The Best or The Most-Imaam Shanqeetee

Allaah (The Most High) said:

 وَهُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ وَكَانَ عَرْشُهُ

عَلَى الْمَاءِ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا

”And He it is Who has created the heavens and the earth in six Days and His Throne was on the water, that He might try you, which of you is the best in deeds.” [Soorah Hud: Ayah: 7].   He (The Most High) did not say: ”which of you has the most deeds.”

The Purpose of Knowledge: Reminder for Birmingham Salafi Conference

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

By the blessing of Allah سبحانه و تعالى the annual conference will be held at al-Masjid as-Salafi in Birmingham this weekend 21st – 23rd September. A gathering for 3 days wherein the hearts of Salafiyyoon nationally as well as globally will be united in one location, for indeed only yesterday we were informed of the impending arrival of brothers travelling thousands of miles from the Sub-Continent to attend and benefit, purely for the sake of knowledge…may Allah reward them and increase them in knowledge, as all others similarly who strive for the understanding of the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Upon this occasion we remind ourselves of an important affair; indeed it is the affair concerning the purpose of seeking knowledge. Shaikh Ahmad Baazmool stated in his book, “Explanation of the Statement of Ibn Seereen – Indeed this Knowledge is Religion” [p82 – 83], “The intent or purpose behind knowledge is that you can worship Allah upon insight and understanding, and that fear of Allah occurs for you, and that you follow that which the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم and his companions were upon, and the purpose from knowledge is not [simply] gathering information nor to boast with it, for knowledge is not intended in of itself, rather it is a means to gaining closeness to Allah the Most High.

Ibn Mas’ood stated, ” Knowledge is not plentiful narrations, rather knowledge is fear of Allah”

Sufyaan at-Thawry stated, “Hadith is only sought in order to fear Allah with [in fulfilling obligations and refraining from prohibitions], consequently this knowledge is preferred over other [types] of knowledge, and was it not for that it would be just like the other sciences”

Malik bin Anas stated, “Knowledge is not plentiful narrations, rather it is a light Allah places in the hearts”

We advise ourselves and all our brothers and sisters who are able to attend to make the effort to do so, for indeed within such gatherings based upon the learning of the Qur’an and Sunnah upon the Methodology of the Salaf is great benefit. As we advise ourselves and others to purify our intentions for the sake of Allah and to indeed ask Allah for aid and assistance in seeking knowledge, in order that we remove the ignorance from ourselves, our parents and families and the people.

Indeed, as some of the Salaf us-Salih would state, perhaps a single word that enters the heart and is acted upon may ultimately be the saviour on the Day of Recompense, hence never delay in seeking knowledge of this blessed religion, nor feel at ease or comfort considering you have sufficed yourself….for certainly the Salaf never did.

May Allah reward our brothers in the organisation of this event, and may it be a means of guidance, goodness and benefit for all those who participate.

In Defense of the Prophet Muhammad–by Shaikh Rabee Ibn Haadee Al-Madkhalee

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

All praises are due to Allah, and may Allah exalt the status of the Messenger of Allah and that of his family and his companions, and may He grant them peace.

As for what follows:

Some newspapers and other forms of media have spread hurtful, vicious information that could only emanate from the jealous, arrogant enemies of Islam and its Prophet (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace).

That conduct comprises a calumniation of Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah and a distortion of his message by jealous individuals and Christian organizations, as well as envious and irresponsible columnists, like those who write for the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten.

Its writers mocked the best of Mankind and the most distinguished of the Messengers, Muhammad (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace), the likes of whose nobility, honour, justice, and manners the earth has never known of. Neither has it known of a more complete and comprehensive message than his, nor a more just and merciful one.

It is a message that embraces belief in all of the prophets and messengers, honoring them and defending them from calumniation and defamation. It has also preserved an accurate history of the prophets, including Jesus and Moses. So whoever disbelieves in Muhammad and speaks of him in a derogatory manner has disbelieved in all of the prophets and disparaged of all of them.

Recently, some uncivilized miscreants made fun of the Prophet, drawing various pictures of him. Twelve despicable pictures, one of them portrayed him (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) wearing a turban resembling a bomb on his head.

We say to these criminals and their envious supporters in Europe and America: You are accusing others of your very own crimes! (*)

Let it be known that never did Muhammad (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace), nor his righteous successors or any of his honorable companions, ever establish factories for even the most primitive of weapons, like swords and spears, let alone atomic bombs, long-range missiles, or any other weapon of mass destruction.

Never did Muhammad (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) build a single weapon factory. Rather, he was sent as a mercy for the entire creation, to guide all Mankind towards happiness in their worldly lives and in their hereafter, such that they fulfill their Creator’s right upon them, for it is He who created them to worship Him alone. Whoever rejects this is truly a criminal deserving punishment in this life and the next, by the Lord of all that exists, the Creator of this universe and its Master.

As for you O Westerners, claimants of civilization, you have constitutions and statutes that destroy upright moral character and permit all kinds of forbidden acts, the likes of fornication and sodomy, as well as usury which destroys the economies of entire nations, and the eating of improperly slaughtered animals (dead meats) and pork, something that causes the loss of concern for women’s values, and thus a man does not feel protective of his wife, sister, or daughter, and thus she fornicates with or intimately befriends whomever she pleases. These are some of the means which lead to ruin, and they have been prohibited in all of the prophetic messages.

As for bombs and all other weapons of destruction, war planes, tanks, and long-range missiles, you are the ones who engineered and manufactured them with your satanic minds that only think about transgression, animosity, oppression, attacking, tyranny, conquering entire races of people and enslaving them, spilling their blood, and usurping their natural resources. You think only about annihilating those who oppose you and stand in the way of your greedy aspirations, your oppression and spreading of hatred. All this wrapped up in the name of civilization, human rights, freedom, and justice!

All intelligent people know this about you. For your dark history is overflowing with uncivil and terrorist acts, a history recorded against you by both your enemies and allies alike.

Anyone who does not know this should read about your history and your occupation of numerous nations, or at least read the history and some horrible results of your two World Wars. For example, the number of fatalities in the First World War in Europe reached “More than 10 million, and they were the elite of their nations’ youth. And more than twice this number had incurred serious injuries disabling them for the rest of their lives.” [Refer to: At-Taareekh al-Mu’aasir: Uruubbaa minath-Thawratil-Fransiyyah ilal-Harbil-‘Aalamiyyaith-Thaaniyah, p.505. (Lit: Recent History, Europe from the French Revolution to the Second World War)]

The number of soldiers killed in the Second World War reached: “17 million, along with another 18 million civilian fatalities – all of them killed within a period of only five and a half years. Experts have estimated that the military expenses alone reached $1,100 billion, and that losses caused by the war reached the value of $2,100 billion. Added to this are the number of entire cities destroyed, the amount of earth scorched, the agriculture that was flooded, and the factories and plantations that stopped production, not to mention the number of livestock that were destroyed or lost.” [(Al-Harb al-‘Aalamiyyah ath-Thaaniyah by Ramadhaan Land, p.448-449) (Lit: The Second World War)]

The Hiroshima Bomb

Stated the author of the book, “al-Harb al-‘Aalamiyyah ath-Thaaniyah” (p.446-447) (Lit: The Second World War), “And perhaps it is appropriate to speak about this first atomic bomb. Let us relay what was reported directly from one of the Japanese in his interview with Marcel Junod, a representative of the Red Cross, speaking about the reality of this most frightening explosion. He said: …And suddenly there appeared these intense, muddy pinkish lights, accompanied by an unnatural tremor. This was immediately followed by an asphyxiating wave of heat and violent winds that ravaged everything in their path.

Within only a few seconds, thousands of people who walked the roads or sat in the city’s main streets were burned alive. A great number were then killed by the intense heat that spread all over. Others were left lying on the ground screaming in pain with deadly burns all over their bodies. Anything that had been at the point of impact – walls, homes, factories, and other buildings – was completely and totally annihilated, with all traces of these things sent hurling into the sky in a ghastly whirlwind. Trams were plucked from their steel tracks and flung as if they had lost their weight and substance. Trains were lifted off the ground along with their tracks as if they were mere toys. Horses, dogs, and livestock were all befallen with what befell the people. Every living thing had lost its life in one painful turn of events too difficult to describe. Trees were engulfed in blazing fires, rice fields lost their color, and farms crackled and burned away like dry straw.

As for the surrounding areas that escaped instant death: Homes were crumbled and only piles of wooden boards remained amongst bricks and stone foundations. Everything was crushed as if they were cardboard houses in a zone of destruction 10 kilometers in diameter. Those who survived found themselves totally surrounded by raging fires. The few people who managed to get to any type of shelter in time died painful deaths from gamma radiation within 20 to 30 days. By nightfall on the day of the blast, the blaze slowed down and then died out, finding nothing left to fuel it. Hiroshima had passed away into nothingness.”

These are some of the landmarks of your civilization that you sing and boast about, and become insolent towards Islam and its Prophet with. Yet you continue intensifying every form of oppression and corruption and you go on inventing more and more weapons of destruction, annihilation, and devastation, and this – by Allah – is the utmost limit of barbaric and animalistic behavior.

( Or do you think that most of them even listen or use their intellects?
They are only like cattle, rather, even more astray than that. )

[Soorah al-Furqaan 25:44]

So crown yourselves with your own bombs, including the Hiroshima bomb and its likes, and crown your leaders with them. Consider all other weapons of mass destruction as your fangs and claws that you use to prey upon wild animals and all of Mankind.

( And those who oppress shall see what kind of outcome overturns them. )
[Soorah ash-Shooraa 26:227]

Stories of the Scholars [2004 – 2010] Sh.Mohammad al-Banna

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Indeed the great virtues of the scholars and their station is well-known to all who adhere to the blessed methodology of Salafiyyah and learn it; be them from the times of the early generations such as the muhaddith al-Imam al-Bukhary and the great Imam Ahmad – the one who is put forth as an example of courage and resoluteness -, or those who came later in history, the likes of the great Imam ibn Taymiyyah and his students ibn ul-Qayyim, ad-Dhahaby, ibn abdul-Hady and ibn Kathir amongst others, and recently the likes of the reviver al-Imam Mohammad bin abdul-Wahhab….until we arrive at our present generation with the likes of al-Imam ibn Baz, ibn al-Uthaymeen and al-Albany [رحمهم الله أجمعين], as well as the likes of those we are blessed with in our presence today, Shaikh al-Fawzaan, Shaikh Luhaydan, Shaikh Rabee’ bin Haady, Shaikh Zaid bin Haady, Shaikh ‘Ubayd al-Jabiry [حفظهم الله] amongst many others from the people of knowledge and virtue in our time.

Much admonition may be derived from the lives of such shining lights; in their behaviours and morals, in their dealings with the people – old and young, students of knowledge and otherwise -, in their gentleness and kindness, as well as their firmness when required.

The following series of articles will be narrations of actual events that occurred and were witnessed from our noble scholars during our years at the Islamic University of Madinah [2004 – 2010], in order that we may take lessons from their mannerisms – mannersims that eminate from a detailed understanding of the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Shaikh Mohammad bin abdul-Wahhab al-Banna رحمه الله تعالى:

Upon a visit to Makkah for the purpose of performing the ‘umra in approximately the year 2005, we approached the Shaikh whilst he was sitting at his usual location in al-Masjid al-Haram. We proceeded to greet the Shaikh and ask concerning his health and general well-being. The Shaikh had been sitting reciting the Qur’an prior to our arrival, however he had momentarily ceased his recitation to greet us…after a moment or two once the greetings had concluded, and perhaps a short question or two had been asked and answered, the Shaikh turned to us and said [paraphrased];

“Please excuse me, please excuse me but I need to return to the recitation of the Qur’an….I am an old man now….my days are nearing the end, the grave is close….please allow me to gather my deeds in this remaining opportunity by way of reciting the Qur’an, for indeed every letter recited is 10 rewards……”

By Allah, the softness of the voice in which he spoke and the expression upon his face, a man of the Sunnah in his 90’s “requesting” from a group of youth some 60 years younger than him permission to continue reciting the Book of Allah, it was sufficient for every individual to embrace silence and leave the Shaikh in peace to continue upon his worship….whilst at the same time contemplating our own state of affairs in our worship and our shortcomings.

So indeed, the one who wishes to contemplate will certainly find admonishment in the example of one of the slaves of Allah – the noble Shaikh Mohammad bin abdul-Wahhab al-Banna – at an age only years from a century – remaining firm upon his obedience and finding the energy and strength to perform his worship, not desiring that any moment be taken from that time.

Certainly, this is the same as the example of the Salaf us-Salih, for indeed the one who contemplates their biographies recognises the value and importance of time. This religion, is indeed, knowledge and actions.

The Committee of Major Scholars On Imaam Albaanee

The man is known to us to (possess) knowledge and virtue, exalting the Sunnah and giving service to it, and aiding the Madhab of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa-ah in warning against bigoted partisanship and blind following, and his books are beneficial. However, he is just like others amongst the scholars, he is not infallible; he is correct (at times) and mistaken (at times) and we hope for him two rewards in what he is correct and one reward in what he is mistaken, as established from the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) that he said:

“When a haakim (i.e. a judge or scholar who has reached the station in knowledge making him qualified to perform Ijtihaad) strives to make a ruling and is correct, he receives two rewards, and if he makes a wrong ruling he receives one reward.’

[Fatwa Lajna Daa-ima 12/324-325: Shaikh Abdul Azeez Bin Baaz, Shaikh Abdur-Razzaaq Al-Afeefee,Shaikh Abdullaah Al-Ghudiyaan and Shaikh Abdullaah Bin Qu’ood]

Shaikh Abdullaah Al-Bukhaari–”It Is obligatory to attach the Ummah to the…………….”

Shaikh Abdullah Bukhaari (hafidha-hullaah) stated:

It is obligatory to attach the Ummah to the Rabbaani Scholars, those who are well known for their goodness, steadfastness, leadership and and sound advice to the Ummah–and they are those who teach the smaller affairs of knowledge before the greater affairs. Therefore, their status must be made known amongst the people, because the scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets, as reported in the narration from the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam).

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) in explaining this hadith stated:

This is among the greatest virtues of the people of knowledge; and because the Prophets are the best of the creation, therefore their inheritors are the best after them.  And when it is the case that every one that is inherited from passes on inheritance to his inheritor, then the inheritors are those who take the place of those they inherit from. None will take the place of the Messengers in propagating what they have been sent with except the scholars.  They are the most worthy of their inheritance. Guidance For The Youth Of The Ummah-Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan (hafidha-hullaah)

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan stated: All Praise is be to Allaah Lord of the Aalameen, and may His Peace and Blessings be upon our prophet Muhammad (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam), his household and his companions.  To proceed:

The youth of the nation are the foundation of humanity upon which the nation is made to stand firm; and the young men are the successive generation to shoulder the responsibilities after their fathers.  They possess bodily strength and are thoughtful, and they possess new talent not possessed by the elders.  The elders possess wisdom and experience and the youth possess strength and vigour. Therefore, if the youth and the elders co-operate for the advancement of the nation, a lot of good will result from that.

The True Faqeeh [A person bestowed with understanding in the religion]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Muhammad Baazmool (hafidha-hullaah) stated:

Indeed, the Salaf did not designate the name faqeeh, except to the one whose knowledge was accompanied by action, as when Sad bin Ibraaheem was asked, ”who amongst the people of madina was most superior in understanding”, he said, ”the one with more taqwah.”   Farqad As Subkhee asked Hassan al Basree about some affair, so he answered him. Then he (farqad) said, ”Indeed, the fuqahaa are in opposition to you”. So Al Hassan said, ”may your mother be bereaved of you O Farqad, and have you seen a faqeeh with your eyes? Rather a faqeeh is one who abstains from the dunyah and has a fervent desire for the Afterlife.  He is one who has insight in his religion and is constant in the worship of his Lord. He neither speaks ill of the one above him nor does he mock at the one below him, and he does not look for a gain from knowledge Allaah has bestowed upon him”.  Some of the Salaf said: Indeed the faqeeh is the one who neither makes the people despair of Allaah’s mercy nor does he make them feel secure of Allaah’s plan, nor does he call to the Qur’aan and desires what is in opposition to it.

False Principles of The People of Bidah

“We Correct Mistakes But We Do Not Make Jarh”

Imaam Abdul Azeez Bin Baz (rahimahullaah) said:

”Indeed the criticism from ahlul ilm and rebuttal of one whose rebuttal is an obligation, this is from the affair of giving sincere advice to the Ummah……..”

Imaam Muhammad Bin Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah) was asked about the above false principle, so he said:

”This is a mistake, rather we refute the one who willfully opposes the truth.”

Al-Allaama Saaleh Al-Fawzaan was asked about the above false principle, so he said:

”This principle has no foundation…..the people of falsehood must be refuted.”

Al-Allaama Zaid Bin Haadi Al Madkhalee said:

”This principle is not from the principles of the Rabbaani scholars.”
