A man asked Al-Hasan: To whom should I give my daughter in marriage?

A man said to Al-Hasan [Al-Basri (rahimahullaah)]: I have a daughter and she has been sought for marriage, so to whom should I give her in marriage? He (Al-Hasan) said: Marry her to the one who fears Allaah, for he will be kind to her if he loves her and he will not oppress her when he is angry with her.

Greater need for humility of the heart than of the limbs – Shaykh Ibn Uthaimeen

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Shaikh Ibn ‘Uthaimeen said:

Humility of the heart is in greater need of being observed than humility of the limbs. That is because the one who has awe of Allah in his heart is [consequently] more observant of Allah The Mighty and Majestic and of His rights.

Hence, it is necessary for humility of the heart to be paid attention to more than humility of the limbs. It is possible for any individual to practise humility of the limbs, even inside his house. Everyone is able to stand praying motionlessly [out of apparent humility], however having a heart that is heedless. Therefore, it [the heart] is the basis. It is that that requires a person to pay attention to, taking constant and absolute care of it.

Tafsir Surah Yasin, p.36.

[1] Happy Muslims–Be happy, but do not be sinful and avoid this blatant falsehood!

I sit with Ahlus Sunnah and I sit with ahlul bidah!

قيل للإمام الأوزاعي إن رجلاً يقول:أنا أجالس أهل السنة وأجالس أهل البدع

فقال الأوزاعي:هذا رجل يريد أن يساوي بين الحق والباطل

الإبانة-2/456

It was said to Imaam Al-Awzaa’ee (rahimahullaah): Indeed a man says, ‘I sit with Ahlus Sunnah and I sit with ahlul bidah.’

So Al-Awzaa’ee said: This man wants to equate truth with falsehood.

Sufyaan Ath-Thawri-[The first thing we will start with today……!]

Wakee (rahimahullaah) said:

We went out with Sufyaan Ath-Thawri (rahimahullaah) on the day of Eed, so he said:

The first thing we will start with on this day of ours is to lower our gaze.

[الورع of Ibn Abee Dunyaa. 66]

Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz (rahimahullaah) warns against Riyaa!

Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz (rahimahullaah) said:

“Riyaa is that you perform an act (of worship) and intend that the people see you, praise and commend you. And from that is to perform an act (of worship) in order to be heard, such as reading (the Qur’aan) in order that you are praised and that it is said: ”Indeed, his reading is good and beautiful”; or you perform a lot of Dhikr in order that you are praised and it is said: “He performs a lot of dhikr;” or you enjoin good and forbid evil so that you are praised and commended. This is Riyaa and Shirk Asghar. Therefore, it is obligatory to be mindful of this and that you perform your deeds for the Sake of Allaah alone; and not for the people, their praises and commendations for you; rather you learn in order to act and teach your brothers. And you lead them in the prayer whilst hoping for the reward from Allaah and intending to benefit them, and not out of an intention to be seen or heard.

Laziness in Prayer – Shaykh Ibnul ‘Uthaymeen (Rahimahullah)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Whomsoever performs the Prayer upon a manner of laziness then in him is a resemblance to the Hypocrites…so be wary & cautioned from resembling the Hypocrites.
Perform the prayer with energy and happiness & pleasure; and by Allah, indeed the Believer in reality is certainly pleased when the (time for) Prayer arrives because he will stand before Allah and call upon Him.

Due to this, if you see in of yourself laziness in the Prayer then blame yourself because you are without a doubt comparable with the Hypocrites in this characteristic, so alter your way (regards to Prayer & all worship) toward Allah عز وجل and do not be negligent”

[تفسير سورة النساء ٢/٣٦٣]

Translated by Abu Muadh Taqweem – hafidahullah –

Learn to keep quiet just as you learn to speak

Abu Dhayyaal said,  ”Learn to keep quiet just as you learn to speak. If it is that speech is to guide you, then indeed silence protects you. You have two qualities in silence: A quality through which you take knowledge from one who is more knowledgeable than you; and a quality through which you repel the ignorance of one who is more ignorant than you.
