[4] Zionists and the Means of Communication – [Television screens, satellites, and airwaves]

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah [The Exalted] said:

وَإِذَا قُلۡتُمۡ فَٱعۡدِلُواْ وَلَوۡ ڪَانَ ذَا قُرۡبَىٰ‌ۖ

And when you testify, be just, even if (it concerns) a near relative. [1]

When you testify by way of a statement to judge between people, differentiate between them in a discourse, and speak regarding matters and circumstances, be just in your speech, adhere to truthfulness regarding those you love and those you hate, be fair and do not conceal what needs to be made clear because it is forbidden and tantamount to injustice to divert (from justice and fairness) when speaking against the one you hate. [2]

Therefore, we remind ourselves of the fact that not all Jews are engaged in the plots of the Zionists, as Shaikh Abu Iyaad [may Allah preserve him] stated, “It is important to note that not all Jews are involved in these intrigues and the Jews as a population have, throughout history, been subject to the whims and desires of their religious and political leaders, and have been made to undergo much persecution as a result”. The Most Important Christian Zionist Programs

The most influential Christian Zionist programs in American society in particular for viewers in general are the following:

“Decision Hour” program, hosted by Zionist Reverend Billy Graham, is one of the earliest religious programs that began in 1950 and broadcast from nine hundred television and radio stations. “Torah Study” program by the Zionist Billy Graham broadcasted on a thousand radio stations around the world. “A Day of Discovery” program also by Reverend Billy Graham, a daily program watched by more than seven people million families.

“The Old Religious Call Awakening Hour” by the Zionist priest Charles Feller, and one of the most famous old religious programs. It started in 1925, transmitting from Los Angeles, and reached 456 radio stations in the early 1940s. “A Study in the Word” program by Zionist Pastor Jimmy Swaggart is a daily program watched by over 4.58 million families each month. In one of his episodes, he stated, “I feel that the United States of America is connected to Israel by an umbilical birth cord. These ties, I believe, date back to long before the birth of the United States of America, just as the Judeo-Christian concept dates back to Abraham and God’s promise to him; a promise that I believe includes the United States of America because God still says, ‘I bless those who bless Israel, and I curse those who curse it’, and it is God’s grace to the United States of America that it is still strong today, and I am confident that this is due to the fact that it stands behind Israel, and I pray to God that it will always remain a supporter of Israel.”

“The Seven Hundred Clubs” Program or “The Seven Hundred Club” by Christian Zionist Pat Robertson, which is a daily program watched by more than 16.30 million families every month and broadcast for ninety minutes. It is given this name due to the number of viewers in the program. “Weekly Crusade” by Zionist Pastor Jimmy Swaggart, a weekly program watched by more than 9.25 million families every month. “Hour of Power” program by the Zionist Pastor Robert Schuller, which is a weekly program watched by more than 7.64 million families every month. This Zionist priest mentioned, in one of his programs, the text of a message he received from one of the viewers of his program in 1979 in which he said, “Every morning on Sundays, my wife and I sit in front of the TV, and we listen to your program, while we are having tea, and now that I am away from home, I will listen to your program, while I am sitting in my hotel room, while my wife is also listening to you at home. This indicates the passion of Christian listeners for the programs of this evangelical priest.

“Glorify the Lord” program by Zionist Pastor Jim Packer or Jim Baker, which is a daily program watched by more than 5.77 million families every month. “Expect a Miracle” program by Christian Pastor Oral Roberts, a weekly program watched by more than 5,773 million families every month. The “Jerry Folwell Live” program by Zionist Pastor Jerry Folwell, which is a weekly program every Sunday evening received by 34 million homes. “An Hour from the Gospel of the Time” program also by the Zionist Pastor Jerry Folwell is a daily program that is watched by more than 5.6 million families every month and is broadcast on 392 video stations and 500 audible stations.

“Kenneth Copeland Program and Review” by Zionist Pastor Kenneth Copeland, is a weekly program watched by more than 4.92 million families every month. “Discovery Day” program by Zionist Pastor Paul Van Gorder, is a weekly program viewed by more than 4.75 million families every month.

“The Rex Humpard Program and Show” by Christian Zionist Rex Humpard is a weekly program watched by more than 3.7 million families every month. “Israel is America’s Key to Survival” by the Christian Zionist Mike Evans. It is a daily program that is broadcast for an hour a day on more than fifty television stations, covering more than 25 American states, according to a report published in 1983 by this pastor. And due to this, the Zionist pastor said, “There are many Christian activities which focus on the call to protect Israel and cooperate with it, in fulfilment of the texts of the Old Testament”. Footnote a: Allah [The Exalted] says:

قُلْ هَلْ نُنَبِّئُكُم بِٱلْأَخْسَرِينَ أَعْمَٰلًا
ٱلَّذِينَ ضَلَّ سَعۡيُہُمۡ فِى ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَهُمۡ يَحۡسَبُونَ أَنَّہُمۡ يُحۡسِنُونَ صُنۡعًا

Say (O Muhammad): “Shall We tell you the greatest losers in respect of (their) deeds? Those whose efforts have been wasted in this life while they thought that they were acquiring good by their deeds! [Surah Al-Kahf. Ayaat 103-104]

The Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said: “By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, none from this nation of Jews and Christians hears of me, and then dies without having faith in my message, but that he will be an inhabitant of (the external) Hellfire”. [Ṣaḥeeh Muslim 153]

As for those among them who cooperate with the Zionists, they remind us of Allah’s statement:

[وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُوَلِّى بَعْضَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ بَعْضًۢا بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ – And thus We do make the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.) Auliya’ (supporters and helpers) one to another (in committing crimes etc.), because of that which they used to earn]. [Surah Al-An’aam. Ayah 129]

Finally, they spread misguidance and misguide the people. Allah says:

Verily, We give life to the dead, and We record that which they send before (them), and their traces, and that which they leave behind], and all things We have recorded with numbers (as a record) in a Clear Book. [Surah Yaaseen. Ayah 12]

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: “This subject matter makes clear to you the lofty station of calling to the path of Allah, guidance to His path through every means and path that leads to it; and the lowly status of the caller to evil and a leader in it, and that he is the most degraded human being, one who has committed the severest crime and the greatest sin”. The hostility of some European Countries towards Jews 800 years ago

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

We read in the history books that eight hundred years ago many Jews were expelled from England, but before their expulsion, they were reportedly forbidden from interacting with Christians, required to wear badges as a means of identification, and prohibited from building synagogues. Their offspring were not permitted to inherit from them in the thirteenth century, and many of them were arrested, put in jail, or hanged. They were also thought to be murderers of Christ. King Edward ultimately drove them out of England in 1290. In 1394, King Charles VI also banished them from France. They were accused of causing the Black Plague and their Talmud was burnt. A large number of them were forced to leave their homes, have their estates taken, and pay fines to be allowed to return to France. It was also forbidden for them to discuss their religion in public. Many pro-Zionists in our era openly assert that morality and justice have improved since the Middle Ages and that regulations from bygone eras of governance that led to the expulsion of many Jews from England and France have no place in contemporary society. Nevertheless, many of these hypocrites in the media turn a blind eye to the crimes committed by Netanyahu’s Far-right regime against the Palestinian people. As knowledge becomes increasingly accessible, it is crucial to prioritise critical self-scrutiny amidst the intense craving for recognition

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

As knowledge becomes increasingly accessible, it is crucial to prioritise critical self-scrutiny amidst the intense craving for recognition that is exposing some of the heart’s subtle vain desires!

Allah [The Most High] says:

قُلۡ هَـٰذِهِۦ سَبِيلِىٓ أَدۡعُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ عَلَىٰ بَصِيرَةٍ أَنَا۟ وَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَنِى‌ۖ وَسُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أَنَا۟ مِنَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ

Say (O Muhammad): “This is my way; I invite unto Allah (i.e. to the Oneness of Allah – Islamic Monotheism) with sure knowledge, I and whosoever follows me (also must invite others to Allah i.e. to the Oneness of Allah – Islamic Monotheism) with sure knowledge. And Glorified and Exalted be Allah (above all that they associate as partners with Him). And I am not of the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah; those who worship others along with Allah or set up rivals or partners to Allah).”

[أَدۡعُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ – I invite unto Allah (i.e. to the Oneness of Allah – Islamic Monotheism)]. Al-Allaamah Saalih Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] said: This part of the Ayah contains a notification regarding sincerity because some people call to themselves. It may be that a person propagates, and delivers lectures and sermons, but his goal is to become apparent to the people [Foonote a] – to receive some status, be praised, and that people gather and become numerous around him. If this is his aim, then he is not a caller to (the path of) Allah; rather he is a caller to himself. The person who abandons Dawah has abandoned a great obligation and the person who is not sincere in Dawah has fallen into great danger because Dawah has to be carried out sincerely for the sake of Allah and the aim should be to establish Allah’s Shariah- to guide and benefit the people, whether you are praised or rebuked. As for some people, when they are not praised and promoted, they abandon Dawah. This is proof that such a caller is not a caller to Allah, rather he only calls to himself. Therefore, the Muslim should be warned that his aim in Dawah should be sincerity, to benefit the people, free them from Shirk and bidah, free them from those affairs that are in opposition to the Shariah and fulfil what is obligated to him. A large number of people around a person is not proof that such a person is virtuous because some of the Prophets were only followed by a few people. “A Prophet will come on the day of judgement with a few followers and a Prophet will come with no followers”. [Bukhaari 5705]. Therefore, does this mean that such a Prophet is not virtuous? Absolutely not! A person does not look at the large number of people who are present because the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said to Ali, “If Allah gives guidance to a single man through you, it is better for you than possessing red camels”. [Bukhaari 3009] [1]

Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa’ah are not harmed by those who oppose them. If you are with them- all praise is due to Allah, they are pleased with this because they want good for the people. If you oppose them, you cannot harm them and due to this the Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him]said, “There will not cease to be a group of my Ummah who will be manifest upon the truth- not harmed by those who forsake them until the command of Allah comes to pass (i.e. the day of judgement) whilst they are upon the (truth)”. The one in opposition does not harm except himself. What is given consideration is not the large numbers; rather what is given consideration is to agree with the truth, even if a small number of people were upon it. And even if in some eras there is only one person (upon truth), he is the one upon truth and he is the Jamaa’ah. [Footnote b] The Jamaa’ah does not necessitate large numbers; rather the Jamaa’ah is what is in agreement with the truth – in agreement with the Book and the Sunnah, even if those upon it are few. However, if many come together upon truth, then – all praise is due to Allaah- this is strength; but if the majority oppose it (i.e. the truth), we side with the truth even if only a few are upon it”. [2]

[Footnote a]: Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said, “Allah loves a slave who is pious, self-sufficient and unnoticed”. [Saheeh Muslim 2965]

Taqiy: Fears Allah [The Mighty and Majestic], fulfils Allah’s commands and keeps away from what Allah has prohibited. Fulfils Allah’s commands, such as performing the prayer and performs it in congregation in the Masjid, pays the Zakaat and giving it to the one entitled to it, fasts the month of Ramadhaan, treating orphans with kindness and other types of acts of piety, righteousness and means to do good. Ghaniy: Self-sufficient- does not need the people and suffices himself with Allah. He does not ask the people anything [I] and does not lower himself to the people (i.e. due to needing them) [II]; rather he does not need the people. He knows himself, suffices himself with his Lord and does not pay attention to other than his Lord. Khafiy: hidden or unnoticed: He does not make himself manifest and does not give importance to manifesting himself amongst the people, to be pointed out or for people to speak about him. You find him between his house and his (local) Masjid and vice versa; from his house to his relatives and his brothers, whilst being unnoticed, and makes himself unnoticed. However, this does not mean that if Allaah grants a person knowledge, he confines himself in his house and does not teach the people. This is in opposition to piety (because) teaching the people is better for him than being confined in his house and does not benefit the people with his knowledge, or he sits in his house and does not benefit the people with his wealth; rather if the affair is between being conspicuous- to manifest himself or make himself visible, and between hiding himself (i.e. without a need to make himself manifest), then he chooses to hide; but if it is the case that he must make himself apparent, then he has to make himself apparent. This is beloved to Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic]. [3]

[I] Asking the people: Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee [may Allah preserve him] quoted Shaikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allah have mercy upon him] who stated, “The initiate affair with regards to asking the creation is that it is forbidden to do so, but it is permissible in when there is a necessity, but it is better to abandon doing so out of reliance on Allah. [4]

[II] Lowering Oneself: Imaam Ibn Hibbaan [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “It is obligated on a sensible person that he adheres to humility and avoids pride. Humility is of two types- the first one is praiseworthy and the other is blameworthy. Praiseworthy humility is when one abandons insolence and mockery. Blameworthy humility is when a person humbles himself in the presence of one who possesses the things of the worldly life and desires what such a person possesses. Therefore, a sensible person maintains his abandonment of blameworthy humility in all circumstances and he does not depart from praiseworthy humility. [5]

Imaam Fudayl Ibn Iyaadh [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “If you are able not to be known, then do so. Is there anything against you if you are unknown? Is there anything against you if you are not praised? Is there anything against you if you are considered blameworthy in the sight of the people but praiseworthy in the sight of Allah [The Mighty and Majestic]?” [6]

Imaam Ibraaheem An-Nakha’ee [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “It is enough a trial that a person is pointed out due to his religious or worldly affairs, except the one whom Allah protects”. [7]

Shaikh Al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “There are many cases in which the souls are mixed with Ash-Shahawaat Al-Khafiyyah [i.e. desires that are concealed, subtle etc] that corrupts its fulfilment of (perfect) love of Allah, servitude to Him and establishment of the religion sincerely for the sake of Allaah, just as Shaddaad Ibn Aws [may Allah be pleased with him] said, ‘O Arabs! Indeed, the affair I fear for you the most is Riyaa [show off] and Shahwa Al-Khafiyyah’. It was said to Abu Daawud As-Sijistaani, ‘What is Ash-Shahwa Al-Khafiyyah?’ He said, ‘Love of leadership’”. [8]

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Mad’khali [may Allah preserve him] said: O youth! Be mindful of Shaytaan who is next to you. Seek Allah’s protection against his destructive evil whispers. [Allaah (The Most High) said]:

[وَإِمَّا يَنزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلشَّيۡطَـٰنِ نَزۡغٌ۬ فَٱسۡتَعِذۡ بِٱللَّهِ‌ۖ إِنَّهُ ۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ – And if an evil whisper from Shaitan (Satan) tries to turn you away (O Muhammad) (from doing good, etc.), then seek refuge in Allah. Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower]. [Surah Fussilat’ Aayah 36]

If you sense that your soul is inclined towards showing off to the people and bragging about knowledge, then turn to Allaah, lower and humble yourself in His presence, and ask Him to grant you sincerity and to save you from Shaytaan – to save you from his whispers and plots. One of the scholars said, “Indeed, it is extremely difficult [upon a person] whose enemy can see him, but he cannot see him.” He [i.e. this scholar] said this when he explained the statement of Allah [The Blessed and Exalted] about Shaytaan and his armies: [إِنَّهُ ۥ يَرَٮٰكُمۡ هُوَ وَقَبِيلُهُ ۥ مِنۡ حَيۡثُ لَا تَرَوۡنَہُمۡ‌ۗ – Verily, he and (his soldiers from the jinns or his tribe) see you from where you cannot see them. [Surah Al-A’raaf’ Ayah 27]

He [i.e. that scholar] said, “By Allah! Indeed, it’s a bitter feud and extreme difficulty [for the one] whose enemy can see him, but he cannot see him, except for the one whom Allah safeguards’’- meaning: This enemy is more dangerous than the army you can see that has troops and strength. This hidden enemy – whom you cannot see – is extremely difficult and will destroy you whilst you are unaware and unable to see him. We ask Allaah for well-being”. [9]

Footnote b: Imaam Abu Shaamah [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: “When the command to adhere to the Jamaa’ah (the main body) is (mentioned), then the intent behind it is to adhere to the truth, even if those who follow it are few and those who oppose it are numerous. That is because the truth is that which the first Jamaa’ah was upon- the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] and his companions [may Allah be pleased with them]- and one does not give consideration to the numerous people of falsehood”. [9]

Imam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: Let every Muslim be careful of being deceived by the great numbers [of people upon such and such idea, view, belief, way of life, etc], whilst saying, “Indeed, the people have become such and such, and have become accustomed to such and such, so I am with them”. This is a great calamity, for indeed many people of the past were destroyed due to this [i.e. blindly following the majority]. Therefore, O sensible one! It is obligated on you to examine yourself; take account of yourself and adhere to the truth, even if the people abandon it. Beware of what Allaah has forbidden, even if the people do it, for indeed the truth is more worthy of being followed, just as Allaah [The Most High] said: [وَإِنْ تُطِعْ أَكْثَرَ مَنْ فِي الْأَرْضِ يُضِلُّوكَ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّه ِ -And if you obey most of those on earth, they will mislead you far away from Allah’s Path. [Surah Al An-aam Ayah 116]

And Allah [The Most High] said: [ وَمَآ أَڪۡثَرُ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَوۡ حَرَصۡتَ بِمُؤۡمِنِينَ-And most of mankind will not believe even if you desire it eagerly]. [Surah Yusuf Ayah 103] [11]

Al-Allaamah Muqbil Bin Haadee Al-Waadi’ee may Allah have mercy upon him] said: “If numbers are the scale by way of which you judge, then the majority are mostly blameworthy; and if persuasive speech and eloquence is the scale by way of which you judge, then indeed Allah described the Munaafiqoon that they have tongues that utter beautiful speech. Allah said: [وَإِن يَقُولُواْ تَسۡمَعۡ لِقَوۡلِهِمۡ – And when they speak, you listen to their words]. [Surah Al-Munaafiqoon. Ayah 4]

Therefore, what is given consideration is that one knows the people of truth by their characteristics – that they call to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, his family, and companions], and they neither desire reward from the people nor seeking to be thanked. [12]

The Goal Behind Co-operation

Allaah [The Most High] said: [ وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَىٰ ۖ وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ – Help you one another in Al-Birr and At-Taqwa [virtue, righteousness and piety]; but do not help one another in sin and transgression. [Surah Al-Maa’idah. Ayah 2]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: This Ayah contains all the Masaalih (things that will bring about benefit and repel harm) for the salves in their worldly affairs and in the Hereafter- amongst themselves or concerning their relationship with their Lord. That is because every servant finds himself within two circumstances and obligations – either to fulfil the obligations owed to Allah or the obligations owed to Allah’s creation. As for the obligations owed to the creation, they include (righteous) association, companionship, aiding one another upon what Allah loves, and obedience to Allah, and that is the goal behind one’s search for happiness and success in the afterlife. There can be no happiness in the afterlife except through righteousness and piety because it is the basis of all matters of the religion. A deed cannot be considered an act of obedience to Allah and an act that gets one close to Allaah until it is based on Eemaan, so that which leads to the performance of that deed is solely due to Imaan – neither (un-Islamic) customs nor desires, neither seeking praise nor status and other than it; rather it should be solely based on Eemaan and the aim behind it should be to attain Allaah’s reward and seeking after Allaah’s Pleasure. [13]

We ask Allah:

A Tremendous Supplication That Gathers Issues of [Aqeedah (Belief), Worship and Manners] Said After The Tashahud and Before Tasleem:

O Allah! By Your Knowledge of the unseen and by Your Power over creation, let me live if life is good for me, and let me die if death is good for me; O Allah! I ask You to grant me (the blessing of having) fear of You in private and public, and I ask You (to make me utter) a statement of truth in times of contentment and anger, and I ask You for moderation when in a state of wealth and poverty, and I ask you for blessings that never ceases, and I ask You for the coolness of my eye that never ends, and I ask You (to make me pleased) after (Your) decree; and I ask You for a life of (ease, comfort, tranquillity etc) after death; I ask You for the delight of looking at Your Face (i.e. in the Hereafter) and yearning to meet You without any harm and misleading trials (coming upon me); O Allah! Adorn us with the adornment of Imaan, and make us (from those who are) guided and guiding (others). [14]

O Allah! Rectify my religion for me, which is the safeguard of my affairs; rectify my worldly [affairs], wherein is my livelihood; and rectify my Afterlife to which is my return; and make life for me [as a means of] increase in every good and make death for me as a rest from every evil. [15]

[1] Reminders regarding sound (upright) moderation in all affairs

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah [The Exalted] says:

وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَٰكُمْ أُمَّةً وَسَطًا

Thus We have made you [أُمَّةً وَسَطًا ].

[Surah Al-Baqarah Ayah 143

[ٱلۡوُسۡطَ ] in the Shariah is that which is superior. Allah [The Most High] says: [حَـٰفِظُواْ عَلَى ٱلصَّلَوَٲتِ وَٱلصَّلَوٰةِ ٱلۡوُسۡطَىٰ – Guard strictly (five obligatory) As-Salawaat (the prayers) especially the Salatul Wustaa (the Asr prayer)]. [ٱلۡوُسۡطَىٰ]- Meaning, the best, most excellent. [a] The intent behind all this is to understand that [الوسطية] in the Religion is that which is best and the justice of the religion – adherence to that which Allah [The Mighty and Majestic] has commanded and keep away from that which He has forbidden. [1]

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi al-Mad’khali [may Allah preserve him] stated: The most beloved worship to Allah is that which is constant because the one who imposes on himself that which is beyond his ability (i.e. extra supererogatory acts of worship) which he may not be able to do, it is inevitable that his strength will disappear gradually, so he becomes weak or may even deviate because he imposed on himself that which is beyond what he can do (i.e. extra supererogatory acts of worship), deprive his (body) its rights, his family and others. (Salmaan) said to Abu Dardaa [may Allah be pleased with them], “Your Lord has rights on you, your self has a right on you, and your family has rights on you, so you should give the rights to all those who have a right on you” [b]

Abdullah Ibn Umar [may Allah be pleased with him and his father] used to fast constantly without a break and completed the recitation of the Qur’an every night, so Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] clarified for him and said, “It is enough for you to fast for three days a month”, so he said, “I can do more than that”. The Prophet said, “Your wife has a right on you, your guest has a right on you and your body has a right on you….so fast (in the manner that) Allah’s Prophet Dawud [peace be upon him] used to fast” [i.e. alternative days] [c] Therefore, balanced worship (i.e. related to extra optional acts of worship based on one’s ability and prevents one from neglecting the rights his wife, his body, his soul etc) preserves a person’s strength and enables him to be constant in worship. [3] Manhaj principles remain intact, whilst some say about the warning against Abu Makkah’s companion – [Muhammad Abdur-Razzaaq]- ”You’re warning against him openly, instead of advising first in private”

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Shaikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: “If a man commits evil openly, it is obligatory to denounce him openly, and this is not tantamount to backbiting him. It is obligatory to chastise him openly with what would prevent him from (the evil), such as boycotting and other than that”. [1]

Imam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allah have mercy upon him] was asked: “When should advice be given in private or openly?”

Response: The one giving advice does what is best. If he sees that it is more beneficial in secret, he advises secretly; if he sees that it is more beneficial to do so openly, he does so; but if the sin is committed in secret, the advice can only be given in secret. If he knows about his brother that he sins in secret, he advises him in secret and does not expose him. But if the sin is committed openly, – seen by the people, for example, a person starts drinking alcohol in a gathering, then one must denounce it openly; or if a person started calling (others) to drink alcohol or to fornicate, whilst one is present, he should say, “O my brother! This is not permissible”. [2]

It was said to Imam Al-Albaanee [may Allah have mercy upon him]: “The statement of some people or the stipulation of some of them is that it is more correct that advice must be given before refutations are printed- a copy must be sent to the one refuted so that it can be looked into. They say this is from the methodology of the pious predecessors”.

Response: This is not a condition, but if it is possible and it is hoped that affinity will be attained from this approach – in order not to announce the affair amongst the people, then this is undoubtedly a good thing; but as for making it a condition first and foremost, and secondly, making it a general condition, there is no wisdom in this at all. People, as you all know, are like mines of gold and silver (a), so whoever you know – about him – that he is with us on the path- upon the (sound) methodology and that he accepts advice, then you write to him without making his mistake known, and at least in your view this is good. But this is not a condition, and it would have been impossible (to implement fully) even if it were a condition. How would get his address and how would you be able to correspond with him? Also, will he send you a response or not? These are completely speculative affairs. This condition is very difficult to fulfil, and therefore the issue is not taken as a condition. [3]

Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khali [may Allah preserve him] was asked: “Our Shaikh, one of the affairs that have become circulated and have aroused an intense feeling among the Salafis, is that there are people who claim that advice is obligatory before warning. Is there a statement you can give in this matter?”

Response: I answered this question before – may Allaah bless you. We have been put to trial with these types of affairs, so you find a person spreading falsehoods, lies, and slander against others- both about individuals and in general; and if you give him advice or (respond with) criticism or something, he says, “Why did they not warn me, why did they not advise me, and why did they not explain to me”. (These statements of this person are) corrupt excuses. We seek from these people to repent to Allah and return to the truth with complete good manners and humility, and to leave such excuses. Assume that this one made a mistake and did not speak, and did not advise you, then (still) return to the truth and reprimand him thereafter. As for spreading (trouble) amongst the people and persisting in your falsehood and your mistakes, and saying, “They did not do and they did”, this is empty talk. It is obligated to a believer to return to Allah (in obedience, repentance, etc). You publish your mistakes in books, tapes, etc. If you hid your mistakes and committed them in the darkness of your house – (known only to) you and Allah, then this person discovers you, he would advise you – between you and him (only). As for disseminating your statements and (publicising) deeds in the world, then someone comes and publishes- meaning, replies to you (or rebuts you), there is nothing wrong with this -May Allah bless you. Leave these excuses (arise) from many of the people of falsehood who are rebellious in falsehood and stubbornness. [4]

Muhammad first fell into the Fitna of the Musaafiqah – extremism, [Footnote a] and now he is openly calling to the gatherings organised by the blazing hizbiyyoon of Greenlane. [Footnote b] Imaam Ibn Al-Qayyim [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: “The basis, origin of all theoretical knowledge and every wilfully chosen action are the thoughts (khawaatir) and ideas (afkaar). For they necessitate conceptions (visualisations, imaginations) [in the minds], and these conceptions invite towards iraadaat (i.e. the desires, will, intent for something), and these iraadaat require the occurrence of the action. And the frequent repetition of the occurrence of this action then leads to a habit. Hence, the rectitude of all of these steps lies in the rectitude of the (initial) thoughts and ideas, and the corruption (of all these steps) lies in them also…” [5]

When Shaikh Abu Khadeejah warned against Muhammad’s path, his companion Abu Makkah went into a frenzy, however, look at his present state of affairs while he calls to the gatherings of the Mumayyi’ah of Greenlane?!

[7] Remind those who praise or retweet without clarity that illegal partisans and their apologists do capture the hearts of unsuspecting tweeters with tweets regarding good manners

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said:

One of the plots and deceptions employed by Shaytaan is to entice a servant of Allah towards sinful behavior by using good manners, friendliness, and cheerfulness, so a person is approached in this manner by someone whose evil one cannot escape except with a smirk, frowning and turning away from him. The enemy (shaytaan) makes it fair-seeming to him to approach this person with a warm demeanor, a pleasant countenance, and charming words, thus establishing a bond with him. However, once he desires to distance himself from this person, he finds himself incapable of doing so. The enemy (shaytaan) persists in his efforts until he attains his objective, thus he cunningly manipulates a servant of Allah through the guise of good behavior and a pleasant countenance. Hence, the knowledgeable scholars concerning the (ailments, weaknesses, and strengths) of the heart advised that one should turn away from the advocates of Bidah- neither greeting nor displaying a friendly demeanor towards them, and instead meeting them with a frown and turning away. [1]

The Stance of As-Salaf As-Saalih [The Pious Predecessors] Against Ahlul Bidah

Ibn Abbaas [may Allaah be pleased with him and his father] said, “Do not sit with the people of desires, because indeed it causes sickness of the heart”. [2]

Sallaam Ibn Abee Mutee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: A man from the people of (vain) desires said to Ayyoub As-Sakhtiyaanee, “O Abaa-Bakr! I want to ask you about some statement”. Ayyoub walked away and started gesturing with his finger, saying, “Not even half a statement”. [3]

Shu’aib [may Allaah have mercy upon him] narrated: I said to Ibn Seereen, “What is your view with regards to listening to the people of (vain) desires (i.e. ahlul bidah)?” He said, “We neither listen to them nor honour (them)”. [4]

Imaam Fudayl Ibn Iyaad said, “Whoever sits with a person of bidah has not been given wisdom”. Al-Allaamah Saaleh Al-Fawzaan commented on this statement, saying,”He (i.e. the one who sits with a person of bidah) is deprived of wisdom, and wisdom is understanding of the religion ordained by Allah. The one who sits with ahlul bidah is deprived of understanding of the religion as punishment for him”. [5]

Allah [The Most High] said: [وَلَا تَرۡكَنُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ فَتَمَسَّكُمُ ٱلنَّارُ – And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you]. [Surah Hud: Ayah 113]

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khali [may Allah preserve him] said: The word [ظلم –wrong] can be disbelief, bidah and immoral behaviour because (ظلم) can apply to all [i.e. in different contexts]. Therefore, we refrain from inclining towards the evildoers, the people of bidah, the Kuffaar, the secularists and other than them. And we protect ourselves, our Aqeedah, the Iemaan and the sound religion which Allah has bestowed on us. It is enough for us to remember that the Salaf [pious predecessors] fled from temptations- neither mixing nor sitting and debating with the people of temptation. Even amongst them, such as the likes of Ayyoub As-Sakhtiyaanee and Ibn Seereen did not listen to the speech of those (people of bidah). And when Ibn Seereen was asked, “Why do you not speak? Why do you not listen to them?” He said, “Indeed, my heart is not in my hands! I am not in control of my heart, I fear for myself that I may be misguided”. So the likes of these Imaams feared temptation and deviation for themselves, but you the needy one possess that bravery to enable you to challenge ahlul bidah….!!! Many people say, “We sit with ahlul ahwaa (i.e. the people of vain desires) and we take (from them), we distinguish between truth and falsehood, we take what is truth and abandon falsehood”, whilst he (i.e. the utterer of this speech) is a needy one (in knowledge and Imaan) who can neither distinguish between truth and falsehood nor is he in control of his heart. How many young people have been put to trial through this satanic view and thus he is degraded, reverted on his heels (into misguidance) and depraved? He falls prey in the arena of the people of temptation! Therefore, it is obligated to a student of knowledge not to ((regard) himself safe from ahlul bidah because he is not more knowledgeable than Ayyoub and Ibn Seereen, nor can he reach their station (in knowledge, piety etc) and those who followed them. [6]

Imaam As-Saabooni [may Allah have mercy upon him] said:

They [i.e. Ahlul Hadeeth] hated Ahlul-Bid’ah – those who initiated into the religion what is not from it. They neither loved them nor kept company with them. They neither listened to their speech nor sat with them. They neither argued with them about the religion nor debated with them”. Al-Allaamah Rabee [may Allah preserve him] stated after quoting this statement: “How is this (the case)? Is this (view initiated) from themselves or guidance from Allah and His Messenger, and that which the pious predecessors adhere to? Allah [Glorified and Exalted be He] warned against Ahlul Bidah and clarified for us that they are people of (vain) desires and that they follow Mutashaabihaat (i.e. texts that are not entirely clear in what they indicate, so they are referred back to other texts to be explained) and they abandon the Muhkamaat (i.e. very clear texts). Aa’isha [may Allah be pleased with her] said: The Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] recited this Ayah:

It is He Who has sent down to you [Muhammad] the Book [this Qur’an]. In it are Verses that are (entirely clear, they are the foundations of the Book [and those are the Verses of Al-Ahkaam (commandments, etc.), Al-Faraa’id (obligatory duties) and Al-Hudood (legal laws for the punishment of thieves, adulterers, etc.)]; and others are Mutashaabihaat (i.e. not entirely clear in what they indicate, so they are to be referred back to the Muhkamaat to be explained]. So, as for those in whose hearts there is a deviation (from the truth) they follow that which is not entirely clear thereof, seeking Al-Fitnah (polytheism and trials, etc.), and seeking its ambiguous meanings, but none knows its hidden meanings except Allaah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: ‘’We believe in it; the whole of it (clear and unclear Verses) are from our Lord.” And none receive admonition except men of understanding.’’ [Surah Aal Imraan. Aayah 7]   She said: The Messenger said, “If you see those who follow thereof that is not entirely clear, then they are those whom Allah has named (as having deviation from the truth)] so beware of them”. [Bukhaari Number 4547]

Allah clarified that they (i.e. ahlul bidah) harbour (vain) desires and deviation, and that they intend to misguide themselves and other people! They desire temptation and intend to misguide the people, and that is why the Messenger mentioned them and described their condition to us. He said, “Indeed there will appear a people out of my Ummah in whom desires will run through them just as rabies runs through a dog”.

Ahlul Sunnah – no doubt – hate Ahlul bidah and Imaam (As Saabooni)] mentioned a number of them [i.e. senior scholars of ahlul hadeeth] that they all agreed upon hating (Ahlul bidah). However, amongst them [i.e Ahlul bidah] there are du’aat [callers to their bidah]- they are neither to be sat with nor debated with, except in cases of necessity and for a Maslahah [i.e. a carefully assessed benefit identified by rightly guided scholars amongst the scholars], (otherwise), it is not permissible to enter into debate with them. It is not permissible to enter into a specific debate with the Rawaafid if you are weak (i.e. in knowledge and character), except if one is a man who is firmly grounded in knowledge and religion, (very proficient in) establishing proofs, clever and a possessor of (force and strength that enables him to easily excel in debate with the clear proofs without being affected by doubts). Then if he sees a benefit in debating them, he debates them. [وَجَادِلْهُم بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ – and argue with them in a way that is better]. This is the legislated debate. Allah did not close the issue of debate completely, therefore, if we have a way of establishing the proof and guiding the people to good, we follow it. The one who is debated with may not benefit but others may benefit.

As for the weak one, then no (i.e. he does not engage in debate). Even amongst the scholars, there is one who is weak and led to be mistaken through Shub’hah [i.e. a statement or affair that resembles the truth but is falsehood in reality]. He may be a scholar but his character is weak, so he becomes weak in the presence of Ahlul bidah, even if they are younger than him and lesser in knowledge! Indeed, it has happened to many of those who ascribe to the Sunnah and Hadeeth due to their weakness and opposition to the methodology of the pious predecessors. Al Bayhaqqi was from the seniors of Ahlul hadeeth and their scholars and was deceived by some of the Ashaa’irah such as Ibn Fawrak and his ilk, so he fell into Ash’ariyyah! How many among the youth- in this era – have been ruined at the hands of Ahlul bidah?! How many youths, middle-aged men, and graduates from universities have been deceived by Ahlul bidah, and thus they fall into their arms?! They are deceived by the parties (of illegal partisanship) and thus fall into their arms! Why is this? Because they did not act upon the statement of the Messenger, “If you see those who follow thereof that is not entirely clear, then they are those whom Allah has named (as having deviation from the truth) so beware of them”. The strong one calls Ahlul bidah, he calls the Christians; there has to be Dawah in the path of Allah and there have to be strong scholars who disseminate the religion of Allah, and when necessary, they debate so that the proofs are established and benefit one who is to benefit. Manhaj principles remain intact, whilst Abu Makkah’s companion – [Muhammad Abdur Razzaaq] was rebuked by Shaikh Abu Khadeejah for calling to Musaafiqah (Ghuluww) and now recommending gatherings of Mumayyi’ah (Greenlane)

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khalee [may Allah preserve him] said:

When you embark upon the path in pursuit of knowledge- seeking understanding and acting upon it, this is one of the signs that Allah wishes good for you. Therefore, receive glad tidings, have good thoughts about Allah, and be sincere to Allah [The Blessed and Exalted] in your statements, deeds, and knowledge. Neither be deceived – we seek Allah’s Refuge from self-deception – nor feel safe from Allah’s plan. [فَلَا يَأۡمَنُ مَڪۡرَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلۡقَوۡمُ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرُونَ – None feels secure from the Plan of Allah except the people who are the losers]. [ Surah Al-A’raaf. Ayah 99]

A believer always fears that his situation will change. It has been reported from Aa’isha and Anas [may Allah pleased with them] that the Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] often (supplicated):

“يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِى عَلَى دِينِكَ – O turner of the hearts (Allah)! Keep my heart firm upon your religion”. I (i.e. Aa’isha or Anas) asked, “O Allah’s Messenger! We believe in you and what has been revealed to you, so do you fear for us?” He said, “Yes, indeed the hearts are between two fingers among the fingers of Allah and He turns them how He pleases”. By Allah! This is understanding that a person does not feel safe about himself because Satan flows through the human being like blood. (a) Therefore, a person should guard his heart, intellect, and deeds ardently more than he guards his wealth and honour. Whoever is given authority to look after his affairs is obligated to guard his heart before everything else. Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower]. [ Surah Al Imraan’ Ayah 8] [1]

I warn my brothers against the Fitan (trials, temptations) and that they turn to Allah (for help) to keep them steadfast in the Religion. They should supplicate a lot [just as Allah taught the believers that they say]:

[رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْوَهَّابُ – Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower]. [Surah Al Imraan’ Ayah 8]

They should make this tremendous supplication often and the supplication which Allah’s Messenger used to make often. Anas said that Allah’s Messenger used to say a lot, “O Turner of the hearts! Keep my heart firm upon your religion”. So the companions said, “O Allah’s Messenger! Do you fear for us?” He said, “Yes, indeed the hearts are between two fingers from the fingers of Allah, and He turns them however He wills”. Therefore, the believer does not feel secure from Allah’s plan. [فَلَا يَأۡمَنُ مَڪۡرَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلۡقَوۡمُ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرُونَ – None feels secure from the Plan of Allah except the people who are the losers]. [Surah Al-A’raaf, Ayah 99][2]

Shaikh Abu Khadeejah [may Allah preserve him] was asked about Muhammad Abdur Razzaaq [may Allah guide him]:

Shaikh Abu Khadeejah replied:

Muhammad first fell into the Fitna of the Musaafiqah – extremism, [Footnote a] and now he is calling to the gatherings organised by the blazing hizbiyyoon of Greenlane. Hence, the rectitude of all of these steps lies in the rectitude of the (initial) thoughts and ideas, and the corruption (of all these steps) lies in them also…” [3]

When Shaikh Abu Khadeejah warned against Muhammad’s path, his companion Abu Makkah went into a frenzy, however, look at his present state of affairs while he calls to the gatherings of the Mumayyi’ah of Greenlane?!

Being older than others in our communities does not, in and of itself, make us one of “The Elders”

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Sahl Bin Abu Hathma and Rafi’ Bin Khadij reported that Abdullah Bin Sahl Bin Zaid and Muhayyisa Bin Mas’ud Bin Zaid went out and as they reached Khaibar they were separated. Then Muhayyisa found Abdullah Bin Sahl having been killed. He buried him and then came to Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him].

They were Huwayyisa Bin Mas’ud and ‘Abdur Rahman Bin Sahl, and he (the latter one) was the youngest of the people (those three who had come to seek an interview with the Prophet) began to talk before his Companions (had spoken). Thereupon Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said, “The eldest one (in age should speak)”. So, he kept quiet, and his companions (Muhayyisa and Huwayyisa) began to speak, and he (Abdur-Rahmaan) spoke along with them and they narrated to Allah’s Messenger the murder of Abdullah Bin Sahl. Thereupon he said to them, “Are you prepared to take fifty oaths so that you may be entitled (to blood-wit) of your companion (or your man who has murdered)?” They said, “How can we take an oath on a matter which we have not witnessed?” He (the Prophet) said, “Then the Jews will exonerate themselves by fifty oaths”. They said, “How can we accept the oaths of people who are unbelievers?” When Allah’s Messenger saw that, he paid his blood-wit. [Sahih Muslim 1669]

After three Ahaadeeth were quoted – including the above one regarding the murder of Abdullah Bin Sahl, Imam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allah have mercy upon him] stated, “These three Ahaadeeth are the same as those before them in clarification of giving precedence to people of virtue, knowledge, and those of old age over those younger than them, giving concern to the affair by placing them in their deserved position in which Allah has placed them, as has preceded in the statement of the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him], “The one who is well grounded in Allah’s Book and is distinguished among them in recitation should act as Imam for the people, and if they are equally versed in reciting it, then the one who has most knowledge regarding Sunnah; if they are equal regarding the Sunnah, then the earliest one to emigrate; If they emigrated at the same time, then the oldest one in age. No man must lead another in prayer in the latter’s house or where (the latter) has authority, or sit in his place of honour in his house, except that he permits you or with his permission”. [1]

Imam Muhammad Ibn Saalih Al-Uthaymeen [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “The apparent context of the hadith is that the three came to Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] to relate the news, so Muhayyisa wanted to speak because he was the one who had the story and knew about it, and Abdur Rahman Bin Sahl did not speak because he was not present, or because he was the youngest of the people, or because the intent was to mention the case without making a claim; otherwise who would have had more right to speak? It would have been Abdur Rahman Bin Sahl, Abdullah’s brother because he is his heir. Muhayyisa and Huwayyisa are cousins of the murdered, but why did Muhayyisa want to speak even though he was lesser than a brother in relationship? That is because he had the story and knew about it. And why did Abdur Rahmaan not speak? It was either because of his young age or because he was sufficed with the statement of Muhayyisa due to him being the witness of the incident or because the intent was to mention the case and not the claim, otherwise if the intent was the claim, then Abdur Rahmaan Bin Sahl would have been the most entitled to speak, then Huwayyisa and then Muhayyisa”. [2]

First, what we want to emphasise here is that, in terms of age comparison, being older than someone else does not automatically make us one of the “elders” in your community. While one may be older and perhaps more experienced than those around him in some important matters, that does not automatically make him one of “The Elders of a Community” because that comes with other specific matters. As for the behaviour expected from a Muslim towards others, Al-Allaamah Rabee bin Haadi Al-Mad’khali [may Allah preserve him] said, “The student of knowledge should respect the elders, honour his contemporaries and shows mercy to those below his age”. [3] In essence, “the elders of communities ” are people who have reached the age of 50 and above, both inside and outside of the community. Here, we don’t mean elders in terms of knowledge; rather, we mean elders in terms of age and they are the ones we refer to as Shaikh in age. “Shaikh is the one whose age has become manifest and gray hair has appeared. It was said, ‘he is a Shaikh (when one reaches) 50 until the end of his life’, and it said, ‘he (is a person who has reached) 51 until the end of his life’. It was said, ‘It is from 50 to 80′”. [4] Also, the term can be used to refer to a righteous man, as Abdur Rahmaan Bin Abee Haatim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: I heard my father saying, “Hajjaaj Bin Firaasatah is a righteous Shaikh – one devoted to worship”. [5]

Second, as for when the term is used to refer to a person of knowledge, Raaghib Al-Isfahaanee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: “It is said about the one who is aged ‘The Shaikh’. And it may be used among us regarding someone who has a lot of knowledge because one of the affairs related to a Shaikh is that he has a lot of experience and knowledge”. [6] However, someone who is under 50 may be called a “Shaikh” because of their understanding of the Shariah. Many of us are well aware of the fact that Shaikh Abdus Salaam Burgess [may Allah have mercy upon him] was a Shaikh even before he turned 40. Shaikh Abu Khadeejah [may Allah preserve him] and other elder students of knowledge can give you an insight into the knowledge of this virtuous Shaikh because they knew him well.

Third, Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud [may Allah be pleased with him] said, “The people will not cease to be upon good as long as knowledge comes to them from the companions of Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him], and from their elders. If knowledge comes from their young ones, then that is when they will be ruined”. [7]

Ibn Qutaybah [may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “The intent behind this statement is that the people will not cease to be upon good as long as their scholars are Shaikhs and not young because the Shaikh (in most cases) have lost the pleasure-seeking of youth, its intensity, haste, and foolishness. He is accompanied by experience and insight, so (in most cases) neither ambiguity enters his knowledge nor is he overcome by (vain) desire, nor inclined towards covetousness, nor does Shaytan make him slip as he does to a young person. Age accompanies composure, dignity, and veneration, but the young people may be subject to these matters that the Shaikh is safe from, which if they enter a young person, he issues a fatwa and thus destroys him and others”. [8] However, this is not absolute regarding the young ones because there were a group of the Sahaabah and the Taabi’een who taught and gave verdicts at a young age, whilst the elders were present, but the likes of these people are hard to find among those who came after them. So, if they are found and are known for being upright- upon a sound [guidance], possess knowledge, and their firmness is manifested, whilst there are no elders to be found, then knowledge of the Shariah is acquired from them if they are free from Fitnah! Therefore, the intent is not that the knowledge possessed by the young person is boycotted, whilst the elders are present; rather the intent is that the people are placed in their rightful positions. [9]

Finally, Ahlus Sunnah always return to their senior scholars in times of adversity, as Al-Allaamah Ubaid Bin Abdillah Al-Jaabiri [may Allah have mercy upon him] said: “When the people of virtue and righteousness were faced with adversity and an intricate affair, they would go to the Senior people of knowledge to ask them and seek a Jawaab Ash-Shaafee Al-Kaafee [i.e. an appropriate answer that would bring about the rectification of the religious affairs and preservation of the well-being of the people based on the Qur’an and the Sunnah]. This is a followed path –beginning since the era of the Prophet’s companions, then the Imaams of the Taabi’een, and then –after them- the people of knowledge, virtue, religion, and Iemaan. And beautiful is what Ibn Mas’ud said, ‘The people will not cease to be righteous and upright as long as knowledge comes to them from the companions of Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] and their elders; but if knowledge comes to them from their young ones, they will be ruined'”. [1] Manhaj principles remain intact regardless of books taught or presence – in Greenlane – of Shaikh from abroad! [Abu Makkah’s companion – (Muhammad Abdur Razzaaq) Reminded]

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Al-Allaamah Ubaid Bin Abdillah Al-Jaabiri [may Allah have mercy upon him] was asked: This questioner says: What is obligated to the common Salafis concerning those du’aat (callers) about whom the scholars differ in their commendations and criticisms, regardless of whether they (i.e. the common Salafis) are aware or unaware of their mistakes (i.e. the mistakes of those callers)?

Answer: I say: I advise you; neither accept cassettes nor books except those of a person whom you know to be upon the Sunnah and a witness of that is established for him—the one well-known to be upon the Sunnah and an opposition to it is not manifested from him. This is an (abiding) general principle applied to him whilst he is alive and after his death. The one who passed away and we regarded him to be upon the Sunnah, then in our view he is upon the Sunnah and we ask Allah to keep him firm upon it in the afterlife [i.e. Allah grants him firmness to answer the questions in the grave due to adherence to the Sunnah (Tawheed and following the Messenger) and resurrects him in the afterlife as a person of Sunnah] just as he was kept firm upon it whilst he was alive…Ameen. This is the first affair. If the affair of a person is hidden from you–the one whose books and cassettes are famous and his fame is widespread–then ask those who are well acquainted with him and those who know about his state of affairs. That is because neither is the Sunnah hidden nor are its people. A man’s Tazkiyah (i.e. the clear witness that he is upright upon the Sunnah) are his actions. His Tazkiyah are his actions that he is upon the Sunnah. It is the witness and the people mention him with it during his life and after his death. None hides behind the Sunnah– the people beguiled by him, gathered around him to learn, adhered to him, became dependent on him, and accepted everything he said–except that Allah will reveal his affair, uncover and expose his concealed state of affairs to specific individuals and the general public, regarding what was hidden and apparent of his deception, his mixing truth with falsehood, his plots and deceitful practices. Allah facilitates men of virtue, intelligence, wisdom, strength, and exceptional natural ability–possessors of knowledge, skill, and sound understanding of the religion–through whom He (Allah) unveils the affair of that trickster, dubious, and deceitful person.

Therefore, it is incumbent upon you that when the state of that person is made clear–the one whose fame is widespread, etc.–then you should be cautious of him as long as he was warned against by those people of knowledge and Imaan who are upon the Sunnah because they will unveil his affair with evidence. And there is no hindrance in unveiling the state of that person who has been warned against by a scholar or scholars with the appropriate etiquettes and in a good manner because that scholar will say to you: “I saw this and that in him, and I saw this and that in the book of such and such, or I heard this or that in the cassette of such and such.” Therefore, you have clear evidence that will unveil what was hidden from you, and that the one whose fame is widespread and whose speech is pleasant hides something of innovation and plotting, which cannot be compared to what he manifests from the Sunnah.

Secondly: The one who knows of a mistake and it is clear to him, then it is not permissible for him to blindly follow a scholar to whom an affair is hidden. And indeed you already heard yesterday that the scholars are not infallible in their Ijtihaadaat. Therefore, it is not permissible to adopt them (i.e. the mistakes of the scholars) as a methodology (to follow).

The Shaikh also said: A scholar from Ahlus Sunnah is only a human, he can be distracted and forgetful, deceived by evil people, or he used to consider that man to be trustworthy–who has now been declared untrustworthy–and he deceives him. The witnesses to this affair are many because many of those whose status has been dropped– due to being declared unreliable based on evidence–are in reality people who wage war against the Sunnah and its people. So, they come along with copies of their books and read them to the distinguished scholars–those whom virtue and leadership are witnessed for them in the religion–and the affair of this trickster and plotter is hidden from that noble scholar, which had he known about it the status of this person would have dropped in his eyes. So, this scholar gives praise based on what he heard. If the book (of this trickster) is printed, it is disseminated and transmitted by his supporters and they spread a good reputation about him. Thus some argue saying, “Such and such praised him– Al-Albaanee, or Ibn Baaz, or Ibn Al-Uthaymeen praised this book. However, these scholars are excused; rather this trickster was hidden from that scholar. So, what remains? We establish the evidence against this [deceiver, trickster, intrigant, and plotter] from his books. We establish the manifest clarifications against him from his books, and we say to the one who argues with us, “Take it, this is his speech”. Therefore, it is obligated to you to be fair, free from that wild and zealous attachment, and from desires that blind a person. It is obligated to you that your search should be for the truth. [1]

Some reminders from Al-Allaamah Ubaid’s [may Allah have mercy upon him] clarification

“A man’s Tazkiyah (i.e. the clear witness that he is upright upon the Sunnah) are his actions. His Tazkiyah are his actions that he is upon the Sunnah. It is the witness and the people mention him with it during his life and after his death”.

“Therefore, it is incumbent upon you that when the state of that person is made clear–the one whose fame is widespread, etc.–then you should be cautious of him as long as he was warned against by those people of knowledge and Imaan who are upon the Sunnah because they will unveil his affair with evidence”. “The one who knows of a mistake and it is clear to him, then it is not permissible for him to blindly follow a scholar to whom an affair is hidden. And indeed you already heard yesterday that the scholars are not infallible in their Ijtihaadaat. Therefore, it is not permissible to adopt them (i.e. the mistakes of the scholars) as a methodology (to follow)”. “A scholar from Ahlus Sunnah is only a human, he can be distracted and forgetful, deceived by evil people, or he used to consider that man to be trustworthy–who has now been declared untrustworthy–and he deceives him. First, we remind Muhammad Abdur Razzaaq that what is given paramount importance is the evidence and acting upon it, but not sheltering behind this or that Shaikh for some time and then returning to one’s corruption after the departure of the Shaikh. Arabic Text:

[5] Remind those who praise or retweet without clarity that there are those who claim Salafiyyah but follow a misconstrued or so-called balanced path when dealing with ahlul bidah

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Madkhali [may Allah preserve him] said:

After speaking about those who make Takfeer based on falsehood [1] amongst the different factions of the Jahmiyah [2], the Khawaarij [3], the Rawaafid and the Qadariyyah [4], and the reason behind such Takfeer, Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated, “On the opposite side of these people who make Takfeer based on falsehood, there are people who do not know the creed of Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jamaa’ah as it should be, or they know some and are ignorant of some. And perhaps what they know of it, they do not clarify for the people, rather they conceal it. Neither do they forbid Bidah nor censure ahlul bidah and punish them; rather, perhaps they would censure speech related to the Sunnah and the fundamental principles of the religion – completely – and would not differentiate – in that – between what Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa’ah say [i.e. adherents to the sound Prophetic Sunnah and sound unity] and what ahlul bidah wal furqah say [i.e. the proponents of innovation in religious affairs who split (disunite due to their opposition to the correct path)], or they would affirm all their differing Madhabs [creeds, paths] in a manner similar to how the scholars would affirm the different opinions related to affairs of Ijtihaad about which difference of opinion is justified. [5] This path has overwhelmed many of the Murji’ah, some of the jurists, those pursuing the path of asceticism and the philosophers, just as it has overwhelmed – first and foremost – many amongst the people of desires and rhetoric. Both these paths are perverted, outside the Book [i.e. The Qur’an] and the Sunnah”. [End of Quote]

After quoting the above statement of Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah, Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi said, “I say, may Allah have mercy on Ibn Tamiyyah. Indeed, he clarified the situation of the people of his era and those before them, then what if he saw the situation of many amongst the Al-Jamaa’aat Al-Hizbiyyah Wal-Bid’iyyah [The Groups of Illegal Partisanship and Bidah [6] who ascribe themselves to Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jamaa’ah and take cover behind them – in particular – to promote their falsehoods! What if he saw them whilst they have definitely gathered between the Madhabs [creeds paths] of the two groups- the khawaarij and those who follow their way in pronouncing Takfeer in the subject matter of Al-Haakimiyyah [7] and the way of the Mur’jiah [8] in the manner they approach the affair of people who are upon the big and numerous innovations in religious affairs, and equating innovation in religion to those affairs of the religion in which Ijtihaad is justified, whose people are rewarded alongside a refutation against their mistakes! In the view of these people, the leaders of Misguidance and Bidah are like the Imams of Guidance and Sunnah. [9] [An Excerpt from “Al-Mahajjatul Baydaa Fee Himaayatis Suunatil Gharraa Min Zallaati Ahlil Akhtaa’i Wa Zayghi Ahlil Ahwaa” 117-118]

Finally, Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyah said, “Rather what is obligatory is to clarify that which Allah sent His Messengers with and (revealed) in His Books, propagate that which the Messengers brought from Allah and fulfil the covenant which Allah took from the scholars. Therefore, it is obligatory to know that which the Messengers brought, believe in it, propagate it, call to it, striving with it, weigh up all that which the people embark upon – [statements, actions, religious fundamentals and subsidiary issues pertaining to the apparent actions of the Limbs and affairs related to actions of the heart]- under the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger, neither following desires [through] customs, a school of law, a religious order, a leader or a predecessor, nor following conjecture through a weak hadeeth or corrupt analogy, regardless whether it is an analogy that offers some degree of certainty or not, or blindly following someone who it is not obligated to follow his statement and action because Allah -in His Book – has censured those who follow conjecture and that which their souls desire, whilst they abandon following that which came to them from their Lord of Guidance”. Footnote5: What is Ijtihaad: https://www.abukhadeejah.com/tolerated-differing-and-impermissible-differing-in-islaam/ ]

Amr bin Al-Aas [may Allah be pleased with him] narrated that he heard Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] saying, ‘’If a Mujtahid gives a verdict according to the best of his knowledge and his verdict is correct, he will receive a double reward, and if he gives a verdict according to the best of his knowledge and his verdict is wrong, even then he will get a reward.’’ [Bukhari Number 7352]

Few Issues From This Hadeeth

[a] A Mujtahid (a scholar who strives to reach a judgement) is not deprived of reward. [b] The judgement of a non-Mujtahid is different from that of a Mujtahid. Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah said that the one who speaks about the religion without knowledge and out of ignorance [is guilty of] lying and sinning. The one who intentionally speaks to oppose the truth is threatened with entry into the fire of hell, as opposed to the affair of the one who speaks based on permissible Ijtihaad, for indeed he strives, fears Allaah as much as he is able, desires to seek knowledge as much as he was able, speaks for the sake of Allaah, knows the stronger proof and speaks based on that. This person is given two rewards if he is correct; but if he is mistaken, he receives one reward. [c] A Mujtahid can be correct or mistaken. [Arba’oona Hadeethaa Fee Usoolil Fiqh. pages 32-33]

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee said, “We do not say that there are people of ijtihaad amongst ahlul bidah because they are followers of desires, and Allaah and His Messenger have testified to this. The misguided innovator stirs up discord and errs, and then says to you, ‘This is ijtihaad’. When Hikmatiyaar and the misguided parties [in Afghanistan] murdered Shaikh Jameel Ur-Rahmaan, they said: ‘This is ijtihaad.’ They do not fall into an affair of misguidance or a calamity except that they say, “This is ijtihaad.” This is [tantamount] to diluting Islaam, falsehood, misguidance, bidah and confounding truth with falsehood, when the mistakes of the [true and qualified scholars of ijtihaad]- for which they are rewarded- are placed at the same level with innovation, about which the Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] declared to be a path that will lead to the hell fire”.
