The Calamity of Ignorance & Its Trial – Shaykh Zayd bin Haadi

Al Allaamah Zayd bin Haadi Al Madkhalee (rahimahullah) said:

“And People are not exactly similar, the reality is that ignorance is like (different levels of) darknesses, and ignorance is from the greatest calamity and trial, especially when Allaah grants and favours you with an opportunity in your life for you to learn (Islamic knowledge), you instead spend your entire lifetime in enjoying your worldly physical existence, this is what (true and great) loss is.”

‘Awn Al Ahad As Samad Sharh Adabul Mufrad 28/1 – Shaykh Zayd Bin Haadi

The Blessing Of Eemaan

Allaah (The Most High) said:

And know that, among you there is the Messenger of Allah. If he were to obey you (i.e. follow your opinions and desires) in much of the matter, you would surely be in trouble, but Allah has endeared the Faith to you and has beautified it in your hearts, and has made disbelief, wickedness and disobedience (to Allah and His Messenger) hateful to you. These! They are the rightly guided ones, (This is) a Grace from Allah and His Favour. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. [Soorah al-Hujuraat: Ayah 7-8]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim said:

Your love for Imaan, desire for it and its beautification in your hearts is not from yourselves; rather it is Allaah who placed it in your hearts.  He is the one who made it preferable and pleasing to you; therefore do not put yourself before My Messenger-neither speak until he speaks nor act until he commands you.  The one (i.e. Allaah) who made you love Imaan is the most knowledgeable concerning what is of benefit for His slaves than yourselves.  And had it not been the Tawfeeq of Allaah upon you, your souls would not have yielded to Imaan.  Imaan would not have been (acquired) through your consultation and bestowed from yourselves, nor would you have given it precedence because your souls are unable and weak to (do that), and cannot reach it….

Follow the Evidences & Not Innovate – Shaykh Zayd Al Madkhalee

Shaykh Zayd ibn Haadi Al Madkhalee (Rahimahullah) said:

Indeed the people are commanded to follow (evidences) and they are prohibited from innovating (in the religion), since they are not allowed except to hold firm to the text and evidences from the Quraan and Sunnah, upon the understanding of the predecessors of this Ummah and those who walked upon their way step by step (exactly without any change).

And there is no allowable pathway to divert away from this to the statements of the people of innovation and misguidances and the people of opposing opinions to the correct Islamic belief and his upright and sound methodology.

What Knowledge Demands – Shaykh Zayd Al Madkhalee

Al Allaamah Shaykh Zayd bin Haadi (Rahimahullah) said:

It is not possible for knowledge to be gained except by learning. And learning must be undertaken and carried out with hard work (effort and seriousness) and diligence (careful and persistent effort), and it does not have an end point, up until a person departs from the life where he acts (The worldly life) to the life in which he is recompensed (The Hereafter) for his actions.

What Is Said to People Who Innovate – Shaykh Ubayd Al Jaabiree

Shaykh Ubayd Al Jaabiree (Allah preserve him) said:

It is said to those who innovate:

“Do you believe that Allah has perfected his religion, in his book and the Sunnah of his messenger (Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam), or not?”

So if he said:

“No”,

He has disbelieved, and he’s become from those who have legislated that which Allah did not give permission for. [Ref 1- see footnote 1 at the end of this article]

And if he said:

“Yes”

Then it is said to him:

“Is this (action of yours) from that which came in the Quran or Sunnah?!

It is not allowed for you, except to abandon that deed. And if not, then you have become a misguided innovator and you are not a good doer.” [Ref 2- see footnote 2 at the end of this article]

Career VS Marriage… Delaying Marriage until after 30! Ibn Uthaymeen

The Consequences upon Whoever Delays Marriage until After 30 Years of Age For The Reason of Building His Future.

The Question: If a young man delays marriage, until after 30 years of age whilst having the ability (to get married), Is there anything upon him because he wants to build his future (first) and complete his education?

The Answer: Yes there is something upon him. And it is (the fact) that he did not follow and take the guidance (and instructions) of the Prophet (sallaAllahu alayhi wa aalihi wa sallam), and his saying is (sallaAllahu alayhi wa sallam):

“O Youth, whoever is able from amongst you to get married, then let him get married, for indeed it is better in lowering the gaze and more preserving for your private parts”. (1)

So he commanded the youth that they should get married and he clarified its benefits. And the statement (excuse) that he is distracted (and busy) with studies and with building his future is a false (invalid) statement. And how many people were not at ease during their studies until after they got married. (after marriage) They found ease (and relief), sufficient provision and self-restraint from looking at that which Allaah has made impermissible, like (looking at) women, pictures and the likes.

Therefore, my advice for the youth (young men & women) in general is that they should get married at the earliest opportunity by following the command of the Messenger of Allaah (sallaAllahu Alayhi wa sallam) and in seeking to attain provision; because the married individual wants chastity and modesty (abstinence and protection from that which Allaah has made impermissible), so Allaah the Glorified and Majestic aids him, as it’s been mentioned in the Hadeeth:

“It is a right on Allaah to aid three (types of people)”,

and he mentioned from them:

“The man who marries wanting chastity”.

Virtue of Hastening to Marriage – Al Imaam ibn Baz

The virtue of taking the first opportunity to get married.

Al Imaam ibn Baz (rahimahullah) was asked about delaying marriage due to certain reasons, from them: an individual’s (male or female)  job, their social and financial circumstances and studies.

The answer:

What is required is to take the first opportunity to get married. The youth (young man & women) should not delay marriage for the reason of studies.

And the young women should not delay marriage for the reason of studies, as marriage does not prevent anything from that. And it is possible for the young man to get married and preserve his religion, his manners and lower his gaze and at the same time he continues to study.

And likewise for the young women, when Allah makes it easy for her a compatible match, she should hasten to get married even if she is still studying. All of this does not prevent (marriage).

So what is required is to take the first opportunity and to agree to marriage if a compatible person proposes. And studies does not prevent that.

And if a part of the studies was left out, then that’s still ok. What’s important is that you learn that which makes you know your religion. And the rest is a (extra) benefit.

And in marriage there are numerous advantages, especially in this time (we are in), and due to the harm that’s upon the young women and men in delaying it.

Therefore, what is required upon all young men and all young women is to take the first opportunity to get married when a compatible proposer is made possible for a woman.

And when a good woman is made possible for the young man, he should take this opportunity, acting upon the saying of the noble Messenger (upon him be the salaah and salaam) is the authentic Hadith:

“O youth, those who are able amongst you to get married; then he should marry; for indeed it is better in lowering the gaze, and more preserving for the private parts, and whoever is unable, then he should fast, for indeed it is a shield for him” [Agreed upon].

And this includes both the young men and women, and it is not specific to the men, but it is general for both, as both of them are in need of getting married. We ask Allah guidance for everyone.

Narrated by Al-Bukhari in the Book of marriage, chapter (The saying of the Prophet (sallaAllahu alayhi wa sallam:

“Whoever is able amongst you to get married then he shall get married) [#5065].

And Muslim in the Book of marriage. Chapter (Recommendation to get married for the one whose soul desires it) [#1400].

Ruling on following the legislated concessions – Shaykh Fawzaan

Shaykh Saalih Al Fawzaan was asked about those who follow the legislated Islamic concessions?

The religion is an amaanah- an amaanah between the slave and his Lord. It’s obligatory that he performs it (the religious duties) as Allah and his messenger have commanded. Whoever performs the obligations, leaves off the prohibited affairs, (does) that which he is able from the mustahabbaat (recommended actions) and abandons the makroohaat (disliked affairs), this is the amaanah between the slave and his lord.

The concessions are only allowed when there is a need and necessity (to utilize) them. Utilize them in accordance with necessity- with a need for the concession. Just like the sick person combines between two prayers, performs tayyamum if he cannot use water for purification and doesn’t fast in Ramadhaan, and a traveller shortens the prayers- this is a religious concession used at the time of its requirement.

As for using concessions in other than their correct place,(i.e. situation) then this is not permissible. Allah did not permit that for him (in such situation). Indeed He (Allaah) only placed the concessions at specified times and situations, and they are not used in other than these (times and situations).  Therefore it is obligated on the Muslim that he fears Allah and that he establishes that which Allah has obligated on him. Explanation of the Muslim’s Testification of Faith – Imaam Sadi

The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) said: Islaam is built upon 5;

  1. The Shahaadah (testification) that there is none that is truly deserving of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah
  2. The establishment of the (five compulsory) Prayers
  3. Paying of Zakah (Obligatory charity paid annually if minimum level of wealth has been reached and maintained for a full Islamic year)
  4. Performance of Hajj (Obligatory major pilgirmage (performed once) to the Kabah in Makkah, for those who have the ability)
  5. Fasting the month of Ramadhaan

So the Shahaadah: Laa ilaaha illa Allah:

Is the knowledge, belief and adherence of the slave that there is nothing (or no-one) deserving of divinity or worship except Allah Alone, having no partner.

Therefore that which is obligated upon the slave:

Is to purify and sincerely (direct) all (affairs) of the religion to Allah [The Most High], and that the slave’s acts of worship – the apparent and the hidden – are all for (carried out for the sake of) Allah alone, and that he does not associate any partners with Him in any of the affairs of the religion.

This is the foundation of the religion of all of the messengers and their followers as Allah the Most High has said:

وَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِىٓ إِلَيۡهِ أَنَّهُ ۥ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۟ فَٱعۡبُدُونِ

And We did not send any Messenger before you [O Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam)] but We revealed to him (saying): Lâ ilâha illa Ana [none has the right to be worshipped but I (Allâh)], so worship Me (Alone and none else).” [Al-Anbiyaa (25)]

And The Shahaadah that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah:

That the Slave believes (and holds as creed) that Allah sent Muhammad to all of the humans and jinn, a bringer of glad tidings and a warner, calling them to single out Allah [in worship (Tawheed)] and to obey Him, by affirming the news/information (Allaah has made known to them),  obeying His commands and staying far away from His prohibitions. And that (the person) believes that there is no happiness and no salvation in the worldly life or hereafter, except by way of eemaan (belief) in Allaah and by obeying [the Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam)]. And (know) that it is obligatory to put love of him before love of yourself and your children and all of the people.

And (to believe) that Allah aided him with miracles, as an indication of (the truthfulness) of his message and the complete knowledge Allaah gave him and (his) high moral character, and that his religion is comprised of guidance, mercy and truth; worldly and religious benefits.

And the greatest sign is this Great Quraan, due to the truth it contains, the information about (various affairs of the worldly life and the afterlife), commands and prohibitions.

And Allah knows best.

When is Abandoning Innovation a Sunnah? Ibn Uthaymeen

Al Allaamah Al Faqeeh Muhammad ibn Saalih Al Uthaymeen (rahimahullah) was asked:

Question: It is said that indeed a bidah is not initiated except that a Sunnah similar to it is abandoned, as one of the salaf stated(1); so what is the abandoned Sunnah as a result of innovating the bidah of mawlid?

Answer: The abandoned Sunnah (in this instance is in relation to) abandoning this bidah because indeed the Sunnah can be by way of [ترك -(abandoning) and by way of فعل (action)]. If the Messenger ( sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam ) left something (i.e. an act of worship) despite the fact that there was a means for action, but he did not do it, then leaving it is Sunnah. So here we say: You (people) initiated a bidah and abandoned a sunnah, and Sunnah here is to abandon this bidah.
