قال الإمام أحمد

إياكم أن تكتبوا عن أحد من أصحاب الأهواء ؛ قليلا ولا كثيرا

Imaam Ahmad [rahimahullaah] said: Beware of writing down [knowledge] from one of the people of desires-be it a little or a lot. [Siyar 11/231]

Sa’eed Ibn Amr Al-Bardha’ee [rahimahullaah] said: I witnessed [when] Abu Zur’ah was asked about Haarith Al-Muhaasibee and his books; so he said to the questioner: Beware of these books; they are books of bidah and misguidance. [Al-Meezaan 2/165]

Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said:

The basis of the misguidance of these ones is their belief that the Imaams of guidance and the Jamaa’ah [i.e. the Salafus Saaleh] have exited the (confines) of justice and are misguided. This is the view of those who have abandoned the Sunnah, such as the Raafidah and those similar to them. And that which they consider to be oppression, they hold that it s disbelief and then innovate rulings for it. These are the three stances [i.e. they revile the Salaf, declare certain acts as oppression and then innovate rulings against them] held by those who exit the Sunnah, such as the Harooriyyah, the raafidah and those similar to them. They isolate some of the fundamental principles of the Islamic Religion until they exit from it (completely), just like an arrow goes through a hunted game.

Shaikh Saaleh al-Fawzaan says that we should thank Allaah (The Most High) Who repelled the (recent) plot perpetrated by the Hoothi Shiite Raafidah against the Sacred House (i.e. Masjid Al-Haraam) and we should supplicate against them, for indeed they are worthy of punishment. They are not the first people to attack the sacred house, rather the Qaraamitah and likewise Abrahah wanted to destroy the kabah, but Allaah is Ever Watchful Over Them. Allaah [The Most High] stated: [أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَابِ الْفِيلِ   – Have you (O Muhammad) not seen how your Lord dealt with the Owners of the Elephant?]

This was about the king of Abyssinia who came along with a huge elephant to destroy the Ka’bah, but Allaah repelled them- Allaah sent them birds in flocks and each bird carried three stones, one in its beak and two in the legs. The birds pelted them with the stones – the stones smashed the skulls of the disbelievers and exited from their anuses, and not a single one of them survived.

Allaah said:

أَلَمۡ تَرَ كَيۡفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصۡحَـٰبِ ٱلۡفِيلِ (١) أَلَمۡ يَجۡعَلۡ كَيۡدَهُمۡ فِى تَضۡلِيلٍ۬ (٢) وَأَرۡسَلَ عَلَيۡہِمۡ طَيۡرًا أَبَابِيلَ (٣) تَرۡمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍ۬ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ۬ (٤) فَجَعَلَهُمۡ كَعَصۡفٍ۬ مَّأۡڪُولِۭ (٥)

Have you (O Muhammad) not seen how your Lord dealt with the Owners of the Elephant? [The elephant army which came from Yemen under the command of Abrahah Al-Ashram intending to destroy the Ka’bah at Makkah]. Did He not make their plot go astray? And sent against them birds, in flocks, Striking them with stones of Sijjil. And made them like an empty field of stalks (of which the corn has been eaten up by cattle).

This year was called the year of the elephant – the year in which the Messenger of Allah [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] was born.

Likewise, what did the Qaraamitah do? They killed the pilgrims at the sacred house and at Arafah. They took the black stone to another place they built and called it a Ka’bah. They placed the black stone in that building and it remained there for more than twenty years until Allaah (willed) that it was to be returned to the Kabah (at Makkkah). This act (i.e. attacking the sacred land) is an act of the Shiites and the Raafidah. These Shiites –Hoothi Shiites- are upon the way of their forefathers and Allaah is Ever Watchful Over Them. Shameless and Pathetic Slanderers- [Do You Still Claim That Daa’ish Is An Extension (or Part) of the Dawah of Imaam Muhammad Bin Abdul Wahhaab?!]

Shaikh Ali bin Yahya bin Ali Al ‘Amiree Al Hadadi (may Allaah preserve him) stated:

Indeed, from the behaviour of the people of falsehood is that they attribute themselves or their innovations to the Book or the Sunnah, or to some of the companions (of Muhammad), or the virtuous (scholars) of the Ummah, until the people are deceived and follow their bidah and misguidance. So when the vileness of bidah and the ugliness of its proponents becomes manifest, the enemies of Islaam and the Sunnah strive to spread rumours that that group (of callers to falsehood) are adherents (to what Islaam preaches), or that they are followers of the Sunnah. The intent behind this (false claim of the enemies) is to distort Islaam’s good image and the (authentic) Sunnah, in order to obstruct the spread of pure Islaam, which is free from Bidah and newly invented affairs (in creed, worship, corrupt dealings and deeds etc).

For example, when the ugly ways of Daa’ish (i.e. so called Islamic State) appeared in the east and the west – which is founded upon oppression, transgression, shedding bloodshed without right, Takfeer without right, forcing the people out of their homes, destroying the lands, making preparations to fragment the Islamic nations and the Arab lands in particular by causing chaos in them, weakening them with trials from within and other than that (i.e. other troubles), whose evil and repugnance is not hidden- many of the enemies of the kingdom of (Saudi Arabia) and (the enemies) of the Dawah of the Imaam-The Reviver- Muhammad Bin Abdil Wahhaab (rahimahullaah) claimed that Daa’ish are an extension (or part) of the Dawah of Muhammad Bin Abdil Wahhaab and the Aqeedah of Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah). This (claim of the enemies) is a lie, a fabrication and slander, which is neither supported by proof nor evidence.

Saudi Arabia was among the first Islamic nations-from the beginning- that freed itself from Daa’ish, Jabhatun Nusrah, Hizbula and other terrorist organizations through a well known clarification.  Also, Daa’ish neither gives its loyalty to Saudi nor do they love Saudi, rather they have not ceased disseminating audios in which they excommunicate the rulers of Saudi and the scholars, and declaring that it is lawful to shed their blood. Thereafter, they targeted some of the mosques and places through explosive devices and suicide attacks as it is well known. Therefore, how can a sensible person believe this cheap slander (i.e. that Daa’ish is an extension or part of Saudi’s views or creed)?!

The Month of Al-Muharram and Fasting on the day of Ashoorah

O people! Fear Allaah (The Most High) and thank Him for the apparent and unapparent blessings He has bestowed upon you.  He has not ceased granting you occasions of good and virtue.  The month of hajj has elapsed and now you have reached the month of Al-Muharram, which Allaah has specially chosen.

Firstly: Muharram is amongst those months in which Allaah made fighting forbidden.  Allaah (The Most High) said:

(إِنَّ عِدَّةَ الشُّهُورِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْراً فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ)

‘’ Verily, the number of months with Allah is twelve months (in a year), so was it ordained by Allah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are Sacred.’’ [9:36]

These four months are: Dhul Qida, Dhul Hijja, the Month of Muharram and Rajab—Allaah made fighting forbidden during these months in order that those who performed the Hajj and Umrah are safe in their journey to Hajj and Umrah.  However, when Islaam came—all praise is due to Allaah—safety became widespread and the disbelievers were driven away and Jihaad in the path of Allaah (The Might and Majestic) was established whenever that was possible.

Indeed this month of Muharram has virtue; the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: ‘’The best fasting after the month of Ramadhaan is the fasting in the month of Muharram.’’  So it is desired to increase in fasting during this month.  It is the month that the companions—during Umar’s time (radiyallaahu-anhu)—chose to be the beginning of the Hijri calendar.

Virtues of the Month of Muharram

Amongst its greatest virtues is that the Day of Ashoorah is found within it.  It is a Day in which the Prophet (sallal-laahua-alayhi-wasallam) selected for the performance of fasting.  Likewise, Moosaa (alayhis-sallam) fasted on this day in order to thank Allaah for drowning pharaoh and his people.  And after the death of Moosa (alayhis-salaam), the Jews also used to fast on this day of Ashoorah.

When the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) arrived in Madeenah, he found the Jews fasting on this day of Ashoorah, so he said to them: ‘’What is this fasting of yours?’’  They said: ‘’It was the day Allaah gave victory to Moosa and his people and humiliated pharaoh and his people.  Indeed, Moosaa fasted on this Day, so we also fast. So the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: We have more right to (follow) Moosaa than you.’’

The Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) continuously fasted this day and commanded the companions to fast as well.  However, the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) want us to oppose the Jews, so he commanded us to fast a day before Ashoorah (i.e. the 9th of Muharram) before fasting on the 10th (i.e. Day of Ashoorah); and it is stated in another narration: ‘’A day after it (i.e. a day after Ashoorah); but fasting on the 9th day of Muharram before fasting the 10th of Al-Muharram (i.e. the day of Ashoorah) is more established.

So we fast on the day of Ashoorah (i.e. the 10th of Muharram) in order to follow the example of Allaah’s Prophet Moosaa (alayhis-salaam), and it was the day in which Allaah gave victory to the Muslims (of Bani Israaeel).   It is victory for the Muslims until the Day of Judgement and a blessing from Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic) for which He is thanked through the act of fasting.

Fasting on the Day of Ashoorah is a Sunnah Mu-akkadah [i.e. a practice the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) performed continuously).  Therefore, the Muslim fasts on the 9th of Muharram and the 10th of Muharram, and this is a Sunnah that has continued—all praise is due to Allaah—and fasting on this day is emphasized, whilst seeking Allaah’s reward and in order to thank Him.

The way of the Prophets and their true followers is that they thank Allaah for giving them victory through performance of acts of obedience and remembrance of Allaah.  However, they do not innovate anything in this affair because that was the way of the people of the Pre-Islamic period of ignorance.  It is not permissible for a Muslim to exceed the limits in this affair.

As for the shia, they make the Day of Ashoorah a Day of sadness, weeping and wailing—may Allaah disfigure them—because it was the day Husain (radiyallaahu-anhu) who was murdered.  Indeed calamity is not to be faced with wailing, sins and evil deeds; rather it should be faced with obedience to Allaah and hoping for Allaah’s reward.  There is no doubt that the killing of Husain (radiyallaahu-anhu) was a calamity, but Allaah commanded us to exercise patience and hope for His reward during calamities.  What is legislated on this Day of Ashoorah is that we fast and there should be no newly invented matters in the religion.

Likewise, there are those ignorant ones amongst the Sunnis who consider this Day as a day of happiness and some of them call it the New Year; so they behave generously towards their children, serving them food and bestowing gifts to one another.  Indeed, these affairs are innovations and newly invented matters in the religion, and they are not permissible.  This action of those ignorant Sunnis is the other side of falsehood compared to the actions of the shia! The shia grieve and the ignorant Sunnis display happiness.  Do they (i.e. these ignorant Sunni) show happiness for murder of Husain (radiyallaahu-anhu), because this ignorant act will be considered as a manifestation of happiness due to the murder of Husain (radiyallaahu-anhu) on this Day.   Therefore, it is obligated upon the Muslim to follow the Sunnah and abandon innovations in the religion.  Innovations in the religion are not opposed with other innovations worse than them; rather innovations are opposed by abandoning them and reviving the Sunnah.
