Indeed the True Believers are those who Place their Trust In Allaah

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Indeed the True Believers are those who Place their Trust In Allaah azza-Wajall.

Hadeeth no.49:

On the authority of ‘Umar ibn Al-Khattaab May Allaah be Pleased with him, narrated from the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم who said:

“If you rely upon Allah with the best level of Tawakkul (placing ones trust and reliance in Allaah) with him, He will provide you with sustenance just as He provides for the birds – they leave out (in the morning) with empty stomachs and return (in the evening) with full stomachs ” Reported in Tirmidhee1, Ahmad2 and others3.

Imaam Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbaliرحمه الله  said regarding this hadeeth:   This hadeeth is from the principles of At-Tawakkul, and it is from the greatest of the reasons that bring about ones provisions (from Allaah).

Allaah (عز وجل) said:

“And whomsoever fears Allaah and keeps his duty to him, he will make for him a way to get out (from every difficulty. And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allah, then He will suffice him.”4

And indeed the Messenger of Allaah read these verses to Abu Dharr al-Ghifaaree and said to him: “If all of the people were to take heed of these (verses), then indeed it would suffice them.”

{Meaning: If they were to achieve At-Taqwaa and At-Tawakkul they will find contentment in their affairs, be they affairs of the Deen or of the Dunyaa. And this Kalaam has already been brought forth in the explanation of the Hadeeth of Ibn Abbaas: (( Be Mindful of Allaah and Allaah will Protect you.))5}

Some of the Salaf have said:

“It is sufficient in your beseeching/invoking of Him, to know in your heart the that you have the highest reliance in Him, for how many  servants from His servants entrust Him with their affairs and then He suffices them with that which they desire. Then they (the salaf) would read:

وَمَن يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَل لَّهُ مَخْرَجًا

ۚ وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَحْتَسِبُ ۚ وَمَن يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ

“And whomsoever fears Allaah and keeps his duty to him, he will make for him a way to get out (from every difficulty. And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allah, then He will suffice him.”6

The correct meaning of Tawakkul:

Ibn Rajab says: “It is the true reliance of the heart in Allaah (عز وجل)  to seek beneficial affairs and to repel the harm (in relation) to all affairs of the Dunyaa and the hereafter, and to leave all affairs to Him and to have certain Eemaan that indeed none can give nor withhold, and none can benefit nor harm besides Allaah (alone).”

1. 1 Reported by Imaam Tirmidhee in his Sunan : 37 – Book of Zuhd, 33 – Book of Reliance Upon Allaah (4/573) hadeeth no. 2344. And Aboo Eesaa At-Tirmidhee commented: “This hadeeth is Hasan (Good) Saheeh (Authentic). I do not know of it except with this position. Imaam Al Albaanee authenticated the hadeeth in his ‘Saheeh ut-Tirmidhee’.

2.Reported by Imaam Ahmad in his Musnad (1/243) with a chain of narration that is authentic.

3 Also reported in Kitaabur-Raqaa’iq, and Al-Kubraa, both of Imaam An-Nasa’ee, Ibn Hibbaan in his Saheeh, and Ibn Maajah in Az-Zuhd.

4 Surah At-Talaaq (65): Verses 2-3

5 The famous hadeeth that is collected by Imaam An-Nawawee in his 40 Ahaadeeth, from Sunan At-Tirmidhee:

On the authority of Abil-Abbaas Abdullaah ibn Abbaas May Allaah be pleased with them who said: “I was behind the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ one day and he said to me: “O Young boy, I shall teach you some words: Be mindful of Allaah and He will Protect you, Be Mindful of Allaah and you will find him at your side, If you ask, then ask only of Allaah, If you seek aid, then seek His aid only. And know, that if the whole world were to gather together in order to benefit you, then they would not be able to do so, except if Allaah had written for them to do so. And if the whole world were to gather together to harm you, then they would not be able to do so, except if Allaah Had written for them to do so. The pens have been lifted and the pages are dry. Tirmidhee said: This hadeeth is Hasan (Good) Saheeh (Authentic) Albaani authenticated it in his checking of Tirmidhee.

Reminder: Few Issues Related to The Month of Sha’baan – its Middle (15th Day and Night) by Shaikh Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah)

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

In the Saheehayn  (Bukhaari and Muslim) Aa’isha (radiyallaahu-anhaa) said: I have never seen the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam fast a complete month except Ramadhaan; and I have never seen him fast  more in any other month than Shabaan (i.e. he used to fast a lot during shabaan but not the complete month because Ramadhaan was the only month he fasted completely).

Specifying Fasting On the Middle of Shabaan (15th)

Ibn Rajab mentioned in Lataa’if Al-Ma’aarif page 341 that Ibn Maajah narrated a hadeeth in which the Prophet said that when the 15th of Shabaan arrives, one should pray at night and fast during the day etc

This hadeeth is Mawdoo (fabricated) and in its chain of transmission is a man called Abu Bakr Abdullah Bin Muhammad -well known as [ابن أب بسرة ].  Imaam Ahmad and Ibn Ma’een said that he used to fabricate hadeeth.

So based on the above, it is not from the Sunnah to specify the middle (15th of Sha’baan) for fasting. And if specifying it for fasting is not a Sunnah, then it is a bidah. The Prophet said, ‘’Every bidah is misguidance.’’

The Virtues of the Night of 15th of Sha’baan

Shaikh Bin Baaz (rahimahullaah) said that all the ahaadeeth regarding the virtues of the night of 15th of Sha’baan are weak.

However, one can pray the night prayer (i.e. Tahajjud) on this night just as any other night, such as the common practice of a person who usually prays Tahajjud. He can pray on this night without specifying it with extra worship based on the belief that there is special virtue in doing so as opposed to other nights. If a person performs the Tahajjud (or night prayer) on this night only (i.e. out of belief that it is a special night), this is a bidah because there is nothing reported (authentic) that the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasalam) or his companions did so. The hadeeth reported in this regard is weak. Shaikh Bin Baaz (rahimahullaah) said that all the Ahaadeeth narrated about this are fabricated.

The Belief That Allaah Decrees Everything That Will Happen During the Year on 15th Night of Sha’baan

This belief is false.

Allaah (The Most High) said:

We sent it (this Qur’an) down on a blessed night [(i.e. night of Qadr, Surah No: 97) in the month of Ramadan, the 9th month of the Islamic calendar]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship].  Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments.  Amran (i.e. a Command or this Qur’an or the Decree of every matter) from Us. Verily, We are ever sending (the Messengers), (As) a Mercy from your Lord. Verily! He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. [Surah Ad-Dukhan Aayaat 3-6]

Allaah (The Most High) said:

إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ

Verily! We have sent it (this Qur’an) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree) [Surah Al-Qadr.. Ayah 1]

So whoever claims that on the 15th night of Sha’baan is when Allaah decrees what will take place during the year, then he has opposed what is established in these Aayaat.

Cooking food for the poor and parents specially on the day of 15th of Sha’baan (i.e. as an act of worship)

This has no basis and specifying such acts on such a day is from the acts of bidah. The Prophet said: Every Bidah is misguidance.’’

Finally: The Shaikh (rahimahullaah) spoke about the perils of Bidah. We found a similar article (based on the speech of the Shaikh) already translated by the students at Salafipublications (may Allaah preserve them) on this link:

A Brief Reminder To Those Mancunian Non-Muslims Who Genuinely Made a Mistake and Recently Had To Apologise For Associating The Statement ‘ Allaahu Akbar’ With The Atrocities of The Vile Terrorists

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Allaah [The Most High] said:

[وَكَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيراً – And magnify Him (i.e. Allaah) with all the magnificence, [Allahu-Akbar (Allah is the Most Great)]. [17:111]

Imaam Ibn Jareer [rahimahullaah] stated that the above verse means: ”And exalt your Lord O Muhammad by way of what He has commanded you to exalt Him with- in speech and deeds. Obey Him in what He has commanded you [i.e. by fulfilling it] and in what He has forbidden you [i.e. by keeping away from it]. [Ref 1]

Imaam Muhammad Al-Ameen Ash-Shanqeetee [rahimahullaah] stated that the above verse means: Exalt [Allaah] with a powerful exaltation.  Manifest the greatness of Allah (by) strictly guarding what He has commanded and keeping away from what He has forbidden, and hasten towards everything that pleases Him, and this is similar to another statement of Allaah: [لِتُكَبِّرُوا اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَاكُمْ  -That you may magnify Allah for His Guidance to you]. [Ref 2] [End of quotes]

The above explanations are that of the rightly guided scholars- those known for their sound knowledge of the Islamic creed. Exalting Allaah with [Allaahu Akbar – Allaah is the Greatest] is utilised in obedience to Allaah and not in disobedience. As for the terrorists [savages], they utilise this statement, whilst committing evil and destruction. Therefore, we hope that this affair is clarified for those non-Muslims who genuinely misunderstood this concept. Here are a few links to demonstrate the fact that Islaam is free from the evil and murderous activities of the misguided terrorists.

Follow the Evidences & Not Innovate – Shaykh Zayd Al Madkhalee

Shaykh Zayd ibn Haadi Al Madkhalee (Rahimahullah) said:

Indeed the people are commanded to follow (evidences) and they are prohibited from innovating (in the religion), since they are not allowed except to hold firm to the text and evidences from the Quraan and Sunnah, upon the understanding of the predecessors of this Ummah and those who walked upon their way step by step (exactly without any change).

And there is no allowable pathway to divert away from this to the statements of the people of innovation and misguidances and the people of opposing opinions to the correct Islamic belief and his upright and sound methodology.

What Is Said to People Who Innovate – Shaykh Ubayd Al Jaabiree

Shaykh Ubayd Al Jaabiree (Allah preserve him) said:

It is said to those who innovate:

“Do you believe that Allah has perfected his religion, in his book and the Sunnah of his messenger (Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam), or not?”

So if he said:

“No”,

He has disbelieved, and he’s become from those who have legislated that which Allah did not give permission for. [Ref 1- see footnote 1 at the end of this article]

And if he said:

“Yes”

Then it is said to him:

“Is this (action of yours) from that which came in the Quran or Sunnah?!

It is not allowed for you, except to abandon that deed. And if not, then you have become a misguided innovator and you are not a good doer.” [Ref 2- see footnote 2 at the end of this article]

Finally, it should be absolutely clear to all of us (commoners) that the people of knowledge (scholars and those students whom the scholars have stated that they are qualified in this affair) are the ones with the ability to establish unambiguous proofs, remove doubts and pass the judgement of Takfeer or Tabdee. What is Ikhlaas (Sincerity) – Shaykh Fawzaan

Answered by Shaykh Fawzaan.

Al Allaamah Ash Shaykh Saalih Al Fawzaan (hafidahullah) was asked:

Q: What is the meaning of Ikhlaas? And if a servant intends something else with his worship, what is the ruling [on that]?

A: Ikhlaas means to be free from Shirk. That the person’s deeds, his intention and goal are sincerely for Allaah’s Countenance (The Mighty and Majestic)-neither to associate partners with Allaah through them (i.e. his intention and deeds) nor to show off (in order to be seen) or to be heard. Neither aiming (to please) other than Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic) through them (i.e. his intention and deeds) nor seeking the dunya (i.e. worldly material), nor the praise of people, thus a deed  becomes one (carried out) sincerely for Allaah’s Countenance because Allah does not accept deeds except those that are sincerely (done) for His Countenance.

Explanation of the Muslim’s Testification of Faith – Imaam Sadi

The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) said: Islaam is built upon 5;

  1. The Shahaadah (testification) that there is none that is truly deserving of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah
  2. The establishment of the (five compulsory) Prayers
  3. Paying of Zakah (Obligatory charity paid annually if minimum level of wealth has been reached and maintained for a full Islamic year)
  4. Performance of Hajj (Obligatory major pilgirmage (performed once) to the Kabah in Makkah, for those who have the ability)
  5. Fasting the month of Ramadhaan

So the Shahaadah: Laa ilaaha illa Allah:

Is the knowledge, belief and adherence of the slave that there is nothing (or no-one) deserving of divinity or worship except Allah Alone, having no partner.

Therefore that which is obligated upon the slave:

Is to purify and sincerely (direct) all (affairs) of the religion to Allah [The Most High], and that the slave’s acts of worship – the apparent and the hidden – are all for (carried out for the sake of) Allah alone, and that he does not associate any partners with Him in any of the affairs of the religion.

This is the foundation of the religion of all of the messengers and their followers as Allah the Most High has said:

وَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِىٓ إِلَيۡهِ أَنَّهُ ۥ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۟ فَٱعۡبُدُونِ

And We did not send any Messenger before you [O Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam)] but We revealed to him (saying): Lâ ilâha illa Ana [none has the right to be worshipped but I (Allâh)], so worship Me (Alone and none else).” [Al-Anbiyaa (25)]

And The Shahaadah that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah:

That the Slave believes (and holds as creed) that Allah sent Muhammad to all of the humans and jinn, a bringer of glad tidings and a warner, calling them to single out Allah [in worship (Tawheed)] and to obey Him, by affirming the news/information (Allaah has made known to them),  obeying His commands and staying far away from His prohibitions. And that (the person) believes that there is no happiness and no salvation in the worldly life or hereafter, except by way of eemaan (belief) in Allaah and by obeying [the Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam)]. And (know) that it is obligatory to put love of him before love of yourself and your children and all of the people.

And (to believe) that Allah aided him with miracles, as an indication of (the truthfulness) of his message and the complete knowledge Allaah gave him and (his) high moral character, and that his religion is comprised of guidance, mercy and truth; worldly and religious benefits.

And the greatest sign is this Great Quraan, due to the truth it contains, the information about (various affairs of the worldly life and the afterlife), commands and prohibitions.

And Allah knows best.

When is Abandoning Innovation a Sunnah? Ibn Uthaymeen

Al Allaamah Al Faqeeh Muhammad ibn Saalih Al Uthaymeen (rahimahullah) was asked:

Question: It is said that indeed a bidah is not initiated except that a Sunnah similar to it is abandoned, as one of the salaf stated(1); so what is the abandoned Sunnah as a result of innovating the bidah of mawlid?

Answer: The abandoned Sunnah (in this instance is in relation to) abandoning this bidah because indeed the Sunnah can be by way of [ترك -(abandoning) and by way of فعل (action)]. If the Messenger ( sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam ) left something (i.e. an act of worship) despite the fact that there was a means for action, but he did not do it, then leaving it is Sunnah. So here we say: You (people) initiated a bidah and abandoned a sunnah, and Sunnah here is to abandon this bidah.
