No Bigoted Attachment to Personalities Amongst UK Salafiyyoon

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Al-Allamah Zayd Bin Hadi Al-Mad’khali, may Allah have mercy upon him, stated:

There is no (unrestricted or unconditional) allegiance except to Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, because he is infallible and never speaks out of his desires. As for unrestricted allegiance to personalities whether they are correct or mistaken, this is not permissible for the seeker of knowledge. On the other hand, he should look to such and such Shaikhs as to which of them is upon uprightness and is following the methodology of the pious predecessors. This is the one whom we place our hands on his hands- not out of blameworthy blind following, rather due to the fact that he is upon the truth. So we agree with him upon truth and follow a singular path in obedience to the statement of Allah, The Mighty and Majestic:

[وَأَنَّ هَٰذَا صِرَاطِي مُسْتَقِيمًا فَاتَّبِعُوهُ ۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا السُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمْ عَن سَبِيلِهِ – And verily, this is my Straight Path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His Path] [6:153]

As for the one who selects Shaikhs, leaders and guides, whilst being in agreement with them- in what is correct and wrong- to the extent that they do not leave their methodology whether they are correct or wrong, these are the people who bring evil upon themselves and others. If they do not repent, they are most worthy of being blamed. Thus, the matter – and all praise belongs to Allah- is clear and it is not permissible for a person to be in confusion regarding this . We are with those who follow the straight path-we follow a singular path which Allah, The Mighty and Majestic, has commanded us to follow and which the messenger called us to. Those you follow the wrong path or are mistaken in many matters, or in some, we leave him [i.e. we leave his mistakes]. None is followed in everything except the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. As for the people, they can be correct or mistaken. Indeed, we do not follow them and we do not follow their footsteps solely because they are Shaikhs, callers to Islam, leaders or guides; instead, you should be with the people of the Salafi Methodology -those who follow the correct methodology and understanding.(1)

The UK Salafiyyoon and their well-known brothers in other regions of the earth stood firm against the Qutubiyyah, the Sooriyyah, the Ikhwaanees, the Hajaawirah, the figureheads of Bidah (such as Abdur Rahmaan Abdul Khaaliq, Salmaan Al-Awdah, Safar Al-Hawali, Abul Hasan Al-Maribi, Ali Al-Halabi, Yahyah Al-Hajuri, Muhammad Al-Maghraawi) and their staunch followers. They do not even tolerate the transgression of those who have not been declared innovators, such as the likes of Muhammad Bin Haadi and his ilk. Indeed, our brothers at Maktabah Salafi have been at the forefront of the battle against all the heads of Bidah in the UK, stood firm and transmitted the verdicts of the senior scholars against all the heads of Bidah and the transgressors. During all the trials related to Manhaj and Aqeedah – by the Tawfeeq of Allaah, the elders at Salafipublications and the Maraakiz neither gave precedence to falsehood nor allowed its adherents to beautify it; neither sought to find lame excuses for the promoters of falsehood nor the oppressors; neither entertained blind following nor allowed the status of anyone to take precedence over the truth; rather they and their well-known brothers in the other regions of the world- due to following the footsteps of the scholars of Sunnah – have constantly aided the people of Sunnah, work tirelessly to maintain unity and allegiance to the Sunnah. This is what Al-Allaamah Ubaid Bin Abdillaah Al-Jaabiri [may Allaah have mercy upon him], Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khali [may Allaah preserve him] and others know about Salafipublications and their brothers in the UK, and this is – to this day – manifest for everyone to see. May Allaah continue to unite all the Salafiyyoon upon the sound Aqeedah and the sound Manhaj stances, protect them from all the causes of differing in Aqeedah and Manhaj, increase the love and compassion between them, and continue to guide the masses to this bless Manhaj Aameen. Whoever claims or insinuates that the UK Salafiyyoon are guilty of bigoted attachment to any personality or individual, then either he does not understand what bigoted attachment necessitates or he is guilty of slander, and may Allaah guide him Aameen.

Some Causes of Poor Health

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

The Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said, “The best of the people are those living in my generation, then those who will follow the latter and then those who come after them. Then there will come after them people who will be treacherous and will not be trustworthy, they will bear witness without being asked to do so, and they will vow, but will never fulfil their vows, and fatness will appear among them”. [Saheeh Al-Bukhaari. Number 6695]

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “They give false testimony, act treacherously and deceitfully. They behave in a very sinful manner and follow evil desires, except those whom Allaah safeguards amongst the Taa’ifatul Mansoorah [i.e. the aided group of Muslims upon the straight path] – those whom Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] praised. Therefore, it is obligated on us to acquire knowledge for the sake of Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] and act upon it. Ignorance is a deadly disease and knowledge is a weapon that will destroy you if you do not act upon it, and Allaah’s refuge is sought”. [Marhaban Yaa Taalibal Ilm pages 268-270]

Imaam An-Nawawi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said regarding the statement, “They will bear witness without being asked to do so”, this can mean that they bear witness before being asked, or they bear witness based on falsehood, or they give witness without being from those who are worthy of it”. [Sharh Saheeh Muslim 12/17]

However, there is another Hadeeth in which the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] stated, “Should I not inform you about the best of witnesses, they are those who bear witness before being asked”. The scholars say that what is intended by this hadeeth is for example: someone has a witness to give on behalf of another person based on truth, but the person does not know about it, so he [i.e. the one who should give the witness] informs the person about it; or for example, a person has already passed away and another person knows what the deceased person has left behind as inheritance, so he bears witness to that and makes it known. [Fat-hul Baari 5/260]

And regarding the statement, “And fatness will appear among them”, Imaam Muhammad Bin Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Meaning, these people give importance to the means of fattening themselves – food, drink and over-abundance. So, their only concern is their bodies and fattening themselves. As for being fat without choice, then one cannot be blamed for that, just as a person cannot be blamed for being tall, short, black or white…”[Majmoo Al-Fataawaa 10/1056]

Imaam Muhammad Bin Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: The (type) of luxurious lifestyle that exist (today) is that a person does not desire except to drive a comfortable vehicle and to build a spectacular mansion. He does not want to receive any inconvenience – neither (feeling) cold during cold (days) nor the heat during hot (days), nor does he want to be touched by anything, so he (finds) himself in complete luxury. And because of this, health problems such as obesity, high blood pressure and breathlessness is rife amongst them due to a lack of (minimun required) movement (or activity). So, you find some youth climbing a mountain and even before getting halfway, he becomes breathless, (whilst) someone else older than him finds himself in ease, because he [i.e. this older person] is accustomed (to some hardship) but he (i.e. this youth) is not. The Criteria of Progress and Backwardness In The Minds of The Sinful!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Progress and Backwardness In The Minds of The Sinful! [This woman is backward because she wears layers of clothes!]

Al-Allaamah Taqiyuddeen Al-Hilaali [may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated: These two words were not used by the Arabs in the manner intended by writers of the present era because indeed they are from that which the translators translated into Arabic, and transmitted from the European languages, so the Arab writers received and used it in their speech and books. [الرجعية – to go back] is attributed to الرجع – revert] and it is to return to the place in which something was or to the previous state of affairs. As for the contemporaries, the word [الرجعية -to go back or revert] is the characteristic of a person who opposes progress, whose thoughts and beliefs returns to the past, and that is the era (according to them) of ignorance, injustice, clannishness, persistance upon myths and illusions whose darkness has disappeared from the (minds and hearts) of the progessives and the civilized – those who are proceeding rapidly in the ranks of civilization and the seekers of realities, and no obstacle prevents them from that, whether the beliefs or customs which the backward ones (in their view) cling to with bigoted attachment. So they – the progressives- understand and are always on the most advanced stage of this stride as wealthy ones, powerful, happy and scholars; moving forward and co-operating with progressive societies, whilst looking at their fathers and forefathers with contempt and mocking at them whenever they mention their state of affairs. (1)

This is one of the views of the militant secularists and bewildered modernists speaking in the name of progress amongst the Muslims. Anyone who clings to the Sunnah and rejects a progress that is tantamount to violation of the Creator’s commands and prohibitions, then such a person is labelled backward and rigid. However, read what one European writer stated as follows: “When Europeans came to North America, the thing they said about the native Americans was that they were so barbaric, because they walked around naked. The European women were wearing three layers of clothes. Then they came to North America, and decided that the native Americans were backward because they all walked around naked. And now, we walk around naked, and we say that the Muslims are backward because they wear so much clothes”.

Therefore, the basis by way of which the hostile militant secularists they judge what is acceptable or unacceptable is nothing else but vain desires. Allaah [The Exalted] said:

إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهۡوَى ٱلۡأَنفُسُ‌ۖ

They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire.

The Robust Principles of Islaam Safeguards a Muslim

Imaam Al-Albaanee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated regarding his discussion with a priest: “Within the perfection of Islam is that it laid down rulings and divine legislation in order for Muslims to preserve their Islamic personality and are not to wasted away (or ruined)– in any era – through the (Un-Islamic] personality of another nation. The scholars who deal with the subject matters of Ijmaa (consensus) say that any society that wants to preserve their personality must preserve their traditions, history and language, and this is an indisputable affair to them in the knowledge (or subject matter) related to consensus. So, I told him that one of the virtues of Islam and the perfection of its legislation is that it has legislated for the Muslims to preserve their Muslim personality and not to imitate those who are in opposition [to their identity (i.e. identity judged to be un-Islamic by the divine revelation)]; rather they should aim to be in opposition to the path of those who are in opposition to their identity. (2)

Un-Islamic Customs

Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “It is obligated on every Muslim that he does not depend on custom; rather he presents it to the pure Islamic legislation (to be judged), so whatever the Islamic legislation affirms is permissible and whatever it does not affirm is impermissible. The customs of the people are not proof to determine the lawfulness of anything. All the customs of the people in their countries or tribes must be presented to the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] for judgement, so whatever Allaah and His Messenger made permissible is permissible, and whatever they forbid, then it is obligatory to abandon it even if it is the custom of the people”. (3)

Imaam Muhammad Bin Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “The customs cannot make something that is not legislated (in the divine revelation) as something legislated, because of Allaah’s statement: [وَلَيۡسَ ٱلۡبِرُّ بِأَن تَأۡتُواْ ٱلۡبُيُوتَ مِن ظُهُورِهَا – It is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, etc.) that you enter the houses from the back] [Surah Al-Baqarah. Aayah 189], despite the fact that it was something they took as their custom and considered it to be an act of righteousness. Whoever takes something as a custom and believes that it is an act of righteousness, then it should be presented to Allaah’s divine legislation [i.e. to be judged]”. (4)

Imaam Muhammad Bin Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon him] also said, “Extremism in related to customs is stringent adherence to old customs and not diverting to what is better than them. As for if the customs are equal in benefit [i.e. the ones judged to be permissible by the divine legislation], then a person remaining upon what he is upon would be better than going along with the new (or emerging) customs”. (5)

Finally, it is absolutely clear that those who seek to vilify female believers for wearing layers of clothes desire nothing else but corruption – a corruption they seek to portray as progress, freedom and liberty. Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: They seek to conquer the intellects of the Muslim children and nurture their hearts upon their views, either by making them feel that their ways are superior in every affair-be it in affairs of creed and religion, or that which they speak with by way of languages, or what they consider to be civilized manners, customs etc.. They seek to nurture a great number of Muslims in the Muslim lands until they are intoxicated with their views and return them to their lands. Then they start praising and promoting them until they become the figureheads in their countries. So they spread their ideas through these people…etc They encourage the Muslims in the Muslim lands to learn their languages at the expense of the Arabic language, which is the language of the Qur’aan- the language by way of which the Muslims perform their acts of worship. They also establish many studies that are intended to cause nuisance and glorify what they call popular literature and national heritage…..etc They prepare a large number of people amongst their people to study Islam and the Arabic language and write books, and take up teaching positions in universities- orientalists….etc They also spread propaganda that Muslim women in the Muslim lands are oppressed in order to take them out of their homes and place them where they want. But Allaah (The Most High) said:

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ قُلْ لِأَزْوَاجِكَ وَبَنَاتِكَ وَنِسَاءِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يُدْنِينَ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِنْ جَلابِيبِهِنَّ ذَلِكَ أَدْنَى أَنْ يُعْرَفْنَ فَلا يُؤْذَيْنَ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَحِيمًا

O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies. That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” They set up radio programmes designed to mislead gullible young Muslims who do not understand Islam and do not have sufficient knowledge, especially in Africa…. However if the Muslims exercise patience these plots will not harm them. Allaah (The Most High) said: [وَإِنْ تَصْبِرُوا وَتَتَّقُوا لا يَضُرُّكُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْئًا إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ – But if you remain patient and become Al-Muttaqun (the pious – see V.2:2), not the least harm will their cunning do to you. Surely, Allah surrounds all that they do]. (6)

The Life of Imaam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhaab and So called Wahhabism – [Brief response to article of a Journalist at Alarabiya News]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

The Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said:

[إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَبْعَثُ لِهَذِهِ الأُمَّةِ عَلَى رَأْسِ كُلِّ مِائَةِ سَنَةٍ مَنْ يُجَدِّدُ لَهَا دِينَهَا – Allaah will raise for this Ummah at the end of every hundred years the one who will revive its religion for it]. (1)

“Allaah will raise for this Ummah”- meaning the Ummatul Ijaabah [i.e. the Muslims]. “At the end of every hundred years”- Meaning at the end of every hundred years when there is little knowledge of the Islamic legislation and the authentic Prophetic Tradition, whilst ignorance and religious innovation is rife. “One who will revive its religion for it”- Meaning a scholar who is alive and well known. He will clarify the authentic Prophetic Tradition and distinguish it from the religious innovations. knowledge will be abundant again and its adherents will be aided, and the proponents of religious will be overcome and degraded. This reviver is non else but a scholar who has sound understanding of the religious sciences that deal with acts of worship, the underlying wisdoms of the religion and the texts that deal with beliefs of the heart. (2)

There is no doubt that Imaam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhaab [may Allaah have mercy upon him] was one of those revivers, therefore, we must make certain affairs very clear whenever someone either speaks about him or speaks about his relationship with the Saudi Kings of his era [may Allaah have mercy upon them and preserve those amongst them who are alive]. Therefore, we intend to present observations on an article – written by Abdulrahman al Rashed at Alarabiya news – titled: “Wahhabism, colonialism, and ancient Saudi Arabia”.

[a] Abdulrahman stated: “Today, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates its Founding Day. Since that day almost 300 years ago, Saudi Arabia’s long, great history has been filled with moments of prosperity but also moments of state collapse. Because I am an avid history reader, I find that our yesterdays can help us understand our today and predict our tomorrow”. [End of quote]

Response to the above quote

Firstly, regarding the term Wahhabism, visit Wahhabis.Com | History and Beliefs- By Shaikh Abu Iyaad [may Allaah preserve him]. http://www.wahhabis.com/

Secondly, celebrations in Islam are not to be innovated. Verdict of upright elder Saudi Scholars – Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz and Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saalih Al-Uthaymeen [may Allaah have mercy upon them]: https://salafidawahmanchester.com/2021/10/23/official-holidays-and-festivals-that-are-tantamount-to-bidah-evil-or-corruption-mawlid-national-day-celebrations-israa-wal-miraaj-celebrations-chaharshanbeh-suri/

[b] Abdulrahman stated: The commemoration of Founding Day inevitably raises several debates: was the Saudi state a necessity three centuries ago? Is it true it was founded with the aim of fighting polytheism (“shirk” in Arabic)? Has it really never been colonized by major powers? How did it deal with international conflicts? In 1727, the foundations for a new state were built in the town of Diriyah in the Arab Peninsula, at the time home to dozens of microstates. There had been no central state established since the end of the Rashidun Caliphate. Then came Muhammad bin Saud, successfully eliminating the microstates in independent towns and cities and creating a new, large state. Fleeing the nearby town of Al Uyaynah, Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab sought protection with bin Saud, knowing only he could shield him from harm. Historically, Sheikh Abd-al-Wahhab played an influential role as a religious reformist and as one of Imam Muhammad bin Saud’s men. However, his biography and role were manipulated in the following eras. Najd and the Arabian Peninsula were portrayed as lands of semi-polytheists of which he was the savior. His biography was recounted with such exaggeration it came close to match the biography of the Prophet (PBUH): his call for oneness, his ostracization and migration from Al Uyaynah to Diriyah, his call for Islam, and the wars he waged in its name. The version closer to reality, though, is that the Sheikh was a scholar, and the peoples of Najd and the Peninsula were not polytheists. Abdulrahman then stated: The glorification of his story aimed not at sanctifying the Sheikh himself, but rather those clerics that came after him. Certain groups exaggerated his story in a bid to bestow upon themselves legitimacy to take or partake in power. The state did not, in fact, extend its authority to the different parts of the Arabian Peninsula until after the passing of Muhammad bin Saud and his successor, Abdulaziz bin Saud. Throughout his rule of four decades, Abdulaziz had not given the Sheikh a role or used his assistance. It was in that period that the state prospered, then it expanded north toward Iraq and Syria under the third King, Saud bin Abdulaziz, becoming the largest Arab state since the Abbasid rule. The Life & Struggles of Imām Muhammad ibn ‘Abdul-Wahhāb in the Pursuit & Spread of Sunnah by Abu Khadeejah

[c] Abdulrahman stated: With the rise of the extremist movement in the last few decades, a narrative sanctifying the Sheikh and inflating his role prevailed. The extremists prohibited the suggestion of any different narrative. In his Ph.D. dissertation, entitled “The History of Najd Prior to the Wahhabis”, Dr. Uwaidah Metaireek Al-Juhany recounts that period during which Najd was claimed to be a polytheist land. As any dissenting opinion would likely be met with persecution, Al-Juhany requested that the University of Washington hold off the publishing of his dissertation for another five years. He later found a translation of his dissertation was published in Beirut in a book under his name. In the thesis, which is still deemed an important reference about that era, we discover that the establishment of a central state to unite the dozens of microstates in the fragmented Arabian Peninsula aimed not at spreading Islam, in lands where everyone was Muslim. Instead, the goal was to stop aggressions, looting, and famines in the microstates, mired by conflicts over power and resources, and build a central state instead, as in everywhere else in the world. [End of quote]

Response to the above quote

Firstly, the extremist movements are well-known to the upright callers to pure Islamic monotheism and amonsgt these extremists are the Qutubiyyah, the the Muslim brotherhood and others. Read here By Shaikh Abu Iyaad [may Allaah preserve him] “Bayan Talbis al-Qutbiyyah – Explanation of the Deception of the Qutbiyyah Series”:

Secondly, as for the statement: “Dr. Uwaidah Metaireek Al-Juhany recounts that period during which Najd was claimed to be a polytheist land”, read again: https://abukhadeejah.com/the-state-of-the-region-of-najd-arabia-in-the-time-of-ibn-%ca%bfabdul-wahhab-and-the-first-saudi-state/

Thirdly, as for declaring any Muslim land a polytheist land, then indeed, this is the statement of the Takfeeris and their mentor Sayyid Qubt. Read here by Shaikh Abu Iyaad [may Allaah preserve him] regarding the founder of contemporary Takfeeri movements. http://www.sayyidqutb.com/

[d] Abdulrahman stated: What about the three centuries in which, it is said, the state was not spared colonization, unlike the other countries of the region? There may have been no colonization as in the Levant by European armies, but the Ottomans did invade the land for many years. They colonized large parts of it for decades and were either fighting directly or supplying weapons to other parties in Al-Ahsa, Hijaz, the north, and the south. The English were also present, symbolically, directing the forces of the Sharif of Mecca. They were all driven out during the 30 years of unification battles, which, contrary to popular belief, were not only internal battles. Power and balance in international relations were a delicate process, especially in the pre-WWII era. The British and Germans, and to a lesser degree, the Soviets, were competing to bring Saudi Arabia aboard their alliances. Thus, King Abdulaziz, founder of the third Saudi state, sought to establish a balanced relationship with the major powers, but the British Empire was still the most dominant in the region. [e] Abdulrahman wrote: The King gave the oil concessions to the United States, which had no military presence; sought to buy weapons from Hitler’s Germany, which were delivered to him through other countries, as well as from Italy; and maintained diplomatic relations with Moscow, which was becoming more preoccupied with its domestic issues under Stalin and did not want to anger Britain, either. These Quakes Only Occur In Our Country About Every Such and Such Number of Years!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allaah [The Exalted] said: [ إِنَّ شَرَّ ٱلدَّوَآبِّ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلصُّمُّ ٱلۡبُكۡمُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعۡقِلُونَ – Verily! The worst of (moving) living creatures with Allah are the deaf and the dumb, those who understand not (i.e. the disbelievers)]. [Surah Al-Anfaal. Aayah 22] – Meaning, indeed, the worst of moving creatures on the earth – amongst all the things Allaah has created – in the Sight of Allaah are the deaf whose ears are blocked from hearing the truth, so they do not hear it, and the dumb whose tongues are prevented from uttering truth, so they do not utter it. These are the ones who do not understand Allaah’s commands and prohibitions. (1)

One of the calamities witnessed from the atheists is that when earthquakes occur, they say, “The BGS says that it was a magnitude such and such quake and that such an event only occurs in our country about every such and such number of years”. Indeed, this statement of theirs reminds us of the obstinate sinners of old – those who attributed Allaah’s signs and warnings to the passing of time! Allaah [The Exalted] said:

And We sent no Prophet unto any town (and they denied him), but We seized its people with suffering from extreme poverty (or loss in wealth) and loss of health and calamities, so that they might humiliate themselves (and repent to Allah). Then We changed the evil for the good, until they increased in number and in wealth, and said: “Our fathers were touched with evil (loss of health and calamities) and with good (prosperity, etc.).” So We seized them of a sudden while they were unaware. [Al-A’raaf. 94-95]

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: Meaning, they said, “This is something normal that has not ceased since the earlier and later generations and is still happening among the later generations. At times they were in a state of ease and at other times they encountered hardships; at times there was happiness and at other times there was sorrow, according to the alternation of time periods”. They thought that neither is there an admonition or reminder to pay attention to nor that this is Istidraaj (i.e. being gradually led to destruction whilst they persist in sin), until when they rejoiced in what they were given and this worldly life became the most important thing in their minds, Allaah seized them with punishment “suddenly while they were unaware”- Meaning, it never occured to them that they may encounter destruction, and they thought that they possessed full control over what Allah bestowed on them and that neither will they cease to exist nor leave it behind. (2)

We ask Allaah:

O Allaah! I ask You for well-being in this Dunyaa and the Aaakhirah. O Allāh, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family and my wealth. O Allaah! Conceal my [faults, shortcomings etc] and safeguard me against everything that will bring me fear and sorrow. O Allaah! Protect me from in front, from behind me, from my right and my left, and from above. And I seek refuge with Your Magnificence from being swallowed up from beneath me.

The Relationship Between Sinning And Our Circumstances:

The Relationship Between Sinning And Our Circumstances

[Ref 1: An Excerpt from At-Tafseer Al-Muyassar]
[Ref 2: an Excerpt from Tafseer As-Sadi. slightly paraphrased]

[1] Reality of the Shaikh they claim is the reason behind our so called Ta’assub (bigoted attachment)

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khali [may Allaah preserve him] stated: All praise be to Allaah, and may peace and blessings be upon Allaah’s Messenger, his family, his companions, and those who follow his guidance. To proceed: Indeed, this book of mine was written in the year (1411 AH) to confront a new trend of Ta’assub (bigoted attachment) at that time and I believe that it had an effect on making the truthful Salafis firm upon the truth and unveiled the state of the fake ones who are swept away by blind bigoted attachment and the tides of desires. Today, it is being disseminated again in Salafi websites to treat the diseases of bigoted attachment in the hope that Allaah will benefit people who want to (seek the Pleasure) of Allaah and the home of the Afterlife through their deeds and stances – those whom shaytaan does not have power over them just as Allaah [The Exalted] stated:

إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ لَهُ سُلْطَانٌ عَلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ إِنَّمَا سُلْطَانُهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ يَتَوَلَّوْنَهُ وَالَّذِينَ هُم بِهِ مُشْرِكُونَ

Verily! He (shaytaan) has no power over those who believe and put their trust only in their Lord (Allah). [Surah An-Nahl. Aayah 99]

I ask Allaah to divert shaytaan’s plots from all believers. Indeed, the One Who hears supplication. Written by Rabih Bin Hadi Umayr Al-Madkhali. 10/2/1430 AH [End of quote] (1)

We remind those who utter the statement, “Some youth have Ta’assub (bigoted attachment) to some of the scholars” that we’ll ask them questions during this series, expose their plots and rebuke them for insinuating that we are guilty of Ta’assub due to our stances against Dr Muhammad Bin Haadi. We’ll also quote from Umdatul Abee Fee Raddi Ta’seelaat Wa Dalaalaat Ali Al-Halabi when necessary because there is no doubt that the Mubtadi Ali Al-Halabi and the Mubtadi Abul Hasan al-Maribi, and their staunch followers are the flag-bearers of Ta’assub. Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi [may Allaah preserve him] stated, “Destructive Good Suspicion is to have a good suspicion of the people of falsehood whether are they disbelievers, innovators or evil sinners. And that which led the disbelievers to belie the Messengers, (harbouring) a severe disbelief in them and their message was due to their evil suspicion towards the people of truth (i.e. the Prophets and their true followers), and having a good suspicion of their forefathers and their religions of falsehood and disbelief. Ahlul Bidah such as the Rawaafid, the khawaarij, the soofiyyah, the murji’ah, the qadariyyah and the people of Tahazzub Al-Baatil [false partisanship] are destroyed by good suspicion towards their shuyookh and figureheads, and their corrupt creeds. On the other hand, they are destroyed by their evil suspicions towards the truth and its people. Abul Hasan Al-Maribee and his followers have a share of both this destructive good suspicion and destructive evil suspicion. (2)

[1] Some Youth Have Ta’assub (Bigoted Attachment) to Some of The Scholars!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Some Youth Have Ta’assub (Bigoted Attachment) to Some of The Scholars! – A Statement uttered by some who put up a smokescreen to hide their stances and confuse the unsuspecting listeners

Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khali may Allaah preserve him] said, “The person with the proofs, it is obligatory to take his speech (on the basis) of following Allaah’s Legislation and Proofs, and not (due to) the personality of this person”. (1)

Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Mad’khalee [may Allaah preserve him] said: Indeed, rejecting the statements of scholars (i.e. their sound verdicts) – by way of statements whose apparent meaning is sound, but those who utilise them intend falsehood and evil – has become widespread nowadays. (This statement of truth by way of which falsehood and evil is intended is), “I do not make Taqleed!!” Even though you find him (i.e. the utterer of this statement) to be ignorant, understands nothing (i.e. regarding some or many affairs) in the religion and is one of those who are greatly in need of making Taqleed of the scholars as well as following them. There is (the necessity for) Taqleed and Ittibaa. There is a person who is ignorant and he needs to make Taqleed. Taqleed is a necessity for this person, therefore it is incumbent upon him to make Taqleed of the scholars. (see footnote a) The student of knowledge can understand by way of the proofs that such and such scholar is correct and thus he follows the person with proof [i.e. Ittibaa]. This is a level above Taqleed and below the level of the Mujtahid. Some of them [i.e. the people] might say, “I do not make Taqleed”, even though-in reality- he is a commoner or an evil doer, or a malicious person who desires to speak ill against the scholars and keep the people away from them through these cunning ways. Therefore, let the youth be careful lest they fall into the trap of these fools – those who speak ill of the scholars in such a heedless manner. “I do not make Taqleed of such and such (person)”. We say to him (i.e. the one who utters this statement), “Who commands you to make Taqleed if you are a student of knowledge?! However, if that scholar about whom you say, ‘I do not make Taqleed of him’ has truth with him, then is it permissible to reject the truth through this illusion which you call Taqleed and intend falsehood by way of it?!” I warn the youth against despicable behaviour. It has become rife amongst the common people and prevents them from good manners, (sound adherence to) religion and character. (2)

There are those who have general praise for the Salafi scholars, but they utter a general statement – whilst referring to those who have taken a clear stance against Dr Muhammad Bin Haadi based on knowledge based unambiguous proofs (see footnote b) – saying, “Some of the youth have Ta’assub (bigoted attachment) to some of the scholars”.

Firstly, we ask them to name the scholar for whom we have this bigoted attachment? Secondly, we ask them to clearly state regarding which affair we have manifested this Ta’assub and its knowledge based unambiguous proofs! If they do not produce proof and abandon this general statement by way of which they seek to confuse people so that none can question them about their ambiguous stances, then indeed we remind them that Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “It is obligated on you to give detail and make a distinction, because unrestricted and general (statements) without clarification has indeed corrupted this existence [i.e. the world], and misguided the intellects and views (of the people) in every era”. Al-Allaamah Saalih Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] commented on this statement as follows: “There has to be detail explanation. The one who is not proficient in giving detail should keep quiet, because benefit is not acquired from his speech. And every time error occurs, its cause is due to an absence of detail explanation regarding truth and falsehood. There has to be detail explanation and distinction and not to mix up (affairs). Indeed, it may be that there is something of truth and falsehood in an opponent’s statement, so all of it is neither deemed to be false nor truth; rather there has to be a distinction between its truth and falsehood. All of it is neither rejected nor accepted; rather a distinction is made regarding the truth and what is correct and the falsehood and error in it. And if you are not proficient in giving detail, then you should not enter into this field”. (3)

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “The basis of Banee Adam’s misguidance is as a result of general terms and ambiguous meanings [i.e. terms and meanings which can either be utilised for truth or falsehood when not explained in detail and distinguished], especially if they come in contact with a confused mind, then how about when desires and misguided enthusiasm is added to that! Therefore, ask the One Who keeps the hearts steadfast [i.e. Allaah] to keep your heart firm upon the Religion he has ordained and not allow you to fall into this darkness”. (3.1)

Thirdly, we remind them to produce proof and speak truth if they are truthful. Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi stated: “The seeker of truth is not diverted from the truth, fairness and justice due to admiration of the big personalities and being amazed by them, for indeed the truth is more worthy to be followed. It is not permissible to drop the proofs for the sake of this or that great man. The principle [rule] of the Muslim – the unbiased one, the seeker of truth – is always: [قُلْ هَاتُوا بُرْهَانَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ -Say, bring forth your proofs if you are truthful]”. [Surah An-Nahl. Verse 64] (4)

“The Earthquake In Turkey and Syria Was Not a Punishment!”

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

“The Earthquake In Turkey and Syria Was Not a Punishment!”

[O Bid’ee! Who Asked You to Make This Statement?]

The Reason Behind Earthquakes

Firstly, Al-Allaamah Muqbil Bin Haadi Al-Waadi’ee [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said:

The People differ concerning earthquakes; some say that it is a natural phenomenon and it has nothing to do with religion, others say that it by Allaah’s decision and pre-decree and it has nothing to do with the sins, and others say that it is warning, and others say that it (occurs) as a result of the sins. The answer to this is: It may occur as a warning, a decision and pre-decree of Allaah and as a result of the sins (of the people). Earthquakes can occur as a warning for those who witness it and are alive. Read full artcle here: https://salafidawahmanchester.com/2019/10/06/part-1-earthquakes-by-shaikh-muqbil-rahimahullaah/

Some social media sermonisers amongst ahlul bidah – due to a desire to seek the approval of the masses – made a specific statement about the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, that it was not due to sin. Indeed, it would have been enough to limit themselves to the statements of the upright scholars, such as what Al-Allaamah Muqbil Bin Haadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated, supplicate for the believers and contribute financially to fulfil the needs of those afflicted. This would have been enough instead of speaking about that which they have no knowledge.

Finally, indeed, what is incumbent is that we ask Allaah to include us amongst those who are thankful when blessed with something, repentant when sinful and patient when afflicted, as stated by Imaam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhaab [may Allaah have mercy upon him] that these are the three sources of happiness. Likewise, we ask Allaah to grant us the ability to worship Him with love, fear and hope. Allaah (The Most High) said:

[إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يُسَارِعُونَ فِي الْخَيْرَاتِ وَيَدْعُونَنَا رَغَبًا وَرَهَبًا ۖ وَكَانُوا لَنَا خَاشِعِينَ – Verily, they (i.e. Prophets) used to hasten on to do good deeds, and they used to call on Us with hope and fear, and used to humble themselves before Us]. [21:90]

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “They used to hasten towards the performance of good deeds and carried them out in the most virtuous times. They carried out those good deeds in a befitting manner and in the manner it is obligated. They never left a virtuous deed they were able to perform; rather they took the opportunity to perform it. And they used to call upon Allaah with Hope and Fear – asking Allaah for those good things that are desired in the worldly life and afterlife. And they used to seek Allaah’s Refuge from those frightening things which bring about harm in this life and the next. So they had fear and hope, and they were not heedless, inattentive and arrogant”. (1)

Love as a pillar of worship is found in statement [الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ – All the praises and thanks be to Allah, the Lord of the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)]. That is because Allaah is the Bestower of all favours [or blessings] and the Bestower of blessings [or favours] is loved in accordance with the favours [or blessings] He bestows, and [الْحَمْدُ] is to praise alongside having love for the one who is praised.

Hope as a pillar of worship is found in the statement [الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ -The Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful]. That is because the believer hopes for Allaah’s Mercy and desires its attainment.

Fear as a pillar of worship is found in the statement [مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّين -The Only Owner (and the Only Ruling Judge) of the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)]. [يَوْمِ الدِّين – The Day of Recompense] is the day of reckoning.

Then the statement [إِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسۡتَعِينُ – You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything)] follows thereafter, which means: O our Lord! We worship You based on those aforementioned pillars- love, hope and fear. These are the three pillars upon which[إِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسۡتَعِينُ is established. They have also been mentioned in Surah Al-Israa Ayah 57]

[أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدۡعُونَ يَبۡتَغُونَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمُ ٱلۡوَسِيلَةَ أَيُّہُمۡ أَقۡرَبُ وَيَرۡجُونَ رَحۡمَتَهُ ۥ وَيَخَافُونَ عَذَابَهُ ۥۤ‌ۚ إِنَّ عَذَابَ -Those whom they call upon [like ‘Iesa (Jesus) – son of Maryam (Mary), ‘Uzair (Ezra), angel, etc.] desire (for themselves) means of access to their Lord (Allah), as to which of them should be the nearest and they [‘Iesa (Jesus), ‘Uzair (Ezra), angels, etc.] hope for His Mercy and fear His Torment].

In the above Ayah, the statement ”desire (for themselves) means of access to their Lord (Allah)” means seeking to get close to Allaah through love and doing what He loves. Then Allaah stated, ”(They) hope for His Mercy and fear His Torment”. Therefore in this Ayah, love, fear and hope are mentioned, and likewise stated in Surah Al-Anbiyaa: [إِنَّهُمۡ ڪَانُواْ يُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلۡخَيۡرَٲتِ وَيَدۡعُونَنَا رَغَبً۬ا وَرَهَبً۬ا‌ۖ وَڪَانُواْ لَنَا خَـٰشِعِينَ – Verily, they used to hasten on to do good deeds, and they used to call on Us with hope and fear, and used to humble themselves before Us].

Therefore, a slave (i.e. the one who worships Allaah alone) must combine these three pillars [love, fear and hope] in his (or her) acts of worship and remembrance of Allaah. It is not permissible to worship Allaah with only one of them without the others, such as worshipping Allaah with love alone without fear and hope, or worshipping Allaah with hope alone, or worshipping Allaah with fear alone. And due to this, some of the scholars said, ”Whoever worships Allaah with love alone is a heretic and whoever worships Allaah with fear alone is a Harooree (i.e. from the Khaarij), and whoever worships Allaah with hope alone is a Murji, and whoever worships Allaah with love, fear and hope is a believer and person of Tawheed. (2)

Al-Allaamah Saaheh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] said: We should know that fear of Allah should be combined with love and hope, so that fear does not become a cause of giving up hope in Allaah’s Mercy. A believer should have both fear of Allaah and hope in Allaah’s Mercy, so that fear alone does not lead him to give up hope in Allaah’s mercy, nor will hope alone make feel secure from Allaah’s plan. That is because giving up hope in Allaah’s Mercy and feeling secure from Allaah’s plan are two affairs that negate perfect Tawheed. Allaah [The Most High] said: [فَلَا يَأۡمَنُ مَڪۡرَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلۡقَوۡمُ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرُونَ – None feels secure from the Plan of Allah except the people who are the losers]. [7:99]

And Allaah [The Most High] said: [إِنَّهُ ۥ لَا يَاْيۡـَٔسُ مِن رَّوۡحِ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلۡقَوۡمُ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرُونَ – Certainly no one despairs of Allah’s Mercy, except the people who disbelieve.” [12:87]

And Allaah said: [ وَمَن يَقۡنَطُ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ رَبِّهِۦۤ إِلَّا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ – “And who despairs of the Mercy of his Lord except those who are astray. [15:56] Ismaa’eel Ibn Raafi (may Allaah have mercy upon him) said, ”Feeling secure from Allaah’s plan is when the slave is persistent in committing sin, whilst hoping for Allaah’s forgiveness’’. The Scholars say, ”Despair is to distance oneself from having hope for relief and losing hope in that, and it is the opposite of feeling secure from Allaah’s plan. Both these two affairs are a great sin. It is neither permissible for a believer to adhere to fear alone, and thus despairs of Allaah’s Mercy, nor should he adhere to hope alone, and thus feels secure from Allaah’s punishment; rather he should have fear and hope – fearful due to his sins, performs acts of obedience to Allaah and hopes for Allaah’s Mercy, just as Allaah [The Most High] stated:

إِنَّهُمۡ ڪَانُواْ يُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلۡخَيۡرَٲتِ وَيَدۡعُونَنَا رَغَبً۬ا وَرَهَبً۬ا‌ۖ وَڪَانُواْ لَنَا خَـٰشِعِينَ

Verily, they used to hasten on to do good deeds, and they used to call on Us with hope and fear, and used to humble themselves before Us. [21:90]

And Allaah said: [ أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدۡعُونَ يَبۡتَغُونَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمُ ٱلۡوَسِيلَةَ أَيُّہُمۡ أَقۡرَبُ وَيَرۡجُونَ رَحۡمَتَهُ ۥ وَيَخَافُونَ عَذَابَهُ ۥۤ‌ۚ إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ كَانَ مَحۡذُورً۬ا – Those whom they call upon [like ‘Iesa (Jesus) – son of Maryam (Mary), ‘Uzair (Ezra), angel, etc.] desire (for themselves) means of access to their Lord (Allah), as to which of them should be the nearest and they [‘Iesa (Jesus), ‘Uzair (Ezra), angels, etc.] hope for His Mercy and fear His Torment. Verily, the Torment of your Lord is something to be afraid of! [17:57]

When fear of Allaah and hope in Allaah are combined, it urges a slave (i.e. a worshipper of Allaah) to perform deeds and utilise the beneficial means to that; for indeed alongside having hope in Allaah’s Mercy, he performs acts of obedience and hopes for reward; and by way of fear, he abandons disobedience due to being fearful of Allaah’s punishment. But if he despairs of Allaah’s Mercy, he may stop performing righteous deeds, and if he feels secure from Allaah’s punishment, he is pushed towards acts of disobedience. (3)

Civilised Charlie Hebdo’s Satire About Those Afflicted By Recent Earthquake!

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Civilised Charlie Hebdo’s Satire About Those Afflicted By Recent Earthquake In Turkey and Syria – [An Another Manifestation of The Filth of Extreme Freedom of Speech]

Allaah [The Most High] said:

وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَن تَذْبَحُوا بَقَرَةً ۖ قَالُوا أَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوًا ۖ قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ

And (remember) when Musa (Moses) said to his people: “Verily, Allah commands you that you slaughter a cow.” They said, “Do you make fun of us?” He said, “I take Allah’s Refuge from being among Al-Jahilun (the ignorants or the foolish). [2:67]

A Jaahil (ignorant one) is that one who speaks with a speech that contains no benefit and he mocks at the people. As for a sensible person, he sees that one of the most blameworthy traits -which is abhorred by (sound) religion and intellect- is to mock at someone who is a human being like himself. And if he has been favoured over another person, then this favour necessitates that he thanks Allaah and shows mercy to Allaah’s servants. Therefore, when Musa [peace be upon him] said this to them [i.e. I take Allaah’s Refuge from being among the ignorant], they knew that it (i.e. what he commanded them) was truth, so they said: [ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّن لَّنَا مَا هِيَ -call upon your Lord for us that He may make plain to us what it is!(2:68)] (1)

Allaah [The Most High] said:

Verily! There was a party of My slaves, who used to say: “Our Lord! We believe, so forgive us, and have mercy on us, for You are the Best of all who show mercy!” But you took them for a laughingstock, so much so that they made you forget My Remembrance while you used to laugh at them! Verily! I have rewarded them this Day for their patience, they are indeed the ones that are successful.’’ [Soorah Al-Muminoon: Aayaat: 109-111]

Allaah informed us that He rewarded them for their patience, just as He [The Most High] said in another Aayah: [وَجَعَلْنَا بَعْضَكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ فِتْنَةً أَتَصْبِرُونَ – And We have made some of you as a trial for others: will you have patience?]

Az-Zujaaj [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said, “Meaning, will you not exercise patience when afflicted and indeed you know what the patient ones will receive?!” I (Ibnul Qayyim) say: Allaah [Glorified be He and One free is He from all imperfections] connected affliction with patience in this ayah and also in His statement:

[ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لِلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا فُتِنُوا ثُمَّ جَاهَدُوا وَصَبَرُوا — Then, verily! Your Lord for those who emigrated after they had been put to trials and thereafter strove hard and fought (for the Cause of Allah) and were patient] [Soorah An-Nahl Ayah 110]

There is no remedy like patience for the one put to trial! If one exercises patience, then that trial becomes a [source] of purification and rescue from sins, just as the bellows purify gold and silver. Trials are the bellows of the hearts and the test for one’s Eemaan, and by way of it the truthful one is distinguished from the liar. Allaah [The Most High] said:[وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۖ فَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْكَاذِبِينَ – And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allah will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars, (although Allah knows all that before putting them to test)] [Soorah Al-Ankabut: Ayah: 3]

Trials categorize the people into truthful ones and liars, believers and hypocrites, good and wicked. So, whoever exercises patience in facing trials, then this is a mercy for him [or her] and a safety from a greater trial due to his [or her] patience. And whoever does not exercise patience in facing a trial will fall into a trial more severe than it. (2)

Filthy Statements

Allaah [The Exalted] stated: [ ٱلۡخَبِيثَـٰتُ لِلۡخَبِيثِينَ وَٱلۡخَبِيثُونَ لِلۡخَبِيثَـٰتِ‌ۖ وَٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتُ لِلطَّيِّبِينَ وَٱلطَّيِّبُونَ لِلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ‌ۚ – Evil words are for evil men, and evil men are (subjected) to evil words].

Charlie Hebdo Cartoon

In the above picture, they stated in French, “Did not even need to send tanks”. Then they presented destroyed buildings, an overturned car and wreckage. This is the malice harboured in the hearts of French militant secularists at Charlie Hebdo- vile and spiteful Islamophobes. However, if it is the case that they even mocked at the most virtuous and noblest human being – the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him], then what else do we expect from them when dealing with others?! Allaah [The Exalted] said: [قَدۡ بَدَتِ ٱلۡبَغۡضَآءُ مِنۡ أَفۡوَٲهِهِمۡ وَمَا تُخۡفِى صُدُورُهُمۡ أَكۡبَرُ‌ۚ – Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, but what their breasts conceal is far worse].

However, the rightly guided followers of the Sunnah do not go into extremes – like the Takfeeris – to physically attack these vile militant secularists, rather we ask Allaah to guide them or break their backs Aameen.

O Youth! Cliques – Whether In a House, WhatsApp or Telegram – Are Mostly Deprived of These Blessings

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allaah [The Most High] said:

O you who believe! When you are told to make room in the assemblies, [spread out and] make room. Allah will give you [ample] room [from His Mercy]. And when you are told to rise up, rise up. Allah will exalt in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge. And Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do. [58:11]

This is a practical code of behaviour commanded by Allaah to His believing slaves- that when they come together in one of their gatherings, some of them or some of those who have already arrived should make room (for others), because indeed it is from good etiquettes to make room for him (i.e. the other person) to reach his goal. And this is not to harm the one who is (already) in the gathering in anyway; rather he enables his (Muslim) brother to reach his goal without him being harmed, and reward is given in accordance with a deed. Indeed, whoever makes room, Allaah makes room for him, and whoever shows generosity to his brother, Allaah will show him generosity.

[وَإِذَا قِيلَ انْشُزُوا – And when you are told to rise up]- Meaning: To rise up and retire from your gathering for an [obligatory or important] need [i.e. prayer etc], then [فَانْشُزُوا – rise up] – Meaning: proceed towards the fulfilment of that beneficial affair, for indeed the fulfilment of the likes of these affairs is connected to knowledge and Eemaan. And Allaah [The Most High] will exalt in degree the people of knowledge and Eemaan in accordance with what He has portioned out for them from knowledge and Eemaan.

[وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِير -And Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do]- Meaning: Allaah [The Most High] rewards every performer of deeds in accordance with his [or her] deeds-if they are good, there will be good recompense, and if evil deeds, there will be an evil recompense. And in this Ayah [i.e. 58:11] is [a mention] of the virtue of knowledge, whose beautification and benefit is that one disciplines [himself or herself] with its etiquettes and act in accordance with what it necessitates. Allaah (The Most High) said:

There is no good in most of their private talks, except him who commands Sadaqah (charity in Allah’s Cause), or all the good and righteous deeds which Allah has ordained, or conciliation between mankind, and he who does this, seeking the good Pleasure of Allah, We shall give him a great reward. [Surah An-Nisaa: Ayah 114]

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: There is no good in most of their private conversations; therefore, if there is no good in it, then there will be no benefit in it, such as excessive permissible speech, speech that is evil and completely harmful and all types of unlawful speech. Then Allaah [Glorified be He and free is He from all imperfections] made an exception, saying: [إِلَّا مَنۡ أَمَرَ بِصَدَقَةٍ – except him who commands Sadaqah (charity in Allaah’s Cause)]- Meaning, through wealth, knowledge or any means of benefit. And included in this are the lesser acts of worship, such as Tasbeeh (the utterance of SubhaanAllaah) and Tahmeed (the utterance of Alhamdulil-laah) and what is similar, as the Prophet said, “Indeed, every Tasbeeh (utterance of Subhaanallaah) is sadaqah, and every Takbeer (utterance of Allaahu Akbar) is Sadaqah, and every Tahleel (utterance of Laa-ilaaha-ilal-lah) is Sadaqah, and Enjoining Good is Sadaqah, and Forbidding Evil is Sadaqah, and even when one of you has sexual intercourse [with his wife], there is Sadaqah in that”’.

Then Allaah [Glorified be He and free is He from all imperfections] said: [أَوۡ مَعۡرُوفٍ – Or (one) who orders Maruf] – Meaning, perfection in worship and obedience, every good in the Islamic legislation and everything whose goodness is known by way of sound intellect [i.e. not in opposition to the Islamic legislation]. And whenever ‘Enjoining Good’ is mentioned and ‘Forbidding Evil’ is not mentioned alongside it, ‘Forbidding Evil’ is also included. That is because to abandon what is prohibited is part of good deeds and good deeds cannot be complete except by abandoning evil. And with regards to companions (or associates), Ma’roof is explained to mean commanding (good) and Munkar means to abandon what is prohibited. (2)

Al-Allaamah Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] stated, “Therefore, a person should not leave the people in dispute; rather it is incumbent upon him to be eager to bring about conciliation between disputing parties, especially relatives. As for some people-and Allaah’s Protection is sought, they only bring into disputes that which will increase it. This type of person is a shaytaan. Also the one who seeks to bring about conciliation between the people should do that with justice; he should not oppress any of them or judge based on desires”. (3)

Imaam As-Sadi [may Allaah have mercy upon him] stated: When you sit with the people, make humility the sign by which you are recognized. Fear of Allaah should be your shield and giving advice to the servants of Allaah as your constant habit. Be eager to (make) every gathering in which you sit one of goodness- either research into affairs of knowledge or advice on religious matters; either directing (others) towards a general or a particular beneficial affair, or making a mention of the blessings of Allaah; either making a mention of the superior status of praiseworthy manners and good etiquettes or warning against that which is detrimental to the well-being of one’s religious or worldly (affairs). The least of this (i.e. your companionship and advice to those you sit with) is that the earnings from their occupations should be by way of permissible (means) and not what is forbidden. Behave well towards the young, the old and your peers. Deal with each of them in a way they deserve and have respect for the one who deserves to be respected and honoured. Be eager to make your congregation relaxed by way of speech that is appropriate and good, even if that was in relation to the worldly (affairs). The sensible and determined person achieves abundant goodness through the gatherings of the people and he becomes more beloved to them than all (beloved things). This is because he approaches the people with what they approve (i.e. good) and statements they desire, and the foundation in this is success in taking over control of all the affairs placed before them. And these affairs (i.e. good advice and companionship) become more emphasized on a journey, because during a journey sitting together is prolonged and the travellers are in need of having someone who revives their hearts with good statements, the news of events and joke–if all of that is truth and not too much–and to assist them with the essential affairs of travel. And Allaah is the One Who grants all success. (4)
