Haunted By Three Things If You Perpetrated Them!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

It used to be said that whoever perpetrates these three acts  will be haunted by them:

[1] Rebellion against Allaah’s commandments.

Allaah [The Most High] said:

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا بَغْيُكُمْ عَلَىٰ أَنْفُسِكُمْ

O mankind! Your rebellion (disobedience to Allah) is only against your ownselves.

[Soorah Yoonus: Ayah: 23]

[2] Evil plotting.

Allaah [The Most High] said:

وَلَا يَحِيقُ الْمَكْرُ السَّيِّئُ إِلَّا بِأَهْلِهِ

But the evil plot encompasses only him who makes it.

[Soorah Faatir: Ayah: 43]

[3] Breaking pledges.

Allaah [The Most High] said:

فَمَنْ نَكَثَ فَإِنَّمَا يَنْكُثُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ

Then whosoever breaks his pledge only breaks it to his own harm.

[Soorah Al-Fath: Ayah: 10]

Thieves – [Four Types]

 The difference between

السارق المنتهب المختلس الغاصب

Shaikh Uthaymeen [rahimahullaah] said:

[1] As-Saariq: He does not make himself apparent–neither in the beginning of the affair [i.e. the theft] nor in the end.

[2] Al-Muntahibu: He makes himself apparent in the beginning and at the end [of the theft] but he does not take anything by overpowering [the victim]; rather he snatches.

[3] Al-Mukhtalis: He is like the Al-Muntahibu, except that he hides himself in the beginning of the affair [i.e.the theft].

[4] Al-Ghaasib: He is like the Al-Muntahibu, except that he takes away something by overpowering [the victim].

Salaf Fled From ahlul bidah, But You Miskeen- [Very Needy in Your Understanding, Firmness etc] – Sit With Them!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allaah [The Most High] said:

[وَلَا تَرۡكَنُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ فَتَمَسَّكُمُ ٱلنَّارُ -And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you]. [Surah Hud: Ayah 113]

The word [ظلم –wrong] in [this ayah] can [mean] disbelief; it can mean bidah and it can be [فسوق  i.e. sinful, immoral behaviour], because (ظلم) can be applicable to all [i.e. in different contexts]. Therefore, we refrain from inclining towards the evil doers, the people of bidah, the Kuffaar, the Ilmaaniyyoon and other than them. And we protect ourselves, our Aqeedah, the Eemaan and sound religion which Allaah has bestowed on us.

It is enough for us to remember that the Salaf fled from Fitan – not mixing, sitting and debating with the people of Fitan. And even amongst them, such as the likes of Ayyoub As-Sakhtiyaanee and Ibn Seereen did not listen to the speech of those [people of bidah]. And when Ibn Seereen was asked,  “Why do you not speak; why do you not listen to them?” He said, “Indeed, my heart is not in my hands! I am not in control of my heart; I fear for myself that I may be misguided”. So the likes of these Imaams feared fitna and deviation for themselves; but you the Miskeen possess that bravery to enable you to challenge ahlul bidah….!!! Many people say, “We sit with ahlul ahwaa [i.e. the people of desires] and we take [from them]; we distinguish between truth and falsehood; we take what is truth and abandon falsehood”, whilst he [i.e. the utterer of this speech] is a Miskeen who can neither distinguish between truth and falsehood nor is he in control of his heart. How many a young person has been put to trial through this satanic view and thus he [becomes] degraded, reverts back on his heels [into misguidance] and depraved, and Allaah’s Aid is sought. He falls prey in the arena of the people of fitan! Therefore, it is obligated on a student of knowledge not to [regard] himself safe from ahlul bidah, for indeed he is not more knowledgeable than Ayyoub and Ibn Seereen, nor can he reach their station [in knowledge, piety etc] and those who followed them.

Parents Are Not Obeyed When They Are Wrong, But They Can Never Be Disrespected!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

The questioner asks: Indeed he [i.e. this person] had a disagreement with his father about some wealth and this led him to hate his father, shouted at him and refused to sit with him; so is he sinful for boycotting his father, who is now very old and ill?

Answer: What this son has done to his father is Uqooq [i.e. he’s being undutiful to parents] and it is a major sin, and we seek Allaah’s protection from it. This son [exposes] himself to a great danger and it is obligated on him to repent to Allaah. He should return to his father and make him happy, seek his pardon, seek to please him and honour him. Allaah [The Most High] said: [ وَاعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا ۖ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا – Worship Allah and join none with Him in worship, and do good to parents] [4:36]

And Allaah (Glorified be He and free is He from all imperfections) said: [وَإِن جَاهَدَاكَ عَلَىٰ أَن تُشْرِكَ بِي مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ فَلَا تُطِعْهُمَا ۖ وَصَاحِبْهُمَا فِي الدُّنْيَا مَعْرُوفًا – But if they (both) strive with you to make you join in worship with Me others that of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not, but behave with them in the world kindl] [31:15] Good behaviour towards parents is required of a person towards his non-Muslim parents, then how about if a person’s parent is a Muslim!

They Exalted Worldly Possessions And Status Until That Led Them to Question Allaah Regarding Who Should Be Sent As a Messenger!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imaam Muhammad Bin Abdul Wahhaab [rahimahullaah] stated in Masaa-ilil Jaahiliyyah: [The Worldly Life Was Exalted In Their Hearts, as Allaah [The Exalted] Said [that They Said]: [ لَوۡلَا نُزِّلَ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ۬ مِّنَ ٱلۡقَرۡيَتَيۡنِ عَظِيمٍ – Why is not this Qur’aan sent down to some great man of the two towns]. [Surah Az-Zukhruf, Aayah 31]

Commentary:

One of the traits of the [people] of Al-Jaahiliyyah [i.e. the people who lived during the Pre-Islamic Era of Ignorance] was that the worldly life was exalted in their hearts; so, they regarded the one who possessed [the things of the worldly life] to be honourable and the one who was not in possession of the [things of the worldly life] to be of lowly [status] and despised. And even in the affair of Risaalah [Messengership], which is Allaah’s [absolute choice to choose the one He decides to send as a Messenger], they saw that it should be given to the rich people and not the poor people.  And they said, “Allaah found [none], except an orphan of Abu Taalib to send [as a Messenger]? They were referring to Muhammad [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam]. [   لَوۡلَا نُزِّلَ هَـٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ۬ مِّنَ ٱلۡقَرۡيَتَيۡنِ عَظِيمٍ – And they say: “Why is not this Qur’aan sent down to some great man of the two towns]. [Surah Az-Zukhruf. Aayah 31]. The two towns are Makkah and Madina; and that [great man] in Makkah is Waleed Bin Mugheerah or Habeeb Bin Amr Ath-thaqafee; and it is said that the great man in Taa’if is Urwa Bin Mas’ood.

The people of Al-Jaahiliyyah [i.e. the people who lived during the Pre-Islamic Era of Ignorance] said, “If the message was given to one of those two great men, it would have been befitting to be [regarded] a message, but it does not befit them to think that it is given to a poor orphan [i.e. Muhammad-sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam]. Allaah [The Exalted] said [in response to them]: [ أَهُمۡ يَقۡسِمُونَ رَحۡمَتَ رَبِّكَ‌ۚ – Is it they who would portion out the mercy of your Lord] [Surah Az-Zukhruf. Aayah 32] – Meaning: They interfered in Allaah’s [choice, decrees, decisions etc]. They wanted to portion out Allaah’s Mercy and did not testify to what Allaah portioned out [of His Mercy], even though [ٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ حَيۡثُ يَجۡعَلُ رِسَالَتَهُ – Allaah knows best with whom to place his message] [Surah Al-An’aam. Aayah 24]

The Danger of Deliberately Supporting The People of Error – [A Warning By Imaam Al-Barbahaaree]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imaam Barbahaaree [rahimahullaah] said, “He who loves the deeds of a people, good or bad, is just like the one who commits them”.

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan- may Allaah preserve him- commented on the above statement of Imaam Al-Barbahaaree [rahimahullaah] as follows: He who loves the deeds of a people is just like one who commits them; so if those (deeds) are good he gets a reward similar to theirs, and if those (deeds) are bad he bears the burden and sin similar to theirs. We seek Allaah’s refuge from that!

And due to this, it has been reported concerning the one that wishes to be like the scholar who teaches the people good, that he will get a reward similar to that of (that Scholar). And the one that wishes to be like the rich person who spends his wealth in the path of Allah, (then) he will receive a reward similar to that of (that rich person) in accordance with his intention.

Likewise, the opposite of this is (with regards) to the one who wishes to be like the criminal and the people of sin, (and) wishes to be their partners in sin or give support to their views and hold it to be true, (then) he is like them even if he did not commit an act similar to theirs, (but) solely (due to the fact that) he held their views to be correct and took their side. A Warning Against Covetousness!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Ibn Abbaas [radiyallaahu-anhumaa] said, “I heard the Messenger of Allaah [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] say, ‘If the son of Aadam had a valley filled with wealth, he would love to have [another one] similar to it. Nothing can suffice the son of Aadam’s soul except dust. And Allaah forgives the one who repents’”. [Saheeh Muslim- Hadeeth number 1049]

Few Reminders Related to The Above Hadeeth

  • The son of Aadam does not cease being eager for the Dunyah until death and thus his mouth is filled with the dust in his grave.
  • Allaah accepts the repentance of a person who repents from that blameworthy eagerness for the Dunyah [worldly possessions].
  • This hadeeth censures blameworthy eagerness for the Dunyah, the [blameworthy] love of gathering worldly things and being desirous of them.

Be Warned Against Commending The People Who Hold Deviated Views!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Imaam Al-Barbahaaree [rahimahullaah] said: ”If you see a man speaking well of Ibn Abee Du’aad, Al-Mareesee, Thumaamah, Abul Hudhail or Hishaam Al-Footee or any of their adherents, beware of him because he is an innovator.  These people were upon apostasy, so leave this man who spoke well of them and whomever he mentioned of them.”

‘If you see a man speaking well of Ibn Abee Du’aad, Al-Mareesee, Thumaamah, Abul Hudhail or Hishaam Al-Footee….’  Shaikh Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] commented on this statement of Imaam Al-Barbahaaree [rahimahullaah] as follows:

If you see a man commending the people of evil and the scholars of misguidance, such as these off shoots of the Jahmiyyah, then know that he is a sinful one, a corrupter and a misguided one. [That is] because he does not praise them except that he loves them and approves of their path. And if you see a man commending Ahlus Sunnah, such as the likes of Imaam Ahmad and Ibnul Mubaarak, and likewise commending the Scholars of the Taabi’een and those who came after them, then know that he is a person of goodness. [That is] because he commends not Ahlus Sunnah except that he loves the Sunnah and adheres to it.

This teaches us a lesson in [view of the fact that] some of the brothers or some of the students of knowledge commend some of the innovators or the people of desires and deviated views, whilst not examining their views and orientations.  They attack and find fault with the people of khayr [i.e. those known to be upon upright path] because they lend an ear to those who find fault with them and believe them.  This is a severe danger. If you find fault with the people of khayr – the people of knowledge and Ahlus Sunnah- and commend the people of deviated views and orientations, then this is a severe danger even if you do not sit with them.  Therefore, this is from that which we should be mindful of, which many people have fallen into at present.
