A Reminder: A tremendous reward in Jannah

Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَعِنْدَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ عِينٌ

كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَكْنُونٌ

”And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved.”  [As-Saffaat: Aayaat 48-49]

And in a hadeeth reported by Abu Hurairah, the women of Jannah are described as follows: ‘’The marrow of the bones of the wives legs will be seen through the flesh out of excessive beauty.’’  [Bukhari: Number 3245]

We ask Allaah (The Most High) to grant us Tawfeeq to fear and obey Him as He should be feared and obeyed. We ask Him (The Most Merciful) to show us forgiveness, overlook our short comings and forgive us our sins, and enter us into paradise. …Aameen

Updated: Some of the benefits of today’s lesson in Kitaab at-tawheed with Shaikh Ibn Ramzaan Al-Hajiri

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Ustaadh Abu Khadeejah (may Allaah preserve him) sent this message via WhatsApp from Abu Afnaan Muhammad (may Allaah preserve him):

From some of the benefits of today’s lesson in Kitab at Tawheed with Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Ramzan al Hajiri حفظه الله تعالى  in the city of ad Dammam:

Pencil1. Being firm upon the truth is more difficult than knowing the truth.
Pencil2. Students of knowledge – spread at tawheed. The people are in need of at tawheed more than their need of food, drink and clothing. A person will not die until the provisions Allah has decreed for him have reached him, but if he dies upon as shirk (his abode is the hellfire forever) This is the concern because he can have all the dunya and it wont benefit him if he goes to Allah upon shirk.
Pencil3. The people of falsehood and bidah are the same throughout the ages in their refutation of the truth. If you tell a Jahmi the verses regarding Allahs names and attributes, he’ll say ‘don’t qoute the verses of the Hashawiyah (deragatory name used by the jahmiyah to disparage ahl sunnah).
If you go to someone who worships graves and tell him the verses of tawheed al ibaada, he’ll say don’t use the verses of the wahabiyah. And if you go the the khawarij and tell them the verses and ahadith of hearing and obeying (the rulers) they will respond don’t use the verses and proofs of the jaamiyah (reference to Sheikh Muhammad Amaan). Ya subhaan Allah!! Look at how they describe verses and ahadith. Verses of the Quran and ahaadith of the Messenger. Are these not the statements of the Lord of Allah Worlds and the statements of the best of mankind?
Pencil4. A person is misguided if he is ignorant of the truth with its proofs and if he wanted to know the truth he is prevented from arriving at it as there are those inviduals who warn from the truth and its people. So he is ignorant of the truth and has become an enemy to its people.
The sheikh mentioned a statement by Ibn Baz: ‘miskeen, a person is ignorant and then becomes an enemy to the people of truth. How will know the truth? Mushkilah!!!’

أسأل الله أن يجزي الشيخ خير الجزاء و أن ينفع به و يبارك في علمه

The Month of Al-Muharram and Fasting on the day of Ashoorah

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

O people! Fear Allaah (The Most High) and thank Him for the apparent and unapparent blessings He has bestowed upon you.  He has not ceased granting you occasions of good and virtue.  The month of hajj has elapsed and now you have reached the month of Al-Muharram, which Allaah has specially chosen.

Firstly: Muharram is amongst those months in which Allaah made fighting forbidden.  Allaah (The Most High) said:

(إِنَّ عِدَّةَ الشُّهُورِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْراً فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ)

‘’ Verily, the number of months with Allah is twelve months (in a year), so was it ordained by Allah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are Sacred.’’ [9:36]

These four months are: Dhul Qida, Dhul Hijja, the Month of Muharram and Rajab—Allaah made fighting forbidden during these months in order that those who performed the Hajj and Umrah are safe in their journey to Hajj and Umrah.  However, when Islaam came—all praise is due to Allaah—safety became widespread and the disbelievers were driven away and Jihaad in the path of Allaah (The Might and Majestic) was established whenever that was possible.

Indeed this month of Muharram has virtue; the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: ‘’The best fasting after the month of Ramadhaan is the fasting in the month of Muharram.’’  So it is desired to increase in fasting during this month.  It is the month that the companions—during Umar’s time (radiyallaahu-anhu)—chose to be the beginning of the Hijri calendar.

Virtues of the Month of Muharram

Amongst its greatest virtues is that the Day of Ashoorah is found within it.  It is a Day in which the Prophet (sallal-laahua-alayhi-wasallam) selected for the performance of fasting.  Likewise, Moosaa (alayhis-sallam) fasted on this day in order to thank Allaah for drowning pharaoh and his people.  And after the death of Moosa (alayhis-salaam), the Jews also used to fast on this day of Ashoorah.

When the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) arrived in Madeenah, he found the Jews fasting on this day of Ashoorah, so he said to them: ‘’What is this fasting of yours?’’  They said: ‘’It was the day Allaah gave victory to Moosa and his people and humiliated pharaoh and his people.  Indeed, Moosaa fasted on this Day, so we also fast. So the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: We have more right to (follow) Moosaa than you.’’

The Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) continuously fasted this day and commanded the companions to fast as well.  However, the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) want us to oppose the Jews, so he commanded us to fast a day before Ashoorah (i.e. the 9th of Muharram) before fasting on the 10th (i.e. Day of Ashoorah); and it is stated in another narration: ‘’A day after it (i.e. a day after Ashoorah); but fasting on the 9th day of Muharram before fasting the 10th of Al-Muharram (i.e. the day of Ashoorah) is more established.

So we fast on the day of Ashoorah (i.e. the 10th of Muharram) in order to follow the example of Allaah’s Prophet Moosaa (alayhis-salaam), and it was the day in which Allaah gave victory to the Muslims (of Bani Israaeel).   It is victory for the Muslims until the Day of Judgement and a blessing from Allaah (The Mighty and Majestic) for which He is thanked through the act of fasting.

Fasting on the Day of Ashoorah is a Sunnah Mu-akkadah [i.e. a practice the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) performed continuously).  Therefore, the Muslim fasts on the 9th of Muharram and the 10th of Muharram, and this is a Sunnah that has continued—all praise is due to Allaah—and fasting on this day is emphasized, whilst seeking Allaah’s reward and in order to thank Him.

The way of the Prophets and their true followers is that they thank Allaah for giving them victory through performance of acts of obedience and remembrance of Allaah.  However, they do not innovate anything in this affair because that was the way of the people of the Pre-Islamic period of ignorance.  It is not permissible for a Muslim to exceed the limits in this affair.

As for the shia, they make the Day of Ashoorah a Day of sadness, weeping and wailing—may Allaah disfigure them—because it was the day Husain (radiyallaahu-anhu) who was murdered.  Indeed calamity is not to be faced with wailing, sins and evil deeds; rather it should be faced with obedience to Allaah and hoping for Allaah’s reward.  There is no doubt that the killing of Husain (radiyallaahu-anhu) was a calamity, but Allaah commanded us to exercise patience and hope for His reward during calamities.  What is legislated on this Day of Ashoorah is that we fast and there should be no newly invented matters in the religion.

Likewise, there are those ignorant ones amongst the Sunnis who consider this Day as a day of happiness and some of them call it the New Year; so they behave generously towards their children, serving them food and bestowing gifts to one another.  Indeed, these affairs are innovations and newly invented matters in the religion, and they are not permissible.  This action of those ignorant Sunnis is the other side of falsehood compared to the actions of the shia! The shia grieve and the ignorant Sunnis display happiness.  Do they (i.e. these ignorant Sunni) show happiness for murder of Husain (radiyallaahu-anhu), because this ignorant act will be considered as a manifestation of happiness due to the murder of Husain (radiyallaahu-anhu) on this Day.   Therefore, it is obligated upon the Muslim to follow the Sunnah and abandon innovations in the religion.  Innovations in the religion are not opposed with other innovations worse than them; rather innovations are opposed by abandoning them and reviving the Sunnah. Raising Hands for Dua after the Adhan – Permanent Committee

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

It is legistlated after the adhaan and after responding to the muadhin and (then after) sending peace and blessings upon the Prophet -May Allah’s Peace be Upon Him- that he says what is reported from the Prophet

“اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ، وَالصَّلَاةِ الْقَائِمَةِ، آتِ مُحَمَّداً الْوَسِيلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ، وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَاماً مَحْمُوداً الَّذِي وَعَدْتَهُ،1

Because that is affirmed from the prophet -May Allah’s Peace be Upon Him- from the hadith of Jaabir bin Abdillah al-Ansaari-May Allah be pleased with him- in Sahih Al-Bukhaari, and that is without raising of the hands, because that is not reported in this place, so it is considered an innovation to do it.

Heedless of Allaah and his desires are his god – Shaykh Uthaymeen and Shaykh As-Sa’di

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Shaykh Uthaymeen warned:

If you see your time and life pass by, and you have not produced anything worthwhile or beneficial, and you do not find any blessing in your time then be wary that the statement of Allah has overcome you:

“And obey not him whose heart We have made heedless of Our Remembrance, one who follows his own lusts and whose affair (deeds) has been lost.” Al-Kahf: 28 [Ref 1]

And in this ayah is an indication of the importance of the heart’s presence when performing dhikr of Allaah. And that the person who remembers Allah with [only] his tongue and not his heart, [then] the barakah [blessing] is removed from his actions and his time to the extent that his deeds become lost.[Ref 2]

Imam As-Sa’di -rahimahullah- said about this verse in his tafseer. [The one who is] heedless of Allaah then his recompense is that Allah has made him heedless of His remembrance. “Who follows his own lusts” – whatever his soul desires he does and he strives in its attainment, even if it was to his destruction and loss. [If that occurs] then verily he has taken his desires as his god, as Allah the Most High said:

“Have you seen him who takes his own lust (vain desires) as his ilah (god), and Allah knowing (him as such), left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart, and put a cover on his sight. Who then will guide him after Allah? Will you not then remember?” Soorah Al-Jathiya:23[Ref 3]

Hadith: The Old Woman of Bani Israa’eel – As-Saheeha (313)

[AS-SAHEEHAH (no. 313)]:

Aboo Ya’laa reported in his ‘Musnad’ (3/441), and al-Haakim (2/404-405 and 571-572), through three chains from Yoonus ibn Abee Ishaaq: from Aboo Burdah: from Aboo Moosaa who said: ‘The Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) came to a bedouin who treated him generously, so he said to him: ‘Come to us.’ So he came to him, Allaah’s Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said [and in one narration: Allaah’s Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) stopped off  as a guest with a bedouin, and he treated him generously. So Allaah’s Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said to him: ‘We will remember this, so come to us.’   So later the bedouin came to him, and Allaah’s Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said:

‘Ask for whatever you need.’ so he said: ‘A she-camel with its saddle, and some goats which my wife can milk.’  So Allaah’s Messenger said: ‘Are you unable to be like the old woman of the Banoo Israa.eel?’  [So his Companions said: ‘O Messenger of Allaah! And what does ‘the old woman of the Banoo Israa.eel’ refer to?’

He said: ‘When Moosaa left Egypt at night with the Banoo Israa.eel they lost their way. So he said: ‘What is wrong?’ So their learned men said:[‘We shall tell you.] When death came to Yoosuf he took a solemn agreement from us in Allaah’s Name that we would not depart from Egypt until we carried his body along with us.’ He said: ‘Then who knows the place of his grave?’ [They said: None of us knows where the grave of Yoosuf is, except for ] an old woman of the Banoo Israa.eel. So he sent for her, and she came to him.

He said: ‘Guide me to the grave of Yoosuf.’ She said: [‘No, by Allaah! I will not do so] until you grant me my reward.’ He said: ‘And what reward do you want?’ She said: ‘That I should be with you in Paradise.’ So he disliked to grant her that, but Allaah revealed to him: ‘Grant her her due reward.ý So she went with them to a pond: a place where water gathered, and she said: ‘Drain this water away.’ So they drained it. She said: ‘Dig, and extract the body of Yoosuf.’ So when they lifted it out and placed it upon the ground the path suddenly became bright like the light of day.’

The context is Aboo Ya’laa’s, and the (bracketed) additions along with the other narrations are al-Haakim’s, and he said; ‘Saheeh’ to the standard of the two Shaikhs, and Ahmad and Ibn Ma’een judged that Yoonus heard the hadeeth ‘There is no marriage except with a guardian’ from Aboo Burdah.’ And adh-Dhahabee agreed.

And I say: It is to the standard of Muslim alone, since al-Bukhaaree did not report any of Yoonus’s narrations in his ‘Saheeh’, but rather in his ‘Juz.ul-Qiraa’ah…..’
