The Day of Recompense is Unavoidable – Shaykh Ibn Bāz (rahimahullāh)

The one who believes in the Last Day – that is, the resurrection after death. He knows this life will end, and the Last Day is approaching; it is the Day of Resurrection. This Day is unavoidable, it is certainly coming, and Allāh will resurrect His servants, as He (jalla wa ‘ala) said,

After that, surely, you will die. (15) Then you will surely be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection.[1]

And He (ta’aala) said,

And surely, the Hour is coming, there is no doubt about it, and certainly, Allāh will resurrect those who are in the graves.[2]

The Last Day is the Day of Reckoning, the Day of Recompense, [and therein is] Paradise, Hell, the Scales, the Bridge over Hell (Sirāt), the giving of the scrolls in the right hand and the left and the erecting of the Scales and the weighing of deeds.

Then after all of this, [the worldly life will end] it will end, people will end up in [either] Paradise or Hellfire – the believers in Paradise, happiness and honour, and the disbelievers in the Fire, in humiliating punishment – We ask Allāh for safety and wellbeing.
