What Can Afflict a Believer If He [Or She] Blindly Follows Some of Those Who Were Given the Scripture?

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah [The Most High] said in Surah Aal Imraan Ayah 100:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ تُطِيعُوا فَرِيقًا مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ يَرُدُّوكُمْ بَعْدَ إِيمَانِكُمْ كَافِرِينَ

O you who believe! If you obey a group of those who were given the Scripture, they would [indeed] render you disbelievers after you have believed!

Few Reminders from the Above Aayah:

That is because of their envy and hatred towards you [believers], and their extreme eagerness to turn you away from your religion, just as He (The Most High) said:

 وَدَّ كَثِيرٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ لَوْ يَرُدُّونَكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ إِيمَانِكُمْ كُفَّارًا حَسَدًا مِنْ عِنْدِ أَنْفُسِهِمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الْحَقُّ

Many of the people of the Scripture wish that if they could turn you away as disbelievers after you have believed, out of envy from their ownselves, even, after the truth (that Muhammad Peace be upon him is Allah’s Messenger) has become manifest unto them. [2:109] [Ref 1]

Az-Zujaaj [rahimahullaah] said: If you obey and blindly follow them [they would return you to disbelief] [Ref 2]

Allaah (The Most High) said:

لِّلَّهِ مُلۡكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٲتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ‌ۚ يَخۡلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ‌ۚ يَہَبُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ إِنَـٰثً۬ا وَيَهَبُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ ٱلذُّكُورَ (٤٩) أَوۡ يُزَوِّجُهُمۡ ذُكۡرَانً۬ا وَإِنَـٰثً۬ا‌ۖ وَيَجۡعَلُ مَن يَشَآءُ عَقِيمًا‌ۚ إِنَّهُ ۥ عَلِيمٌ۬ قَدِيرٌ۬

To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills. He bestows female (offspring) upon whom He wills, and bestows male (offspring) upon whom He wills. Or He bestows both males and females, and He renders barren whom He wills. Verily, He is the All-Knower and is Able to do all things. [42:49-50]

 

The Fitrah in Childhood – Few Observations by Some of the Children [in Year 4] at a Salafi School

Some of the children – [in year 4] – at a Salafi School were given Ayah 65 in Surah Al-Ankabut and asked to talk about what is mentioned in this ayah regarding the attitude of the Makkan polytheists when they were in danger, so some of them wrote:

In this ayah, Allah says they make duwa to Allah when they are in danger and when they are safe, they worship the idols. That’s not good.

When the miscreants embark on a ship and are in danger, they invoke Allah for help but when they are safe they are ungrateful and go back to their idols.

When they are in need of help upon the sea, they worship Allah because they know their idols can’t help them and when Allah gets them to land safely they worship the idols again and they are spoilt.

I showed this work to one parent whose child wrote, ”and when Allah gets them to land safely they worship the idols again and they are spoilt” so we both laughed because of the phrase ‘and they are spoilt’. We ask Allaah (The Most High) to protect the next generation of this Ummah and make them examples for mankind in every aspect of life. We ask Allah (The Most High) to make all our children the coolness of our eyes in this Dunyah and the Aakhirah, grant us and them Ikhlaas, Sidq, Thabaat and Husnul Khaatimah…Aameen.

Abu Huraira reported: I invited my mother, who was a polytheist, to Islam. I invited her one day and she said to me something about Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) which I hated. I came to Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) weeping and said: Allaah’s Messenger, I invited my mother to Islam but she did not accept (my invitation). I invited her today but she said to me something which I did not like. (Kindly) supplicate Allaah that He may set the mother of Abu Huraira right. Thereupon Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: O Allaah, set the mother of Abu Huraira on the right path. I came out quite pleased with the supplication of Allaah’s Prophet (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) and when I came near the door it was closed from within. My mother heard the noise of my footsteps and she said: Abu Huraira, just wait, and I heard the noise of falling of water. She took a bath and put on the shirt and quickly covered her head with a headdress and opened the door and then said: Abu Huraira, I bear witness to the fact that there is none worthy of worship (in truth) but Allaah and Muhammad is His bondsman and His Messenger. He (Abu Huraira) said: I went back to Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) and (this time) I was shedding the tears of joy. I said: Allaah’s Messenger, be happy, for Allaah has responded to your supplication and He has set on the right path the mother of Abu Huraira. He (the Prophet) praised Allaah, and extolled Him and uttered good words. I said: Allaah’s Messenger, supplicate to Allaah so that He may instil love of mine and that of my mother too in the believing servants and let our hearts be filled with their love, whereupon Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: O Allaah, let there be love of these servants of yours, i. e. Abu Huraira and his mother, in the hearts of the believing servants and let their hearts be filled with the love of the believing servants. (Abu Huraira said: This prayer) was so well granted by Allaah that no believer was ever born who heard of me and who saw me but did not love me. [Sahih Muslim 2491]

Using Forged Twitter Identities to Troll and Attack Students of Knowledge and The Salafi Maraakiz

لِكُلِّ قَوْمٍ وَارِث وَلِكُلِّ أَرْضٍ حَارِث وَلِكُلِّ ضَرٍّ هَالِك

“Every people have their inheritors, every earth has a cultivator and every evil has one destroyed by it.”

Indeed, using forged internet identities was a path adopted by some of those who defended Jamiat ahle Hadeeth, Suhaib Hasan, Al-Maribi and other deviants until they were exposed by Ustaadh Amjad Rafiq (may Allaah preserve him). Recently, we are witnessing the re-emergence of this path – but this time on twitter- amongst some of those who claim that they are enjoining good and forbidding evil, whilst trolling with hidden or forged twitter identities to attack Salafi students of knowledge and the Maraakiz. Therefore, we remind them of a statement of Shaikh Rabee (may Allaah preserve him) as follows:

By Allah no one hides his [real] name except a person of evil.  Astaghfirullah! Astaghfirullah! Why are you hiding your [real] name?! If you have the truth with you then announce your name, if you have falsehood with you then fear Allah! Don’t speak! A Hadeeth Regarding the Grave Danger of Passing Judgements Based On Ignorance or Desires

Buraydah narrated from his father, who narrated that the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said:

”Judges are of three types, one of whom will go to Paradise and two to Hell. A man who knows the truth and judges with it will enter paradise; a man who knows the truth but judges with the opposite of it will enter the fire, and a man who judges for the people based on ignorance will enter the fire.’’
