The One Who Has Fallen Into Doubts And Desires – Shaykh Rabee ibn Haadi Al-Madkhalee

Shaykh Rabee ibn Haadi Al-Madkhalee (hafidahullah) was asked:

What is your advice – Allah preserve you – to the one who has fell into the sea of desires and doubts?

My advice to him is that he repents to Allah and that he brings to mind the statement of Allah:

قُلْ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِن رَّحْمَةِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ

Say: “O ‘Ibadi (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah, verily Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. [Az-Zumar: 53]

So if you swam in the sea of disbelief for you is to exit with repentance to Allah (tabaaraka wa ta’aala), therefore upon him is to repent to Allah and return to Allah, the door of repentance is open for all of the servants (of Allah).

What Is Zuhd (Abstinence From The Worldly Life) – Abu Sulayman

Abu Sulaymaan [rahimahullaah] said:

“Abstinence from the worldly life is to abandon that which preoccupies you away from [the remembrance and obedience to] Allaah.” He (rahimahullaah) also said: “Everything that preoccupies you away from [remembrance and obedience to] Allaah- be it [your] family, wealth and children- then indeed it is misfortune.”

Indeed The Flesh Of The Scholars Is Poisonous – Ibn Asaakir

Ibn Asaakir [rahimahullaah] said:

Know O my brother! May Allaah grant us and you His Pleasure and make us from those who have awe and fear of Him as He should be feared. Indeed, the flesh of the scholars is poisonous and Allaah’s way of disclosing the hidden affairs of those who diminish their worth is well known.

The One Who Violates the Honour Of The Scholars, Falls Into One Of These Three- Shaykh Fawzaan

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] said:

None violates the honour of the scholars who are upon the truth, except one of three [people]: Either a hypocrite known for [his] hypocrisy, or an evil sinner who hates the scholars because they prevent him from his sinful [acts] of disobedience, or a misguided hizbi who hates the scholars because they neither agree with his hizbiyyah nor with his deviated views.

Two Sources of Wealth By Which One Does Not Fear Poverty – Abu Haazim (rahimahullah)

What is your wealth? He said: I have two (sources) of wealth by way of which I cannot fear poverty, reliance upon Allaah and not being desperate for what people possess. It was said to him: ‘’Do you not fear poverty? He said: ‘’should I fear poverty when my Protector (Allaah) owns what is in the heavens and the earth, and all that is under the soil?!’’

Supplicate To Allah In Times of Ease And He Will Answer In Times Of Difficulty

Abu Ad-Dardaa [radiyallaahu-anhu] said:

Supplicate to Allaah in your times of ease and He will answer your supplication in your times of difficulty.”  A man said to him, ‘’Advise me.” So he said to him, ‘’Remember Allaah in times of ease and He [The Mighty and Majestic] will remember you when you are in difficulty.”

Ibn Mas’ood (radiyallaahu-anhu) said:

Certainty is that you neither please the people to displease Allaah nor envy anyone for the provision Allaah has given him, nor blame anyone for what Allaah has not given you; because Allaah’s provision will neither come to you through the eagerness of the one [who wants it to come to you] nor will it be repelled by the dislike of the one who dislikes that [it should be given to you].

The People Only See The Apparent, But Allah Knows The Inner Self

Abu Hafs  [rahimahullaah] said to Abu Uthmaan Al-Naysaabooriy  [rahimahullaah]: When you sit with the people, then be an admonisher of your heart and soul, and do not be deceived by their gathering around you, for they [are only] aware of what they can see apparently, whilst Allaah is all aware of your inner self [i.e. your heart, soul]
