What Can Afflict a Believer If He [Or She] Blindly Follows Some of Those Who Were Given the Scripture?

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah [The Most High] said in Surah Aal Imraan Ayah 100:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ تُطِيعُوا فَرِيقًا مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ يَرُدُّوكُمْ بَعْدَ إِيمَانِكُمْ كَافِرِينَ

O you who believe! If you obey a group of those who were given the Scripture, they would [indeed] render you disbelievers after you have believed!

Few Reminders from the Above Aayah:

That is because of their envy and hatred towards you [believers], and their extreme eagerness to turn you away from your religion, just as He (The Most High) said:

 وَدَّ كَثِيرٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ لَوْ يَرُدُّونَكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ إِيمَانِكُمْ كُفَّارًا حَسَدًا مِنْ عِنْدِ أَنْفُسِهِمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الْحَقُّ

Many of the people of the Scripture wish that if they could turn you away as disbelievers after you have believed, out of envy from their ownselves, even, after the truth (that Muhammad Peace be upon him is Allah’s Messenger) has become manifest unto them. [2:109] [Ref 1]

Az-Zujaaj [rahimahullaah] said: If you obey and blindly follow them [they would return you to disbelief] [Ref 2]

NB: The above has nothing to do with having peace treaties with non-Muslims, fulling contracts and behaving oneself whilst living in non-Muslim countries. See articles on this links

Can we Read the Books of and Sit with Ahlul Bid’ah? Shaykh Rabee Answers

Al- Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Madkhali (may Allaah preserve him) stated:

And that one who does not know the books of refutations, even if he has memorized of knowledge all that is to be memorized, then indeed – may Allaah bless you – he is (still) on an unstable position. We have seen many who know, but then they fell into misguidance…. The full translation with audio is available here:

The Superior Bliss

Indeed, the superior bliss which is noblest and loftiest in the afterlife- without exception – is to see Allaah’s face.

Uddatus- Saabireen pg43 Ibnul Qayyim

Suhayb ar-Roomi [radiyallaahu-anhu] said that the Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said: “When the people of Paradise enter Paradise, Allaah [ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى  ] will say: ‘Do you want anything more?’ They will say: Have You not made our faces bright? Have You not admitted us to Paradise and saved us from Hell?’ Then the veil will be removed and they will not be given anything more beloved to them than looking at their Lord [عَزَّ وَجَلَّ]. [Sahih Muslim]

Six Affairs That Will Deprive Us of Knowledge

  1. To abandon asking
  2. Not silently listening and not giving an attentive ear
  3. Misunderstanding or wrong understanding
  4. Lack of memorisation
  5. Not disseminating and teaching it; for whoever accumulates [and keeps knowledge as a secret] and does not disseminate it, Allaah will afflict him by making him forget it- as a just recompense.
  6. Not acting upon it, for indeed acting upon [knowledge] compels one to remember and ponder upon it, guard and examine it. But if he does not act upon it, he will forget it.

They Might Laugh at You and Say, ‘’You People Live Under One Rulership’’ Or ”Under a Dictatorship’’ – Shaikh Muhammad Amaan Al-Jaami Responds to This Claim

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Muhammad Amaan Al-Jaami [rahimahullaah] said: All praise is due to Allaah, our rulers [i.e. Saudi Arabia] handle our affairs based on Siyaasah Shar’iyyah [i.e. the system of Islamic governance founded upon the Qur’aan and the authentic Sunnah]. It is not strange that some people might laugh at you and say: “You [people] live under one permanent rulerhip – ruled by a single person permanently”. And they might even call this a dictatorship!

In this country, neither are we living under a rulership based on parliamentary elections through political parties; nor are we living under a dictatorship- ruled by the sword. [Ref 1] And neither are we ruled by an individual nor a group; therefore what (type of) rulership are we living under? [We are ruled] by Allaah’s Sharee’ah. The rulers of this land are only considered as those who apply Allaah’s Sharee’ah and not the legislators of laws. Neither do we have legislative authority nor it is permissible for that to exist; rather it is not permissible for the Muslims [in their countries] to have legislative authority in order to pass laws besides Allaah’s laws. [Ref 2] In this land, we are judged by Allaah’s Sharee’ah and this is something known, even to the market workers. [Source: Qurratu Uyoonis Salafiyyah Bil-Ajwibah Al-Jaamiyah’ pages 389-390. [Ref 1]: Even if the Muslims are ruled by an oppressive ruler, they must follow the guidelines of the Prophet regarding the manner in which to deal with such a situation.
