“Tahiyyat al-Masjid” (2 Rakaa’at) Whilst the Muadhin is Calling the Adhaan- Shaykh Al-Uthaymeen

ุจุณู… ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุงู„ุฑุญู…ู† ุงู„ุฑุญูŠู…

It is better to respond to the muadhin and then supplicate after that, with what has been reported1, then he enters into (performing) tahiyyatul masjid (2 rakah before sitting down), however some of the scholars have made an exception when entering the mosque on the Friday and the muadhin is calling the second adhaan, (if that occurs) he (first) prays tahiyyatul masjid , so that he is able to listen to the khutbah. The reason for that is because listening to the khutbah is an obligation and responding to the muadhin is not an obligation. And safeguarding the performance of an obligation takes precedence over safeguarding (the performance of) that which isn’t an obligation.

Giving Salaam in an empty masjid? – Ash Shaykh Saalih Al Fawzaan

Question:

Is it from the sunnah for the one who enters the masjid to give the salaams whether there is anyone in it or not, because we heard that whoever enters the masjid it is a must that he gives salaams upon the angels?

Answer:

Give the salaams if someone is in it, (if) he sees someone in it then give the salaams. As for if the masjid is empty then there is no reason to give the salaams.

What if he finds out that he did not pray towards the Qibla?

Question:

What is the ruling, if after the prayer it becomes clear that it was prayed towards other than the direction of the Qiblah; does it make any difference if this (happened) in a Muslim land or a kaafir land or in the wilderness?

ย

Answer:

If a Muslim is on a journey or in a land in which it is not easy to find someone to show him the Qiblah, then his prayer is correct even after it becomes clear to him that he did not pray towards the Qibla. But if he was in a Muslim land, his prayer is not correct, because he is able to ask someone to show him the direction of the Qibla, just as he is able to know the direction of the Qibla via the mosques. Do i need to pray two rakaat if I left the masjid and returned a while after? Shaykh Fawzaan

Question:

If I exited from the masjid for a period of ten minutes then I returned is the greeting of the masjid (2 rakaat) binding upon me?

Answer:

If you exited with the intention to return and you returned soon then the greeting of the masjid is not upon you, because you take the ruling of being sat in the Masjid. As for if the time was long, then when you return you perform the greeting of the masjidย because the separation was long and the first sitting has finished and this is a second sitting.

Abu Abdir Razzaaq Amjad

Shaykh Fawzaan: Advice regarding parking cars…

We have said to you more than once; do not park your cars in front of peopleโ€™s gates/doors, people want to go in and out and carry things. So do not harm the people; May Allah reward you with good. Itโ€™s not a must that you park your car at the mosque; park it in (another) place, even if it is far from the mosque. Do not harm anyone and do not annoy or irritate anyone. (By parking in front of their drives, gates etc)
