Beginning of The Khaarijites – [Rebellion With The Tongue By Dhul Khuwaysirah]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah) said, “There is no khurooj with the sword except that it is preceded by Khurooj with the tongue”. [Ref 1]

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzan (may Allaah preserve him) was asked:

The one (i.e. Dhul Khuwaysirah) who said to the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wsallam): ‘’be just’’; is he considered to be from the Sahaabah or is he a khaarijee, alongside the fact that he did not rebel against the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) and did not disbelieve through major (kufr etc)?

Answer: The one (i.e. Dhul Khuwaysirah) who said to the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) ‘’be just’’ is not a just person. This was the beginning of the khawaarij in view of the fact that he accused him of oppression.  And it is not a condition that the khawaarij have to carry weapons, rather he (the person) is from the khawaarij and upon their school of thought if he believes in declaring Muslims disbelievers due to major sins (they commit). If he incites (the people) against the one in charge of the affairs through sermons and writing, (then) this is the school of thought of the khawaarij even if he does not carry weapons.

The khawaarij are of different types: Amongst them are those who carry weapons; there are those who speak like the who said to the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam), ”Be Just”; amongst them are those who write and amongst them is the one who believes in his heart, but he neither speaks nor does anything; however he has the belief of the khawaarij in his creed.  But some of them are worse than others. [Ref 2]

Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [rahimahullaah] said:

The Qur’aan has indeed stipulated that this man [i.e. Dhul Khuwaysirah] was from the hypocrites due to the statement of Allaah:

وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَلْمِزُكَ فِي الصَّدَقَاتِ

And of them [i.e. the Munaafiqoon] are some who accuse you (O Muhammad) in the matter of (the distribution of) the alms. [Surah at-Tawbah. Aayah 58] – Meaning they find fault with you and speak ill of you. [Ref 3]

[23] The Three Monotheistic Religions! [Brief Observations On This Statement Uttered By Writers Who Are Ignorant About Islaam And Misguided Modernists Speaking In The Name of Islaam (Three Pitfalls)]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

Firstly: We repeat once again the fact that rebutting false beliefs, ideas and views does not necessitate bad behaviour, rather Muslims are commanded to behave well towards others.

To Proceed:

Allaah [The Most High] said:

–Say (O Muhammad): “O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians): Come to a word that is just between us and you, that we worship none but Allah, and that we associate no partners with Him, and that none of us shall take others as lords besides Allah. Then, if they turn away, say: “Bear witness that we are Muslims]. [Surah Aal Imraan. Aayah 64]

Meaning: say to the people of the scripture – the Jews and Christians,

[تَعَالَوۡاْ إِلَىٰ ڪَلِمَةٍ۬ سَوَآءِۭ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكُمۡ – Come to a word that is just between us and you]- Meaning: Come let us unite upon the statement which all the Prophets and Messengers agreed upon and none opposes it except the obstinate and misguided. This statement is not specific to anyone of us; rather it is something that you and us should establish between us, so this is justice and fairness in debate. Then Allaah explains this and said:

[أَلَّا نَعۡبُدَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ وَلَا نُشۡرِكَ بِهِۦ شَيۡـًٔ۬ا  –  that we worship none but Allah, and that we associate no partners with Him]- Meaning: We should single out Allaah in worship, devoting all love, fear and hope to Him alone, and we should not associate anyone as partner with Allaah in worship- neither a Prophet, an Angel, a Righteous Person, an Idol, a Deified image, a living or non-living thing, [وَلَا يَتَّخِذَ بَعۡضُنَا بَعۡضًا أَرۡبَابً۬ا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ  – and that none of us shall take others as lords besides Allaah]; rather all obedience is to be devoted to Allah and His Messengers. [فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡاْ فَقُولُواْ ٱشۡهَدُواْ بِأَنَّا مُسۡلِمُونَ – Then, if they turn away, say: “Bear witness that we are Muslims]”. [Tafsir As-Sadi]

It obligatory to know that the reason behind the misguidance of the Christians and their ilk – amongst those who go beyond bounds, such as those devoted in worship, the Shiites and other than them- is due to three affairs:

Firstly, utilisation of ambiguous general terms and terms that are difficult to understand, and then turning away from terms that are clear and unambiguous. Whenever they hear a term that carries ambiguity, they cling to it and embrace it in their religion, even if it not a proof for it. As for the explicitly clear terms that are in opposition to their path, either they abstain from utilising them or give them a false interpretation just as the people of falsehood do. They follow the ambiguous intellectual and divine proofs [i.e. terms & meanings which can either be utilised for truth or falsehood when not explained in detail and distinguished] and then turn away from the unambiguous and explicitly clear proofs.

Secondly, Khawaariq – [Phenomena that is attributed to something beyond what is usual or what normally happens, but not equated to the miracles of the Prophets] – which they think are divine signs (evidences, proofs etc), but they are actually affairs related to the devils. This is from that which often misguides the polytheists and other than them, such as shaytaan entering an idol and speaks to the people, the devils informing a magician about the affairs of the unseen and definitely lying as well. [End of quote from Jawaabus Saheeh].

The Devils Eavesdrop And Add Lies With The Magician

Aa’isha [radiyallaahu-anhaa] said: I heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) saying, “The angels descend in the clouds and mention this or that matter decreed in the Heaven. The devils listen stealthily to such a matter, come down to inspire the soothsayers with it, and they add to it one-hundred lies of their own”. [Saheeh Al-Bukhaari 3210]

Continuation from Al-Jawaabus Saheeh…. Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [rahimahullaah] then said:

Thirdly, reports transmitted to them which they think are true, but instead they are lies. Neither the Christians [i.e. those Christians who change the religion of the Messiah] nor others amongst the people of misguidance have any sound intellectual proofs or sound reports to support their falsehood. When they speak about intellectual proofs, they speak based on ambiguous general terms, but when the  meanings of those words are explained and its truth and falsehood are distinguished, then that which it contains of deception and ambiguity becomes manifest. And when they speak about reports, then either it is correct and does not support their falsehood or it is not authentic, rather it is lies.

Likewise, that which they mention regarding miracles, either it is sound and did take place from a Prophet such as the miracles of the Messiah and those before him, such as Ilyaas, Al-Yasa‘ (Elisha), Moosaa and other than them amongst the Prophets [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon them],  then this is truth; or they are miracles that occurred from some of the righteous people, such as the disciples. However, this does not necessitate that the disciples are infallible like the Prophets, because indeed the Prophets are infallible in that which they relate from Allaah and they do not speak about Allaah except that which is true and no falsehood is found in their statements- neither deliberately nor mistakenly. As for the righteous people, they can definitely mix up affairs by mistake and err, regardless of the miracles that occur from them, so neither does this remove them from the fact that they are righteous men nor does it necessitate that they are infallible. And if one was to claim that he is infallible even though he is not a Prophet, then he is a liar and his lies will definitely manifest, the devils will accompany him, misguide him and thus the statement of Allaah applies to him:

هَلۡ أُنَبِّئُكُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُ

تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ۬

Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person. [Surah Ash-Shu’araa. Aayaat 221-222]

[An Excerpt from Al-Jawaabus Saheeh Liman Baddal Deen Al-Maseeh. Vol 1. Pages 277-278]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said: The basis of Banee Aadam’s misguidance is as a result of ‘General Terms’ and ‘Ambiguous Meanings’ [i.e. terms & meanings which can either be utilised for truth or falsehood when not explained in detail and distinguished], especially if they come in contact with a confused mind, then how about when [evil] desires and misguided enthusiasm is added to that? Therefore, ask the One Who keeps the hearts steadfast [i.e. Allaah] to keep your heart firm upon His Religion and not allow you to fall into this darkness.

Finally, we repeat once again the fact that rebutting false beliefs, ideas and views does not necessitate bad behaviour, rather Muslims are commanded to behave well towards others.

A Warning Against Al-Jazeerah Channel And a Severe Warning From Allaah Against Inclining Towards Wrongdoers

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

A Warning Against Al-Jazeerah Channel

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [hafidhahullaah] said:

Al-Jazeera channel [news] has a lot of evil and it contains Tahreesh [incitement, provocation, instigation]. They bring people who speak about the religion in a haphazard manner – in the affairs of fiqh; declaring unlawful that which Allaah has made lawful and declaring lawful that which Allaah has made unlawful in their Fataawaa. This is a severe danger. There is extreme evil in listening to or watching it….   Paraphrased…listen here: https://safeyoutube.net/w/cFcS

A Severe Warning Against Inclining Towards Wrongdoers

Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Madkhalee [hafidhahullaah] said: Allaah said:

وَلَا تَرْكَنُوا إِلَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا فَتَمَسَّكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ ثُمَّ لَا تُنصَرُونَ

And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you, and you have no protectors other than Allah, nor you would then be helped. (Hud: 113)

[Do not] incline towards the oppressors, those who oppress the people, (shedding) their blood, (stealing) their wealth and (violating) their honour, or they oppress the people in their religion by way of innovations and various forms of misguidance and the dissemination of dangerous propaganda and calls that oppose Islam. Do not incline towards anyone from these type of people. Do not aid him and do not help him with his falsehood. The verse includes all of these types (of oppressors). Every follower of falsehood is an oppressor, every innovator is an oppressor and everyone who violates a Muslim’s honour is an oppressor. So, do not incline towards any of them and thus you are afflicted by the fire, because when you incline towards the sinner, the innovator, the oppressor,  the criminal,  the one who violates peoples’ honour and those who violate the sanctity of the divine legislation, it is as if you are pleased (with him) – as if you are aiding and supporting him. Therefore, the believer should be careful of falling into this destructive inclination.

Specifying The Month of Rajab for Worship by Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen

What is the ruling on specifying the Month of Rajab for Umrah, or Fasting or any other righteous actions? And does it have a distinction over the rest of the Sacred Months?

There is no distinction for the Month of Rajab over the rest of the Sacred Months, and it is not to be specified: Not for umrah, nor fasting , nor prayer and nor with reciting of the Quraan, rather it is like the rest of the Sacred Months.

And all the reported narrations regarding the virtue of it, praying in it (Rajab), or fasting in it, indeed they are weak, a legislated ruling can not be established upon them (weak narrations).

Which of Us Truly Loves Allah & His Messenger – Shaykh al-Uthaymeen

Al-Allaamah al-Faqeeh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-Uthaymeen (rahimahullah) in explanation of aayatul imtihaan:

‎قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Say (O Muhammad) if you (truly) love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Aali Imraan: 31)

This verse is named the aayatul mihna, meaning the verse of examination, because a people claimed that they loved Allah, so Allah said to the Messenger,

قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ

Say (O Muhammad) if you (truly) love Allah

This is the sign of a persons love for his Lord, that they follow the Messenger (peace and blessings upon him) and everyone who is more ardent in following the Messenger then he is more beloved to Allah, however lets ponder and look at the result of loving Allah; Allah did not command the Messenger to say “If you love Allah, follow me and be truthful in that” rather He said

يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ

Allah will love you

and this is the tremendous fruit and result which every person seeks. Hence the reality is that you loving Allah is not the same as you being loved by Allah. Due to this He said,

فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ

then follow me, Allah will love you

Therefore if you were to seek after the Love of Allah and you love Him, then it is upon you to follow the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah upon him).

Is it possible to understand from this verse that the actions of the people of innovation belies their claim of loving the messenger (peace and blessings upon him)?

The answer to this, is yes, because we say, if you truly loved the messenger, you would indeed follow him, and if you truly loved Allah, you would definitely follow the Messenger, and if you truly took him (peace and blessings of Allah upon him) as a leader you would not precede him (i.e. utter statements or perform actions which he did not legislate), and how can he be your leader in reality whilst you oppose him, so where is the following of this leadership?

And due to this blatant opposition, how easy it is to destroy their claims; those who say, you don’t celebrate the birthday of the Prophet, and you don’t perform long extended poetic salaat and salaam and praise upon him,  therefore you don’t love him. So we say in reply to them, Glory be to Allah! Which of us has more right to loving the Messenger?! Those who follow his Sunnah and do not leave it, or those who perform that which he (peace and blessings of Allah upon him) warned against of innovations?! There is no doubt that those who truly love Allah is the first type, and destroying their claims does not require a strong axe, rather it is very easy to destroy.

Soofiyah and it’s Books – Shaykh Uthaymeen

Al-‘Allaamah Al-Faqeeh the Noble Scholar Muhammad ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen (rahimahullah) was asked regarding the books of the Soofiyah,

He responded, my view with regards to tassawuf is the same as to other than it from that which has been innovated into al-Islaam. The Messenger of Allah clarified this when he said,

“Upon you is my sunnah, and the sunnah of the rightly guided caliphs after me; and be warned of newly innovated matters, for every innovation is misguidance.” (1)

Therefore, tasawwuf (and it’s people) are in opposition to the guidance of the Messenger (peace and blessings upon him), innovation and misguidance is obligatory for the Muslim to stay far away from. He should take his path to Allah from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger.

As for the books of tasawwuf, then it is impermissible to acquire them or review (or read) them, except(2) for an individual (who is qualified to do so; i.e. a person of knowledge) who wants to know what is in them of innovation, so as to refute it; (in this instance) this persons looking through them is of a tremendous benefit.

And this benefit is: refuting this innovation so that the people are safe from it. And this is an affair which is sought after; if the person is safe from deviating by way of these books.

Celebrating Valentine’s Day – [Brief Admonition By Shaikh Uthaymeen [rahimahullaah]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [rahimahullaah] said:

Celebrating Valentine’s Day is impermissible due to [several] reasons:

Firstly: It is an innovated celebration and it has no basis in the Sharee’ah.

Secondly: It calls to infatuation.

Thirdly: It is a means of preoccupying the heart with the likes of these insignificant affairs and it is in opposition to the guidance of the Salafus Saaleh [The Pious Predecessors].

Therefore, it is impermissible to initiate anything on this day related to [celebration], whether it is foodstuffs, drinks, clothing, and exchanging gifts or other than that. It is obligated on a Muslim to nobly [adhere to his (or her)] religion and should not be one who goes with the flow- following everyone who calls to something.

What is the Meaning of Hizbiyyah and What is The Ruling Upon It? Shaykh Ubaid Al Jaabiree

A questioner from Germany asks:

“What is the definition of Hizbiyyah and what is its ruling?”

Watch the video for the answer.

Your question O my child from Germany is composed of two parts. The first: concerning the meaning of hizbiyyah and I say you have done well for asking this question. So hizbiyyah is to unite and side with an individual, individuals or a group other than Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamā’ah. And it’s possible (the people of hizbiyyah) side themselves with a number of groups. So you find one of them for example, uniting with Jamā’atu-Tablīgh, Jamā’atul-ikhwān, Jamā’atul-jihād or other than them from the present day da’wah affiliated groups that are all deviated and misguide people.

I say this without any reluctance, as this is what I profess as my religion before Allāh.

So you find him (a person of hizbiyyah) making his friendship and allegiance towards those who side with him, a groups of people, a single individual or various individual persons.  He builds his allegiance and enmity based on them.

It was this that Shaykhul-Islām – may Allāh have mercy upon him – signified with his saying, “And whosoever raises for the people a man for whose sake friendship and enmity is formed, then he is  from those who have divided their religion and split into sects” and with this detailed explanation – if Allāh wills – I think you have understood the meaning of hizbiyyah. It is taken from (the word) tahazzub (to form partisanship).

As for the second part and that is your question concerning its ruling – it is an innovation and misguidance. So whoever sides himself with other than the Salafis – and they are the People of Hadīth (prophetic narrations), Ahlul- Athar, (people of narrations), the Victorious Party, the Saved Sect, the People of Sunnah and Jamā’ah (unity).

So this is the reality of despicable hizbiyyah and (one who falls into it) is from those who have divided their religion and split into sects.

Do Not Pray with Those Who Revile Ahlus Sunnah – Shaykh Saaleh al Fawzaan

Q: Oh Noble Scholar – May Allah give you success – this questioner also says, my job is far from my house – a distance of 140 km, And there is a masjid where I pray the Friday prayer, but the khateeb reviles Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah, is it allowed for me to leave the Friday prayer in this masjid, knowing that there are other masaajid, but they are far from my workplace?

A: Do not pray with him whilst he reviles Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah. This is a great evil, do not pray with him. Pray it as dhuhr*, pray it as dhuhr, do not pray it as jumu’ah, except if there was near you another masjid, that you can pray in, and there isn’t any reason prohibiting that, then pray in there, N’am.

* The questioner was a traveller which is why the Shaykh said pray it as dhuhr
