[21] The Ascent and Decline of The Ottoman Empire- [Sultan Ahmad (I) rose to the throne at the age of 14]

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Ahmed I – [1012 – 1026 AH / 1603 – 1617 CE] ascended to the throne at the age of 14 following the death of his father, an achievement unmatched by any previous Ottoman sultan at such a young age. The state was in a state of considerable turmoil due to its involvement in the wars against Austria in Europe, the conflict with Persia, and internal revolts in Asia. He continued the military preparations initiated by his father.

Firstly: The War with Austria and European States:

Sultan Ahmad appointed Lala Muhammad Pasha as the Grand Vizier, succeeding the previous Grand Vizier, Hasan Pasha. Lala Muhammad Pasha was a distinguished commander who led the armies that fought in Austria. He focused on strengthening the Ottoman forces, besieging and capturing the fortress of Istragon. Additionally, he engaged in battles against the principalities of Wallachia, Moldavia, and Transylvania, ultimately negotiating peace with them. Upon the death of Lala Pasha, he was succeeded by Kubaji Murad Pasha as Grand Vizier, who had previously commanded one of the army divisions. The Ottoman armies achieved a significant victory over Austria, successfully reclaiming fortified castles from the cities of Yanik, Estragon, Belgrade, and others. Additionally, the forces excelled in their campaign in Hungary, defeating Austria in that region as well. Consequently, this led to Austria’s acceptance of peace negotiations and the payment of a tribute to the Ottoman Empire amounting to two hundred thousand gold ducats. As a result of this treaty, Hungary remained under the dominion of the Ottoman Empire. Naval conflicts occurred between Ottoman ships, Spanish vessels, the Knights of St. John in Malta, and the Italian states, with victories alternating between the opposing sides.

Secondly: Renewal of Privileges:

The state renewed the privileges granted to France and England, as well as the agreement with Poland, which prohibits the Crimean Tatars from encroaching upon Polish territory, while Poland is to prevent the Cossacks from infringing upon the Ottoman Empire. The Netherlands also acquired privileges, which they exploited to introduce tobacco within the Islamic territories. This led to its consumption among soldiers, prompting the mufti to issue a fatwa against it. In response, the soldiers revolted, supported by officials, forcing the scholars to remain silent on the matter. Thus, the soldiers began to follow their desires and oppose the scholars. Foreign, non-believing powers were keen on spreading every forbidden thing among Muslims. Allah, the Exalted, has permitted us to enjoy beneficial and wholesome things while prohibiting harmful substances that can affect our bodies, minds, and wealth. Consequently, scholars—may Allah have mercy on them—issued fatwas declaring the consumption, sale, and purchase of tobacco to be forbidden due to its religious, worldly, social, and health-related harms, which include: [1] It is smoke that neither nourishes nor satisfies hunger. 2. It is detrimental to precious health, and anything harmful in this way is prohibited. 3. It is classified among the forbidden impurities, as Allah said: “And He makes lawful for them the good things and prohibits for them the evil” (Al-A’raf: 157). 4. The smell of smoke is harmful to those who do not use it etc. Scholars cited various pieces of evidence; however, due to the weak educational motivation and the diminished authority of the state responsible for enforcing the laws, insubordination may arise among soldiers and individuals.

Thirdly: The War with the Safavid Shiites (Persians):

Shah Abbas of the Safavid dynasty seized the opportunity presented by the turmoil within the Ottoman Empire and initiated efforts to liberate Persian Iraq. He occupied Tabriz, Ujan, and other regions, ultimately managing to take Baghdad and sites in Najaf, Karbala, and Kufa. During his visit to these sites, he displayed great reverence and veneration. Some historians note that he spent ten days in Najaf, personally attending to the people there. He also imposed severe punishments on the Sunni adversaries of the state, often resorting to execution or blinding. He showed no leniency towards them unless they renounced their perceived heretical beliefs and pledged allegiance to the Shiite faith. [Footnote a]

The Ottoman Empire was compelled to cede to the Safavid Shiite state all the regions, countries, castles, and fortresses that had been conquered by the Ottomans during the reign of Sultan Sulayman, including the city of Baghdad. This marked the first treaty in which the empire relinquished some of its conquests, signaling the onset of decline and weakness, and it was the first agreement that indicated the diminishing power of the Ottoman state.

Shah Abbas I of the Safavid dynasty exhibited an extreme animosity towards the Sunnis. He established connections with Christian monarchs and, in a bid to undermine the Ottoman Empire, the protector of Sunni Islam (at the time). He entered into cooperative agreements with them aimed at destabilizing the foundations of the Sunni Ottoman state and was even willing to make numerous concessions to European nations as a demonstration of his collaboration, driven by his hostility towards the Ottoman Empire. He treated Christians in Iran favorably, in contrast to his treatment of Sunni Muslims. His preferential treatment of Christians led to a revitalization of Christian missionary activities within the country. Additionally, he encouraged European merchants to engage in substantial trade agreements with Iranian traders, transforming Iran into a thriving market for European commerce. His tolerance towards Christians culminated in his decree in 1007 AH / 1598 CE, which prohibited any harm against them and granted them the freedom to move about within the Safavid state. The decree issued by the Shah of the Safavid state stated the following:

From this day forward, citizens of the Christian faith, as well as those who adhere to their religion, are permitted to enter any part of our homeland. No individual shall, under any circumstances, insult them. In light of the amicable and loving relations we maintain with Christian monarchs, Christian merchants are allowed to travel throughout Iran and conduct their business in any area of the country without facing harm from anyone, whether they be a ruler, prince, khan, official, or state subordinate. Furthermore, all goods brought by them for trade shall be exempt from taxation. No individual, regardless of their status, shall interfere with them or impose burdens upon them. Additionally, religious leaders, irrespective of their sects, are prohibited from harming them or engaging in discussions regarding doctrinal beliefs. He extended courtesies to Christians, celebrating their festivals. This treatment of Christians was a strategic move aimed at undermining the Sunni Ottoman Empire. [Footnote b]

Fourthly: Separatist Movements:

During the reign of Sultan Ahmad I, internal movements emerged with the aim of undermining the structure and integrity of the state. Notable among these were the movements led by Jan Bolad, a Kurdish leader, and the governor of Ankara, Qalandar Oglu, as well as the movement of Fakhr al-Din al-Druzi, the grandson of Fakhr al-Din al-Ma’ani I, who had allied with Sultan Salim I upon his entry into Syria in the year 922 AH. These movements caused significant internal unrest, prompting the state to appoint a seasoned minister whose advanced age had endowed him with extensive experience and knowledge, leading to his appointment as Grand Vizier, where he became a crucial support for the young sultan. He successfully defeated the rebels, particularly the Anatolian insurgent Qalandar Oglu, who had been appointed governor of Ankara. The state took decisive action against him, and Grand Vizier Kuyucu Murad Pasha succeeded in purging Anatolia of these insurgents.

The passing of Sultan Ahmad I was marked by his profound piety and dedication to religious duties. He actively managed state affairs and exhibited humility in his attire. Known for his frequent consultations with scholars and leaders, he held a deep affection for the Prophet. During his reign, the practice of sending curtains to the Kabh from Istanbul began in 1617, a tradition that had previously been carried out from Egypt. Islam has granted rights to non-Muslims residing in a Muslim state, particularly to Jews and Christians. This is an important aspect to understand. Read below:

Muslim leaders are tasked with implementing these principles to serve the interests of the Muslims, fulfill their sacred duties, and maintain the integrity of the Islamic faith, wheras what is well-known throughout Islamic history is that the Rafidah extend a preferential disposition towards non-Muslims for the purpose of subjecting Sunnis to unjust treatment. This behaviour is a calculated strategy to undermine the Sunnis and promote their heretical beliefs and practices. The Sunnis alone possess the capacity to challenge these erroneous beliefs of the Rafidah and elucidate to non-Muslims the distinctions between Islam and the polytheism propagated by the Rafidah. They said, “We have killed the Messiah, son of Maryam, Allah’s Messenger” Part 1

In The Name of Allah, The Most` Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

And [for] their saying, “Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah.” And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but the resemblance of ‘Iesa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man), and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not [i.e. ‘Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)]: But Allah raised him [‘Iesa (Jesus)] up (with his body and soul) unto Himself (and he is in the heavens). And Allah is Ever All-Powerful, All-Wise. [An-Nisa 157-158]

Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah].

Imam Ibn kathir, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: (Meaning):

We (i.e. the plotters) have killed this one (i.e. Jesus) who claimed this position (or rank) for himself”. This statement was made from the angle of false accusation and mockery, similar to the statement of the polytheists: [يا أيها الذي نزل عليه الذكر إنك لمجنون – O you to whom the Reminder has been revealed, indeed you are insane]. [Al-Hijr 6]

“The Rabis of the Jews (at that time) when Allah sent Isa (Jesus), the son of Mary, with clear signs and guidance, they envied him for the prophethood and the remarkable miracles bestowed upon him. These miracles included healing the blind and the leprous, as well as raising the dead by Allah’s permission. He fashioned a bird from clay, breathed into it, and it became a living bird that flew by Allah’s will, among other miracles that Allah honored him with and manifested through his hands. Despite this, they belied and opposed him, and endeavored to harm him in every possible way unil the Prophet Jesus, peace be upon him, could not reside among them in the town; instead, he and his mother, peace be upon them, frequently traveled. Yet, this was not enough to satisfy them, as they sought the king of Damascus at that time—a man who was a polytheist and a worshiper of celestial bodies, known as the Greeks. They reported to him that there was a man in Jerusalem who was misleading the people and corrupting the king’s subjects. This infuriated the king, prompting him to write to his deputy in Jerusalem, instructing him to take precautions against the mentioned individual, to crucify him, and to place a crown of thorns upon his head, in order to stop harm on the people”…until the point at which Imam Ibn Kathir stated:

“Indeed, Allah has clarified and elucidated the matter in the magnificent Quran, which He revealed to His noble Messenger, supported by miracles, clear signs, and evident proofs. He, (Allah) – [The Most truthful in speech, the Lord of the entire existence, the one who knows the secrets and innermost thoughts, knows the hidden in the heavens and the earth, knows all that has occurred, all that is to occur (and occurring), and all that did not occur and how it would have occurred if it was to occur] – stated: [وما قتلوه وما صلبوه ولكن شبه لهم – And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but the resemblance of ‘Iesa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man)]. They saw someone resembling him and mistakenly believed it to be him, thus Allah stated: [وإن الذين اختلفوا فيه لفي شك منه ما لهم به من علم إلا اتباع الظن – and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture]. [وما قتلوه يقينا بل رفعه الله إليه – For surely; they killed him not [i.e. ‘Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)]: But Allah raised him [‘Iesa (Jesus)] up (with his body and soul) unto Himself (and he is in the heavens)]. Meaning, those among the Jews who claimed to have killed him and those among the ignorant Christians who believed the same; all of them are in doubt, confusion, misguidance, and error. Thus, Allah stated: [وما قتلوه يقينا – For surely; they killed him not] – Meaning, they were not certain it was him, but rather were in doubt and delusion. [1]

[وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ وَلَكِنْ شُبِّهَ لَهُمْ – And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but the resemblance of ‘Iesa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man)].

Shaikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

This statement was directed towards the Jews (i.e. those among them who plotted against Isa), and dispraised them for their actions. The Christians were not mentioned because it was those (particular) Jews who were responsible for the crucifixion of the one who was likened to Isa. None of the Christians were present with them; in fact, the disciples were fearful and absent, thus no one among them witnessed the crucifixion. Instead, it was those Jews who informed the people that they have crucified the Messiah. The accounts of His crucifixion that reached both Christians and others originated from those Jews, who were agents of oppression. They were not numerous enough to prevent their agreement on lying”. [2]

Imam Ibn Hazm, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

The Christians themselves acknowledged that they did not endevour to get hold of his body during the day due to fear of the public; instead, they took him at night after the people had dispersed following the Passover. Furthermore, it is stated that he remained on the cross for only six hours during the day and was taken down shortly thereafter. The crucifixion allegedly occurred in a location distant from the city, in a garden owned by a potter, which is not a recognised site for crucifixions. After all of this, it would be that they established a context to say that his companions would have run off with his body (in secret) and that Maryam Magdalene, a woman among the common people, did not approach the site of the crucifixion but stood at a distance, observing everything as described in their Gospel. This undermines the notion that the crucifixion was reported (and witnessed) by all people (or numerous people) because it appears to be a concealed and colluded event.

At that time, according to the Gospel, the disciples were fearful for their own safety, fled and remained hidden. And that Peter entered the house of Caiaphas the priest during daylight, so he said to him, “Are you one of Jesus’s associates?” However, he denied this and fled the premises; then how about the claim that it was reported by everyone! This is the meaning of the verse [ولكن شبه لهم – but the resemblance of ‘Iesa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man)], meaning, those wicked individuals who orchestrated this falsehood conspired together and misled their followers into believing that they had crucified and killed him, despite knowing that this was a lie.

It was never the case that everyone reported the [alleged killing of Isa, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him], but even if it were true that they did, then how could it not be possible regarding the fact that every miracle does alter natural phenomena and changes the way senses normally perceive things? If it were indeed the case that everyone saw (or reported) it, then Allah’s statement regarding this event is that He likened another person to Isa, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and blocked their perceptions in the manner they perceived it, (so they thought that it was him who was crucified whereas, it was someone else). This event would be comparable to the migration of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, at night, during which a hundred men from Quraysh, sought after him, yet Allah concealed their vision from him, preventing them from seeing him. However, as for what is not established based on Allah’s statement that He made something appear in a way that is not what is seen or perceived in reality, it would not be permissible to regard it as such, as it leads to an impossibility. Thus, the changing of nature and natural things from what they are in reality cannot be considered possible unless there is definitive proof from Allah, which must be accepted. [Footnote a] But the reality of something can be misperceived by one or two individuals, as well as a result of insanity or foolishness. However, this cannot happen to an entire group (i.e. the populace).

And regarding Allah’s statement: [وما قتلوه وما صلبوه ولكن شبه لهم – And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but the resemblance of ‘Iesa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man)]. This is regarding those who say that Isa, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was crucified due to blindly following their predecessors among the Christians and Jews. These people were (deceived) based on doubtful (ambiguous) report, as they entered into something false that is made to resemble the truth. The evil elders at that time entered them into this falsehood that was made to resemble the truth. The claimants (those Jews who disbelieved in Isa) told them that they killed and crucified him, while they knew that it was not the case; instead, they secretly conspired to kill and crucify him, preventing public attendance, and subsequently claimed to have killed and buried him to mislead the general populace, who were led to believe the false narrative that was made to resemble the truth. [3]

————————————————————–

Footnote a: The miracles of the Prophets and righteous people who adhered/ adhere to the divine revelation without deviation in creed or worship must not be mistaken for the deceptions of magicians, the people of innovation in religious matters and the devils. Shaikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

The Khawariq [Phenomena attributed to something outside the norm] by way of which the devils misguide the children of Adam – such as when the devils take the image of a person who is absent or has passed away and what is similar to this – has misguided many of those who ascribe themselves to the Muslims or to the people of the Scripture. They establish this on two affairs: Firstly, that whoever from whom these khawaariq occurs is a Wali, and according to the term of the Christians he is a Qadees A’dheem – a great saint! Secondly, that the one from whom these khawaariq occurs is therefore infallible, everything he narrates is truth and everything he commands is justice”.

However, it can definitely be the case that neither did a phenomena outside the norm – whether unrelated or related to sound knowledge and piety – occur from such a person nor a phenomena outside the normal related to deeds of the devils; rather the person merely carried out the tricks of the liars and wicked sinners. The tricks of the liars and wicked sinners are numerous indeed, so one thinks that they are amazing events outside the norm, however neither is that the case nor is it something similar to the tricks of the monks. Some people have written books regarding the tricks of the monks, such as the trick reported about one of them changing water into oil- that when the oil is in the interior of the lighthouse, the water gradually reduces and thus the oil floats [or pops up] on the water, so those who are present think that the water has changed into oil. The likes of this affair are numerous from the tricks of those Christians, because all that those Christians possess – those who altered the religion of the Messiah [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] – of activities that are attributed to something out of the norm are either from the devils or they are tricks, and there’s nothing in them related to the miracles of the righteous people.

Likewise, the deviated people – those who seek to alter the religion of Muhammad – adopt a religion that is not legislated by Allah and His Messenger, then they make it a path of worship and give it precedence over the path that is legislated by Allah and His Messenger. For example, they give precedence to listening to sounds from the tambourines and the shrill flutes over listening to the book of Allah, so one of them goes into a state of ecstasy and a satanic trance through which he becomes muddled up with shaytan until he speaks in a language he does not know. Then when he returns to his senses – just as when a jinn speaks through the tongue of the one who is possessed and after informing the people of that which is in his heart and soul, which is from the shaytan, and the shaytan leaves him -, he cannot repeat what he said at first.

The heretics alter the religion of the Messengers – either the religion of the Messiah or seek to alter the religion of Muhammad, and amongst the likes of such people are the proponents of hearsay, misguidance, the disbelievers, the polytheists, apostates and other than them, such as the likes of Musaylimah the liar, Al-Aswad Al-Unzee, Al-Haarith Ad-Dimashqee, Baabaa Roomee and other than them amongst those who engaged in activities that are considered to be outside the norm [i.e. so called miracles] but [in reality] are related to the deeds of the devils.

As for the tricksters, they are numerous and they are not Awliyaa of Allah. Their so called amazing activities that are outside the norm- if not related to the satanic deeds of the soothsayers and the magicians – a just tricks. They deliberately lie and deceive unlike those connected to the devils, because amongst them is he who deceives, so one thinks that what he does is from the miracles of the righteous people, just as amongst them is one who knows that what he does is from the devils, but he does so in order to achieve his goals.

The intent behind this discussion is that many of the activities that are considered to be outside of the norm [i.e. so called miracles] are either satanic deeds or tricks, so one thinks that they are the true miracles of the righteous people, for indeed that which whose cause is based on Shirk and wicked deeds can only be from the devils, such as when a person associates partners with Allah by invoking the stars, or invokes a person- whether such a person is dead or absent, or he makes an oath through unknown words and statements whose meanings are not known, or he knows that they are names of devils, or seeks aid through lewd conduct and oppression, then such deeds – considered to be outside of the norm that emanates from this – are from the devils.

The righteous people have miracles such as the miracles of the pious people of this Ummah [may Allah have mercy upon them], the miracles of the disciples of the Messiah [may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the Messiah, and may Allah have mercy upon the disciples] and other than them amongst those who were upon the correct and unaltered religion of the Messiah. However, the occurrence of miracles at the hands of the righteous people does not necessitate that they are infallible like the Prophets [peace and blessings of Allah be upon them]; rather it maybe that a righteous man- a Wali – has miracles, but despite this he mixes up by error and makes a mistake in that which he thinks or what he is made to hear or see, or what he sees, or what he understands from the revealed Scripture. And because of this, the statements of those other than the Prophets [peace and blessings of Allah be upon them] can either be accepted or rejected [i.e. based on evidence], but as for the Prophets [peace and blessings of Allah be upon them], it is obligated on a person to affirm truthfully everything they have related regarding the affairs of the unseen and obey them in everything they command. And due to this, Allaah [The Exalted] obligated on a person to believe in everything the Prophets [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon them] brought and did not obligate on a person to believe in everything that comes from others.

Allaah [The Exalted] said:

Say (O Muslims), “We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent down to Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma’il (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Ya’qub (Jacob), and to Al-Asbat [the twelve sons of Ya’qub (Jacob)], and that which has been given to Musa (Moses) and ‘Iesa (Jesus), and that which has been given to the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we have submitted (in Islam).” [Surah Al-Baqarah. Aayah 136]

Allah [The Exalted] said:

It is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, and each and every act of obedience to Allah, etc.) that you turn your faces towards east and (or) west (in prayers); but Al-Birr is (the quality of) the one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the Angels, the Book, the Prophets. [Al-Baqarah. 177]

And because of this the Muslims are all in agreement that the one who disbelieved in a single Prophet whose Prophethood is well known, then he is a disbeliever- an apostate. There is no distinction between one Prophet from the other- by believing in some and disbelieving in others. Allah said:

Verily, those who disbelieve in Allah and His Messengers and wish to make distinction between Allah and His Messengers (by believing in Allah and disbelieving in His Messengers) saying, “We believe in some but reject others,” and wish to adopt a way in between. They are in truth disbelievers. And We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating torment. [Surah An-Nisaa. Aayaat 150-151] [4]

[20] The Ascent and Decline of The Ottoman Empire

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Sultan Muhamamad Khan

He was born in the year 974 AH and ascended to the throne twelve days after his father’s death in 1003 AH, as he was residing in Maghnis. His mother, of Italian descent, was called Safiyyah. Despite the state of weakness and decline that had begun to afflict the Ottoman Empire, the banner of jihad against the Crusaders remained raised. It is noteworthy that this Sultan, upon realising that the empire’s struggles in warfare were due to the absence of the sultans leading the armies personally, he took it upon himself to take command. He assumed the position left vacant by Salim II and Murad III, which was the command of the entire army. He advanced towards Belgrade and then to the battlefields of jihad. Upon his departure, a fervent religious zeal and military pride surged within the troops. He successfully captured the fortified castle of Arlo, which Sultan Sulayman had failed to conquer in 1556. Additionally, he defeated the armies of Hungary and Austria in the Kereszt plain near this castle on October 26, 1596, an event that drew comparisons to the Battle of Mohács, where Sultan Sulayman triumphed in 1526. Following this battle, conflicts persisted without a decisive engagement.

During his reign, the state experienced violent internal revolts led by Qara Yaziji, as well as uprisings initiated by the cavalry. However, the sultan managed to suppress both challenges, albeit with great difficulty. These internal events reveal to the discerning researcher a significant disruption in the military system and its inadequacy in safeguarding the state’s name and honor from its adversaries. Shaikh Saad al-Din Effendi, one of the scholars of Sultan Muhammad III and among those who encouraged him to personally lead the armies, said to him, “I will accompany you until I cleanse my existence of sins, so I shall march forth.” In one of the battles, the Sultan was on the verge of being captured, as his soldiers and aides fled around him. Shaikh Saad urged, “Stand firm, O King; for you are destined to triumph with the assistance of your Lord, who has granted you blessings and favours.” The Sultan mounted his horse, drew his sword, and earnestly prayed to the Almighty. Within an hour, the victory of the One, the All-Powerful, descended upon him. This battle occurred after the conquest of the fortress of Akra.

He had a high level of education and literature, and inclined towards Tasawwuf. [Refer to Footnote a] He passed away after enduring numerous rebellious movements and violent uprisings, leading his armies personally. His death occurred on Sunday, the eighteenth of Rajab in the year 1012, marking the end of his reign which lasted nine years, two months, and two days. He was thirty-eight years old at the time of his passing. [Ad-Dawlah al-Uthaniyyah Awamil An-Nuhud Wa Asbab As-Suqut 6/327-329]

Islamic Awakening

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Al-Allamah Salih Al-Fawzan, may Allah preserve him, said:

All the praises and thanks be to Allah- the Lord of the worlds- and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions. To proceed: The Islamic Awakening did not originate in recent times; rather, it traces back to the moment Allah sent His Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with the message of Islam, and people entered it in crowds and groups. All praise be to Allah, good has persisted within the Ummah, as the Prophet stated, “There will always be a group among my Ummah that (remains) steadfast in the truth. They will not be harmed by those who abandon them or oppose them until Allah’s command uis established (i.e. the Day of Judgement). Despite the ongoing struggle between truth and falsehood, there have consistently been advocates for the truth and their supporters, adhering to the correct methodology. Throughout history, the Ummah has never been entirely dormant or misled to the extent that a faction could claim a distinct identity, such as “Islamic Awakening,” because this would imply that the entire Islamic World was misguided prior to their emergence. This contradicts the Prophet’s statement that “There will always be a group among my Ummah that remains manifest in the truth,” as well as his statement “My Ummah will never unite upon misguidance.”

Indeed, this (revival) is praiseworthy and safe from criticism when it is based on the methodology of the righteous callers and the pious predecessors, grounded in the Book of Allah, the Sunnah, and the path of the pious predecessors of this Ummah – free from associations that contradict the methodology of the pious predecessors. The primary objective should be to gain knowledge of the truth in order to act upon it and promote it, as well as to recognize falsehood to avoid it and caution others against it. This endeavor should not be motivated by a desire for leadership, dominance, insurrection against the main body of Muslims united behind a ruler, or disobedience to Muslim rulers. Such an approach does not align with the correct methodology of Dawah or that of the pious predecessors; instead, it is the methodology of the Khawaarij and the Mutazilah, groups that have strayed from the teachings of the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and the path of the early Muslims. These groups have been a source of shame in Islamic history and a detriment to the Ummah. We beseech Allah to guide the misguided Muslims towards the right path. [19] The Ascent and Decline of The Ottoman Empire

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Sultan Murad III

He rose to the throne after the passing of his father and demonstrated a strong passion for the sciences, literature, and poetry. He was fluent in three languages: Turkish, Arabic, and Persian, and exhibited a preference for Sufism. He provided support to scholars and generously allocated significant funds to soldiers, totaling 110,000 gold lira, which effectively mitigated the unrest that often stemmed from delays in the distribution of these payments. One of his first measures was to enact a decree banning alcohol, which had become prevalent among the people, especially the Janissaries. This decision incited a rebellion among the Janissaries, compelling him to retract his prohibition. This episode underscores the signs of the state’s deterioration, as the sultan struggled to impose the alcohol ban and maintain religious laws. It also reflects a departure of the Janissaries from their foundational Islamic principles of noble upbringing, commitment to Jihad, and aspiration for martyrdom.

He upheld the policies set forth by his father, participating in numerous military campaigns across different regions throughout his reign. In 1574, after King Henry of Poland fled to France, the Ottoman caliph recommended that the Polish leaders elect the Prince of Transylvania as their monarch, a suggestion they accepted, thereby placing Poland under Ottoman protection by 1575. This arrangement was recognized by Austria in a peace treaty with the Ottoman Empire in 1576, which remained in effect for eight years. In 1576, following an incursion by the Tatars into Polish territory, the Polish sought aid from the Ottoman Sultan, who then formally declared their protection through an official treaty. He reinstated privileges with France and Venice, thereby augmenting specific consular and commercial rights in their favor. Significantly, the French ambassador was accorded precedence over all other ambassadors during official ceremonies and governmental gatherings. The surge of ambassadors arriving at the Sublime Porte in pursuit of trade agreements subsequently provided a rationale for genuine intervention in state matters. During the reign of Sultan Murad, Isabella, the Queen of England, obtained exclusive privileges for her merchants, permitting British vessels to display the British flag and gain entry to Ottoman shores and ports.

In the year 985 AH (1577 AD), following the upheaval in Persia after the passing of Tahmasp, the Ottomans initiated a military campaign that effectively covered extensive regions in the Caucasus, resulting in the capture of the city of Tbilisi and Kargestan (Georgia). Later, in 993 AH (1585), the Ottomans advanced into Tabriz, where the sultan’s forces secured dominance over Azerbaijan, Kargestan (Georgia), Shirvan, and Luristan. Upon the ascension of Shah Abbas the Great to the Persian throne, he endeavored to establish a peaceful resolution with the Ottomans, consenting to cede the territories that had fallen under their control. Additionally, he vowed to refrain from disparaging the rightly guided caliphs Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman, may Allah be pleased with them, within his domain, and dispatched a cousin named Haidar Mirza to Istanbul to ensure the adherence to their agreement.

The Janissaries instigated a revolt in the Ottoman provinces after the conclusion of hostilities. The Sultan had dispatched them to engage in combat in Hungary, but they faced defeat at the hands of Austria, which was allied with Hungary. This defeat resulted in the occupation of numerous strongholds, although these were subsequently recaptured by Sinan Pasha. Furthermore, the princes of Wallachia, Moldavia, and Transylvania declared their insurrection and formed an alliance with Austria against the Ottomans. In retaliation, Sinan Pasha launched an offensive against them in 1003 AH / 1594 AD; however, he was unable to secure a victory and lost several cities in the process.

Consequently, the assassination of the Grand Vizier, which stemmed from the machinations within the Sultan’s court, was further exacerbated by foreign agents opposed to the influence of such a capable minister. He was committed to principles of integrity, wisdom, statecraft, effective leadership, meticulous planning, and administrative oversight, while also keeping a close watch on provincial governors and capitalizing on opportunities. His untimely death represented a significant setback and a profound challenge, paving the way for malevolence in the processes of appointing and dismissing grand viziers. This situation fostered a competitive struggle for power that ultimately undermined the sultanate. The ensuing chaos led to instability within the nation, provoking mutinies among certain military factions that the government found difficult to quell. As a result, these internal conflicts and uprisings contributed to Poland’s withdrawal from the Ottoman Empire and its subsequent engagement in hostilities against it.

A faction within the Jewish community perceived that the moment had finally come to fulfill a long-cherished aspiration, leading them to migrate in successive waves to Sinai for settlement. Their initial approach was centered on establishing a foothold in the city of Tor, a strategic decision owing to its favorable position on the eastern coast of the Gulf of Suez, which boasted a port conducive to commercial shipping. This port accommodated vessels from Jeddah, Yanbu, Suakin, Aqaba, and Qulsum, while the city was also linked by land routes to Cairo and Farama. As a result, this arrangement enhanced external communications for the Jewish settlers, safeguarding them from isolation and enabling ships to dock at the port of Tor, thereby facilitating the arrival of new groups of immigrants.

A Jewish individual named Abraham spearheaded a migration initiative, relocating to Al-Tur with his family. Upon their arrival, the Jewish community in Al-Tur created disturbances for the monks residing at St. Catherine’s Monastery. This situation led the monks to submit formal complaints to the Ottoman sultans and their governors, detailing the grievances related to the disruptions caused by these specific Jews. They reminded the authorities of the Ottoman obligation to safeguard their community and cautioned against the settlement of these Jews in Sinai, particularly in Al-Tur, as it could lead to potential unrest. In accordance with Sharia, which mandates the protection of non-Muslims, Ottoman officials were prompted to issue three decrees during the reign of Sultan Murad III. These edicts ordered the expulsion of Abraham, his wife, children, and all other Jews from Sinai, forbidding their future return to the region, including the city of Tor. [Footnote a] Sultan Murad III passed away on January 16, 1595, at the age of 49 and was interred in the courtyard of Hagia Sophia. [1]

————————————-

Footnote a: It is crucial to recognize that the author did not provide an in-depth account of the disturbances, and every situation has multiple perspectives. This necessitates a careful approach when considering blame directed at particular Jews or any individuals involved, whether they are Jewish or non-Jewish, unless clear evidence is presented to clarify the underlying issues. Furthermore, we should not automatically assume that the monks were entirely blameless, as the author did not specify the reasons behind their accusations against certain Jews. Given the historical tensions that may have existed between some Jewish and Christian communities due to religious differences, we must exercise even greater caution in our judgments regarding this particular incident. We are commanded to do justice when passing judgement, as Allah stated:

فلذلك فادع واستقم كما أمرت ولا تتبع أهواءهم وقل آمنت بما أنزل الله من كتاب وأمرت لأعدل بينكم الله ربنا وربكم لنا أعمالنا ولكم أعمالكم لا حجة بيننا وبينكم الله يجمع بيننا وإليه المصير

So unto this (religion of Islam, alone and this Qur’an) then invite (people) (O Muhammad ), and Istaqim [(i.e. stand firm and straight on Islamic Monotheism by performing all that is ordained by Allah (good deeds, etc.), and by abstaining from all that is forbidden by Allah (sins and evil deeds, etc.)], as you are commanded, and follow not their desires but say: “I believe in whatsoever Allah has sent down of the Book [all the holy Books, this Qur’an and the Books of the old from the Taurat (Torah), or the Injeel (Gospel) or the Pages of Ibrahim (Abraham)] and I am commanded to do justice among you, Allah is our Lord and your Lord. For us our deeds and for you your deeds. There is no dispute between us and you. Allah will assemble us (all), and to Him is the final return. [Surah Ash-Shuraa. Aayah 15]

[وَأُمِرۡتُ لِأَعۡدِلَ بَيۡنَكُمُ‌ۖ – and I am commanded to do justice among you]- Meaning, when passing judgement regarding that which you have differed between yourselves; therefore, your enmity and hatred does not prevent me from judging with justice between you. And part of justice is that when judging between people who make different statements – amongst the people of the Scripture and others – one accepts what they possess of truth and reject what they possess of falsehood. [2] [End of quote]

Indeed, we are not in a position to judge precisely what really happened between those monks and Jews because the author did not provide full details. The knowledge of all affairs is with Allah.

Ibn Umar’s Relationship With His Jewish Neighbour

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

A Sheep was slaughtered for Abdullah Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him and his father, so he said to his slave, “Have you given to our Jewish neighbour? Have you given to our Jewish neighbour? I heard the Messenger of Alla, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying, ‘Jibreel did not cease advising me (about the rights of) a neighbour until I thought that he (a neighbour) would inherit from me'”. Utbah Bin Ghazwan

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Umayr  al-Adawi, may Allah have mercy upon him, reported:

Utba Bin Ghazwan, may Allah be pleased with him delivered us a sermon, praised Allah and exalted Him, and then said: To proceed: Verily the world has been given the news of its end, and that too quite early. Nothing would be left out of it but only water left in the utensil which its owner leaves. You are going to shift to an abode which knows no end, and you should shift with the good before you, for we have been told that a stone would be thrown at one side of the Hell and it would go down even for seventy years but would not be able to reach its bottom. By Allah, it would be fully packed. Do you find it something strange? It has been mentioned that there yawns a distance which one would be able to cover in forty years from one end to another of Paradise, and a day would come when it would be fully packed and you must be knowing that I was the seventh amongst seven who had been with Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and we had nothing to eat but the leaves of the tree until the corners of the mouth were injured. We found a sheet which we tore in two and divided between myself and Sa’d Bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him. I made the lower garment with half of it and so did Sa’d make the lower garment with half of it and today there is none amongst us who has not become the governor of a city from amongst the cities (of the Islamic State). I seek refuge with Allah that I should consider myself great whereas I am insignificant in the Sight of Allah. Prophethood does not remain for ever and its impact fades with the result that it changes eventually into kingship, and you would soon come to know and experience those rulers who would come after us and see. Believer’s Bahaviour Towards Muslim Rulers – [Supplicates For Them….]

Appealing to the conscience of the writer, Yonatan Freeman

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Abdullah Ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

“Whoever would love to be delivered from Hellfire and admitted into Paradise, let him meet his end while believing in Allah and the Last Day, and let him treat people as he would love to be treated”. [Ṣaḥiḥ Muslim 1844]

In this article, we will take a moment to discuss the views of Yonatan Freeman, who praises the Zionists while also addressing the loss of life under Netanyahu’s leadership. However, it’s important to note that he does not acknowledge the ongoing genocide and suffering faced by Palestinians due to Netanyahu’s far-right administration in this particular piece. Justice requires us to denounce anyone who unlawfully takes a life, regardless of their background—be it a Zionist, a Muslim, a Hindu, a Rafidi, or others. Next, we will share some of Yonatan’s quotes and provide our thoughts on them.

Yonatan stated: “Since the October 7 massacre, Israel has been undergoing a process of rebirth – both in its internal perception and in the way the world views it”. [end of quote]

Response: Since October 7, the actions of the Zionists have involved war crimes and acts of genocide, aimed at instilling fear and seizing what is not rightfully theirs. Their mindset remains unchanged, as they view themselves as God’s chosen people, which they believe justifies their ongoing brutality under the guise of self-defense. Meanwhile, many around the world perceive the Zionists as mere villains, thieves, and oppressors.

Yonatan stated: “The growing recognition that Israeli actions against Tehran over the past year contributed to the fall of Iran’s ally, Bashar al-Assad, in Syria – as well as the recent decision by The Hague’s International Criminal Court on arrest warrants, which failed to garner significant support in the Western world – should come as no surprise”. [end of quote]

Response: The presence of conflict aside, both the Zionists and the Rafidah are notorious for their questionable conduct. While certain Zionists aspire to expand their territorial claims, subjugating the Palestinian people and frequently invoking the specter of antisemitism to deflect criticism, the Rafidah similarly engage in destabilizing endeavors, often utilizing proxies to further their agenda. As for Netanyahu’s dependence on foreign allies while his Zionist forces perpetuate violence, this reveals a greater faith in human support than reliance on Allah. Those who are truly devout act righteously and place their trust in Allah, while those who persist in wrongdoing lean on worldly support. Ultimately, no one can evade the will of Allah. Allah said:

(They took to flight because of their) arrogance in the land and their plotting of evil. But the evil plot encompasses only him who makes it. Then, can they expect anything (else), but the Sunnah (way of dealing) of the peoples of old? So no change will you find in Allah’s Sunnah (way of dealing), and no turning off will you find in Allah’s Sunnah (way of dealing). Have they not travelled in the land, and seen what was the end of those before them, and they were superior to them in power? Allah is not such that anything in the heavens or in the earth escapes Him. Verily, He is All-Knowing, All-Omnipotent. [35:43-44]

It is not particularly astonishing that Netanyahu’s arrest has not garnered widespread support; rather, what is truly surprising is that those who support him have failed to learn from the fate of historical oppressors and their backers, including figures such as Fir’awn, Haman, Namrud, Bukhtanasar, and their allies. Allah, The Exalted, said:

Those before them indeed plotted, but Allah struck at the foundation of their building, and then the roof fell down upon them, from above them, and the torment overtook them from directions they did not perceive. Then, on the Day of Resurrection, He will disgrace them and will say: “Where are My (so called) ‘partners’ concerning whom you used to disagree and dispute (with the believers, by defying and disobeying Allah)?” Those who have been given the knowledge (about the Torment of Allah for the disbelievers) will say: “Verily! Disgrace this Day and misery are upon the disbelievers. [An-Nahl. 26-27]

[قَدۡ مَڪَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ – Those before them indeed plotted]: The Mufassiroon say that this refers to Namrood who built a tall tower in order to climb – as he claimed – the heavens and fight its inhabitants.

[فَأَتَى ٱللَّهُ بُنۡيَـٰنَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقَوَاعِدِ فَخَرَّ عَلَيۡہِمُ ٱلسَّقۡفُ مِن فَوۡقِهِمۡ – but Allah struck at the foundation of their building, and then the roof fell down upon them, from above them]: The Mufassiroon say: Allah sent a wind which flung the top of the tower to the sea and the rest was destroyed. [وَأَتَٮٰهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ مِنۡ حَيۡثُ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ – and the torment overtook them from directions they did not perceive]: Meaning, from where they thought they were safe. [ثُمَّ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ يُخۡزِيهِمۡ – Then, on the Day of Resurrection, He will disgrace]: Meaning, disgraced with punishment. [1]

[قَدۡ مَڪَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ – Those before them indeed plotted]: Meaning plotted against their Messengers, employed various types of tricks in order to reject that which the messengers brought and established gigantic safeguards [by way of arguments, views etc] on their plots. [فَأَتَى ٱللَّهُ بُنۡيَـٰنَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقَوَاعِدِ – but Allah struck at the foundation of their building]– Meaning, an affair came to them from its basis and foundation [فَخَرَّ عَلَيۡہِمُ ٱلسَّقۡفُ مِن فَوۡقِهِمۡ – and then the roof fell down upon them, from above them] -Meaning, so what they built became a punishment for them.

[وَأَتَٮٰهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ مِنۡ حَيۡثُ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ – and the torment overtook them from directions they did not perceive]: Meaning, that is because they thought that such a building will benefit and protect them from punishment, but their punishment occurred from that which they built and established.

This is one the best of parables regarding how Allah nullifies the plots of his enemies, for indeed they pondered and reflected on that which the Messengers brought when they belied them, made up principles and rules for it based on falsehood, referred back to them to reject that which the Messengers came with, employed tricks to bring discomfort to the Messengers and inflict harm on them and those who followed them, but their plot became a source of evil against them, so their plan became their destruction, because their plot was evil as Allah said: [َلَا يَحِيقُ الْمَكْرُ السَّيِّئُ إِلَّا بِأَهْلِهِ – But the evil plot encompasses only him who makes it]. This is in this worldly life and the punishment in the afterlife would be more disgraceful, and due to this Allah said: [ثُمَّ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَـٰمَةِ يُخۡزِيهِمۡ – Then, on the Day of Resurrection, He will disgrace them]. [2]

Yonatan said: “There has rarely been a moment in Israel’s modern history when most civilized nations not only supported its actions but also appreciated its strength and relied on it for security and economic reasons. This influence is only growing stronger”. [end of quote]

Response: The actions of the Zionists are evident to all, leading many to assess their behavior based on the harsh realities of the destruction and violence they have inflicted. However, this writer views the Zionists in a more positive manner, suggesting that they receive backing from civilized nations due to their power and are seen as essential for economic stability and security. This perspective is not surprising, as historical oppressors, in their fervor for bloodshed and dominance, often proclaimed their superiority in both strength and morality. Allah stated about Fir’awn: Allah said about Fir’awn: [وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ – Fir’aun (Pharaoh) said] – Meaning, with haughtiness and tyranny, whilst deluding his foolish people; [ذَرُونِي أَقْتُلْ مُوسَىٰ وَلْيَدْعُ رَبَّهُ – Leave me to kill Musa (Moses), and let him call his Lord (to stop me from killing him)!]

This was his claim that had it not been for his consideration of the wishes of his people, he would have killed Musa and that (Musa’s) supplication to his Lord would not have prevented him from that. Fir’awn then mentioned what made him want to kill Musa and that he is a sincere adviser to his people, and that he wished to remove mischief from the land. Allaah [The Most High] stated that Fir’awn said: [إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يُبَدِّلَ دِينَكُمْ أَوْ أَنْ يُظْهِرَ فِي الْأَرْضِ الْفَسَادَ – I fear that he (Musa) may change your religion, or that he may cause mischief to appear in the land!” [Ghaafir 26]

This is the most amazing the affair can be! The most evil one among the creation gives advice to the people against the best among the creation. This is (nothing but) disguised falsehood and propaganda, which cannot seize except the intellects of those (people) about whom Allah stated: [فَاسْتَخَفَّ قَوْمَهُ فَأَطَاعُوهُ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ – Thus he Fir’aun (Pharaoh)] befooled and misled his people, and they obeyed him. Verily, they were ever a people who were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).] [Az-Zukhruf 54] [3]

Throughout history, the proud and arrogant figures have consistently turned a blind eye to truth, choosing instead to subjugate those around them. [Refer to Footnote a]

Yonatan stated: “Since the October 7 massacre, Israel has been undergoing a process of rebirth – both in its internal perception and in the way the world views it. The country is simultaneously fighting on seven different fronts, demonstrating impressive military intelligence capabilities and operating a conscription-based military model that critics often claimed was a relic of the past”. [end of quote]

Response: Rather, we remind Yonatan that the situation at hand can be characterised as a series of genocidal actions perpetrated against the Palestinian people by Zionist forces whilst appealing for support – a dynamic that has been witnessed throughout history by tyrants who navigate the complexities of support and opposition. Many have argued that it is not the nation itself that is in conflict, but rather the Zionists and the far-right extremists within their government have used the nation for their own agendas. Their military operations are heavily reliant on the backing of some other nations. May Allah grant the Palestinians relief from this oppression and genocide Ameen.

Yonatan stated: “During this war, Israel is forging a new “manifest destiny” for itself in the international arena: to lead the struggle for freedom, stability, and security – not only in the Middle East but also on the global stage”. [end of quote]

Response: The sentiment evoked by this statement is one of profound ambivalence, oscillating between laughter and tears. Amidst the pervasive corruption observed among the Zionists, the author boldly asserts that they are at the forefront of the global struggle for freedom, a claim that invites skepticism and contemplation. Allah said:

And when it is said to them: ‘’Make not mischief on the earth,” they say: “We are only peacemakers. Verily! They are the ones who make mischief, but they perceive not. [Al-Baqarah 11-12]

Yonatan stated: “While there is a global appreciation for Israel’s resilience, there is also an acknowledgment of the intelligence failure that led to the outbreak of the war, with many comparing it to the surprise Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. However, the more compelling comparison lies not in what caused these events but in how they transformed both nations internally and elevated their standing in the world”. [end of quote]

Response: The notion of global appreciation is a fallacy; instead, what exists is a selective admiration from certain individuals and those who follow their path, who have, both directly and indirectly, facilitated the Zionists in their campaign of oppression against the Palestinian people over the past seven decades. [Refer to Footnote b]

The circumstances that precipitated the war are subject to a multitude of interpretations. However, for those of discerning intellect, the pressing issue at present lies not in what the Japanese did in the past but in the ongoing atrocities perpetrated by the Zionists. No narrative can be crafted to obscure this reality and aiming to paint a future that is commendable. The actions of the Zionists reveal a deepening moral decay, unless Allah grants relief to the Palestinians. While their deeds may elevate their status among those who share their mindset or among the unsuspecting, for those who grasp the truth, the Zionists are merely compounding their transgressions, all the while amassing wealth. This phenomenon is nothing short of Itidraj. Allah said:

Those who reject Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), We shall gradually seize them with punishment in ways they perceive not. And I respite them; certainly My Plan is strong. [7/182-183]

Imam Sufyan Ath-Thawri, may Allah have mercy upon him, said that this means, “Whenever they commit sins, Allah bestows a blessing on them and make them forgetful of seeking forgiveness”. [4]

[سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم – We shall gradually seize them with punishment] – by granting them plentiful provision and respite until they think that they will neither be taken to task for their disobedience nor punished, so they increase in disbelief and transgression, and evil upon evil. And through this their punishment is increased and multiplied, so they harm themselves in ways they perceive not. This is why Allah said: [إِنَّ كَيْدِي مَتِينٌ -certainly My Plan is strong] [End of Quote] [5]

Yonatan stated: “In the American case, the attack on Pearl Harbor, which claimed thousands of lives, compelled the United States to abandon its tendency to isolate itself and shy away from international involvement. Under the leadership of Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry Truman, the US emerged victorious in World War II, becoming a global superpower and the leader of the democratic world”. [end of quote]

Response: While we did not witness those historical events firsthand, we can assert with certainty that before the conflict erupted between Germany and various nations, including the United States, numerous countries in Africa and Asia remained under the oppressive grip of colonialism. Furthermore, prior to this tumultuous period, certain influential demagogues and ideologues from the UK and the US were subtly facilitating the Zionist movement’s ambitions in Palestine. Also, in the aftermath of Germany’s war with other nations, a new world order emerged. Al-Allamah Salih Aala Ash-Shaikh, may Allah preserve him, stated:

A new world order was created when World War II started, which the Allies won. America triumphed over its enemies, leading to the formation of the United Nations. The term “New World Order” did not come about after the Gulf War; it actually began with ideas and principles that arose after World War II. The Major powers use this term when they want to impose something new on society, people, and nations, regardless of their cultural backgrounds. To exert influence over all nations, the main powerful countries aimed to build a new world order after the war. This influence can be cultural, sometimes shown through strong opinions and freedoms, and at other times, it involves interfering in the matters of nations they want to influence. A document with thirty articles was drafted by the United Nations and included in the new international organisation in 1948. Later, revisions and additions were made to the document, which became known as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. With the additions currently made, this document represents the human rights they advocate. The United Nations and Western nations’ support for human rights is centered on two issues: freedom and intergroup equality. Among the provisos were those that forbade specific kinds of dealings and limited the state’s authority over its citizens. Many nations’ affairs were meddled with and dictated by Western nations and the UN; consequently, some nations’ reputations may be damaged as a result of what they failed to do. Due to meddling in their lives, questioning them about what they did to obtain these freedoms, and bringing up specific instances, the interference may be more pronounced. The Declaration of Human Rights has its own circumstances and motivations, as well as goals that support the principles of the main colonial empires. [6]

Yonatan stated: “Similarly, Israel is now undergoing a profound transformation. The Israel-Hamas War is solidifying Jerusalem’s position in the global arena while uniting the Israeli public in its cause. Instead of seeing an exodus, the country has witnessed long lines of those signing up for combat service. The Israeli economy has proven to be both stable and adaptable, establishing local production lines despite the extensive manpower diverted to reserve duty”. [end of quote]

Response: It is undeniable that the actions of Hamas are indefensible in the eyes of any rational individual; nevertheless, it is essential to recognize that Hamas serves as a tool for the Far-right agenda. Read: https://www.abuiyaad.com/w/hamas-israeli-right

Those who stand in support of the Zionists in their acts against the Palestinians, while labeling such actions as unity, are engaging in a union steeped in sin and wrongdoing. Without divine guidance from Allah, this form of unity will ultimately lead to malevolence in the afterlife, where they will turn against one another, as Allah has stated:

On the Day when their faces will be turned over in the Fire, they will say: “Oh, would that we had obeyed Allah and obeyed the Messenger (Muhammad).”And they will say: “Our Lord! Verily, we obeyed our chiefs and our great ones, and they misled us from the (Right) Way. Our Lord! give them double torment and curse them with a mighty curse!” [33: 66-68]

Yonatan stated: “On the diplomatic front, Israel’s position has only grown stronger. The democratic world continues to cooperate with Jerusalem, purchasing military technologies and even sending direct aid. Arab countries that joined the Abraham Accords remain invested in weakening Iran, understanding that such efforts could advance normalization processes with Israel. Not a single Arab country has broken off its relations with Israel since the war’s outbreak”. [end of quote]

Response: Countries require diplomatic relations, irrespective of their counterparts. The Messenger established peace and forged treaties even with the most aggressive idolators. The Muslim governments that enter into these Accords do so with a focus on what they perceive as advantageous for their own states, and the Muslim leaders are permitted to engage in such treaties. Read: Are Treaties With The Jews, the State of ‘Israel’ and other Non-Muslims Permitted? Is it Allegiance? Is it Apostasy? https://abukhadeejah.com/treaties-with-the-non-muslims-do-they-necessitate-allegiance/

The Rafidah, much like the Zionists, share a commonality in their role as agents of corruption upon this earth. Despite their nefarious actions, they are also in need of diplomatic ties with others.

Yonatan stated: “Given this momentum, Israel today enjoys broad legitimacy in continuing its struggle against Iran and its proxies. The international community recognizes that Israel is not only a primary victim of these threats but also the most experienced nation in combating them”. [end of quote]

Response: It is indisputable that every individual, including the Zionists, possesses an inherent right to exist within the the human race. Nevertheless, the Zionists will forever be devoid of legitimacy in light of their decades-long oppression of the Palestinians, regardless of the consensus among those who may condone their actions. As for the Rafidah and their affiliates, their reputation is well established in the Ummah. [Refer to Footnote c]

Yonatan stated: “Undoubtedly, the war is expected to be long and will exact a heavy price on Israel’s home front. Yet, as time passes, more nations are likely to join an Israeli-led coalition against Iran. When the war ends – on Israel’s terms and timeline – the Jewish state will have transformed fundamentally. The perception of Israel as limited in the political arena or incapable of leading global initiatives will dissipate. From now on, the decisions made in Jerusalem will hold as much weight – if not more – as those made in Washington, London, or Berlin. The world will stop viewing Israel as a problem-maker and begin seeing it as a problem-solver. At a time when America’s presence in the international arena appears to be waning, opportunities are emerging for Israel to assert its strength and play a pivotal role in regions previously beyond its reach”. [end of quote]

Response: First, we remind Yonatan that Allah said: [لِلَّهِ ٱلْأَمْرُ مِن قَبْلُ وَمِنۢ بَعْدُ – The decision of the matter, before and after is only with Allah] [30:4]

The divine will of Allah governs all affairs based on perfect knowledge, wisdom and justice. He alone determines the duration of this conflict and the significant toll it exacts on all involved. May the actions of Muslim leaders be directed towards the ultimate good for Islam and its followers, and may Allah safeguard the Muslim nations from the threats posed by the Zionists and the Rafidah. The attainment of strength and influence is only in the hands of Allah. Furthermore, history has shown that even the most oppressive empires, once at the pinnacle of power and influence, were ultimately brought to ruin. Allah said:

Do they not travel in the land, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength, and they tilled the earth and populated it in greater numbers than these (pagans) have done, and there came to them their Messengers with clear proofs. Surely, Allah wronged them not, but they used to wrong themselves. Then evil was the end of those who did evil, because they belied the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, Messengers, etc.) of Allah and made mock of them. [30: 9-10]

Yonatan said: “The blue-and-white flag will not only symbolize a Jewish state but also embody a vision of hope and democracy. Israel will not merely rediscover its destiny; it will position itself as an inspiring leader on the global stage”. [end of quote]

Response: The ambitions of the writer resonate with those of countless individuals who have stood by their nations while simultaneously witnessing the oppression of others. Why has Yonatan failed to address in this article the tragic loss of over 40,000 Palestinian lives, many of whom lie buried beneath the rubble, all under the guise of self-defense? Why has he not denounced the genocidal rhetoric employed by Netanyahu and certain supporters? [Refer to Footnote d]

As for the people who possess the least decency, they unequivocally condemn all who, whether Muslim or non-Muslim, take the lives of innocent and defenseless women, children, and non-combatants, irrespective of the justifications offered by oppressors or the support and propaganda disseminated in political arenas and the media. Such actions are nothing short of hubris and arrogance, and those who embody such traits will find no success in the Hereafter. Allah stated: [تِلْكَ ٱلدَّارُ ٱلْءَاخِرَةُ نَجْعَلُهَا لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُرِيدُونَ عُلُوًّا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا فَسَادًا وَٱلْعَٰقِبَةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ – That home of the Hereafter (i.e. Paradise), We shall assign to those who rebel not against the truth with pride and oppression in the land nor do mischief by committing crimes. And the good end is for the pious]. [28:83]

Is noble prophet Isa (Jesus) a Jew or Palestinian?

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Allah [The Exalted] said:

فلذلك فادع واستقم كما أمرت ولا تتبع أهواءهم وقل آمنت بما أنزل الله من كتاب وأمرت لأعدل بينكم الله ربنا وربكم لنا أعمالنا ولكم أعمالكم لا حجة بيننا وبينكم الله يجمع بيننا وإليه المصير

So unto this (religion of Islam, alone and this Qur’an) then invite (people) (O Muhammad ), and Istaqim [(i.e. stand firm and straight on Islamic Monotheism by performing all that is ordained by Allah (good deeds, etc.), and by abstaining from all that is forbidden by Allah (sins and evil deeds, etc.)], as you are commanded, and follow not their desires but say: “I believe in whatsoever Allah has sent down of the Book [all the holy Books, this Qur’an and the Books of the old from the Tawrat (Torah), or the Injeel (Gospel) or the Pages of Ibrahim (Abraham)] and I am commanded to do justice among you, Allah is our Lord and your Lord. For us our deeds and for you your deeds. There is no dispute between us and you. Allah will assemble us (all), and to Him is the final return. [Ash-Shuraa. 15]

[وَأُمِرۡتُ لِأَعۡدِلَ بَيۡنَكُمُ‌ۖ – and I am commanded to do justice among you], Meaning, when passing judgement regarding that which you have differed between yourselves. Therefore, your enmity and hatred does not prevent me from judging with justice between you. And part of justice is that when judging between people who make different statements – amongst the people of the Scripture and others – one accepts what they possess of truth and reject what they possess of falsehood.

[ٱللَّهُ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكُمۡ‌ۖ لَنَآ أَعۡمَـٰلُنَا وَلَكُمۡ أَعۡمَـٰلُڪُمۡ‌ۖ لَا حُجَّةَ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمُ‌ۖ ٱللَّهُ يَجۡمَعُ بَيۡنَنَا‌ۖ وَإِلَيۡهِ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ – Allah is our Lord and your Lord. For us our deeds and for you your deeds. There is no dispute between us and you. Allah will assemble us (all), and to Him is the final return].

[لَا حُجَّةَ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمُ‌ۖ – There is no dispute between us and you] – Meaning, there is no dispute between us and you [i.e. after the realities have been manifested, and after the clear distinction between truth and falsehood, and after the clear distinction between guidance and misguidance, there is no room for debate, because the goal behind debate is to distinguish between right and wrong, so that the one to be guided is guided and the proofs established against the misguided one. [ٱللَّهُ يَجۡمَعُ بَيۡنَنَا‌ۖ وَإِلَيۡهِ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ – Allah will assemble us (all), and to Him is the final return] [An Excerpt from Tafsir As-Sadi]

The contention surrounding the aforementioned depiction lies in the portrayal of Isa, peace be upon him, as a Palestinian, despite his Jewish heritage. The verses we have referenced, along with the elucidation provided by Imam As-Sadi, compel us to engage in a discourse rooted in justice, aiming to reconcile the discord between these two factions that have strayed from the true essence of the Messengers’ teachings. First, it is imperative to acknowledge that if Isa, peace be upon him, is identified as a Jew, signifying his descent from Bani Israel, this truth shines as luminously as the midday sun.

Ibn Al-Athir, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

Imran Ibn Mathan, who is the grandfather of Jesus, peace be upon him, and the father of Mary, was a descendant of Sulayman, son of Dawud, peace be upon them. The family of Mathan held prominent positions as leaders and scholars among the Children of Israel. [1]

Imam Ibn Kathir, may Allah have mercy upon him, stated:

“There is no disagreement that she [meaning Maryam, peace be upon her] is from the lineage of Dawud, peace be upon him, and her father, Imran, was the one who led the prayers of the Children of Israel during his time.” [2]

Shaikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy upon him, stated:

“There is no doubt that the people of Musa, peace be upon him, were the Children of Israel, and the Torah was revealed in their language. Likewise, the Children of Israel are the people of Christ, peace be upon him, and he spoke in their tongue. Neither of the two Messengers addressed anyone in any language other than Hebrew; neither spoke in Latin, Syriac, Greek, nor Coptic.” [3]

It is well known among the Christians that Christ spoke exclusively in Hebrew, similar to other prophets of the Israelites. Furthermore, it is noted that He was circumcised on the eighth day, in accordance with the customs of the Israelites, and that He prayed facing their designated direction, rather than towards the east, nor did he instruct others to pray in that direction. [4]

Therefore, the lineage of Isa, peace be upon him, is unequivocally clear. He hailed from the Children of Israel, who are themselves the descendants of Prophet Yaqub, peace be upon him. However, it is also important to recognise that not all individuals who adhere to the Jewish faith are direct descendants of Prophet Yaqub by bloodline. [Refer to Footnote a]

Secondly, concerning the historical context of the region and the birthplace of Isa, peace be upon him, we find ourselves in Palestine. Thus, to assert that he was Palestinian solely based on his birthplace is somewhat misleading, as the emphasis should be on lineage rather than geography. Not every individual born in England possesses English ancestry, including the one writing this article. To deepen this understanding, it is essential to explore the rich history of Palestine, including its original inhabitants and the arrival of the Children of Israel.

Their first entry into Palestine was with Yusha Bin Nun, peace be upon him, after the death of Prophet Musa, peace be upon him, during his travels from one place to another, and after they initially refused to fight (when commanded to do so). There were three tribes in Palestine before the children of Israel took control of it: they were the Phoenicians who inhabited it around the year 3000 BC, and they settled in the northern region of the Mediterranean Sea. And the Canaanites descended south of the Phoenicians and occupied the central region of Palestine in the year 2500 BC. These were Arab tribes migrating from the Arabian Peninsula, then groups came from the Island of Crete around the year 1200 BC. It was called [فلستين] and was situated between Jaffa and Gaza on the Mediterranean Sea. The Canaanites called these people [فلسطين] and the name prevailed over the entire region, so it became referred to as [فلسطين]. According to what the Jews mentioned in their books, and what was written in the history of the region is that these peoples continued (residing) in the region. Many wars between them and the Children of Israel and the Jews occurred, which continued throughout the presence of the Jews in that region. Therefore, from a historical perspective, it becomes clear to us that the Jews were not the first to inhabit Palestine, but rather they entered it or some of it and captured parts of it after it had been in the possession of these people. [5]

Therefore, it is essential to recognise that not only is the depiction of the Prophets in images strictly prohibited, but it would also be misleading to adorn such an image with a Keffiyeh if the intention is to represent Isa as a Palestinian. This assertion is grounded in the previously discussed lineage of Isa, peace be upon him.

Having established that Isa, peace be upon him, is indeed from the Children of Israel, descendants of the noble Prophet Yaqub, peace be upon him, we now shift our focus to a matter of profound importance: the true followers of Isa. It is crucial to understand that even if Isa were a Palestinian, such a designation would not confer any intrinsic superiority upon Palestinians unless they acknowledge him as a Prophet and Messenger. Moreover, they must adhere to the teachings of the final Prophet, Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, whom Isa announced his prophet hood and messengership. Similarly, the fact that Isa belongs to the Children of Israel does not grant any Jew superiority over others unless they accept him as a Prophet and Messenger of Allah and follow the finality of Prophethood embodied in Muhammad, of whom Isa prophesied. Shaikh AI-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy upon him, stated:

When Allah, The Exalted, sent Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,, they disbelieved in him, thus their disbelief and misguidance occurred in two ways- substitution of the religion of the first Messenger (i.e. the Messiah) and belied the second Messenger (i.e. Muhammad), just as the Jews substituted the rulings of the Torah before the Messiah was sent and then belied him. The Christians’ denial of Muhammad’s Messengership is a well-known belief of theirs to every Muslim, which is similar to the Jews’ disbelief in the Messiah. The Christians emphasise the disbelief of the Jews greater than what the Jews deserve, because the Jews claimed that the Messiah was a magician and a liar; rather they said that he is an illegitimate child, as Allah informed us about them: [وَقَوۡلِهِمۡ عَلَىٰ مَرۡيَمَ بُہۡتَـٰنًا عَظِيمً۬ا – And their speech against Maryam (Mary)- a grave false charge (that she has committed illegal sexual intercourse]. [An-Nisaa. 156]; but the Christians claimed that the Messiah is Allah, therefore the trial between them and the Jews regarding the Messiah involved a lot of contradictions, misguidance at similar levels and confrontation, and this is why both nations rebuked one another with something more than what each of them deserved, just as Allah said:

The Jews said that the Christians follow nothing; and the Christians said that the Jews follow nothing; though they both recite the Scripture. Like unto their word, said (the pagans) who know not. Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection about that wherein they have been differing. [Al-Baqarah. 113]

Muhammad Bin Abee Muhammad the protege of Zaid Bin Thabit reported from Ikrimah or Saeed Bin Jubayr, who reported from Ibn Abbaas that when the Christian delegation of Najraan came to Allaah’s Messenger, the Rabbis came and argued with them in the presence of the Messenger; so Rabee Bin Hurmilah said, “You are upon nothing” and thus he disbelieved in Isa and all the Injeel. Then a man from the people of Najran said to the Jews, “You are upon nothing”, and thus he willfully denied Musa’s, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, Prophethood and disbelieved in the Torah, thus, Allah revealed: [وَقَالَتِ ٱلۡيَهُودُ لَيۡسَتِ ٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ عَلَىٰ شَىۡءٍ۬ وَقَالَتِ ٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ لَيۡسَتِ ٱلۡيَهُودُ عَلَىٰ شَىۡءٍ۬ وَهُمۡ يَتۡلُونَ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ‌ۗ -The Jews said that the Christians follow nothing; and the Christians said that the Jews follow nothing; though they both recite the Scripture. [Al-Baqarah. 113]

So each of them recited the affirmation of what they reject in their book- meaning, the Jews disbelieved in Isa whilst they had the Torah in which Allah established the evidence against them through Musa that they should believe in Isa and the Injeel, and Isa confirmed Musa’s Messengership and what he came with. So, each one disbelieved in what was in the possession of the other. [Ibn Abee Hatim. 1/339]

[وَقَالَتِ ٱلۡيَهُودُ لَيۡسَتِ ٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ عَلَىٰ شَىۡءٍ۬ – The Jews said that the Christians follow nothing]: Qatadah said regarding this verse, “Certainly, the early Christians were upon something, but they innovated and split”. [وَقَالَتِ ٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ لَيۡسَتِ ٱلۡيَهُودُ عَلَىٰ شَىۡءٍ۬ – and the Christians said that the Jews follow nothing]: Qatadah said regarding this verse: “Certainly, the early Jews were upon something, but they innovated and split”. The Jews belied the religion of the Christians and said that the Christians were upon nothing; and the Christians denied everything through which the Jews were distinguished from them, even the laws of the Torah which the Messiah did not abrogate; rather he commanded them to act upon it. As for the Jews, they denied many of things through which others were distinguished from them, until they denied the truth brought by Isa.

So, even though the Christians – due to that which they innovated of exaggeration and misguidance – went into extremes in excommunicating the Jews and showed them enmity beyond what is obligated, however there is no doubt that the Jews disbelieved when they belied the Messiah, just as Allah [The Exalted] said to the Messiah [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him]: [إِنِّى مُتَوَفِّيكَ وَرَافِعُكَ إِلَىَّ وَمُطَهِّرُكَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ڪَفَرُواْ وَجَاعِلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوكَ فَوۡقَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ – I will take you and raise you to Myself and clear you [of the forged statement that ‘Isa (Jesus) is Allah’s son] of those who disbelieve, and I will make those who follow you (Monotheists, who worship none but Allah) superior to those who disbelieve [in the Oneness of Allah, or disbelieve in some of His Messengers, e.g. Muhammad, ‘Isa (Jesus), Musa (Moses), etc., or in His Holy Books, e.g. the Tawrat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel), the Qur’an] till the Day of Resurrection. [Aal Imran. 55]

Allah, The Exalted, said:

Isa the son of Maryam said to Al-Hawariun (the disciples): “Who are my helpers (in the Cause) of Allah?” Al-Hawarieen (the disciples) said: “We are Allah’s helpers” (i.e. we will strive in His Cause!). Then a group of the Children of Israel believed and a group disbelieved. So We gave power to those who believed against their enemies, and they became the uppermost. [As-Saff. 14]

The disbelief of the Christians – due to their denial of Muhammad’s Messengership and – is greater than the disbelief of the Jews due to their denial of the Messiah’s Messengership, because indeed the Messiah only abrogated a little from the Torah and all the laws and acts of worship ordained for him could be traced back to the Torah; however the majority of the beliefs and practices of the Christians were innovated after the departure of the Messiah. That which is found in the Jews’ denial of the Messiah by opposing Allah’s Shariah is not the same as the Christians’ denial of Muhammad, who brought an independent book from Allah, because nothing in the laws of the Qur’an was ordained based on the law of another Messenger. Allah [The Exalted] said: [أَوَلَمۡ يَكۡفِهِمۡ أَنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡڪِتَـٰبَ يُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِمۡ‌ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٲلِكَ لَرَحۡمَةً۬ وَذِڪۡرَىٰ لِقَوۡمٍ۬ يُؤۡمِنُونَ – Is it not sufficient for them that We have sent down to you the Book (the Qur’an) which is recited to them? Verily, herein is mercy and a reminder (or an admonition) for a people who believe]. [Al-Ankabut. 51]

The Qur’an is an independent book like the Torah of Musa, even though the Qur’an is greater than it. And this is why the Christian scholars made a connection between Musa and Muhammad, just as when An-Najaashee [may Allaah have mercy upon him]- the Ethiopian king of the Christians- heard the Qur’an, he said, “Indeed, this and what Musa brought came from the same source”. Also, when Waqarah bin Nawfil, may Allah have mercy upon him, – who was one of Christian Arab scholars- heard the statement of the Prophet, he said, “Indeed, the Naamoos [i.e. Jibreel] who came to you was sent to Musa. I wish that I were young till when your people expel you”. Allaah’s Messenger asked, “Will these people drive me out?” Waraqah said, “Yes, because nobody brought the like of what you have brought, but was treated with hostility. If I were to remain alive till your day (when you start calling to Islam), then I would support you strongly”. [Bukhari]

And this is why Allah mentioned the Torah and the Qur’an together in His statement:

But when the truth (i.e. Muhammad with his Message) has come to them from Us, they say: “Why is he not given the like of what was given to Musa (Moses)? Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Musa (Moses) of old? They say: “Two kinds of magic [the Tawrat (Torah) and the Qur’an] each helping the other!” And they say: “Verily! In both we are disbelievers.” Say (to them, O Muhammad): “Then bring a Book from Allah, which is a better guide than these two [the Taurat (Torah) and the Qur’an], that I may follow it, if you are truthful.” [Al-Qasas. 48-49]

Allah did not revealed books that were a better guide than the Tawraat and the Qur’an. Then Allah said:

But if they answer you not (i.e. do not believe in your doctrine of Islamic Monotheism, nor follow you), then know that they only follow their own lusts. And who is more astray than one who follows his own lusts, without guidance from Allah? Verily! Allah guides not the people who are Zalimun (wrong-doers, disobedient to Allah, and polytheists). [Al-Qasas. 50] [6]

Reflections from some statements of Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Hadi Al Mad’khali [32 of 80]

In The Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Excerpt From a Lesson of Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Mad’khali – may Allah preserve him:

Al-Allamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Mad’khali, may Allah preserve him, was asked: Some accuse the Salafi Dawah in our time of being harsh, and that it is incumbent upon the callers to be gentle with the people of Bidah. Is this correct, and what should be the response to them whilst bearing in mind that the time at present is different from the previous one and men in this time are different from previous men? May Allah reward you with good.

Response: This behaviour -attacking the Salafis of harshness – is not new, but rather it is an old affair. From the time of (Imam) Ahmad ibn Hanbal, before and after him to this day, the people of falsehood cannot confront the people of truth except through misrepresentation (distortion). There are many misrepresentations (distortions), and not only (the false accusation of) harshness. The misrepresentations are many, and their accusation of harshness is nothing but one of many thoughts. Surely, they will accuse them of being Khawaarij (1), Mujassimah, and Mushabbihah. (2) Every (deviant) group accuses them (Salafis) of something by way of which the deviant group’s corrupt creed can be disapproved.

The Jahmiyyah (2.1) call them Mushabbihah and Mujassimah because they affirm Allah’s Attributes that are in His Book (i.e. The Qur’an) and the Sunnah of His Prophet [may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] and they affirm them in the manner that is befitting for Allah [The Blessed and Most High]. The Khawaarij and Mutazilah (3) accuse them of being Murji’ah (4), and the Rafidah (5) accuse them of being Nawasib (6) because they do not exaggerate in the manner they exaggerate the status of the Prophet’s family and so on. Meaning, my beloved brother, that they accuse them of harshness, (that they are the government) stooges, and spies, and that they are scholars whose knowledge is restricted to rulings on menstruation and postpartum, and other evil accusations that are presented by the callers to evil, falsehood and misguidance. So, there is nothing else other than that Salafis carry on explaining their call to the path of Allah with clear-sightedness. At the same time, they must have lofty manners such as patience, forbearance, wisdom, and other good and noble qualities that are compatible with this great Dawah. Alongside this, they train themselves to exercise patience while encountering what is said about them, and let them take as their role models the Prophets, those who have preceded them (in Islam), and the Imams of knowledge and guidance.

The Qur’an mentioned to us regarding the enemies of the Prophets that they accused them of lying, sorcery, soothsaying, insanity, and they accused them of many things. Therefore, it is incumbent upon the one who calls to Allah’s path- the one who is sincere to Allah [The Mighty and Majestic] – that he takes as his role model these Prophets and whoever follows their path among the Imams of Islam. When it is the case that despite their lofty statuses they were not spared from these accusations and verbal abuse, then how can we, the weak and poor (in knowledge and faith), be spared?! “Reward (for a deed is given) according to the level of exertion”, “The people put to trial the most were the Prophets, then the next best, then the next best”. Allah says:

And if Allāh had so willed, He could have punished (and destroyed) them (without you). But (He commanded you to fight against them) in order to test some of you with others]. [7] However, He wants some people to be a test for others (based on His Perfect Knowledge, Wisdom, and Justice), so whoever succeeds in this test and trial, Allah will raise his rank and honor him in this world and the Hereafter. [8] Indeed, many people may lose courage, lose their strength, and lose heart – either snuggle, [ فيخلد إلى الأرض – and then cling to the earth (i.e. preoccupied and diverted by the things of the worldly life)] or deviate as happens to many people. These people lose courage in the face of this affliction.

Therefore, we ask Allah [The Blessed and Most High] to keep us and you away from the causes of losing courage and the causes of defeat. By Allah, it is a battle between truth and falsehood that is more severe than military battles. The psychological war being waged in this era against Salafi callers (to Islam)is unparalleled. Because the media outlets have multiplied, and their arena has expanded in the east and west of the earth, and the presence of the devils among humankind in this era, I don’t think one can find their equal in plotting to wage war against the Salafi methodology and its adherents. I don’t think anything similar to it has preceded centuries ago – as it has been stated -because at present there is art in plotting, scheming, lies, rumours, and what is said by what is referred to as the malicious media.

Sa’eed Hawaa, one of the distinguished personalities of the “Muslim Brotherhood (Sect)” [9]- one of the senior (figureheads), who wrote many books that served this corrupt methodology, and they used to hold him in high regard until he reached a great status among them; then a disagreement arose between them… [what comes after statement is missing from the audio]

Then the Qutbists [10] came after them, and it is said that if these mentioned orientations (or groups) gathered with the Muslim Brotherhood (Sect), they would not achieve what the Qutbists have achieved in attacking Ahlus Sunnah with regards to misrepresenting (or distorting the true methodology of Ahlus Sunnah), but one must exercise patience. [Allah says]: [إِنَّما يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُمْ بِغَيْرِ حِسابٍ – Only those who are patient shall receive their rewards in full, without reckoning]. [Surah Az-Zumar. Ayah 10]

We ask Allah [The Blessed and Most High] to guide them or stop their enmity, and that Allah Exalt His statement, and support His religion. Indeed, my Lord is the Hearer of supplications.

The reader of the questions said: May Allah reward you with good. O Shaikh! It is also stated in the question with another expression (as follows): Is the Mubtadi [Footnote a] in our era treated as the Mubtadi in the earlier era (because) there is no doubt that the era of Imam Ahmad was different from this present era of ours?

Response: The religion ordained by Allah does not change and varies based on people changing and adopting different (ways, orientations, views, etc). The religion ordained by Allah (remains as) the religion ordained by Allah, and Allah’s call (remains as) Allah’s call. The dealings during the era of the Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him], in the era of Imaam Ahmad, Shaikhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, and Shaikhul Islam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhaab, and thereafter, all emanate from Allah’s Book (The Qur’an) and the Sunnah of Allah’s Messenger. Their methodology is one, but there is a need for someone to apply this methodology and know how to deal with Ahlul Bidah in the light of the Qur’an and the Sunnah.

Ahlul Bidah must be warned against, their faults (attributed to the religion) exposed, and their misguidance clarified. This is one of the most obligated obligations and prescribed duties. What they say that the situation is different and that times are different is that do not want you to speak about Ahlul Bidah because these (deviated) parties (groups) are submissive to innovated, misguided leaderships (or leaders), so when you speak about their misguided leaderships (or leaders)- criticising them, they want you to remain silent. Therefore, do not be led astray by these tactics. They say (i.e. claim) that Ahmed was (such and such), Ibn Taymiyyah was (such and such)- distort their speech and objectives. All of this is to silence Ahlus Sunnah and address them with a speech that will make them dumbfounded to make them keep quiet about their leaders, and indeed, they have made every effort to silence Ahlus Sunnah. But all that Ahlus Sunnah has to do is roll up their sleeves and strive to raise the word of Allah, spread the Sunnah and manifest it, and refute Bidah with everything they can do in every country. It is necessary to clarify these affairs for the people, such as differentiating between truth and falsehood, guidance and misguidance, and Sunnah and Bidah, which the people of Bidah and the proponents of abominable partisanship do not want- those who hide behind the term Salafiyyah through plotting and stratagem.

Indeed, they seek to distort Salafiyyah with great force so that they can crush it. That is why you see these people pursuing the Salafi call and its youth everywhere to crush it and establish on its ruins their innovated, corrupt methodologies. This is something tangible. In any case, it is necessary to speak about Ahlul Bidah, warning against them is necessary, and it is Jihad. They (i.e. the scholars) said in the time of Imaam Ahmed, “Jihad against Ahlul Bidah” or they said, “Defending the Sunnah is better than striking with swords (in Jihad)”. Ibn Taymiyyah – during his era – rolled up his sleeves and exerted himself in a manner that surpassed many of the Imams of Islam before him because he encountered many Bidah, so he confronted them with Allah’s Book and the Sunnah of Allah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him], refuted them and restrained their proponents together with his forbearance, knowledge, and wisdom. From those affairs related to the clarification that is based on wisdom and the rights of knowledge is the distinction between truth and falsehood, guidance and misguidance, Sunnah and Bidah. Allah says: [وَإِذْ أَخَذَ اللَّهُ مِيثَاقَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ لَتُبَيِّنُنَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَكْتُمُونَهُ – (And remember) when Allah took a covenant from those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) to make it (the news of the coming of Prophet Muhammad and the religious knowledge) known and clear to mankind, and not to hide it]. [Surah Al-Imran. Ayah 187]

I swear by Allah, the Prophets strove and stood up to remove the people out of darkness (and entered them) into light, and scholars are heirs of Prophets (in knowledge, religion, guidance, etc). Therefore, it is necessary to strive and roll up the sleeves to rescue the people from the darkness (and enter them into) light (i.e. by the permission of Allah). I say to these Masaakeen [i.e. these people who are very needy in their understanding and stances] that I swear by Allah that Ahlus Sunnah are the most sincere advisers and the most eager regarding what will benefit the people in their religion and their worldly affairs. I swear by Allah that whoever wants to silence Ahlus Sunnah is one who harms, betrays, and deceives the Ummah. He is the one who does not care whether the people are entered into the depths of the fire, or whether they are saved or not. As for Ahlus Sunnah, I swear by Allah that they only want good for the people, and they only want this Ummah to follow the path of their Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] and his straight path to enter Paradise or whoever Allah wills to enter into Paradise. When Ahlus Sunnah strives and stands up for (the truth), it is not for anything, but to guide these people and present what will benefit them in their religion and worldly affairs, and by Allah those who defend Ahlul Bidah are enemies of the people. They are the ones who harm them and prevent them from the truth that can reach them through the callers (to Islam) among Ahlus Sunnah.

So, how does our time differ from the time of Imaam Ahmed?! In the time of Ahmed, it was permissible to speak about Ahlul Bidah and warn against them, but now it is not permissible?! Clarify what you want! What do you want from this statement? Do you want us not to clarify the truth for the people, and that we do not warn them against misguidance, and Bidah, and that we not teach them the correct beliefs and correct approaches? What do you want? Clarify for us. There is deception and generality (that needs explanation) in this speech, may Allah bless you. This is why, as I emphasised to you, they do not want – at all -speech directed at the figureheads of Bidah and misguidance. Hence, they initiated the methodology of Muwaazanaat [Footnote b] after they lost hope that Ahlus Sunnah would not remain silent. They initiated the methodology of Muwaazanaat to praise their leaders (of Bidah and misguidance), and thereafter speak about their mistakes. Despite being (rightfully) disgraced, they are unwilling and do not the mistakes of their leaders to be mentioned, but if you must speak, then speak based on counterbalancing (i.e. Muwaazanaat). They institute in the religion ordained by Allah that which Allah has not allowed, and forbid what Allah has established about propagating Allah’s Message, the advice to be given to Muslims, and to warn them against what would harm them in their religion and worldly affairs. They forbid these affairs, thus they commit a greater crime against Islam than those whom they call Tawaagheet (false gods) and fight them to gain access to the seats of (political) leadership. [4] Who are the Mur’jiah? This innovation occurred just prior to the end of the first century hijrah, and there is some difference as to who the originator was, with the names presented such as Dharr bin Abdullaah al-Hamdaanee, Qays al-Maasir and Hammaad bin Abi Sulaymaan – they all lived in the same era and in the same locality, al-Kufah in Iraq, so it is certain that the idea origination in a certain location. This irjaa’ was that of the Jurists (Fuquhaa) and which manifested in the Hanafis. Al-Jahm bin Safwaan (see the section on the Jahmiyyah below) also propounded irjaa’ and his was an extreme form that was passed on through the factions of the Mutakallimoon. irjaa’ is to expel actions from the reality of faith (Eemaan) and to restrict faith to being only what is in the heart, or what is upon the tongue, or only in the heart and tongue. And thus, all the legislated actions, be the obligatory or recommended, are considered external to the essence and reality of Eemaan (faith).

[5] Who are the Raafidah? They are extreme Shi’ites who are commonly known as the Twelvers (Ithnaa Asharah). A Yemeni Jew, by the name of Abdullaah bin Saba’ was the founder of this group, and he appeared in the time of ‘Alee (radiallaahu anhu). He instigated a revolution against the Caliph Uthmaan (radiallaahu anhu) and mustered other Muslims together for that purpose, claiming that Alee had more right to be the Caliph. He, in common with the Khawaarij, raised the banner of “social justice” for that purpose. He eventually deified Alee, declaring him to be Allaah. Alee ordered him and followers to be burned to death, but Abdullaah bin Saba’ escaped to a place called al-Madaa’in.

The Raafidah Shi’ah proclaim love for Alee and the Ahl ul-Bayt (family of the Prophet). Their main doctrine is that the Caliphate belonged to Alee’ after the Prophet and that the Imaamate is the right of the Ahl ul-Bayt (offspring of Alee’). They declare most of the Companions to be disbeleivers except for a handful, and they have specific enmity towards Abu Bakr and Umar (radiallaahu anhumaa). They claim infallibility (al-ismah) for their Imaams, and give them divine attributes such as knowing the unseen. They make the issue of Imaamah (leadership) to be from the greatest of the pillars of the religion. They claim the Qur’an is incomplete and have their own Qur’aan, and they curse and revile the Companions and the wives of the Prophet (alayhis salaam), this being worship for them. They also make deception (taqiyah) to be a pillar of their religion. As they evolved they acquired other innovations, such as those of the Mu’tazilah and those of the Mushabbihah, Mujassimah. They also plunged in their morals and are the most lying and deceiving of people. The Rafidah Shi’ah are also very adept at spreading their poison.

[9] Muslim Brotherhood: The so-called “Muslim Brotherhood” (al-Ikhwan al-Muslimeen) is an organization that was set up in Egypt in 1928 and modeled upon a prior organization set up by the suspect figure Jamal ul-Din al-Afghani. Its founder, Hasan al-Banna was an Ash’ari and Hasawi Sufi. Its two most influential figureheads are Hasan al-Banna and Sayyid Qutb and they each laid down the foundations for the two major strains of Ikhwani thought and methodology. Hasan al-Banna brought the alleged “golden principle” of accommodating all of the deviant sects in order to amass as large a number as possible (to be used to help achieve the political goals and aspirations of the leaders of this group). This included making inroads, allegiances and friendships with the Iranian Rafidah. Sayyid Qutb (website) brought the elements of Takfir (of all contemporary Muslim societies) and the necessity of revolution (against them) through which rulers are targeted and replaced. Both these methodologies work hand in hand and are two sides of the same coin. As a result, the Muslim Brotherhood has been a useful tool for creating chaos and corruption both in religious and worldly affairs and served as a useful proxy to help achieve geo-political agendas. http://www.ikhwanis.com/index.cfm
