[1] Fataawaa on the virtues of good deeds, by Shaikh Muhammad Bin Abdillaah As-Subayyil (rahimahullaah): [Recitation of the Qur’aan after finishing my work]

Question:

The questioner says: I work as an accountant in one of the companies and I have a lot of free time during which I read the Qur’aan and listen to the Noble Qur’aan Broadcast. However, when my boss arrives I close the Mushaf. So what is the ruling on this action (of mine)? Benefit us with an answer and may Allaah reward you.

Answer:

If it is the case that you have carried out your work perfectly and fulfil everything your boss requires of you without delay, then it is permissible for you to read the Qur’aan and beneficial books, and listen to the Noble Qur’aan Broadcast in your free time. Rather benefitting from this (free) time in such activities is better than wasting it in that which does not benefit.

Do Not Worship The Sun and The Moon, But Worship The One Who Created Them

Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ اللَّيْلُ وَالنَّهَارُ وَالشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ ۚ لَا تَسْجُدُوا لِلشَّمْسِ وَلَا لِلْقَمَرِ وَاسْجُدُوا لِلَّهِ الَّذِي خَلَقَهُنَّ إِن كُنتُمْ إِيَّاهُ تَعْبُدُونَ

And from among His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Prostrate not to the sun nor to the moon, but prostrate to Allah Who created them, if you (really) worship Him. [1]

Why do you seek knowledge? Ponder upon this statement of Imaam Ahmad

Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullaah) stated:

(There) is nothing equal to knowledge, for the one who makes his intention correct (i.e. sincere). So they (i.e. the people) said: And how do (we) make the intention correct (i.e. sincere) O father of Abdullaah?! He said: You make an intention to remove ignorance from yourself and others.

A means of receiving Allaah’s Aid and Assistance- By Imaam Ibnul Qayyim

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said:

”The level of a slave’s (sincerity) in his intention, determination, aim and fervent desire determines Allaah’s Tawfeeq (i.e. Allaah’s guidance for a slave and enabling him to act upon it) and His Aid for him.  Aid and Assistance from Allaah descends upon the slaves in accordance with the (sincerity) in their determination.”

Be Mindful of Kibr because it destroys a person!

Allaah (The Most High) said:

تِلْكَ الدَّارُ الْآخِرَةُ نَجْعَلُهَا لِلَّذِينَ لا يُرِيدُونَ عُلُوّاً فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلا فَسَاداً وَالْعَاقِبَةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ

That home of the Hereafter (i.e. Paradise), We shall assign to those who rebel not against the truth with pride and oppression in the land nor do mischief by committing crimes. And the good end is for the Muttaqun (pious) [Surah Al-Qasas Ayah 83]

 Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَلا تَمْشِ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَحاً إِنَّكَ لَنْ تَخْرِقَ الْأَرْضَ وَلَنْ تَبْلُغَ الْجِبَالَ طُولاً

And walk not on the earth with conceit and arrogance. Verily, you can neither rend nor penetrate the earth, nor can you attain a stature like the mountains in height.’’ [Surah Al-Israa Ayah 37]

Allaah (The Most High) said:

 وَلا تُصَعِّرْ خَدَّكَ لِلنَّاسِ وَلا تَمْشِ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَحاً إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍ فَخُورٍ

And turn not your face away from men with pride, nor walk in insolence through the earth. Verily, Allah likes not each arrogant boaster. [Surah Luqman Ayah 18]

The greatest type of reliance upon Allaah is: Reliance upon Allaah in (seeking) guidance; establishing Tawheed; adhering to the path of the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) and striving against the people of falsehood. This is the Tawukkul of the Messengers and particularly that of their (true) followers.
