Part 2: False Beliefs of The Grave Worshippers-The Hanifi Scholars Clarify

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Al-Allaamah Aloosee (rahimahullaah) continued…….

And amongst the traits of the people of the era of the pre-Islamic era of ignorance is that:

They used to carry out worship whilst associating the righteous people as partners to Allaah in worship. They regarded this to be an elevation of the (righteous people) which Allaah loves. Also they intended (through this worship of the righteous people) to get closer to Allaah and to attain success by seeking their intercession; because they thought that the (righteous people) were pleased with them for carrying out such acts. Indeed, the Qur’aan has informed us of this trait of theirs, and He (The Most High) said:

‘’Verily, We have sent down the Book to you (O Muhammad) in truth: So worship Allah (Alone) by doing reli-gious deeds sincerely for Allah’s sake only, (and not to show-off, and not to set up rivals with Him in worship). Surely, the religion (i.e. the worship and the obedience) is for Allah only. And those who take Auliya’ (protec-tors and helpers) besides Him (say): “We worship them only that they may bring us near to Allah.” Verily, Allah will judge between them concerning that wherein they differ. Truly, Allah guides not him who is a liar, and a disbeliever.’’ [1]

Al-Jazeerah News [Channel of Evil]-Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan (hafidha-hullaah) a member of the committee of Major Scholars (Saudi Arabia) stated:

There is much evil in Al-Jazeerah news. There is much evil and provocation in it. There are a people presented in it who speak haphazardly in the affairs of the Religion and in the affairs of fiqh. They make unlawful that which Allaah has made lawful or make lawful that which Allaah has made unlawful in their verdicts, and this is a severe danger. The evil of hearkening to news in it is widespread at present… and all that is attributed to it is evil and none praises it.

Guidance For The Youth Of The Ummah-Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan (hafidha-hullaah)

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan stated: All Praise is be to Allaah Lord of the Aalameen, and may His Peace and Blessings be upon our prophet Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam), his household and his companions.  To proceed:

The youth of the nation are the foundation of humanity upon which the nation is made to stand firm; and the young men are the successive generation to shoulder the responsibilities after their fathers.  They possess bodily strength and are thoughtful, and they possess new talent not possessed by the elders.  The elders possess wisdom and experience and the youth possess strength and vigour. Therefore, if the youth and the elders co-operate for the advancement of the nation, a lot of good will result from that.

Question Them About The Sunnah

In The Naame of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Hishaam Bin Urwah (rahimahullaah) used to say:

”Do not question the people about what they have innovated today,

because they have prepared answers for it;

rather ask them about the Sunnah because they do not know it.”

A False And Evil Claim: The Manhaj of The Salaf Is Not Suitable For The Present Era

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Question to Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him]: ”Some of the people claim that the manhaj of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa’ah is not suitable for this time, and they sight (as proof for their argument) that the precise regulations of the Sharee’ah held by Ahlus Sunnah cannot be actualized in this present era.

Answer:

The one who holds that the manhaj of the Salafus Saalih is not suitable for the rectification of the (affairs) in this time is one to be considered misguided and misguiding others because the manhaj of the Salafus Saalih is what Allaah has commanded us to follow till the establishment of the hour. He (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: ”’Verily those of you who live long after me will see a lot of differences, so hold fast to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly-Guided Khulafaah after me. Cling to it tightly and bite unto it with your molar teeth”

This is an address to the ummah till the establishment of the hour.  It demonstrates that the Manhaj of the Salaf must be followed and that it is suitable for rectifying the (affairs) in every time and place. Allaah (subhaanah) said:

‘And the first to embrace Islaam of the Muhaajroon (those who migrated from Makkah to Al-Madinah) and the Ansaar (the citizens of Al-Madinah who helped and gave aid to the Muhaajiroon) and also those who followed them exactly (in Faith). Allaah is well-pleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him.”

[وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوهُم بِـإِحۡسَـٰنٍ۬ -And also those who followed them exactly (in faith)]: this includes the entire ummah till the establishment of the hour. Therefore, it is obligatory upon the ummah to follow the manhaj of the Muhaajiroon and the Ansaar.   Imaam Maalik (rahimahullaah) said: ‘The later part of this ummah will not be rectified except by that which rectified its earlier part.’

The one who wishes to isolate the ummah from the Salafus Saalih is one who wishes evil for the Muslims. He is one who wishes to change Islaam and he is one who wishes to initiate innovations and Mukhaalafaat (things that are in opposition to the pure Religion). It is obligatory to reject this one, cut off his argument and warn against his evil because the Manhaj of the Salaf must be followed and the Salaf must be taken as examples. The Manhaj of the Salaf must be followed and that is what is in the Book of Allaah and in the Sunnah of His Messenger as we have mentioned.  The one who wishes to cut off the Khalaf of the Ummah from its Salaf is one who works corruption in the earth. It is obligatory to reject, refute his statement and warn against him.  The shee’ah and those in agreement with them are the ones known for uttering such statements, so they are not be to be given any consideration.

The True Faqeeh [A person bestowed with understanding in the religion]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Muhammad Baazmool (hafidha-hullaah) stated:

Indeed, the Salaf did not designate the name faqeeh, except to the one whose knowledge was accompanied by action, as when Sad bin Ibraaheem was asked, ”who amongst the people of madina was most superior in understanding”, he said, ”the one with more taqwah.”   Farqad As Subkhee asked Hassan al Basree about some affair, so he answered him. Then he (farqad) said, ”Indeed, the fuqahaa are in opposition to you”. So Al Hassan said, ”may your mother be bereaved of you O Farqad, and have you seen a faqeeh with your eyes? Rather a faqeeh is one who abstains from the dunyah and has a fervent desire for the Afterlife.  He is one who has insight in his religion and is constant in the worship of his Lord. He neither speaks ill of the one above him nor does he mock at the one below him, and he does not look for a gain from knowledge Allaah has bestowed upon him”.  Some of the Salaf said: Indeed the faqeeh is the one who neither makes the people despair of Allaah’s mercy nor does he make them feel secure of Allaah’s plan, nor does he call to the Qur’aan and desires what is in opposition to it.

The Reality of Philosophy – ibn Taymiyyah

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Sheikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said:

”Philosophical logic is like the flesh of a camel at the top of a mountain. It is not easy to climb the mountain, nor is the flesh good enough to justify climbing, nor is the path leading to it easy to follow.’’   He (rahimahullaah) also said: ”There are no philosophers upon right guidance”  He (rahimahullaah) also said: ‘’Islaam does not have philosophers’’[1]

Shaikh Fawzaan: The Methodology of Ahlus Sunnah In Their Combat Against The Khawaarij

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Imaam Barbahaaree (rahimahullaah) stated in Sharh- As Sunnah:

”It is permissible to fight the Khawaarij if they attack the wealth of the Muslims, or the Muslims and their families, but if they are dispersed, then the Muslim Ruler is not to seek after them, nor are their wounded to be killed, nor is booty taken from them, nor may those taken captive be killed, nor are those who flee to be pursued.”

Sheikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan commented on the above statement of Imaam Barbahaaree (rahimahullaah) saying:

We know that the khawaarij are those who hold that they can renounce obedience (to the ruler). They hold that the ruler is not given the oath of allegiance or that it is not binding upon the people to maintain their oath of allegiance to him when he becomes sinful, and they (also) declare the Muslims to be disbelievers for committing major sins.  So if they adopt this school of thought and there arises neither uproar nor killing, then they are left alone, advised and given clarification in hope that they may repent.  If they cause uproar and manifest their strength, it then becomes obligatory upon the Muslims to fight them to avert their evil.

They are not fought on the basis that they are disbelievers; rather they are fought on the basis that they are Muslims who commit outrage and transgression against other Muslims. That is why when Ameerul Mumineen Ali (radiyallaahu-anhu) was asked about the khawaarij, ”Are they disbelievers?” He said: ”No, they flee from disbelief, but they are a people who have rebelled against us.”    Therefore, they (khawaarij) are not fought on the basis that they are disbelievers and that is why their women and children are not taken as captives, nor is their wealth taken, nor are their wounded killed; because they are only fought to avert their evil and not because of disbelief.

And regarding the saying of Imaam Barbahaaree (rahimahullaah):

‘It is permissible to fight the Khawaarij if they attack the wealth of the Muslims, or the Muslims and their families;’ because the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) commanded that they are to be fought, and because Ali (radiyallaahu-anhu) fought them when they attacked and killed Abdullaah Ibn Khabbaab al Arrat and ripped open the stomach of his pregnant wife.  So Ameerul Mumineen Ali (radiyallaahu-anhu) decided to fight them as they brought about a good reason to be fought against.

And regarding the saying of Imaam Barbahaaree (rahimahullaah): ‘But if they are dispersed, then the Muslim leader is not to seek after them.”  If they refrain from fighting, the ruler is neither to chase them nor carry out a military expedition against them, as long as they do not commit acts of transgression. And no doubt they are misguided and are to be advised in hope that they may return (repentant) and are not fought.

And regarding the saying of Imaam Barbahaaree (rahimahullaah): ‘Nor are their wounded to be killed’; because the evil of the injured person is curtailed.   And regarding the saying of Imaam Barbahaaree (rahimahullaah): ‘Nor is booty to be taken from them’, meaning: their wealth is not to be taken as war booty; because it is the wealth of the Muslims.

And regarding the saying of Imaam Barbahaaree (rahimahullaah): ‘Nor may those taken captive be killed’ because they are Muslims, and by being injured and taken as captive their evil is curtailed.   And regarding the saying of Imaam Barbahaaree (rahimahullaah): ‘Nor are those who flee to be pursued’. If they flee, the leader is to leave them alone and not go after them as their evil is curtailed.

The Means And Their Outcomes – ibn Taymiyyah

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said:

‘’The performance of good deeds has praiseworthy outcomes internally and externally, and likewise sins have (evil outcomes internally and externally). Allaah (The Most High) created the means to this and the means to that, just as He (The Most High) made poison a means to falling ill and death.  The means towards (performing) evil have their means to preventing their occurrence.  Repentance and righteous actions wipes away evil deeds and calamities in the worldly life are an expiation for evil deeds.’’
