Some things the Qur’an constantly highlights for us to consider

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah, The Exalted, said:

وَإِنَّهُ لَتَذۡكِرَةٌ۬ لِّلۡمُتَّقِينَ

And verily, this Qur’an is a Reminder for the people who fear Allaah. [Al-Haaqqah. 48]

The Qur’an is a reminder for the people who fear Allah. The person who fears Allah is reminded through the Qur’aan, then enabled to see what is beneficial and harmful to him, thus, he pursues what is beneficial and avoids what is harmful.

The Qur’an reminds him of the Perfect Names, Attributes and Actions of his Lord, so he believes in them.

The Qur’an reminds him of Allah’s reward, punishment, threats, commands and prohibitions, and the amazing events through which Allah’s allies (were supported) and His enemies (destroyed).

The Qur’an reminds the pious person about his soul, the means to its purification, cleanliness and elevation, and what would defile, lower and disgrace it. He remembers, through the Qur’an, the knowledge related to the beginning of creation, the Hereafter, paradise and hell fire, and the knowledge about good and evil.

The Qur’an is a reminder about reality, a proof for humankind and Jinn, a benefit and source of good welfare (in all affairs of their life) and a guidance for those who seek knowledge. [1]

Allah, The Most High, said: [وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ مَا هُوَ شِفَآءٌ۬ وَرَحۡمَةٌ۬ لِّلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ‌ۙ – And We send down from the Qur’an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism and act on it)]. [Al-Israa. 82]

There are three statements (of the scholars) regarding the Qur’an being a healing: It is a healing for misguidance due to what it contains of guidance. It is healing for illnesses due to what it contains of blessings. It is healing due to its explanation and clarification of the obligatory duties and rulings of the religion. [2]

The Qur’an is a healing for the diseases of ignorance, doubt and scepticism. Allah has never revealed a cure that is neither more comprehensive and beneficial; nor greater and quicker in removing diseases than the Qur’an. [3]

The healing that the Qur’an contains deals with all (diseases) of the hearts, such the disease of Shubhah (a matter that is made to resemble truth but is falsehood in reality), ignorance, corrupt views, perversion and evil goals. This is because is founded on the Knowledge that is based on absolute certainty through which every ambiguity and ignorance is removed, and it contains an admonition and a reminder through which every desire that is in opposition to the command of Allaah is removed. It is a healing for the bodies against harmful things and illnesses. As for it being a mercy, it is due to the Asbaab [i.e. sound means] and Wasaa’il [i.e. paths] it guides to, which if the servant of Allah acts upon them, they will be successfully (receive) Mercy and an everlasting happiness- reward in this worldly life and everlasting reward in the Hereafter. [4]

The Qur’an combines between healing for the diseases of the heart, such as doubt, hypocrisy and other than that. It is a healing for the bodies when utilised for Ruqya, such as what took place in the story of the man who performed ruqya with Surah Al-Fatihah on a man who was stung and it is an authentic and well known story. [5]

Attention Given To The Qur’an By The Pious Predecessors

Abu Salamah, may Allah be pleased with him, said: Whenever Abu Musa, may Allah be pleased with him, sat with Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, he may say to him, “O Abu Musa! Remind”. So he recited. [6]

Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud, may Allah be pleased with him, said: Whoever is able to learn something from the Qur’an, let him do so. Indeed, the houses that are deprived of good the most are the ones where there is no recitation of Allah’s Book. This is because the houses where there is no recitation is like the demolished houses that have no inhabitants. Indeed shaytaan exits a house in which Surah Al Baqarah is heard. [7]

He also said: The hearts are receptacles so busy filling them with the Qur’aan and do not busy them with other than it. [8]

Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him and his father, said: It would be more beloved to me to recite Surah Al-Baqarah during the night than recite the Qur’an haphazardly. [9]

Ubayd Bin Ja’d, may Allah have mercy upon him, reported from a man from who said, “I heard the people in the towns saying that Salman Al-Farisi, may Allah be pleased with him, is in the Masjid, so they approached him until about a thousand people gathered. He stood up and said, “Sit down, sit down”. When they sat down, he started reciting Surah Yusuf, then the people began moving away and departing until about a hundred were left. He became angry and said, “So you wanted adorned speech, but then I recited to you the book of Allah and you left!” [10]

Masruq, may Allah have mery upon him, said: A man from the people of Makkah said to me, “This is the place where your brother Tameem Ad-Daaree, may Allah be pleased with him, used to stand. Indeed, one night I saw him until in the morning or nearly morning time, while he was crying and reciting: [أَمۡ حَسِبَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَعۡمَلُونَ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ أَن يَسۡبِقُونَا‌ۚ سَآءَ مَا يَحۡكُمُونَ – Or does those who do evil deeds think that they can outstrip Us (i.e. escape Our Punishment)? Evil is that which they judge! [Surah Al-Ankabut. Verse 4]” [11]

Muqatil Bin Hayyan, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: I once prayed behind Umar Bin Abdil Azeez, may Allah have mercy upon him; he read [وَقِفُوهُمۡ‌ۖ إِنَّہُم مَّسۡـُٔولُونَ- But stop them (i.e. when the wrong doers will be held to account on the day of judgement), verily they are to be questioned] [As-Saffaat. 24]. He kept on repeating it and was not able to go past it (i.e. due to the severity of what the verse meant). [12]

Maymun Bin Mihran, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: Once Umar Bin Abdul Azeez, may Allah have mercy upon him, cried after reciting the verse [أَلۡهَٮٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ-The mutual rivalry for piling up of worldly things diverts you]. Then he recited [حَتَّىٰ زُرۡتُمُ ٱلۡمَقَابِرَ – until you visit the graves (i.e. till you die)]. Then he said, “I will not see the graves except as a visitor and the one who visits them must either be returned to paradise or hell”. [13]

Aamir Bin Abdil Qays, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: I don’t care what escapes me from the worldly things after knowing this verse:

وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ۬ فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ رِزۡقُهَا وَيَعۡلَمُ مُسۡتَقَرَّهَا وَمُسۡتَوۡدَعَهَا‌ۚ كُلٌّ۬ فِى ڪِتَـٰبٍ۬ مُّبِينٍ۬

And no (moving) living creature is there on earth but its provision is due from Allah. And He knows its dwelling place and its deposit (in the uterous, grave, etc.). all is in a Clear Book (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz – the Book of Decrees with Allah). [Hud. 6]

And Allah’s statement: [مَّا يَفۡتَحِ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ مِن رَّحۡمَةٍ۬ فَلَا مُمۡسِكَ لَهَاۖ وَمَا يُمۡسِكۡ فَلَا مُرۡسِلَ لَهُ ۥ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۚ – Whatever of mercy (i.e. of good), Allah may grant to mankind, none can withhold it, and whatever He may withhold, none can grant it thereafter]. [Fatir. 2] [14]

Malik Bin Deenaar, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: When the Qur’an is recited to the truthful people, their hearts become enraptured by the Hereafter. [15]

Ibn Wahb, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: It was said to the sister of Malik Bin Deenaar, “What did Malik use to busy himself with in the house?” She replied, “With the Mushaf and recitation”. [16]

Imam Fudayl Ibn Iyaad, may Allah have mercy upon him, once cried after reading Allah’s statement: [أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَل لَّهُ ۥ عَيۡنَيۡنِ-Have We not made for him (i.e. the human) a pair of eyes?][ وَلِسَانً۬ا وَشَفَتَيۡنِ -And a tongue and a pair of lips?]. He was asked why he cried, he said, “Have you spent a night really thanking Allah (for giving) you  two eyes through which you can see and a tongue through which you speak?”  [17]

Satirizing the suffering of others – A brief dialogue with the Jerusalem Post.

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah said: [وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَن تَذْبَحُوا بَقَرَةً – And (remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his people: “Verily, Allah commands you that you slaughter a cow]. [قَالُوا أَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوًا – They said: Do you make fun of us?]

He said: I take Allah’s Refuge from being among Al-Jahilun (the ignorant ones or the foolish)].

This is because the ignorant individual is one who engages in speech devoid of benefit and mocks others. In contrast, the sensible person recognises that one of the greatest flaws, both in terms of religion and intellect, is to ridicule another human being. Even if they may be favoured (with something) over him (i,.e. the one being mocked), such favour should inspire gratitude towards the Creator and compassion towards fellow beings. Thus when Musa, peace and blessings of Allah be upon hi, said to them:

[أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ – I take Allah’s Refuge from being among the ignorant ones and the foolish ], they knew that (what he commanded them) was truth, thus, they said: [ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّن لَّنَا مَا هِيَ -call upon your Lord for us that He may make plain to us what it is!]. [Tafsir As-Sadi. Al-Baqarah 67-68]

Excerpts from Jerusalem Post

In the aforementioned article from the Jerusalem Post, it is articulated that certain anti-Zionists engage in mockery directed at Jews. Should the assertions made be verified and confirmed without resorting to exaggeration or sensationalism, and provided that the claims of antisemitism are grounded in fact rather than unfounded allegations, it follows that, once the evidence is laid bare and the statements of those accused are accurately represented, there can be no doubt that such derision must be unequivocally condemned. The perpetrators must be informed that their actions are intolerable, and any individual possessing a modicum of decency should unequivocally distance themselves from such behavior, irrespective of any perceived advantages associated with the agenda of the mockers. Nonetheless, it is imperative to ensure that they are indeed culpable of such reprehensible conduct.

Jerusalem Post also quoted the accused who said:

It is essential to remind the Jerusalem Post that it is truly disheartening to witness individuals who find a twisted pleasure in mocking others, especially considering the recent atrocities perpetrated by Zionists in Gaza. This behavior stems from a profound ignorance and a deep-seated insecurity. Those who partake in such malevolence exhibit a lack of maturity and an inability to resolve conflicts within the framework of divine principles. Over the past year, as the world has borne witness to the harrowing genocide in Gaza, certain pro-Zionist factions have callously mocked the immense suffering endured by the Palestinians, who were besieged and deprived of essential resources such as water, electricity, and adequate food supplies. As the brutality escalated, some of these individuals resorted to a particularly vile form of mockery on social media, utilizing a song from a 2005 comedy to trivialize the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza. Disturbingly, some Zionist soldiers even appeared on camera, donning face paint and traditional Palestinian attire in a grotesque attempt to deride the Gazan populace. Others joined in this disgraceful display, sharing images of devastation with laughter, and some even involved their innocent children in this abhorrent act, dressing them in headscarves and encouraging them to dance mockingly. This behaviour is an inheritance from the disbelievers of old. Allah said:

Beautified is the life of this world for those who disbelieve, and they mock at those who believe. But those who obey Allah’s Orders and keep away from what He has forbidden, will be above them on the Day of Resurrection. And Allah gives (of His Bounty, Blessings, Favours, Honours, etc. on the Day of Resurrection) to whom He wills without limit. [Al-Baqarah 121]

We emphasise once again that the anti-Zionist Jew mentioned by the Jerusalem Post is not to be considered guilty without clear evidence. If proven otherwise, an apology would be necessary. On the other hand, the actions of certain pro-Zionist groups on social media, which involve mocking the suffering of Palestinians, are undeniably evident. We have decided to refrain from including those videos in this post out of respect for the Palestinians who were being ridiculed. May Allah relieve their suffering and reward them immensely for their patience Amin. Finally, we strongly denounce anyone who inflicts harm on non-combatants, as clearly expressed by Prince Turki Al-Faisal, may Allah preserve him, in this video.

Enough promises – Dialogue with Richard and Arsen at Jerusalem Post

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah said:

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do. [Al-Ma’idah 8]

Allah said:

O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah; even though it be against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, be he rich or poor, Allah is a Better Protector to both (than you). So follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you may avoid justice, and if you distort your witness or refuse to give it, verily, Allah is Ever Well-Acquainted with what you do. [Surah An-Nisaa. Ayah 135]

In the above article, Richard Marceau and Arsen Ostrovsky emphasize the urgent need for decisive and effective measures to combat antisemitism, rather than simply offering words of support and condemnation. We wholeheartedly share their strong belief that all forms of racism must be vigorously opposed and eliminated from every aspect of society. No individual or group should face injustice, whether they are Muslims, Christians, Jews, or belong to any other community. It is also crucial to remember that no one should be held accountable for the actions of an individual or a group within their race or religious affiliation. Allah said:

That no bearer will bear the burden (of the crime and sin) of another. And that there shall not be for man except what he strives for (with his own deeds, good or bad). And that his striving will soon be seen (on the scales of his deeds on the Day of Judgement). Then he will be recompensed with the fullest and most complete of recompense. [1]

We want to emphasise to both Richard and Arsen that whenever antisemitism is clearly identified without any misinformation or exaggeration, it must not only be condemned but also eliminated. This principle applies equally to all forms of injustice and racist behaviour. In this article, we will address their statements and reiterate that criminal acts, regardless of who commits them, must be eradicated.

They stated: Today, pro-forma condemnations of antisemitism, while welcome, are entirely meaningless in the absence of urgent and tangible action. [end of quote]

Response: Antisemitism must be decisively eliminated through concrete measures, just as the enduring brutality, theft, and hubris associated with Zionism, which has persisted for more than seven decades, must also be eliminated.

They stated: In a few days time, on January 27, we will mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day and 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz. [end of quote]

Response: The documentation of any acts of murder against Jews or any other group throughout history is a grave crime in the Sight of Allah. This includes the ongoing brutality that has persisted in Palestine for over 70 years, which we have witnessed just in the past year.

They stated:  However, the Holocaust did not begin with the crematoriums of this singular place of evil. That is where the road of life for Jews ended. Rather, it began with words, unbridled hate, and the singling out and dehumanization of an entire group of people. [end of quote]

Response: We understand the deep pain caused by the horrific actions of the Nazis, and we acknowledge the suffering that has resulted from those crimes. However, it is also important to reflect on the events we have seen over the past year, where the actions taken by the Zionist army, led by Netanyahu, in the name of retaliation and self-defense against the Palestinians, have roots that extend beyond the atrocities of the past. These actions can be traced back to unjust claims, a sense of entitlement, and the dehumanization of an entire people by certain factions within Zionism. [Footnote a]

Some Instances of Historical Zionist Brutality Towards Palestinians

The Deir Yassin Massacre: Took place on April 9, 1948, near Jerusalem, during which between 107 to 254 Palestinians were massacred at the hands of the extremist “Stern” gang.

The Nasr al-Din Massacre: Took place in April 1948. Al-Lajjun Massacre: Took place on April 13, 1948, in a Palestinian Arab village in the Jenin District, where the Zionist Haganah gang attacked it and killed 13 people.

The Saliha Massacre: Took place in May 1948, during which 75 Palestinians were massacred.

The Abu Shusha Massacre: Took place on May 14, 1948, near the village of Deir Yassin, and claimed the lives of (50) citizens, including women, men, children, and the elderly.

The Beit Daras Massacre: Took place in northeastern Gaza on May 21, 1948.

The Tantura Massacre: Took place on May 22, 1948, in the occupied city of Haifa, and claimed the lives of about (200) Palestinians.

The Lydda Massacre: Took place on July 12, 1948, in the occupied city of Lydda, and resulted in the massacre of about (500) Palestinians, including (150) who were massacred inside the city’s Grand Mosque. The Zionists threw many of them alive into the town’s wells.

The Dawayima Massacre: Took place on October 29, 1948, when a battalion from the terrorist “Lehi” organization led by Moshe Dayan attacked the village and then began searching homes and shooting at its residents. Entire families were exterminated in the massacre, which resulted in the killing of 200 men, women, and children.

The Zionist massacres did not stop after the Nakba of 1948, but rather their frequency, intensity, and brutality increased in light of the use of more lethal and destructive weapons. Among the most prominent of these massacres were: The Sharafat Massacre, which took place in February 1951, in which 11 Palestinians were massacred, and the rest of the village’s people were displaced. The Bethlehem Massacre took place in January 1952, in which 10 Palestinians were massacred. The Qibya Massacre took place on October 14, 1953, in the village of Qibya, east of Jerusalem, during which (67) Palestinians were massacred, most of whom were women and children, and during which 56 homes were destroyed. The Qalqilya Massacre took place on October 10, 1956, when the occupation forces attacked citizens in the city of Qalqilya in the West Bank, during which about seventy citizens were massacred.

The Kafr Qasem Massacre took place on October 29, 1956, in which 49 Palestinians were massacred, including 11 children, when they were all returning home from work. The Khan Yunis Massacre took place on November 3 and 12, 1956, in which between 280 and 500 Palestinians were massacred.

In 1970, Zionist aircraft struck Bahr al-Baqar Primary School and Abu Zaabal factories, killing more than 150 Egyptian students and workers. In 1980, the extremist Jewish organization Kach attempted to blow up Al-Aqsa Mosque, and a shipment of explosives weighing 120 kg was discovered. The Sabra and Shatila massacre took place in September 1982. This massacre lasted three days, and its direct perpetrators were members of the Lebanese Phalange forces allied with the Zionists led by Ariel Sharon. The Ibrahimi Mosque Massacre took place on February 25, 1994, when a Zionist named “Barog Goldstein” stormed the Ibrahimi Mosque in the city of Hebron, and fired bullets and bombs at the worshipers. This massacre resulted in the massacre of 29 Palestinians. The Qana Massacre took place on April 18, 1995. [2]

They stated: Eighty years after we collectively said ‘Never Again,’ here we are – yet again – with antisemitism and Jew-hatred surging unabated in Canada and Australia, and cannot help but ask, what lessons – if any – have been learned from history? [end of quote]

Response: More than seventy years have passed since the Ummah of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, have been calling for an end to murder and injustice. Despite these persistent voices, which include many non-Muslims, there has been little impact on the actions of Zionists. While it is crucial to eliminate antisemitism in every nation, we continue to witness the ongoing brutality from Zionists since 1948. This leads us to question what, if anything, has been learned from the suffering of the Palestinians, especially as we observe similar excesses being committed by Zionists in the past year.

They stated: Both countries, once seen as beacons of tolerance and oases of peace for Jews, have become unrecognizable today, with almost daily reports of Jewish schools targeted with gunfire, Synagogues firebombed, and Jewish-owned businesses vandalized, while our students are hounded on campuses, widespread violent attacks in the streets, and Jews being increasingly ostracized and excluded from public spaces.

To say the statistics are alarming would be an understatement. It has been nothing short of an unrestrained tsunami of Jew hatred. [end of quote]

Response: Antisemitism needs to be swiftly eliminated as soon as its signs and consequences become evident, without any exaggeration. Every instance of such attacks should be confronted with unwavering resolve and strength. However, when we consider these incidents in relation to the widespread death and devastation in Gaza, they appear as insignificant as a single white hair on a completely black bull or stallion. Thus, it is imperative that we address both issues: the scourge of antisemitism in any place and the relentless brutality of Zionism. To assert that the brutality exhibited by Zionists over the last 70 years is alarming barely scratches the surface. It has manifested as a megatsunami of Zionist arrogance, entitlement, and brutality.

They stated: In Canada, antisemitic incidents have surged by 670% in the past year, while in Australia, likewise, there has been a 700% increase since the Hamas-led October 7 massacre, with the Jewish community in both countries feeling relentlessly under siege. Even more troubling is that many of these incidents go unreported.

Leading Jewish communal organizations, including ours, have been unwavering, fighting back, advocating to all levels of government to face this scourge. Regrettably, the governments have failed to heed these repeated warnings. [end of quote]

Response: If these numbers hold true and aren’t inflated, it’s clear that an immediate emergency response and protection are essential. Should these attacks against Jews in Europe and elsewhere stem directly or indirectly from the atrocities committed by Hamas against innocent civilians and non-combatants, then the offenders have only made the situation worse. Just as Hamas faces condemnation for their actions on October 7th, so too should Netanyahu’s Zionist associates be held accountable for their war crimes.

We would like to emphasise, once again, the strong insights shared by Prince Turki al-Faisal, may Allah safeguard him, which can be found in the following link:

They stated: Today, pro-forma condemnations of antisemitism, promises of action, and reiteration that this new strain of the world’s older hatred does not represent the values of both countries, whilst welcome is entirely meaningless in the absence of urgent and tangible action. [end of quote]

Response: We wholeheartedly concur with this assertion. When instances of antisemitism are unmistakably recognized and decisive measures are not implemented, we must also hold accountable those who neglect to act firmly against any form of racial hatred. This issue transcends the values of individual nations; antisemitism is a profound wrongdoing and a serious offense in the Sight of Allah, just as the Zionist oppression over the past seven decades is a grave sin and crime in His sight. Zionist violence in recent times has escalated to a point that can be described as genocide, overshadowing the brutal massacres of earlier periods.

They stated: What should be done

A much more aggressive legal approach also needs to be added.

In Canada, lawsuits targeted Toronto Metropolitan University and unions, while court injunctions were sought and obtained to protect synagogues, Jewish schools, and Jewish community centers. In Australia, legal proceedings have also been initiated against the University of Sydney, under racial vilification laws, paving the way for the first broad class action lawsuit tackling post-October 7 campus antisemitism, with new laws also introduced against doxing, the display of neo-Nazi material and ensuring that glorifying and praising acts of terrorism are criminal offenses under Commonwealth law. [end of quote]

Response: It is crucial to ensure that all institutions are safeguarded against acts of vandalism and antisemitism, regardless of whether these acts occurred before or after October 7. There is no room in our society for Nazis or terrorism. At the same time, the ongoing violence and oppression faced by Palestinians at the hands of Zionist forces deserve a more urgent attention and action, as this has been a reality for over 70 years. The roots of the Zionist movement stretch back centuries, [Footnote b] leading to the continued subjugation and dehumanization of the Palestinian people. Just as those who celebrate acts of terrorism against Jews or any other group must be held accountable, so too should Netanyahu and his associates face justice for their actions and rhetoric in Gaza over the past year, which are as evident as the midday sun.

https://abuiyaad.com/a/slaughtering-children-holy-war/print
https://www.abuiyaad.com/a/pharoah-slaughtering-babies

They stated: There must also be a recognition that chanting phrases like “Globalize the Intifada” or “Free Palestine” are not calls for peace, and do not depend on ‘intent’ or ‘context’, but are a clear and unmistakable incitement to violence, directly targeting Jews. This should be codified into law.

Moreover, we should consider whether non-citizens who commit acts of antisemitism and terror should be deported. There can be zero tolerance or place for such hatred in our democratic societies. [end of quote]

Response: It is essential to acknowledge that statements like “You must remember what Amalek has done to you,” made by Netanyahu in his calls for retaliation and self-defense, or the assertion that Zionists possess an inherent right to Palestine, along with the expansion of settlements on Palestinian territory, do not promote justice or peace. [Footnote c] Instead, they reflect a troubling sense of impunity, bolstered by support from Christian Zionist leaders and demagogues. Such rhetoric not only incites further oppression but also serves as a dangerous blueprint for targeting those who courageously oppose Zionist actions aimed at perpetuating this unjust situation. It is imperative that nations with courageous leaders codify laws that reject Zionist oppression. Additionally, these countries should evaluate the situation of Jews whose ancestry is not linked to Palestine, particularly when they engage in acts of terrorism against Palestinians and demand that they are deported back to their countries of origi. There must be a firm stance against such criminal behavior and the impunity that often accompanies it.

They stated: Political leaders must also understand that when they effectively throw Israel under the bus in the international legal arena, such as the United Nations and the international courts in The Hague, for their own domestic expedience, this leads to a more pervasive discourse on Israel and a direct correlation in the surge of antisemitism, as does repeatedly singling out the State of Israel for opprobrium, lecturing and differential treatment at home. This only emboldens perpetrators of antisemitism with a warped sense of justification to carry out their attacks against Jews and Jewish institutions.

The sad truth is that once great democracies, Australia and Canada, have failed to protect their Jewish communities. [end of quote]

Response: Zionists must recognise that their relentless efforts to label every individual or organisation as antisemitic for firmly demanding an end to over seventy years of oppression and land theft against the Palestinians only serve to undermine the high moral ground they claim. By establishing lobbies within European parliaments and governments, they seek to obstruct the quest for justice and decency. This approach distorts the narrative surrounding the prolonged suffering inflicted by Zionist actions and correlates directly with the ongoing violence, land theft, and an inflated sense of entitlement. Furthermore, the tendency to accuse others of antisemitism when confronted with calls for ethical conduct only strengthens the resolve of Zionists to perpetuate their oppression. We unequivocally denounce antisemitism when clearly identified, [Footnote d] just as we denounce the unchecked impunity that has characterized over seventy years of Zionist actions. It is imperative that every nation upholds its duty to safeguard its citizens from the scourge of racial hatred and the desecration of their properties. In the same vein, it is equally essential for nations to unequivocally condemn the actions of Zionists and to urgently call for an end to the enduring brutality that has persisted for over seven decades.

They stated: Unremitting campaign of terror

Today, whereas the world’s only Jewish state has been forced to defend itself from Hamas and existential wars being waged by Iran and their terror proxies, another unremitting campaign of terror has been unleashed upon the Jewish communities of Canada and Australia.

Many Jews are increasingly asking if they are still welcome in the countries they have called home for generations, or if they have been abandoned by the political leadership and society at large.

Britain’s former Chief Rabbi, Lord Jonathan Sacks, once noted that a society that has no space for Jews has no space for humanity. As we look ahead to 2025, and on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz death camp, both Australia and Canada must therefore ask if they still have space for Jews and what kind of societies they wish to have. [end of quote]

Response: The subtitle “An unending campaign of violence and intimidation by Zionists over the past seven decades” serves as a response to the preceding subtitle “Unremitting campaign of terror”. Currently, the Zionist regime stands as the sole regime compelled to confront its over 70 years of transgressions and to halt its prolonged pattern of severe aggression against a population whose welfare has been profoundly jeopardised. This situation has been exacerbated by the continuous use of justifications that further diminish their aspirations for safety and dignity. In this context, a new wave of violence and intimidation has been directed at the Palestinian people, framed as acts of self-defense and retaliation. Regarding Hamas, while the actions taken against unarmed civilians and non-combatants on October 7 are indefensible, [Footnote e] it is important to recognise that they also serve as a strategic instrument for the Israeli right. [Footnote f] Furthermore, both Hamas and Zionist actions have faced condemnation, a sentiment eloquently expressed by Prince Turki al-Faisal, may Allah protect him.

The remarks made by this Rabbi prompt a profound reflection on the nature of humanity within a regime that has persistently engaged in the theft of property and the brutalisation and dehumanisation of another people. Such a regime, devoid of compassion, cannot claim to embody the essence of humanity. Just as it is imperative to safeguard the rights of all citizens in a country, including Jews, so too must we extend that protection to the Palestinians, who have endured over seven decades of relentless Zionist oppression. The Palestinians continue to yearn for liberation from this merciless regime, much like the liberation that Jews experienced from the Nazis. It is incumbent upon all nations to advocate for the freedom of the Palestinians from Zionist control, and it is essential for societies to reflect on whether they will persist in demanding an end to this brutality, and to consider the kind of generation they aspire to nurture.

The primary objective of this brief article is not to contest any group’s right to exist within humanity, nor to endorse the oppression of any individual. Rather, it aims to reveal an alternative perspective to that which the two authors sought to convey. While their concerns regarding antisemitism are valid, as is the concern for all forms of racism, the quest for justice must encompass all individuals, irrespective of their status as victim or oppressor. Additionally, the resolution for the Palestinian people, after divine intervention, rests with the upright Muslim scholars and the leaders of Muslim nations. Consequently, this response to the authors does not propose solutions but rather highlights their failure to adequately address the injustices faced by Palestinians. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said that Allah said: “O My servants! I have forbidden injustice for Myself and I have forbidden it among you, so do not oppress one another”. Reflection whenever Iblees emboldens the Bid’ee (Haqiqatjou)

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Reflection whenever Iblees emboldens the Bid’ee Haqiqatjou to utter falsehood against Ahlus Sunnah or mocks them, or praises misguidance and its proponents among the Rafidah and others

Allah, The Most High, says:

لَا تَحْسَبَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَفْرَحُونَ بِمَآ أَتَوا۟ وَّيُحِبُّونَ أَن يُحْمَدُوا۟ بِمَا لَمْ يَفْعَلُوا۟ فَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّهُم بِمَفَازَةٍ مِّنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

Think not that those who rejoice in what they have done (or brought about), and love to be praised for what they have not done,- think not you that they are rescued from the torment, and for them is a painful torment. [Al-Imran. 188]

Imaam Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: They rejoice in what they have brought about of bidah and misguidance, and love to be praised for following the Sunnah and sincerity. [i.e. they want to be praised for what they do not deserve about adherence to the sunnah] [1]

The Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, “Verily, Allah blocks the repentance of every adherent to bidah until he abandons his bidah”. [2]

Imam Al-Albani, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: “This does not constitute a Shariah ruling (i.e. does not mean that the Shariah prevents the person from repentance as a rule), but the meaning of the hadith is that an individual following the path of Bidah and it is made fair-seeming to him that it is good, this one does not repent from it. This is the barrier that hinders and prevents the adherent of Bidah from seeking repentance. (i.e. to abandon the Bidah) In this subject matter here, the scholars said that Bidah in the religion is more perilous than sin, as I explained to you”. [3]

The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, “Whoever starts a good thing [i.e. something other than bidah and sin] and is followed by others, he will have his own reward and a reward equal to that of those who follow him, without it detracting from their reward in any way. Whoever starts a bad thing [i.e. a bidah, sin or something that opposes Islaam] and is followed by others, will bear the burden of his own sin and a burden equal to that of those who follow him, without it detracting from their burden in any way”. [4]

Imam As-Sadi, may Allah have mercy upon him, said, “This subject matter makes clear to you the lofty station of calling to the path of Allah, guidance to His path through every means and path that leads to it; and the lowly status of the caller to evil and a leader in it, and that he is the most degraded human being”. [5]

The Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,  said:

إن الله يبغض البليغ من الرجال الذي يتخلل بلسانه تخلل الباقرة بلسانها

Indeed, Allah hates the eloquent one among men who moves his tongue round [within his teeth], as cattle do. [5.1]

Al-Allaamah Abdul Muhsin Al-Abbad, may Allaah preserve him, said: The person intended in this hadith is the one who speaks eloquently, while using obscure or ambiguous language, immerses himself in speech and burdens himself. He burdens himself in speech and utters something blameworthy. However, if this (eloquence) is not done by way of burdening oneself in speech, such as the one whom Allah has granted eloquence and he utilises it in his speech to clarify the truth, then this is not blameworthy. Allah hates the person who speaks eloquently and utters that which is blameworthy due to deliberately utilising obscure, ambiguous and burdensome speech. This person is likened to a cow that moves its tongue round when eating. It is said that a cow is not like other animals because other animals use their teeth but a cow uses its tongue. This hadith forbids the likes of this action [i.e. eloquent, burdensome speech] and the one who does so is hated by Allah. [5.2]

Imam Ibn Asakir, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

“know, my brother – may Allah ordain for us to be from those who fear Him based on perfect knowledge regarding His perfect Greatness and Sovereignty, and fear Him as He should be feared – that the flesh of the scholars – may Allah the Exalted have mercy on them – is poison, and Allah’s usual way of tearing open the screens of their detractors is well known because speaking ill of them for what they are innocent of is a great matter, and treating their honour with falsehood and slander is a dangerous breeding ground, and it is a reprehensible behaviour to fabricate things about those among them whom Allah choose to revive knowledge”. [6]

Al-Allamah Muqbil Bin Hadi Al-Wadi’i, may Allah have mercy upon him, said, “Among the hallmarks of the proponents of illegal partisanship is that they mock the (upright) scholars and refuse to sit in the gatherings of the scholars. This is what brings joy to the enemies of Islam, rather it is what brings joy to the devils, and Allah’s Aid is sought”. [7]

The Shaikh also said: Those who speak ill of the scholars, their call will cease and the call of the scholars will remain. Look – may Allah protect you – at the figureheads of the Mu’tazila, and they were extremely intelligent. When they spoke of ill Ahlus Sunnah, the call of the Mu’tazila ceased, the mention of Abu Al-Hudhayl ceased, the mention of Ibrahim Al-Nadhaam ceased, the mention of Wasil Bin Ataa ceased, the mention of Ibrahim Bin Ashras ceased, the mention of Amr Bin Ubaid ceased, while the honourable mention of the scholars remained, Saeed Bin Al-Musayyab, Humayd Bin Abdur Rahman Bin Awf, Abu Salamah, and after them Abdullah Bin Al-Mubarak and Imam Malik. Their honourable mention remains until our time. We ask Allah to bestow mercy on Al-Bukhari and Muslim, on Sa’eed Bin Al-Musayyab, Ibn Al-Mubarak, Abu Salamah Bin Abdur-Rahman Bin Awf, Humayd Bin Abdur Rahman Bin Awf, and those similar to them among the Imams of guidance, such as Imam Ahmad, Abu Hatim, and Abu Zur’ah. We ask Allah to have mercy on them, whereas those others passed away and their books died. In this time, these people who attack the (upright) possessors of Shariah knowledge will die and their call will die, but the upright possessors of Shariah knowledge have died while their honourable mention is alive. The honourable mention of the people of knowledge remains and we ask Allah to have mercy on them, and we benefit from their knowledge, all praise be to Allah, and Allah will grant them an honourable mention in later generations. [8]

Imam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz, may Allah have mercy upon him, was asked: Some individuals consistently violate the honour (of others), particularly (the honour of) scholars, and they are keen to distance themselves from them and refuse to acknowledge or listen to them. Could this behaviour be considered a violation of Allah’s Shariah because when a person hates a scholar and does not learn, they die ignorant or turn away (from guidance). Allah says: [فَاسْأَلُوا أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ – So, ask the people of knowledge if you do not know]. May Allah reward you; what is your advice?

Response: This has detailed clarification. The one who abuses the scholars of the Sunnah and cautions others against them is inclined towards being a hypocrite, possessor of a wicked heart and creed. It is imperative to be cautious of such an individual, to restrain them, and to notify people about him until he is halted and appropriately punished. This is because warning against people of knowledge and making others flee from them, thus they are not benefited from and Allah’s Shariah is not acquired from them, this can only stem from hypocrisy, disbelief in Allah, obstinacy towards the truth, and hatred towards Islam. As for the warning against evil scholars and the scholars of Bidah so that a student is not deceived by them, this person is to be thanked for his deed and striving after he acquired insight and certainty (regarding the affair)- based on clarity regarding what he says and the one warned against is well-known for bidah and corruption…[9]

Al-Allaamah Muqbil Bin Haadi Al-Waadi’ee (may Allah have mercy upon him) was asked: “What is the verdict of Shariah regarding one who mocks the scholars of the Sunnah, such as Ibn Baz, Ibn Uthaymeen, Shaikh Al-Albani, and others, claiming that they are callers to Fitna?”

Response: This is a plot of the enemies of Islam to separate the scholars from the common people. This plot has been embraced by the Sufis, the Shiites, and the advocates of illegal partisanship who harbour bias against scholars, along with the Sururis, who defame the scholars and accusing them that their call is that of Fitna. Therefore, it is said to them: O Miskeen! What have you done for Islam?! Where are your books? Where is your pursuit of knowledge? Where is your call to Islam? Perhaps you are in an evil state, the beard shaved as we have seen the Sufis in Hadhramaut. The beard is shaved, the creed is ruined, and you are upon extreme ignorance. However, what is important to know is that they are callers to ignorance and misguidance.

Allah said in His Noble Book:

يَرْفَعِ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ دَرَجَاتٍ‏

Allah will exalt in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge. And Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do. [Al-Mujaadilah. 11]

Allah mentioned them (I.e. the upright scholars) specifically after mentioning the believers in general, saying:

إِنَّمَا يَخْشَى اللَّهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الْعُلَمَاءُ

It is only those who have knowledge among His slaves that fear Allah. (Surah Fatir. Ayah 28)

Allah also said:

Say: “Are those who know equal to those who know not?” It is only men of understanding who will remember (i.e. get a lesson from Allah’s Signs and Verses). (Surah Az-Zumar. Ayah 9)

This is proof that those who speak ill of the scholars do not possess sound intellect. [10]

Ibn Asakir, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: Al-Abdariy was the Shaikh with the most memorisation I have ever met and he was a jurist. It was reported that he entered Damascus during the lifetime of Abul-Qasim Bin Abee Al-Ala, and I heard him when Imam Malik was mentioned, he said “He is coarse and rough!” He stated when he came across a statement of Abu Ubaid, “He was nothing but an absent-minded donkey who did not know jurisprudence!” I was told about him that he said about Ibrahim Al-Nakha’ee: “He is one-eyed, evil!” So we gathered one day with Ibn As-Samarqandi to read the book Al-Kamil, and it was stated in it “As-Sadi said such and such” , so he said, “Ibn Adi is lying, rather this is a statement of Ibrahim Al-Jawzajani”. So, I said to him, “He is Al-Sadi. How much bad manners can we tolerate from you when you say such-and-such about Ibrahim, and say about Malik “Coarse” and speak about Abu Ubaid?!” He became angry and trembling, and said, “Ibn Al-Khatibah, Al-Bardani and others were afraid of me, so the matter came to you and you say this about me?!” So, Ibn As-Samarqandi said to him: “This is for that (behaviour of yours)”. I (Ibn Asaakir) said to him, “We’ll only honour you as long as you honour the Imams”. [11]

Imam Al-Awzaa’ee, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: “O Muslims! Fear Allah, accept the advice of the sincere advisers and the admonition of the admonishers. know that this knowledge is religion, so beware of what you do, from whom you take your religion, the one you follow, and the one with whom your religion is safe because indeed all the proponents of religious innovation are falsifiers, liars, and sinners. They are not cautious – neither do they pay attention nor do they fear, and together with that they are not to be trusted that they would not distort what you hear. They say what they do not know with regards to what they disapprove of and when proclaiming their lies; but Allah (knows, hears, and sees) what they do. Therefore, be cautious of them, trust them not, reject them, and avoid them because this is what your earlier scholars did and commanded, and likewise the righteous ones who came thereafter. Be careful of opposing Allah and being the means to destroying the religion He has ordained – breaking its commands and prohibitions, nullifying and weakening it by respecting the innovators in religious affairs and those who initiate that which is not from the religion because you know what has been transmitted (i.e. the prohibitions) about respecting or exalting them. What can be greater respect and exaltation than acquiring your religion from them- following and believing them, drawing close to them, and assisting them in enticing the ones they entice and wooing to their views and the religion (i.e. religious innovations) they follow? This is sufficient to be regarded as associates of theirs in what they do”. [12]

Imam Abu Haatim Ar-Raazee, may Allah have mercy upon him] said, “A (clear) sign of Ahlul Bidah (the proponents of innovation in religious matters) is that they speak ill of Ahlul Athar (those who adhere to the authentic narrations of Prophet and his companions in creed, manners, and methodology)”. [13]

Malik Bin Deenaar, may Allah have mercy upon him, said, “It is enough evil for a man that he is not righteous yet he speaks ill of the righteous”. [14]

Imaam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

All praise is due to Allah, who in every age and interval between the Prophets, raises up a group from the people of knowledge, who call the misguided to guidance, patiently bear ill-treatment and harm. With the Book of Allaah they give life to the dead and with the Light of Allaah they give sight to the blind. How many a person killed by Iblees (the Devil) they have revived, how beautiful their effect has been upon the people, and how vile the people have been towards them! They remove from Allaah’s Book the alterations of those going beyond bounds, the false claims of the liars and the false interpretations of the ignoramus- those who uphold the banner of innovation and let loose the trials and discords, who oppose the Book and agree upon opposing the Book. They speak about Allaah and his Book without knowledge, argue about what is ambiguous in the Book and deceive the ignorant ones with such ambiguities. We seek refuge in Allaah from the trials of the misguided ones. [15]

We say to Haqiqatjou and his ilk when they belittle Imam Muhammad Ibn Abdil Wahhab or any scholar of Ahlus Sunnah:

يُخاطِبُني السَفيهُ بِكُلِّ قُبحٍ
فَأَكرَهُ أَن أَكونَ لَهُ مُجيبا
يَزيدُ سَفاهَةً فَأَزيدُ حِلماً
كَعودٍ زادَهُ الإِحراقُ طيبا

The fool addresses me with every repugnant (expression etc), but I hate to be a respondent, so he increases in foolishness and I increase in forbearance, just as Oud increases in good smell when burnt.

Two Essential Qualities of an Upright Role Model – Critical Scrutiny of Influencers

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Two Essential Qualities of an Upright Role Model – Tawhid and Obedience to Allah

Allah, The Mighty and Majestic, said:

إِنَّ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ كَانَ أُمَّةً قَانِتًا لِّلَّهِ حَنِيفًا وَلَمْ يَكُ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ

Verily, Ibrahim was an Ummah (leader), Qanitan (obedient), Hanifan (one who worshipped Allah alone), and he was not one of the Mushrikeen (polytheists and those who associate partners with Allah in worship). [An-Nahl. 120]

Ibrahim, peace be upon him, is the leader of the Hunafaa (the adherents to Tawhid) and this is why Allah said to him: [إِنِّى جَاعِلُكَ لِلنَّاسِ إِمَامًا – Verily, I am going to make you a leader (Prophet) of humankind]. [Al-Baqarah. 124]

It is a tradition among people to align themselves with prominent figures, particularly those they deeply respect. Consequently, if an individual claims that their chosen leader is an Imam (a virtuous guide), it is important to recognise that no Imam surpasses Prophet Ibrahim (following Prophet Muhammad). Allah has made declarations regarding Prophet Ibrahim: [وَمَن يَرْغَبُ عَن مِّلَّةِ إِبْرَٰهِۦمَ إِلَّا مَن سَفِهَ نَفْسَهُۥ – And who turns away from the religion of Ibrahim (i.e. Islamic Monotheism) except him who befools himself]! [Al-Baqarah. 130]

When an individual relies this as evidence to assert that the person they follow is an Imam, it is essential to scrutinise the Aqeedah (Islamic Creed) of that individual whom they elevate to the status of Imam. This evaluation should be conducted in accordance with the Qur’an to determine if he belongs to the adherents of Tawhid. Should someone attempt to validate the position of Imam as a form of proof, it is imperative that this proof entails a thorough examination of the Aqeedah of the individual designated as Imam, assessed against the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah, to ascertain whether he embodies the principles of Tawhid. Furthermore, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said regarding the Prophet:

لَّقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِى رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرْجُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلْءَاخِرَ وَذَكَرَ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًا

Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much. [Surah Al-Ahzab. 21] (1)

Prophet Saul, peace be upon him

Allah [The Exalted] stated about The Children of Israel:

And their Prophet (Samuel) said to them, “Indeed Allah has appointed Talut (Saul) as a king over you.” They said, “How can he be a king over us when we are better fitted than him for the kingdom, and he has not been given enough wealth.” He said: “Verily, Allah has chosen him above you and has increased him abundantly in knowledge and stature. And Allah grants His Kingdom to whom He wills. And Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures’ needs, All-Knower.” [Al-Baqarah 247]

Imam As-Sadi, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

He [Talut] was given deep insight and physical strength through which he was qualified for his position as king because if he has deep insight and the ability to implement the right decision, he will be able to fulfil this role in the most perfect manner; but if he lacked one of the two, he would not be able to do his job properly. If he was physically strong but lacked deep insight, a king would be unsuccessful in running the affairs of the kingdom because his strength would not be utilised wisely. If he had deep insight but did not have the strength to implement any decisions, his insight would not benefit him because he would not be able to achieve anything. [2]

The Goal Behind Leadership

Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

The difference between the desire for righteous leadership as opposed to merely desiring leadership: It is the difference between exalting the command of Allah and being sincere to Allah as opposed to love of exalting oneself and hastening towards the fulfilment of desires. Indeed the one who is sincere to Allah and exalts Him, he loves that his Lord is obeyed and not disobeyed; [loves that] Allah’s Word should be uppermost and that all affairs of the religion should be established sincerely for the sake of Allah, and [that] the servants should obey Allah’s commands and keep away from what Allah has forbidden. He is sincere in his servitude to Allah and sincere to Allah’s creation in calling them to the path of Allah. So he loves to be [an upright] leader in the religion; rather he asks his Lord to make him from the leaders of the righteous people who are followed, just as he is a follower of the righteous. Therefore, if this servant of Allah who calls to the path of Allah- loves that he is considered dignified in the eyes [of the people], revered and beloved in their hearts and is one followed amongst them, so that he is trusted by them and they follow the example of the Messenger through him, then this [desire of his] does not harm him; rather he is praised for it. That is because the caller to Allah loves that Allah is obeyed and singled out in worship. He loves to be a means by way of which [people] are aided to [obey Allah, single out Allah in worship and follow the Messenger]. And due to this, [when] Allah mentioned those chosen slaves of His- whom He praised in His revelation and will grant the best of reward on the day they meet Him- He mentioned them with the best of their deeds and characteristics, and then said:

وَٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَٰجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّٰتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَٱجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا

And those who say: “Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for pious. [Al-Furqan 74]

They ask Allah to grant them the comfort of the eye by making their wives and offspring obedient to Allah, and to grant them happiness in their hearts due to being followed by the righteous in obedience and servitude to Allah. This is because a trustworthy leader in the religion cooperates upon obedience and the call them to (sound) leadership in the religion, whose foundation is patience and certainty, as Allah said:

وَجَعَلۡنَا مِنۡہُمۡ أَٮِٕمَّةً۬ يَہۡدُونَ بِأَمۡرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُواْ‌ۖ وَڪَانُواْ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا يُوقِنُونَ

And We made from among them (Children of Israel), leaders, giving guidance under Our Command, when they were patient and used to believe with certainty in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). [As-Sajdah 24]

Thus, in their supplication to Allah that He makes them leaders of the righteous people, is that Allah guides, grants them success, bless them with beneficial knowledge and righteous actions–outwardly and inwardly–without which (sound) leadership in the religion cannot be achieved.

This is different from (merely) seeking leadership, for indeed its seekers hasten to obtain it in order to achieve their goals, exaltedness in the earth, enslavement and attachment of the hearts to them, and aiding them in all their goals, while they are exalted and everyone subservient to them. This pursuit of leadership brings about corruption – (the extent) which none can judge except Allah, such as rebellion, envy, transgression, enmity, oppression, trials, being ardent in defending oneself at the expense of violating the rights of Allah, exalting those despised by Allah and belittling those honoured by Allah.

A Conversation Between Imam Al-Albani, may Allah have mercy upon him, and others

The Arabic text of this article was shared by our close companion and friend, Ustadh Abu Tasneem (Mushaf Al-Banghali), who suggested that I share it in the English language. May Allah bless him and his family Ameen.

The Shaikh: What is the worth (value) of love for the sake of Allah? What do you say (i.e. your opinion)? Please raise your finger if you have an answer to this question; go ahead.

The questioner: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “Allah will shade seven individuals on the Day when there is no shade except His shade: two men who love each other for the sake of Allah and come together for that purpose, and…” (a)

The Shaikh: This answer is a correct statement in its essence, but it is not the (intended) answer to the question.

The questioner: This is a (good) recompense.

The Shaikh: This is a closer definition of love for the sake of Allah, but it is not a complete definition. My question is about the value that two individuals who love each other for Allah’s sake must give (bestow) to one another. I do not mean the rewards in the Hereafter. I would like to know what practical evidence exists to demonstrate love for the sake of Allah between two individuals. It is possible for two men to love each other, but it is superficial and not real. What is the proof of love (for the sake of Allah) in reality?

Another questioner: To wish for you what I wish for myself.

The Shaikh: This is a characteristic of love or some characteristics of love.

The questioner: The summary.

The Shaikh: Please proceed.

The questioner: Allah, The Exalted, says: [إن كنتم تحبون الله فاتبعوني يحببكم الله – Say (Muhammad the people)! If you truly love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you]. (b)

The Shaikh: This is an answer to a different question. It is a correct answer to another question; please proceed.

Another questioner: The answer may be an authentic hadith.

The Shaikh: Distance from (avoid) Qadqadah (speech built on may be, may not), as it may not yield any (meaningful) answers.

The questioner: The authentic hadith: “There are three qualities for which anyone who is characterised by them will find the sweetness of faith…” (c)

The Shaikh: (Will) find (the sweetness of faith)…

The questioner: Yes, a condition (or something that must be present) for those who love one another for the sake of Allah.

The Shaikh: “To love a man only for the sake of Allah”, this is not the (real) answer. This (hadith) is a sign (or an effect) of love for the sake of Allah. What is this sign (or effect)? It is a sweetness experienced in his heart. The question was not about the effects of love for the sake of Allah. Please continue.

Another questioner: It seems you are referring to (or you intend) the statement of Allah…

The Shaikh: What do you have and what do I want? Answer the question.

The questioner:

By (the phenomenon of) time (which Allah manifests through His creation of night and day and in which the servants perform their deeds). Indeed, (all of) mankind is in loss. Except those who believe (in Allāh, His Angels, Books, Prophets, the Last Day and the Divine Decree) and work righteous deeds (which are sincere and correct) and mutually advise each other (in calling to and abiding by) the truth and mutually advise each other with patience (in facing the inevitable harms brought by calling to the truth). (d)

The Shaikh: This is the answer, well done. This is the answer. The explanation of this is that if I (truly) love you for the sake of Allah, I will offer you sincere advice, and you should reciprocate in kind. For this reason, this mutual advice is quite rare among those who claim to love one another for the sake of Allah, The Mighty and Majestic. While this love may contain some degree of sincerity, it is not complete, as each of us tends to consider the feelings of the other (i.e. at the expense of sincere advice). We fear annoying (one another), making (one another) startled (creating distance). Let him live with us (i.e. we prefer to keep each other at the expense of sincere advice).

The price (or value) of love for the sake of Allah is to be sincere to one another through sincere advice, enjoining good, and forbidding evil- always and forever. The bond formed through such advice is more profound than mere companionship. The example provided by the brother is indeed commendable and relevant to the inquiry at hand. It has been established with authenticity from the etiquettes of the Prophet’s companions that when (they met and before) departing, one of them would recite to the other:

والعصر إن الإنسان لفي خسر إلا الذين أمنوا وعملوا الصالحات وتواصوا بالحق وتواصوا بالصبر

[a] Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “There are seven whom Allah will shade on a day when there is no shade but His. They are a just ruler, a youth who grew up in the worship of Allah, one whose heart is attached to the mosques, two who love each other, meet each other, and depart from each other for the sake of Allah, a man who a beautiful woman of high status tempts but he rejects her, saying, ‘I fear Allah,’ and one who spends in charity and hides it such that his right-hand does not know what his left hand has given, and one who remembered Allah in private and he wept.” [Al-Bukhari 660 and Muslim 1031]

[c] “There are three qualities for which anyone who is characterised by them will find the sweetness of faith: he to whom Allah and His Messenger are dearer than all else; he who loves a man for Allah’s sake alone; and he who has as great an abhorrence of returning to unbelief after Allah has rescued him from it as he has of being cast into Hell”. Sharing a principle with well wishers who innocently share “Jumu’ah Mubarak”

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

A Principle to Share With Well Wishes Who Innocently Share Unauthentic Supplications or Congratulate With “Jumu’ah Mubarak”

Acts of Worship Must Fulfil Two Conditions

Al-Allamah Abdul Muhsin Al-Abbad, may Allah preserve him, said:

Al-Allamah Abdul Muhsin Al-Abbad, may Allah preserve him, said: “The initial ruling regarding acts of worship is that neither are they permissible nor legislated, except when there is proof to show that they are legislated by Allah and His Messenger; otherwise they are included in the statement of Allah: [أَمۡ لَهُمۡ شُرَڪَـٰٓؤُاْ شَرَعُواْ لَهُم مِّنَ ٱلدِّينِ مَا لَمۡ يَأۡذَنۢ بِهِ ٱللَّهُ‌ۚ – Or have they partners with Allah (false gods), who have instituted for them a religion which Allah has not allowed?!]”

Two conditions must be fulfilled for an act of worship to be accepted; the first of the two conditions is that the act of worship must be done sincerely for Allah, and secondly the act of worship must be in agreement with the Sunnah of the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. The act of worship has to be done sincerely for the sake of Allah (alone) and no one is to be associated as a partner with Allah in worship. The act of worship must be done in conformity with what the Messenger conveyed (the Qur’an and the Sunnah). This is what the Shahadah (لا إله إلا الله) necessitates that acts of worship must be carried out sincerely for the sake of Allah alone; and (محمدا رسول الله) necessitates that acts of worship must be carried out in conformity with what was revealed to the noble Messenger. Therefore, Allah is not to be worshipped with bidah, newly invented matters in Religion, and evil acts, for which Allah [The Most High] has sent down no authority; rather acts of worship must conform with the Sunnah of the noble Messenger. If any of these two conditions or both of them are not fulfilled, the act of worship will be rejected by Allah [The Mighty and Majestic] says: [وَقَدِمۡنَآ إِلَىٰ مَا عَمِلُواْ مِنۡ عَمَلٍ۬ فَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُ هَبَآءً۬ مَّنثُورً – And We shall turn to whatever deeds they disbelievers, polytheists] did, and We shall make such deeds as scattered floating particles of dust] [Soorah Al-Furqaan. Ayah 23]

The noble Messenger said: [مَنْ أَحْدَثَ فِي أَمْرِنَا هَذَا مَا لَيْسَ مِنْهُ فَهُوَ رَدٌ- He who innovates something in this matter of ours [i.e., Islam] that is not of it will have it rejected [by Allah].”[Sahih Al-Bukhari. Number 2697] [Sahih Muslim. Number 1718]

And in another wording of this hadeeth in Saheeh Muslim the Prophet said: [مَنْ عَمِلَ عَمَلًا لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْرُنَا فَهُوَ رَد – He who does an act (of worship) which we have not commanded (i.e. not commanded by the Prophet), will have it rejected].

The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

Verily he lives long among you will see a lot of differing, so you must keep to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Khulafa Ar-Rashidun [the rightly guided caliphs]. Adhere to it with your molar teeth (i.e. adhere to it firmly). And beware of newly invented matters [in the religion], for every newly invented matter [in the religion] is a bidah [innovation in the religion], and every bidah is misguidance. [Abu Dawood. Number 4607] [Tirmidhee. Number 2676] [1]

The Danger of Bidah (Innovating beliefs and acts of worship) in Islam

Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Mad’khali, may Allāh preserve him, said:

The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him, said: [وشر الأمور محدثاتها – The worst of all affairs are the newly invented matters in the religion]. The Prophet said this when there was no Mubtadi (innovator in the religion) present. He warned against it because Allah informed him that many from this Ummah will be misguided, split (into deviant sects) and follow the (misguided) paths of those who came before them (the misguided Jews and Christians). Allah informed the Prophet and he conveyed these realities to the Ummah. Thus due to the Prophet’s enmity against innovation in religious matters, his hatred for it and due to fearing for his Ummah regarding it, he warned them against it in every or most of his khutbahs. He described it as the worst of all affairs (in the religion) وشر الأمور محدثاتها -The worst of all affairs are the newly invented matters (in the religion). [2]

Supplication is a great act of devotion to Allah and a lofty act of worship (performed) by a Muslim within the confines of the noble Messenger’s guidance and adherence to his Sunnah. This is because the best and perfect guidance is the guidance of Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him. Indeed, the Prophet used to say – on every Jumu’ah- whilst addressing the people, “To proceed; indeed the most truthful speech is the Book of Allah and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad . The worst of all affairs are the newly invented matters (in the religion), for every newly invented matter (in the religion) is Bidah, every Bidah is misguidance and every (act of misguidance will lead to the) fire”. Therefore, it is obligated to a Muslim that he is very careful of the newly invented matters in the religion, and that he adheres to the guidance of the leader of the Prophets and Messengers  (Muhammad – peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him).

The guidance of the Messenger in matters related to supplications is a perfect guidance and there’s no deficiency in them. The Prophet did not leave any good and benefit related to supplications; rather he (clarified and explained) the affair perfectly and fulfilled its obligation, just as he did in all aspects of the religion. He did not die until Allah revealed: [ٱلۡيَوۡمَ أَكۡمَلۡتُ لَكُمۡ دِينَكُمۡ وَأَتۡمَمۡتُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ نِعۡمَتِى وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ ٱلۡإِسۡلَـٰمَ دِينً۬ا‌ۚ – This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion]. [Al-Ma’idah. 3]

Whoever contemplates the guidance of the Prophet in matters related to supplications will find that they are perfect guidance- sufficient and perfect, and there is no deficiency in it. He clarified and made known – to the Ummah- supplications that are to be performed at specific times, specific places and in specific circumstances. He made very clear the distinction between those supplications that can be performed – in general – without any restriction to a specific time, place or situation, and those that are restricted to specific times, places and situations.

The established and authentic supplications of the Prophet deals with all the circumstances of the people – in times of happiness, sorrow, physical wellbeing, illness, bliss, calamity, when one is traveling or not traveling, and other than that. He guided his Ummah – in this affair- to all good and to that which they should say in all circumstances. He did not abandon any supplication that would get a person close to Allah – that which will lead a person to happiness in this life and the next; rather, he clarified and made it known to his Ummah – completely and perfectly. How can this not be the case when it is the fact that he said, “Allah did not send a Prophet except that it was obligated to him to guide his followers to what he knew was good for them and warn them against what he knew was bad for them”.

Indeed, it is amazing that some of the common people abandon the authentic supplications that are gathered in many of the books – the well-known authentic books – and then accept the supplications that are newly invented, innovated (in the religion) and  initiated by some of the Mutakallifeen (i.e. those figureheads who pretend and fabricate things) and written by some of the Mutakharriseen (i.e. those figureheads who lie, engage in falsehood through which they seek to obliterate the truth and speak about Allah without knowledge). They do not rely on the Qur’an and the Sunnah, and do not  give consideration to the guidance of the best person in this Ummah (Muhammad). Thus, they preoccupy the people with this, turn them away from the Sunan (authentic practices of the Prophet) and plunge them into Bidah. Regarding this affair, some of the pious predecessors said, “A people do not innovate a newly invented matter in their religion, except that Allah removes something similar to it from their Sunnah, and then it does not return to them until the day of judgment”.

How can it be permissible for a  Muslim who knows the virtue of the Messenger, his status and sincere advice to the Ummah, but then he abandons the Messenger’s guidance and his great and blessed supplications, and then accepts the supplications and the books of these Mutakharriseen and Mutakallifeen. Allāh, The Most High, says:

[ادْعُوا رَبَّكُمْ تَضَرُّعًا وَخُفْيَةً ۚ إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُعْتَدِينَ – Invoke your Lord with humility and in secret. He likes not the aggressors]. [Al-A’raf 55]

Regarding the statement of Allah: [إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُعْتَدِينَ – He likes not the aggressors], Imam Al-Qurtubi, may Allāh have mercy upon him, – in his Tafsir – mentioned a number of different types of aggression in this subject matter, and one of them is when one supplicates through that which is not found in the Qur’an and the Sunnah – words that are deficient and are in the form of rhymes, and found in pamphlets, which neither have any origin (in the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah) nor based (on the Qur’an and Sunnah). Then he (i.e. the initiator or innovator of these supplications) adopts them as his slogan and abandons that which the Messenger used as supplications.

The most dangerous this affair can be is that some of these supplications are mixed with wordings that are tantamount to disbelief and polytheism. Indeed, what is obligated to every Muslim is that he is extremely careful of the likes of these supplications that have been invented by some of the misguided Shaikhs and the leaders of misguidance, thus they hinder people – by way of them – from the guidance of the Prophet and turn them away from his Sunnah. So, they go astray and deviate many people, and deviate from the right path. Indeed, the smart Muslim should pose a question in this affair regarding that which led these people to innovate these supplications and fabricated these acts which they devote themselves to permanently, despite the fact that they contain misguidance and falsehood. One will not find an answer, except that what these people want is to eat the wealth of the people unlawfully, increase their followers and devotees. Mu’aadh Bin Jabal, may Allāh be pleased with him,  said: “In the times after you, there would be trials in which wealth would be abundant and the Qur’an would be easy so much so that every believer, hypocrite, man, woman, young, grown up, slave and free man will learn it. Then a man might say, ‘What happened to the people that they do not follow me while I read the Quran? They are not going to follow me until I innovate for them other than it’. So, beware of that which is innovated (in religion), for whatever is innovated is misguidance’’’.  [Abu Dawud. 4611]

Therefore, it is obligated to a Muslim to be extremely cautious of these people, adhere to the Sunnah and follow the path of its followers, for in that there is safety and success. [3]

Jumu’ah Mubarak On a Friday

Al-Allamah Salih Al-Fawzan, may Allāh preserve him, was asked: What is the ruling on the statement of a Muslim to another Muslim “Jumu’ah Mubarak through text messages or in forums every Friday?

The Shaikh responded: This practice has no basis (in the Qur’an and the Sunnah) and is considered an innovation in the religion. It is not permissible to offer congratulations on Friday, as there is no evidence supporting this practice, nor is it part of the actions of the Salaf (i.e. pious predecessors -the Sahabah and their well known followers). It is an innovation in religion, and those who engage in such practices are currently utilising mobile phones and the internet to promote innovations – in religion -in this manner.

Emotional Challenges

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Some emotional challenges mentioned by Al-Allamah Abdur Rahman Bin Yahyah Al-Mu’allimee that may have prevented al-Kawtharee from embracing the truth

To oppose desires – by way of action – for the sake of the truth is a manifest thing due to the obligation and difficulty it involves, and this can be viewed from different angles as follows:

A person sees that by acknowledging the truth, it would necessitate that he has acknowledged that he was upon falsehood. (This is) because a person is nurtured upon a religion, creed, school of thought or views, which he acquired from his nurturer and teacher, considers it to be the truth and followed it for a long time. Then when it becomes clear to him that (the religion, creed, view, or school of thought) is false, it becomes difficult for him to acknowledge, just like when his forefathers, ancestors or the one he follows are upon  a path and its falsity is clarified for him, for he sees that their deficiencies necessitate his own deficiencies, and an acknowledgement of their misguidance or errors necessitates his own.

It may be that clinging to falsehood gives him prestige, fame and a livelihood, thus, it becomes difficult for him to acknowledge this falsehood and thus all those benefits (i.e. the fame, prestige, livelihood etc) would disappear.

It may be that a person is upon ignorance or falsehood, then another person comes along and clarifies the proofs for him, thus, he sees that by acknowledging such proofs, it would necessitate that he is lacking (in understanding) and that it was that person who guided him. Due to this, we find that it is not difficult for some of those attributed to knowledge to acknowledge their mistakes when it becomes manifests to them in their researches and studies, but it becomes difficult for them if it was others who clarified such mistakes.

When another person clarifies the truth for him, he sees that by acknowledging such truth it would necessitate an acknowledgement of the clarifier’s virtue, knowledge and correctness due to that clarification, thus, that becomes great in the eyes of the people and many people follow him [i.e. the person who clarified the truth]. So you will find some of those attributed to knowledge being eager to prove the mistakes of other scholars even if that is done by way of falsehood due to envy and seeking to diminish their status amongst the people.

Utbah Bin Ghazwan

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Umayr  al-Adawi, may Allah have mercy upon him, reported:

Utba Bin Ghazwan, may Allah be pleased with him delivered us a sermon, praised Allah and exalted Him, and then said: To proceed: Verily the world has been given the news of its end, and that too quite early. Nothing would be left out of it but only water left in the utensil which its owner leaves. You are going to shift to an abode which knows no end, and you should shift with the good before you, for we have been told that a stone would be thrown at one side of the Hell and it would go down even for seventy years but would not be able to reach its bottom. By Allah, it would be fully packed. Do you find it something strange? It has been mentioned that there yawns a distance which one would be able to cover in forty years from one end to another of Paradise, and a day would come when it would be fully packed and you must be knowing that I was the seventh amongst seven who had been with Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and we had nothing to eat but the leaves of the tree until the corners of the mouth were injured. We found a sheet which we tore in two and divided between myself and Sa’d Bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him. I made the lower garment with half of it and so did Sa’d make the lower garment with half of it and today there is none amongst us who has not become the governor of a city from amongst the cities (of the Islamic State). I seek refuge with Allah that I should consider myself great whereas I am insignificant in the Sight of Allah. Prophethood does not remain for ever and its impact fades with the result that it changes eventually into kingship, and you would soon come to know and experience those rulers who would come after us and see. Believer’s Bahaviour Towards Muslim Rulers – [Supplicates For Them….]

Reflections from some statements of Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Mad’khali [22 of 80]

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

All praise and thanks be to Allah, and may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon Allah’s Messenger, his family, his companions and those who follow his guidance. To proceed:

Indeed, lying is repugnant and heinous – considered extremely repugnant and loathsome by the Islamic legislation, sound intellect and sound natural disposition; abhorred in all nations, all religions and creeds. Indeed, Allah made it forbidden in all messages of the Messengers, dispraised lying and liars in many verses and promised them the severest punishment. Allah, The Blessed and Exalted, said:

Say (O Muhammad):“(But) the things that my Lord has indeed forbidden are Al-Fawahish (great evil sins, every kind of unlawful sexual intercourse, etc.) whether committed openly or secretly, sins (of all kinds), unrighteous oppression, joining partners (in worship) with Allah for which He has given no authority, and saying things about Allah of which you have no knowledge]. [Al-A’raf. 33]

Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy upon him, held that the most loathsome and greatest of these unlawful deeds is to speak about Allah without knowledge, since Shirk and Kufr did not occur except from lying. Allah said:

And follow not (O man i.e., say not, or do not or witness not, etc.) that of which you have no knowledge (e.g. one’s saying: “I have seen,” while in fact he has not seen, or “I have heard,” while he has not heard). Verily! The hearing, and the sight, and the heart, of each of those you will be questioned (by Allah)].

Allah said:

And say not concerning that which your tongues put forth falsely: “This is lawful and this is forbidden,” so as to invent lies against Allah. Verily, those who invent lies against Allah will never prosper. A passing brief enjoyment (will be theirs), but they will have a painful torment. [An-Nahl. 116-117]

Allah forbade lying and mentioned it alongside shirk. Allah said:

So shun the abomination (worshipping) of idol, and shun lying speech (false statements). Hunafa’ Lillah (i.e. to worship none but Allah), not associating partners (in worship, etc.) unto Him and whoever assigns partners to Allah, it is as if he had fallen from the sky, and the birds had snatched him, or the wind had thrown him to a far off place. [Al-Hajj. 30-31]

This dangerous Shirk is established on lies and it is its greatest foundation and principle. Allah considers it as the severest type of wrongdoing. Allah said:

And who does more wrong than the one who invents a lie against Allah, while he is being invited to Islam? And Allah guides not the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers and disbelievers) folk. They intend to extinguish the Light of Allah with their mouths. But Allah will complete His Light even though the disbelievers hate (it). [As-Saff. 7-8]

Allah clarified their filthy goals and evil intentions, and that through their lies and fabrications, they intend to extinguish Allah’s guidance, His proofs, evidences and mighty signs. This is the same regarding everyone amongst the people of desires who wages war against the truth and its adherents, for they want to extinguish Allah’s guidance, nullify His proofs and evidences in order to give the upper hand to their falsehoods and misguidance. Allah, The Exalted, stated regarding lying and the liars:

فَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّن ڪَذَبَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلصِّدۡقِ إِذۡ جَآءَهُ ۥۤ‌ۚ أَلَيۡسَ فِى جَهَنَّمَ مَثۡوً۬ى لِّلۡكَـٰفِرِينَ

Then, who does more wrong than one who utters a lie against Allah, and denies the truth when it comes to him! Is there not in Hell an abode for the disbelievers?] [Az-Zumar. 32]

This is the recompense for the liars. Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “Avoid the seven destructive sins: Shirk, witchcraft, killing a soul whom Allah has forbidden to be killed, except in cases dictated by Islamic law; consuming usury, consuming the orphans’ wealth, fleeing from the battlefield and slandering chaste, innocent women”.

He, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, placed slander- and it is one of the most loathsome types of lies – amongst these major sins that Allah commanded us to avoid due to its danger; rather the one who commits this slander is cursed in this life and the hereafter. Allah, The Exalted, said:

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَرۡمُونَ ٱلۡمُحۡصَنَـٰتِ ٱلۡغَـٰفِلَـٰتِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتِ لُعِنُواْ فِى ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱلۡأَخِرَةِ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ۬

Verily, those who accuse chaste women, who never even think of anything touching their chastity and are good believers, are cursed in this life and in the Hereafter, and for them will be a great torment]. [Surah an-Noor. Aayah 23]

Allah, The Exalted, stated with hatred towards the one who transmits lies and neither pondered nor had sound knowledge of the affair:

When you were propagating it with your tongues, and uttering with your mouths that whereof you had no knowledge, you counted it a little thing, while with Allah it was very great. And why did you not, when you heard it, say? “It is not right for us to speak of this. Glory be to You (O Allah) this is a great lie.” Allah forbids you from it and warns you not to repeat the like of it forever, if you are believers. [An-Nur . 15-17]

Allah said:

Verily, those who like that (the crime of) illegal sexual intercourse should be propagated among those who believe, they will have a painful torment in this world and in the Hereafter. And Allah knows and you know not]. [An-Nur 19]

This severe threat of punishment and dispraise is connected to slandering chaste women, and what is more dangerous than it is slandering those believers who are innocent- those who strive in the path of Allah, the callers to the path of Allah with truth and clear proofs. Indeed, the people of desires – those who wage war against the truth and its adherents – think that this is specific to the act of slandering chaste women!  Depraved is the thinking of the one who has this corrupt understanding! Indeed, this includes the one who violates the honour of the Muslims, especially the honour of the callers to the truth who are innocent, for indeed their honour has a great status that must be protected and not violated. It maybe that the one who violates this honour is more deserving of curse and punishment than the one who slanders chaste women due to a personal or worldly affair. Allaah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “Whoever argues based on falsehood knowingly will not cease to be under the wrath of Allah until he stops. And whoever says about a believer that which is not true, he will reside in Radghat Al-Khabaal [pus] until he recants”. The one who knowingly argues based on falsehood as well as the one who says about a believer that which is not true, his recompense as it is stated is that  he will be imprisoned in the pus of the people of the hell fire. This is an authentic hadith that was reported by Abu Dawud, Ahmad and Al-Haakim. Return to As-Sahihah 338 by Al-Albaani, may Allah have mercy upon him.

He, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “The worst form of usury is the violation of someone’s honour” – meaning the honour of those who are innocent. He said: “Verily, the worst act of usury is a man’s attack against the honour of his brother”. [As-Sahihah 1433 by Al-Albani and the other hadeeth that support this hadith] [Footnote a]

Allah, The Exalted, stated about those who lend an ear to lies and those affected by it amongst the Yahud, the Munaafiqoon and those who follow their way:

O Messenger (Muhammad)! Let not those who hurry to fall into disbelief grieve you, of such who say: “We believe” with their mouths but their hearts have no faith. And of the Yahood are men who listen much and eagerly to lies – listen to others who have not come to you. They change the words from their places; they say, “If you are given this, take it, but if you are not given this, then beware!” And whomsoever Allah wants to put in Al-Fitnah [error, because of his rejecting the Faith], you can do nothing for him against Allah. Those are the ones whose hearts Allah does not want to purify (from disbelief and hypocrisy); for them there is a disgrace in this world, and in the Hereafter a great torment. [Al-Ma’idah. 41]

Look at what is these verses regarding dispraise and severe disparagement for those who lend an ear to lies, those who transmit it in the world – and Allah’s refuge is sought- whilst not pondering and ascertaining, and not looking into the reality.

Indeed, the opponents of Ahlus Sunnah – amongst ahlul ahwaa (the followers of vain desires)- receive  pleasure from a share of these characteristics. Hypocrisy is feared for some of them lest these blameworthy characteristics applies to them, as well as the dispraise and punishment as a result. One of the punishments for liars is that which he, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, “Beware of lying, for indeed lying leads to wickedness and wickedness leads to the fire. And a man does not cease telling lies and endeavour to tell lies until he is written [i.e. judged] by Allah as a liar”. Rather lying can lead to major hypocrisy, Allah, The Exalted, said:

And of them are some who made a covenant with Allah (saying): “If He bestowed on us of His Bounty, we will verily, give Sadaqah (Zakat and voluntary charity in Allah’s Cause) and will be certainly among those who are righteous.” Then when He gave them of His Bounty, they became niggardly [refused to pay the Sadaqah (Zakat or voluntary charity)], and turned away, averse. So He punished them by putting hypocrisy into their hearts till the Day whereon they shall meet Him, because they broke that (covenant with Allah) which they had promised Him and because they used to tell lies. [at-Tawbah. 75-77]

Lying and breaking covenants plunged them into the sludge of hypocrisy – and Allah’s Refuge is sought, and the Messenger stated that lying is one of the signs of hypocrisy. He said, “The signs of a hypocrite are three: Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie; whenever he promises, he always breaks it (his promise), and when trusted, he proves to be treacherous”.

Among the punishments for lying is that which the noble Messenger- the possessor of the highest moral character – has related  in a long hadith: “I saw two men who came to me and said, ‘The one you saw his jaw being torn apart is a liar. He used to tell a lie until it reaches the furthest regions and it was transmitted from him until the Day of Resurrection’”. He saw that man in whose mouth was placed an iron hook and torn off until it reached his ear; then the angel turned to the other jaw and tore it apart until it reached the man’s other ear, and then it returns as it was. And he will carry on with that until the day of Resurrection, just as the Messenger related. This is from the recompense for the liars. Numerous are liars today against the callers and carriers of the Salafi Dawah. They are able to disseminate cruel rumours till they reach the world using various means made available to them in this era. They divert people from Allah’s path and seek to make it crooked in order to further their falsehoods, twaddle, and dangerous innovations in religion that destroy sound belief, sound Islamic approaches to various subjects, and virtuous manners.

Indeed, Iblees – the cursed one and may Allah curse him- is the leader of the liars. He is the first of the liars and their leader, the first deceiver and betrayer. Allah [The Exalted] said:

And O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in Paradise, and eat thereof as you both wish, but approach not this tree otherwise you both will be of the Zalimun (unjust and wrong-doers).” Then Shaitan (Satan) whispered suggestions to them both in order to uncover that which was hidden from them of their private parts (before); he said: “Your Lord did not forbid you this tree save you should become angels or become of the immortals.” And he [Shaitan (Satan)] swore by Allah to them both (saying): “Verily, I am one of the sincere well-wishers for you both.” So he misled them with deception. Then when they tasted of the tree, that which was hidden from them of their shame (private parts) became manifest to them and they began to stick together the leaves of Paradise over themselves (in order to cover their shame). And their Lord called out to them (saying): “Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you: Verily, Shaitan (Satan) is an open enemy unto you?” [Al-A’raf. 19-22]

Look at the wicked one! He said to them, “Your Lord did not forbid you from this tree save you should become angels – out of fear that you might become angles or immortals”. He swore by Allah to them and Adam did not perceive that anyone would swear by Allah out of lying, thus he believed him and was deceived. He misled them. Allah, The Exalted, said:

And (remember) when We said to the angels: “Prostrate yourselves to Adam.” They prostrated (all) except Iblis (Satan), who refused. Then We said: “O Adam! Verily, this is an enemy to you and to your wife. So let him not get you both out of Paradise, so that you be distressed in misery. Verily, you have (a promise from Us) that you will never be hungry therein nor naked. And you (will) suffer not from thirst therein nor from the sun’s heat. Then Shaitan (Satan) whispered to him, saying : “O Adam! Shall I lead you to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that will never waste away?” Then they both ate of the tree, and so their private parts appeared to them, and they began to stick on themselves the leaves from Paradise for their covering. Thus did Adam disobey his Lord, so he went astray. Then his Lord chose him, and turned to him with forgiveness, and gave him guidance. [Taa Haa. 116-122]

Look at how he deceived them, fabricated and lied to them, and said to them through the path of the sincere advisers:  [هَلۡ أَدُلُّكَ عَلَىٰ شَجَرَةِ ٱلۡخُلۡدِ وَمُلۡكٍ۬ لَّا يَبۡلَىٰ  – O Adam! Shall I lead you to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that will never waste away?] He deceived them with this, so they ate from the tree and the outcome was that which Allah related that their private parts became apparent to them. So, out of shyness, [وَطَفِقَا يَخۡصِفَانِ عَلَيۡہِمَا مِن وَرَقِ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ‌ۚ   – they began to stick on themselves the leaves from Paradise for their covering]. Thus did Adam disobey his Lord, so he went astray. Then his Lord chose him, and turned to him with forgiveness, and gave him guidance. Thus is Allah’s Mercy for His friends; but Allah’s wrath, anger and curse has been ascertained against Iblees until the Day of Judgment, and he will be in Hell as the leader of those who will dwell in there forever.

Indeed, the followers of shaytan are the enemies of the truth in every era and place, and the enemies of the Messengers. Lying and slander is one of their greatest means (utilised) in their opposition to the Messengers and the mighty truth they brought, together with mighty and amazing signs. This is the path of every innovator in religious matters and a falsifier- he opposes the truth and its adherents through lies and slander; slandering the people of truth together with beautification of falsehood and adorning it for his followers, nullify their intellects and personalities. This adorned speech is through which falsehood is adopted from their leader Iblees – the cursed one, and from the followers of Fir’awn and the senior followers of Iblees, such as Fir’awn- the cursed one and may Allah deprived him of every good. He has many peers in this affair. Allah made known the lying and wickedness of this cursed one:

Has there come to you the story of Musa? When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa; go to Fir’aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). And say to him: “Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)”; and that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? Then [Moosaa] showed him the great sign (miracles). But [Fir’aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed. Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, saying: “I am your lord, most high”, So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: “I am your lord, most high”)] and first [(i.e. his saying, “O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I” (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah.

The enemy of Allah lied and said, “I am your Lord, most high”. Which lied can be more ugly than this wicked lie?! So Allah seized him for his lie, denial and disbelief, and made that an instructive admonition for those who fear Allah – those who give thought.

Among his lies was his statement to the magicians – when they believed after being defeated and subjugated through Allah’s amazing signs:

[Fir’aun (Pharaoh)] said: “Believe you in him [Musa (Moses)] before I give you permission? Verily! He is your chief who taught you magic. So I will surely cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you on the trunks of date-palms, and you shall surely know which of us [I (Fir’aun – Pharaoh) or the Lord of Musa (Moses) (Allah)] can give the severe and more lasting torment.” They said: “We prefer you not over the clear signs that have come to us, and to Him (Allah) Who created us. So decree whatever you desire to decree, for you can only decree (regarding) this life of the world. “Verily! We have believed in our Lord, that He may forgive us our faults, and the magic to which you did compel us. And Allah is better as regards reward in comparison to your [Fir’aun’s (Pharaoh)] reward, and more lasting (as regards punishment in comparison to your punishment).” [Taa Haa. 71-73]

Look at this wicked slanderer! He said to them when they believed and submitted: [ءَامَنتُمۡ لَهُ ۥ قَبۡلَ أَنۡ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمۡ -Believe you in him [Musa (Moses)] before I give you permission?]; then he invented this mighty slander:  [إِنَّهُ ۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحۡرَ‌ۖ  – Verily! He is your chief who taught you magic]- meaning, Musa, peace be upon him, when he brought those amazing signs.

The enemies of the Messengers did not confront them except with lies, falsely accused them of insanity, sorcery and what is similar to that. All this was from their lies and falsehoods, may Allah deprive them of every good. Many of Ahlul Ahwaa (the followers of vain desires) and Ahl Ad-Dalal (the people of misguidance) follow them in this manner by slandering the people of truth. Amongst the liars whom Allaah humiliated and made known their lies in the Qur’an are the Yahud, the Nasaaraa and the Mushrikoon in every religion and era, and amongst them were the pagan Arabs and their lies in matters of creed. Allah exposed them in various verses. Allah [تبارك وتعالى ] said: [وَيُنذِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُواْ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَدً۬ا – And to warn those who say, “Allah has begotten a son (or offspring or children)]. [Al-Kahf. 4]

This includes the Yahud, the Nasaaraa, the Hindus, the Buddhists and the pagan Arabs. Allah said:

And to warn those (Jews, Christians, and pagans) who say, “Allah has begotten a son (or offspring or children).” No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. Mighty is the word that comes out of their mouths [i.e. He begot (took) sons and daughters]. They utter nothing but a lie. [Al-Kahf. 4-5] – Meaning, attributing a son to Allah, which is nothing else but a mighty lie against. Thus, Allah humiliated them and made known their lie and slander. Allah said:

[And they say: “The Most Beneficent (Allah) has begotten a son (or offspring or children) [as the Jews say: ‘Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allah, and the Christians say that He has begotten a son [‘Iesa (Christ)], and the pagan Arabs say that He has begotten daughters (angels, etc.)].” Indeed you have brought forth (said) a terrible evil thing]. Meaning, a horrible thing [i.e. to attribute a son to Allah].

Whereby the heavens are almost torn, and the earth is split asunder, and the mountains fall in ruins; that they ascribe a son (or offspring or children) to the Most Beneficent (Allah). But it is not suitable for (the Majesty of) the Most Beneficent (Allah) that He should beget a son (or offspring or children). here is none in the heavens and the earth but comes unto the Most Beneficent (Allah) as a slave. Verily, He knows each one of them, and has counted them a full counting. And everyone of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection (without any helper, or protector or defender). [Maryam. 90-95]

Allah made clear the danger of this lie and that the universe almost split asunder and cease to exist, and that the mountains almost fall in ruins due to this mighty slander which they fabricated about Allah. Allah freed himself from all imperfections, deficiencies, co-equals and partners with regards to this slander by way of which He was slandered by the Yahud, the Nasaaraa, the pagan Arabs and other than them amongst those who attributed a child to Him, whether Isa, peace be upon him, Uzayr, peace be upon him, the angels and others whom they attributed to Allah as His offspring based on lies and false testimony.

Allah said:

And the Jews (a sect among them) say: “Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allah”, and the Christians say: “Messiah is the son of Allah”. That is a saying from their mouths. – meaning, lies. [يُضَـٰهِـُٔونَ قَوۡلَ ٱلَّذِينَ ڪَفَرُواْ مِن قَبۡلُ‌ۚ قَـٰتَلَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ‌ۚ أَنَّىٰ يُؤۡفَڪُونَ – They imitate the saying of the disbelievers of old. Allah’s Curse be on them, how they are deluded away from the truth!] [at-Tawbah. 30]

They took this belief – and Allah knows best – from the Hindus who preceded them in this horrendous disbelief and lies about Allah. All these people carry mighty lies – which cannot be enumerated here – related to matters of the Shariah and in declaring what is lawful and unlawful, such as what Allah has stated regarding the pagan Arabs, who made judgements about the Bahirah [a she-camel whose milk was spared for the idols and that nobody was allowed to milk it] or a Sa’ibah [a she-camel let loose for free pasture for their false gods and that nothing was allowed to be carried on it], or a Wasilah [a she-camel set free for idols because it has given birth to a she-camel at its first delivery and then again gives birth to a she-camel at its second delivery].

Allah stated when declaring this a lie:

Allah has not instituted things like Bahirah (a she-camel whose milk was spared for the idols and nobody was allowed to milk it) or a Sa’ibah (a she-camel let loose for free pasture for their false gods, e.g. idols, etc., and nothing was allowed to be carried on it), or a Wasilah (a she-camel set free for idols because it has given birth to a she-camel at its first delivery and then again gives birth to a she-camel at its second delivery) or a Ham (a stallion-camel freed from work for their idols, after it had finished a number of copulations assigned for it, all these animals were liberated in honour of idols as practised by pagan Arabs in the pre-Islamic period). But those who disbelieve invent lies against Allah, and most of them have no understanding]. [Al-Ma’idah. 103]

By Allah, they are liars and foolish people who are deprived of sound intellect. Allah said:

So eat of the lawful and good food which Allah has provided for you. And be grateful for the Graces of Allah, if it is He Whom you worship. He has forbidden you only Al-Maytatah (meat of a dead animal), blood, the flesh of swine, and any animal which is slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than Allah (or has been slaughtered for idols etc. or on which Allah’s Name has not been mentioned while slaughtering). But if one is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, and not transgressing, then, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.  And say not concerning that which your tongues put forth falsely: “This is lawful and this is forbidden,” so as to invent lies against Allah. Verily, those who invent lies against Allah will never prosper. A passing brief enjoyment (will be theirs), but they will have a painful torment. [An-Nahl. 114-117]

This was an address to the Arabs who instituted things like Bahirah or a Sa’ibah, and due to this Allah declared this matter of theirs a lie. Allah made it known that what they declared unlawful or lawful is tantamount to lies invented about Allah, that the liars will not be successful, their enjoyment through lies and slanders is a brief enjoyment and an eternal punishment awaits them – a painful punishment.

Allah stated about the Yahud and Nasaaraa:

Then woe to those who write the Book with their own hands and then say, “This is from Allah,” to purchase with it a little price! Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for that they earn thereby]. [Al-Baqarah. 79]

Among the categories of liars are the Munaafiqoon and they are more dangerous for the society, especially the Islamic society. Due to this Allah spoke about them a lot, warned against them a lot and made known their characteristics in chapters of the Qur’an; rather there is an independent chapter of the Qur’an called Surah Al-Munaafiqoon. Allah exposed them, unveil their shame, hypocrisy and lies. And from that which Allah stated about them is: [وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يَقُولُ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَبِٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأَخِرِ وَمَا هُم بِمُؤۡمِنِينَ – And of mankind, there are some (hypocrites) who say: “We believe in Allah and the Last Day” while in fact they believe not] – Meaning, they are liars.

They (think to) deceive Allah and those who believe, while they only deceive themselves, and perceive (it) not!  In their hearts is a disease (of doubt and hypocrisy) and Allah has increased their disease. A painful torment is theirs because they used to tell lies. And when it is said to them: “Make not mischief on the earth,” they say: “We are only peacemakers.”

Look at this big claim! They are the ones who make mischief, but they perceive not]. Every liar and corrupt person in the earth does not tell the people that he is a corrupt person; rather he says, “I am one who rectifies the affairs” and claims that he leads the Ummah to righteousness. In summary, indeed Allaah made known their lies and deception, and that this lie increases them in sickness – and Allah’s Refuge is sought, they are from the people of hypocrisy and they are increased in hypocrisy.

Allah said: [أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ تَوَلَّوۡاْ قَوۡمًا غَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡہِم مَّا هُم مِّنكُمۡ وَلَا مِنۡہُمۡ وَيَحۡلِفُونَ عَلَى ٱلۡكَذِبِ وَهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُونَ  – Have you (O Muhammad) not seen those (hypocrites) who take for friends a people upon whom is the Wrath of Allah (i.e. Jews)? They are neither of you (Muslims) nor of them (Jews), and they swear to a lie while they know. [Al-Mujaadilah. 14]

They made an oath to the believers that they are indeed believers, whilst they are Munaafiqoon, liars and allies of the Yahud. [ أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمۡ عَذَابً۬ا شَدِيدًا‌ۖ إِنَّهُمۡ سَآءَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ – Allah has prepared for them a severe torment. Evil indeed is that which they used to do]. [ٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ أَيۡمَـٰنَہُمۡ جُنَّةً۬  – They have made their oaths a screen] – Meaning, for their lies.

Thus they hinder (men) from the Path of Allah, so they shall have a humiliating torment. Their children and their wealth will avail them nothing against Allah. They will be (the) dwellers of the Fire, to dwell therein forever. On the Day when Allah will resurrect them all together (for their account), then they will swear to Him as they swear to you (O Muslims). And they think that they have something (to stand upon). Verily, they are liars! Shaitan (Satan) has overtaken them. So he has made them forget the remembrance of Allah. They are the party of Shaitan (Satan). Verily, it is the party of Shaitan (Satan) that will be the losers! Those who oppose Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad), they will be among the lowest (most humiliated). Allah has decreed: “Verily! It is I and My Messengers who shall be the victorious.” Verily, Allah is All-Powerful, All-Mighty. [al-Mujaadilah. 15-21]

Allah made known the state of affairs of these people, exposed them, made it known that they are liars and described their actions to be evil. And due to their state of loss, they took these oaths and swearing by Allaah as a screen.. ..Allah said:

When the hypocrites come to you (O Muhammad), they say: “We bear witness that you are indeed the Messenger of Allah.” Allah knows that you are indeed His Messenger and Allah bears witness that the hypocrites are liars indeed. They have made their oaths a screen (for their hypocrisy). Thus they hinder (men) from the Path of Allah. Verily, evil is what they used to do. That is because they believed, then disbelieved, therefore their hearts are sealed, so they understand not. And when you look at them, their bodies please you; and when they speak, you listen to their words. They are as blocks of wood propped up. They think that every cry is against them. They are the enemies, so beware of them. May Allah curse them! How are they denying (or deviating from) the Right Path. And when it is said to them: “Come, so that the Messenger of Allah may ask forgiveness from Allah for you”, they turn aside their heads, and you would see them turning away their faces in pride. It is equal to them whether you (Muhammad) ask forgiveness or ask not forgiveness for them. Verily, Allah guides not the people who are the Fasiqin (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). [Al-Munaafiqoon. 1-6]

Allah testified that they are liars; even if they testified to the Messengership of Muhammad and that Allah alone has the right to be worshipped, they are still liars and do not believe in that. Allah exposed them, because He knows their reality- the disbelief and hypocrisy they hide in their hearts. Allah made it known that they disbelieved and believed thereafter, then they disbelieved finally; and Allah made it known that they do not understand and that even if Allah’s Messenger – the most virtuous amongst the creation – sought forgiveness for them, they will not be forgiven and Allah will not guide them to Iman and the truth due to their [willful] wickedness and evil. And there maybe hypocrites in the Ummah who have these characteristics and thus receive this recompense from Allah. Unfortunately, some people think that hypocrisy has ended, whilst in reality it is something that will continue. Hudhaifah said, “The hypocrites at present are more evil than the hypocrites during the era of Allah’s Messenger”, so he was asked about this, then he said, “Indeed, the hypocrites used to hide their hypocrisy and these people at present make it manifest”. Whenever time elapses, they become many amongst the groups of ahlul bidah, and burden Islam and the Muslims with their evil, plots and hypocrisy; and all of that is done under the guise of Islam and in the name of Islam. Many of ahlul bidah or many innovations – in the past and thereafter – related to belief and affairs of shirk are from their plots and cunning ways. So, let the Muslims be careful of these hypocrites and infiltrators within the innovated groups.

Among the liars – whose affair has been unveiled by Islam in the Qur’an and the Sunnah – are the soothsayers, fortune tellers and magicians. They are from the most evil liars. Allah said:

Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person. Who gives ear (to the devils and they pour what they may have heard of the unseen from the angels), and most of them are liars. As for the poets, the erring follow them; see you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? And that they say what they do not do. Except those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, and remember Allah much, and reply back (in poetry) to the unjust poetry (which the pagan poets utter against the Muslims). And those who do wrong will come to know by what overturning they will be overturned. [Ash-Shu’araa. 221-227]

Allah made it known that the devils descend on these types of liars, even the poets amongst them; except those who believe, perform righteous deeds and reply back (in poetry) to the unjust poetry (which the pagan poets utter against the Muslims).

The Messenger said, “Whoever goes to a fortune teller or soothsayer and believes in what he says has disbelieved in what has been revealed to Muhammad”. [Sahih al-Jami. Number 5015]

It has been reported in an authentic narrations that the devils eavesdrop in the [first] heavens and then inform the magician or the soothsayer, then they add a hundred lies to it; so the ignorant wrong doer believes them whilst being aware of the recompense for the one who believes them. If this is the ruling against the one who believes them, then how about the one who is immersed in the sludge of soothsaying, magic and fortune telling? Therefore, the Muslims should also be cautious of these evil category of people and from their most distinct characteristics is lying. Allah and Messenger testified that indeed they are liars and made known their attachment to the devils. [Footnote b]

Among the different types of liars are the Dajaajilah (those whose lies are accompanied with deception, beatification of the lies and tricks to convince the people), whom the Prophet spoke about, and reality testifies to the truthfulness of that which this noble Messenger stated, because he never speaks out of his own desire. He said: “The hour will not be established until two big groups fight each other whereupon there will be a great number of casualties on both sides and they will be following one and the same religious doctrine, and until about thirty Dajjaals and liars appear, and each one of them will claim that he is Allah’s Messenger, and until sound religious knowledge is taken away [i.e. due to death of rightly guided scholars], earthquakes will increase in number and time will pass quickly”. [Sahih Al-Bukhari]  The testimony in this hadith is the statement of the Messenger, “Until about thirty Dajjaals and liars appear, and each one of them will claim that he is Allah’s Messenger”. The Messenger said, “During the close approach of the hour there will be liars, so beware of them”.

Unfortunately, many people do not take this Prophetic advice in order to be cautious of the liars. There is a long hadith narrated by Thawbaan from Allah’s Messenger, who said, “What I fear for you the most is the leaders of misguidance” until he said, “Indeed, there will be thirty liars in my Ummah and each of them will claim that he is a Prophet, but I am the seal of the Prophets and there no Prophet after me”.

The greatest trial will be that of the greatest Dajjaaj whom all the Prophets warned against, and the one who warned against him the most was our Prophet. The narrations regarding this are Mutawaatir and its affair is well-known amongst the Muslims, but despite this, Allah’s Messenger stated that there is one more dangerous for the Ummah than Dajjaaj. Sam’aan said, “Allah’s Messenger mentioned Dajjal one morning as something despised, but also alarming, until we thought that he was in the stand of date-palm trees. When we came to Allah’s Messenger in the evening, he saw that (fear) in us, and said, ‘What is the matter with you?’ We said, ‘O Messenger of Allah! You mentioned Dajjaal this morning, and you spoke of him as something despised but also alarming, until we thought that he was in the stand of date-palm trees’. He said, ‘There are things that I fear more for you than the Dajjaal. If he appears while I am among you, I will contend with him on your behalf, and if he appears when I am not among you, then each man must fend for himself, and Allah will take care of every Muslim on my behalf’”. [Sahih Muslim 2933]

Among these Dajjaals – liars – whom Allah’s Messenger warned against was Musaylimah, the Liar at Yamaamah and Al-Aswad Al-Unsee who claimed prophethood, and as a result many Arabs exited Islam. Allah destroyed them and others were destroyed, and their trial was ended by way of the swords of the companions of Allah’s Messenger. Among the liars who claimed prophethood was Mukhtar Bin Abee Ubayd Ath-Thaqafee, the liar about whom the Messenger stated, “A liar will appear from Thaqeef a blood shedder”. [Sahih Muslim 2545] The liar was Al-Mukhtaar and the blood shedder was al-Hajjaaj. And from those who claimed prophethood was Al-Haarith the liar, and Ghulaam Ahmad Al-Qadiyaanee Al-Hindee who had followers dispersed in the world and they claim that Prophethood is still ongoing. Every liar has other wicked liars connected to him – those similar to their Shaikh. And from these liars in general was the Yahudi, the wicked Abdullah Ibn Saba, who falsely claimed to be Muslim and incited many of the rabble against the Rightly Guided Khaleefah Uthmaan Bin Affaan until he was martyred in that trial. He is the founder of the doctrine of the Rafida Shiites and its filthy principles, and exaggeration the status of the Prophet’s family until they deified them. Many of them declare Ali an object of worship and many of them say that Ali is the one whom the Prophet gave the authority of rulership after him, and that Ali will return to do such and such, meaning, he will kill AbuBakr, Umar and five-hundred Khulafaa of Banee Umayyyah and Banee Abbaas. This wicked one [i.e. Ibn Saba] initiated the act of revilement against the companions of the Prophet and other matters related to the trial he initiated which the heretics promote and are firmly established upon, as well as the figureheads of the Rafida- the liars. Thus, they fill the world with lies and slanders. Their religion is established on lies and misguidance.

And among those Dajjaals – liars – are the figureheads of bidah and misguidance, such as Jahm Bin Safwaan, the figureheads of the Khawaarij, the Mutazilah, the Huloolee Soofees and grave worshippers, such as Nidhaam Al-Mutazilee, Hallaaj the heretic, Ibn Arabi the heretic, Ibn Sab’een, At-Tilimsaanee and other than them amongst the heretics – liars who hid within Islam, infiltrators within the ranks of the people of Tasawwuf, because the people of Tasawwuf  were a fertile ground for these types of people amongst the heretics, just as the Raafida are a spacious room for the heretics. [Footnote c]

Among the liars in this era are the figureheads of the political groups, such as the secularists and Baathists (Arab Nationalists), and many of the people who carry alluring slogans in the name of Islam, such as Islamic socialism, Islamic democracy, the call to unity of religions and many other misguided claims made in the name of Islam. [Footnote d]

This takes place amongst groups who claim that they are seeking to raise Islam very high and that they are established to return the Islamic Ummah to its past glory; however they increase the people in misguidance and darkness, and Allah’s Refuge is sought. This poses a more severe danger to the people and the youth, therefore it is obligated on the Muslims and the students of knowledge to be extremely cautious of all these types of people, warn the Muslims against their plots and plans, and unveil their secrets. And the Muslims should adhere firmly to the Book of their Lord and the Sunnah of their Prophet; follow the pious predecessors in their creed, methodology, loyalty and disassociation, and to deal with this dangerous category of people about whom the Messenger feared for his Ummah – warn them against these groups and make it known that he feared for them regarding these people more than he feared for them regarding Dajjaal, so that they deal with them in the manner that the pious predecessors dealt with them-  by being cautious, warning against them, unveiling their hidden affairs (i.e. misguidance) and making known the defects within them in order to protect the religion and as a means of sincere advice to the Muslims.

With regards to the conflict between the adherents to truth and the adherents to falsehood in every era and place, the truth must reach its goal which Allah has promised -that the religion He has ordained will supersede, the adherents to truth will be given the upper hand over the adherents to falsehood and it is a must that falsehood and its adherents will be defeated and end in failure. Therefore, it is obligated to the adherents to truth – pure Ahlus Sunnah – to be upon steadfastness and resilience, embark upon hard work with everything by way of which they are able to aid the religion ordained by Allah in creed, commands, prohibitions, rulings and methodology; and that they give it the upper hand against falsehood in all its forms and images, whether it is disbelief or hypocrisy coated with Islam, a manifest bidah or a bidah coated with Islam. Allah said:

[ هو الذي أرسل رسوله بالهدى ودين الحق ليظهره على الدين كله ولو كره المشركون – It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam), to make it superior over all religions even though the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) hate (it)]. [at-Tawbah. 33]

Ahlul Ahwaa share this hatred with them, therefore, there’s nothing else except that the adherents to truth employ the legislated means to actualise this promise and matter that is incumbent upon the scholars of Ahlus Sunnah. Wherever the adherents to the Salafi methodology and its students are or wherever they go, it is obligated to them to step up and aid one another to raise the word of truth, Tawheed and Sunnah, and to subdue innovation in religious matters, misguidance and doubts; establish Allah’s proofs against all the various misguided people, make known the reality of the liars and the fakers. They have to know that the opponents against the truth have reached the highest level of plotting and planning, and from this is their preoccupation with the task of silencing many amongst Ahlus Sunnah and the adherents to truth, and restraining them from confronting the falsehood that is covered in the garb of truth. This category of people amongst the adherents to falsehood are more intense in employing lies, duplicity and pretending to possess that which they do not possess; so they are just as the Messenger stated, “The one who pretends that he has been given what he has not been given, is just like the (false) one who wears two garments of falsehood”.

We find them as ones who praise the people of falsehood the most and making their affair to appear pleasing, whilst they are the most severe in speaking ill against the adherents to the truth and its callers. Indeed, they have set up corrupt principles to aid falsehood and the adherents to misguided methodologies; waging war against the adherents to truth by devising plots and repugnant affairs, manifesting their hatred and enmity against the adherents to truth and hastening-  without boredom and tiredness – to instruct the youth to oppose the people of truth, striving hard to aid falsehood and topple the adherents to truth. We ask Allah  to raise His Word and guide these people or relieve the Ummah of their Indeed, our Lord is One who hears invocation. And may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon our Sayyid Muhammad, his family and companions until the day of judgement.

Footnote a: “Verily, the worst act of usury is to attack the reputation of a Muslim”. Meaning, the greater in evil and the more severely prohibited is to unleash the tongue against the honour of a Muslim by belittling him, behaving arrogantly towards him and speaking ill against him by way of slander or verbal abuse. This becomes more severe in prohibition because honour is more noble than one’s self and wealth.

“Without a just cause”. Meaning, this shows that there are cases where one is allowed to speak about someone, saying, such and such is an oppressor or transgressor, or making a mention of an innovator and an open sinner with the intention to issue warning. At-Teebee, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: Honour enters into the types of wealth from the angle of emphasis. Usury is categorised into the two types: customary and it is what is taken as an addition from debtors, and the one that is not customary, such as a person attacking the honour of someone with his tongue. [An Excerpt from ‘Awnul Mabood Sharh Sunan Abee Daawud’ 13/152]

This (i.e. violating the honour of a Muslim) has been referred to as usury because the transgressor safeguards his honour and then goes beyond it, thus it is as if he has added an increase that encroaches the boundaries in connection with the honour of a Muslim which is more valuable than his wealth. Al-Qadi, may Allah have mercy upon him, said, “Attacking a Muslim’s honour is to deal with him more than what he deserves of that which is to be said about him, or more than what is allowed to say about him. This is why it is likened to usury and considered one of its types”. [An Excerpt from ‘Mirqaatul Mafaateeh Sharh Mishkaat Al-Masaabeeh’ 8/3157]
