What affirms the entrance [beginning] and exit [end] of the month of Ramadan?

Shaykh Bin Baz was asked:

What affirms the entrance [beginning] and exit [end] of the month of Ramadan? And what is the ruling upon the one who sees the new moon by himself for the beginning or ending of the month?

The entrance [beginning] and exit [end] of the month is confirmed by 2 trustworthy witnesses or more, and the entrance of the month is confirmed by 1 witness alone because it is confirmed from the prophet that he said;

“…and if 2 witnesses testify then fast and break the fast”

and it is established from the prophet that he commanded the people to fast upon the testification of ibn Umar and by the testification of the bedouin, and he did not request another witness.

And the wisdom in that and Allah knows best, is caution in the religion in the entering and exiting of the month as the people of knowledge have stated. And whoever sees the new moon alone [himself] in the entering or exiting of the month but his testification is not acted upon then in that case he is to fast with the people and break his fast with the people and he is not to act upon his own witnessing of the new moon based upon the more correct opinion of the scholars due to the statement of the prophet;

“fasting is the day you all fast, and the opening of the fast is the day you all open it and the day of slaughtering is the day you all slaughter”

Wife praying next to her husband – UPDATED

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Question:
What is the sunnah for a woman praying with her husband? Does she line up next to him or behind him?

Answer:
Its all the same; there is no prohibition if she lines up beside him and there is no prohibition if she lines up behind him.

———————————————
N.B With regards to the above fatwa then it should be noted some scholars do view the issue to be somewhat open however the overwhelming opinion based upon hadith of Anas* is that the woman stands behind, this is the opinion of many of the scholars past and present that the woman prays behind the man regardless of whether it is her husband or other than him, from these scholars are Shaykhul Islaam ibn Taymiyyah, Shaykh Muqbil bin Haadi al Waadi’ee, Shaykh bin Baz and Shaykh Ubayd Al Jaabi’ree

*Al-Bukhaari (380) and Muslim (658) narrated from Anas ibn Maalik that his grandmother Mulaykah invited the Messenger of Allaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) to come and eat some food that she had prepared for him. He ate some, then he said: “Get up and I will lead you in prayer.” Anas said: The Messenger of Allaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم) stood up, and the orphan and I stood in a row behind him, and the old woman stood behind us, and the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه و سلم) led us in praying two rak’ahs, then he left.

Shaykh bin Baz was informed by a man that he used to pray next to his wife in and then being informed that it is impermissible for them to do so, he asked do we have to repeat our prayers?

The shaykh replied there is nothing upon you and do not repeat them, however do not do it again, and the shaykh continued to mention the above narration of Anas -radiallaahu anhu- and finished by saying the woman prays behind the men even if she was praying with her husband.

Is “There is no shame in the Religion” a valid statement? – Shaykh Al-Uthaymeen

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Shaykh Uthaymeen was asked about the statement “There is no shame in the religion”

He said -Rahimahullah-

As for the statement there is no shame in the religion, then it is better to say Allah is not ashamed of the Truth; as Umm Sulaym -may Allah be pleased with her- said

O Messenger of Allaah, Allaah is not ashamed of the truth,so is it necessary for a women to make ghusl when she has a wet dream?” Bukhaari

As for the statement “There is no shame in the religion” then this assumes a corrupt meaning.

Because the Messenger of Allah –sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam- said

“Shame/Shyness is from Eemaan” Muslim

Therefore shame and shyness is from the religion.

But if the purpose of the statement “No shame in the religion” is that there is no shame in the affairs of the religion i.e. that you ask (and seek knowledge) about those issues which are (normally) shied away from; then if this was the intent then it is better for him to say:

“Indeed Allah is not ashamed of the truth”

Advise to the Muslims in Britain, in Light of Recent Events in London

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

This is a portion from my conversation today with shaykhunaa (our shaykh), waalidunaa (our father) in Misr (Egypt), Hasan Abdul-Wahhaab Marzouq Al-Bannaa (May Allah preserve him and his family upon good).

I asked shaykhunaa a question pertaining to the recent unfortunate events which have occured in London, UK; in regards to two individuals killing an unarmed British soldier in broad daylight in the streets of London. Two individuals whom the media says are Muslims, and Allah is the Most Knowledgeable of all affairs. I informed shaykhunaa that one of the individuals is captured on video justifying what was done by using quotes from Allah’s book such as, “eye for eye and tooth for tooth”. I asked shaykhunaa, what is our position and what should we do in
regards to this unfortunate event?

Shaykhunaa, Hasan Al-Bannaa (may Allah preserve him upon good) said, it is a must that the believers unite in opposition to this dreadful event. The believers must come together and work together in opposing and rejecting this corrupt methodology.

These individuals speak in regards to this and that. They base their speech upon this and that, however, they do not understand Islaam correctly and are ignorant about correct Islaam. For people say the religion of Islaam is this or is that. Claims of the speech must be confirmed from what has been documented. It is obligatory that one affirms his speech upon that which is correct. The one who does this (speaking without true understanding) commits an error which is in opposition of the foundation of the religion and its branches. They hold on to these ideologies by saying this and that. They intend to harm the Salafis with this. They are in clear opposition of the foundation of the religion. They strive to harm and bring shame to the religion.

Shaykhunaa added that our brothers in Britain are to be aided and shown support; he mentioned Hasan As-Soomaali and Abu Khadeejah. They are aware of what is taking place.

This conversation occurred on May 30th, 2013; in correspondence to the Islaamic calendar date of 20th of Rajab, 1434.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Beware of Those who Fish in al-Hajoori’s Murky Waters!

Update: A United Word From Ahlus-Sunnah in Britain Regarding Yahyah al-Hajooree

With the scholars speaking against Shaykh Yahyah al Hajoori, it is clear that those afflicted with difficulty in accepting these statements, have started to attack those who bring the clear verdicts of the scholars, to the people, not fearing their blame.

It is clear that they are manifesting the same haddadi manhaj of their Shaykh (see post 7 here by Abu Hakeem). Their petty attacks against “perceived mistakes” are based on clear jahl, misinformation, stitching of statements, half truths and lies.

They are nothing but a smoke screen in order to deflect the attention from the grave an serious mistakes of their Shaykh, Yahyah al Hajoori.

Our dealing with them are the same as our dealings with any supporters of an innovator! It is the same as is with the supporters of Ali Halabi, Abul Hasan al Ma’ribi, Abdur Rahman Abdul Khaaliq, Falih Harbi and the rest of the innovators.

And with Allah is the success!

Reply to a Roman Tyrant

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

The tyrant (ruler) of Rome wrote to Khaleefah Al-Mu’tasim intimidating him; so he commanded that the (tyrant) should be sent a reply. He then said to the scribe, ”Write, to proceed: Indeed I have read what you have written and heard your address, and the response is what you will see and not you will hear. Giving Salaam in an empty masjid? – Ash Shaykh Saalih Al Fawzaan

Question:

Is it from the sunnah for the one who enters the masjid to give the salaams whether there is anyone in it or not, because we heard that whoever enters the masjid it is a must that he gives salaams upon the angels?

Answer:

Give the salaams if someone is in it, (if) he sees someone in it then give the salaams. As for if the masjid is empty then there is no reason to give the salaams.

Imaam Muqbil and Imaam as San’aanee – Accepting the Jarh is NOT taqleed

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

السلام عليكم

The fanatical supporters of al-Hajoori are making many claims, regarding the Salafis who have taken the stance, and accept the criticism of Shaykh Rabee with regards to their Shaykh Yahya Hajoori.

When Shaykh Rabee’ said

‘Take the position of men with regards to him. He has harmed the people of Salafiyyah. There is no one more harmful than Yahya.’

Then it was clear that these attacks from his followers would come. They claim that those who carry his criticism, have made taqleed of Shaykh Rabee as they claim that al Hajoori is known for his Salafiyyah (by them) so the Jarh therefore does not apply.

Shaykh Muqbil -rahimahullah- said regarding this last point;

”So if a weak person speaks about an Imaam from amongst the Great Imams then his speech is not accepted,an example of that is the speech of Qardaawee about ash-Shaykh Ibn Baaz”

So the first question; Is Shaykh Rabee -hafidahullah- ‘a Weak person’? Shaykh Rabee’s position has been made clear and the following link will illustrate that they are only attempting to defend their own Shaykh and his mistakes, whilst attacking a mountain of knowledge:

Kibaar past and present on Shaykh Rabee

By contrast they raise al Hajoori, claiming that he is from the ”GREAT Imaams”… According to their delusions, and extreme love he is so much more…

Shaykh Rabee said

”Tell him (Yahyah) that he is only a student and not an Alim. He is not a sincere adviser; he is not an Imam of anything. Tell him that he is just a student; tell him to fear Allaah and to join his brothers hand in hand – his brothers of Ahlul Sunnah. Tell him to leave this extremism and evil behaviour.”

It seems very strange then that we have Al Imaam Muqbil, holding a position contrary to the claims of these defenders of al Haajori. However if we go further back we have the statements of Al Imaam as San’aanee, refuting the people of innovation of his time, who came with similar arguments and deception.

Will these individuals now claim that Imaam Muqbil and Imaam As San’aanee -rahimahumallah- were following and calling to the blameworthy methodology of Taqleed?!

Let us look again to the truth in Shaykh Rabee’s words -hafidahullah-

‘By Allaah, we have not seen this type of extremism from the people of innovation that we see from his students.’

‘They (Yahya and his followers) are waging a war against the Salafis and Salafiyaah,’

In truth this statement is becoming manifest in their statements every day…. People may try to hide but Allaah The Most High exposes them sooner or later.

Benefit from the following links and protect yourself with knowledge from the distortions and deceptions of the extremists from the followers of Yahyah, whom actually have the opportunity to either visit or ring Shaykh Rabee’ if they would like more details, yet they do not, rather they are attacking the Salafis for accepting the advice of the Shaykh.

We ask Allah the turner of the hearts to keep our hearts firm upon his religion and protect us from misguidance

Accepting the jarh of the Scholars is not taqleed – Shaykh Muqbil and Imam As San’aanee

Imaam Muqbil – Q&A Regarding accepting the Jarh, Hizbees and Taqleed

Major Scholars Past and Present on Shaykh Rabee

Woe to you! place it on my head, for there is no more space in my stomach

Imaam Dhahabi stated in the biography of Bilaal Bin Abee Bardata Bin Abee Moosaa Al-Ash-ari that once he was amongst a group of people partaking in food.  Al-Madaa-inee stated that Bilaal sent for a butcher before day break, so he entered upon him with a stove and a big billy goat.  He said: ”slaughter it, strip off its skin and make its meat into a kebab”, so that was carried out and he sent for a dining table and placed it on it.  So the meat started being made into kebab and whenever something of it was ready to be eaten he would place it on his hand and eat, until the meat of the billy goat became very thin and nothing remain from it, except its stomach and bones, and a few pieces were left on the table.  So he said to me: ”I have eaten all of it.”  Then a slave girl came along with a cooking pot and in it were two chickens, two young birds and a wrapped food wrapping paper.  So he said (to the slave girl): ”Woe to you! Place it on my head for there is no more space in my stomach.”  We all laughed.

[Taareekhul Islaam: 8/51]

He recited a Juz in the morning prayer until nearly sunrise and I fell down

Imaam Dhahabi (rahimahullaah) mentioned in the biography of Abbaadata that he was one who (liked) to joke and jest.  It was related that Abbaadata entered upon Al-Mutawakkil and he promised to beat him.  He (Mutawaakil) said (to Abbaadata): ”Did you slap the Imaam of the masjid?”  He (Abbaadata) said: O leader of the believers! I entered into the Masjid whilst I was in a hurry, so he led us for the Morning Prayer and prolonged it.  He recited a Juz until the sun was about to rise and I fell down.  Then after the Tasleem he said: ”Repeat your prayer because I was not in a state of ablution”, so I slapped him once.  Mutawakkil laughed.
