Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Madkhalee [may Allaah preserve him] said:
I will mention what Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] and other than him – amongst the people of knowledge – drew attention to regarding the virtue of the scholars in the statement of Allaah [The Blessed and Exalted] said: [يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَطِيعُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَأُوْلِى ٱلۡأَمۡرِ مِنكُمۡۖ – O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad, and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority]. [Surah An-Nisaa. Verse 59]
The pious predecessors explained the term “Ulul Ilm – those who have been given knowledge” to mean “Al-Umaraa -those who are in authority” and some of them explained it to mean “Al-Ulamaa – the scholars”. However, what is correct is that the verse includes both the scholars and those in authority [i.e. the rulers]. The scholars propagate Allaah’s divine law, teach the people, give rulings to the people and the rulers; and the rulers implement the rulings – implement the knowledge (of the divine law], which the scholars possess and propagate. So, the verse includes both the scholars and rulers. And due to this, Ibnul Qayyim said that it is obligatory to obey the scholars when they say, “Allaah said and Allaah’s Messenger said” in issues related to creed, acts of worship or deeds. (Also with regards to affairs) related to halaal and haram, if they say, “Allaah said and the Messenger of Allaah said” and then they give verdicts and judge based on what the Book and Sunnah necessitates, it becomes obligated on the people to obey them. (a) If the rulers command (the people) to obey Allaah -in agreement with what agrees with Allaah’s divine law, then it becomes obligated on the people to obey them. (b)
(But what is) witnessed (in relation to this affair) is that many people do not acknowledge the status of the people of knowledge, and they say, “They (i.e. scholars) are not guardians over us and there are no popes in Islam”. This (i.e. statement of those who do not recognize the status of the scholars) is tantamount to toppling the scholars, belittling them and removing them from their status (i.e. although neither are the scholars regarded as popes nor are they to be treated as popes, but they are the inheritors of the prophets and must be obeyed when they give rulings and judge based on what the Qur’aan and the Sunnah necessitate). This chronic illness started since the appearance of nationalism, western colonialism, the destructive views of the Naasiriyyah [i.e. Pan Arab Socialists] and Ba’thiyyah [i.e. the Ba’ath party – socialists] etc. The figureheads of these filthy dogmas made strenuous efforts to eliminate Islaam and remove it from their path, which they could not accomplish except by toppling the scholars. Then, this disease spread amongst the (innovated or deviated) groups that attribute themselves to Islaam, so you see them earnestly (seeking) to topple the scholars and describing them as stooges of the (government) authorities, spies, tails of the ruler and other evil nicknames. The (aim behind) all of this is to topple the scholars, especially the scholars of the Salafi methodology – the methodology that declares the one who is correct, the one upon error, the one upon falsehood, the misguided one and the deviated one as they are. There is neither flattery nor Mudaahanah [i.e. showing agreement -being pleased with what an opponent is upon, leaving him in his path and not seeking to rectify him, whilst saying, ‘As long as he keeps quiet about me, I will keep quiet about him’, because the inheritors of the prophets [i.e. the upright scholars]- those who present the truth- are just. They aid the religion ordained by Allaah and propagate it in the ummah. They propagate justice, Ihsaan [i.e. all that will perfect the worship of a person, good dealings and benefiting the people through one’s knowledge, wealth and position etc] and righteousness. And they wage war against evil, Fawaahish (i.e. great evil sins, every kind of unlawful sexual intercourse), Shirk, misguidance, innovation in religious affairs and superstitious beliefs beliefs. (1)
The Shaikh [may Allaah preserve him] also said, "Indeed, I advise the youth to have good manners, to be humble, honour the scholars and avoid this evil orientation [i.e. the claim of the one who says, 'I do not make Taqleed of such and such', even though the claim behind this is to reject the truth.. read here [ https://salafidawahmanchester.com/2017/12/15c-excerpts-shaikh-rabees-book-titled-marhaban-yaa-taalibal-ilm-i-not-make-taqleed-person/ ], just as the khawaarij used to say, ‘The judgement belongs to none except Allaah’, so Ali [may Allaah be pleased with him] said to them, ‘A statement of truth by way of which falsehood is desired’.
I swear by Allaah -based on my observations of their actions, statements and stances-that these people desire falsehood and to divert the youth from the scholars. The youth exit a maelstrom and fall into another maelstrom, exit one pit and fall into another, because the people of evil and temptation are hidden behind the scenes, as the saying goes, ‘They want pawns’ whom they move back and forth to confront the Salafi Methodology. Where did Ikhwaan al Muslimoon and the Qutubiyyoon (c) get these ideas from in this land [i.e. Saudi Arabia]? Where did the ideas of Juhaymaan, Abdur Rahmaan Abdul Khaaliq, Al- Haddaad, Al-Maghraawi and Abul Hasan Al-Maribi come from? (d) All of them are tail ends of Ikhwaan Al-Muslimeen’s ideas. All of them- beginning with the civil strife initiated by Juhaymaan up to date- are tail ends of Ikhwaan Al-Muslimeen’s tempation, whose main setup is to topple the scholars. However, they adopt different apparels and semblances – sometimes they adopt the term Al-Ikhwaan, sometimes the term At-Tasawwuf and at other times they adopt the term As-Salafiyyah! The most dangerous one is the term As-Salafiyyah, because they are unable to confront the Salafi Methodology with the terms At-Tab’leegh and Al- Ikhwaan, so they cover this make-believe act with the term As-Salafiyyah and then come along to challenge the scholars [i.e. the true scholars of the Salafi Methodology]. Do Not Join The Ignoramuses and The Heedless In Their Gathering of Falsehood
Allaah [The Exalted] said:
وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَشۡهَدُونَ ٱلزُّورَ وَإِذَا مَرُّواْ بِٱللَّغۡوِ مَرُّواْ ڪِرَامً۬ا
And those who do not witness falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity. [Surah Al-Furqan. Aayah 72]
Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [may Allaah have mercy upon him] said: They do not attend the gatherings of falsehood and when go past anything that is utilized in falsehood – whether in speech or actions, they behave in an honorable manner and do not stand there to witness or incline towards it. [Ref 1]
Revolutions Are Not From Islaam, So Why Participate In Celebrations?!
Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Madkhalee [may Allaah preserve him] was asked: Going out to demonstrations, (initiating) revolutions and nurturing the youth upon it; is this from the methodology of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa’ah or not, whether (carried) out within or outside the Muslim countries? Answer: This is the methodology of Marx (i.e. Carl Marx), Lenin (i.e. Vladimir Lenin) and those similar to them. It is not from the Islamic methodology. Revolutions, bloodshed, trials and troubles are Marx’s and Lenin’s school of thought. [Ref 2]
Do You Remember How Many Muslims Lost Their Lives During The So-called Arab Spring?!
Allaah’s Messenger [peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him] said: ”The termination of the world means less to Allah than the killing of a Muslim [i.e. without right]”. [Ref 3]
It Was Not The Spring of The Muslims, Rather It Was The Spring of The Disbelievers
Al-Allaamah Saaleh Al-Fawzaan [may Allaah preserve him] was asked: ”What do you think about what is now called the Arab Spring?”
Answer: By Allaah, the spring has not brought us any remedy (or brought us any cure, restored anything good etc). It has not brought us any remedy except killing. It has not brought us any remedy except trial. The unbelievers call it this [i.e. Arab spring]. The Muslims do not call this spring, rather they call it trial and evils. It is true that it is a spring for the unbelievers because they harm Muslims by way of it and they are pleased with what harms Muslims. This pleases them and it is their spring. Therefore, it would be better that these people repent for their sins, obey their present rulers in good and never call to rebellion again. Al-Allaamah Rabee Bin Haadi Al-Madkhalee [may Allaah preserve him] said: If you are able to exercise patience and seek knowledge, then exercise patience- meaning, study before getting married, just as Umar [radiyallaahu-anhu] said that “Some people might be prevented from [seeking] knowledge due to marriage’’. So, when he gets married, he abandons seeking knowledge and becomes relaxed, and tires himself [i.e. it becomes difficult for him to combine family responsibilities and seeking knowledge at the same time]. Al-Jazeera channel [news] has a lot of evil and it contains Tahreesh [incitement, provocation, instigation]. They bring people who speak about the religion in a haphazard manner – in the affairs of fiqh; declaring unlawful that which Allaah has made lawful and declaring lawful that which Allaah has made unlawful in their Fataawaa. A Severe Warning Against Inclining Towards Wrongdoers
Shaikh Rabee Bin Haadee Al-Madkhalee [hafidhahullaah] said: Allaah said:
وَلَا تَرْكَنُوا إِلَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا فَتَمَسَّكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ ثُمَّ لَا تُنصَرُونَ
And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you, and you have no protectors other than Allah, nor you would then be helped. (Hud: 113)
[Do not] incline towards the oppressors, those who oppress the people, (shedding) their blood, (stealing) their wealth and (violating) their honour, or they oppress the people in their religion by way of innovations and various forms of misguidance and the dissemination of dangerous propaganda and calls that oppose Islam. Do not incline towards anyone from these type of people. Do not aid him and do not help him with his falsehood. The verse includes all of these types (of oppressors). Every follower of falsehood is an oppressor, every innovator is an oppressor and everyone who violates a Muslim’s honour is an oppressor. So, do not incline towards any of them and thus you are afflicted by the fire, because when you incline towards the sinner, the innovator, the oppressor, the criminal, the one who violates peoples’ honour and those who violate the sanctity of the divine legislation, it is as if you are pleased (with him) – as if you are aiding and supporting him. Therefore, the believer should be careful of falling into this destructive inclination.

Shaikh Rabee [may Allaah preserve him] continued…..
Amongst the liars in this era are the figureheads of the political groups, such as the secularists and Baathists [Arab Nationalists], and many of the people who carry alluring slogans in the name of Islaam, such as Islamic socialism, Islamic democracy, the call to unity of religions and many other misguided claims made in the name of Islaam (Ref 1). This takes place amongst groups who claim that they are seeking to raise Islaam very high and that they are established to return the Islamic Ummah to its past glory; however they increase the people in misguidance and darkness, and Allaah’s Refuge is sought. This poses a more severe danger to the people and the youth, therefore it is obligated on the Muslims and the students of knowledge to be extremely cautious of all these types of people, warn the Muslims against their plots and plans, and unveil their secrets. And the Muslims should adhere firmly to the Book of their Lord and the Sunnah of their Prophet; follow the Salafus Saaleh [pious predecessors] in their creed, methodology, loyalty and disassociation, and to deal with this dangerous category of people about whom the Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] feared for his Ummah – warn them against these groups and make it known that he feared for them regarding these people more than he feared for them regarding Dajjaal, so that they deal with them in the manner that the Salafus Saaleh [pious predecessors] dealt with them- by being cautious, warning against them, unveiling their hidden affairs and making known the defects within them in order to protect the religion and as a means of sincere advice to the Muslims.
With regards to the conflict between the adherents to truth and the adherents to falsehood in every era and place, then the truth must reach its gaol which Allaah has promised -that the religion He has ordained will supersede, the adherents to truth will be given the upper hand over the adherents to falsehood and it is a must that falsehood and its adherents will be defeated and end in failure. Therefore, it is obligated on the adherents to truth – pure Ahlus Sunnah – to be upon steadfastness and resilience, embark upon hard work with everything by way of which they are able to aid the religion ordained by Allaah in creed, commands, prohibitions, rulings and methodology; and that they give it the upper hand against falsehood in all its forms and images, whether it is disbelief or hypocrisy coated with Islaam, a manifest bidah [i.e. religious innovation] or a bidah coated with Islaam. Allaah [The Exalted] said: [ هو الذي أرسل رسوله بالهدى ودين الحق ليظهره على الدين كله ولو كره المشركون – It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam), to make it superior over all religions even though the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) hate (it)]. [Surah At-Tawbah. Aayh 33]
Ahlul Ahwaa [the people of desires (i.e. ahlul bidah)] share this hatred with them, therefore there’s nothing else except that the adherents to truth employ the legislated means to actualise this promise and this affair that is incumbent upon the scholars of Ahlus Sunnah. Wherever the adherents to the Salafi methodology and its students are or wherever they go, then it is obligated on them to step up and aid one another to raise the word of truth, Tawheed and Sunnah, and to subdue religious innovations, misguidance and doubts; establish Allaah’s proofs against all the various misguided people, make known the reality of the liars and the fakers. And they should know that the opponents against the truth have reached the highest level of plotting and planning, and from this is their preoccupation with the task of silencing many amongst Ahlus Sunnah and the adherents to truth, and restraining them from confronting the falsehood that is covered in the garb of truth. This category of people amongst the adherents to falsehood are more severe in employing lies, duplicity and pretending to possess that which they do not possess; so they are just as the Messenger [sallal laahu alayhi wasallam] stated, “The one who pretends that he has been given what he has not been given, is just like the (false) one who wears two garments of falsehood”.
So, we find them as ones who praise the people of falsehood the most and making their affair to appear pleasing, whilst they are the most severe in speaking ill against the adherents to the truth and its callers. Indeed, they have set up corrupt principles to aid falsehood and the adherents to misguided methodologies; waging war against the adherents to truth by devising plots and repugnant affairs, manifesting their hatred and enmity against the adherents to truth and hastening- without boredom and tiredness – to instruct the youth to oppose the people of truth, striving hard to aid falsehood and topple the adherents to truth. We ask Allaah [تبارك وتعالى ] to raise His Word and guide these people or relieve the Ummah from their evil. Indeed, our Lord is One who hears invocation. And may Allaah’s peace and blessings be upon our Sayyid Muhammad, his family and companions until the day of judgement.
