The Best of Our Women and The Worst of Them!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Abu Udhaynah [may Allaah be pleased with him] reported that Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “The best of your women are the Al-Wadood, Al-Walood (1), the Al-Muwaatiyatu and Al-Muwaasiyatu if they fear Allah. The worst of your women are the Al-Mutabarrijaat and the Mutakhayyilaat, and they are hypocrites. None of them will enter Paradise except as rarely as you see a red-beaked crow”. [Silsilah As-Saheehah. Number 1849]

“The best of your women are the Al-Walood”. Al-Manaawee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Meaning, they bear many children”. “Al-Wadood”, meaning, “Loving (and beloved) to her husbands”. “Al-Muwaatiyatu and Al-Muwaasiyatu”– meaning, “Live in harmony with the husband”. “If they fear Allaah” (1.2)- meaning, “They fear and obey Allaah”.

“The worst of your women are the unveiled”– Meaning, “Those who display their beauty to strange men”. (2) “The Mutakhayyilaat”– meaning, “Amazed with themselves and haughty”. “They are hypocrites”, meaning, “They resemble hypocrites”. “None of them will enter Paradise, except as rarely as you a red-beaked crow”– meaning, “The one that is white-winged or with two white legs. What is intended is that few of them will enter paradise, because this description regarding crows is precious due to its (rarity)”. (3) [At-Tayseer Bi-Sharh Al-Jaami As-Sagheer 1/532]

Footnote 1: Allaah is the one Who decides the number of children one will have. Allaah said:

To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills. He bestows female (offspring) upon whom He wills, and bestows male (offspring) upon whom He wills. Or He bestows both males and females, and He renders barren whom He wills. Verily, He is the All-Knower and is Able to do all things. [Surah Ash-Shurah. Aayaat 49-50]

In summary, whoever dies in a state of Shirk (i.e. Shirk Akbar) will not be forgiven, and Paradise is forbidden for him, amongst the Arabs and non-Arabs, the Jinn and humans. And whoever dies in state of (major) sin lesser than Shirk, then he is under the will of Allaah….

Do Not Be Disheartened When a Marriage Proposal is Declined After You’ve Employed all The Legislated Means

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Jaabir Bin Abdillaah [may Allaah be pleased with him and his father] said, ”Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] used to teach us the way of doing Istikhaarah (i.e. the means to ask Allah to guide one to the right action concerning any job or a deed) in all matters as he taught us the Suras of the Qur’an. He said, ‘If anyone of you wants to do any task [i.e. wants to decide on a matter], he should offer a two rak`ats other than the compulsory ones and say (after the prayer):

O Allaah! I seek Your guidance through Your Knowledge, and I seek Power from Your Might, and I ask for Your great blessings. You are capable and I am not. You know and I do not, and You (alone) know the unseen. O Allah! If You know that this task (or affair) is good for my religion and my subsistence and in my Hereafter- (or said, ‘If it is better for my present and later needs), then You ordain it for me and make it easy for me to get, and then bless me in it. And if You know that this task (affair) is harmful to me in my religion and subsistence and in the Hereafter- (or said, ‘If it is worse for my present and later needs’), then keep it away from me and let me be away from it. And ordain for me whatever is good for me, and make me satisfied with it.’ The Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] added that then the person should mention his (or her) need [i.e. the affair or task]. [Bukhaari: 1162]

After Istikhaarah, one also seeks the advice of upright people, who are able give advice in the affair. Al-Hasan al-Basree [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “By Allaah! Never have a people sought advice except that they were guided to the best of what was available to them.” Then he recited [ And (the Believers) who (conduct) their affairs by mutual consultation]. [Surah Ash-Shurah. Ayah 38]

Al-Allaamah Zayd Bin Haadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: When a difficulty that is related to a Muslim’s religious and worldly affairs occurs, it is befitting that he consults someone whom he considers reliable, wise, truthful and sincere. He examines (the advice) given by that person, then he makes a choice – either to take that advice or decides not to take it based on what he is satisfied with, in relation to his personal affairs. The narration places emphasis on the fact that consultation guides to the best outcomes, and due to this it is said, “The one who consults does not regret (thereafter InShaaAllaah) and the one who performs Istikhaarah will not fail (to achieve what is good for him or her).” Both Istikhaarah and consultation are legislated and a lot of good is achieved by way of them, as opposed to when affairs are pursued in a rigid and haphazard manner, for indeed this might lead to regret and harm. (1)

The One Consulted Must Fear Allaah: Abu Hurairah [may Allaah be pleased with him] said that the Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “The consultee is in a position of trust]. [Saheeh Sunan Abee Dawud. Number 5128]

The consultee is the one whose opinion is sought after regarding an affair of Maslahah [i.e. an affair that will bring about benefit and repel harm]. He is in a position of trust with regards to what he is asked, and it is not permissible for him to deceive the one who consults him by concealing the affair that would bring about benefit. (2)

This hadeeth is evidence, showing that the consultee must (advise) with the course of action and opinion -in relation to the consultation – that which he would do for himself. And it is not permissible that he directs his Muslim brother to something he would not be pleased with for himself. (3)

After you have employed all the legislated means and consulted the best people regarding the affair, then do not be disheartened or disappointed, because only Allaah knows the beginning and end of all affairs – hidden and apparent. Allaah said:

And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.” [AI-Baqarah. Verse 216]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said:

There is for the servant -in this verse – a number of insightful guidelines, underlying benefits and welfare, because indeed if he knows that Al-Makrooh (what is disliked) can bring forth Al-Mahboob (i.e. what is beloved), and vice versa, then neither would he feel safe from the harm that might occur from something that makes him happy nor would he lose hope whilst expecting a final source of happiness from a situation of harm. That is because he does not have (infinite or perfect) knowledge of the Awaaqib (i.e. the final outcomes), but Allaah knows that which he does not know.

The servant should hand over his affair to the One (Allaah) who knows – (perfectly without anything hidden from Him)- the end result of affairs. He should be pleased with what Allaah chooses and decrees for him because of the good end result he hopes for.

Neither should he make suggestions to his Lord nor put forward his choice over that of his Lord, nor does he ask for something about which he has no knowledge, because it maybe that what will bring about harm and destruction on him is found in what he asks, whilst he does not know. Therefore, he does not choose anything over what his Lord chooses; rather he asks his Lord to choose the best for him and make him pleased with what has been chosen for him, because there is nothing more beneficial for him than this.

When he hands over his affair to his Lord and is pleased with what has been chosen for him, his Lord facilitates him with strength, determination and patience in that which has been chosen for him; repel the afflictions he would have encountered due to the choice he makes and show him some of the good end results of the choice his Lord made for him, which could not have been attained through the choice he makes for himself.

If he is pleased with Allaah’s choice, then what has been decreed will come to him, whilst he is deserving of commendation and graceful in it; otherwise, what has been decreed will come to him while he is blameworthy and ungraceful, because he is left with the choice he made for himself. (4)

Finally, let us ponder upon this story that will teach us a lesson regarding the fact that we should always be pleased with Allaah’s decree if the one we desired to marry chooses someone else, because only Allaah knows the end result of affairs. Ibn Abbaas [may Allaah be pleased with him and his father] said, “Barira’s [may Allaah be pleased with her] husband was a slave called Mughith [may Allaah be pleased with him], as if I am seeing him now, going behind Barira and weeping with his tears flowing down his beard. The Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said to `Abbas, “O `Abbas! Are you not astonished at the love of Mughith for Barira and the hatred of Barira for Mughith?” The Prophet then said to Barira, “Why don’t you return to him?” She said, “O Allah’s Messenger! Do you order me to do so?” He said, “No, I only intercede for him.” She said, “I am not in need of him.” (5)

A Practice of The Companions Before Departing From Each Other’s Company

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

“When two men among the Prophet’s companions met, they would not depart from one another, except after one of them recited to the other: [ وَٱلۡعَصۡرِ] – (By Al-‘Asr (the time)], إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ لَفِى خُسۡرٍ ] – Verily! The human is in loss….(i.e. the full Surah)]. Thereafter, one would give Salaam to the other”.

After quoting few other narrations and then graded their authenticity, Imaam Al-Albaanee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: In these narrations is that one gives Salaam when departing (i.e. one gives Salaams to the other when departing after meeting). The other affair we benefit (from this report) is that the companions held onto this deed and that is the recitation of Surah Al-Asr (i.e. before departing after meeting, one recites Surah Al-Asr to the other and then gives Salaam), because we (firmly) believe that they were far removed from initiating – in the religion – a newly invented act of worship as a means of getting close to Allaah by way of it; rather the only reason they did this was due to something established through Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] – either by way of a statement of his, deed or tacit approval. Marrying a Much Younger Woman!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imaam Al-Bukhaaree [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Chapter: To Marry Virgins”. Aa’isha [may Allaah be pleased with her] said, “I said,’O Allaah’s Messenger! Suppose you landed in a valley where there is a tree of which something has been eaten and then you found trees of which nothing has been eaten, of which tree would you let your camel graze?’ He said, ‘I will let my camel graze of the one of which nothing has been eaten before'”. The sub narrator added, “Aisha meant that Allaah’s Messenger had not married a virgin besides herself”. [Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree. Number 5077]

Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allaah haver mercy upon him] stated, “In this is an encouragement to marry a virgin, because she has not been put to any trial by the people and this is more likely to (bring about) harmony between her and her husband, except when the need calls for other than that”. (1)

Imaam Al-Bukhaaree [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Chapter: The Marrying off a Young Lady to An Elderly Man”. Urwa [may Allaah be pleased with him] reported that the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] asked AbuBakr [may Allaah be pleased with him] for Aisha’s hand in marriage. AbuBakr said, “But I am your brother”. The Prophet said, “You are my brother in Allaah’s Religion and His Book, but she (Aisha) is lawful for me to marry”. [Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree. Number 5081]

Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “This shows that brotherhood for Allaah’s Sake and friendship does not prevent (a person from marrying the daughter of his friend). What is forbidden for a brother is to marry (those) relatives forbidden for him”. (2)

Finally, one must be acquainted with Marriage in the UK at present. The age specified for marriage in England and Wales is 18, whether the marriage is registered at a local council or not. Facilitating marriages below this age or doing so abroad could face jail or fines. Therefore, do not engage in anything regarding this affair and thus open a door of great trial for yourself and others.

The Freed Slave Girl, The Precious Stones and The Kite

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy.

Aa’isha [may Allaah be pleased with her] narrated: There was a black slave girl belonging to an Arab tribe and they freed her but she remained with them. The slave girl said, “Once one of their girls (of that tribe) came out wearing a red leather scarf decorated with precious stones. It fell from her or she placed it somewhere. A kite (i.e. a medium to alarge long-winged bird of prey) passed by that place, saw it lying there and mistaking it for a piece of meat, flew away with it. Those people searched for it but they did not find it. So they accused me of stealing it and started searching me and even searched my private parts.” The slave girl further said, “By Allah! While I was standing (in that state) with those people, the same kite passed by them and dropped the red scarf and it fell amongst them. I told them, ‘This is what you accused me of and I was innocent and now this is it.'” Aisha added, ‘That slave girl came to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and submitted in Islam. She had a tent or a small room with a low roof in the Masjid. Whenever she visted me, she had a talk with me and whenever she sat with me, she would recite the following, ‘The day of the scarf (band) was one of the wonders of our Lord, verily He rescued me from the disbelievers’ town’. `Aisha added, ‘Once I asked her, what is the matter with you? Whenever you sit with me, you always recite these poetic verses.’ So she told me the whole story'”. [Saheeh al-Bukhaari. Number 439]

Imaam Ibn Hajr [may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated:

*In the hadith is that it is permissible to stay overnight and sleep in the Masjid for those Muslims – whether a man or woman – who do not have a place to live if that would not lead to trouble.

*The permissibility of placing a covering in the Masjid by way of a tent and the like.

*To leave the land where a person is put to trial in the hope of relocating to a better place for oneself just as what happened to this woman.

*The virtue of migrating from the land of disbelief.

*Allaah’s response to the supplication of an oppressed person even if he (or she) is a disbeliever because the context of this hadeeth shows that she became a Muslim after arriving in Medeenah. Allaah knows best. (1)

Imaam Abdul Azeez bin Baaz [may allaah have mercy upon him] stated:

*This oppressed woman was aided by Allaah, for indeed Allaah aids a person if he (or she) is a disbeliever.

*Exit the Masjid if menses begin in the Masjid or stay out of necessity. (see footnote a)

*There is no harm in erecting a tent for a woman who is in need until a safe place is found.

*There’s no harm in sleeping in the Masjid if that would not lead to harm. (2)

Footnote a: There is a difference of opinion regarding whether a woman on her menses is allowed in the Masjid. The One Who Burns The Qur’aan Out of Hatred and The One Who Protests In The Streets

In The Nasme of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Question to Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allaah have mercy upon him]: What is the recompense for someone who unintentionally burn the Noble Qur’an and did not know until after doing so?

Answer: There is no (blame) on him as long as it is unintentional, such as if he burns it without knowing that it is the Qur’an. Likewise, there is no harm if he deliberately burns it so that it would not be disrespected because it is torn and cannot be benefitted from. That is because when the Qur’aan is torn and cannot be benefitted from (i.e. not possible to read it), it should be burnt or buried in a clean place so that it is not humiliated. As for if one burns it out of hatred, insult and being annoyed with it, then this is a great evil and it is tantamount to apostasy. Likewise, if one sits on it, steps on it with his foot to insult it, stain it with impurity, insults it or insults the one who reads it, then this is major disbelief and apostasy. And Allaah’s refuge is sought! [Majmoo Fataawaa Wa Maqaalaat Ash-Shaikh Ibn Baaz 24/395]

Indeed, nothing praiseworthy is expected from well known spiteful Islam haters except evil and malice. Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Many of the people of the Scripture wish that if they could turn you away as disbelievers after you have believed, out of envy from their ownselves, even, after the truth (that Muhammad Peace be upon him is Allah’s Messenger) has become manifest unto them. But forgive and overlook, till Allah brings His Command. Verily, Allah is Able to do all things. [Surah Al-Baqarah Aayah 109]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

You will most certainly be tested in your material possessions and in yourselves. And you will most certainly hear much abuse from those who were given Scripture before you and from those who associate partners with Allāh. But if you patiently persevere and remain devoutly obedient—that will be a determining factor (which you must hold on to with firm resolve). [Surah Aal Imran. Aayah 186] (1)

Allaah [The Exalted] said: [قَدۡ بَدَتِ ٱلۡبَغۡضَآءُ مِنۡ أَفۡوَٲهِهِمۡ وَمَا تُخۡفِى صُدُورُهُمۡ أَكۡبَرُ‌ۚ – Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, but what their breasts conceal is far worse]. [Surah Aal Imran. Aayah 118]

Therefore, this behaviour of theirs – burning the Qur’aan out of hatred – is expected from those spiteful Swedish disbelievers whose hearts are filled with envy and malice; but this does not mean that – in the name of opposing evil – we respond in a manner that is not legislated by Allaah and His Messenger. Street protests are not legislated in Islam as Al-Allaamah Zayd Bin Haadi Al-Madkhali [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Protests are newly invented matters in the religion, every newly invented matter in the religion is a bidah (innovation in religion), every bidah is misguidance and every misguidance leads to the hell fire. Allaah’s legislation is perfect and complete- founded upon The Qur’aan and The Sunnah – and we do not know of anything by way of the evidences in the Qur’aan and the Sunnah that makes it permissible for a handful of people to gather for demonstrations, which causes disturbance for the people and time wasting. And greater than this is abandonment of the prayers (during protests) and the loss of life [i.e. murder]. If one was to kill a Muslim in a single protest, the one (or those) who called to such protests will carry his sins – be it an individual, a group or those who participate. It has been reported in an authentic hadeeth that “The termination of the world means less to Allah than the killing of a Muslim [i.e. without right]”. [Saheeh Al-Jaami 9208]

These protests are nothing but bidah and acts of misguidance advocated by shaytaan- (enticed) by the urge of the evil soul and desires. And these enemies [i.e. shaytaan, the urge of the evil soul and desires] do not come together in any affair except that the religion and worldly affairs are destroyed, just as it is the case in these demonstrations. The end results of protests is carnage, destruction, wastage of wealth and time, and terrorising those living in peace. And how many disadvantages are there in that?! It is enough to be considered something sinister due to the fact that the Noble Messengers and the Great Prophets who were put to trial and harmed by their people did not hold protests – neither engaged in plotting to cause explosions nor committing suicide; rather Islaam has forbidden all of that. Those who call to protests and hold that there is success in it are mistaken, and they have missed the correct path. Rectification of the affairs can only be by way of the Qur’aan and The Sunnah in accordance with the understanding of those scholars who are firmly grounded in knowledge. So whoever calls the people to this chaos, then indeed he has brought about a means to corrupting the land and the people, and what has occurred – in the past and at present- is a witness to that. Therefore, we warn the students of knowledge that they are not persuaded by the speech of those who allow protests]. They say that peaceful demonstrations are permissible -as they categorise it into this categorisation- without proofs and concrete evidence from the Qur’aan and the Sunnah- neither from the actions of the Messenger and the Noble Sahaabah nor from the Notable Imaams; rather the verdict on protests is only what has been stated earlier and as well as what has been written by other than myself”. Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi [may Allaah preserve him] was asked, “Going out for to demonstrations and revolutions, and nurturing the youth upon it; is this from the methodology of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa’ah or not, whether done within or outside the Muslim countries?” Answer: “This is the methodology of Marx (i.e. Carl Marx), Lenin (i.e. Vladimir Lenin) and those similar to them. It is not from the Islamic methodology. Revolutions, bloodshed, trials and troubles are Marx’s and Lenin’s school of thought”. [Source:An excerpt from كشف الستار Page: 18]

How Important is Current Affairs and Who Interprets Events For You?

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

How Important is Current Affairs and Who Interprets Events For You?

[Guidance From Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen and Al-Allaamah Rabee]

Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Some people say, ‘The one who does not understand the knowledge of current affairs is not a scholar’ and they forget that indeed the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, ‘Whoever Allaah wishes good for, He grants him understanding of the religion’. Then they become heedless of an existing reality, which is that busying oneself with the knowledge of current affairs diverts a person from (seeking) understanding of the religion; rather it may preoccupy (and divert) him from correct worship, and that is to worship Allaah alone, devoting one’s heart to Allaah, pondering upon Allaah’s universal signs [i.e. the things He has created] and Allaah’s divine revelation. In reality, preoccupying the youth with the Knowledge of current affairs prevents them from (seeking) understanding of Allaah’s Religion, because the heart is a vessel and it does not take another thing when it is filled with something else; therefore, it is not possible to fill it with this and that.

Busying oneself with the understanding of the Religion, fulfilling acts of worship and pure Islamic Monotheism and sincerity is better for him [i.e. a person] than looking into the knowledge of current affairs and regarding what such and such person is about. It maybe that one acquires knowledge of current affairs through weak and fabricated narrations via the media, or he bases knowledge of current affairs on the analysis and speculations of a person. The person who is engaged in the subject matter of current affairs may seek to establish an analysis that is far from what the current affairs (shows in reality), or he looks into affairs that have been concocted for him by the enemies (regarding) a particular (expected) event; but then this event happens to be something else and does not exist at all, so all those plans come to nothing. Therefore, what is of important is that one acquires understanding of what Islam requires of a person. The understanding related to ones self (necessitates) rectification of heart by way of sound belief and to wish good for the Muslims, and this is (also) related to understanding of halaal, haraam and other affairs of a similar nature. A person must acquaint himself with knowledge of current affairs if he is in need of it; but as for giving it complete importance in relation to affairs (or events) that have not occurred in reality, such as lies, deception, analysis and speculation, this has no (sound) basis”. (1)

Returning to Those Who Are Truly Able to Analyse And Repel The Plots of The Disbelievers

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Madkhalee [may Allaah preserve him] stated: So it is not permissible for the Ulamaa to remain heedless of their plans (i.e. the enemies of Islaam), their actions, their publications, their missionary activities and their various calls (to the Muslims). And also the various poisons they are infusing – which are in opposition to the Qur’aan and the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) and his Sunnah. And nor of what plans they have for (the destruction of) the beliefs and methodologies of Islaam. It is not permissible either, to remain heedless of their concentrated efforts to Christianize or secularize the Muslim youth. And along with that, the Muslim youth and the students are not able to oppose this plan and strategy. Rather it is necessary that the distinguished Ulamaa – those who are experienced and shrewd – it is for such people, in all the places to undertake this duty. So it is obligatory for some of the intelligent and ingenious people from the field of ‘Aqeedah to be mobilised for opposing these plans. And likewise it is a must that the intelligent and distinguished from amongst the specialists in the Sunnah – that they be mobilised for the refutation of these and similarly the eminent and distinguished from amongst those in the fields of Orientalism for the refutation of the plans of the Orientalists.” (Ahl ul-Hadeeth, p.102) (2)

He also says: “I myself believe that it is a benefit – rather it is of necessity – that we know what the enemies are planning for us, and that it is necessary for us to prepare (ourselves in strength) to destroy their plans. However, I do not exaggerate in this matter, rather my view is the view of our Ulamaa and they have all agreed upon this – that amongst the obligatory matters there are some that are Fard Ain and others that are Fard Kifaayah – and even if knowing the state of the enemies is harmful – it is still necessary for us to know it – but it is treated as Fard Kifaayah. When some attend to it, then the harm is removed from the rest” up until he said: “So I consider that there is no criticism for the Ulamaa and the students of knowledge who take great concern for preserving the Sharee’ah of Allaah – in terms of the Book, the Sunnah and its understanding – for this is one of the duties of the Kifaayah actions. And I believe that these people are more superior, noble, truthful and of more benefit to Islaam than those who are weak in their knowledge of the religion of Allaah or those who have no share in acquainting themselves with it.” (3)

Therefore, just as we do not endorse the exaggerations of the Takfeeris and political activists in the Muslim lands – those who spread propaganda to excite the people, call to protests and regime change, likewise we do not rush to endorse any official or mainstream media narrative West; rather we return to the reliable investigators amongst the senior people of knowledge- those elders who are well known for their sound knowledge in both religious and worldly affairs, known for their fear of Allaah, honesty and adherence to the senior scholars of the Ummah. An example of their work can be found here: permanent_committee

As for mainstream media, their deceptions have been documented and exposed. This book – titled ‘The Fake New Factory’ – gives a good account of their deceptions.

Capital Punishment!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

O you who believe! Al-Qisas (the Law of Equality in punishment) is prescribed for you in case of murder: the free for the free, the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. But if the killer is forgiven by the brother (or the relatives, etc.) of the killed against blood money, then adhering to it with fairness and payment of the blood money, to the heir should be made in fairness. This is an alleviation and a mercy from your Lord. So after this whoever transgresses the limits (i.e. kills the killer after taking the blood money), he shall have a painful torment. And there is (a saving of) life for you in Al-Qisas (the Law of Equality in punishment), O men of understanding, that you may become pious. [Surah Al-Baqarah. Aayaat 178-179]

Ash-Shaybaan [may Allaah have mercy upon him] reported from Qataadah [may Allaah have mercy upon him] who said: Among the people of the pre-Islamic era were those who transgressed and followed shaytaan. If a person had strength and a great number of supporters, and a slave of theirs is murdered by a slave of another people, then out of wanting to show their superior strength, they would say, ‘We shall not kill (by way of revenge) except a free person amongst them’. And if a woman kills another woman from another tribe, they said, ‘We shall not  kill (by way of revenge) except a man amongst them’”. So, Allaah revealed this Aayah.

And regarding the statement: [وَلَكُمۡ فِى ٱلۡقِصَاصِ حَيَوٰةٌ۬ يَـٰٓأُوْلِى ٱلۡأَلۡبَـٰبِ لَعَلَّڪُمۡ تَتَّقُونَ – And there is (a saving of) life for you in Al-Qisas (the Law of Equality in punishment), O men of understanding, that you may become pious], Az-Zujaaj said, “If a man knows that he’ll be killed if he murders someone, he will refrain from murder and thus both his life and that of others are preserved”. (1)

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: He refrains from killing out of loving and giving precedence to his own life, so there is preservation of his life and the life of the one he wants to murder. Also when a man killed another man from another family or tribe, the family or tribe of the victim killed everyone they could find from the family, tribe and city district of the murderer, and in this there was overwhelming corruption and destruction, so Allaah legislated the law of equality in punishment and so that none else is killed except the one who committed murder. This preserved the lives of murderer’s relatives and the people of his city. (2)

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: By way of it [i.e. the law of equity in punishment] life is preserved and the misguided ones who exit the confines of justice are restrained. And when others witness a murderer being executed [i.e. by the government], they will take heed and refrain from the crime of murder. So, if the punishment against a murderer was other than killing him [by way of capital punishment], the evil act of murder would not have been prevented. This is the case regarding all the prescribed punishments of the Sharee’ah, because they contain a means of prevention which shows the perfect Wisdom of The All-Wise , the Oft-Forgiving. And Allaah specifically mentioned life in this Aayah as emphasis and exaltation. And when it is the case that none knows the reality of this ruling except the people of sound intellect and strong understanding, Allaah addressed them specifically. (3)

Shaikh Abdul Waahid Abu Khadeejah [may Allaah preserve him] said: Some Islamic countries such as Saudi Arabia and parts of Nigeria use Sharī’ah Law as the law of the land. These include death penalties for murder and drug trafficking, and amputation and removal of a hand for thieves who steal beyond a certain considerable sum. Even though these punishments exist, they are not used often because the crime rate in many Muslim countries is low. That is for two reasons: 1. The citizens are keen to live their lives in accordance to their Islamic faith, ethics and morals. 2. The threat of these punishments serve as strong deterrent against crimes.  (4)

[1] Clear Proofs of Muhammad’s Prophethood [Introduction]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Indeed, studying the proofs of Prophethood increases the faith of a believer, rather it can be a reason behind entry into Islam by the one whom Allaah wishes good for. As for an atheist and one who willfully opposes the truth, then indeed he does not increase except in blindness even if every sign came to him just as Allaah stated about them:

وَلَوۡ فَتَحۡنَا عَلَيۡہِم بَابً۬ا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَظَلُّواْ فِيهِ يَعۡرُجُونَ
لَقَالُوٓاْ إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتۡ أَبۡصَـٰرُنَا بَلۡ نَحۡنُ قَوۡمٌ۬ مَّسۡحُورُونَ

And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they were to continue ascending thereto, they would surely say: “Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people bewitched.” [Surah Al-Hijr. Aayaat 14-15]
And just as Allaah stated about the one who rejected Musa’s Prophethood:

وَقَالُواْ مَهۡمَا تَأۡتِنَا بِهِۦ مِنۡ ءَايَةٍ۬ لِّتَسۡحَرَنَا بِہَا فَمَا نَحۡنُ لَكَ بِمُؤۡمِنِينَ

They said [to Musa (Moses)]: “Whatever Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) you may bring to us, to work therewith your sorcery on us, we shall never believe in you.” [Surah Al-A’raaf. Aayah 132]

And just as Allaah stated about Quraish:

And they say: “We shall not believe in you (O Muhammad ), until you cause a spring to gush forth from the earth for us; or you have a garden of date-palms and grapes, and cause rivers to gush forth in their midst abundantly; or you cause the heaven to fall upon us in pieces, as you have pretended, or you bring Allah and the angels before (us) face to face; or you have a house of adornable materials (like silver and pure gold, etc.), or you ascend up into the sky, and even then we will put no faith in your ascension until you bring down for us a Book that we would read.” Say (O Muhammad ): “Glorified (and Exalted) be my Lord (Allah) above all that evil they (polytheists) associate with Him! Am I anything but a man, sent as a Messenger?” [Surah Al-Israa. Aayaat 90-93]

And as Allaah said about them:

And they swear their strongest oaths by Allah, that if there came to them a sign, they would surely believe therein. Say: “Signs are but with Allah and what will make you (Muslims) perceive that (even) if it (the sign) came, they will not believe?” And We shall turn their hearts and their eyes away (from guidance), as they refused to believe therein for the first time, and We shall leave them in their trespass to wander blindly. And even if We had sent down unto them angels, and the dead had spoken unto them, and We had gathered together all things before their very eyes, they would not have believed, unless Allah willed, but most of them behave ignorantly. [Surah Al-An’aam. Aayaat 109-111]

Allaah said: [وَلَوۡ نَزَّلۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ كِتَـٰبً۬ا فِى قِرۡطَاسٍ۬ فَلَمَسُوهُ بِأَيۡدِيہِمۡ لَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ إِنۡ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحۡرٌ۬ مُّبِينٌ۬ – And even if We had sent down unto you (O Muhammad ) a Message written on paper so that they could touch it with their hands, the disbelievers would have said: “This is nothing but obvious magic!”] [Surah Al-An’aam. Aayah 7]

The miracles (given to Muhammad) are the greatest proofs regarding the fact that indeed Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah, because indeed Allaah does not aid a liar, as Allaah said:

So I swear by whatsoever you see, and by whatsoever you see not, that this is verily the word of an honoured Messenger [i.e. Jibrael (Gabriel) or Muhammad which he has brought from Allah]. It is not the word of a poet, little is that you believe! Nor is it the word of a soothsayer (or a foreteller), little is that you remember! This is the Revelation sent down from the Lord of the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). And if he (Muhammad ) had forged a false saying concerning Us (Allah), We surely should have seized him by his right hand (or with power and might), and then certainly should have cut off his life artery (Aorta), and none of you could withhold Us from (punishing) him. [Surah Al-Haaqqah. Aayaat 38-47]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Verily, they were about to tempt you away from that which We have revealed (the Qur’an) unto you (O Muhammad ), to fabricate something other than it against Us, and then they would certainly have taken you a friend! And had We not made you stand firm, you would nearly have inclined to them a little. (see footnote a) In that case, We would have made you taste a double portion (of punishment) in this life and a double portion (of punishment) after death. And then you would have found none to help you against Us. [Surah Al-Israa. Aayaat 73-75]

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Or say they: “He has invented a lie against Allah?” If Allah willed, He could have sealed your heart (so that you forget all that you know of the Qur’an). And Allah wipes out falsehood, and establishes the truth (Islam) by His Word (this Qur’an). Verily, He knows well what (the secrets) are in the breasts (of mankind). [Surah Ash-Shooraa. Aayah 24]

And as Allaah [The Exalted] said:

وَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوۡ قَالَ أُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ وَلَمۡ يُوحَ إِلَيۡهِ شَىۡءٌ۬ وَمَن قَالَ سَأُنزِلُ مِثۡلَ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ‌ۗ

And who can be more unjust than he who invents a lie against Allah, or says: “I have received inspiration,” whereas he is not inspired in anything; and who says, “I will reveal the like of what Allah has revealed.” [Surah Al-An’aam. Aayah 93]

This is why those who falsely claimed Prophethood were afflicted with ignominy, such as Musaylimah the liar, Al-Aswad Al-Unsee, and those before them such as Mukhtaar Bin Abee Ubaid Ath-Thaqafee and others than them. (see footnote b)

And to not believe in the miracles of the Prophets is tantamount to an announcement of punishment in this life and the next. Allaah [Glorified and Exalted be He] said:

(Remember) when Al-Hawariun (the disciples) said: “O ‘Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Can your Lord send down to us a table spread (with food) from heaven?” ‘Iesa (Jesus) said: “Fear Allah, if you are indeed believers.” They said: “We wish to eat thereof and to be stronger in Faith, and to know that you have indeed told us the truth and that we ourselves be its witnesses.” ‘Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), said: “O Allah, our Lord! Send us from heaven a table spread (with food) that there may be for us – for the first and the last of us – a festival and a sign from You; and provide us sustenance, for You are the Best of sustainers.” Allah said: “I am going to send it down unto you, but if any of you after that disbelieves, then I will punish him with a torment such as I have not inflicted on anyone among (all) the ‘Alamin (mankind and jinns).” [Surah Al-Maa’idah. Aayaat 112-115]

The signs of Prophethood are the greatest proofs regarding the truthfulness of our Prophet Muhammad together with what Allaah blessed him of good character. [An Excerpt from ‘As-Saheeh Al-Musnad Min Dalaa’il An-Nubuwwah’. Slightly paraphrased. pages 6-8. By Al-Allaamah Muqbil Bin Haadee (may Allaah have mercy upon him)]

Footnote a: [ وَلَوْلَا أَن ثَبَّتْنَاكَ لَقَدْ كِدتَّ تَرْكَنُ إِلَيْهِمْ شَيْئًا قَلِيلًا – And had We not made you stand firm; you would nearly have inclined to them a little. [Surah Al-Israa, Ayah 74]

Imaam Ash-Shanqeeti [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: This noble Ayah makes explicitly clear the Messenger’s innocence from inclining towards the disbelievers a little let alone inclining towards them. That is because [لَوْلاَ (i.e. And had it not )] necessitates negation of the occurrence of something, so the phrase ‘you would have nearly inclined’ is negated by [لَوْلاَ ] due to Allaah’s bestowal of firmness to the noblest person amongst His creation [i.e. Muhammad]. So it is established with certainty that he never inclined towards them the least let alone inclining towards them.[An Excerpt from ‘Adwaa Al-Bayaan. slightly paraphrased]

Footnote b: Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khalee [may Allaah preserve him] said: Amongst the different types of liars are the Dajaajilah [i.e. those whose lies are accompanied with deception, beatification of the lies and tricks to convince the people], whom the Prophet [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] spoke about, and reality testifies to the truthfulness of that which this noble Messenger stated, because he never speaks out of his own desire. He [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said: “The hour will not be established until two big groups fight each other whereupon there will be a great number of casualties on both sides and they will be following one and the same religious doctrine, and until about thirty Dajjaals and liars appear, and each one of them will claim that he is Allaah’s Messenger, and until sound religious knowledge is taken away [i.e. due to death of rightly guided scholars], earthquakes will increase in number and time will pass quickly”. [Saheeh Al-Bukhaari] The testimony in this hadeeth is the statement of the Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam], “Until about thirty Dajjaals and liars appear, and each one of them will claim that he is Allaah’s Messenger”. The Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] said, “During the close approach of the hour there will be liars, so beware of them”.

Unfortunately, many people do not take this Prophetic advice in order to be cautious of the liars. There is a long hadeeth narrated by Thawbaan [radiyallaahu-anhu] from Allaah’s Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam], who said, “What I fear for you the most is the leaders of misguidance” until he said, “Indeed, there will be thirty liars in my Ummah and each of them will claim that he is a Prophet, but I am the seal of the Prophets and there no Prophet after me”.

The greatest trial will be that of the greatest Dajjaaj whom all the Prophets warned against, and the one who warned against him the most was our Prophet [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam]. The narrations regarding this are Mutawaatir and its affair is well-known amongst the Muslim, but despite this Allaah’s Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] stated that there is one more dangerous for the Ummah than Dajjaaj. Sam’aan [radiyallaahu-anhu] said, “Allaah’s Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] mentioned Dajjal, one morning, as something despised but also alarming, until we thought that he was in the stand of date-palm trees. When we came to Allaah’s Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] in the evening, he saw that (fear) in us, and said, ‘What is the matter with you?’ We said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah! You mentioned Dajjaal this morning, and you spoke of him as something despised but also alarming, until we thought that he was in the stand of date-palm trees’. He said, ‘There are things that I fear more for you than the Dajjaal. If he appears while I am among you, I will contend with him on your behalf, and if he appears when I am not among you, then each man must fend for himself, and Allaah will take care of every Muslim on my behalf’”. [Saheeh Muslim 2933]

Amongst these Dajjaals – liars – whom Allaah’s Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] warned against was Musaylimah the Liar at Yamaamah and Al-Aswad Al-Unsee who claimed prophethood, and as a result many Arabs exited Islaam; so Allaah destroyed them and others were destroyed, and their trial was ended by way of the swords of the companions of Allaah’s Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam].

And amongst the liars who claimed prophethood was Mukhtaar Bin Abee Ubayd Ath-Thaqafee, the liar about whom the Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] stated, “A liar will appear from Thaqeef a blood shedder”. [Saheeh Muslim 2545] The liar was Al-Mukhtaar and the blood shedder was al-Hajjaaj.

And from those who claimed prophethood was Al-Haarith the liar, and Ghulaam Ahmad Al-Qadiyaanee Al-Hindee who had followers dispersed in the world and they claim that Prophethood is still ongoing. Every liar has other wicked liars connected to him – those similar to their Shaikh.
