Al-Marwazee (rahimahullaah) said that it was said to Abee Abdillaah [i.e.Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullaah)]: What is the thing that is abstinence from this worldly life? He said: To lessen one’s hopes; the one who says when he reaches the morning,  ”I may not reach the evening” [Jaami-ul Uloom Wal-Hikam:Page:401]
