Among the remarkable qualities that radiate from the strong believers

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

They Pay Heed and Take Admonition

Allah [The Most High] said:

أَفَمَن يَعۡلَمُ أَنَّمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيۡكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ ٱلۡحَقُّ كَمَنۡ هُوَ أَعۡمَىٰٓ‌ۚ إِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ أُوْلُواْ ٱلۡأَلۡبَـٰبِ

Shall he then who knows that what has been revealed unto you (O Muhammad) from your Lord is the truth be like him who is blind? But it is only the men of understanding that pay heed] –Meaning: Only the people with (sound) intellect will pay heed and take admonition.

They Fulfil Covenants

[ٱلَّذِينَ يُوفُونَ بِعَهۡدِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَنقُضُونَ ٱلۡمِيثَـٰقَ –Those who fulfill the Covenant of Allah and break not the Mithaq (bond, treaty, covenant)]- Meaning: Those who fulfil that which they have been commanded.

They Maintain The Ties of Kinship, Fear Their Lord and The Hereafter

Those who join that which Allah has commanded to be joined (i.e. they are good to their relatives and do not sever the bond of kinship), fear their Lord, and dread the terrible reckoning (i.e. abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which Allah has forbidden and perform all kinds of good deeds which Allah has ordained)].

They Exercise Patience, Establish The Salah, Spend  In The Path of Allah and Repel Evil With Good

“And those who remain patient, seeking their Lord’s Countenance, perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and spend out of that which We have bestowed on them, secretly and openly, and prevent evil with good, for such there is a good end”.

Meaning: They exercise patience whilst carrying out what they have been commanded and seeking the pleasure of Allah; they establish the five daily prayers and pay the Zakat, prevent evil deeds by performing righteous deeds, forgive others the wrong they have done to them, forbearing and prevent evil through repentance to Allah.

The Reward Kept For Them In The Hereafter

Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens), which they shall enter and (also) those who acted righteously from among their fathers, and their wives, and their offspring. And angels shall enter unto them from every gate (saying)]: Salamun ‘Alaikum (peace be upon you) for that you persevered in patience! Excellent indeed is the final home!] [An Excerpt from Zad Al-Masir Fee Ilm at-Tafsir By Imam Ibn Al-Jawzi]

Just as You made my external form beautiful, make my character beautiful as well].

Alif-Lam-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. The Romans have been defeated. In the nearer land (Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Palestine), and they, after their defeat, will be victorious. Within three to nine years. The decision of the matter, before and after (these events) is only with Allah, (before the defeat of Romans by the Persians, and after, i.e. the defeat of the Persians by the Romans). And on that Day, the believers (i.e. Muslims) will rejoice (at the victory given by Allah to the Romans against the Persians), with the help of Allah, He helps whom He wills, and He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. (It is) a Promise of Allah (i.e. Allah will give victory to the Romans against the Persians), and Allah fails not in His Promise, but most of humankind know not. They know only the outside appearance of the life of the world (i.e. the matters of their livelihood, like irrigating or sowing or reaping, etc.), and they are heedless of the Hereafter. [Al-Rum. 1-7]

Imam As-Sadi, may Allah have mercy upon him, stated:

In that era the Persians and Romans were among the most powerful states in the earth, and there used to be wars and fighting between them as happens between states of equal strength. The Persians were polytheists who worshipped fire, and the Romans were people of the Scripture who ascribed themselves to the Tawrat and Injeel, and they were closer to the Muslims than the Persians; therefore, the believers loved that the Romans should gain the upper hand and be victorious over the Persians, but the polytheists – due to the religion of polytheism they had in common with the Persians – loved that the Persians should be victorious over the Romans. The Persians were victorious over the Romans, but the victory did not extend over their lands, rather it was limited to the areas closest to their frontiers. The polytheists of Makkah were happy and the Muslims were sad due to that, so Allah informed and promised them that the Romans will overcome the Persians [فِى بِضۡعِ سِنِينَ‌ۗ – Within three to nine years] – Meaning, within nine or eight years, or approximately; neither exceeding ten years nor less than three years; and that the Persian victory against the Romans and the Roman victory against the Persians occurs by Allah’s Will and decree. This is why Allah stated: [لِلَّهِ ٱلۡأَمۡرُ مِن قَبۡلُ وَمِنۢ بَعۡدُ‌ۚ – The decision of the matter, before and after (these events) is only with Allah]- Meaning, victory does not merely occur due to the means one employs, but rather it has to attached to Allah’s Will and Decree.

[وَيَوۡمَٮِٕذٍ – And on that Day]- Meaning, the day that the Romans will overcome and defeat Persians, [يَفۡرَحُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ – the believers (i.e. Muslims) will rejoice; بِنَصۡرِ ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ – with the help of Allah; يَنصُرُ مَن يَشَآءُ‌ۖ – He (Allah) helps whom He wills]- Meaning, they (i.e. the Muslims) will rejoice due to the Roman victory against the Persians, even though both parties are disbelievers, but some evils are less harmful than others, and on that day the polytheists (of Makkah) will be sad. (1)

Shaikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

The Persians were fire worshippers and the Romans were Christians. At first the Persians defeated the Christians and this occurred during the early days of the Prophet’s, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, mission while he was in Makkah and his followers were few; so the polytheists were happy due to the victory of the Persians because they were closer to them than the people of the Scripture, and because both the Quraish and the Persians were nether people of the Scripture nor did they believe in the resurrection. The Muslims were sad because the people of the Scripture were closer to them [i.e. even though they distorted their books and are commanded to follow the final Messenger]. Then Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq, may Allah be pleased with him, went to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and informed him about the victory of the Persians, so Allah revealed:

Alif-Laam-Meem. Muslims) will rejoice (at the victory given by Allah to the Romans against the Persians); with the help of Allah, He helps whom He wills, and He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. [Al-Rum. 1-5]

This was what the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, informed them before its occurrence and it occurred as he stated. When Abubakr As-Siddeeq, may Allah be pleased with him, informed the Quraish about it, they belied him, so he placed a price on that as mentioned by the scholars of Tafsir and the scholars of Hadith. Sufyaan Bin Sunayd, may Allah have mercy upon him, – a Shaikh of Imam Al-Bukhari, may Allah have mercy upon him, – stated in his Tafsir with a chain of narration to Niyaar Bin Mukram al-Aslamee, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: “When Allah revealed these verses to His Messenger, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, the leaders of Makkah said, ‘O Ibn Abee Quhaafah (i.e. Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq)! What is this that your companion (i.e. the Prophet) says?’ He said, ‘By Allah, it is the speech of Allah’. They said, ‘Then let there be a bet between us on the basis that the Romans will defeat the Persians between three to nine years’. Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, betted them. Many polytheists entered into Islam when that occurred. Ibn Mukram [i.e. Niyaar] said, ‘The Quraish wanted the Persians to be victorious since they were not people of the Book, nor did they believe in the Resurrection. So when Allah revealed these verses, Abu Bakr As-Siddiq went out, proclaiming throughout Makkah, ‘Alif, Laam, Meem. The Romans have been defeated. In the nearest land, and they, after their defeat, will be victorious, within three to nine years’. Some of the Quraish said, ‘Then this is (a bet) between us and you. Your companion claims that the Romans will defeat the Persians within three to nine years, so why not have a bet on that between us and you?’ Abu Bakr said, ‘This was before betting has been forbidden’. So Abu Bakr and the idolaters made a bet, and they said to Abu Bakr, ‘What do you think – Bid’ means something between three and nine years, so let us agree on the middle’. They agreed on six years; then six years passed without the Romans being victorious. The idolaters took what they won in the bet from Abu Bakr. When the seventh year came and the Romans were finally victorious over the Persians, the Muslims rebuked Abu Bakr for agreeing to six years. He said, ‘Because Allah said: ‘In Bid’ years’. Many people became Muslims at that time. This hadeeth has also been reported by At-Tirmidhee Numbers, 3193 and 3194 and this story related to it is Mutawaatir. (2)

Reflections on some statements of Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Mad’khali [64 of 80]

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

I wish read some of the verses that convey Allah’s Greatness and Exaltedness – that indeed He is the master and Lord of of this universe, and the One in control of it; therefore, He alone has the right to be worshipped and the religion (i.e. worship, obedience) should be sincerely devoted to Him alone. We are not able to express this affair, but we shall take from the verses of the Qur’aan that shows the Greatness of our Lord – The Exalted and The Most Great; the only one worthy of worship, the one worthy that one humbles and submits himself to Him, and that we feel shy in His presence. Allaah [The Blessed and Exalted] said:

All-Knower of the unseen and the seen, the Most Great, the Most High. It is the same (to Him) whether any of you conceal his speech or declare it openly, whether he be hid by night or go forth freely by day. For each (person), there are angels in succession, before and behind him. They guard him by the Command of Allah. Verily! Allah will not change the good condition of a people as long as they do not change their state of goodness themselves (by committing sins and by being ungrateful and disobedient to Allah). But when Allah wills a people’s punishment, there can be no turning back of it, and they will find besides Him no protector. It is He who shows you the lightning, as a fear (for travellers) and as a hope (for those who wait for rain). And it is He Who brings up (or originates) the clouds, heavy (with water). And Ar-Ra’d (thunder) glorifies and praises Him, and so do the angels because of His Awe, He sends the thunderbolts, and therewith He strikes whom He wills, yet they (disbelievers) dispute about Allah. And He is Mighty in strength and Severe in punishment. For Him (Alone) is the Word of Truth (i.e. none has the right to be worshipped but He). And those whom they (polytheists and disbelievers) invoke, answer them no more than one who stretches forth his hand (at the edge of a deep well) for water to reach his mouth, but it reaches him not, and the invocation of the disbelievers is nothing but an error (i.e. of no use). And unto Allah (Alone) falls in prostration whoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and so do their shadows in the mornings and in the afternoons. [Al-Rad 9-15]

We stop here with fear in the presence of Allah’s Greatness, which has been clearly shown in these verses. Allaah is The Most Great, The Exalted, The Knower of everything and nothing is hidden from Him. Nothing can stand in front of what He wills, and everything in the heavens, the earth and the angels surrender to Him. I am not able to express this affair (i.e. in the manner it deserves). [Majmu 1/21]

The Importance of Truthfulness- By Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Mad’khali [Part 2]

The Importance of truthfulness and its necessity for the (upright) establishment of the worldly and religious matters- By Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Mad’khali, may Allah preserve him

Due to the (great) significance of truthfulness and its position in the Sight of Allah, as well as among Muslims and the sensible ones among humankind, Allah described Himself as one who is truthful. He said:

Say (O Muhammad): “Allah has spoken the truth; follow the religion of Ibrahim (Abraham) Hanifa (Islamic Monotheism, i.e. he used to worship Allah Alone), and he was not of polytheists. [Aal Imran 95]

This is a praise from Allah regarding Himself with this magnificent description (trait, quality). He is truthful in all His reports, in all His speech, in His divine legislations, in what He has narrated about His prophets and their nations, regarding the Children of Israel, their prophets, believers, and sinners, those who disbelieved among them, and regarding their alterations of Allah’s Books, namely the Torah and the Gospel, and taking their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allah (by obeying them in things which they made lawful or unlawful according to their own desires without being ordered by Allah). [Footnote a]

Allah said:

And who is truer in statement than Allah?! [Al-Nisa 87]

Allah said:

Allah’s Promise is the Truth, and whose words can be truer than those of Allah? (Of course, none). [Al-Nisa 122]

Allah said:

And We sent not (as Our Messengers) before you (O Muhammad) any but men, whom We inspired, (to preach and invite mankind to believe in the Oneness of Allah). So ask of those who know the Scripture if you know not. And We did not create them (the Messengers, with) bodies that ate not food, nor were they immortals; then We fulfilled to them the promise, and We saved them and those whom We willed, but We destroyed Al-Musrifun (i.e. extravagants in oppression, polytheism and in sin). [Al-Anbiya 7-9]

Allah said:

Thus We recompensed them for their rebellion [committing crimes like murdering the Prophets, eating of Riba (usury), etc.]. And verily, We are Truthful. [Al-An’am 146]

Thus, Allah has described Himself with this magnificent description (trait, quality): truthfulness in speech, truthfulness in actions, truthfulness in promises, and truthfulness in warnings. This includes truthfulness in the accounts about His prophets and beloved faithful servants, as well as truthfulness in the reports concerning His enemies, those who disbelieve in Him. The Importance of truthfulness – By Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Mad’khali [Part 1]

The Importance of truthfulness and its necessity for the (upright) establishment of the worldly and religious matters- By Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al-Mad’khali, may Allah preserve him

All praise is due to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon Allah’s Messenger, his family, his companions, and those who follow his guidance. To proceed:

Indeed, the quality (trait) of truthfulness is one of the greatest foundations of both the religion and worldly matters; neither the worldly matters nor can the religion be upright through lies, betrayal, or deception. Truthfulness and (truthful) affirmation is the strong bond between the Messengers and those who believe in them. Allah, The Exalted, said:

وَالَّذِي جَاءَ بِالصِّدْقِ وَصَدَّقَ بِهِ ۙ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُتَّقُونَ
لَهُم مَّا يَشَاءُونَ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ جَزَاءُ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

And he (Muhammad SAW) who has brought the truth (this Quran and Islamic Monotheism) and (those who) believed therein (i.e. the true believers of Islamic Monotheism), those are the pious. They shall have all that they will desire with their Lord. That is the reward of good-doers. [Az-Zumar 33-34]

He (Allah) stated about lies and denial (of truth):

فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن كَذَبَ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَكَذَّبَ بِالصِّدْقِ إِذْ جَاءَهُ ۚ أَلَيْسَ فِي جَهَنَّمَ مَثْوًى لِّلْكَافِرِينَ

Then, who does more wrong than one who utters a lie against Allah, and denies the truth [this Quran, the Prophet (Muhammad), the Islamic Monotheism, the Resurrection and the reward or punishment according to good or evil deeds] when it comes to him! Is there not in Hell an abode for the disbelievers? [Az-Zumar 32]

Due to the station of truthfulness and (truthful) affirmation of truth – in the Sight of Allah, among rational people, the possessors of sound natural disposition- and their good outcomes; and (due to) the danger of lies and denial of truth, I wish to present this speech that is derived from Allah’s Book and the Sunnah of Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and from the biography and circumstances of some of the truthful and faithful companions of Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. I beseech Allah to assist and grant me the ability through everything I am able to provide advice and clarification to my fellow Muslims. And I ask Him to place us all among those who are truthful, eager to adhere to the truth, and steadfast upon it; and make all of us among those who love the truth and strive to follow it, and (truthfully) affirm it. A harmful behaviour observed in numerous nations across history

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah [The Exalted] said:

وَلَقَدۡ صَرَّفۡنَا فِى هَـٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ لِلنَّاسِ مِن ڪُلِّ مَثَلٍ۬‌ۚ وَكَانَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَڪۡثَرَ شَىۡءٍ۬ جَدَلاً۬

And indeed We have put forth every kind of example in this Quran, for mankind. But, man is ever more quarrelsome than anything]. [Al-Kahf. 54]

Allah informed us about the greatness of the Qur’an, its majesty and (perfect) inclusiveness, and that He has placed every kind of example in it – every path that leads to beneficial sciences and eternal happiness; every path that protects against evil and destruction. In it is clarification of halal and haram, recompense for one’s deeds, exhortation (towards good) and warning (against evil), true (information, stories) that are beneficial for the hearts regarding creed, a source of tranquillity and light (i.e. guidance). This necessitates that one should submit to this Qur’an, receive it with submission and obedience, and not to argue against it in any matter. Despite this, many people argue against truth – based on falsehood – after it has become clear.

“to dispute with false argument, in order to refute the truth thereby”.

This is why Allah stated:

وَكَانَ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَڪۡثَرَ شَىۡءٍ۬ جَدَلاً۬

“But, man is ever more quarrelsome than anything”.

Meaning, arguing and disputing against it, despite the fact that this is neither befitting (permissible) nor just, and what inevitably led him to this and make him not accept Iman is wrongdoing and obstinacy; but not due to any flaw in its explanation, Hujjah [clear and overwhelming proof that defeats all the obstinate and stubborn ones] and Burhaan [proof that clarify and distinguish between truth and falsehood in affair], rather, if the punishment and what happened to the previous nations came to them, this would have have been their state of affairs (i.e. disbelief). This is why Allah said:

وَمَا مَنَعَ ٱلنَّاسَ أَن يُؤۡمِنُوٓاْ إِذۡ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَيَسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ رَبَّهُمۡ إِلَّآ أَن تَأۡتِيَہُمۡ سُنَّةُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ أَوۡ يَأۡتِيَہُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ قُبُلاً۬

And nothing prevents men from believing, now when the guidance (the Quran) has come to them, and from asking Forgiveness of their Lord, except that the ways of the ancients be repeated with them (i.e. their destruction decreed by Allah), or the torment be brought to them face to face? [Al-Kahf. 55]

Destructive Self-sufficiency

The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah, The Exalted, said:

كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنَ لَيَطۡغَىٰٓ
أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰٓ

Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds, because he considers himself self-sufficient.

Verily, man does transgress all bounds]- Meaning, Abu Jahl, who used to be insolent and boastful about his clothing, riding beast and food when he earned more wealth. [1]

[أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰٓ – because he considers himself self-sufficient]- Meaning, due to the human being’s ignorance and wrongdoing when he considers himself self-sufficient, he transgresses, rebels, haughtily turns away from guidance, forgets that he will be returned to his Lord and does not not fear the recompense; rather, he might reach such a state that he abandons guidance and calls others to abandon it and tell others not to perform the prayer which is the most virtuous deed of Iman. [2]

Allah did not (solely) state that he (this human being) became self-sufficient; rather, He indicated that tyranny arises from the perception of his self-sufficiency. But He did not mentioned this perfection in Surah Al-Layl; instead, He stated:

وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسْتَغْنَىٰ

وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ

But as for he—( Umayyah bin Khalaf)—who is miserly (with respect to his wealth and Allāh’s right upon him) and considers himself self-sufficient (from his Lord). And rejects al-Ḥusnā (the statement of monotheism) (or: the obligations of prayer, fasting and charity) (or: the promise of Allāh) (or: Paradise and its reward). Then We will make easy for him (the path to) evil (or: Hellfire). https://www.thenoblequran.com/q/#/verse/92/8

This, and Allah knows best, is due to the cause of his arrogance, which stems from his perception of his own self-sufficiency.

Surah Al-Layl elucidates the factors contributing to his downfall and the lack of ease in his affairs, stemming from their belief that they do not need their Lord by abandoning obedience and servitude. Had they genuinely relied on Allah, they would have endeavored to draw nearer to Him through the prescribed acts of worship, akin to a servant who cannot do without his Lord even for a moment and adhering to His orders. For this reason, this is linked to his miserliness, which reflects his failure to fulfill his obligations in speech, actions, and wealth, as well as his rejection of Al-Husna [Footnote a] which is promised those who perform good deeds, as stated by Allah: [لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا الْحُسْنَى وَزِيَادَةٌ – For those who have done good is the best (reward, i.e. Paradise) and Ziyadah]. [Footnote b]

The purpose of this discussion is that the perfection of not needing Allah is the cause of the downfall of a servant of Allah and is the root of all difficulties. His perfection of not being in need of his Lord is the cause of his transgression and downfall, both of which stand in stark contrast to the dependence on Allah and servitude (to Him). [3]

The creation find themselves within two types of neediness. The first type of neediness is inevitable. It is a type of neediness which every everyone (cannot do without) – the righteous and the wicked. It neither necessitates praise nor dispraise, and neither reward nor punishment; rather it is solely due to the fact that the creation are created beings [i.e. absolutely in need and completely dependent on their Creator in every way].

The second type of neediness is one based on choice from which emanates two noble aspects of knowledge. The first one is the servant’s knowledge and awareness of his Lord and the second is knowledge and awareness of oneself in reality. As soon as one acquires these two types of knowledge, it brings about a type of neediness that becomes a person’s distinguished and most precious source of wealth, and the means to success and happiness in (this life and the next). The people’s different stations in this type of neediness depends on their different stations in these two affairs of knowledge.

The one who knows that his Lord (Allaah) is the Self-Sufficient One [absolutely free from all wants and to Whom everyone and everything depends, and none can do without Him in the twinkling of an eye], then he will know that he is completely in need.

The one knows that his Lord (Allaah) is alone the Possessor of Perfect Ability [possessor of All-Encompassing Ability and able to do all things], he will know that he is completely unable [cannot do anything in the twinkling of an eye without the help of] his Lord.

The one who knows that his Lord (Allaah) is The All-Mighty, he will know that he is one completely in a state of [complete poverty, weakness and want unless his Lord provides for him etc]. The one who knows that his Lord (Allaah) is the possessor of All- Encompassing knowledge and Wisdom, he will know that he is ignorant.

Allah brought the person out of his mother’s womb while he knew nothing- not able to do anything and owned nothing; neither able to give nor take, and neither able to harm nor benefit. This state of neediness – until he reached a more perfect state – is something witnessed and tangible for everyone (to see), and it is well known that this is the very essence of the human being and he remains upon that state. He does not move from this state and enters into a state of Lordship – a state in which he becomes absolutely self-sufficient and not need of anyone and anything; rather he does not cease being a slave, a needy one to his Rabb [Allah the Creator, All-Provider and the Only One Who Controls and Sustains Everything] and His Fatir [Allah, The Originator and Creator of Everything].

However, after the human being was granted blessings, shown mercy, granted the means to reach a more perfect state, and Allah -out of His Perfect Kindness and Generosity- granted him apparent blessings [i.e. to recognize the Messengers who were sent with Islamic Monotheism, granted him the lawful pleasures of this world, including health, good looks, etc.] and the hidden blessings [i.e. granted him the innate disposition to recognize his Lord when the Messenger calls him to Iman, and granted him knowledge, wisdom, guidance for doing righteous deeds, and also the pleasures and delights of the Hereafter in Paradise, etc.], granted him hearing, sight and a heart, and taught him [i.e. gave him the means to knowledge], granted him ability, subjugated things to him, granted him [the desire and enthusiasm to pursue what is beneficial, and take action], enabled him to receive the service of those of his kind [i.e. gave him authority over other humans], subjugated to him horses and camels, gave him the ability to capture the animals in the sea, drop birds from the sky, subjugate wild animals, dig wells [irrigate water etc.], plant trees, dig the earth, learn how to build, acquire the things that are of benefit to him, guard against and protect himself from that which is harmful to him; then the Miskin [i.e. this absolutely poor, dependent human being] thinks that he has a share of authority and claims – for himself – a kingship [or authority] similar to that of Allah [Glorified be Allah and free is Allah from all imperfections, partners, coequals, similarities etc.], and begins to see himself in a manner other than what he was at first, forgets his (prior) state of non-existence, poverty and neediness, until he becomes as if he was not that poor and needy thing. Short temper vanished after discovering these incredible promises and extraordinary women

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

But when there comes the greatest catastrophe (i.e. the Day of Recompense, etc.), the Day when man shall remember what he strove for, and Hell-fire shall be made apparent in full view for (every) one who sees, then, for him who Tagha (transgressed all bounds, in disbelief, oppression and evil deeds of disobedience to Allah). And preferred the life of this world (by following his evil desires and lusts), verily, his abode will be Hell-fire; but as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires, and lusts, then verily, Paradise will be his abode. [An-Nazi’at. 34-41]

Imam Al-Ajurri, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

It is obligated to the one who hears this from Allah to be more careful or cautious about his Nafs than an enemy who wishes to murder him, take his wealth, or violate his honour. If someone asks, “Why do you obligate this precaution on me regarding the Nafs until you put it in a circumstance more dangerous than an enemy whose enmity is unquestionably very manifest?” It should be said to him, “The enemy who wants to harm you, take your wealth, or violate your honour, if they succeed in doing so, Allah will forgive some of your sins and elevate you. (footnote a) However, this will not be the case with the Nafs because if the Nafs dominates you through what you desire—that which you have been forbidden—then you will face ruin in this world and the next, humiliation and terrible punishment in this world and evil in the Sight of Allah”. (footnote b)

As a result, the sensible person – may Allah have mercy on him (or her)- imposes or obligates caution to the Nafs and strives against it in a more severe manner than striving against an enemy who wants to take their wealth and life – strives against the Nafs both in times of anger and happiness. This is how our prophet disciplined us in many ahadith, saying: “The Mujahid is the one who strives against his Nafs in devotion to Allah – The Mighty and Majestic”. [1]

Angels Constantly Supplicate to Allah to Enter Believers and Their Spouses in Jannah

Allah said:

Those (angels) who bear the Throne (of Allah) and those around it glorify the praises of their Lord, and believe in Him, and ask forgiveness for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah) (saying): “Our Lord! You comprehend all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who repent and follow Your Way, and save them from the torment of the blazing Fire! Our Lord! And make them enter the ‘Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens) which you have promised them, and to the righteous among their fathers, their wives, and their offspring! Verily, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise”. [Ghaafir. 7-8]

Allah said:

The good deed and the evil deed cannot be equal. Repel (the evil) with one which is better (i.e. Allah ordered the faithful believers to be patient at the time of anger, and to excuse those who treat them badly), then verily! he, between whom and you there was enmity, (will become) as though he was a close friend. But none is granted it (the above quality) except those who are patient, and none is granted it except the owner of the great portion (of the happiness in the Hereafter i.e. Paradise and in this world of a high moral character). [Fussilat 34-35]

The Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

The Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, “Whoever suppresses their anger while having the ability to act upon it, Allah, the Exalted, will call them forth in the midst of all the creation on the Day of Resurrection, allowing them to choose from the Hur Al Ayn (of paradise) as they wish”. [2]

The Men and Women of Jannah

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, “The first batch (of people) who will enter Paradise will be (glittering) like a full moon; and those who will enter next will be (glittering) like the brightest star. Their hearts will be as if the heart of a single man, for they will have no enmity amongst themselves, and everyone of them shall have two wives, each of whom will be so beautiful, pure and transparent that the marrow of the bones of their legs will be seen through the flesh. They will be glorifying Allah in the morning and evening, and will never fall ill, and they will neither blow their noses, nor spit. Their utensils will be of gold and silver, and their combs will be of gold, and the fuel used in their centers will be the aloeswood, and their sweat will smell like musk.” [3]

The Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,  said: “If one of the women of Paradise looked at the earth, she would fill the whole space between them (the earth and the heaven) with light, and would fill whatever is in between them, with perfume, and the veil of her face is better than the whole world and whatever is in it.”[4]

Abu Umamah, may Allah be pleased with him, stated that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was asked if the people of Paradise will have sexual relations, so he replied, “Yes, with a manhood that does not get tired and a desire that does not cease – one sexual climax after another one”. [5]

Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, stated that Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, “When the believer desires a child in Paradise, he shall be carried (in pregnancy), born, and complete his aging in an hour as he desires.” [6]

Al-Allamah Salih Al-Fawzan, may Allah preserve him, stated:

The reason behind the description of the women of Paradise is so that one is made eager to perform righteous deeds. The beauty of the Hur Al-Ayn (the fair females with wide lovely eyes in Jannah) is neither viewed from one perspective nor is any mind able to comprehend it. Those fair females with wide lovely eyes combine between beauty in their physical form, beauty in all other traits and good manners.

One is amazed by their beauty whenever he glances at them because their beauty is always renewed. They have that glitter in their smile for their husbands, which has no similarity in this worldly life, then what does one think if he were to kiss them and taste the enjoyment from that kiss? Sexual intercourse in this worldly life becomes tiresome and leads to weakness after some time as opposed to sexual intercourse with the women of paradise, because sexual intercourse with the women of Paradise makes a person more lively and active. A man’s wife in Paradise will neither be bored nor tired. Similarly, the virginity of the women of Paradise will not be lost permanently like the virginity of the women of this worldly life, instead whenever the women of Paradise are disvirgined, their virginities are renewed and the man’s reproductive organ is always erected [i.e. during sexual intercourse]. The men of paradise are given the strength of a hundred men put together, thus, whoever preserves his private parts, guards his eye sight and his hearing from the forbidden, he will be from the people with the most strength in Paradise and he will receive the most enjoyment in sexual intercourse. Similarly, sometimes argumentation, differing and trouble occurs between married couples leading to divorce; however none of this will take place between the spouses in Paradise. [7]

We ask Allah:

O Allah! By Your Knowledge of the unseen and by Your Power over creation, let me live if life is good for me, and let me die if death is good for me; O Allah! I ask You to grant me (the blessing of having) fear of You in private and public, and I ask You (to make me utter) a statement of truth in times of contentment and anger, and I ask You for moderation when in a state of wealth and poverty, and I ask you for blessings that never ceases, and I ask You for the coolness of my eye that never ends, and I ask You (to make me pleased) after (Your) decree; and I ask You for a life of (ease, comfort, tranquility, etc.) after death; I ask You for the delight of looking at Your Face (i.e. in the Hereafter) and yearning to meet You without any harm and misleading trials (coming upon me). O Allah! Adorn us with the adornment of Iman, and make us (from those who are) guided and guiding (others). [8]

O Allah! Rectify my religion for me, which is the safeguard of my affairs; rectify my worldly [affairs], wherein is my livelihood; and rectify my Afterlife to which is my return; and make life for me [as a means of] increase in every good and make death for me as a rest from every evil. [9]

Footnote a: The Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said, “Indeed, the bankrupt one of my Ummah will come on the Day of Resurrection with prayer, fasting and Zakah (in his account), but he comes along having abused this one, slandered that one, unlawfully took the wealth of this one and shed the blood of that one, and beaten that one. So this one will be given from his good deeds, and that one will be given from his good deeds. And if his good deeds finishes before the judgment is made on him, some of their sins(i.e. the ones he wronged) will be taken and cast onto him, then he will be thrown into the Fire.” [10]

Footnote b: Imam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: The sinners [i.e. those who die whilst committing sins lesser than shirk] are under the will of Allah- if Allah wishes, He will either punish them or forgive them straight away or He enters them into hell for some time and paradise thereafter, just as Allah said:

[إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَغۡفِرُ أَن يُشۡرَكَ بِهِۦ وَيَغۡفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٲلِكَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ‌ۚ – Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases]. [An-Nisaa.48] [11]

Virtue remains distinct even when an era is filled with corruption

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah, The Most High, said:

قُل لَّا يَسْتَوِي الْخَبِيثُ وَالطَّيِّبُ وَلَوْ أَعْجَبَكَ كَثْرَةُ الْخَبِيثِ ۚ فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ يَا أُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ

Say: “Not equal are Al-Khabith (all that is evil and bad as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.) and At-Taiyib (all that is good as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.), even though the abundance of Al-Khabith (evil) may please you.” So fear Allah much [(abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)], O men of understanding in order that you may be successful. [Al-Maa’idah 100]

“say” (O Muhammad) to mankind, warning against evil and desiring good; “not equal are all that is evil and bad and all that is good”. Iman is not equal to Kufr, obedience to (Allah and His Messenger) is not equal to disobedience to (Allah and His Messenger), the people of paradise are not equal to the people of hell fire, filthy deeds are not equal to good deeds, and unlawful wealth is not equal to lawful wealth.

“Even though the abundance of Al-Khabeeth (evil) may please you (people)”.

Meaning, indeed, it will not benefit the person in anything, rather it will harm his religious and worldly affairs.

So fear Allah much [abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)], O men of understanding in order that you may be successful]
