A Warning Against Belittling the Scholars and Callers to Allah – Shaykh Fawzan

He asks, Noble Shaykh, may Allah bless you. It hurts us deeply, what we see of the attempts to lower the station of our virtuous scholars, and the biggest difficulty is what we see from those weak in intellect getting carried away behind the likes of these (individuals belittling the scholars) on social media platforms. So what advice (do you have) for us and the attendees on respecting and appreciating our scholars?

[20] Contemplation On The Subject Matter of Tawheed: [Reflection For Those Deceived By Soofees, Peers and Grave Worshippers Who Claim That They Know The Ghaib]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Question: What is the ruling regarding a man who says, “Had it not been that I would make people grieve, I would have informed every person about the day in which he will die”; and what is your advice to the one who believes what this man says?

Answer: The one who believes what this man says has indeed disbelieved in that which has been revealed to Muhammad [sallal laahu alayhi Wa sallam] (ref 1), because he has believed that which nullifies the statement of Allaah: [قُل لَّا يَعۡلَمُ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلۡغَيۡبَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ‌ – Say (O Muhammad): None in the heavens and the earth knows the Ghaib (unseen) except Allaah]. [Surah An-Naml. Aayah 65]

It is well known that the [time, day and place] of death of a person is an affair of the unseen which none knows except Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic]; therefore if one claims to possess knowledge of this, then indeed he is a liar. The man who claims that he knows when people will die is no doubt a liar, and the one who believes what he says is a disbeliever (ref 2) due to the statement of Allaah: [قُل لَّا يَعۡلَمُ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلۡغَيۡبَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ‌ – Say (O Muhammad): None in the heavens and the earth knows the Ghaib (unseen) except Allaah]. [Surah An-Naml. Aayah 65]

And my advice to the one who believes what this man says is that he repents to Allaah and then holds as his belief that this man is a liar and is [submerged] in myths [illusion, superstitions]; and it is not permissible to believe what he claims regarding knowledge of the unseen. Allāh Hates all Lowly Manners, Characteristics, Speech and Actions – Shaykh Zayd, Shaykh ‘Abdullāh Bassām and Shaykh Fawzān

عن أنس رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: ما كان الفحش في شيء؛ إلا شانه، و ما كان الحياء في شيء؛ إلا زانه

On the authority of Anas (Allāh be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allāh (sallāhu alaihi wa salam) said:

Indecency is not present in an affair except that it makes it ugly, and shyness/shame is not present in an affair except that it beautifies it. (Authenticated by al-Imām Al-Albāni in Sahīh At-Tirmidhi vol.2 pg. 369)

Shaykh Zayd ibn Hādi (rahimahullāh):

This hadith indicates the great status of shyness/shame in the religion of Islam, due to (the effect it has on the servant of) making him feel ashamed of facing Allah, whilst abandoning His commands, or carrying out a prohibition, or wrongdoing in speech or action in an affair connected to the rights of the creation.

Alongside that, the Hadith shows the dispraise of indecency in speech or actions, regardless of if it is linked to the rights of Allāh, His messenger or the ummah (in general). This is because Islam calls to the adornment of all praiseworthy characteristics, statements and deeds and the abandonment of all lowly despicable characteristics, actions and statements.

عن أبي الدرداء رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: إن الله يبغض الفاحش البذيء

Abu ad-Darda (Allāh be pleased with him), said that the Messenger of Allāh (sallāhu alaihi wa salam) said:

Verily, Allāh hates the fāhish and the badhī.

Shaykh Al-Fawzān (hafidahullāh) explains:

Al-Fāhish are the perpetrators of foul indecent disgusting actions and Al-Badhī are the utterers of indecency, cursing, revilement and slandering etc.

All of these affairs are evil and Allāh hates those who posses these two characteristics.

‎  ليس المؤمن بالطعان، ولا اللعان، ولا الفاحش، ولا البذيء ‎ :عن عبد الله بن مسعود رضي الله عنه قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم

‘Abdullāh ibn Mas’ūd (Allāh be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allāh (sallāhu alaihi wa salam) said:

The (complete) believer does not revile and curse (frequently whether he has a reason or not) and neither does he commit immoral vile disgusting deeds or utter lewd immoral speech. (Authenticated by al- Imām Al-Albāni in Sahīh At-Tirmidhi vol.2 pg. 370)

Shaykh ‘Abdullāh Bassām (rahimahullāh) mentions at the end of his explanation of this hadīth:

In conclusion, these are not the manners of someone whose heart has been illuminated with the light of īmān in Allāh. Nor of one whose manners have been beautified by at-Taqwa. Or of one whose conduct has been improved by worship, or by the one whose tongue has become rectified and refined by adh-dhikr; rather these are only the manners of the riffraff from the sinful and hypocrites.

Shaykh Zayd ibn Hādi (rahimahullāh) concludes his explanation of the hadīth of Anas by saying:

When the issue is as you have learnt oh Muslims, then verily it is compulsory upon us to take an example from what these texts show us, in relation to the praiseworthy nature of shyness/shame and the evil of depravity, indecency, lewdness etc.

The Ruling On Congregational Supplication at The Cemetery

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Question: What is the ruling on congregational supplication after the burial of the deceased?

Answer: Congregational supplication at the cemetery is not an established [act of worship that has been transmitted] from the Prophet [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam]. The Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said [i.e. after burial at the cemetery], ‘’Seek for forgiveness for your brother, and ask that he be made steadfast, for now he is being questioned”. [Abu Dawood, 3221]

Therefore, every person supplicates individually for his brother [i.e. the deceased]; as for doing so in congregation, then this is a bidah. The scholars even established that congregational supplication after the obligatory prayers is one of the innovations [in the religion], because if a deed is legislated to be performed individually but we perform it in a congregational manner, it would be tantamount to Bidah [in the religion]. This is the affair regarding bidah, for indeed there is no bidah except that it has a basis [in the religion]; whereas the true reality of sound adherence [to the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet] is that we perform an act of worship in the same manner it was performed by the Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam]. Our act of worship should be in conformity with that of the Messenger – in reality and in the manner he performed it; in conformity with what he intended and the manner in which he performed it. We cannot be true followers unless if the affair is like that.

The Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] supplicated and commanded the companions to supplicate after the burial of one of his companions, so everyone supplicates individually by himself. Therefore, if we were to congregate behind an Imaam who supplicates and we say Aameen [i.e. after the burial at the cemetery], then indeed we have innovated in the religion and every newly invented matter [in the religion] is a Bidah; every bidah is misguidance and every act of misguidance [leads to the] hell fire. Take Good Care of the Youth – Shaykh Al-Uthaymīn

Shaykh Al-Uthaymīn (Allah have mercy on him) said:

The legislated texts came urging with (cultivating and) taking good care of the youth; directing them to that which is good, upright and proper.

Therefore, if the youth are upright and proper – and they are the foundation and future of this nation, their uprightness is built upon strong pillars of the religion and manners – in the future they will be a light for this nation and righteous successors for our scholars, inshā Allāh.

The Heart is the King and the Limbs are The Soldiers – Shaykh ‘Alee Naasir al-Faqihee

Shaykh ‘Alee Naasir al-Faqihee (hafidahullah) said,

“These [are] Four Rules(1),that the Muslim benefits from throughout his life. And they address affairs of creed, and it is known that if the creed is correct and sound, everything else [will also be] correct.

Because the Messenger of Allah informed us that,

“ There is a morsel of flesh in the body, if it is sound, the whole body is sound. And if it is corrupt the whole body is corrupted, and it is the heart.”(2)

Therefore, if the heart is sound, then all of the limbs are in obedience; meaning the heart is (like a) king and the limbs are (like) soldiers. When the heart is righteous it does not reach out except to good, and it does not perform except [that which is] good.”
