Hungry People Hoping for a Mouthful of Food & Scrap of Bread, Yet Some People Waste Food – a brief Admonition by Shaikh Fawzaan

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan (may Allaah preserve him) said:

Reducing spending and not being extravagant and wasteful is an obligation during marriage ceremonies and other than it. These squanderers who waste meat and food and dispose of it in waste bins should be reminded that there are hungry people hoping for a mouth full of (food) and a scrap of bread. (They should be reminded) to fear Allaah and to fear Him in their gatherings, and that they do not become the cause of Allaah’s blessings being stop.

O Slaves of Allaah! Our Night in England Is Approaching, So Let Us Contemplate & Hasten Towards the Dhikr of the Evening Before Sun Set!

Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ خِلْفَةً لِّمَنْ أَرَادَ أَن يَذَّكَّرَ أَوْ أَرَادَ شُكُورًا

And He it is Who has put the night and the day in succession, for such who desires to remember or desires to show his gratitude. [25:62]

The night and the day differ- this one is white and that one is black. So one takes admonition and contemplates on the difference between them and thanks Allaah for them. [Ref 1] Whoever has missed the remembrance of Allaah in the morning, then indeed the evening has arrived so that he can do so. [Ref 2]

Reflect About Your Death and This Ramadhan – Al Allaamah Ahmad an Najmee

Al Allaamah Ahmad an Najmee (rahimahullah):

O slave of Allaah, may Allaah have mercy upon you; Observe the fasting of the month of Ramadhaan and standing in its night prayer. Take benefit from this opportunity, it may be that you will not get it again, as perhaps death may snatch you before the next Ramadhaan reaches you again.

Some Effects of the Authentic Sunnah upon the Heart’ -By Imaam Ibnul Qayyim

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said:

If the (bright) sun of the Sunnah rises in the heart of a servant, the mist (or fogginess) of every Bid’ah is cut from his heart and the darkness of every (act, practice or belief of) misguidance ceases to exist. [Source: Madaarij As-Saalikeen (1/379)]

Reminder: Few Issues Related to The Month of Sha’baan – its Middle (15th Day and Night) by Shaikh Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah)

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

In the Saheehayn  (Bukhaari and Muslim) Aa’isha (radiyallaahu-anhaa) said: I have never seen the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam fast a complete month except Ramadhaan; and I have never seen him fast  more in any other month than Shabaan (i.e. he used to fast a lot during shabaan but not the complete month because Ramadhaan was the only month he fasted completely).

Specifying Fasting On the Middle of Shabaan (15th)

Ibn Rajab mentioned in Lataa’if Al-Ma’aarif page 341 that Ibn Maajah narrated a hadeeth in which the Prophet said that when the 15th of Shabaan arrives, one should pray at night and fast during the day etc

This hadeeth is Mawdoo (fabricated) and in its chain of transmission is a man called Abu Bakr Abdullah Bin Muhammad -well known as [ابن أب بسرة ].  Imaam Ahmad and Ibn Ma’een said that he used to fabricate hadeeth.

So based on the above, it is not from the Sunnah to specify the middle (15th of Sha’baan) for fasting. And if specifying it for fasting is not a Sunnah, then it is a bidah. The Prophet said, ‘’Every bidah is misguidance.’’

The Virtues of the Night of 15th of Sha’baan

Shaikh Bin Baaz (rahimahullaah) said that all the ahaadeeth regarding the virtues of the night of 15th of Sha’baan are weak.

However, one can pray the night prayer (i.e. Tahajjud) on this night just as any other night, such as the common practice of a person who usually prays Tahajjud. He can pray on this night without specifying it with extra worship based on the belief that there is special virtue in doing so as opposed to other nights. If a person performs the Tahajjud (or night prayer) on this night only (i.e. out of belief that it is a special night), this is a bidah because there is nothing reported (authentic) that the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasalam) or his companions did so. The hadeeth reported in this regard is weak. Shaikh Bin Baaz (rahimahullaah) said that all the Ahaadeeth narrated about this are fabricated.

The Belief That Allaah Decrees Everything That Will Happen During the Year on 15th Night of Sha’baan

This belief is false.

Allaah (The Most High) said:

We sent it (this Qur’an) down on a blessed night [(i.e. night of Qadr, Surah No: 97) in the month of Ramadan, the 9th month of the Islamic calendar]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship].  Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments.  Amran (i.e. a Command or this Qur’an or the Decree of every matter) from Us. Verily, We are ever sending (the Messengers), (As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. [Surah Ad-Dukhan Aayaat 3-6]

Allaah (The Most High) said:

إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ

Verily! We have sent it (this Qur’an) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree) [Surah Al-Qadr.. Ayah 1]

So whoever claims that on the 15th night of Sha’baan is when Allaah decrees what will take place during the year, then he has opposed what is established in these Aayaat.

Cooking food for the poor and parents specially on the day of 15th of Sha’baan (i.e. as an act of worship)

This has no basis and specifying such acts on such a day is from the acts of bidah. The Prophet said: Every Bidah is misguidance.’’

Finally: The Shaikh (rahimahullaah) spoke about the perils of Bidah. We found a similar article (based on the speech of the Shaikh) already translated by the students at Salafipublications (may Allaah preserve them) on this link:

Do Not Be Jealous of The One Who Benefits Others – Ala Shaykh

Shaykh Sāliḥ Āl ash-Shaykh (hafithahullāh) said:

“Do not be jealous of the one who has memorised more than you or is more knowledgeable than you or is more beneficial to the slaves (of Allāh) than you, rather be happy that someone is establishing the rights of Allāh (عز وجل) and the rights of the slaves.”

The Calamity of Ignorance & Its Trial – Shaykh Zayd bin Haadi

Al Allaamah Zayd bin Haadi Al Madkhalee (rahimahullah) said:

“And People are not exactly similar, the reality is that ignorance is like (different levels of) darknesses, and ignorance is from the greatest calamity and trial, especially when Allaah grants and favours you with an opportunity in your life for you to learn (Islamic knowledge), you instead spend your entire lifetime in enjoying your worldly physical existence, this is what (true and great) loss is.”

The Blessing Of Eemaan

Allaah (The Most High) said:

And know that, among you there is the Messenger of Allah. If he were to obey you (i.e. follow your opinions and desires) in much of the matter, you would surely be in trouble, but Allah has endeared the Faith to you and has beautified it in your hearts, and has made disbelief, wickedness and disobedience (to Allah and His Messenger) hateful to you. These! They are the rightly guided ones, (This is) a Grace from Allah and His Favour. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. [Soorah al-Hujuraat: Ayah 7-8]

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim said:

Your love for Imaan, desire for it and its beautification in your hearts is not from yourselves; rather it is Allaah who placed it in your hearts.  He is the one who made it preferable and pleasing to you; therefore do not put yourself before My Messenger-neither speak until he speaks nor act until he commands you.  The one (i.e. Allaah) who made you love Imaan is the most knowledgeable concerning what is of benefit for His slaves than yourselves.  And had it not been the Tawfeeq of Allaah upon you, your souls would not have yielded to Imaan.  Imaan would not have been (acquired) through your consultation and bestowed from yourselves, nor would you have given it precedence because your souls are unable and weak to (do that), and cannot reach it….

What is Ikhlaas (Sincerity) – Shaykh Fawzaan

Answered by Shaykh Fawzaan.

Al Allaamah Ash Shaykh Saalih Al Fawzaan (hafidahullah) was asked:

Q: What is the meaning of Ikhlaas? And if a servant intends something else with his worship, what is the ruling [on that]?

A: Ikhlaas means to be free from Shirk. That the person’s deeds, his intention and goal are sincerely for Allaah’s Countenance (The Mighty and Majestic)-neither to associate partners with Allaah through them (i.e. his intention and deeds) nor to show off (in order to be seen) or to be heard. Neither aiming (to please) other than Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic) through them (i.e. his intention and deeds) nor seeking the dunya (i.e. worldly material), nor the praise of people, thus a deed  becomes one (carried out) sincerely for Allaah’s Countenance because Allah does not accept deeds except those that are sincerely (done) for His Countenance.
