Shaikh bin Baz on “Near-Death Experiences” and that Which is Witnessed

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

It is common to hear of individuals who have had “near-death experiences”, vision of seeing strange lights amongst other strange affairs, the following is regarding the story of an individual written in a  newspaper some 30 years ago, however the content is relevant as a generic matter.

The story narrates how a particular individual fell into a coma and it was mistakenly thought that he had actually died, and so he was consequently buried. He was however actually alive, and upon discovering that, he was removed and rescued from his grave 3 days later. That individual then narrated the “strange and fascinating” sights he witnessed whilst buried underground in his grave in the “close-to-death” experience, he makes mentions of Angels etc….[the exact content of the narration is not of importance, however the following response is].

The following statement [summarised] is the response of Shaikh ibn Baz to this individual’s narration of what he apparently witnessed.

“Due to some people believing such false stories I considered it important to highlight and alert the attention of people to the reality of this affair. In reality this is a complete and utter lie falsified by the claimant [narrations of seeing things from the after-life in so called near-death experiences]. It is known in the Legislation of Islam that the 2 Angels do not come to an individual until he actually dies, they do not come to someone who is still alive in this manner [coma or otherwise]  for the questionning [!]. [They] invent such stories of [near-death experiences] of seeing all types of strange affairs for other degrading gains [i.e. money from selling the story]”.

Part 8: The False Principles of Ali Halabi (The Innovator)

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Halabi’s state of affairs exploded when he authored his book titled Manhajus Salaf As-Saalih in 1429AH to wage a so called war against ”Those who exceed the limits when criticising others”; however in reality this book manifested the corrupt principles he used to hide from the Salafis, which he established in order to decfend the people of innovation and aid the Manhaj of Tamyee. This Manhaj of Tamyee was firstly established by Abul Hasan Al-Maribi (The Innovator), but Halabi completed it.

Therefore, Shaikh Rabee and his students refuted and warned against Halabi’s book but they refrained from declaring him an innovator.  Then Halabi and his students set up a website to wage war against Shaikh Rabee and his students, and they were accompanied by some of the people of ignorance and desires who raised his status.  They went into extremes in speaking ill of the Salafi Scholars of this era and described them with the ugliest descriptions.  They also propagated the doubts of ikhwaan al-Muslimeen and that of the illegal partisans until this website became a place for some of the deviants and the people of Tamyee; and until one could not notice a big difference between it and the websites of the ikhwaan al-Muslimeen and the people of illegal partisanship; and until he manifested an affair which no truthful salafi can ignore – his praise of the Book titled ‘Risaalatu Amaan’ a book that contained statements concerning Wahdatul Adyaan [the call to the unity of  Religions].

So the Salafis refuted Halabi for praising this Book and clarified the severity of the affair.  However, his students defended and praised the book, and they warned against those who refuted it.  Then Halabi agreed with his students in their defence of the book and this was a great catastrophe.  Then Shaikh Rabee warned against Halabi and declared him an innovator.

The Difference Between Evil Eye and Envy – Shaikh ibn ul-Uthaymeen

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

A very beneficial advice from Shaikh ibn ul-Uthaymeen for all those afflicted by evil eye or envy of others, and to all those who are afflicted by whispers causing them distress in this regard.

Q: “What is the difference between the evil eye and envy and how do we protect ourselves from them?”

A: “There is no practical difference , but the origin of the evil eye is from envy, that is because the one who causes the evil eye – and we seek refuge in Allah – has in his heart envy for the servants of Allah and he does not love any good for anyone. If therefore he sees something from a person that pleases him and he is envious then this emotion eminates from him and afflicts the individual he envies, and that is why Allah said, “و من شر حاسد إذا حسد – And from the evil of the envier when he envies”.

As for protection from the evil of the envier and the evil eye:

1 – Trust and dependance in Allah, and that a person does not turn to these affairs and give them importance and concern, rather he shuns away from them.

2 – Using the beneficial supplications mentioned in the Qur’an and Sunnah for they are the best of protection for a person, just like what has been authenticated from the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم regarding Ayat ul-Kursee and that the one who recites it at night then there will not cease to be a protector upon him and shaytaan will not approach him until he awakens in the morning.

Regarding this I say this point – The imaginations and misconceptions [whisperings] have increased in people in recent times, so they consider [if anything occurs] it must be evil eye, magic or jinn, to the extent if some of them catch a cold they will say “it is evil eye, magic or jinn”[!]. Turn and shun away from all this [such thoughts] and instead trust and depend in Allah. Do not entertain such whispers so they may depart from you, for indeed whenever a person allows a thought to enter his mind he becomes preoccupied by it, and if only he were to ignore it so it would depart from him and he would not be afflicted by harm. This is like if a person is afflicted by an injury, if he was to ignore it and preoccupy himself with other affairs he would forget the injury and not be focussed on the pain, however if he focuses on it he feels the pain.”

Simple Words For The Sensible One To Reflect Upon Concerning Our Circumstances Today!!!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Raslaan (may Allaah preserve him) said:

The Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) was sent within circumstances concerning which a Muslim cannot say: ”Indeed, the circumstances in which we live in more evil and more deprave in its depravity than (the circumstances in which the Prophet was sent).”   (That is) because the Prophet (salal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) was sent to a disbelieving people and he guided them through one way and one path-to worship one Lord, one God, The Perfect Lord and Master upon Whom all the creation depends and He is self-sufficient, The Unique One in His Names, Attributes and Actions. There is neither another true God (worthy of worship) besides Him nor another true Lord (i.e. the creator, provider and controller of the affairs of the creation) besides Him.

Therefore, the path [of Prophet-salal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam in calling to Allaah in those circumstances] was one, and it path the (way) that the Messengers brought.  The Prophet (salal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) called the Ummatud Dawah (i.e. the nation that had not yet accepted the message of Islaam) to that which is obligatory for today’s Ummatul Ijaabah (i.e. the nation that has already accepted the call of Islaam) to call to.

[2] Benefits From Shaikh Ahmad An-Najmi’s (rahimahullaah) Explanation of Kitaab At-Tawheed

Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ

”And I did not create Jinn and Mankind except that they should worship Me (alone)” [Soorah Dhariyaat: Ayah: 56]

The worlds of the creatures with intellectual discernment are three (in number):

[1] The world of (creatures with intellectual discernment) in which there is only good and no evil, and they are the angels.

[2] The world of (creatures with intellectual discernment) in which there is only evil and no goodness, and they are the devils.

[3] The world of (creatures with intellectual discernment) in which Allaah (gives them the freewill to choose between) good and evil, and there is more goodness amongst them. The other world (in this third category) is that of (those creatures with intellectual discernment) in which Allaah (gives them the freewill to choose between) good and evil and there is more evil amongst them.

The world of Jinn and Mankind are the worlds in which Allaah (allows them and gives them the freewill to choose between) good and evil, and Allaah created them to worship Him (alone).  The devils are a species from the Jinn, but they rebelled and all of them became evil.  And that is why Allaah (The Most High) said: [وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ] ”And I (Allaah) did not create the Jinn and Mankind except to worship Me.”

The devils are a species from the Jinn, and Allaah created Jinn and mankind to worship Him (alone), as He stated in this (above) ayah.  And amongst them (i.e. Jinn and Mankind) are those who fulfil the worship of Allaah (alone) and they are the believers, and amongst them are those who do not fulfil it; rather they wilfully turned away and became arrogant, and they are the various types of disbelievers.

It is sufficient for us to know that Allaah created us to worship Him (alone) and it is obligatory upon us to fulfil the purpose for which Allaah created us.   And worship is obedience alongside humility and lowering oneself in the presence of Allaah [The One, The Irresistible].  And when it is the case that the nations did become overwhelmed with ignorance, apathy and forgetfulness, and busied themselves with the present worldly life and became heedless of the afterlife, Allaah sent Messengers to every nation to clarify the purpose for which they were created and brought into existence.

Allaah (The Most High) said:

[وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِي كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَّسُولًا أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاجْتَنِبُوا الطَّاغُوتَ]

”And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): “Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghut (all false deities, etc. i.e. do not worship Taghut besides Allah).” [Soorah An-Nahl: Ayah: 36]

So Allaah informed (us) that He sent Messengers to the slaves–commanding them to worship Allaah (alone) and to stay away from all false deities.

Fear of the Jinn–Shaikh Rabee

Question:

Does fearing the Jinn enter into natural fear or not?

Answer:

Fearing the jinn; if it is inner fear and if it is believed that the jinn can benefit and harm you, then this enters into shirk: ‘And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief.’ [Surah Al-Jinn Verse 6]

And in the most part/cases fear of the jinn – and Allah knows best – falls into the fear (that is regarded to be) worship; because it is believed that by way of it (jinn) you can be harmed or benefitted, whilst no one has the ability to cause harm or benefit except Allah, neither the jinn nor the people, as the Messenger of Allah sallaallaahu alaihi wa sallam said: “Know that if the nation were to gather together to benefit you with something, they would not benefit with anything except that which Allaah has already recorded for you. If they gather to harm you by something, they would not be able to harm you by anything except what Allaah has already recorded against you.” (Tirmidhee Hasan saheeh)

And the true believer does not fear (anyone or anything) except Allah (The Mighty and Majestic). “So fear them not, but fear me if indeed you are (true) believers” [Aali Imran verse 175]; Meaning the inner fear, the fear (that is regarded to be) worship.  As for fear of a snake, a lion or a corrupt person – meaning he who attacks you and you are not able to resist/fight him, then this is natural fear (and) it does not harm. This does not harm – Inshaa Allah – and it has no effect on the Aqeedah.

However fear of jinn in most cases is a fear established upon corrupted beliefs!  The Messenger sallaallaahu alaihi wa sallam has given you weapons and has taught you; Read ayatul kursi, read Surah al Falaq and Surah an Nas to be protected.  The remembrance of Allah (The Mighty and Majestic) protects you from them. Use the means which will protect you from them and from every type of harm—from snakes, scorpions and from other than them, (reciting):    َعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّة مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.) (Recite three times in the evening.)  If you said this nothing will come to you (of harm), neither a jinn nor a snake nor other than them.  Nothing will harm you (by permission of Allah) and this is (when) it is done with sincerity and truthfulness.  May Allah bless you all.

[1]Benefits from Shaikh Ahmad An-Najmi’s (rahimahullaah) Explanation of Kitaab At-Tawheed

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Indeed Tawheed is the foundation upon which Islaam is founded.  It is its pre-requisite by way of which (one’s Islaam) is acknowledged (in the sight of Allaah) and by way of which good deeds are accepted.  By way of it sins are pardoned and the slave is entered into paradise and saved from the hell fire.  Due to (Tawheed), there occurred the dispute between the Messengers and the polytheists, and the swords of Jihaad were unsheathed.  Due to (Tawheed), the Jinn, mankind, paradise and hell fire were created; and righteous deeds are cancelled through that which nullifies (Tawheed) and that is Shirk.  Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَلَقَدْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ وَإِلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكَ لَئِنْ أَشْرَكْتَ لَيَحْبَطَنَّ عَمَلُكَ وَلَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

بَلِ اللَّهَ فَاعْبُدْ وَكُن مِّنَ الشَّاكِرِينَ

”And indeed it has been revealed to you (O Muhammad ), as it was to those (Allah’s Messengers) before you: “If you join others in worship with Allah, (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers.”  Nay! But worship Allah (Alone and none else), and be among the grateful.’’ [Soorah Az-Zumar: Aayaat 65-66]

All sins can be pardoned except shirk.  Allaah (The Most High) said: إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَاءُ ۚ وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَالًا بَعِيدًا

”Verily! Allah forgives not (the sin of) setting up partners in worship with Him, but He forgives whom he pleases sins other than that, and whoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, has indeed strayed far away.’’ [Soorah An-Nisaa: Ayah: 116]

And due to shirk the slave is prevented from entry into paradise and hell fire is imposed upon him for eternity.  Therefore for this reason giving concern to Tawheed is the most important affair amongst all important affairs and the greatest of all obligations.  Abandoning (Tawheed), turning away from it and from learning it is the greatest calamity.  And due to this it is incumbent upon every slave (of Allaah) to learn (Tawheed) and to learn that which nullifies and negates it, or that which diminishes it and infringes its rights.

The one who does not establish the true reality of Laa-ilaaha ilal Laah–Shaikh Rabee

Question:

Will the one who does not establish the true reality of ‘’laa ilaaha illa Allah” enter paradise or hellfire?

Answer:

It is inevitable that the one who does not establish the conditions of laa ilaaha illa Allah will enter the fire.  If he wasn’t sincere; if he wasn’t truthful; if he did not know its meaning; if he said Laa ilaaha illa Allah and explained it as “there is no creator except Allah (and) ‘’there is no provider except Allah,’’ (then even) if we were to (give) him the excuse of ignorance the least about him is that he is from the misguided sects.

Fataawa fil Aqeedah wal Manhaj – Shaykh Rabee

Translated by Abu Abdir-Razzaaq (Amjad Khan)

A Woman asks Shaikh al-Fawzan about an Angel coming to Wake her Daughter for Fajr Prayer

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Allah سبحانه و تعالى has in His great wisdom created differing creations; from amongst them the Angels, the Jinn, and of course the Humans. Regarding these various creations, an interesting event was narrated to Shaikh al-Fawzaan, the question from the mother of this particular girl was as follows:

“I have an orphan daughter [i.e. her father has passed away, since it is not a condition for the mother to have passed away also for a child to be considered an orphan] and a man comes to her at night and wakes her up for the Fajr prayer and commands her to wake up her brothers and sisters for the prayer. The question therefore is; can we be certain that this individual who comes is an Angel? Do Angels descend to the Earth?”

The Shaikh replied, “Allahu ‘Alam [Allah knows best], or he could be from our brothers the Jinn, its doesn’t necessarily have to be an Angel, maybe from our brothers the Jinn”.
