“Question: A man became impure after intimate relations (junub), so he performed tayyammum (ritual purification with dust when water isn’t available) and then found cold water… He is able to make Wudhu with it, but not able to perform Ghusl (Full Purification with a Bath) due to the coldness, what is the ruling on that? And, he he has no way of heating the water?
Question:
If a person has with him hardness in his heart, then what are affairs that will soften the heart?
Answer:
There is nothing better or more necessary (for softening the heart) than the Noble Qur’aan. It is what will soften the hearts. Allah -the Exalted and Sublime – said:
‘’Those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah – Islamic Monotheism), and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah, Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.’’ [Surah al-Rad Verse 28]
So the Qur’aan is what will soften the hearts, which if Allah were to reveal it on a mountain, you would surely have seen it humbling itself and rending asunder by the fear of Allah;
‘’Had We sent down this Quran on a mountain, you would surely have seen it humbling itself and rending asunder by the fear of Allah.’’ [Suratul Hashr Verse 21]
Likewise sitting with the righteous and listening to The Qur’aan, (listening) to admonitions and reminders–this is what will soften the hearts.
“whoever washes a dead person then upon him is to make ghusl and whoever carries the dead then he has to perform wudoo”?
And is this the command of obligation or recommendation? And why?
Answer:
The aforementioned Hadith is weak; and verily it has been affirmed from the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم in other narrations, that which indicates the recommendation of performing ghusl after washing a dead person.
As for carrying (the dead person) then it is not correct to make wudoo and neither is it recommended, owing to the lack of evidence in this regard.
”If Allaah wishes good for a slave, He makes him acquainted with his sins and withholding from (looking) at the sins of other than him, generous with what he has and abstinent from what others have and forbearing with the harm that comes from others. And if He (Allaah) wishes evil for him, He makes (these things) the opposite upon him.” [Al-Fawaa-id: page: 157]
”Following desires and prolonged hope are the ingredients of every corruption; because following desires blinds (one) from the truth in knowledge and intent. And prolonged hope (makes one) forget the afterlife and hinders from making preparations for it. [Al-Fawaa-id: page: 156]
Not everyone adorned with knowledge and wisdom and is from its people; rather the people of knowledge and wisdom are those who give life to their hearts by killing the desires. As for the one who kills his heart and thus gives life to desires, then knowledge and wisdom are (merely) on his tongue (i.e. not acting upon such knowledge and wisdom). [Al-Fawaa-id: page:154]
