Allah’s will is tied to His knowledge and wisdom – Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Shaikh Ibn ‘Uthaimeen said:

Everything [brought about] by the will of Allah is coupled with His wisdom. That is because Allah The Mighty and Majestic doesn’t simply ordain mere decrees, but rather His decree comes from His wisdom. The proof of that is His statement The Most High:

But you cannot will, unless Allah wills. Indeed, Allah is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise. (76:30)

His statement The Most High “Indeed, Allah is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise” indicates that His wisdom is tied to knowledge and wisdom.

Knowledge of Allah’s names and attributes; a cause of increase in imaan – Shaykh Ibn Uthaimeen

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaimeen said:

Among the causes that bring about increase in one’s imaan is having knowledge of Allah’s names and attributes. Whenever the slave increases in awareness of them, of their implications and effects, then imaan in His Rabb will [consequently] increase, as well as love and veneration of Him. Likewise, contemplating over the universal and legislative signs, whenever the slave observes them, pondering over their amazing power and their superb wisdom (of Allah demonstrated within them), then his imaan will without doubt increase.

Greater need for humility of the heart than of the limbs – Shaykh Ibn Uthaimeen

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Shaikh Ibn ‘Uthaimeen said:

Humility of the heart is in greater need of being observed than humility of the limbs. That is because the one who has awe of Allah in his heart is [consequently] more observant of Allah The Mighty and Majestic and of His rights.

Hence, it is necessary for humility of the heart to be paid attention to more than humility of the limbs. It is possible for any individual to practise humility of the limbs, even inside his house. Everyone is able to stand praying motionlessly [out of apparent humility], however having a heart that is heedless. Therefore, it [the heart] is the basis. It is that that requires a person to pay attention to, taking constant and absolute care of it.
