The One Who Has Fallen Into Doubts And Desires – Shaykh Rabee ibn Haadi Al-Madkhalee

Shaykh Rabee ibn Haadi Al-Madkhalee (hafidahullah) was asked:

What is your advice – Allah preserve you – to the one who has fell into the sea of desires and doubts?

My advice to him is that he repents to Allah and that he brings to mind the statement of Allah:

قُلْ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِن رَّحْمَةِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ

Say: “O ‘Ibadi (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah, verily Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. [Az-Zumar: 53]

So if you swam in the sea of disbelief for you is to exit with repentance to Allah (tabaaraka wa ta’aala), therefore upon him is to repent to Allah and return to Allah, the door of repentance is open for all of the servants (of Allah).

Question 7 from Asbaab al-Inhiraaf wa Tawjeehaat Manhajiyyah.

Severity of Seeking the Dunya with Righteous Actions – Shaykh Rabee Al-Madkhalee

Whosoever desires the life of the world and its glitter; to them We shall pay in full (the wages of) their deeds therein, and they will have no diminution therein. They are those for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter but Fire; and vain are the deeds they did therein. And of no effect is that which they used to do. (Hud: 15-16)

Shaykh Rabee ibn Haadi Al-Madkhalee (Hafidahullah) said:

Some of the Imams said: Indeed, carrying out deeds for the sake of the worldly life is greater [sin] and more dangerous than riyaa [showing off]- because a Muslim can be exposed to riyaa sometimes; as for a person whose habitual [aim] is to [receive] the worldly things and its adornments, then this is grave destruction, and Allaah’s Refuge is sought.

This is a type of shirk [related to the performance of] righteous deeds, which negates ikhlaas [sincerity]. Ibn Abbas [radiyallaahu-anhumaa] explained this as: an individual prays, fasts and stands in the night prayer, whilst desiring the worldly [gains] by way of that- desiring status. All of this is [considered to be] worldly goals; If a person intent [is to receive these worldly things] by way of his worship, then indeed he has fallen into a bottomless pit of destruction, and Allaah’s Refuge is sought.

Just as Allaah has threatened nullification of the deeds and [promised] a severe torment for the one who seeks nearness to Allaah outwardly with righteous deeds, whilst desiring the worldly things by way of that.

Therefore, take a severe warning regarding those deeds legislated by Allaah through which nearness to Allaah is sought outwardly, whilst the basis of one’s intent behind those deeds is only [to achieve] those worthless [worldly] goals – because in the Sight of Allaah the worldly life is not even equal to the weight of a mosquitoe’s wing.

Therefore, how can one make the religion a means to an end to receive these goals and lowly objectives.

Likewise, Allah says in other Aayaat -such as in Soorah Ash-Shoora-:

‎مَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ حَرۡثَ ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ نَزِدۡ لَهُ ۥ فِى حَرۡثِهِۦ‌ۖ وَمَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ حَرۡثَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا نُؤۡتِهِۦ مِنۡہَا وَمَا لَهُ ۥ فِى ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ
‎مِن نَّصِيبٍ (٢٠)

Whosoever desires (by his deeds) the reward of the Hereafter, We give him increase in his reward, and whosoever desires the reward of this world (by his deeds), We give him thereof (what is decreed for him), and he has no portion in the Hereafter. (Ash-Shoora: 20)

This Aayah applies to the disbelievers first and foremost, and it applies to the hypocrites and the people of riya [i.e. the show offs], those who do not desire from their deeds and [outward adherence to] Islam, except the worldly things and its adornments, and Allaah’s refuge is sought.

The Aayaat regarding this [affair] are many, which clarify what negates sincerity to Allaah in the Religion, [The Blessed and Most High], in Aqeedah and worship.

Reciting Faatiha during Marriage or Replacing Nikkah with it – Shaykh Al-Uthaymeen

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih Al-Uthaymeen (rahimahullah) was asked concerning the ruling of reciting Al-Faatihah during a marriage contract, it was also mentioned that it has transpired that some of the people have replaced the contract entirely, so they say “I have read Al-Fatihaah upon her” and intend by that that the marriage has taken place, he replied:

‎This is not legislated, rather it is an innovation. ‎Reciting Al-Faatihah or other than it from specific Suwar (Chapters of the Quran) are not to be recited except in places where they are legislated. If you recite it in other than its correct place -as an act of worship- then it is considered a bidah. And indeed we have seen many of the people reciting Al-Faatihah on every occasion, to the extent that we have heard those who say “Read Al-Faatihah on the deceased” and on this one and that one, and all of this is from the innovated and evil practices.

Therefore, Al-Faatihah and other than it from the Suwar are not read in any situation, or place or time except if that (reading in that situation, place or time) has been legislated based upon the Book of Allah or the Sunnah of His Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa Sallam) and if not, then it is an innovation and its perpetrator is reproached.

What Is Zuhd (Abstinence From The Worldly Life) – Abu Sulayman

Abu Sulaymaan [rahimahullaah] said:

“Abstinence from the worldly life is to abandon that which preoccupies you away from [the remembrance and obedience to] Allaah.” He (rahimahullaah) also said: “Everything that preoccupies you away from [remembrance and obedience to] Allaah- be it [your] family, wealth and children- then indeed it is misfortune.”

Those Who Forsake Ahlus Sunnah in Times of Trial, Hardship and Need–[Ahlul-Khadhlaan]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Ibn Manzoor mentions in Lisaanul-‘Arab: [والتَّخْذيل:حَمْلُ الرجل على خِذْلان صاحبه وتَثْبِيطُه عن نصْرته]:  At-Takhdheel is when a man betakes to forsaking and abandoning his comrade [friend] and holds back from helping and aiding him.

[ الخاذِلُ: ضد الناصر- Al- Khaadhil is the opposite of an-Naasir (the helper, one who aides you, supports and backs you up)]. So Al-Khadhlaan is when someone forsakes and abandons someone or something.  So Ahlul- khadhlaan are those people who forsake and abandon the truth and its people when they need them.   [So basically they are yellow bellied turncoats who run away from and leave the people of truth when they most need them]!!!  If you look at the verbal noun Takhdeel means: To incite or induce someone from abstaining from, or neglect in aiding, assisting the truth or its people; and also it means to hinder, withhold or prevent from aiding, assisting his companion.

If Allaah helps you, none can overcome you; and if He forsakes you, who is there after Him that can help you? And in Allaah (Alone) let the believers put their trust. (Surah Aali Imran 3:160)

“Ah! Woe to me! Would that I had never taken so-and-so as a friend! He indeed led me astray from the Reminder (this Qur’aan) after it had come to me. And Shaitaan (Satan) is ever a deserter to man in the hour of need.” (Surah Al-Furqan 25:28-29)

Indeed The Flesh Of The Scholars Is Poisonous – Ibn Asaakir

Ibn Asaakir [rahimahullaah] said:

Know O my brother! May Allaah grant us and you His Pleasure and make us from those who have awe and fear of Him as He should be feared. Indeed, the flesh of the scholars is poisonous and Allaah’s way of disclosing the hidden affairs of those who diminish their worth is well known.

The One Who Violates the Honour Of The Scholars, Falls Into One Of These Three- Shaykh Fawzaan

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] said:

None violates the honour of the scholars who are upon the truth, except one of three [people]: Either a hypocrite known for [his] hypocrisy, or an evil sinner who hates the scholars because they prevent him from his sinful [acts] of disobedience, or a misguided hizbi who hates the scholars because they neither agree with his hizbiyyah nor with his deviated views.
