather those clerics that came after him. Certain groups exaggerated his story in a bid to bestow upon themselves legitimacy to take or partake in power. The state did not, in fact, extend its authority to the different parts of the Arabian Peninsula until after the passing of Muhammad bin Saud and his successor, Abdulaziz bin Saud. Throughout his rule of four decades, Abdulaziz had not given the Sheikh a role or used his assistance. It was in that period that the state prospered, then it expanded north toward Iraq and Syria under the third King, Saud bin Abdulaziz, becoming the largest Arab state since the Abbasid rule. The Life & Struggles of Imām Muhammad ibn ‘Abdul-Wahhāb in the Pursuit & Spread of Sunnah by Abu Khadeejah

[c] Abdulrahman stated: With the rise of the extremist movement in the last few decades, a narrative sanctifying the Sheikh and inflating his role prevailed. The extremists prohibited the suggestion of any different narrative. In his Ph.D. dissertation, entitled “The History of Najd Prior to the Wahhabis”, Dr. Uwaidah Metaireek Al-Juhany recounts that period during which Najd was claimed to be a polytheist land. As any dissenting opinion would likely be met with persecution, Al-Juhany requested that the University of Washington hold off the publishing of his dissertation for another five years. He later found a translation of his dissertation was published in Beirut in a book under his name. In the thesis, which is still deemed an important reference about that era, we discover that the establishment of a central state to unite the dozens of microstates in the fragmented Arabian Peninsula aimed not at spreading Islam, in lands where everyone was Muslim. Instead, the goal was to stop aggressions, looting, and famines in the microstates, mired by conflicts over power and resources, and build a central state instead, as in everywhere else in the world. [End of quote]

Response to the above quote

Firstly, the extremist movements are well-known to the upright callers to pure Islamic monotheism and amonsgt these extremists are the Qutubiyyah, the the Muslim brotherhood and others. Thirdly, as for declaring any Muslim land a polytheist land, then indeed, this is the statement of the Takfeeris and their mentor Sayyid Qubt. Read here by Shaikh Abu Iyaad [may Allaah preserve him] regarding the founder of contemporary Takfeeri movements. http://www.sayyidqutb.com/

[d] Abdulrahman stated: What about the three centuries in which, it is said, the state was not spared colonization, unlike the other countries of the region? There may have been no colonization as in the Levant by European armies, but the Ottomans did invade the land for many years. They colonized large parts of it for decades and were either fighting directly or supplying weapons to other parties in Al-Ahsa, Hijaz, the north, and the south. The English were also present, symbolically, directing the forces of the Sharif of Mecca. They were all driven out during the 30 years of unification battles, which, contrary to popular belief, were not only internal battles. Power and balance in international relations were a delicate process, especially in the pre-WWII era. The British and Germans, and to a lesser degree, the Soviets, were competing to bring Saudi Arabia aboard their alliances. Thus, King Abdulaziz, founder of the third Saudi state, sought to establish a balanced relationship with the major powers, but the British Empire was still the most dominant in the region. [3] Setting The Record Straight – [Salafiyyoon, Their Scholars and Elder Teachers Constantly Wage War Against Illegal Partisanship – Internally and Externally]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Illegal Partisanship Scrutinised – By Al-Allaamah Rabee, Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah and Al-Allaamah Abdur Rahmaan Bin Yahyah Al-Mu’allimee

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khali [may Allaah preserve him] stated: Bigoted partisanship for a particular idea that opposes the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger; allegiance and enmity based upon it, this is Tahazzub (illegal partisanship). This is Tahazzub even if is not (done under an) organisation. To formulate deviated ideas and gather the people on it, this is a hizb, regardless whether it is (done under an) organisation or not. (1)

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Madkhalee [may Allaah preserve him] stated: After speaking about those – amongst the different factions of the Jahmiyah, the Khawaarij, the Rawaafid and the Qadariyyah, and the reason behind such Takfeer – who excommunicate (Muslims) based on falsehood , Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated, “On the opposite side of these people who make Takfeer (a) based on falsehood, there are a people who do not know the creed of Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jamaa’ah as it should be; or they know some of it and are ignorant of some. And perhaps what they know of it, they do not clarify for the people, rather they conceal it. They do they forbid innovations in religious affairs- neither censure the proponents of innovation in religious affairs nor chastise them; rather they may censure speech regarding the Sunnah and the fundamental principles of the religion – completely – and not differentiate between what the true adherents to the Prophetic tradition say and what proponents of religious innovations and schism say; or they would affirm all their differing paths in a manner similar to how the scholars would affirm the different opinions related to affairs of Ijtihaad (b) in which difference of opinion is justified (or allowed). This path has overwhelmed many of the Murji’ah, some of the jurists, those pursuing the path of asceticism and the philosophers, just as it has overwhelmed – first and foremost – many amongst the people of desires and rhetoric. Both these paths are perverted, outside the Kitaab [i.e. The Qur’aan] and the Prophetic tradition”. [End of Quote] (2)

After quoting the statement of Shaikhul Islaam, Al-Allaamah Rabee stated, “I say, may Allaah have mercy on Ibn Tamiyyah. Indeed, he clarified the situation of the people of his era and those before them, then what if he saw the situation of many amongst the Al-Jamaa’aat Al-Hizbiyyah Wal-Bid’iyyah [The Groups of Illegal Partisanship and Innovations in religious affairs] who ascribe themselves to true adherents to the Prophetic tradition and take cover behind him- in particular – to promote their falsehoods. What if he saw them whilst they have definitely gathered between the paths of the two groups- the khawaarij and those who follow their way in pronouncing Takfeer in the subject matter of Al-Haakimiyyah and the way of the Mur’jiah in the manner they approach the affair of people who are upon the major and numerous innovations in religious affairs, and equating innovation in religion to those affairs of the religion in which Ijtihaad is justified, whose people are rewarded alongside a refutation against their mistakes. In the view of these people, the leaders of Misguidance and innovation in religion are just like the Imaams of Guidance and Sunnah. (3)

Finally, Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyah stated: Rather what is obligatory is to clarify that which Allaah sent His Messengers with and (revealed) in His Books – propagate that which the Messengers brought from Allaah and fulfil the covenant which Allaah took from the scholars. Therefore, it is obligatory to know that which the Messengers brought, believe in it, propagate it, call to it, striving with it, weigh up all that which the people embark upon – (statements, actions, religious fundamentals and subsidiary issues pertaining to the apparent actions of the Limbs and affairs related to actions of the heart)- under the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger; neither following desires (through) customs, a school of law, a religious order, a leader or a predecessor; neither following conjecture through a weak hadeeth nor corrupt analogy, regardless whether it is an analogy that offers some degree of certainty or not; nor blindly following someone whom it is not obligated to follow his statement and deed, because indeed Allaah -in His Book – censured those who follow conjecture and that which their souls desire, whilst they abandon that which came to them from their Lord of Guidance. (4)

Illegal Partisanship Amongst Seekers of Knowledge and Teachers Prohibited

The text of this reminder was quoted by Ustaadh Abu Ukaasha [may Allaah preserve him and all the teachers] on Saturday during the one day conference in Stoke On Trent- that Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said:

ﻭﻟﻴﺲ ﻟﻠﻤﻌﻠﻤﻴﻦ ﺃﻥ ﻳﺤﺰﺑﻮﺍ ﺍﻟﻨﺎﺱ
ﻭﻳﻔﻌﻠﻮﺍ ﻣﺎ ﻳﻠﻘﻲ ﺑﻴﻨﻬﻢ ﺍﻟﻌﺪﺍﻭﺓ ﻭﺍﻟﺒﻐﻀﺎﺀ،
ﺑﻞ ﻳﻜﻮﻧﻮﻥ ﻣﺜﻞ ﺍﻷﺧﻮﺓ ﺍﻟﻤﺘﻌﺎﻭﻧﻴﻦ ﻋﻠﻰ
ﺍﻟﺒﺮ ﻭﺍﻟﺘﻘﻮﻱ ﻛﻤﺎ ﻗﺎﻝ ﺗﻌﺈﻟﻰ

It not allowed for the teachers to initiate (illegal) partisanship between the people and do that which would cause enmity and hatred between them; but rather they should be brothers who cooperate upon righteousness and piety, as Allaah [The Exalted] said: [وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَىٰ ۖ وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ – Help you one another in Al-Birr and At-Taqwa [virtue, righteousness and piety]; but do not help one another in sin and transgression]. [Surah Al-Maa’idah. Aayah 2]

It is not allowed for anyone of them to receive a pledge from anyone to be in agreement with him in everything he wants – having allegiance to the one he is allied to and enmity against the one he harbours enmity, and whoever does this is similar to Genghis Khan and his ilk (in this affair), who take as their loyal friends the one in agreement with them and the one who oppose them as a rebellious enemy; rather it is obligated on them and their followers (i.e. the teachers) to fulfil the covenant of Allaah and His Messenger by obeying Allaah and His Messenger, doing that which Allaah and His Messenger have commanded, declare unlawful that which Allaah and His Messenger have declared unlawful, and preserve the rights of the teachers in the manner commanded by Allaah and His Messenger. So, if one’s teacher is oppressed, he should help him; but if the teacher is the oppressor, he should not aid him in his act of oppression; rather he forbids him from it, as it has been established in the authentic books of hadeeth that the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one. People asked, “O Allah’s Messenger! It is all right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?” The Prophet said, “By preventing him from oppressing others.” [Saheeh Al-Bukhaari 2444]

If an argument and dispute occurs between a teacher and another teacher, or between a student and another student, it is not permissible for anyone to help one of them until he knows the truth – neither to aid him based on ignorance nor desires; rather he he examines the affair, so if the truth becomes clear to him, he helps the one who deserves to be helped (due to him being upon the truth) against the one upon error – regardless whether the one who deserves to be helped is one of his companions or the companion of someone else, or whether the one upon error is one of his companions or the companion of someone else. Therefore, the aim is only to worship Allaah alone, obedience to Allaah’s Messenger, adherence to truth and establishment of justice. Allaah [The Exalted] said:

يا أيها الذين آمنوا كونوا قوامين بالقسط شهداء لله ولو على أنفسكم أو الوالدين والأقربين، إن يكن غنياً أو فقيراً فالله أولى بهما، فلا تتبعوا الهوى أن تعدلوا وإن تلووا أو تعرضوا فإن الله كان بما تعملون خبيراً

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah; even though it be against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, be he rich or poor, Allah is a Better Protector to both (than you). So follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you may avoid justice, and if you distort your witness or refuse to give it, verily, Allah is Ever Well-Acquainted with what you do. [[Surah An-Nisaa. Ayah 135] (5)

Al-Allaamah Abdur Rahmaan Bin Yahyah Al-Mu’allimee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: In this era of ours, you even see a woman who comes across an affair related to the religion – in which there is a difference of opinion between the mother of the believers Aa’isha and others amongst the companions [may Allaah be pleased with all of them], so she defends Aa’Isha’s position solely due to the fact that she is a woman like her. So, when she presumes and then claims that Aa’Isha is correct and those men who oppose her position are mistaken, then in this is an affirmation of Aa’Isha’s virtue over those men, which then becomes a virtue for women unrestrictedly and she receives some of that. And through this appears – to you – the underlying reasons behind the illegal partisanship of an Arab to an Arab, a Persian to a Persian, a Turk to a Turk and other than that. (6)

Knows Perfectly Well That Truth Has Been Conveyed, But Mocks at The Caller, Saying, “He Cannot Express Himself”

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allaah [The Most High] informed us in Surah Ash-Shu’araa about Fir’awn [may Allaah curse him] and Musa [peace be upon him]: [قَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِينَ- Fir’aun (Pharaoh) said: “And what is the Lord of the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?] [ قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَآ‌ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ – Musa (Moses) said: “Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, if you seek to be convinced with certainty] [قَالَ لِمَنۡ حَوۡلَهُ ۥۤ أَلَا تَسۡتَمِعُونَ -Fir’aun (Pharaoh) said to those around: “Do you not hear (what he (Musa) says)?] [قَالَ رَبُّكُمۡ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآٮِٕكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ- Musa (Moses) said: “Your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers!]; [قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُرۡسِلَ إِلَيۡكُمۡ لَمَجۡنُونٌ۬- Fir’aun (Pharaoh) said: “Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!].

Allaah [The Most High] informed us that Fir’awn said: [أَمۡ أَنَا۟ خَيۡرٌ۬ مِّنۡ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى هُوَ مَهِينٌ۬ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُبِينُ – Am I not better than this one [Musa (Moses)], who is Mahin (has no honour nor any respect, and is weak and despicable) and can scarcely express himself clearly?][Surah Az-Zukhruf’ Ayah 52]

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “May Allaah [The Most High] disfigure Fir’awn, because indeed he intended Musa by this description, even though Musa is one whom Allaah [The Most High] spoke to directly and one given high status by Allaah [The Most High]; however Fir’awn thought that he is honoured and Musa is dishonoured and disgraced. He also proclaimed that in addition to this, Musa cannot even speak clearly because he is not eloquent! However, Firawn’s insult against Musa that Musa cannot even express himself is not something blameworthy at all, because he was able to convey the message, even though he used to encounter some difficulty when speaking”. The Sharee’ah Ruling On Condolences, Specified Days of Mourning etc

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allaah [The Exalted] said: [إِنَّكَ لَا تَہۡدِى مَنۡ أَحۡبَبۡتَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَہۡدِى مَن يَشَآءُ‌ۚ وَهُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِٱلۡمُهۡتَدِينَ – Indeed, (O Muhammad), you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He knows best those who are the guided]. [Surah Al-Qasas. Aayah 56]

Narrated Al-Musaiyab: When Abu Talib was on his death bed, Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] came to him and found with him, Abu Jahl and Abdullah bin Abi Umaiya bin Al-Mughira. Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “O uncle! Say: None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, a sentence with which I will intervene on your behalf in the presence of Allaah (i.e. on yawmul qiyaamah).” So, Abu Jahl and Abdullah bin Abi Umaiya said to Abu Talib, “Will you now turn away from religion of `Abdul Muttalib?” Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) kept on inviting him to say that sentence while the other two kept on repeating their sentence before him till Abu Talib said – as the last thing he said to them- “I am on the religion of Abdul Muttalib,” and refused to say: None has the right to be worshipped except Allah. So, Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “By Allah, I will keep on asking Allah’s forgiveness for you unless I am forbidden (by Allah) to do so.” So Allah revealed: [مَا كَانَ لِلنَّبِىِّ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَن يَسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ لِلۡمُشۡرِڪِينَ وَلَوۡ ڪَانُوٓاْ أُوْلِى قُرۡبَىٰ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمۡ أَنَّہُمۡ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ – It is not befitting for the Prophet (ﷺ) and those who believe that they should invoke (Allah) for forgiveness for pagans, even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the Fire (because they died in a state of disbelief)]. [Surah at-Tawbah. Aayaah 113]
And then Allah revealed especially about Abu Talib: [إِنَّكَ لَا تَہۡدِى مَنۡ أَحۡبَبۡتَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَہۡدِى مَن يَشَآءُ‌ۚ – Verily! You (O, Muhammad) guide not whom you like, but Allah guides whom He will]. [Saheeh Al-Bukhaari. Number 4772]

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] commented on the Aayah:

[مَا كَانَ لِلنَّبِىِّ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَن يَسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ لِلۡمُشۡرِڪِينَ وَلَوۡ ڪَانُوٓاْ أُوْلِى قُرۡبَىٰ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمۡ أَنَّہُمۡ أَصۡحَـٰبُ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ – It is not befitting for the Prophet (ﷺ) and those who believe that they should invoke (Allah) for forgiveness for pagans, even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the Fire (because they died in a state of disbelief)] – Meaning, it is neither befitting nor something good for the Prophet and those who believe in him “to seek forgiveness for the polytheists”, meaning, for those who disbelieve in Allah and worship others besides Him, “even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are dwellers of the Fire (because they died in a state of disbelief)”, because indeed seeking forgiveness for them in such a situation is an error and carries no benefit. Therefore, it is not befitting for the Prophet and the believers to do this, because they (i.e. their relatives and others) died whilst ascribing partners to Allah in worship, or if known that they died in such a state, they are deserving of punishment and it is inevitable that they are to abide in hell forever- neither the intercession of those whom (Allaah has allowed to) intercede nor those who seek forgiveness for them will benefit. Furthermore, it is obligated on the Prophet and those who believe with him to agree with their Lord in what pleases Him and what angers Him. (1)

Anas [may Allaah be pleased with him] said, “A young Jewish boy used to serve the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] and he became sick; so the Prophet went to visit him. He sat near his head and asked him to accept Islam. The boy looked at his father, who was sitting there; the latter told him, “Obey Abul-Qasim” and the boy submitted to Allaah in Islam. The Prophet came out saying, “All praise is due to Allaah Who saved the boy from the Hell-fire.” (2)

Al-Allaamah Zayd Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khali [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “There is proof in this hadeeth about visiting the sick even if he is an unbeliever. And if visiting him is accompanied with inviting him to accept Islam, then this is radiance upon radiance, as the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] visited the boy who used to serve him and invited him to Islam, so Allaah wanted good for him in the Afterlife and saved him from the hell fire by his submission to Allaah in Islam. In this is proof that one cannot be saved from the fire except through entry into Islam. (3)

Burying a Deceased non-Muslim

Ali [may Allaah be pleased with him] reported: I said to the Prophet (ﷺ): “Your old and astray uncle has died”. He said, “Go and bury your father”, I said, “I will not bury him, indeed he died as a polytheist”. He said, “Go and bury him and then do not do anything until you come to me”. So I went, buried him and came to him. He ordered me (to take a bath), so I took a bath, and he supplicated for me with supplications that were more pleasing to me than everything on the earth”.

Some benefits – from this hadeeth – mentioned by Imaam Al-Albaanee [may Allaah have mercy upon him]: It is legislated (in Islam) for a Muslim to undertake the burial of his polytheist relative, and that does not contradict the hatred he has for him due to his state of Shirk (i.e. because his relative ascribes partners to Allaah in worship). Do you not see that Ali [may Allaah be pleased with him] initially refrained from burying his father based on his statement, “Indeed, he died as one who ascribes partners to Allaah in worship”, whilst thinking that undertaking his burial in such a situation is included in the forbidden types of loyalty mentioned in Allaah’s statement:

[لَا تَتَوَلَّوْا قَوْمًا غَضِبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ – Take not as allies the people who incurred the Wrath of Allah].

So, when the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] repeated the command to him, he hastened to comply with it, and left what he held at first. So, obedience is that a person abandons his opinion due to a command of his Prophet [peace and blessings be upon him]. It appears to me that a child burying his polytheist father or mother (after they’ve passed away) is the last thing that a child has to do in terms of good companionship with a polytheist father (or mother) in this worldly life. As for after the burial, he does not have the right to supplicate or seek forgiveness for him due to the clear statement of Allaah [The Exalted]:

[مَا كَانَ لِلنَّبِىِّ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَن يَسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ لِلۡمُشۡرِڪِينَ وَلَوۡ ڪَانُوٓاْ أُوْلِى قُرۡبَىٰ – – It is not befitting for the Prophet (ﷺ) and those who believe that they should invoke (Allah) for forgiveness for pagans, even though they be of kin…]

And when it is the case this is the affair, then what is the situation of those who invoke for mercy and forgiveness – in newspapers and magazines – for some of the unbelievers in the death announcements for a few dirhams! Therefore, let him who fears Allaah take care of his Hereafter. (4)

Shaikh Abdul Waahid Abu Khadeejah [may Allaah preserve him] quotes Imaam Al-Albaanee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] who also stated: “I say: from this you come to know the error of some of the Muslims today who invoke the mercy of Allah and His pleasure upon some of the non-Muslims. And this is something being done plentifully by some [Muslim] journalists. Indeed I have heard that one of the heads of the Arabs who is well known for religiosity invoked the mercy of Allah upon Stalin the communist; both himself and his ideology is the from the severest, most vehement enemies of Islam! And that was a speech delivered in a radio broadcast by this leader upon the occasion of the death of Stalin. And it is not surprising that this ruling is unknown to the likes of this person. However, what is surprising is that some of the Islamic callers have also fallen into this, wherein one of them said in a treatise, “May Allah have mercy upon the [deceased] Bernard Shaw…” And some trustworthy narrators mentioned to me that one of the sheikhs would pray the funeral prayer over those who died from the esoteric (Bātinee) sect of Isma’īlees whilst he himself believes that they are non-Muslims, due to the fact that they don’t believe in the Prayer (Salāh) or the Hajj and they worship a human being! Yet alongside all this he prays over their deceased out of hypocrisy and wishing to impress them. And to Allah is the complaint and His aid is sought”. Condolence to a non-Muslim

Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: There are three views; some scholars prohibited and some of permitted it, and some of them further explained that if the ruler sees a benefit in repelling evil and bringing about good, it is permissible for him to do that by congratulating, visiting the sick, condoling, or the like. If he considers that to be good for Muslims – to repel the evil of the enemies and the like, and they (i.e. the rulers) do not intend (or aim) to agree with their falsehood (i.e. not intentionally uttering or doing anything that opposes Islam whilst congratulating the unbelievers or sending condolences etc); but rather they intend (or aim) to benefit the Muslims, protect the Muslims from the plots of the enemies, eager to repel the harm (of the enemies) or so that the enemies accept Islam, then this is permissible. This is the statement that is based on the balanced path and the most upright (based on the Sharee’ah evidences), and that is to examine the affairs that will bring about welfare and the affairs that might cause harm. So, if affairs related to welfare necessitates that (i.e. to send condolences to the unbelievers), it is permissible to offer condolences, visit the sick and congratulate. Unless this is done to bring about welfare for the Muslims – neither out of loving falsehood nor hating truth, otherwise it is impermissible. And due to this, the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] visited the Jew who used to serve him when he was sick, whilst hoping that Allaah will guide him. So, when the Prophet invited him to Islam, he looked at his father, then his father said, “Obey Abul Qaasim” and thus he testified that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah and that Muhammad is Allaah’s Messenger. Allaah guided the Jew and the Prophet came out, saying, “All praise is due to Allaah Who saved the boy from the Hell-fire.” (5)

Al-Harb said: Ishaq narrated from Muslim Ibn Qutaybah, who narrated from Katheer Bin Abaan, who narrated from Ghaalib, who said that Al-Hasan said, “When you give condolence to a Dhimmi (i.e. a non-Muslim citizen of a Muslim State), say, ‘May nothing happen to you except good”.

Congratulations: The scholars warn against congratulations that might indicate that one is pleased with the religion of the unbelievers, such as the statement uttered by the ignorant people, “May Allaah protect or grant you wellbeing by way of your religion” and what is similar to this statement. As for the congratulation that is tantamount to uttering a specific statement of disbelief, this is unlawful based on the consensus of the scholars, such as congratulating them during their festivals, saying, “May this be a blessed holiday (or festival) for you” or “Congratulations on this holiday (i.e. related to religious practice, ritual, belief)”, because even if the one who utters this statement is safe from disbelief, it is one of the Muharramaat (unlawful deeds), and it is tantamount to congratulating him (i.e. a Christian) for prostrating to the Cross; rather this (congratulation) is a greater sin and more hateful – in the Sight of Allaah- than congratulating a person for drinking alcohol, committing murder, illegal sexual intercourse and what is similar. (6)

Specified National Days of Mourning On Behalf of Personalities

Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Indeed, it has become the custom of many Islamic countries in this era to specify – by way of an order- a period of three days of mourning, or less or more, for the kings and leaders together with the cessation (of work) in government departments and flags flown at half-mast. There is no doubt that this act is contrary to Muhammad’s Sharee’ah, and it contains an imitation of the enemies of Islam. (see footnote a) It has been reported in the authentic hadiths – transmitted from Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] – that prohibit specifying days of mourning and cautioning against it, except in the case of a wife, because she mourns her husband for four months and ten days. As for other than this in relation to specifying days of mourning, it is not allowed by the Sharee’ah, and there is nothing in the perfected Sharee’ah that allows it to be done for a king, leader, or other than them.

Indeed, during the lifetime of the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him], his son Ibrahim, his three daughters and other individuals died, but he did not specify days of mourning for them. During his time, leaders were killed, but he did not specify days of mourning for them, such as Zaid Bin Haritha, Jafar Bin Abi Talib and Abdullah Bin Rawahah.

Then the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] died- and he was the most honorable of the creation, the best of the Prophets, the master of the children of Adam, and the calamity that afflicts humankind because of his death is the greatest of calamities, but the Companions did not specify days of mourning for him. (see footnote b). Then Abu Bakr As-Siddiq died – and he is the best of the Companions, and the most honorable of creation after the Prophets, but days of mourning were not specified for him. Then Umar, Uthman and Ali were killed, and they are the best of creation after the Prophets and after Abu Bakr, but days of mourning were not specified for them. And likewise, all the Prophet’s companions passed away, but days of mourning were not specified for them. The Imaams of Islaam and the leaders of guidance amongst the scholars of the Taabi’een and those after them died, such as Sa’eed Ibn al-Musayyib, Ali Ibn Al-Husayn Zain Al-Aabideen and his son Muhammad Bin Ali, Umar Bin Abdil Azeez, Az-Zuhree, Imaam Abu Haneefah and his two companions, Imaam Maalik Bin Anas, Al-Awzaa’ee, Ath-Thawree, Imaam Ash-Shaafi’ee, Imaam Ahmad Bin Hanbal, Ishaaq Ibn Rahaawayh and other than them amongst the Imaams of knowledge and guidance; but days of mourning were not specified for them.

If this was good, the righteous predecessors would have preceded in doing so, and all good is in following them, and all evil is in opposing them. The Sunnah of Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him]-, which we have already mentioned- shows that what our righteous predecessors did by not specifying days of mourning for other than non-spouses is the truth and what is correct; and that what people do today by specifying days of mourning for kings and leaders is a matter that contradicts the pure Sunnah together with the many harms that it entails- the disruption of welfare and the imitation of the enemies of Islam. And due to this, one should know that what is obligated on the Muslim leaders and notables is to abandon specifying days of mourning and follow the path of our righteous predecessors – the Companions of the Prophet and those who followed their path. It is incumbent upon the people of knowledge to warn people of this, notify them and acquaint them with this, in fulfillment of the duty of advice, cooperation upon righteousness and piety. (7)

The Ruling On Minutes Silence – By The Scholars of Lajnah Daa’iamah

What some people do by standing for a while in silence – in order to pay homage to martyrs or dignitaries, or people of status, or to honor and show respect to their souls and specify mourning for them – is one of the evils and the initiated innovations in religious affairs, which was neither present in the Prophet’s era [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] nor during the era of the companions, nor during the era of the righteous predecessors. It is not in agreement with the etiquettes of pure Islamic Monotheism and sincerity in exalting Allaah; but rather some of the Muslims who are ignorant about their religion follow those – amongst the unbelievers – who innovated it, blindly follow them in their customs, exaggeration of the status of their leaders and notables -whether dead or alive. Indeed, the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] forbade us from imitating them. (see footnote c) And what is known in Islam from the rights of its adherents is to supplicate for the dead Muslims, give alms on their behalf, mention their virtues and refrain from speaking ill of them (see footnote d), and many of the etiquettes which Islam has clarified, urge the Muslim to observe them, whilst dealing with his brothers, living and dead; but it does not include standing in mourning with silence in order to pay homage to the martyrs or dignitaries; rather this is from that which the principles of Islam reject. (8)

Finally, we ask Allaah to grant us the Tawfeeq to adhere to the pure Sunnah and distance from everything that opposes it. However, the above does not negate living with non-Muslims with fine conduct and fulfilling covenants. Must read following articles:

Part 1: The Affair of Markaz Tawheed (Stoke On Trent), Greenlane and Ikhwaaniyyah In Manhaj!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy.

The Affair of Markaz Tawheed (Stoke On Trent), Greenlane and Ikhwaaniyyah In Manhaj:

Imaam Fudayl Ibn Iyaad [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Humility is that you humble yourself to the truth and accept it from the one who says it. Humility is that you accept truth, even if heard from a child or the most jaahil person”. [Madaarj As-Saalikeen 2/342]

Firstly, we ask Allaah to grant us the Tawfeeq to always accept truth when it becomes manifest to us Aameen. In 2008, one of our pupils – during a class discussion – sternly insisted that Greenlane are upon an Ikhwaani Manhaj, but we insisted that we’ll suffice with the term hizbiyyoon. We thought our beloved pupil was being very harsh, so we wanted to calm him down, but during the past few years it has become absolutely clear to everyone that the view held by our former pupil was more precise than ours, because we now know that he held onto such a view based on information received from one of our foremost elder teachers, but we never heard that from that elder teacher at the time. May Allaah protect our beloved young brother, bless him and his parents, increase him in beneficial knowledge, pure provision and righteous deeds, and likewise all our youth Aameen.

Secondly, here is tangible proof to show an effort of ahlul bidah in Stoke On Trent based on Hasan Al-Bannah’s innovated destructed Principle: “Excusing Differences For The Sake Of Unity”. This collective effort of ahlul bidah based on this false principle is not something strange, but what must be warned against severely is the deception of individuals at [Markaz Tawheed (Greenlane Allies) – shameless deceivers who commit all their crimes in the name of Salafiyyah and Sunnah. Some of these blazing hizbiyyoon did mention in one of their text messages that because cooperation with non-Muslims is permitted (i.e. in some cases), therefore cooperation with those less than them is permitted if done for a Sharee’ah purpose! Subhaanallaah! This repugnant and extremely corrupt Qiyaas (analogy) will be dealt with in a separate article after the Birmingham conference InShaaAllaah, but for now it is enough for every sensible person who understands some basic principles of Salafiyyah that these people are not raising funds to feed hungry Soofees or provide shelter for the homeless amongst them, rather they are raising funds that will aid obstinate Soofees to extend a base where they’ll carry on with their bidah and misguidance in the name of common good- whether those corrupt individuals at Markaz Tawheed accept this fact or not. So, where is the Sharee’ah benefit in facilitating the means that will promote the falsehood of staunch callers to bidah?!

Thirdly, must read this article by Shaikh Abu Khadeejah [may Allaah preserve him]: An Exposition Of The Ikhwāni Principle Of Excusing Differences For The Sake Of Unity: “We excuse one another in that which we differ.” https://abukhadeejah.com/the-principle-of-ikhwan-we-excuse-and-overlook-one-another/
